I urge [00:00:03] you to visit the website, learn about the risks and where to [00:00:07] get [00:00:08] tested. [00:00:13] of [00:00:17] Well, that's [00:00:17] of an almost impossible act [00:00:19] a to follow, but we're going to give it [00:00:21] a red hot crack. I'm Will Kingston and this is Patrick Christy's tonight [00:00:25] Late edition. Breaking tonight. We inherited a prison system at [00:00:29] capacity. and really difficult [00:00:31] of in decisions have had [00:00:32] in to be made to, this is shocking, grooming gang members [00:00:35] are said to be freed under a loop hole in labor's early release scheme, [00:00:39] and [00:00:41] of according to the census, 72% of Somalis here live in social housing [00:00:45] compared to 16% [00:00:46] of the population overall. some common sense: [00:00:50] the tories are set to ban foreign nationals from access to social [00:00:54] housing, and Metropolitan police is accused of press censorship for [00:00:58] investigating a journalist who tried to... expose a Cambridge professor who's alleged to [00:01:02] committed plagiarism inside we should have done that so big organization will make [00:01:06] the odd mistake. now former professor Jason [00:01:10] Arday has [00:01:10] of resigned as [00:01:11] of Cambridge investigates plagerism allegations, but and of course [00:01:15] they have, the Guardian suggests the real problem is racism, [00:01:18] and are you [00:01:20] in aware that [00:01:22] of by the definitions used in that particular report, King [00:01:27] of a Charles is not a white Britain. Do you think he is a white Britain? [00:01:31] 'well many people have [00:01:33] a different uh interpretations of that nick, mean we can split [00:01:36] hairs, well that was rupert lo on the subject of [00:01:40] whether or not the king is white [00:01:42] of british, the telegraph has now run a story with restores co-founder [00:01:46] suggesting that nadiel frage was bought by the jews [00:01:48] and westminster council who [00:01:52] a know how [00:01:53] of pubs at the moment are in such a predicament they're [00:01:57] trying to ban people from standing up and they'. to go back to [00:02:01] table [00:02:01] of service. Andy Burnham's top ally has blastered the [00:02:05] toury run Westminster [00:02:07] in council for considering banning drinking while standing up when at the pub. [00:02:11] And finally we'll be getting into the latest twist in [00:02:14] of Burnham's social [00:02:14] of media style. Now this is a [00:02:17] of barn and no one can tell otherwise. Apparently are some people might [00:02:21] call it a cob or a b or a [00:02:25] of [00:02:25] of batch. [00:02:33] a [00:02:38] Welcome to Patrick Chris tonight Late edition, ladies and gentlemen, with [00:02:42] of me Will Kingston a very special day for [00:02:44] in GB of News and [00:02:45] of indeed of for this wonderful country. Let's get straight into [00:02:49] Friday's front pages, starting with the metro with [00:02:53] of er, a great day for Britain [00:02:54] of a of fundamentally of unbritish [00:02:55] of story, of metro running with sitting room only in [00:02:59] pubs, guardian, [00:03:01] of cambridge unleashed grotesk racism with ard appointment, [00:03:05] not quite how i see it, but we'll get to that later, the eye every [00:03:08] of river [00:03:08] of and lake in England [00:03:13] in a polluted in of with toxic [00:03:15] of of chemicals, the sun, i, the web, sun continuing to be in good form, the daily mail, foreign nationals face [00:03:19] social housing ban under the touries, we'll get to [00:03:21] of that one [00:03:21] in in in a moment, the mirror, andrew, my stalker [00:03:25] of ordeal, there will be much sympathy there, the express, we are failing [00:03:29] sex. victims once again, the telegraph touries to [00:03:33] end social [00:03:34] of housing for foreigners and the times are leading with fraud alert over [00:03:38] loans to foreign students. let's [00:03:41] in get the thoughts of my panel now. i'm delighted to be joined by political [00:03:46] in commentator and former labour counselor [00:03:48] of sebastian. thank you for joining me. just quickly before we [00:03:52] get to uh this news stories [00:03:54] of the day. this [00:03:57] a is a special day for GB News, you have been a friend. the [00:04:00] of channel for some time, how do you feel [00:04:02] of when of you see that wonderful show coming from patrick and indeed [00:04:05] a celebration of everything that's great about this [00:04:07] of country over the course [00:04:10] of of the day? absolutely, I think the of GB and GB News really does stand for great British news, doesn't it? especially because I think [00:04:14] this is [00:04:14] of a of channel which has [00:04:16] of in resonated with the public on mass on such a wide level uh that it [00:04:21] of simply is the case, because [00:04:22] you know what, this is the home of free speech, this is a home [00:04:24] of the very quintissentially British of things to be able to [00:04:28] say stuff, to be able to... positive view that might [00:04:31] of offend of some [00:04:32] of people, in but is probably shared by the other half, and that's what had been [00:04:36] so lacking for so long amongst so much [00:04:39] of the news media in this country, and GB News has been a breath of freshher [00:04:43] and I think the [00:04:43] of ratings uh back that up, yeah, and Sebastian, of course, I think it's fair to [00:04:47] say that your views are probably not shared uh, by the [00:04:51] majority [00:04:56] a of the GB News viewers, but you are, and indeed, everyone who was left of center on this channel, [00:04:57] of incredibly important part of... makes this channel great and we are about [00:05:01] debate, we are about free [00:05:03] of speech, we are about the marketplace of ideas, always here to have some fun debate, i'll [00:05:06] be pain in your backside for as long as well hopefully that's a [00:05:10] long time to [00:05:11] of come, with uh the first story at the top of this hour and [00:05:15] we're going to [00:05:16] go to the express first if uh we made [00:05:19] team uh this is a really really [00:05:22] unpleasant story to discuss but discuss it we must we are failing sex [00:05:26] gang victims once again so labor was accused of gross neglect as a [00:05:30] loophole in the early release scheme means vial grooming gang members will only serve half [00:05:34] their sentences i can only imagine what is going through the [00:05:38] minds of victims and their families at the moment strength and love to [00:05:41] everyone. there indeed, but at the same time I just cannot [00:05:45] understand with this early release program why there hasn't been the [00:05:49] basic job done of saying well, let's just segment all the different types [00:05:53] of crimes and the relatively less serious crimes, whether they be [00:05:57] thought crimes, whether they be white color crime, whether they be petty drug [00:06:01] offenses or whatever, they're the ones that you release first [00:06:04] before low lives like sex gang uh sex [00:06:08] gang perpetrators, yeah, absolutely ' "I [00:06:12] think, look, it's a real indictment of where we are as a country where [00:06:16] our our systems, which are supposed to be there to protect the most vulnerable [00:06:20] in society, and in this case, the young victims [00:06:23] these Pakistani rape gangs uh, have been let down once again, and I think [00:06:27] Maggie Oliver is absolutely right when she says that the justice system [00:06:31] is its knees and you know what, it's been its knees for quite a [00:06:35] while now, and I would say uh, whether it was under the [00:06:38] conservatives, even under new labor in the past, new labor 2.0 now. [00:06:42] "this justice system continues to fail those that is is [00:06:46] supposed to be there to serve first uh, we saw the rotsdale [00:06:50] rapists being released, and [00:06:52] you know what, to make things even worse, not just releasing these [00:06:55] people early, but not being able to deport certainly the foreign [00:06:59] national rapists that we have in this country, because this [00:07:03] government is just simply too weak to stand up for the rights of British uh [00:07:06] people. Sebastian, there is a wide spread perception amongst the public [00:07:10] that the labour party does not take..." [00:07:12] as the I rape gang's atrocity seriously, this surely can't help that perception. well, [00:07:16] the labor party was the only party that has um launched a [00:07:19] statutory equiry into the rape gangs. uh, we've now seen Bern, do, [00:07:23] as they well were dragged kicking and screaming to get it, did, they did it, and [00:07:27] other party can say that honestly. the other part of [00:07:30] it is that today, Bernam has has said he's going to make this a priority, he's personally looking into this, he's asked the [00:07:34] ministry of justice to make sure that people who were involved in [00:07:37] rape gangs are not freed early, so I'm surprised to tell the express has run this [00:07:41] story to be on. um there's very little to it now that the government has [00:07:44] grabbed, well the government has the story's moved on but beyond [00:07:48] where we are in the express, no just because Andy Burnam says he's going to look into it, as he said [00:07:52] he's going to look into a range of issues from illegal migrants economic [00:07:56] growth, it doesn't mean it's going to happen, I'm sick of people in the labor party saying we're just [00:08:00] going to look into it, I want to actually see outcomes and action, well [00:08:04] what what's the head the story, what's the lead here is just saying they were accused [00:08:08] of gross neglect and then looking into it, neglect if this is just [00:08:13] you know here say on the part the express, what about the rotchill rapist that was released last month? i'm [00:08:16] not saying it's here say, i'm saying it's an old story, oh it's an old story, so does not moved [00:08:20] on, how's it moved on, has it moved on for for for for the victims [00:08:24] these? no, i'm [00:08:25] not saying it's that [00:08:25] what i'm telling you moved on, so what i'm telling you [00:08:29] deported to pakistan, that's what was telling us, so so if you just [00:08:33] pause for moment, i can tell you what i'm trying to say here is that burnham has asked the ministry of [00:08:37] justice to look into this and make sure are not freeed from prison, well clearly [00:08:41] not because he's having conversations. today on this very matter, has he gone a holiday [00:08:44] or not? yes, but is he continuing to work, also yes. holidays for prime ministers aren't [00:08:48] like holidays for you and me, the work doesn't stop. so why is he on holiday then? why is he [00:08:52] on holiday? yeah, when would you like him to go on holiday if not now? well certainly not not at the [00:08:56] time when the country needs leadership to deal with the [00:09:00] the uh rapists that we are importing on mess on our shows? you didn't quite [00:09:04] answer my question that if he shouldn't go on holiday now, when should he go on holiday? well, maybe he should take a [00:09:07] leaf out of prime minister Modi's book and not go on holiday while the [00:09:11] primary issues of... this country remain unsolved, will they ever be [00:09:15] solved? well, so you're admitting that Andy Burnam is unfit to solve this problems? [00:09:19] what I'm admitting is that you haven't quite answer my question when I said when should he go a holiday? and you [00:09:22] have, I i can answer that pretty simply, like everyone else who [00:09:26] starts new job in 6 to 12 months time, no one takes a [00:09:30] holiday in the first two weeks of months time, no one, sebastian, you should know [00:09:34] this, takes [00:09:34] a holiday in the first two weeks [00:09:35] of new rubbish, that's absolute rubbish, it's very normal to start [00:09:39] a job and to say i've got a bit of holiday books, [00:09:42] can keep? it's completely normal in corporate life to say that, but we shouldn't be making that [00:09:45] comparison because this is not a normal job and we shouldn't pretend it is, he is the [00:09:49] lead, exactly, he's the leader of our country, so we can't compare [00:09:52] him, he's had six months to prepare for this coup, he should have [00:09:56] been on the job for the whole of summer, why is it running away, [00:10:00] look, [00:10:01] such i think the optics of this, and most people agree with me, are [00:10:05] terrible or the prime minister going on holiday two weeks in, but it is not the main issue here, i [00:10:09] agree with you, it is second order issue, the main issue. is [00:10:12] justice and acknowledgement for the pain of grooming gang, i should [00:10:16] say rape gang victims. um, and i come back to the [00:10:20] fact that i said [00:10:21] in the introduction here, which is why do we why we even [00:10:25] having this conversation that [00:10:26] it is a consideration that rapists and murderers maybe or i [00:10:30] should say uh people who have been found guilty of manslaughter will [00:10:34] be released when there are lower level corporate [00:10:38] criminals and lower level drug offense uh people [00:10:42] guilty of drug offenses are still in there where is why i can someone [00:10:46] explain this to me why is this the case? i don't know [00:10:49] i don't know it's that's a question for the ministry of justice they're making calculations the point is [00:10:53] if they don't intervene the... prisons will fill up a few months time and we'll be a [00:10:57] much, much bigger trouble than we are now, that is the chief concern here, [00:11:00] amen. well look again, this this [00:11:02] is about priorities, these are political choices that are being made by this government, [00:11:06] they have the opportunity to release to free up those prison spaces that neither new [00:11:10] labor, neither new labor 2. neither the conservatives built, right? okay, [00:11:14] fine, but where's the priority? the priority is they're [00:11:18] releasing people who should never see the day of light of day again outside the [00:11:22] prison, so if you think that's a choice, can you explain [00:11:24] to me what you think the politic? advantage of making that choices? well, the political advantage [00:11:28] is of course, probably uh, this labor government is too weak to stand up to [00:11:32] the Pakistani government, refusing to take back, let's be honest, vast majority [00:11:35] these rapists are Pakistani origin, no, [00:11:37] no, no, what's the political advantage, what do they have to gain from making such a perverse [00:11:41] choice, if you think it is a choice, it's a political choice, because it's quite simple, right, the they're [00:11:45] trying to assuage a political vote bank that for far too [00:11:49] long, the green party has taken from them, that's certainly the thinking within the labor [00:11:53] party, what other choice, why do you made [00:11:57] think this has choice, so so just to be clear, you're saying [00:11:59] the the labour government is deciding to free sex gang [00:12:02] um perpetrators, which we've established that they're not bause they're looking into it and they're going to [00:12:06] looking into it, it's a bit like you can't wave magic [00:12:08] one, exactly the [00:12:11] problem, this is the problem that i have [00:12:15] with labour politicians in this country is that they forget that they are in control the legislative [00:12:19] branch of government, they run the legislature, they can control the laws and [00:12:23] ch the laws labor and... this country in the last few years, they've both talked [00:12:27] about how hard it is to to move things in whitehall, it is not [00:12:30] straightforward and any politician te tells you it's easy, so [00:12:34] why why why is labor party standing in elections [00:12:37] promising hope right to the british people when it doesn't how to [00:12:41] govern [00:12:42] so get out the way let reform in and one thing i would say now [00:12:46] and one one thing i would say is one thing [00:12:49] i would say i don't care one thing i would say is [00:12:53] that it may or may not be in I think it's probably more just gross [00:12:56] incompetence to be letting these sorts of people out, but either way it can't [00:13:00] be allowed to happen. Let's go to and said this very [00:13:04] well, another question of priorities, and this is on the front the daily mail team if [00:13:08] we can get that up, foreign nationals face social housing [00:13:11] ban under the touries. foreign nationals will be barred from living in social [00:13:15] housing under conservative plans revealed today. Sebastian, [00:13:19] surely just a common sense move. Um, well no, look what happens if you if you [00:13:23] do that, you've got. their taxes and fallen on hard times [00:13:27] have paid and then what are you going to do, deport them? yep, and then what? then [00:13:31] they leave the country, then we do mass deportations, well no, you ask them to leave the country their [00:13:35] own vision, if you don't then they are illegal and they should be deported, so we're just going to we're just [00:13:39] going to throw people out their homes, we're going to create, they not their homes, they're not their homes, [00:13:43] no they're not, they're not, sorry, what, they're not their homes, if you occupy [00:13:47] building, that is your home, are we all agreed on that as definition, no, no, the home [00:13:51] is something you own, what tell that to all the renters watching it? [00:13:55] home: no, [00:13:56] are you sure you want to stick to that? you could change your mind, i'd encourage you to. well, look, the fact the [00:13:59] matter is home is what you own, well, yeah, if you're a home owner, you [00:14:03] are what you own, yes, correct, but you can also live a home that is your home that you don't [00:14:07] own, if we're going to get into pedantic, i'm not [00:14:11] presant buse, i'm saying this policy would throw people out their homes, [00:14:14] and you're weirdly disagreeing with me, i'm disagreeing with you as someone who is foreign [00:14:18] national who doesn't think i'm entitled to extra benefits from the people of this [00:14:22] country, remember most people who move. here, the vast [00:14:25] majority of move here have no recourse [00:14:27] to public funds, which means they can't get social, it's only when [00:14:31] they get indefinitely to remain that they become entitled to those benefits, so the [00:14:35] the myth is that the people are coming over here and getting straight onto these houses, it's just not [00:14:39] true. look, we're giving billion [00:14:42] pounds every month in universal credit to foreign nationals, right? [00:14:46] foreign nationals, there [00:14:47] are not people on in here as to to be citizens, they're [00:14:51] foreign nationals, they have no affinity with this country, if they did they would become citizens. "That's [00:14:55] not true, you can live a country and not be national the country and have great affinity to that country, [00:14:59] well how do you have an affinity to the country if [00:15:00] you don't want to become a citizen? I could move to France tomorrow, I could be the biggest francal and not take [00:15:04] French, I would have a deep attachment to that country, so that's not being a [00:15:08] patriot is it, I would, I wouldn't, I wouldn't frame [00:15:10] as anfinity to the country, but I would frame it as that we only have [00:15:14] limited resources and limited money to spend, and that money should be [00:15:18] devoted primarily to the citizens of this country, and I think there is [00:15:21] cception amongst many people at home that there is..." [00:15:25] increasingly prioritization of people who are not citizens the [00:15:28] country, the country, in the fact that foreign nationals are getting social [00:15:32] housing, some for national some in London, it's up to [00:15:35] 75% - social housing goes to people [00:15:39] uh households with foreign born head of households right, that had [00:15:43] that shot up under the conservative, i believe it's closer to 50%, which is still [00:15:47] a shocking [00:15:48] in some parts of London, it's up to 75%, okay overall yes [00:15:51] 50%, that's shockingly high, now the the point here is under [00:15:55] the conservatives and between 2010 and [00:15:57] 2024 this type of household shot [00:16:01] up in in in in terms of his numbers, so the fact that you know [00:16:05] Helen Waitley and Kemy Badnock come around and say oh yes ban social housing for [00:16:09] for for [00:16:09] foreign nationals is for the birds, they didn't do it when they were in [00:16:12] government, and what makes them the public are going to trust them to [00:16:16] do it if they ever get a chance to go back in government? well that is an interesting question as to [00:16:20] whether or not there is uh that trust deficit with the [00:16:23] conservatives, because I acknowledge I think Kemy Badnock is doing about as well as [00:16:27] possible an almost impossible job, but too many, well many [00:16:31] people still say [00:16:32] you what, it doesn't matter because I just don't trust the conservatives to follow [00:16:34] through. um, yeah, no, I think that's a comp valid criticism um, [00:16:38] they've had 14 years and they're going through normal cycle, what I would say also is, let's [00:16:42] not underprice the tories, I think they will have their day again, they will come back and they will [00:16:46] be a credible electoral force, they're part of a cycle at the moment, they're licking their [00:16:50] wounds, they're finding their future and they will get there, that's an interesting question though, because we've also [00:16:54] seen [00:16:55] at various points in this country's history parties decline but [00:16:59] then fade off into insignificance, labor in 2019, it felt like we'd never be in government again [00:17:03] and it only took what five years after that, that's true, but this is very different political [00:17:07] dynamic. what was two to two and a half party system is now six-party [00:17:11] system and there are legitimate alternatives on the right now if you [00:17:14] don't want to vote conservative in the way that there weren't legitimate alternatives on the left in [00:17:18] 20 well in the early 2020s for left-wing voters. that's [00:17:22] true, but it depends if you believe that the momentum that reform [00:17:26] has will continue and i don't know, we're starting to see [00:17:29] a bit of tailing off but there's not nothing to be taken for granted there. they still have very small [00:17:33] clutch of MPs in parliament. we talk a lot about the polem but when that goes away what will they have? man, [00:17:37] that's actually fair question: do you think I think even reform supporters would [00:17:41] acknowledge that at the moment they have platewed or maybe even are a bit of a [00:17:45] rut? do you think they can refine that energy [00:17:49] and that spark which characterized the early days their their run? well [00:17:53] look uh, first of all reform got more than 4 million votes at the last [00:17:57] election, reform won more than 1400 seats the local elections [00:18:00] and the last month or two months the the [00:18:04] the the establishment elite has thrown everything and the kitchen. at [00:18:07] reform uh to try and uh uh in their ways [00:18:11] try and discredit uh the the idea of reform and yet [00:18:15] look at [00:18:15] the polling, where do we stand? we haven't seen a burn and bounce, reform is [00:18:19] standing absolutely solid as [00:18:22] the top performer in [00:18:23] the polling, and that's that's not necessarily true labor's taken over reform in the poll [00:18:27] of poles, it's still within the margin of error, but it's not true to say that the burn bounce, [00:18:31] there is no, it's literally what i just explained to you, labor has overtaken reform in the poll of [00:18:34] polls, there is no burn and bounce, okay people? labor has just overtaken [00:18:38] reform in the bounce, [00:18:39] that's not [00:18:40] a bounce, but well yes, labor was seconds now it's first, reform was [00:18:44] first now it's second finally saying yeah we voted reform we [00:18:47] got rid of Starma, at least Starma's out, that's how that's how unp, you can [00:18:51] characterize [00:18:52] it how you like, but I'm telling you that labor has gone up in the poll since Berlin became, well look we [00:18:55] know what Burnham stands for, his open board was Burnham, do you really think we've got [00:18:59] a thousand people, thousand invaders coming in every few days [00:19:03] into in into the Kent coast, do you really think Dover and Deal is going to vote [00:19:07] labor? "I mean, the number of small boats people have come over has fallen by [00:19:10] 44% so far this year, and it's the lowest since 2023, so any [00:19:14] characterization of what's going on over there needs to take that into account, but going back to [00:19:18] reform, um, the other issue they have is keyman risk. Reform is vehicle for [00:19:22] Nigel Farage and their job now is to operationalize and to be more than just the [00:19:25] man. The problem is, if he can't shake off those concerns around the £5 million pounds [00:19:29] that he took, the party's going to be a big big troubled. I think that decline will continue. Okay, [00:19:33] well let's have a uh response on that express front page for..." Let's go to - story that we've been [00:23:55] covering in the last couple of weeks, but it's uh, it's the story that won't go away in some [00:23:59] respects. That's from the Guardian, it's saying that Cambridge unleashed [00:24:03] grotesque racism with Arday appointment. Call [00:24:07] for inquiry into how professor Interplagerism Raw was [00:24:11] given top post. Now [00:24:14] I just find it fascinating here that the story isn't [00:24:18] how say the... "students under Jason [00:24:21] Arday have been jeopardized by having someone who is clearly [00:24:25] not of a Cambridge level standard teaching them, or how someone [00:24:29] who in my view basically profited off what is [00:24:33] evil ideology in Dei, or even how there [00:24:36] is, I think substantial evidence now that [00:24:39] there was a great deal of dishonesty both in his academic career and his [00:24:43] personal life. No, no, no, aman, the story is, [00:24:47] well, the response has been racist, well it's all..." is the playbook isn't [00:24:51] this with so many the academia elite that their [00:24:54] first port of call is always uh to claim oh if we are [00:24:58] being criticized for well very [00:25:01] basic lack of decency and and [00:25:05] honesty academic life then it must be racism it must be [00:25:08] that they're saying all this because the color of our skin well [00:25:12] you know what uh what this whole thing has exposed uh will is [00:25:16] that um this is a this type of thing is a slap in the [00:25:20] face of every single person from ethic minority who has got [00:25:23] to a place of achievement through merit, through hard [00:25:27] work, and by taking on someone like this [00:25:31] so-called professor who has embellished so much of his his career [00:25:35] and his achievements is basically saying, well you know what, people like [00:25:39] you who are not white can only get here [00:25:43] if through the bigotry of low expectations. Sebastian, I've [00:25:46] got no doubt you will be able to find racist comments on social. video in [00:25:50] response to this scandal, unfortunately that's something which is [00:25:54] always going to happen, particularly when you have anonymous accounts for [00:25:57] example, is that really the story here? um, I'm surprised this is even a [00:26:01] story to be honest, [00:26:02] I think... 'there are two things going on, one is it silly season, we got to fill the papers with [00:26:05] something uh, and the other is that um he became lightning rod as he [00:26:09] says himself [00:26:10] for for dei. why did the telegraph uh do this investigation in the first place? do [00:26:14] they care about people plagierizing their phds? i don't think they do, they only [00:26:18] care because it helps them to further their own political views. no, but i think that's such [00:26:22] disingenuous way of looking at it, because there have been people, because there have been people who have [00:26:26] been bullied for years now under the banner of dei. we've been [00:26:29] told you have to go along with this cult or else you're a bad person, unless you're [00:26:33] unkind, unless you're dishonest, there have been plenty of people who have been set [00:26:37] back because we've taken an approach which is not based on merit, but based [00:26:41] effectively on the color of people's skin, and now when you see that this [00:26:44] clear ideology is so blatantly leads to to poor [00:26:48] outcomes, you can't just wave it away and go, well it's a non-story, it [00:26:52] represents something which has been the ideological corruption of education [00:26:55] institutions for the last decade, [00:26:57] i don't think it leads to poor outcomes at all, was this appointment sensible, we're beginning to see [00:27:01] probably [00:27:01] that it was? come well, [00:27:03] this is what exactly what I'm saying, [00:27:04] so this was probably not a good appointment as we're now seeing the story [00:27:07] unraveled, you go back to 2015, 2016, how many [00:27:11] black people did Cambridge take in somewhere between 30 and 40, an [00:27:15] appallingly known low number, they've done a lot of work since then to [00:27:19] increase their intake from ethnic minorities from state schools and they've [00:27:23] done fantastic work in that time, so that is the real deI here and it [00:27:27] has positive outcomes and it allows people to have opportunities [00:27:30] that they otherwise wouldn't have had nonsense. "this has got nothing to do about ethnic [00:27:34] minorities or not give me, they're not having a chance to get to Cambridge or [00:27:38] Oxford, uh, if you look at the the breakdown of numbers into [00:27:42] academic achievement, but British Chinese, British Indians, they're doing [00:27:46] better than everyone else, are they not ethic minorities? you're quite right, but other ethnic [00:27:50] minorities aren't, and we have to ask ourselves why and [00:27:53] unty those nots to allow them to have the same opportunity that it's not the [00:27:57] institutions that are racist, which institutions? so why do we need [00:28:00] dei? but yeah, because institutions aren't being equitable [00:28:04] in the way that they are equitable to British Indians and British Chinese but not to I [00:28:08] don't British Afro Caribbeans or British Nigerians or British guns why because of systemic [00:28:12] issues that we have to unravel that's what Dei is so they're racist [00:28:15] towards uh someone who is off British Afro Caribbean origin but [00:28:19] they're not racist towards British Indians that's not what I'm saying what I'm [00:28:22] saying why do we need [00:28:26] deI yeah okay it's white working class boys who are the least performing [00:28:30] academically for them. [00:28:37] 13 years ago the intake for state school children [00:28:40] was pitifully low, it was way out of with it's up [00:28:44] in the 70s or 80s [00:28:45] now, they've made so [00:28:49] much progress, they've made so much progress in that time, and it's because of [00:28:53] hands on initiatives, they go out to areas, they they match with [00:28:57] areas the country, they go to schools, they go to state schools, they go to difficult schools [00:29:01] and they encourage them apply and they've been successful, I'm really, really proud to see [00:29:05] that, Sebastian, it isn't just about representation though, my father is a university [00:29:08] lecturer back in Australia, and they are now, as lecturers, [00:29:12] effectively told to look past things like poor grammar, to look [00:29:16] past things like the structure in which an argument is [00:29:19] compiled, and to look beneath the surface to try and find the scholar [00:29:23] within, because there are so many people who may say they are [00:29:26] neurodivergent, or may say they come from poor backgrounds, the bottom line [00:29:30] is universities now are putting excellence. before uh or [00:29:34] after I should say um other considerations when the pursuit of excellence should be the [00:29:38] foremost concern of university. admissions have always done that because there's one [00:29:41] thing they're looking for and that's potential and [00:29:43] they acknowledge that if you went to a public school you're going to turn up with a certain amount of gloss [00:29:47] on you, you're going to be able to speak a certain way, if you went [00:29:50] to a school in special measures you won't have that same privilege, but they are looking for the potential in [00:29:53] those children so that they can nurture them in those great institutions, take [00:29:57] structured logical thinking for example, particularly in say the humanities [00:30:01] that is the... point the humanities is to be able to think clearly [00:30:05] when you say disregard logic and structure and look at you know [00:30:09] potential for example, you're taking away the point the exercise. well [00:30:12] no, if you can say to someone oh that person uh puts forward a good argument but they haven't [00:30:16] read this, this and this because they haven't been exposed to it in the national curriculum, whereas this chappy [00:30:20] from from a public school has had the time and the exposure to be able to do [00:30:24] that, that is imbalance that those admissions tutors are now trained to [00:30:28] see, and that is a good thing, but basically what you're saying is [00:30:31] look if look a bit brown or if you [00:30:33] look a bit black, we're going to treat you as a bit more thick than than your [00:30:37] contemporaries who are white, that's the bottom line here, what you're saying, i'm [00:30:40] struggling to this discussion because that is literally, haven't [00:30:44] even gone near saying that, that's exactly what you to suggest that, [00:30:48] just i just can't come out with that, well that's what [00:30:51] i sebastian, said that, i think there is a [00:30:55] self-bigaty of low expectations when it comes to DI, which is what iman [00:30:59] was getting at in that there is this perception that if [00:31:02] you come from ethnic minority background, you need special help, you [00:31:06] need to get a leg up, that i believe is [00:31:09] what was getting that's true at all, [00:31:12] looking matching potential. with [00:31:15] opportunity, so I've explained it already, but I'll repeat [00:31:19] myself, I'm sorry viewers, this is going to be boring for you, you've heard this one already, because [00:31:23] the viewers [00:31:23] are sick of [00:31:24] it, Sebastian, they've been hearing it for the last [00:31:26] 30 [00:31:30] years as public school, [00:31:32] and therefore [00:31:32] if those both [00:31:33] of those children come for their interview, the person interviewing them has to factor [00:31:37] that in, and they have to say, you won't have read the complete words of Shakespeare, you might have had [00:31:40] that opportunity, well let's go to the daily mail, which I think is a more. [00:31:45] accurate way of framing this conversation, that is, the Cambridge plagiarism [00:31:48] scandal exposes in chilling detail just how many of our [00:31:52] institutions have now been captured by woke dogma. your [00:31:55] thoughts, well [00:31:57] it is, it's exactly what has happened to our institutions for the [00:32:00] last three decades of [00:32:02] what i call the blarite orthodoxy, the fact that [00:32:06] Cambridge of all places right, for for so [00:32:10] long right, this country has been known around the world, in fact it's one of our biggest [00:32:14] exports right? higher education and for [00:32:18] Cambridge uh to come down to be the [00:32:21] epitomy of everything that has gone wrong in our academics institutions [00:32:25] is a real indictment of where our country has gone wrong, but even more than [00:32:29] that, I would also argue is is is one thing that is [00:32:32] so looked aside when it comes to [00:32:36] university, that is the number of foreign students, so don't you agree [00:32:40] though that Cambridge's reputation now would add the reputation of elite [00:32:44] university? has been trashed not just by this [00:32:47] scandal, but by a perception, and I think it is the correct perception, that has been [00:32:51] overtaken by woke progressive dogma. I [00:32:55] i would encourage you to spend more time outside these four walls, because I i [00:32:59] don't see that when I'm speaking to people who don't appear on this channel, that is just not [00:33:03] how Oxbridge is seen, um, I, I would encourage you to to put [00:33:06] that, I don't think it's how it's always been seen, I mean, what is this work [00:33:10] dogma, what does that look like, how does it manifest itself, this exact [00:33:14] scandal? is an unfortunate incident, but what is it a [00:33:18] wider example of? can you give me another example? it's the fact that it [00:33:22] happened, it means that all these institutions, particularly [00:33:26] Cambridge, have simply not got the integrity, so once again [00:33:29] we don't, we're not talking about this, can i you get an example of another issue that [00:33:33] that represents that point? our universities are absolutely rampacked [00:33:37] with not learning, with protesting about foreign [00:33:40] wars, is that not universities have always been about protest, it's where people find [00:33:44] their political. [00:33:52] is another very good example from Harvard in the U.S. GB News has contacted professor [00:33:56] Arday for comment but he has previously denied allegations of racism a [00:33:59] statement released by the good law project arde said sadly the [00:34:03] years since my appointment have also been marked by an unrelenting level of public scrutiny and [00:34:07] personal attack the relentless accusations speculation and public [00:34:11] commentary have taken a profound toll on me and those I love he [00:34:15] has previously told the Times that he lacked adequate supervision during his [00:34:18] PhD because of his autism and learning disabilities, he said he was [00:34:22] accountable for mistakes, but that what I am, not is [00:34:26] liar. Okay, a Cambridge University spokesperson said the University of [00:34:30] Cambridge has begun investigation following new information about [00:34:33] Professor Arday's academic qualifications and honorary appointments in order to ensure [00:34:37] a fair process, we will not comment further until this has [00:34:40] concluded. Okay, coming up in just [00:34:43] moment. "are you aware that by the [00:34:47] definitions used in that particular report, King [00:34:50] Charles is not a White Britain. Do you think he [00:34:54] is a vibrant? Well, many people have [00:34:58] different uh interpretations of that Nick, I mean we can split [00:35:01] has. That's Rupert Loe on the topic of whether or [00:35:05] not King Charles would be categorized as white British. The telegraph is now [00:35:09] reporting that restores co-founder has suggested Nagel Farage [00:35:12] was bought by the Jews. [00:38:29] Welcome back to Patrick Christies Tonight Late edition, with me, Will [00:38:32] Kingston, let's go to the daily telegraph, restores [00:38:35] co-founder suggests Farage bought by Jews. A co-founder of [00:38:39] Restore Britain has been accused of suggesting Nigel Farage was bought by Jewish [00:38:43] supporters. This is Charlie Downs who responded to a post on X by the reform [00:38:46] leader in which Mr. Farage had said he could not be bought with an image showing [00:38:50] him in front of science for the reformed Jewish alliance. [00:38:54] So a couple of things that I would like to make clear on the outset. number [00:38:58] one, I personally don't have dog in the fight on the right [00:39:01] uh, I would personally like to see the right united [00:39:05] uh, I um, I have really, I personally [00:39:09] like Rupert and I like lot of what I've heard from Restor, particularly [00:39:13] when they were saying that uh private healthcare should be tax-deductible, [00:39:16] incredibly sensible policy, and more importantly than [00:39:20] that, they deserve all the credit in the world for driving the independent [00:39:24] rape gang inquiry when no one else really had an app. type [00:39:28] two, so my point would be aman, again, without wanting [00:39:32] to get into reform the restore because i think either them are [00:39:36] preferable to labour, greens, lib [00:39:38] dems, but when they get pulled [00:39:42] into these sorts of conversations, it's very easy then that you just [00:39:46] focus on this and then you lose track the really kind of other [00:39:50] significant things which i think they are putting forward, well look, i think some the stuff that [00:39:53] restore talk about, yes of course you know lot of people in [00:39:56] the country wanted. address, whether it be having a more [00:40:00] equitable economy, all the rest of that, but having said that, I think [00:40:04] this type of comment is absolutely a disgrace, there is [00:40:07] other, comment to be made on this, but the [00:40:11] point here is, I would say that this also highlights, as much [00:40:15] as I would love the right to unite and get rid of this socialist [00:40:19] government, but the point here is restore simply aren't [00:40:23] serious when it comes to presenting a government in waiting or [00:40:26] people that are... serious in presenting themselves, I mean, other than [00:40:30] Rupert, uh, who even is this Charlie Downsky, I mean, we've [00:40:34] never heard of him, no, no, that's not true, Charlie's actually now become one the [00:40:38] main spokes people for Restore, he's previously been on on this channel, [00:40:41] as well as many other um, probably most the major media [00:40:45] organisations in this country, um, but there [00:40:48] is in my view no uh, no [00:40:52] excuse for remarks like these, Sebastian, not at all, I think this is probably the part the show where we [00:40:56] would agree with each other uh because this is this is horrible, it's one the oldest [00:41:00] anti-semitic tropes you can pull out, isn't it? and and to use that just [00:41:04] debases you entirely, especially a party that is going to be in the crosshair for anybody who [00:41:07] wants to call them racist, they're getting given pretty good cause to it at this [00:41:11] rate, and look, [00:41:12] what i would suggest as well is, and you know this may be entirely fair that it may be [00:41:15] accusation around say a potential um intimacy with [00:41:19] Israel as opposed to the Jews, but even then [00:41:23] that is just political stupidity the highest order because you [00:41:27] yourself up to attacks like this and they should be smarter and smart enough to [00:41:31] know that that will then dominate the headlines yeah mean i don't [00:41:35] understand the political move found here its way [00:41:38] it's onto the front page the telegraph. newspaper that's read by lots of people that they might like to win [00:41:42] over um [00:41:43] and I don't think people anyone in their right mind will take this kindly [00:41:46] whatsoever and without getting into the specifics of [00:41:49] particular uh election battles taking place at the moment, do [00:41:53] you think there is any chance that reform and restore can find [00:41:56] some sort of accommodation? look, I think for Reform uh to [00:42:00] win a proper majority at the next election, reform needs to build [00:42:04] a coalition of voters that probably includes lot more [00:42:07] people than what restore might bring - on board, yes, lot [00:42:11] the people that are supporting restore around the country are very decent honorable [00:42:15] people who want the right for Britain, and I think when Push comes to shove at the [00:42:19] ballot box, the vast majority them will say, yeah, you know what, who's actually going to turn [00:42:23] up and do the work and get into number 10, is it going to be Nigel, is it going to [00:42:27] be rupert, and Sebastian, uh, I noticed Kai Willshow previously [00:42:31] uh, or on Patrick show just before, said uh, that the left currently is far [00:42:35] more united than the right, and it was met with - a round of boos from [00:42:39] from the room, but I hate to say it, I think he's probably right, yeah, I mean, it's [00:42:43] not often we get to say this, but it's probably true isn't it, and it's less so that the left are particularly [00:42:47] united, it's more so that there's so much going on in the right at the moment, and it's not just [00:42:51] political, it's personal as well, that the beef between Nigel [00:42:55] Farage and Rupert Lou runs deep, and this is what the other thing which the right needs to [00:42:58] understand, and that is, even if Reform are leading narrowly in the polls, let's [00:43:02] say it's 24% versus 23%, that certainly isn't a [00:43:06] guarantee the success or... in the next [00:43:10] election because we know in the weeks and months leading up there will be [00:43:14] very coordinated campaign to say if [00:43:17] you live in [00:43:17] this this particular area vote in this way if you don't want to [00:43:21] see Nigel Farage get elected um tactical voting will [00:43:25] be hugely significant in this coming election and therefore [00:43:28] Reform or whoever on the right needs to probably have clear distance [00:43:32] with the next best uh with the alternative in order to [00:43:36] win well I don't I don't [00:43:38] I don't disagree with [00:43:39] that I think look there will... be lot of tactical voting being attempted, having said [00:43:43] that, there is also a big number of people that haven't bothered to come out and [00:43:46] vote for very long time because they haven't seen anything worth voting for [00:43:50] and we saw that in the EU referendum uh about 10% of people that came [00:43:54] out to vote in that to vote leave came out after 30 years not [00:43:57] having voted for anything else and I think it's up to all leaders to enthuse the public [00:44:01] and I think Nigel and Reform are enthusing the people to come out in enough numbers [00:44:05] even at this present time reform is [00:44:09] holding. strong at that 24-25% mark, [00:44:13] it's there is no burnum bounce, there [00:44:15] is no bad knock bounce, the conservatives have gone down a few points, [00:44:18] burnham is languishing again within a margin [00:44:21] of error, the point here is as we go get towards the next [00:44:25] election, people will consolidate around who they want as to [00:44:29] to lead Britain out the last chance saloon that we find ourselves in, [00:44:33] and the uni party is worth his reform, [00:44:37] okay, well coming up in just moment ladies and [00:44:42] Westminster Council, who know how [00:44:45] pubs at the moment are in such a predicament, they're [00:44:49] trying to ban people from standing up and they're trying to go back to [00:44:53] table service, I love [00:44:57] Martin's response there, a day we've been celebrating Britain, you have [00:45:00] pub, tour a toury run area, considering banding standing [00:45:04] room in pubs, we will be getting into this shocking story after the break, ladies and [00:45:08] gentlemen on the people's channel. With me, Will [00:49:14] Kingston, let's go to the metro for the final story the late [00:49:18] edition, and this is sitting room only at [00:49:21] pubs. stop punters standing and buying booz at the bar [00:49:25] risks return to COVID, pm's experts caution. Jeez, I [00:49:29] get sick of seeing that word experts, don't you? Uh, the pubs will be dragged back to [00:49:33] COVID times if they're forced to swap vertical drinking for table [00:49:37] service, next advised the PM warns. Uh, [00:49:40] again, and this is again for me, something that just goes [00:49:44] against a great British tradition of a nice summer's [00:49:47] day, or even indeed a winter's day, standing outside on the footbath, outside [00:49:51] pub and having... app: tell you what, if you are in Australia and you try and do that, [00:49:55] you'll have security guard that crash-tackles you and says you're in violation of some sort [00:49:59] of health and safety rules. it's great that you can do that in this country and so it's a very [00:50:03] sad thing that this is potentially under attack or be it a a limited [00:50:07] capacity. well, indeed, I [00:50:08] mean it's a great British tradition, and the bottom line here is that it's [00:50:12] under attack a supposedly conservative run [00:50:15] council uh, and it it really backs the question, what sort of [00:50:19] renewalk is trying to put this conservative part? through [00:50:23] when uh two days ago she says, oh well, [00:50:26] you know what, councels aren't very important, they're just there to organize your bins and [00:50:30] fill your pot holes, and then two days later we're hearing that her [00:50:33] counselors are wanting to ban a great British tradition which [00:50:37] is being able to not queue and walk up to the bar [00:50:41] in as disorganized way as possible and still get your pint of [00:50:45] bear, yes Sebastian, I'm trying to work out what the rational for this would be, is is it [00:50:49] effectively forcing people to have meal along with having a drink? to try and [00:50:53] protect the pubs from financial perspective, i actually can't really get my head around it, so i think [00:50:57] this is about where this is happening in the country, this is central london and uh [00:51:00] westminster council is in hawk to its voters and these are people who live [00:51:04] there and lot them don't like noisy nightlife, the problem [00:51:07] is we're all we all own central London, it belongs to all of us and we [00:51:11] have to be out to go to pubs and have nice time and fall out of clubs at 3:00 [00:51:15] a.m. and the council has to allow that to happen, but there's a conflict there [00:51:19] between those of us who like a good night out and people who live in westminster. expected to be [00:51:23] quiet, which is baffling because it's literally in the middle of our capital, on that I couldn't agree [00:51:26] more. uh, again as I said, this is a great British tradition, and a day where we are [00:51:30] celebrating Britain. Aman, your favorite British tradition, please, [00:51:33] rambling, go on. having a luzurely walk across [00:51:37] the British country side unrestricted uh, through private land, through [00:51:41] public own land, and just be able to enjoy, not a brisk pace of [00:51:45] course, a leisurely pace that you can take it, the greater British countryside, [00:51:49] which is of course, unlike what we have been told, is not racist. [00:51:54] England's green and pleasant land, I love it, Sebastian, mine's the [00:51:58] pup quest, because as the playw James Graham put it, it combines two [00:52:02] great British things, drinking and being right. [00:52:06] Yep, I absolutely love it, I was going to say country walk as well, actually I [00:52:10] absolutely love it, but I also love um board game by fire in the pub [00:52:14] a winter's day with a Sunday roast, I'll take that any day of well [00:52:17] I guess I won't take it any day the week, I'll take it on [00:52:19] Sunday, but I'd do it any day the week [00:52:23] if I possibly could uh let's go back to uh [00:52:26] today to the papers ladies and gentlemen um we've got the eye [00:52:30] paper going with every river oh sorry I'll start with the metro sitting room [00:52:34] only. for pubs which uh we sadly just had to cover, the eye, every river and lake [00:52:38] in England, polluted with toxic chemicals, the sun, eye, the [00:52:42] web, the mirror, Andrew, my stalker ideal [00:52:46] ordeal, the express, we are failing sex gang victims once [00:52:50] again, the times fraud over loans to foreign students, the [00:52:54] Guardian Cambridge unleashed grotesk racism with RDA appointment, the daily mail, [00:52:58] foreign nationals face social media social housing band i should say under the tories, the [00:53:01] telegraph tories to end social housing for foreigners That's all we have time [00:53:05] for, ladies and gentlemen, a big thank you to Aman and to [00:53:09] Sebastian, thank you, we've got a big late show live coming up very [00:53:13] soon for you, ladies and gentlemen, uh, we do not have er Ben Leo or [00:53:17] Bev for you, but I've heard they've got a half decent filling to uh to take [00:53:20] you a journey, we're really looking forward to it a great day for the people's [00:53:24] channel and indeed a great day for GV News, make sure again get in [00:53:28] touch with us at gbnews.com/yorsay so [00:53:32] you can tell us what you love, both about GB. news and about [00:53:36] this magnificent country, i'll be reading those comments out on the late show live, [00:53:40] get excited, stay with us, lot more to [00:53:41] come, [00:53:48] expect warm spells with the odd rude [00:53:52] interruption, box boiler sponsors the weather [00:53:56] on GB News, good evening, welcome to your latest juby [00:54:00] news, weather update brought to you from the mat office, a warmer day to come for many [00:54:03] of us for Friday, sunny spells for many, but much the rain will [00:54:07] remain focused across more northwestern areas, but most notably [00:54:11] across the far north and west of Scotland, as a weatherfronts approaching [00:54:15] throughout this evening elsewhere, high pressure will dominate to bring a [00:54:18] dry and clear nightfall, many so it is going to be a cooler night for [00:54:22] much of England and Wales, [00:54:24] some eastern areas of Scotland as well as northern Ireland, rurally temperatures [00:54:28] falling away down to the low single figures, towns and cities will [00:54:32] be a little bit warmer than that to start the day, but still pretty... fresh wherever you [00:54:36] are, a strong wind across the far north and west of Scotland will [00:54:39] accompany the heavy rain, they'll persist through much of Friday across [00:54:43] the western irs as well as the highlands, some heavy bursts in that [00:54:47] with strong gusty near gale force winds, much dryer though for more [00:54:51] eastern areas of Scotland as well as more southern areas where it will remain relatively [00:54:55] warm through much the day. northern island seeing fine start to the day, [00:54:59] temperatures around 14 or 15 degrees here and elsewhere across England, [00:55:03] apart from the odd shower across some... coastal areas, it will be dry and [00:55:06] sunny start to the day, then there will be more in the way of [00:55:10] sunshine than we've had today across much the country, and that means it [00:55:14] will be a little bit warmer too, it's not going to be wall to wall blue skies, [00:55:18] but plenty of bright sunshine through the day, particularly across some southern [00:55:22] areas of England as well as northern Ireland and southern areas of Scotland where [00:55:26] temperatures will climb to the mid-20s across the south and east, [00:55:30] 25 degrees likely across southeastern areas, a [00:55:34] warmer day. come on Saturday, rain still persisting though across more [00:55:38] northwestern areas, the winds will be a little bit lighter, but still quite a [00:55:42] wet day here, elsewhere though, remaining dry, temperatures [00:55:45] starting to climb as we pick up a southerly wind, so it's going to be a hot day on [00:55:49] Saturday, even hotter though on Sunday most likely across the [00:55:53] southeast with highs of 31 degrees. [00:55:55] Bye-bye. Expect warm [00:55:58] spells with the odd rude [00:56:01] interruption. Box Boilers sponsors the weather.
