[00:00:01] to the leaders, is the leaders that know how to talk to the people? let a [00:00:04] leader, whether is [00:00:05] of the leader that help me to pay my children's feed my children or [00:00:09] transport me to work, [00:00:10] in the dad come and tell me who to vote for, so [00:00:12] and that's why i say [00:00:13] it is the people versus the APC, they are in delusion, so they keep [00:00:17] telling the say oh win five stays, they are still looking at this, you see [00:00:20] 2023 was was um was [00:00:23] of like a primal election because people were looking at was baseline election and the [00:00:27] three candidates none [00:00:29] of them had that... being government being government, mean at that [00:00:32] level was not president, um peter b was not [00:00:35] president and bola was not, they were all candidates, but we've seen [00:00:39] presidentubu in the last three years, we've [00:00:41] in seen what is capable of doing and we say we don't like it, it has ruined our [00:00:45] lives, it has not made our life better and we need a change, we need to [00:00:49] go in the different direction, so if i can [00:00:51] understand thinking that everything is fine, [00:00:55] he just bought [00:00:56] of gereguso, he doesn't he doesn't, he's [00:00:59] of okay. Okay, but should go to, we should talk to the people in town and you see what [00:01:03] they are, what they are, what they [00:01:08] of are going, we're totally out of time uh, maybe if we can do this in [00:01:08] of just one minute, because I'm literally out of time, the [00:01:12] issue [00:01:13] of the cour road, we understand there has [00:01:14] been a realignment, what do you make of it, and this issue [00:01:19] of of of uh, what do you call it now, price modulation as well, imagine [00:01:22] discount [00:01:24] non that is saying that the federal government copied from him, just your quick thought on these uh [00:01:28] three things I've just raised or two things in one minute please, well I [00:01:31] mean, I mean, the the the Calava [00:01:34] Coastal, we can see call it [00:01:37] of me coastal, I mean this is why we continue to say transparency, the rules about [00:01:41] transparency in relation to procurement exist for [00:01:45] of a reason, when you bypass that you pay, now nobody knew the terms of [00:01:49] agreement, how they signed the contract, how they awarded the contract, the what [00:01:53] in what the delivery deliverables are, now we don't know what they are going to do, how are they going [00:01:57] to go, they say oh they [00:01:58] in suddenly of found that they can no longer go along that road, but where did we do [00:02:02] any competitive bidding for that contract? is the most [00:02:05] in opaque contract ever awarded in Nigerian history, the most [00:02:09] expensive per kilometer road ever awarded in Nigerian history, now they are [00:02:12] turning around to tell us it cannot be done, so it is characteristics of this government to [00:02:16] do this kind of thing, but let's see how they come out of it in the coming days. then on the [00:02:20] issue of 30 days discount, well i we don't even [00:02:24] know what to make of that, because since they have announced it, because sometimes when you find [00:02:28] yourself [00:02:29] of [00:02:29] of in a [00:02:29] in a ditch. the least you can do to yourself is to stop digging, what by [00:02:33] making that [00:02:33] of announcement, prices, even at the NNPC filling stations have risen up to [00:02:37] 1,400 and more, because you when you read the details, say it was [00:02:41] NNPC doing promo, and you ask yourself, if NNPC is doing promo, [00:02:45] then what is the business [00:02:46] of the government getting involved in that and using that to [00:02:49] of to to disturb everyone and giving the impression that they are finally doing something about [00:02:53] the heartship the people are going through, so is the is the [00:02:58] in is their falsehood and their deceat catching up with them and and and they can't get out of it, Nigerians know [00:03:02] what they are doing, they can't get out of it, I must thank you so [00:03:06] much uh for coming through as always when we call on you, appreciate so much, we're happy [00:03:09] that at least uh for this election we're going to be talking issues not muslinging, we're going [00:03:22] does not adc does not do much slinging, we talk [00:03:24] of about of issues, we still have three months to the election, let's see how that plays [00:03:27] out but uh uh [00:03:31] national publicity secretary, thank you so much, we appreciate, thank you sir, [00:03:34] of appreciate, thank you, thank you, and we take a [00:03:38] break, and when we come back after this break, we talk about what happened in Enogu state, did [00:03:41] anybody die due to incident at the airport at the canubeam [00:03:45] international airport over some campaign related issue [00:03:49] of of the NDC, the government is speaking, the people are speaking, we'll find out details [00:03:52] when we come back in just the moment, still with [00:03:55] us [00:04:03] a Filmamat university is one [00:04:04] of the fastest growing private universities in Nigeria with 100% accreditation in the [00:04:08] last nationwide NUC accreditation exercise across Universities in Nigeria. [00:11:12] Welcome back, let's switch guess now to what played out in Enogu state where we understand there was an [00:11:16] incident at the akanu biam international airport w some persons from [00:11:20] the NDC as part their campaign went to the airport maybe to welcome one [00:11:24] their - persons, the guests and things turned uh a [00:11:28] bit chaotic, and um, [00:11:32] there were comments in fact there was another incident at the NDC secretariat [00:11:35] to learn where someone was reportedly shot and died, but [00:11:39] the government is saying none of this or not, nothing of such happened in [00:11:43] terms the death, try to explain that it's not the only state government that [00:11:47] had the, if you will fraka at the airport, but it is the airport [00:11:51] authority and the NDC members, well we have the [00:11:55] uh SSG of Denugu state government right here with us in Alego studio professor [00:11:58] Chile Prof, thank you for coming on the program, thank you so much for having [00:12:02] as i saw your release [00:12:05] uh that they are insisting, in fact what is out there in terms of [00:12:09] perception is that there's [00:12:12] hostility against descent, there is not a [00:12:16] level playing field for opposition to thrive augu [00:12:19] state, is that what it is? so um [00:12:23] again thank you for having me. "this is false [00:12:26] narrative that is being occhistrated by uh [00:12:30] some elements within the opposition group. Enogu [00:12:34] states at no point in time is demonstrate [00:12:38] any pushback against the [00:12:42] opposition expressing themselves, interacting. In fact, the [00:12:46] governor has been very clear that inugu [00:12:49] states, one thing that we're very clear is that we're going to ensure [00:12:53] that there no criminality. you know conducts that may [00:12:56] undermine the security the state, but the governor is [00:13:00] never had any issues about people interacting and [00:13:04] engaging. uh, this incident again uh goes to [00:13:08] point to that, incident that happened between the NDC and [00:13:12] fan, and the NDC uh [00:13:16] uh turned it around to make it into your thought, what really [00:13:20] happened from the accounts you have? okay, so from our findings, because [00:13:23] we also heard... but at that point in time we were at the ara [00:13:27] square where over 10,000 teachers had [00:13:31] gathered to endorse his excellency Dr. Peter Nube Simba, so when we [00:13:35] started hearing this after the rally, we wanted to check [00:13:39] to find out what happened, first we looked at the police uh [00:13:42] release uh, what we gathered was that [00:13:46] the uh supporters the candidate the [00:13:50] NDC had uh gone to the [00:13:52] airport for a the commencement of [00:13:56] a state uh campaign rally, [00:14:00] so at the point of entry into the [00:14:03] airport, the airport authority pushed [00:14:07] back, and it was that pushback that now [00:14:10] engaged a joint security outfit to be able to [00:14:14] disperse the crowd, and in that whole process there were [00:14:18] bits of misunderstanding of course uh with police uh [00:14:22] with the air force and airport authorities pushing [00:14:25] people uh, some people ran off and he created that whole [00:14:29] persona that there was an issue any state [00:14:32] government does not run f and state government does not [00:14:36] determine what a federal agency [00:14:39] does so it's [00:14:41] not an enable state so why why are they pointing in the direction the [00:14:44] government so this goes to the pattern that they're trying to create [00:14:48] fal narrative to come across as if they are the [00:14:52] victims we believe an issue. based [00:14:55] campaign where people present their own [00:14:59] manifesto, their approach to governing and [00:15:03] state that is outside what the govern is currently doing, [00:15:07] issue based campaign or discussion, it's not something that is the governor [00:15:11] is adverse to, is not something that we push back at, [00:15:15] but if you look at what happened in all bfia earlier again [00:15:18] a fraction the opposition had a [00:15:22] frack and got into and incident, very violent incident, [00:15:26] the police is now investigating and the individual who [00:15:30] is a part the NDC is being held now reminded for further [00:15:34] prosecution, again they turned around and said is the... abc [00:15:37] led government and the governor that is also perpetrating that, [00:15:41] so what we found out is that they are planning the [00:15:45] opposition to bring in talks into the state to [00:15:49] create this to to now support this force narrative [00:15:53] that they put in there and enable state is invested significantly as [00:15:57] you know into security and keeping our safe our state safe for [00:16:00] everybody with a 30 [00:16:03] billion million dollar uh [00:16:07] invest. ments that we're looking at bringing into inuugu state to build [00:16:10] - gdp to 30 billion, the last thing we will do after all that [00:16:14] significant investment is to now okay straight [00:16:18] criminality a state so so so let's talk about something we read over the [00:16:22] news, you can correct me if i'm wrong that because we're talking [00:16:25] about giving everybody a level playing field yes uh we've seen [00:16:29] and this is not unique to any state looks like [00:16:32] i don't [00:16:33] know is a nigerian thing where the dominant party seem to if you for instance [00:16:37] it goes legos you see the president's uh bill [00:16:40] board advatorials for the governor uh [00:16:43] the the the candidate the the APC in the state as well [00:16:47] as the president, I'm sure if you go to other states whose candidates of other [00:16:51] parties similar things happen looks like they dominates and literally so where [00:16:55] i'm going to with that is we understand that 150 million na [00:16:59] is being charged as outdoor advertising uh [00:17:03] bill for political campaign is that correct [00:17:07] yes? It's correct, isn't [00:17:08] that to, isn't that discrimination by price? Okay, so [00:17:12] I'd like us to put it in context, yes, so the other [00:17:16] states around, this is not an recently we also saw [00:17:20] the one uh from the FCT, theogo is [00:17:24] charging 150 million, [00:17:27] million for the whole the party, for all the [00:17:30] candidates the political [00:17:34] parties that will be contesting any state and... [00:17:37] state is charging about 250 million for [00:17:41] candidates are you paying [00:17:42] the are is the government paying that as well? the parties are going to pay, the [00:17:46] government is not the one, this is APC, is APC going to pay [00:17:50] that as well? so the APC uh government, the f5c [00:17:54] party, if it is going to put up there, [00:17:57] it is not, prof, prof, the governor is going to campaign for this election [00:18:01] right or wrong, his posters and billbard are going to be all over the place, so [00:18:05] his party has to pay every other person has to pay. Yes [00:18:07] and we have not said that [00:18:11] APC will get a free ride, we said that NSA, [00:18:15] which is the agency that statutarily uh in charge of [00:18:19] billbs and advertisement have set out a price for [00:18:22] political parties, and this is not unique to any state like you pointed [00:18:26] out, it's just that this again is part of [00:18:29] that false narrative that we're trying to make things [00:18:33] difficult for the opposition uh to play any [00:18:36] state. don't you think that if your party also comes out, i don't want [00:18:40] to say part because you're in government, you're not really a politician, but [00:18:43] say are you a politician prof, or you're not a politic, i'm a product [00:18:47] of a political process, exactly, so if don't you think [00:18:51] that if the government also comes out to say this is the receipt that we are also paying this [00:18:55] as a party, not as government, because if [00:18:59] parties are paying then the the party that is also fielding [00:19:03] candidates which is in the incumbant should also make that payment as well, wouldn't you think [00:19:07] that? to ds a bit of this narrative you talk about, so [00:19:10] i don't think with this, yes, i don't think that the [00:19:14] issue that's the opposition is pointed out is that the [00:19:18] APC or any other party is not paying, i think [00:19:22] what they are talking about is the uh the high [00:19:25] nature the amount of money that's placed in, so are you considering reviewing [00:19:29] it? isn't that so much? i am, i am saying to you, if you check [00:19:33] your research, you will find out that innu states and [00:19:37] about the lowest across the southeast and in [00:19:41] some some states even higher than [00:19:48] looked at very, very carefully and said that price, so it's not [00:19:52] all discouraging anybody, because it's quite disturbing when they say uh, because [00:19:55] congratulations again, i saw the world bank report, the NDU that [00:19:58] Inu and Lagos State, I think the only two states that can be able to fill uh [00:20:02] sort out their recurrent expenditure via the [00:20:06] IGR. so that's commendable from the state, however this issue of [00:20:10] being nostal to the opposition is a great concern prof, just moment, let me [00:20:14] bring in professor is the DGNdu governorship campaign [00:20:17] council, he joins us virtually uh prof, welcome to the program, I don't how [00:20:21] much time we have, uh, thank [00:20:25] you, thank you for coming on the [00:20:28] program, yes, I'm happy I have two professors, I'm privileged [00:20:32] today, so talk to us, the the the the SSG said [00:20:35] here that the accusation or the literal indictment put [00:20:39] on the state government [00:20:41] is is false because they are not fun, they are not [00:20:45] the police that the fracker or the chaos that happened at the [00:20:48] airport was... between NDC [00:20:52] and airport officials and then the one that happened at the secretariat the [00:20:55] NDC was amongst yourself, so [00:20:58] how did the government come into all of [00:20:59] this? i thank you [00:21:03] because professor respect so well so [00:21:06] much, of course you know that the [00:21:09] SLG which I respect my senior brother is not the [00:21:13] sposeman the f, we made payment to use [00:21:16] that in line with international civil. [00:21:21] aviation organization, standard [00:21:23] and recommendation, the validity of a payment to use the [00:21:27] airport last only one year, and what [00:21:31] do have a non ticketed personality or [00:21:34] persons who make payment to the airport, [00:21:37] you need to notify them, is any point where [00:21:41] they f, think that will be security [00:21:45] bridge to the country that you not be able to use the airport, what [00:21:48] the is for them to say okay, they use their own [00:21:52] security and security would notify us to [00:21:56] stop, what will [00:22:01] i need to tell you what happened, we are there to receive [00:22:05] our governorship as [00:22:07] candidate, we have made payments as a non [00:22:11] ticketed recipient, of course you should know the [00:22:14] aeronautical fees and charges is [00:22:18] source of income to the government. because we are dealing with government of [00:22:22] taxation, of course we did that, all what we [00:22:26] supposed to do have done them ready to do what to [00:22:29] do, and as we approach the [00:22:32] airport we saw against violation the own [00:22:36] rules, they found rules, they found [00:22:39] their own rules with sub policemen who came into the airport [00:22:43] and also military person to stop us, what does that mean [00:22:47] shows? it means that somebody saw was given information [00:22:50] authority, we don't with that, okay fine, we [00:22:54] need to leave the airports, we need to go to our own campaign [00:22:58] office, i have to tell you what happened is [00:23:02] quite and it is not good for democracy, we came [00:23:05] out our principal boy citizen who doesn't [00:23:09] want to have issues, i hate when people don't do the right [00:23:13] thing and they started, we [00:23:17] left the airport drove out the airport [00:23:21] airport [00:23:21] in asking was the the person we said okay let's [00:23:23] go to [00:23:23] our own place on coming out of airport [00:23:27] what was so [00:23:31] people there all vehicles which was stopped from [00:23:34] entering to the airport the vehicles over 20 [00:23:38] to 30 v broken [00:23:40] down but just moment because of [00:23:44] time so you said you left the airport you were head because [00:23:48] uh said the government had nothing to do this and a fan uh [00:23:51] NDC issue and whatever happened at police issue and then [00:23:55] whatever happened at the NDC was within you between yourself [00:23:59] so when you say the government is involved one way or [00:24:03] the other let's talk about what happened at that secretariat how was the government [00:24:06] involved because i don't think [00:24:08] i kind of caught what [00:24:09] you said okay let tell what happened [00:24:13] we came to the airporting [00:24:14] what i did when we were in [00:24:16] the airport in the secretariat to start our programs in line with a [00:24:20] plan what happened that after before after the speech [00:24:24] the g candidate we just have people shooting [00:24:28] outside the compound sp shooting [00:24:31] people [00:24:32] start scing [00:24:33] we were all scattered there to make [00:24:37] factory vehicles where all people were [00:24:39] there yes i think you made your [00:24:43] point let me come back within the time we have just a limited time prof [00:24:46] yeah you heard him i'm sure you heard what he said yes have denied that the [00:24:50] government is not involved, yes, but he said they left the airport, they went [00:24:54] to their secretariat, and even [00:24:56] at the secretariat they did not have peace, because some people started, do you are [00:25:00] you saying that it is members the NDC that started shooting at [00:25:04] their their members, because that's what they are saying, they have been shooting themselves, [00:25:08] so what I'm saying is that the matter is under investigation [00:25:12] by Navian police force, there were no state officials [00:25:16] branded as in state officials that were involved. in [00:25:20] the frackers that occurred there, just like there were no inugu [00:25:24] state actors sitting at the airport, pushing back [00:25:28] at the membership of NDC, whatever happened is [00:25:31] between NDC and the f authorities, [00:25:35] whatever happened in the at the secretariat is matter that is under [00:25:39] investigation now, so it will be a bit [00:25:42] premature for people to uh assume a [00:25:46] conclusion when a matter is currently being investigated. by the [00:25:50] police, I can't associate with a [00:25:53] conclusion that is not an evidence-based, so we're going to [00:25:57] find out what the police investigation is all about, but what we are [00:26:01] concerned about is that... we see this again as a false [00:26:04] narrative trying to create an impression so that they people can [00:26:08] perpetrate an activity that wondermine the peace and [00:26:12] security augu state all right let's go to one minute [00:26:15] gentlemen so why would you say [00:26:18] that any good state for instant the government is giving you level playing [00:26:22] field uh to [00:26:23] you know campaign and and uh do your politics in one [00:26:27] minute how how do you think that we had at the [00:26:31] world people were short? you sayid giving [00:26:34] playground to campaign, [00:26:38] how do [00:26:38] you think that when our secretary to do a frag off [00:26:42] we all had and lot of people set in the [00:26:46] hospitals? how do you say that? mean i become so worried [00:26:50] if we cannot really say that [00:26:52] we are. all right, so let's come [00:26:56] to prof your last thought on this, so dr. they have [00:27:00] maintained their position. very clear, [00:27:03] we welcome free [00:27:06] association, we welcome free engagement, we welcome [00:27:10] issues based campaigning, all this comments that [00:27:14] seem to distract from the kiss issues, which is candidates should be [00:27:18] free to present their view about how they want to rule [00:27:21] any state differently, and his excellency Dr. Peter is [00:27:25] very clear when the time comes, we engage issues, so the and [00:27:29] a single incident does not equate. to a general comment that [00:27:33] anyway is not given a plane field in 10 seconds if [00:27:37] any the man who has always been the eye the son is [00:27:41] coming to your state just like um governor alias [00:27:44] government or the government of a those state asks [00:27:48] for adotsy he needs to inform them does he need to does any [00:27:51] candidate need to inform your governor that is coming to the state i [00:27:55] think uh mrp has been [00:27:58] coming uh and he has a [00:28:02] very good understanding of how enus process, we [00:28:06] he's not had any issues augu state prof, thank you [00:28:10] for coming on the program, well the early day still early days, the elections are still [00:28:14] far away, we want peace across but [00:28:18] the SSJ uh secretary to state government of thank you so for [00:28:21] coming also professor is the [00:28:24] DGNDU governorship campaign council, prof, thank you as well for [00:28:28] coming on the program, thank you very much [00:28:33] All right, and that's it on the program, thank you so much for your time and company, I'm [00:28:37] Jeffrey Ozonga, [00:28:37] bye-bye.
