[00:00:00] to buy fool, which is not more than [00:00:03] in 2000 or 3000, you see they come out with policies without thinking through [00:00:07] it, they just announced it, go to NMPC [00:00:11] filling stations and buy to buy a foil at [00:00:13] of reduced [00:00:14] of price, dam drivers to the feeling stations, and then [00:00:18] they ask have you downloaded an app, [00:00:22] they did not educate people, they do not inform people, they [00:00:25] panicked because [00:00:27] of people [00:00:28] of are saying things are getting out of control. bad and so they quickly [00:00:32] came out with what they call this palliative, it is not palliative, it [00:00:34] decides, this is the reality, go to the filling stations [00:00:38] and see what is [00:00:40] of happening, this is what we do, as journalists you should also do that, we [00:00:44] go out and find out what people are saying, are they getting the fool at the [00:00:48] price the government said they will get, why are they not getting it, [00:00:52] so it's another avenue for [00:00:53] corruption, [00:00:58] of well um the come back i and ask him [00:01:02] that question [00:01:02] uh because that's not for for now and [00:01:06] of ask him what uh [00:01:08] of an up means in Europa [00:01:10] language [00:01:17] well let's just tap it down a bit [00:01:19] would you like to tap it down a bit would you like [00:01:20] of to [00:01:21] in help me how do you say app an application in [00:01:23] house [00:01:28] of up this uh I'll tell you all right, Dr. Zak, [00:01:32] let's [00:01:32] in now of come back to this issue as we wind down, um, I'm trying to look at [00:01:36] assurances uh, that Nigerian should hold to, what [00:01:39] assurances should Nigerian seek from the government, and [00:01:43] even INEC and security agencies and the political parties to [00:01:47] ensure a free, fair and credible 2027 [00:01:50] election. A recent survey has shown that majority of [00:01:54] nigerians don't believe I could be free and [00:01:56] of fair, and the list they have released recently yesterday. they [00:02:01] of have - they have dropped so many names of leading [00:02:04] party candidates in Karno, in Gombe and [00:02:08] many other places, it's not a way of assuring [00:02:12] people that you [00:02:13] of are going to be free and fair, because [00:02:15] of the activities in the past, people are very skeptical about, they have [00:02:19] they [00:02:19] of have lot to do to convince people, [00:02:21] of and this intolerance which we've [00:02:23] of started of with by [00:02:24] of governors at the various states is also eroding [00:02:27] whatever little confidence people have. [00:02:32] go go to all the states, you the opposition parties are not [00:02:36] allowed access to state control radio stations, [00:02:40] state control television stations, go to most [00:02:44] of the state, the [00:02:45] the the bill boss, opposition parties are not allowed to [00:02:49] have bill boss, they are supposed to pay, is it 50 million or 100 million in some [00:02:53] state, is that how you practice democracy, [00:02:57] because they are in government, they can still government money and [00:03:00] of pay [00:03:00] of 100 million for bill board, the opposition cannot do it, and so you [00:03:04] can read election, not only on [00:03:06] of election day, elections are even before [00:03:09] of elections, election day, so you come up with all sort of [00:03:13] policies that create obstacles for political [00:03:17] parties, for opposition parties to [00:03:19] a operate, look at [00:03:22] of what is what happened to us in the other time, not only [00:03:25] of was, in fact before we before they cancel it, i was told [00:03:29] from people from Abuja that we should be ready, the university will [00:03:33] in force to cancel [00:03:35] uh uh the bookings we have made for booking we have made for house we were [00:03:39] told two three days before [00:03:42] because we because [00:03:44] I think [00:03:44] I think Dr. Dr. Mohammed Dr. [00:03:47] Mohammed I'm afraid we're out of [00:03:50] time and uh other we went to other hotels in they also told [00:03:54] us that they were told not to accept our our not to accommodate [00:03:58] us [00:04:00] of intellectuals, what about [00:04:01] in political parties and we've been able to accommodate you here on China's television, [00:04:05] of which is a good thing and and [00:04:07] of Nigerians have also been able to accommodate you, we also tried reaching [00:04:10] out, no, no, [00:04:14] it's not going to happen, [00:04:16] Dr. Nigeria [00:04:19] has gone past that, I like to thank you for your time, Dr. Siddiq Abubakar [00:04:22] Mohammed is the executive director [00:04:24] of the Center for Democratic Development, research and training in Zarya, Kaduna [00:04:28] State, we also did. try to reach out to the Kaduna State Government and the [00:04:32] APC to come [00:04:34] of - speak on these very controversial issue as soon as we [00:04:38] able to get them they'll be [00:04:39] of here on [00:04:40] of Sunrise Daily. To examine these issues, we [00:09:48] joined now by K is [00:09:50] a publicity secretary the liberal party, can [00:09:52] good to see you and thank you for your time. Yeah, we have just [00:09:56] less than 100 days to the big moment here in Nigeria, [00:10:00] and many are still looking at that statement which was signed on October 3 [00:10:04] by your party. Let us in on the meet of that [00:10:07] statement that speaks to some kind of a collaboration [00:10:11] or alignment with the... in APC, thank you so [00:10:15] much uh Suleiman, you see the last time I was in this studio, [00:10:18] I I told you that um we have a presidential candidate [00:10:22] that um we are packaging. and uh in no distant [00:10:26] time we're going to unveil him short later this week the unveiling will take [00:10:29] place so um in straight answer to your question that [00:10:33] statement was not issued by the labor party you see [00:10:36] you know we had a protracted crisis that rocked the party [00:10:40] middle after 2023 election that crisis ended [00:10:43] in the in in last year and [00:10:47] uh before he ended it cost lot of uh hickups here [00:10:51] and there within the ranks the party so what you see now is [00:10:55] a is a is is something is more or less like hangover [00:10:59] of that crisis that rock the party you know in the last two three years [00:11:03] so um there was no statement issued by the labor [00:11:06] party what happened was that there were two guys who [00:11:10] have decided not to train the towel they were [00:11:14] affiliates of the former chairman julius abure [00:11:18] and uh these are his uh paid dogs that he has been [00:11:22] using to create confusion within the labor parties. to confuse [00:11:25] Nigerians, so um that statement was issued [00:11:29] by by one them who used to be the national youth [00:11:33] leader the party when Julos Abure was a national chairman, but he [00:11:37] used you used the pseudonym to sign it, [00:11:41] I said if if you read that correctly, I think he said [00:11:45] the guy is the youth leader a do state or something, that name is [00:11:48] nonexistent in the labor party e do, so [00:11:51] but they are just doing all that to create confusion. within the [00:11:55] racks the party, see this is what you get a system where [00:11:59] a lot of young men who are supposed to be gamefully [00:12:02] employed have found politics [00:12:06] as a vocation, as a calling, it shouldn't be vocation, [00:12:10] people who go people go into politics after having [00:12:13] worked in several places gan had experiences, they come to [00:12:17] politics to you know bring to the table those experiences [00:12:21] they've gathered [00:12:22] from you know all works of life to advance the course of humanity, you don't [00:12:26] just graduate from the university and you your next stop [00:12:30] is politics and that's what these young men are doing, they are in [00:12:33] their 30s and when the national chairman left his [00:12:37] office, they felt there was nothing else other than [00:12:41] to hang around and see how they can create confusion, one them even says [00:12:45] is the presidential candidate the labor party, that is how laughable this can [00:12:49] be, so isn't this because that's that's a vacuum because the [00:12:52] last time you were here was still... don't have a name to who [00:12:56] your presidential candidate is, so uh, they've been able to try and [00:13:00] fill up the space, if you don't mind, now you should be able [00:13:04] to tell us who your candidate is, our candidate is [00:13:07] Dr. Sunday, fine young [00:13:11] man who whose ideas is with Nigerian [00:13:14] youth, he has been speaking to Nigerians, he might not have come to China's [00:13:18] TV, but he has been all over the social media talking to the youth in [00:13:22] Nigeria because of his age, he's the youngest. among the park is in short is [00:13:26] the most educated presidential candidate in Nigeria today, he has a PhD in [00:13:30] governance and leadership, he's a fine gentleman that Nigerians are [00:13:34] really beginning to buy his preachments, his you know his messages [00:13:38] to Nigerias, so he is there, he's not, we don't have [00:13:42] a presidential candidate that is hidden, so it's not like there is vacuum [00:13:46] somewhere, it's just some people trying to just create confusion, [00:13:49] so this statement saying that they are supporting they have [00:13:53] adopted uh uh presidente, this is not [00:13:57] from the labor party signed by comrade Ken or musi, [00:14:01] i say that name is nonexistent in labor party, there is nobody that [00:14:04] vers that name, and we [00:14:08] and and and that statement did not emanate from the labor party, [00:14:12] you see when this what kind of damage or concern such [00:14:15] statements are causing your party as you move to the [00:14:19] well this, when this happened some persons even wanted [00:14:23] me to issue statements. [00:14:26] to to deny this, i can't use the platform of national public secretary the labor [00:14:30] party to respond to these people, i'll be oxygenating this, you [00:14:34] understand? so i just felt maybe this morning maybe there's a need to [00:14:37] just address it once for all and move on, [00:14:40] you know the there is nothing happening in labor party other than the [00:14:44] fact that there are two guys, we've reported because this is this is a [00:14:48] brazing act of impessonation which we have even reported to the Nigerian [00:14:51] authorities to look into, so um these are just to guys [00:14:55] trying to use [00:14:56] the their their presence within the social media to create [00:15:00] confusion here and there, there is no, there is no vacuum, there's no confusion [00:15:04] within the level ranks the labor party, this clearly is a threat has the labor [00:15:08] party approached the police so that some kind of investigation we petition the [00:15:11] authorities and they are looking into it, yeah so the investigation is [00:15:15] ongoing, preliminary findings from your party uh should be [00:15:19] pointing somewhere, is this from some we know where he [00:15:23] emited from, i've told you that some guy who cl who was the [00:15:27] national youth leader the party when Julius Abure was a chairman [00:15:31] is the architect of this and he's even equally parades himself [00:15:35] as the presidential candidate the labor party he can... understand what we are talking [00:15:38] about, you understand? so a political party where INEc [00:15:42] has said, "INEC is the regulatory authority for all the political parties in Nigeria, [00:15:46] and has come out to say this is the the national [00:15:50] leadership the party, you understand? in short, as matter of fact, [00:15:54] inec has published names of presidential candidates and the fellow's [00:15:58] name is not there. so why are you causing confusion everywhere? the courts in [00:16:02] Nigeria have spoken about who who the leadership the labor party, [00:16:06] who the national leader?" is the national chairman of lever party [00:16:10] is the inec has gone to in clear obedience to the court orders [00:16:13] inec has gone ahead to to recognize senatorsman as a national [00:16:17] chairman the labor party, we have gone to self [00:16:21] nomination forms to nigerians and they've bought a nomination forms and we prepared [00:16:25] the list of our candidates and forwarded to INEC and INEc has published list of our [00:16:28] candidates that excluded the fellow you understand [00:16:32] so and he's still going around saying he's a presidential candidate and he's not even member the [00:16:36] party to start. you now what worries many Nigerians is that the [00:16:40] liberal party uh has been able in the last [00:16:43] election uh to have what you call an unprecedented [00:16:47] mobilization of huge number of Nigerians uh to get [00:16:51] into the political fray uh it is [00:16:54] sad that the labor party is still a mesh in some [00:16:58] these issues [00:17:00] uh what's the leadership doing to ensure that the labor party does not [00:17:04] allow some these concerns uh that [00:17:08] we're discussing now and some others uh impact [00:17:12] negatively in his uh 2027 campaign [00:17:15] well like you see [00:17:17] this thing you're seeing [00:17:18] is not peculiar to level party there [00:17:20] are people laying claims here and there to one issues or the other even [00:17:24] in APC so [00:17:26] you know why that's why I said it's unprecedented the labor party [00:17:30] came from the bring to being one the [00:17:33] top level I mean political parties in Algerias. of [00:17:37] young people the generation x z, so people are [00:17:41] asking, how concerned are you to bringing the labor party [00:17:45] back to design the where where [00:17:47] it was in 2023? you know, it was so unfortunate that the moment that [00:17:51] election ended, that crisis we went into that [00:17:54] crisis, you, [00:17:56] but we, gladly we've been out of it, and the current [00:17:59] leadership championed by senatorsman is working - [00:18:03] seriously to reposition the party where he was [00:18:07] into. and even surpass it and as matter of fact [00:18:11] uh she has made tremendous progress in that regard, we've gone [00:18:15] to rebuild our structure even far better than how it was in [00:18:18] 2023. the last time i was there i let you know that labor [00:18:22] party today is better structured than he was in 2023 [00:18:26] today, if you had this kind of structure we have now in 2023 we would have [00:18:30] been we would have won that election, that election we lost it on account of [00:18:34] lack of structure because we have institutional members the [00:18:38] party in NLC and the TUC that we did not honest that potential in [00:18:41] 2023, their membership is captured in the constitution the party, [00:18:45] but now we have gone back to marry the labor [00:18:48] unions, [00:18:49] the the organized labor, and you can understand with me and agree with me [00:18:53] that there is no pulling unit area where you don't have a serving civil servant to [00:18:57] retired one. let's bring in Iia from Lagas [00:19:00] quickly, hi, [00:19:04] so many issues to to look at really uh when all [00:19:07] conversations are are coming up here and there, so just to be [00:19:11] clear uh, Mr. Sowa, you're saying that the labor [00:19:14] party does not have anything to do with the rainbow coalition [00:19:18] being touted [00:19:19] around. [00:19:25] Well, what's the questions Suleiman posed here was as [00:19:28] regards a statement issued by a [00:19:32] certain Keno Mosu who said that he is [00:19:36] the the the... state youth leader the party a those [00:19:39] states and in that statement he proptedly endorsed [00:19:43] president and said that he had that the labor [00:19:47] party youth leaders of states have endorsed present bolatinu and [00:19:51] we are saying that that statement did not come from us so now [00:19:55] coming to the rainbow coalition labor party is not in [00:19:59] any coalition with anybody we be it [00:20:02] g100 because i know that there is another coalition called the g100 [00:20:06] coalition that is being hold by some opposition political parties, we are not part [00:20:10] of that, we are not part the rainbow coalition as a political [00:20:14] party, so labor parties going into this election as a stand alone [00:20:17] political party, and we are angling, we have presented a presidential [00:20:21] candidate that we believe has what it takes to govern [00:20:25] Nigeria, to bring us out the woods and we are going out to campaign for [00:20:28] him and produce him as the next president of Nigeria, [00:20:32] now in terms of uh reaching out or conversing with [00:20:36] young people, "It would seem like most the [00:20:39] time, the only time we hear the voices of [00:20:42] political parties or their spokespersons, it's towards [00:20:45] elections, uh, how would you respond to any young person right [00:20:49] now?" " asking that question, secondly, and I think Sili has [00:20:53] referenced this, so let me be specific, the reason that [00:20:57] there are those who believe that the reason that the Labor party, was so [00:21:01] prominent in the 2023 election is because the candidacy [00:21:05] of Mr. Peter will be, so but now, as Sulai [00:21:09] has asked, we, I'm not even sure many people are [00:21:12] aware that the liberal party has a presidential [00:21:16] candidate, much less even see him visible, so what? [00:21:20] are the chances that you see of your [00:21:23] party making any significant inroad in this 2027 [00:21:27] elections? like [00:21:31] i said earlier, we we are anchoring our hope on the [00:21:35] structure that we have built nationwide, we have a [00:21:39] formidable structure that can sustain [00:21:42] victory, because last election we lost it because we didn't have [00:21:46] structure to sustain our victory, now we have young... presidential [00:21:50] candidate that that is already talking to Nigerians like [00:21:54] I said, so um, I'm pretty sure that before this [00:21:58] election takes place, Nigerians would have been able [00:22:01] to absorb the the his messages and [00:22:05] uh and get to see what he's telling Nigerians about, like I said, he is [00:22:09] the most educated, he is the youngest, [00:22:11] and you can agree with me [00:22:15] that all over the world now there is a this shift that [00:22:18] people should people should... [00:22:20] look in the direction of young people, look at what's happening in Senegal where a young man who is [00:22:24] less than 50 years you know is taking the the country to another level and [00:22:28] it belongs to the age group of this our presidential candidates so [00:22:31] yes I agree with you that in 2023 it will be brought some level [00:22:35] of rejuvenation within the party yeah and when he left it looked [00:22:39] like that dampun because because it was attended by [00:22:43] some crisis that rock the party but we've come out of that and uh and [00:22:47] we are progressing in the right direction those would also ask [00:22:51] whether or not uh the labor party has become [00:22:54] one, here is why, you you just mention now [00:22:58] that even though the inec has and the court have recognized the [00:23:02] leadership the labor party as is, there are those who would wonder [00:23:06] whether or not on the one hand they uh [00:23:10] hurts the former members the party or [00:23:14] members the party that are offended or are not happy with the system [00:23:18] have been assitched and secondly, this, I mean, you just [00:23:22] spoke about one person having a dichotomy of sorts e [00:23:25] states, the same thing is happening in River State, so it makes the question [00:23:29] whether or not the labor party has actually healed the [00:23:33] wounds within its own [00:23:34] house. [00:23:38] um, I or like I have always maintained, there is no [00:23:42] political party that is free of people with [00:23:45] divergent opinions, as long as it remains [00:23:49] polities. uh about who gets what, when and how, people [00:23:53] must express their views one way or the other, and sometimes those [00:23:56] views might not be intandem with what the national leadership the party [00:24:00] holds, so so and it it costts across every political [00:24:04] party, even in APC that where they have the president, there are [00:24:08] still people who disagree with him, there are people people who disagree with the [00:24:12] leadership the APC, there's pressed one or two grivances within the ranks [00:24:15] the party, it doesn't still make that party a party that is ridled [00:24:19] with crisis, no, we don't have issues that - someone sat [00:24:23] down a those states an unknown name that - we have [00:24:27] verified and it doesn't exist and wrote a letter and say is [00:24:30] endorsingful, it doesn't create crisis in labor party or someone [00:24:34] in river state who said the belongs, he decided to join a coalition, [00:24:38] the labor party, i am here to tell you as the national public security that we are not in [00:24:42] any coalition, he did that on his own and uh and the [00:24:46] party the entire party organ is not shouldn't be dragged into that. [00:24:50] well can like to thank you for your time all - like speaking with you and we do [00:24:54] hope that we also be looking to get [00:24:56] in those concerned who [00:25:00] signed that document as soon as our producers are able to get them [00:25:04] they be here to speak towards if they truly uh [00:25:08] faceless or they've got the face are you and uh [00:25:11] well should we leave this for some other time do you have a word for [00:25:15] app now in your language well [00:25:19] um "the official language of channel's television [00:25:23] is English language, however, if you want to know it, just [00:25:27] stick with our socials, you will get more of that on [00:25:29] that. okay, we tr this out [00:25:33] everyone out there on our social platform, because last time i saw [00:25:37] tablet been named ok, is was that in osaun [00:25:41] state, and i thought that it was going to be something, but i'm [00:25:44] swiman and i'll wait for you on our social platforms to see what we [00:25:48] find there, thank you. in such nice company, [00:25:52] well just to to to give you clue to lie [00:25:55] that um uh usually some new words in local [00:25:59] languages are more descriptive than nomenclative.
