[00:00:00] Now on BBC News a round up [00:00:01] of the day's sporting action plus talking points, analysis and original [00:00:05] journalism. BBC [00:00:09] a Sport. [00:00:16] Hello, I'm Tiny Arnold with your latest sports news. Manchester [00:00:20] City's first game since being found guilty of breaching Premier League [00:00:23] of financial regulations [00:00:25] of ends in victory as they outclass Liverpool. Red Bulls [00:00:29] Max for stappen. secures his first win at the Singapore Grand Prix to [00:00:32] take his second victory within a week and Alexander [00:00:36] Zvarev hits another milestone in his standout season to notch his [00:00:40] 60th tour level victory of [00:00:42] 2026. [00:01:00] Manchester City have played and [00:01:02] of won their first game since being found guilty of breaching the Premier League's [00:01:05] financial rules. They beat [00:01:07] of Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield, one [00:01:09] of the teams beaten to the title by City. During the period, the [00:01:13] tribunal said they had sham [00:01:14] of contracts a misstated accounts. They're appealing the [00:01:18] decision. Enzo Moresca side restored their three-point lead at the [00:01:22] top [00:01:22] of the table emphatic fashion getting their three goals after Liverpool [00:01:26] had Ryan Gravenburg sent off. Moresca felt the players managed. the [00:01:30] situation well, yeah, very proud, very, very [00:01:34] proud for the players, because I know how tough has been for them, in the last two [00:01:38] weeks, three weeks, the noise and this kind of things, but again very proud [00:01:42] for the performance, I think we struggle a little bit first half, we were [00:01:45] not good enough on the ball in terms of buildup, [00:01:49] of then second half, I think we were much better, the red card also [00:01:52] was much better for us because changed the game, [00:01:56] but again after you two three weeks. [00:02:00] with all the situation, all the noise, our target is just to deal with [00:02:04] the noise, that is [00:02:05] the only thing we can do and try to make our noise, that is to to win [00:02:08] games, we play two different games probably today, one game [00:02:12] until the red card, i think 62 minutes where i think [00:02:16] players have been very [00:02:20] good, i think we've been the the best team, we haven't materialized and it [00:02:23] probably has arrived in our best moment, the the [00:02:26] of red card and second game from from then where i think city [00:02:30] has been better obviously than us. the BBC sports [00:02:34] editor Dan Roame was at Anfield and told us what this victory might mean for [00:02:38] city and the Premier League going forward. it [00:02:41] brands itself as the most popular league in the world, it's a big export for the [00:02:44] country, but it does have this huge question mark hanging over [00:02:48] it when we don't yet know what City's fate is, and of course, if you look back [00:02:52] as well, the the span of wrong doing was from [00:02:56] 2009 to 2018, but many feel that the years... [00:03:00] after as well, city have benefited from that financial [00:03:04] cheating, it enabled them to spend lot more money than they [00:03:06] of should have [00:03:06] been able to spend, and that had legacy, that then built and laid the [00:03:10] foundations for future years during the Guardiola years, and right up until [00:03:14] now, if you look at the depth of City's squad, many [00:03:18] will conclude that that is - the squad is a [00:03:22] of beneficiary of that behavior in the past. It was an [00:03:25] entertaining Sunday afternoon at the MKM stadium as Hull and [00:03:29] Everton. played out two-all draw. Hall had taken the lead [00:03:33] shortly after halftime before Kin and Jewsburry Hall and Tieno [00:03:36] Barry fired Everton in front, but Mohamed Ballumi leveled [00:03:40] things so the points were shared as both sides continue their good starts to the [00:03:44] season. They made mistakes, we punished them [00:03:48] immediately, but unfortunately after this we gave them two [00:03:51] goals, so yes, it's a big big cardinal mistakes [00:03:54] and um, I can be happy with the the boys [00:03:58] because we showed the... mentality, good mentality, we [00:04:01] equalized to too, and then you know [00:04:04] uh point is on the end of good and congratulations b [00:04:08] team for their performance today, really frustrated with [00:04:12] the game generally, our levels were way below, we were been [00:04:15] recently uh disappointed that we didn't when [00:04:19] we went 2-1 up thought [00:04:21] it was bad enough going one nil down, but we went 2-1 up didn't i didn't think there'd be any way we [00:04:24] would we would go on not to win the [00:04:27] game, there was no happy return. to Crystal Palace for the [00:04:31] Nottingham [00:04:31] of Forest Manager Oliver Glasner as his side were beaten [00:04:34] 3-1. Glasner left Palace at the end [00:04:37] of the season before joining Forest, his side did take early lead [00:04:41] through Dan and Doy, but two quick palace goals before halfime [00:04:45] turned things around before Jeremi Pino got their third. It's [00:04:48] Palace's second win [00:04:49] of the season and moves them up to 12th while Forest a [00:04:52] 14th. We struggled lot against the [00:04:56] good team, Nottingham. [00:05:01] uh analyze us well and i think the [00:05:04] attack [00:05:05] in a space we we were in in difficulty [00:05:08] today, but at the end we win and that's... the [00:05:12] most important thing, so many chances, but [00:05:16] um, I told them, I think today it was just, and this happens [00:05:20] sometimes, [00:05:20] I don't know, call it karma or whatever, I think I didn't deserve to win [00:05:24] here at Selhors Park after what happened the last more than two years here, [00:05:28] because the players, [00:05:29] I think was our best performance, especially in the attack, and but [00:05:33] yeah, today it shouldn't be, Salt return to the top the [00:05:37] Scottish Premiership with two-nil win at Motherwell, having lost [00:05:41] 3-6. sucessive matches before the international break, Celtic were in need [00:05:45] of a good performance for Motherwell. It was their fourth successive [00:05:49] league defeat, and Josh Fouler's early penalty and St. Johnston a [00:05:53] 1-il win at Aberdeen. It was their first win on the road this season and moves [00:05:57] them up to fifths. Real Betis continued their good [00:06:01] start to the season with a big win over Ososuna 5-2, that [00:06:04] moves them back above Real Madrid into third in La Liga. Real [00:06:08] Sociadad are up to sixth after beating Deportivo 3. and [00:06:12] Valencia moved off the bottom the table with draw at rassing [00:06:16] Santander. Freiberg went to top the [00:06:20] Bundesliga after late winner meant they beat Schalker 2-1. The [00:06:24] black forest side took advantage of Borussia Dortmund drawing [00:06:27] tool with Verda Bremen on Friday and Bayern Munich managing the [00:06:31] same score at Alsburg on Saturday. Britia Munch and [00:06:34] Gladback are the Bundesliga's bottom side. They lost again [00:06:38] two-1 away their fifth loss in five games so [00:06:42] far. this season. Red [00:06:45] Bulls Max Vastappen took his second victory within a week as he [00:06:49] secured his first win in the Singapore Grand Prix. [00:06:53] The Stapin fought off attack from Ferrari's Charles to at [00:06:57] the start to control the race. The win followed his and Red Bull's [00:07:01] main victory the year in Malaysia last weekend and alongside his [00:07:04] sprink race success in Singapore on Saturday. It confirms the team's [00:07:08] reemergence as major force. Kimmy Antonilli's third. [00:07:12] means he can clinch his first world title at the next race in the [00:07:16] United States, but this weekend belonged to for [00:07:19] stappen. we had pace when we needed to have [00:07:23] it on [00:07:24] the on the soft tire and on the medium, even though i think the medium tire for everyone was a [00:07:28] bit more of [00:07:29] a of a struggle with it, it worked out, so of course very happy to uh to win [00:07:33] here. steve smith produced slip [00:07:36] fielding masterclass on day three the first test against South Africa [00:07:40] in Durban. Smith took... four catches in the South Africa [00:07:44] innings, moving him above Joe Route to 223 catches, [00:07:48] the most by a non-wicket keeper in test cricket. The homeside were all [00:07:52] out for 284. Australia ended the day on 33 [00:07:56] without loss to give [00:07:57] them a lead 139 runs. Elsewhere [00:08:01] India took a 2-1 lead in their best of five T20 series [00:08:05] against the West Indies. Batting first, India posted an impressive [00:08:09] 223 from their 20 overs, built large... [00:08:13] on rapid fire 69 from Abishek Sharma in just [00:08:16] 30 balls in the second match the series, the West Indies chased [00:08:20] 250, but there was no repeat of that as they fell short [00:08:24] by 14 [00:08:26] runs. Alexander Zvarev beat [00:08:29] Quentin Hallis in three sets at the Shanghai Masters for his 60th [00:08:33] tour level win the season. He plays Alexander [00:08:37] Bobek in the fourth round and will clinch the year end world number [00:08:41] one ranking if reaches the semi-finals, but the German player [00:08:45] was keen to stress that a win loss record doesn't fully reflect a year in [00:08:48] which he won two grandslam titles and reach the final of [00:08:52] another. I feel like [00:08:56] this year I've been picking uh my [00:09:00] tournaments and picking my my places where I want to peak um and I [00:09:04] feel like I did that quite well um I didn't do that in the early [00:09:08] stages of my career I wanted to play well every single turnment and I feel like this year [00:09:12] "i've been working through lot of tournaments, i've been lifting through lot of [00:09:15] tournaments um and had maybe some losses which i [00:09:19] shouldn't have had, um, but then it paid off because uh, [00:09:23] i want two grand slamps and picked at the right moments and made another winble in final, [00:09:27] so um, i'm happy, i'm happy with that, [00:09:31] and men's tennis legend Roger Federa joined kainishkuri in Tokyo [00:09:35] on Sunday, his fans gathered to celebrate the Japanese stars career following [00:09:39] his recent announcement that he'll retire at the end of..." the [00:09:42] season, Federa is one the most decorated players in tennis history and [00:09:46] took part in the event honoring Nishikuri's achievements and [00:09:50] contributions to the sport. When I came [00:09:54] up in Switzerland, which is 10 times smaller than uh [00:09:57] Japan, uh, we already had Grand Slam champions and Olympic champions [00:10:01] in our country like Hingis and Rose and and other [00:10:05] players, and I feel like K was one of those players [00:10:08] who who had to break through a ceiling that didn't exist really, [00:10:13] "now um, you were the first player into the top 40, top [00:10:16] 30, top 20, top 10, top five, and it kept on going, so I think he [00:10:20] pushed the bar uh, incredibly [00:10:23] high for. the country uh, especially when it [00:10:27] comes to the men's game, and that also takes a lot of strength and belief [00:10:31] that you actually can do it. reminder of our top [00:10:35] story, Manchester City have beaten Liverpool in their first match since being [00:10:39] found guilty of breaking the Premier League's financial rules. there's more [00:10:42] analysis on that on the BBC Sport website and [00:10:46] app, but from me and the rest the team here at the BBC Sports [00:10:50] Center. Goodbye for [00:10:51] now. [00:11:19] Hello, the moisture that old tropical storm Rachel has brought in will [00:11:23] power some rain across the south. west, the intermountain region, we're [00:11:27] looking at variable amounts of rain, 25 to 75 millimeter rain, could be heavy [00:11:31] enough to cause some localized flidding impacts, heavy snow that we've seen over the [00:11:35] weekend in Montana will slowly begin to fade away and rain will clear [00:11:38] away from eastern areas the United States, lots of warm weather developing [00:11:42] then across central and southern states, we've got [00:11:46] extremely powerful hurricane Simon bringing torrential [00:11:49] rain to Halisco state in particular as well as damaging guss of [00:11:53] wind that hurricane. has sustain winds of 145 miles an hour, [00:11:57] looks like the center might well just stay offshore, but we'll continue to pubble [00:12:01] that state in particular. now we got some heavy rain and thunderstorms [00:12:05] into areas of southern Brazil and Paraguay, get around 50 to [00:12:09] 100 millimeter rain from these big downpours, again that could be enough to cause some [00:12:12] impacts. looking at the weather in Italy, a trough bringing some very [00:12:16] heavy thundery downpours here, some thunder storms developed, some of those could [00:12:20] be severe as we head into the afternoon, maybe even with an odd water spout, we've got some [00:12:24] rain. pushing into Romania and Bulgaria, that's a cold front bringing [00:12:28] cooler weather in to Bucharest. Syria [00:12:55] and into areas of Iraq. The monsoon continues to withdraw from [00:12:59] Northeast India and Bangladesh, the weather becoming dryer here, but area [00:13:03] of low pressure looks set to develop in the southern bare Bengal, this is going to bring some [00:13:07] heavier rain I think into Sri Lanka over the next few [00:13:10] days. Very powerful typhoon agita is going to [00:13:14] be steered away from Japan over the next few days as an area [00:13:18] of high pressure keeps the weather mostly settled in Japan. Heavy showers [00:13:22] continue to affect parts of Vietnam and got number areas low pressure bringing [00:13:26] widespread downpours to Malaysia, southern areas of Thailand and [00:13:30] Satra in Indonesia, some areas will see over 100 millimeters of rain, [00:13:34] some torrential dowrs also on the cards in New South Wales, southern parts of [00:13:38] Queensland could be heavy enough to cause some localized flooding, windy weather in [00:13:41] Tasmania, we'll start see some rain in the south of New Zealand, otherwise [00:13:45] mostly fine and warm.
