[00:00:00] "One moment, sir, please. report, will a grave exhumation As a country, procedure be initiated by [00:00:04] we have preferred the informal lawyer Abdurrahman Karabulut? We will ask this question, but at the same time, the video version of the images we brought to the screen with photo frames prepared in the report, the uninterrupted version, will also meet with you for the first time on Halk TV screens. Now, I will start talking to my guest, but I also ask our viewers to understand that the images we will show, a video, and actually, the events as they happened live are coming to your screens right now, that is, the images from the night Rojin disappeared and the following morning. Lawyer Abdurrahman Karabulut is with us. Welcome. Welcome, thank you. Now we are talking about the new expert report. There is information, documents, and images that emerged for the first time with the expert report that entered the file. The first thing that caught my attention was the suspect Rukiye Baştimur, and you said there is a discrepancy between her statements and the technical base data. Let's start with these discrepancies, if you wish, because Rukiye Baştimur is also the last person Rojin spoke to and communicated with. Yes, of course, while having this report prepared, we requested from the esteemed prosecutor's office that the file be handed over to a special expert in Mersin whom we indicated. This expert prepared a report specifically on the HTS, base station records, and camera recordings within the scope of the file, as well as the individuals Rojin communicated with on certain social media accounts via email. In this report, four important suspicious situations were identified, and within the framework of these identified situations, we submitted requests to the esteemed prosecutor's office for the investigation of the truth and the clarification of these suspicious situations. These requests are currently being fulfilled, let me state that first. Previously, yes, Rojin's roommate stated in her statements that she entered the dormitory around 10:30 PM, that she tried to call Rojin but couldn't reach her, and then fell asleep around 11 PM. However, when we looked at the HTS and base station records, and within the framework of the data received from BTK, these examinations were conducted, and it is included in the file, we detected that her roommate sent a message to Rojin at 10:50 PM, and the signal from this SMS was from within Bardak village, meaning from the area where Rojin disappeared, at 10:50 PM, the phone pinged a base station. It pinged a base station, yes, so her friend's phone, let's not say pinged a base station, it already pings from the same station. According to GPS records, there is a margin of error of about 100 meters, which will be clarified further with the narrowed base station records. It was determined that she was within Bardakçı village, with her latitude and longitude. This was a determination made by a special expert. Following this, we made a request to the esteemed prosecutor's office to support this, saying that Rojin's roommate's university entry and exit times, as you know, both for the university and for the dormitory she was in, entries and exits are made by fingerprinting at the turnstile, it is not possible otherwise. We requested the identification of these for Rojin's roommate. We requested the identification of all her entry and exit fingerprint records at the turnstile for the day Rojin disappeared and for the subsequent days and months. The esteemed prosecutor's office granted our request, and in the report received as of last week, it was determined that Rojin's roommate exited the university at 7:02 PM on the evening Rojin disappeared. As you know, Rojin's last silhouette was seen at 7:04 PM. This is the exit gate of the university. Which exit gate? The exit gate facing Bardakçı village, meaning we detected her exit from there in Bardakçı village, the village where Rojin disappeared. It is called the university's common location number 6, common gate. We detected her exit from there through the turnstile. The esteemed prosecutor's office detected this. Later that same evening, at 9:02 PM, at 9 PM, hmm hmm, she entered the campus, the university, through the same gate, the common gate facing Bardakçı village. Her entry through the turnstile by fingerprinting was detected. There is no entry to the dormitory that night, also in line with these findings. As you know, when entering the dormitory, you need to fingerprint. So she entered the campus, but not the dormitory. There is no entry to the dormitory. There is absolutely no entry to the dormitory, meaning there is no such finding. Because we took all entries and exits. So Rükiye Baştimur did not go to her room in the dormitory that night. So the records show this. If she had gone, as you know, it is forbidden to enter through the turnstile after 11 PM. The turnstiles do not work. So it is not possible for her to enter anyway. We determined that she did not enter the dormitory, that she did not enter through the turnstile, according to the written response from the prosecutor's office. But interestingly, she exited the dormitory through the turnstile at 10:01 AM. So it is possible that she entered through other ways in the late hours of the night or towards morning, because it is not possible to enter through the turnstile after 11 PM. This creates a suspicion that her roommate was also not in the dormitory until the late hours of the night, that she was outside the dormitory. It is highly probable that she was in Bardakçı village, and these suspicions are formed from our perspective. Yes, Mr. Abdurrahman, the SMS time you first gave was 10:50 PM. Now, at 7:02 PM, she exits towards Bardakçı. At 9:02 PM, she enters, but not the dormitory, but the university campus. And since it is forbidden to enter after 11 PM, perhaps her entry and exit are not seen. She might have entered after 11 PM, and in the meantime, at 10:50 PM, she actually wants to communicate with Rojin and sends an SMS. Let's not forget this, it's also an important detail. And right now, I would like to ask my director Ali to rewind the footage. We are showing exclusive footage. Ali, let's rewind the footage. There is a house. At night, a heavy object is left at that house with the same vehicle. If you can see it too, Mr. Abdurrahman, a heavy object is left at this house at night with the same vehicle. Then in the morning... we are showing the daytime footage because it is clearer. We see the same heavy object being carried. This detail is also included in the report. How do you interpret this footage? Now, in both the witness statements and the minutes dated 10/10/2024, a white vehicle is constantly mentioned. These camera recordings are from cameras detected within Bardakçı village, meaning one of the cameras identified by the police homicide bureau. On the evening or night Rojin disappeared, there is activity at this house, which would be clearer in the previous footage, and it is seen that two men and one woman, two men and one woman, it is clear that it is a woman, according to our findings, an object, a heavy object, was dragged into this house by two people. This finding was made by the expert, and these images were, of course, clarified further with a special device. The next morning, it was determined that the object carried into this house at night was again dragged into this white vehicle and taken away. Of course, these are serious suspicions that could be formed. Unfortunately, no investigation was conducted regarding these. No investigation was conducted regarding the issue we just mentioned. Actually, if the existing findings in the file had been examined more meticulously and more seriously, these suspicions would have surfaced a long time ago. Of course, when we first received the file, we approached the file with the scenario that Rojin was either directly killed, or knocked out, or deprived of her liberty and thrown into a vehicle. In the later stages, the possibility of her being taken to Lake Van by a sea vehicle became a strong suspicion for us. The issues we identified are also of a nature that confirms this scenario. No findings were made regarding this vehicle and the people living in this house. Based on this footage, we requested from the esteemed prosecutor's office to identify who lived in this house at that time, who lives there now, who lived there in previous years, and to identify this vehicle, who the vehicle driver was, and to identify these people at that time. Investigations regarding these are, of course, being conducted by the prosecutor's office. So, you will likely request a grave exhumation, is that right? First, let me ask. Yes, now, within a week's time, since the day we received the file, we have made over 30 requests. We shared some of them. Many of these have been met, over 90%. Investigations are still ongoing, and some have yielded results. Soon, especially after the narrow base station analysis, our esteemed prosecutor informed us in our meeting last week that only 6-7 people remain, and that the narrow base station analysis is nearing completion. Along with this narrow base station analysis, there are suspects whose names we added and whose phones we requested to be examined. These names and phones were given to the team conducting the narrow base station analysis. We expect the narrow base station analysis to be completed within a few days, based on the information given to us by the esteemed prosecutor. If the results of our requests do not satisfy us within this week, we would like to state that we are absolutely determined to exhume the grave and perform the diatom test. I have also discussed this with the family, and they have agreed. Most likely, next week, we will request the grave to be exhumed and the diatom test to be performed. I would especially like to explain this. The diatom test was requested to be performed in January 2025, but the forensic medicine department... will not yield healthy results. What is that test again? Diatom test. What does it determine? The diatom test determines whether a body found in the sea or lake was thrown into the sea after death or after being killed, or if it drowned after being thrown into the sea. And these results provide a result with about 80% accuracy. If the forensic medicine department hesitates to perform the diatom test, we have consulted with Koç University and experts in the field, and we will request that the file be given to Koç University, and we will conduct the forensic medicine part there. Is this still possible? Yes, it is still possible, because the diatoms detected in the bone marrow cells will be the same as those in Lake Van, and samples will be taken from there too. If it matches, a significant result will emerge. We believe that this will be a stronger result than the forensic medicine institution's conclusion that the cause of death should be considered drowning. We will definitely perform the diatom test next week if our requests are not satisfied within this week. Mr. Karabulut, thank you. I also thank you for your efforts. There are a few more points for Rojin that I would like to mention. Now, as you know, the phone has still not been opened here. We reached an agreement with the esteemed prosecutor's office on this. We will find a used phone of the same brand and model. There are those who tell us that they can open this phone, even very easily. We will give the phone of the same brand and model that Rojin used to that expert. If he can crack the password and open it without losing data, we will provide the phone to the cybercrime unit to ensure it is opened. I would like to explain this here. Thank you very much, Karabulut, for the information you shared and most importantly, for your efforts to clarify this incident. I thank you as well, for your contributions. Thank you, I wish you a good evening. Dear viewers, I want to quickly convey one more piece of news. Let's make the closing, at least relatively, pleasant after a heavy topic. History and music met in Beyoğlu. The Beyoğlu European Heritage Days, organized for the third time this year by Beyoğlu Municipality, began with a special concert. History and music met in Beyoğlu. The European Heritage Days began with a special concert. Our district, which has hosted different cultures, languages, and beliefs for centuries, proudly lives its polyphonic and multilayered identity in every street, in every corner. Nadia Fanton, the French Republic's Consul General in Istanbul, also emphasized the friendship between the two countries. She stated that Istanbul is a cultural heritage in itself. Long live cultural heritage, long live music, and long live Turkey-France friendship. This year, within the scope of the organization held with the theme "Heritage at Risk: Inspire, Imagine," more than 60 free events will be held. European Heritage Days will continue until September 20th. We have reached the end of our time, folks. We are concluding. To announce the unheard, to say the unsaid, to show the unseen. From the streets to politics, from markets to financial markets, from street vendor stalls to large market chains. Every morning from 7 to 10, as Turkey wakes up, we will be together in this studio. Good morning, my dear Turkey, good morning, welcome, it is September 17, 2026, Thursday. I, Gökan Kayış, together with my team of colleagues, wish you a smiling good morning and a smiling day, despite all the agendas in "Günaydın Türkiye." I want to say that a perfect storm can be talked about for the whole world, and its reflections are of course happening in Turkey. Those released, those arrested, detentions, this has also spread to the economy. There is serious activity in the fund market and the stock market. When circuit breakers were activated yesterday, Mehmet Şimşek's speech for this morning... economy. [00:00:07] Because we prefer the informal economy, [00:00:10] these kinds of official records, [00:00:13] mathematical data do not reflect the reality of the country and its people. [00:00:16] I especially want to emphasize this. That is, [00:00:20] anyone who has a little interest in these issues, who has done a little reading [00:00:24] about these issues, will more or less [00:00:27] share my opinion and... [00:00:31] "my finding." They can also express these. There are some realities for these [00:00:35] matters. These are not untried incidents. [00:00:38] The discipline we call economics in the world [00:00:42] was invented before [00:00:45] the existence of money. [00:00:47] It starts with needs, because [00:00:51] the basis of economics is the satisfaction of unlimited [00:00:54] needs with scarce resources. [00:00:57] Human beings start needing [00:01:00] right from birth, and they start consuming [00:01:04] resources right from birth. [00:01:06] That is, when you breastfeed from your mother, your mother's milk [00:01:10] is scarce. Therefore, you can breastfeed from your mother [00:01:14] up to a certain point. After a certain point, you cannot, [00:01:17] and you start eating. The supply [00:01:21] of those foods is tied to the land. In a poem, [00:01:25] it says, "The skill of the earth is until what comes from the sky." If it descends from the sky, [00:01:28] the earth overflows and produces [00:01:31] for you. [00:01:33] In economics, when explaining [00:01:36] a demand function, they give the example of a Giffen [00:01:39] good. A Giffen good is actually [00:01:42] what we know as potatoes. In Ireland, there was such a great famine [00:01:45] that people started buying more potatoes [00:01:48] as the price of potatoes increased. [00:01:51] Normally, the demand function works in reverse. That is, as the price [00:01:54] rises, the demand should decrease as the price of something [00:01:58] rises. But'. the demand started [00:02:01] to increase as the price increased. Why did it start to increase? [00:02:04] We actually see a similar situation with gasoline today, [00:02:08] because people have allocated all their budgets [00:02:11] to goods and services they need to survive. [00:02:15] To stay afloat, people have to go out. [00:02:18] As the pump price increases, the amount they allocate [00:02:22] to the pump in their budgets also increases. As housing prices [00:02:26] increase, the amount people pay for housing [00:02:29] in their budgets also increases. Now, as your budget [00:02:32] for essential goods increases, this time [00:02:35] you cut back on life and living. What do you cut back on? You can't [00:02:39] travel, you can't buy new clothes, you can't [00:02:43] consume quality food items. You can't reach anything [00:02:47] that can be called luxury. This time, naturally, those [00:02:50] sectors also shrink. This economics is one of the disciplines [00:02:53] that the Germans emphasize greatly. [00:02:57] Economics is a... [00:03:00] "An economist visualized it as a machine, he made [00:03:03] a machine, the economics machine. You put water in from one place, and [00:03:07] the direction the water goes changes according to the machine's data. That is, [00:03:11] as you play with interest, fiscal policy, and taxes, the location [00:03:14] of that water changes. That water is money, yes, but you cannot manage money [00:03:18] with only these. If money could be managed [00:03:21] with interest and taxes in the world, [00:03:25] no economy in the world would have problems. Everyone [00:03:28] could manage by playing with interest and taxes." Informal [00:03:31] economy, structural problems, legal security [00:03:35] are the fundamental underpinnings of economics. When [00:03:38] you remove these, you can play with interest as much as you want, [00:03:41] you can manipulate tax policies as much as you want. Let me tell you something, Mr. Özgür [00:03:45] says, naturally, rightly, cut the SCT and VAT. [00:03:48] This will have no result. In a country like this, even if you [00:03:52] abolish the SCT, you cannot fight inflation. [00:03:55] True economics does not show this. Don't [00:03:58] these not work with debt? "No, the indebted will not starve to death, at most [00:04:02] they will just become pale. You have three sources of income, [00:04:06] three sources of income. One, you sell your assets, [00:04:09] two, you earn income, three, you borrow. [00:04:13] There is no fourth in the world. There is no fourth one. [00:04:17] That is, humanity will not find a fourth one from a state perspective. What [00:04:20] is selling assets? It is privatization, [00:04:23] it has happened. What is debt? It is the loans we take [00:04:27] from abroad. What is income? It is tax. Now, we also included [00:04:30] traffic fines in this, for example. Now, with these, you can manage [00:04:33] the budget up to this point. You need to put structural regulations [00:04:36] under this. If you appoint trustees to chicken wing sellers, [00:04:40] if you think you can regulate vegetables [00:04:44] and fruits by operating on wholesalers, [00:04:46] you have no chance to manage this economy. [00:04:49] If they are doing these wrong, catch them, arrest them, operate [00:04:53] on them. I have nothing to say about these. Mr. Afşin, the operation [00:04:57] on chicken sellers happened in June. [00:05:00] Uh, following the decision to increase by 25 basis [00:05:04] points, interest rates in the United States should be 1% [00:05:07] or lower. He said, "Quickly lower interest rates [00:05:11] for the United States." Does he want the Fed to listen [00:05:14] to him? For example, there, institutions do not [00:05:18] work at the word of the president. Daron [00:05:21] Acemoglu put forward a literature [00:05:24] on this sentence and received the Nobel Prize in Economics. [00:05:28] That is, Daron Acemoglu's book [00:05:32] "Why Nations Fail" and all the theses he put [00:05:35] forward afterwards were about the system remaining [00:05:39] standing if institutions remained standing. And in its introduction, [00:05:42] he explains the system starting from the difference between the city [00:05:46] on the Mexican border and the city in America. [00:05:49] Now, what have we done to institutions? What about the Court of Accounts [00:05:53] with taxes and interest? There used to be a board [00:05:56] called the Prime Ministry Inspection Board. When people heard of a Prime Ministry [00:06:00] inspector, their hands and arms would tremble, wondering what would happen and where it would go. [00:06:03] There were ministry inspections. We have high boards that came [00:06:07] with 2001. Which one's name are we pulling up, which one's name [00:06:10] are we looking for? From the banking [00:06:13] regulation board, from the energy regulation board, [00:06:17] from the competition regulation board, all of these exist in our country. [00:06:20] Public procurement, we are talking about so many tenders. Is there anyone [00:06:23] who mentions the name of the Public Procurement Authority? Where is [00:06:27] it? There is such an institution. Does it work? Does the Competition [00:06:30] Authority work? Should the Competition Authority [00:06:33] deal with wholesalers, or should the courts [00:06:37] deal with them? If the courts were going to deal with them, [00:06:40] why did we establish the Competition Authority? If the high board that regulates [00:06:44] electricity will not deal with the electricity market, but the courts will, [00:06:48] why did we establish that high board? Now, these are things that have [00:06:51] been done and finished. These are topics that the world has stopped [00:06:54] discussing. We are discussing [00:06:56] them in 2026. It's been 4 months, [00:07:00] over 3 months. Can the people eat cheap chicken? [00:07:03] I was going to ask that earlier. In June, a large operation [00:07:07] was carried out against 13 large chicken companies. A trustee [00:07:11] was appointed, and a week later, an audit. [00:07:12] If there is a need for a regulatory [00:07:17] What was the result? Was a result obtained? How can a result be obtained, brother? You can't solve the fundamental [00:07:20] problem. You can't dry up the source. [00:07:23] Pus is coming from the man's leg, a wound is draining from the man's leg, [00:07:27] and you are putting a bandage on it. There is a need [00:07:31] for surgery there, a need for good care. [00:07:34] You are constantly creating hospital wounds in the economy. [00:07:38] How can something like this happen? [00:07:42] system here, there are specialized institutions and experts [00:07:46] for this in the country. There are places where people are employed for this. [00:07:50] They should be looking at this. I can't understand [00:07:53] a country's administration being so court-centric. [00:07:57] The AK Party, look, I can't understand [00:08:01] the AK Party supporting this either. The discussion mechanism [00:08:05] within the AK Party has also stopped. You know, there's a very [00:08:08] famous saying, attributed to Socrates, "Everything [00:08:11] is political." Yes, everything is political. [00:08:15] Marx says everything is class-based, but okay, everything might be class-based, but at the same [00:08:18] time, isn't everything that comes from that class-based [00:08:21] political? Why are we trying to manage the country [00:08:24] through the courts for tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, [00:08:27] chicken wings? You wrote an article about this, right? Why are we [00:08:31] constantly trying to manage the country through the courts? Can a country [00:08:35] be managed through the courts? Let's go then, [00:08:38] let's solve the visa problem in Germany [00:08:41] through the courts. Let's go back, 67,000 [00:08:44] children got zero, 800,000 children [00:08:48] took the university entrance exam. Did the rise in [00:08:51] PISA scores last week happen thanks to the courts? [00:08:55] I mean, we need to get rid of [00:08:58] this court-centric country management. [00:09:02] Can't you lower inflation with a "command-and-control" approach? [00:09:05] Inflation will go down when the command is given. Let me give you another example and conclude [00:09:09] for comparison. 50% [00:09:12] of Iran's budget, this is official data, [00:09:15] is thanks to the oil and natural gas it sells [00:09:19] to China. 50% of the budget, [00:09:22] Iran relies on this in a way. What do you rely on? [00:09:24] Should we search and give you a call? Ms. Gizem, you are staying, right? [00:09:28] Gizem Özcan, yes. Okay, thank you. We have a very short [00:10:09] Actually, we titled today a "perfect [00:10:13] storm" in an economic sense. At least, Borsa Istanbul [00:10:16] halted trading twice. What does this mean? What kind [00:10:20] of morning will we wake up to tomorrow? These are all very important [00:10:23] topics. How will citizens or small investors [00:10:27] be affected by this process? These are all questions [00:10:30] whose answers we are curious about. The Fed [00:10:33] made a 25 basis point increase for the first [00:10:36] time since 2023. What kind of impact will this have globally? [00:10:40] We will be discussing all of it in the last segment, but [00:10:44] before we go to break, it was Mr. Afşin's turn. Please. Let's summarize [00:10:46] what we said in the last segment. If we cannot [00:10:50] ensure that the concepts [00:10:53] related to the economy, and the authorities [00:10:57] related to the economy manage it, and if we fundamentally [00:11:00] interpret these matters through the judiciary and think we can solve them through the judiciary, [00:11:04] forgetting that we live in a free market, open economy state, [00:11:08] then we will make things unmanageable. Therefore, [00:11:12] I would like to underline this: our problem [00:11:15] of deep poverty in the economy, our inflation [00:11:18] problem, currency pressure, Central [00:11:21] Bank policies, and other macro-scale issues, [00:11:29] the last resort should be the judiciary, [00:11:32] because in its own dynamic, [00:11:39] hand theory of classical economics, [00:11:43] the market should regulate these things within [00:11:45] itself without anyone noticing. [00:11:48] If we turn to tomatoes, peppers, [00:11:52] meat, chicken with indictments [00:11:55] and memorandums, we will make this matter [00:11:58] even more unmanageable. We are already seeing the results in front of us. [00:12:02] The marginalization of institutions, [00:12:05] rendering institutions unimportant, making them dysfunctional, [00:12:08] and along with these, people moving away [00:12:12] from an environment of trust, being pushed into the informal [00:12:15] economy, are all contributing factors that trigger [00:12:19] each other. You cannot solve these by lowering [00:12:22] or raising interest rates, or with tax policies alone. [00:12:26] First, you need to provide confidence to the market, convince people [00:12:30] that these will be solved, and you, starting with [00:12:33] public savings, need to show that you are making [00:12:37] sacrifices, that for this nation, you are the first [00:12:40] to be in trouble and that you are working [00:12:43] under the most difficult conditions. But if you [00:12:47] give any minister, any manager, the latest [00:12:50] model official cars, bodyguards, etc., [00:12:53] very high-income board memberships, [00:12:57] you will turn the system upside down by giving [00:13:00] these away. This business starts with public savings. [00:13:03] Without the public saving, without the public showing it, [00:13:07] you cannot expect savings from the people. You cannot correct [00:13:10] this system without designing [00:13:13] and regulating public institutions, and you cannot [00:13:16] solve these issues through the judiciary. [00:13:20] Uh, I think he has something to say. Oh, you [00:13:24] today... "I thought you would speak, [00:13:27] but okay then, Professor Bülent [00:13:30] isn't here either, let's continue. Now, this circuit breaker story... From [00:13:34] that topic, before that topic, a very small, [00:13:37] uh, let's not say misunderstanding, a difference, a small annotation. [00:13:41] What is said is important, of course, but the thesis [00:13:43] that everything will be regulated by the market if you leave [00:13:47] everything to the market can also bring [00:13:51] a big mistake. You "Today, you left it to the market, and the market [00:13:55] says, 'My production cost is this,' and 'I can only [00:13:59] give this much.' There are companies that confront farmers, [00:14:02] and [00:14:05] at the end of the day, we are discussing, 'Oh, but it can't be like this,' and 'These [00:14:09] are exploiting the farmers.' This is another quarrel. [00:14:12] When you refer the matter to the judiciary, [00:14:15] I completely agree that there is no solution. [00:14:18] That is, 'Oh, you are exploiting the farmer here,' [00:14:22] and 'The intermediaries are making a lot of money.' [00:14:27] You can't beat them with law, it makes the problem bigger. Up to this point, I absolutely agree. [00:14:31] But if you don't beat them with law, [00:14:34] what you'll do is leave farmers and companies face to face, [00:14:37] and that doesn't yield favorable results either. No, but [00:14:41] there's the Ministry of Trade, and the Competition Authority. Let [00:14:45] them intervene. Let them not allow cartels. [00:14:48] Let them not allow the imposition of prices on farmers, [00:14:51] common price setting. For example, chicken producers gathering [00:15:02] Look, those mechanisms exist, but [00:15:05] when the mechanisms hold companies, if you don't have [00:15:09] an agricultural policy, at the end of the day, they can come [00:15:12] out without any tricks and say, "This is the price [00:15:16] under today's market conditions." But [00:15:18] if there were an agricultural policy, if there were a plan [00:15:22] for how to support it, how to produce cheap and healthy food, [00:15:25] if transportation channels [00:15:27] could be established, it would be a different result. [00:15:31] But if you leave it to single hands, at the end of the day, [00:15:34] in a big global world, in a ruthless [00:15:37] and even in the most regulated Western capitalism, [00:15:41] you eventually go towards this: secretly using migrant [00:15:44] labor. Just ban it, it doesn't work [00:15:48] like that. In politics, the one who has a say [00:15:51] is still a capital group. When institutions function and don't [00:15:55] see fraud on paper, there's no chance of intervention. That's [00:15:58] why we insistently need to discuss something else: [00:16:02] that only a return to real policies will save us. [00:16:06] This was something the opposition frequently did in the 2023 elections. [00:16:09] When Mehmet Şimşek said "I will return," the government [00:16:13] looked right. "Okay, the real one has come, he will do it for you, you are not needed." [00:16:17] The six-party table prepared a program saying "we will return to real [00:16:20] politics." Then the government said, "Oh, no need, [00:16:24] the opposition will bring Mehmet Şimşek, I will implement the real [00:16:27] policy better than him," and the economists at that table applauded [00:16:31] the first 6 months. But Mehmet Şimşek is [00:16:34] coming. [00:16:40] And, that is, he returned to structural interest, [00:16:43] only interest. That is, when he took it from 8.5, it was already [00:16:46] from the economy of "what's happening to us," we were already on the verge [00:16:50] of no return from the economy. Yes, that's [00:16:57] he said that a rule-based, [00:17:01] transparent, rational management would be returned to, meaning predictable and transparent. [00:17:05] Now, have we returned to rule-based management? Is it happening [00:17:09] as written in the book, in the law, in the constitution? [00:17:12] This is one. If not, will there be predictability? This is two. Now, without [00:17:16] these, they were just saying that they would make structural [00:17:19] reforms only with interest. What structural reforms were made? [00:17:23] But I apologize to Mehmet Şimşek, maybe you would like to continue from here. [00:17:26] I remember Mehmet Bey said in a television program, I think it was NTV [00:17:30] this time, that they started making structural reforms [00:17:33] and would continue to do so. Are these structural reforms? [00:17:39] And the friend didn't ask, [00:17:41] "Okay, which one, for example?" He didn't say that. [00:17:45] I mean, if it were me, I would have said, "I don't know, blame my ignorance." [00:17:49] For example, what was done? Was the Central Bank's autonomy returned? What happened? [00:17:52] That is, now, if you look at the things [00:17:55] that are being tried to be done under the name [00:17:59] of reform, we will bring in a flexible [00:18:02] working model, meaning we will use cheaper labor more flexibly. [00:18:06] He said we will transform vocational education for quality education. [00:18:10] It turned into more children being exploited under [00:18:13] the name of vocational education. They wrote the retirement system. [00:18:16] There is a model in their minds where no one will retire [00:18:20] for 3 years. They write this as a reform, [00:18:23] what we know as retirement in the grave. I mean, did they just [00:18:27] discover this? They had been writing it for 3 years, [00:18:31] except for this last thing. There is no new regulation regarding [00:18:34] retirement. When they say "reform," [00:18:37] "they actually mean something that will make [00:18:41] the situation even more difficult for workers, not a radical [00:18:44] reform. But they say [00:18:48] "reform" for this: "We will bring industry to Anatolia." [00:18:52] Now, is it really bringing it? If you go to the Ministry of Industry's [00:18:55] website, you will see many organized industrial [00:18:59] zones. But at the end of the day, you don't [00:19:02] see a development story in that region. So, [00:19:05] they can say, "I'm doing reform, I'm taking industry [00:19:08] to Anatolia," but it's not enough. What I mean [00:19:12] is not just leaving it to the law and the market, but to create [00:19:15] a regulatory and balancing [00:19:18] force. To write a program for this, [00:19:21] to lead its policy, is a role of the opposition. [00:19:25] Institutions, these are what you said, master, regulatory and supervisory [00:19:28] institutions. If we go to the stock market, the circuit [00:19:32] breaker issue, I mean, what kind of morning will we wake up to tomorrow? [00:19:35] This is a concern for many small investors. It's a [00:19:38] very, very important [00:19:41] issue right now. That is, there are 3.5 million people [00:19:45] in this country who have money in these funds, around 100,000 [00:19:49] liras, around 100,000 liras. [00:19:52] People who say they have investments of around 100,000 [00:19:55] liras have directed their money to these funds, especially through banks. Why [00:19:59] is this happening? Banks say, "Unfortunately, [00:20:03] we can't preserve the value of money in foreign currency, [00:20:07] gold is no longer gaining value, [00:20:10] what should we do? Let's buy funds on your behalf." [00:20:13] With the guidance of banks, impoverished people with [00:20:16] a little money turned to these funds through banks so that [00:20:20] their money wouldn't lose value. And today, millions [00:20:24] of people are truly worried, wondering what is happening. [00:20:27] So, what's happening? Well, let's [00:20:30] start from here. Exactly [00:20:33] what you would expect from the stock market [00:20:36] of a country where there are corruption, [00:20:40] seizure of assets, and political favoritism [00:20:43] is what we have. Now, what does this mean? I mean, in a country [00:20:46] where we wake up to news [00:20:49] about corruption and gang activity every [00:20:51] day, what does it mean that the stock market is like this? [00:20:55] In the stock market, it seems very regulated [00:20:57] to us. There is the supervision of the Capital [00:21:00] Markets Board. If funds are taken through banks, [00:21:04] there is the supervision of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency. [00:21:07] How can this happen? People might think that this [00:21:11] area should not be discussed in terms of gang activity [00:21:14] or asset seizure, but it didn't happen that way. [00:21:18] On the contrary... "This is what happened: [00:21:22] Before our eyes for months now, [00:21:25] this has been happening: companies like [00:21:28] Katılım Evim form a fund [00:21:31] under a company umbrella and tell [00:21:35] citizens, "Come and buy my fund." The [00:21:38] citizen, with their small investment, goes and buys a share [00:21:41] from there. These shares are traded on the stock market. But [00:21:45] we see that suddenly, [00:21:48] Katılım Evim has become a huge, giant [00:21:52] company worth 8 billion liras. Now, is this possible? [00:21:55] When a lawyer, even a female [00:21:59] judge, was placed in the management of the Capital Markets Board [00:22:02] and it was said that there was work for her, [00:22:05] it was said that there would be legal support and a much more solid [00:22:09] audit. In that very place, there is a huge [00:22:12] gain in value. It surpasses banks. [00:22:15] It's richer than Ford, which has been around for years, [00:22:19] the largest representative of Turkey's largest metal sector. [00:22:22] It's a Katılım Evim that's richer than Sabancı's companies. [00:22:26] Can its value really be this much? [00:22:29] No one asks. Everyone wants to believe [00:22:32] that the pot gave birth, like Nasreddin Hodja's story, [00:22:36] because the person who wants their small [00:22:40] amount of money to gain value sees no harm in this sweet money [00:22:43] flow. But they don't believe it died. That's true, but [00:22:46] when it comes to dying, that's where the big problem [00:22:51] comes in. "Does the pot die?" everyone really 8 billion in value? [00:22:55] No. Well, it was on paper, you might think. Now, [00:22:59] viewers are asking, "If you say it wasn't there, does it mean it wasn't there?" [00:23:03] Bülent might be saying from the screen, "It was on paper," but how [00:23:05] was it there? Katılım Evim is under the umbrella [00:23:09] of a company. That company goes and buys the [00:23:13] shares of the fund it created, it buys the shares [00:23:16] of its own institution. Uh, I have [00:23:20] a family. I go to my child and say, [00:23:23] "Take this money for your expenses, take these shares." I set up a system [00:23:27] within the house and keep circulating it, [00:23:31] and it constantly looks like there's investment [00:23:35] there, but there is no investment. The same holding [00:23:39] and its subsidiary holding, whose executives are now being prosecuted [00:23:42] and detained, that holding that Katılım Evim is part of, [00:23:46] buys its shares. Shares constantly gain value, [00:23:49] you see, but the buyer is the same person. Well, what does the same company do when it buys? [00:23:53] A question might come up. This is what it does: when it borrows, [00:23:57] it pledges this stock. The same money keeps turning [00:24:00] over two or three times. Yes, constantly churning [00:24:04] with no real value. And it's being churned. [00:24:07] Eventually, when this reaches [00:24:09] its peak, [00:24:12] the big players, quietly and deeply, don't say "we grew up" or anything. [00:24:15] Around 30% of the stock market determines the market in the end. [00:24:20] He said that this much fraud in the stock market must end. [00:24:23] Just like allowing companies to launder black [00:24:26] money, cryptocurrencies, [00:24:30] the bubble eventually burst somewhere, it had to burst. [00:24:33] A decision was made that this would stop. Now, [00:24:37] free funds will not be able to buy company shares [00:24:40] as they wish. A limit was imposed. [00:24:42] It buys its own company's shares continuously. [00:24:46] This is fraud, and they stopped [00:24:50] it. When it was stopped, [00:24:53] this happened: money fleeing from funds. [00:24:56] This time, when people [00:24:59] applied to withdraw their money, [00:25:03] because the money was constantly being churned, if it was 100 lira, [00:25:06] 300 lira is seen, now there is a demand for 300 lira, but there is [00:25:09] no such money available, so what was heard in the morning as a circuit breaker [00:25:13] and such, actually seems like a very technical [00:25:16] issue, but the issue is this for everyone. [00:25:20] Don't rush to get [00:25:22] your money, let the stock market not crash completely, [00:25:25] because which company inflated which stock [00:25:28] and how much it pledged, what should the small investor do? The small investor naturally [00:25:32] wants it, but today, [00:25:36] many companies that sell stocks through stock funds [00:25:39] announced this: [00:25:42] "I will announce a price once a month. When you apply to me based on that price, [00:25:46] I will buy your stock one month or 15 days later." [00:25:53] "Okay, you bought it, but can you get it when I say 'hello'?" I'm saying [00:25:57] you can't get it. Today [00:26:00] I'm announcing that I want my money back now. [00:26:02] My stock buyers [00:26:05] can buy it 15 days after the price I announced. [00:26:09] Some also spread that they can buy it one month [00:26:13] later, because it's [00:26:16] not a sum of money that can be paid to all shareholders [00:26:20] simultaneously in today's cash crunch. [00:26:23] They take cash when buying, but give it in installments when selling. [00:26:26] This is the situation right now. So, will many people be able to buy? [00:26:30] What will happen? There is no guarantee for these things. It can be asked. [00:26:34] After all, it's not an infinite [00:26:36] horse farm. Of course, there is SPK assurance, [00:26:40] there are parts behind it that are guaranteed, but it also guarantees [00:26:44] that you can buy your stock. Your stock lost value, [00:26:47] it dropped from 10 liras to 2 liras, you can take that 2 liras. "Even if it's low, [00:26:51] I'll still take my money." I can say that. [00:26:54] So, my mind doesn't really [00:26:57] work on these issues, so it's hard to understand. [00:27:01] Your money is saved. [00:27:05] As far as I understand, your money [00:27:08] doesn't remain, meaning you get it in the end. [00:27:12] But if you lost money, [00:27:14] are you buying a bird or a chicken? What did you give, what did you [00:27:18] get? There's that saying, "I've given up on my profit, just don't steal a stone [00:27:22] from my grave." So, I've even given up on my profit, let me just save the principal, [00:27:25] but that's not guaranteed either. It's like, "Did I live with Dougan [00:27:29] that I'm with Bet Dougan?" Something like that. Truck slogans. [00:27:32] Of course, at this hour, [00:27:35] we can come to this coffee shop. The real big [00:27:38] risk is a chain reaction. We don't [00:27:42] know which companies are at risk of bankruptcy. [00:27:45] Many publicly traded [00:27:48] companies in the money markets are at risk. This means [00:27:52] that the money of millions [00:27:55] of people who applied to these [00:27:59] institutions to buy a house [00:28:02] or a car is not yet fully clear. For those with shares, [00:28:06] they may lose value and buy, but there are also [00:28:09] parts of these jobs that are not guaranteed. [00:28:11] In the morning, the economic council will convene [00:28:15] and try to set a direction. Yes, Mr. Şimşek has gathered his economic team. [00:28:19] Now, a 25 basis point increase, the first Fed [00:28:22] rate hike decision after 2023, [00:28:26] raised it to the 375-4 range. What kind of [00:28:29] global impact will this have? I will ask Mr. Bülent [00:28:33] about this shortly, but our fight against inflation [00:28:36] is not, as we said, a process that started this year or with Mr. Şimşek's second [00:28:40] term. In fact, the fight against [00:28:43] inflation has been going on for many [00:28:46] years. We constantly see updated medium-term [00:28:50] programs and targets. Sometimes Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan [00:28:53] explains, sometimes Cevdet Yılmaz explains, sometimes Mehmet Şimşek [00:28:56] explains, but the President has been explaining for a very long time. [00:29:00] Let's watch the President's predictions about inflation falling [00:29:04] to single digits, which began in which [00:29:07] years. [00:29:15] We will reach the single-digit [00:29:17] inflation rate. God willing, inflation [00:29:21] will drop to single digits in 2020. [00:29:24] We will swiftly bring inflation to [00:29:27] single digits. We are determined to lower inflation [00:29:31] to single digits. We will definitely [00:29:34] bring the problem down to single digits [00:29:38] as in the past. We will again bring [00:29:42] inflation down to single-digit [00:29:46] inflation rates. He will bring [00:29:49] inflation down to single digits. [00:29:53] We first started hearing a prediction from the President [00:29:56] in 2019 about single-digit inflation in 2020, [00:29:59] but it didn't happen, it's not happening, and it doesn't seem like it will happen, at least [00:30:03] in the short and medium term. Now, what I want to understand [00:30:07] is this: I will come to Gizem hanım, but first, let me go with Akif Beki on this. [00:30:10] Let's say, as we said, we talked for the first [00:30:14] two hours. An early snap election or an election [00:30:17] on time will happen at some point. Given this situation, [00:30:20] what economic program do you think Mr. Şimşek [00:30:24] will implement? He says, "I have never [00:30:27] crushed my civil servants and pensioners with inflation, and I will not do so again." [00:30:30] What will save civil servants and pensioners They say they will not [00:30:34] implement and will not compromise on the fight against inflation, [00:30:38] even if there is an election. Okay, it's written in the medium-term program, [00:30:41] "Aren't you reading it?" he says, and then scolds them, gives them a telling-off. [00:30:45] But which medium-term program has ever succeeded [00:30:48] for this one to succeed? I mean, people read it, [00:30:52] but how can they believe and trust that it will be adhered [00:30:55] to? Are we in such a country where the government can say, [00:30:58] "There is a program, but I'm not implementing it"? [00:31:01] Of course, I am fighting inflation, I cannot [00:31:05] distribute election bribes. I mean, what can we do? [00:31:08] Pensioners were waiting for the ballot box for me to make them happy. [00:31:12] Now the ballot box has arrived, but I don't have enough money to make them happy. [00:31:18] If there were a government that would say this, would it have insisted [00:31:22] so much on a Central Bank that listens? [00:31:26] That's the root of everything. The start of this deterioration [00:31:29] in monetary policies. The insistence on a Central Bank [00:31:33] president who listens, the insistence of the management, the insistence that Central Bank [00:31:36] governors should do what the government [00:31:39] and political will say, instead of the monetary policies [00:31:43] they know are right for the economy. [00:31:47] That's what the insistence on a Central Bank that listens means. [00:31:50] Now, if the government [00:31:53] were so keen on doing the right thing, we wouldn't be here today. [00:31:57] In 2018, [00:32:00] when Erdoğan was re-elected in the presidential [00:32:03] government system, he said, "Our nation [00:32:07] has given us all the authority we asked for. [00:32:10] There is no room for excuses anymore. [00:32:13] We have no choice but to succeed." [00:32:16] He said there was no room for excuses or pretexts anymore. [00:32:19] Now we've reached 2026. [00:32:23] From 2018 to now, despite using the powers [00:32:26] requested to fight inflation, we see the failure [00:32:29] to reduce inflation to single digits, [00:32:32] which was the biggest promise of this system. [00:32:36] The report card is evident. The government is facing an election. [00:32:39] Looking at its track record [00:32:42] so far, it doesn't [00:32:45] have a history of going to the polls [00:32:49] without implementing an election [00:32:51] economy, what should we say, it doesn't [00:32:55] have such a practice. Will it do it this time [00:32:59] for the first time? If it does, this will be a first. [00:33:03] For the first time, the AK Party will take voters to the polls [00:33:06] without implementing an election economy, without distributing election bribes, [00:33:10] without opening the purse strings, [00:33:13] without throwing money around. Will it do it? Is this [00:33:16] credible? Who would believe it? [00:33:20] I probably don't need to give an answer; [00:33:23] it's self-evident. It's contrary [00:33:26] to common sense. Looking back, they didn't do it [00:33:29] even in easier times. [00:33:32] When they had more public support, [00:33:36] when they had more public support, [00:33:40] when they scored higher in polls, and when money was relatively [00:33:43] more abundant than today. They didn't say, [00:33:47] "Let me not waste it now, let me not [00:33:50] squander it." But now, there's this: Mr. President, at the point when he understood [00:33:54] or felt he was going to lose, let's say, [00:33:57] the President, who said he wouldn't implement EYT [00:34:00] even if it cost him his government, had to implement EYT. [00:34:04] Bravo. I don't compare anything with the government. [00:34:07] We know Mr. President. We know Mr. President. [00:34:09] So, for a 25 election [00:34:12] without economy. [00:34:23] We have no doubt, no concern, because there are millions who [00:34:26] accept that everything the President says is true at the moment he says it. [00:34:29] How did the President run an election campaign [00:34:33] against Kılıçdaroğlu with Kandil videos and [00:34:36] montage videos? Today, a villa for Öcalan? [00:34:40] A residence? A 250 square meter house? [00:34:43] That's being debated. "AK Party voters say yes to that, and yes [00:34:47] to this. So, there's such an ease in them. This is [00:34:50] the aspect of our politics not unique [00:34:53] to the AK Party. You know, in the past, it was called populist [00:34:56] politics. In the past, during election times, do you remember [00:34:59] the two key promises? Do you remember [00:35:03] the promise of 'whatever they give, I give five times'? [00:35:06] Whatever they give... Now the AK Party [00:35:09] used to say, 'they say it, we do it.' This became true. [00:35:13] Before the 2023 elections, the opposition..." [00:35:20] Then he turned around and started saying, "Because of them, [00:35:23] EYT became such a burden on the budget, now we are paying the price for it." [00:35:27] He blamed the opposition for this too, but he took the credit [00:35:30] and the votes himself. He took the votes for that promise himself. [00:35:34] Giving five times more, that populism has such a cost. [00:35:37] After all, the tea is not from the company, [00:35:40] this tea will ultimately come out of the citizens' pockets, like the government. [00:35:46] For example, in electricity, in energy, there are certain [00:35:49] subsidies. The government provides some [00:35:53] subsidies to alleviate the cost for citizens. [00:35:57] These are also communicated to citizens. Do you remember [00:36:00] the last election in 2023? How much was on electricity [00:36:04] bills? These are our [00:36:07] treats, those messages were sent to let you know [00:36:10] who they were from. But what happened? What happened? [00:36:13] Whose treats were those? [00:36:17] Whose pocket did that come from? [00:36:19] The teas and cakes will be free in the nation's gardens. You'll eat [00:36:23] the cakes and roll around, roll around. [00:36:33] The pain of those, the pain of those sweet dates we ate in the morning, [00:36:37] does it come back to us or not? We are in the evening of that day. That day [00:36:40] we ate those dates in the morning, [00:36:44] this is its evening. Now the pain is coming out. Well, [00:36:48] we are heading towards a new day, [00:36:51] an election is coming again. The countdown to an election dawn has begun. [00:36:54] We are discussing what the government will do this year. [00:36:58] Can it restrain itself from populism? [00:37:01] With your permission, teacher, let's continue. I agree with [00:37:05] the thesis and method that the government will press every [00:37:08] button to seize power. But this time, [00:37:12] for the sake of our viewers, on my behalf, [00:37:16] I find it important to open a small [00:37:20] parenthesis while I'm here. I have an observation when following [00:37:23] the economy. I don't think anyone should expect [00:37:28] such generous distributions as in 2023. [00:37:31] Why? In 2023, [00:37:35] we saw the average pension of 11,000 suddenly [00:37:39] subsidized to over 20,000 liras, we saw a determination [00:37:42] for the lowest pension. Everything [00:37:46] there was, we would find gas for development, [00:37:49] we would fly with warships and so on. So, [00:37:52] from a dream of development to enriching [00:37:55] ourselves through military occupations. "From putting money [00:37:58] in your pocket to seeing better days [00:38:02] in the future, he pressed every button. Please insert a comma, [00:38:05] Gizem, because I said I would go after Akif Bey, [00:38:07] I will come to you before this round ends. For example, bridges [00:38:11] were also discussed, it's such an economic bottleneck that we are not selling [00:38:15] but transferring the operating rights for 30 years. [00:38:18] When asked why you are transferring them, the answer was [00:38:22] that it was for better service, for maintenance and repairs [00:38:25] to be done by those companies. So, it was not [00:38:29] because we were short on money, it was not about cash. [00:38:33] What does it have to do with it? The economy is already booming. Of course, it has nothing to do with it. [00:38:36] It's about maintenance, repair, and renovation being done [00:38:39] more easily and professionally. But this was perhaps [00:38:42] a public opinion poll for now, a pulse check was taken, [00:38:46] Gizem Hanım. But it is rumored [00:38:50] in the backstage that it was postponed [00:38:54] if not given up on for now due to the reactions. [00:38:56] Again before the election. Or after the election, [00:38:59] can bridges, for example, or highways [00:39:02] be a source of financing, [00:39:06] not to say a door, for the government? [00:39:09] Yes, elections [00:39:13] cannot be postponed indefinitely, that ballot box will definitely come [00:39:17] at some point. However, the really important [00:39:19] thing here is with what economic tools [00:39:22] the government will approach these elections. [00:39:26] Now, the cost of the policies they implemented [00:39:29] in previous election periods, such as tax cuts, [00:39:32] wage increases, and credit expansion, [00:39:36] is much higher now. [00:39:39] Therefore, the core [00:39:42] of Minister Şimşek's statement is perhaps that point, that there is [00:39:46] a need for financing as you mentioned, [00:39:49] which is why this direction is being taken today. [00:39:52] However, we have always said this: [00:39:56] "Look, we are, of course, in favor of building bridges, [00:40:00] roads, and bringing services to this country. [00:40:03] But how it is done and with what resources [00:40:07] is important." So, can you use public resources [00:40:10] correctly here? Can it be built at a reasonable [00:40:14] cost? While debating this, they took it up another [00:40:17] notch. So much so that [00:40:21] the privatization of bridges [00:40:23] and highways, and consequently, [00:40:27] the arrival of foreign capital, made it a source [00:40:31] of financing. But, of course, [00:40:34] the government has been employing another method for a long time: [00:40:38] if it's going to implement a transaction, it first debates it publicly. [00:40:42] Believe me, it does the same when passing a law. For example, [00:40:45] a practice developed before a bill even came to parliament, [00:40:49] which shouldn't happen, meaning, [00:40:53] in a way incompatible with the seriousness of the Grand [00:40:55] National Assembly of Turkey. First... That package is somehow [00:40:58] leaked, debated, and depending on the reaction [00:41:02] from society, a tradition has been formed [00:41:05] under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey [00:41:09] whether to bring it or to make a revision to it. [00:41:12] So, look, this is extremely dangerous, [00:41:16] and today, when we look, this economic [00:41:19] system has truly collapsed. That's why, as you explained [00:41:23] earlier, they said, "We will bring it down to single digits, [00:41:27] we will bring it down to single digits." It's like they say, "If you say it 40 times, it will happen," [00:41:31] but that single-digit dream has never come true. [00:41:35] And at the same time, [00:41:38] there was a government shouting, "Give us the authority, [00:41:41] see the impact." That authority [00:41:45] was given. Today, we see its effect [00:41:48] in 2026 as diesel reaching triple-digit figures, [00:41:52] and we have seen it in many other areas, [00:41:56] we are living it. Now, the formation of these economic [00:41:59] policies, providing concrete [00:42:03] answers to economic and social problems, is very valuable. [00:42:06] As the new party, we provide those exact [00:42:10] concrete answers. But today, the government is not able [00:42:13] to formulate these concrete answers, and one of the reasons [00:42:17] is that, beyond the policies at this point, [00:42:20] as mentioned earlier, the institutions and rules [00:42:24] are not functioning. That is the biggest incident that has happened so far. [00:42:28] And of course, the sense of justice [00:42:32] in this sense has truly suffered [00:42:35] a serious erosion. When we say justice, [00:42:39] it's not just justice in court. Of course, justice in court, [00:42:42] but also social justice, justice in the streets, justice [00:42:46] in taxation. Society has a very serious [00:42:49] need for a sense of justice. I mean, it deeply feels it. [00:42:53] So, what is the government doing in this process? Look, the Ministry of Justice [00:42:56] sent a circular to 81 provinces in recent [00:42:59] days, and to public prosecutor's offices. [00:43:02] Now, the Ministry of Justice can send circulars to public prosecutor's [00:43:05] offices in an administrative sense, but it cannot [00:43:09] send them regarding the exercise of judicial authority, because [00:43:13] the ministry is an executive body. When we explain all these things, [00:43:16] when we say them, when we say to apply the functioning [00:43:20] of institutions and rules correctly in this sense, [00:43:23] we are actually trying to explain [00:43:26] the holistic approach in this society. Today, the point [00:43:30] we have reached is also an incident created by the negative [00:43:34] practices applied then and today. Also, as Bülent Bey [00:43:37] explained earlier, why are people [00:43:40] directing towards the stock market? It's so sad that [00:43:43] while listening to that, I thought, for a young [00:43:47] person today, finding a job is a dream in Turkey. Let's say [00:43:51] they somehow found a job, started working. [00:43:54] Investing with the salary they earn, being able [00:43:57] to buy things, is another dream. Look, after achieving [00:44:00] one dream, the other becomes another dream. In the past, [00:44:04] someone who got a job [00:44:06] could get married. After getting married, they could work together [00:44:10] with their spouse and buy a car. They could take a loan and buy a house. [00:44:13] Since none of these are possible anymore, [00:44:16] they are trying to find a solution so that the money [00:44:20] they saved, little by little, doesn't lose [00:44:24] to inflation. Truly, effort is being made to keep [00:44:27] it valuable at some point, and at this point, [00:44:30] there is a need to use various investment tools. [00:44:33] In fact, at the root of the problem, there is another problem. [00:44:37] The problem that comes before us today. [00:44:40] At its root, there is actually another [00:44:43] and deeper social problem. A government [00:44:47] that does not evaluate all these things, [00:44:50] that saves the day, that acts with the logic of "let's get [00:44:54] through an election," will not create any other [00:44:58] environment of peace and prosperity in this country. Also, what was said earlier [00:45:01] about purchasing power, they always say this to us [00:45:05] repeatedly when we come to parliament and there is a debate: [00:45:08] "Well, 20 years ago, 30 years ago, 40 years ago, [00:45:11] this was not available, it could not be found." [00:45:15] There was scarcity back then, meaning that product didn't [00:45:18] exist, there was a supply problem. It's really a problematic thing. [00:45:22] Now everything is available, everything can be accessed, [00:45:26] supply is provided, but there is poverty [00:45:29] in the country, people are deprived. They are deprived of being able [00:45:33] to access things. They have been deprived. It is truly [00:45:36] stuck between these. When we go out to the streets [00:45:39] and talk to citizens... Let me just say this last [00:45:42] thing. They said earlier, "We will make reforms here, [00:45:46] we will do this." oil. These were announced. [00:45:50] Please don't find anything. Everything they find [00:45:53] ends up worse, more expensive for us. This is truly the citizen's [00:45:56] perspective now. But no one [00:46:00] should lose hope. As I said earlier, [00:46:03] we have many resources. Our biggest resource [00:46:06] is our human resources. As long as it is managed with the right [00:46:10] policies, all these problems will definitely be overcome. [00:46:14] As long as it is handed over to reliable [00:46:17] and correct hands. No one should lose hope. Together, [00:46:20] we will build a productive Turkey and a prosperous Turkey. [00:46:24] we'll finish in a few minutes. So I don't [00:46:28] want to keep you waiting in front of the screen anymore. Gizem [00:46:31] Özcan, Deputy Chair of the New Party, [00:46:41] good evening. Good evening, my last few minutes, so it's beneficial to get the final [00:46:45] assessment from an expert. Okay, [00:46:48] if it's a few minutes, let me say this: [00:46:52] Gizem hanım said the cost of distributing money as much as before is high. Absolutely. [00:46:56] They are holding the exchange rates. [00:46:59] As interest rates rise in America, a period [00:47:03] when they will have to release them will come. [00:47:05] Therefore, it's not about distributing a lot of money, [00:47:09] but small incentives, small satisfying [00:47:12] actions. But on a large scale, it's about increasing [00:47:16] operations to disperse and suppress the opposition. [00:47:20] Will we transfer MPs step by step? Will we take the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality? [00:47:31] From the companies' perspective, let me also draw attention [00:47:35] to that: it's a time when it's hard to produce consent with money. We've entered a period where it's already hard [00:47:38] because citizens know they'll lose it immediately. Awareness has also developed [00:47:42] in the citizen. For example, when you, so to speak, [00:47:46] open the purse strings before the election, the citizen [00:47:49] is now aware that there will be a price [00:47:53] after the election, because they know clearly [00:47:56] how inflation is defied. Also, it's not as easy [00:48:00] to satisfy companies as it was yesterday. A new policy has been adopted: [00:48:03] certain sectors are supported and developed, [00:48:07] like the defense industry, but certain [00:48:09] sectors, which should develop with new technological breakthroughs, [00:48:13] suddenly disappear and are tried to be kept alive with small incentives, [00:48:16] for example, leatherworking or textiles, [00:48:20] which are sectors that create a lot of employment. We see [00:48:23] temporary incentives for the long term, [00:48:27] specifically incentivizes certain industrial sectors. [00:48:30] Now, this is not an industrialization move. When you push one side [00:48:34] while collapsing the other, you don't develop. [00:48:37] So, when this side decreases and this side increases, [00:48:41] our tit-for-tat situation continues. Moreover, because you hit sectors that create [00:48:44] more employment, this also results in unemployment. We will [00:48:48] see an increase in the number of people [00:48:50] with temporary jobs [00:48:53] along with high inflation. This is not a situation [00:48:57] that can be satisfied with money. Therefore, there is a government focused [00:49:00] on increasing political violence if we're considering a precaution, an alternative [00:49:04] to this, if we're thinking about a precaution to this, we always come back to the same place, [00:49:07] we started broadcasting at 8 PM like this, where political violence [00:49:11] increases, there's no possibility of the economy improving, this is a [00:49:14] spiral, as resistance increases, the economy worsens, as the economy worsens, [00:49:18] pressure increases, we're going through a strange spiral like this. [00:49:21] Let's not fall into false hope, like money will be given [00:49:24] and people will become ruling party voters again, has a threshold [00:49:28] been crossed? Let's not [00:49:32] seçmeni de çok hafife almayalım ikisini de [00:49:35] aynet ben iktidar iktidar seçime gidecek de artık [00:49:38] çok sıkışık durum Türkiye'de de dünyada da eee kek çay [00:49:42] ikram edecek oy karşılığında parayı [00:49:45] bulamayacak derseniz bana yaptıkları yapacaklarının [00:49:48] teminatı ise o parayı bulur dedim. [00:50:22] He dreams of avoiding the cost there this time, otherwise [00:50:25] he won't do it. It's very easy. [00:50:29] There's money in his policy, the same money is there. One of the ruling party's [00:50:33] methods is to present itself as a safe haven in an uncertain environment. [00:50:36] It used this method in past election periods, [00:50:39] presenting itself as a safe haven in the uncertain environment it created. [00:50:43] Today, the inflationary environment [00:50:46] is felt more than in previous years. [00:50:50] Wage increases in an inflationary environment trigger inflation. [00:50:53] Across-the-board wage increases trigger inflation. [00:50:56] If you want to reduce inflation, you need to save, [00:51:00] not spend money, you need to hold onto your money. [00:51:03] These are the truths that need to be done. [00:51:07] You cannot prevent inflation by giving more money, [00:51:10] because more money means more consumption, [00:51:12] and consumption requires supply. Where there is no supply, [00:51:16] prices generally increase. So, for minimum wage earners [00:51:20] and retirees, people should know that if money comes into your pocket [00:51:23] in a country with 30% inflation, this means that the 30% inflation [00:51:27] will rise even further. Money should not enter your pocket, [00:51:31] and all markets should be controlled [00:51:34] and tightened. For this, fiscal [00:51:38] policy and monetary policy should be controlled today. [00:51:42] You don't have a chance to fight inflation [00:51:45] by increasing the minimum wage from 28,000 liras [00:51:48] to 50,000 liras. This is not possible. [00:51:52] This is against the nature of things. So, if the nas [00:51:56] economy has gone to such a point, you cannot fight inflation [00:51:59] by increasing the minimum wage of 28,000 liras to 50,000, [00:52:02] and increasing the civil servant salary of 80,000 liras to 110,000. [00:52:06] But what is the fault of the citizen? Did the citizen cause inflation? [00:52:09] If money comes into your pocket, he said, "As long as my flag [00:52:12] waves and the adhan doesn't stop, I'm ready [00:52:15] to go hungry." His prayer was answered this much, [00:52:19] but I think this was yesterday's equation. We'll talk [00:52:23] about tomorrow's equation tomorrow. Thank you very much. [00:52:26] To the Halk TV viewers who have not left us alone until this hour, [00:52:30] I thank our dear Avşin Hatipoğlu very much. You did not leave us alone for a moment [00:52:33] during the long broadcast. [00:54:19] viewers. Today we say there's a loss. There's a 6% loss in the stock market. [00:54:22] It circuit-broke today. Loss in the stock market, [00:54:25] loss in our pockets, loss in purchasing power, loss in the warehouse, [00:54:29] loss in the will of the voters, production, [00:54:32] conscience and morality. We say there's a loss [00:54:35] and we begin. [00:54:53] The witnesses did not come. The CHP's 38th [00:54:56] Congress case, the case in which Ekrem İmamoğlu was also tried, [00:54:59] was postponed to October 21st. [00:55:01] ertelendi. [00:55:05] did not come. The CHP's 38th Congress case was postponed to October 21st. [00:55:09] The 7th hearing of the criminal case, [00:55:13] filed on the grounds of irregularities in the CHP's 38th Congress, [00:55:16] which was annulled by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice, was held. 12 people, [00:55:20] including Ekrem İmamoğlu, are being tried [00:55:23] within the scope of the case, and prison sentences of 1 to 3 years [00:55:26] are sought for them. In the case heard [00:55:30] at the Ankara 26th High Criminal Court, the decision stage has not yet been reached. [00:55:34] In order for the prosecutor to announce his opinion, [00:55:37] missing issues in the congress criminal case must be resolved, and witness [00:55:41] statements must be completed. Our party's new [00:55:45] General Chairman has become Mr. Özgür Özel. [00:55:48] In the 7th hearing, the presiding judge stated [00:55:52] that the witnesses planned to be heard did not attend the hearing. [00:55:55] Hüseyin Yaşar's lawyer, İbrahim Karaca, stated [00:55:59] that Çetin Kızılbulut, one of the requested witnesses, resides in Ankara, [00:56:02] and requested that a summons be issued for him. Ekrem İmamoğlu's lawyer, [00:56:05] Çağlar Çağlıyan, requested that the statements of Nezahat Kurt, [00:56:09] who was tried in the IMM case heard in Istanbul, be added to the transcript file. [00:56:12] The presiding judge accepted all these requests from the lawyers. [00:56:16] In the interim decision, it was requested that the hearing [00:56:19] transcript regarding Nezahat Kurt's statement at the Istanbul 33rd [00:56:23] High Criminal Court be added to the file and that the witnesses [00:56:26] be present at the next hearing. And he postponed [00:56:29] the next hearing to October 21st. [00:56:30] bıraktı. [00:56:36] "Democracies rarely perish in an instant, [00:56:39] instead they erode step by step, they are eroded." [00:56:43] Özgür Özel, the new party leader Özgür Özel, [00:56:47] wrote an article for Le Figaro, one of France's most respected newspapers, [00:56:50] and he gave various examples of the situation in Turkey, [00:56:54] political competition, the erosion [00:56:57] of political competition and institutions, [00:57:00] all of these. And he said this: [00:57:03] Turkey has become a very good example [00:57:07] of the increasingly complex and [00:57:10] sophisticated authoritarianism [00:57:13] of the 21st century. he said. [00:57:18] Turkey is an important example of how the increasingly complex [00:57:21] and sophisticated authoritarianism [00:57:25] of the 21st century works. The basic [00:57:28] lesson is simple. Democracies rarely [00:57:32] disappear in an instant, they erode step by step. [00:57:35] He pointed to Turkey as an example of how authoritarianism works. [00:57:39] He said that democracies erode step by step and rarely disappear [00:57:43] in an instant. New party leader Özgür Özel [00:57:46] wrote an article in Le Figaro, one of France's respected newspapers, [00:57:50] titled "Turkey, a striking example of the sophisticated authoritarianism [00:57:53] of the 21st century", in which he argued [00:57:56] that democratic institutions and political competition [00:57:59] are increasingly eroding in Turkey. [00:58:03] Özgür Özel also made an important warning [00:58:07] in his article. He said that democracy in Turkey [00:58:10] has been hollowed out. In the last 20 years, [00:58:13] political power in Turkey has increasingly gathered around President Erdoğan. [00:58:31] The arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu [00:58:35] in March 2025 is one of the most striking examples of this. [00:58:38] Özgür Özel also made an important warning in his article. [00:58:42] He said that democracy in Turkey has been hollowed out. [00:58:45] söyledi. [00:58:55] Turkey is an inseparable part of Europe's democratic history. [00:58:59] The direction followed today is a serious warning about [00:59:02] how democracy can be hollowed out while seemingly remaining intact. [00:59:06] Özel stated that after İmamoğlu's detention, access to some [00:59:09] social media platforms was slowed down, and access to hundreds of accounts belonging [00:59:13] to journalists, students, and politicians was restricted. [00:59:16] hesaba erişime. geli getirildiğini [00:59:18] In his article, Özel reminded [00:59:22] that İmamoğlu's social media account was also blocked, [00:59:25] and said that the use of İmamoğlu's images was prohibited, [00:59:28] his family company was seized, and the book he wrote in prison [00:59:31] was censored. He reminded that more than 30 opposition [00:59:34] mayors have been arrested or removed from office. [00:59:38] Elections are held, courts remain open, [00:59:42] opposition parties continue to exist, [00:59:45] and parliament continues to work. [00:59:48] There is no need for democracy to be imposed on Turkey from the outside. [00:59:51] The people already believe in democracy. Today, the main question [00:59:54] is whether citizens' democratic preferences are still [00:59:58] allowed to be transformed into political power. [01:00:01] izin verilip [01:00:02] İmamoğlu's answer to the question [01:00:06] "Would I have stayed if there was an organization?" As you know, 414 people [01:00:10] are being tried in the IMM case. The second hearing is ongoing. [01:00:13] Businessman Babacan made a defense. [01:00:16] Meanwhile, former IMM Secretary General [01:00:19] Assistant Karakaya also answered Ekrem İmamoğlu's question. [01:00:23] Ekrem İmamoğlu asked Karakaya, "Did you ever hear the word 'organization' [01:00:26] in our meetings?" Karakaya said, "If [01:00:29] I had heard it, would I have stayed [01:00:33] in the meetings?" Businessman İbrahim Halil Babacan, [01:00:37] who was accused of bribery [01:00:41] in the indictment, said there was no bribery. [01:00:44] He also stated that he did not hear [01:00:47] the words "organization" and "system". [01:00:50] The IMM case, in which 414 people, [01:00:54] including IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, are being tried, is ongoing. [01:00:57] Since August 17th, over 190 unarrested individuals [01:01:00] have made their defense. Businessman İbrahim Halil Babacan [01:01:04] is arrested not from the IMM case, but from another file. [01:01:08] It was alleged in the indictment that he was asked for a bribe. [01:01:11] After his defense, Bellikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık [01:01:15] took the floor. He asked, "Did I make any demands [01:01:18] under duress from you during your construction?" [01:01:21] İbrahim Halil Babacan said that Çalık had no such demand. [01:01:24] Thereupon, Çalık asked about the bribery allegation. [01:01:28] İbrahim Halil Babacan also said that there was no bribery. [01:01:32] Former IMM Secretary General Assistant Cemal Ufuk Karakaya [01:01:35] was also one of the names who made a defense. He accepted none of the accusations. [01:01:39] He also denied the allegation of being a member of an organization [01:01:42] and stated that he only took instructions from his superiors. [01:01:45] After Karakaya's defense, Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke. [01:01:49] He asked Karakaya, "Did you hear the terms 'organization' [01:01:52] and 'system' in our meetings?" Karakaya replied, "If [01:01:56] I had heard the terms 'organization' and 'system,' would I have continued [01:01:59] to work here?" The second hearing [01:02:03] of the IMM case is expected to continue until the end of September. [01:02:06] Unarrested individuals will make their defense. [01:02:10] Ekrem İmamoğlu, who could not make his defense in the first hearing, [01:02:13] is also expected to be heard in this hearing. [01:02:18] In Izmir, which is seen as the main opposition's stronghold, [01:02:21] the first defection is seen as Foça. The issue in Foça [01:02:25] is that the AKP did not even nominate a candidate. [01:02:29] because [01:02:36] they say this is literally usurping our votes. [01:02:41] they take the megaphone They go to the market, [01:02:46] etmektir diyorlar, pazar yerine [01:02:50] and they shout, "Give us back our vote, [01:02:54] Saniye." [01:02:55] they say. [01:03:00] "Saniye Bora Fıçı, who was one of the mayors who joined the AKP, [01:03:04] the public in her district rose up, even her own brother reacted. [01:03:07] The reactions to Foça Mayor Saniye Bora Fıçı do not stop. [01:03:11] The people of Foça also raised their voices in the marketplace. [01:03:14] They called for the rally they will hold on Saturday. [01:03:18] The day will come [01:03:21] when she will account to history, [01:03:24] to the people." [01:03:27] She was elected Foça mayor from the CHP [01:03:30] with 49.6% of the votes. On September 10th, [01:03:33] she changed sides and joined the AKP. President Erdoğan [01:03:37] pinned her badge. There was a great reaction [01:03:40] from the people of Foça to Fıçı. Even her brother, former Gerenköy [01:03:44] Mayor Orhan Bora, said, "I will never forgive her throughout my life." [01:03:48] The reactions to Saniye Bora Fıçı do not stop. The members [01:03:51] of the Foça "I Stand by My Democratic Will" initiative went to the Tuesday market. [01:03:54] They called for Fıçı's resignation with a megaphone. [01:03:58] Slogans like "Give back my vote, Saniye" [01:04:01] were chanted. "We forgive everything, [01:04:04] but we will never forgive those who betray us. [01:04:08] Wherever we see her, we will show her our reaction [01:04:12] when we see Saniye Fıçı. We will not forget Saniye Fıçı, [01:04:15] who joined the AKP by taking the votes [01:04:18] of the people, by taking the votes of the CHP in Foça. [01:04:21] We will hold her accountable for this betrayal." The members, who said [01:04:25] that thousands of Foça residents' votes were usurped, announced [01:04:29] that an "I Stand by My Will" rally would be held [01:04:32] in Nihat Dirim Square in Foça on the evening of Saturday, September 19th. [01:04:36] Meanwhile, while the reaction [01:04:39] of the people of Foça continued, the new AKP member Saniye Bora Fıçı [01:04:43] continued to accept visits. Fıçı received AKP [01:04:46] Izmir Deputy Ceyda Bölünmez Çankırı and AKP Menemen Mayor [01:04:50] Aydın Pehlivan and Council members [01:04:53] in her office. [01:04:56] You don't have the courage to set up ballot boxes. [01:05:00] The new Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik [01:05:03] criticizes the government with these words. [01:05:07] He looks at the examples of Üsküdar and Bayrampaşa. [01:05:10] He asks, "Why don't the prosecutors get involved?" [01:05:13] There isn't even a single prosecutor [01:05:15] who has taken action. [01:05:18] Özgür Çelik says that the elected mayor [01:05:22] of Üsküdar and Bayrampaşa Hasan Mutlu has been arrested [01:05:25] since September 16, 2025. "If you are very ambitious, [01:05:28] if you are very confident in yourselves, [01:05:31] if you are very confident in your claims, [01:05:35] Hasan Mutlu is in Silivri, you nominate a candidate from here. [01:05:38] Are you willing to set up a ballot box to compete with Hasan Mutlu [01:05:41] while he is in Silivri? No, you don't have the courage. [01:05:44] Let them remove not 34, but if they want, [01:05:47] 134 of them. There is only one thing [01:05:50] that does not change: the nation is on its way [01:05:52] with the new party led by Özgür Özel." [01:05:55] So what will happen [01:05:59] to these Bayrampaşa elections? [01:06:06] Come on, then, cancel the Bayrampaşa elections. [01:06:09] Come on, then, cancel the Üsküdar elections. [01:06:12] This is one of the most concrete examples of the point that Turkey's legal [01:06:16] system has reached. Bayrampaşa is one of them. [01:06:19] Also, I sent the Bayrampaşa issue [01:06:22] within the statement I gave. There isn't even a single prosecutor [01:06:25] who has taken action. They opened the district building [01:06:28] in Bayrampaşa. At the opening, Hasan Mutlu was greeted with applause. [01:06:32] We would like to applaud our esteemed mayor [01:06:36] strongly once again from here. [01:06:39] 10 years have passed without him, [01:06:43] without Tarık Akan. From Ataol Behramoğlu's pen, [01:06:46] if they asked me to liken him to something, I would say [01:06:50] he was no different from a volcano. [01:06:53] Calm, serene, silent on the outside, [01:06:55] brimming with fire on the inside. [01:06:58] That fire was his love for his homeland, [01:07:02] for children, for love, for freedom, [01:07:05] and a raging fire in front of barbed wire fences. [01:07:08] The unforgettable character of Yeşilçam's Damat Ferit, [01:07:12] Yalancı Yarim, Mavi Boncuk, Feryat, Ya Babam Sınıfı, [01:07:15] of course, when we say unforgettable character, [01:07:18] we need to talk about his character, his personality, [01:07:21] his upright stance. We miss Tarık Akan. [01:07:25] özlüyoruz. [01:07:42] We will buy a car, may your mind live a thousand years. [01:07:46] The Hababam Class is buying a car. Is there anything beyond that? [01:07:50] Where, where, I forgot my heart, [01:07:53] oh, where, oh, where [01:07:54] could I find it? [01:08:00] Yüksel Adıbelli says we are experiencing lost years in education, [01:08:03] justice, health, cost of living, and democracy. [01:08:06] Doğan Kubilay Turan says the future that the blue-eyed [01:08:10] blonde giant dreamed for us is lost. [01:08:13] Yaşar Arslanpay says what is lost is trust, courage, [01:08:16] facts, and from Che Guevara, [01:08:19] he said, "If you cannot say that what is wrong is wrong, [01:08:22] it means you are in the final stage of slavery." [01:08:26] Adil Kaya says, "Lost lives." We are concluding this section, [01:08:30] we will be back in a moment. [01:09:15] We continue our program on Halk TV from where we left off. [01:09:18] The new iPhone, or rather, the new model of iPhone [01:09:22] is about to go on sale in Turkey. Pre-sales have started, I guess, [01:09:25] but it's mostly being talked about because of its price, [01:09:29] because it seems like someone working for 9 months with minimum wage [01:09:32] and not touching their salary could only afford the phone. [01:09:35] The average selling price will be 230,000, [01:09:39] but exactly 117,000 of that will be tax. [01:09:42] Özgür Özel reacted to this, saying, "The phone folds, but [01:09:46] the people cannot bear the tax robbery," and criticized [01:09:49] the tax, which is more expensive than the product itself. [01:09:53] pahalı olan vergiyi [01:09:55] 112,000 lira in the cart, [01:09:59] 230,000 at the checkout. A person who wants to buy Apple's [01:10:03] new model phone will pay 118,000 in tax. [01:10:07] New party leader Özgür Özel also reacted to this situation, calling [01:10:10] it "tax robbery". I mean, what can we buy so that there's room for an iPhone? [01:10:14] I mean, we're talking about 230,000 liras, and we'll give this for a phone. [01:10:17] We can't even pay the rents properly. Apple's new model phones [01:10:21] will be released, but their price is more on the agenda [01:10:23] than the phones themselves, because the selling price in Turkey [01:10:27] is jaw-dropping. The foldable iPhone Duo [01:10:30] costs 1999 dollars in the US, [01:10:34] which is approximately 97,000 liras, while the starting price [01:10:37] of the phone in Turkey will be approximately 230,000. [01:10:40] I mean, 230,000 liras is too much. I mean, 16, 15 and so on are normal, [01:10:44] but the Duo is very expensive. We can't buy these [01:10:47] with minimum wage. The biggest reason for the phone being expensive [01:10:51] in Turkey is taxes. If a minimum wage earner [01:10:54] wants to buy the newly released phone, they have to give [01:10:58] approximately 9 months' salary without spending anything. [01:11:01] Someone needs to put a stop to this nonsense, because we're buying one phone for ourselves, [01:11:05] and one phone for the state. The new party leader [01:11:09] shared these visuals on his social media account. He criticized the AKP government [01:11:12] and announced it by saying "akp'den.net". [01:11:14] duyurdu. [01:11:17] The phone, which costs 112,735 liras [01:11:20] when added to the basket, increases to 230,000 liras [01:11:23] with 117,000 liras in taxes, including the Ministry of Culture share, [01:11:27] TRT Bandrol fee, special consumption tax, and value-added tax. [01:11:31] Özel reacted to the government [01:11:35] by saying, "This dark order invented a tax more expensive [01:11:38] than the product itself. The phone folds, but the people can't bear this tax robbery." [01:11:42] diyerek iktidara tepki [01:11:44] This morning, to be honest, [01:11:51] I was eagerly awaiting a broadcast where Minister of Treasury [01:11:54] and Finance Mehmet Şimşek spoke on Habertürk. [01:11:58] He made statements, from the Medium-Term Program [01:12:01] to the Escalator system, he clarified many issues [01:12:05] in his own way. We will discuss whether he could clarify them in a moment, [01:12:08] but this time, Mehmet Şimşek is responsible [01:12:12] for inflation. According to him, there was a war. Another important statement [01:12:16] he made was, "We have given public employees and retirees [01:12:19] at least as much increase as inflation, and we will continue to do so." [01:12:22] Now, when he says, "We have given at least as much increase as inflation," [01:12:26] of course, it also reminds one of the increases given based on the target inflation [01:12:30] starting in 2026. For example, [01:12:33] food inflation was 72% in 2023. [01:12:36] It was around 72%. Today it has fallen to around 134. [01:12:39] So, where, for example, you mentioned rent. Rent inflation in 2023 [01:12:43] was 109%. Today it has fallen to around 43%. [01:12:47] So, when you look at these figures, there is a significant slowdown [01:12:50] in inflation. Of course, our targets [01:12:54] were much more ambitious at the beginning, but [01:12:56] this new inflation [01:12:58] period, that is, 2023 and [01:13:02] before, it's clear that there's a serious [01:13:05] ossification there, a inertia, [01:13:08] actually, there's a serious slowdown [01:13:11] in the rate of inflation. This actually shows [01:13:15] that the program is yielding results. The inflation target [01:13:18] this year, of course, is partly affected by the war, [01:13:20] but it's clear that in Turkey, there's more inertia, [01:13:24] more rigidity, more stickiness than we predicted [01:13:28] or than the model predicted, let me put it that way. [01:13:31] Now, this is a problem, so more time is needed. [01:13:35] If there hadn't been a war this year, [01:13:38] very simply, our Central Bank has a study [01:13:42] that takes into account the direct and indirect effects [01:13:46] to date. Inflation would be at least 7 [01:13:49] points lower as of today. That is, instead of 31.5, [01:13:53] for example, it would be 24.5. We would have closed [01:13:56] the year perhaps in the 21-22 [01:14:00] range instead of the 28-29 range. [01:14:03] There is nothing more valuable and important than protecting [01:14:06] the purchasing power of the salaried segment by [01:14:10] at least the inflation rate. We have no hesitation here. [01:14:13] So, at the end of the year, for example, this will be taken into account [01:14:17] in wage discussions. We have always [01:14:20] given our civil servants, retirees, [01:14:23] and public employees an increase of at least the inflation rate, [01:14:27] and we will continue to do so. [01:14:30] I'm really curious if you're listening with as much [01:14:34] astonishment as we are. Now, we'll talk about Mehmet Şimşek's [01:14:37] statements, but at the same time, the crisis seems to be deepening [01:14:40] at Pusula Holding's affiliated companies. There are significant losses [01:14:44] on Borsa Istanbul. There has been a decline for three [01:14:47] consecutive days, and currently [01:14:52] losses have exceeded 6%, and Borsa Istanbul [01:14:56] has circuit-broken. I want to start with this. [01:14:59] I have a guest, economist Associate Professor Oğuz Demir. [01:15:02] Welcome. Good to see you. [01:15:06] Good broadcast, Gizem Hanım. Thank you. [01:15:10] Now, I want to start with Borsa Istanbul, because it's a hot development. [01:15:13] We were already talking about 5% losses in the morning. [01:15:16] It exceeded 6%, and the circuit-breaker was triggered. [01:15:19] Investors are worried. They're asking why there's [01:15:23] this decline in the stock market. Let me get your initial comment. [01:15:26] Well, Gizem Hanım, [01:15:30] there are a lot of specific examples, like Pusula's statements, [01:15:33] a capital outflow from funds, problems with liquidity from this outflow. [01:15:37] We can explain all of these carefully on that specific day [01:15:39] or over the last 3 days. After all, a stock exchange [01:15:43] is a place where many people openly trade. [01:15:47] But essentially, we are facing another indicator [01:15:50] of the country's current situation. That is, control, [01:15:54] law, seeking justice. All of these things, [01:15:57] the disarray, the ability of the powerful [01:16:00] or those with connections to find opportunities as they wish. [01:16:04] When all these things accumulate, it explodes from here today. [01:16:07] Another day, it will explode for another reason. This is unfortunately [01:16:10] what we are dealing with. [01:16:13] bozukluk eee işte güçlü olanın ya da [01:16:17] adamını bulanın istediği gibi alan bulabilmesi bütün bunlar [01:16:21] üst üste geldiğinde yani bugün buradan patlıyor. [01:16:25] başka bir gün başka bir nedenle patlar yani bu bu artık bizim [01:16:28] results of the spirit of the past period. [01:16:31] So now, for example, what are we talking about? A portfolio investment company. [01:16:35] The funds of this investment company. The investments in these funds. [01:16:38] Regarding these, there were losses. After that, people [01:16:42] went to withdraw these funds. An important statement was made there [01:16:45] a few days ago. More than 100 billion lira, more than 120 billion lira, [01:16:49] was requested to be withdrawn. Some people had trouble meeting this demand, it was said. [01:16:53] So the claim is in this direction. [01:16:55] Consequently, the investor's morale was broken, and he says, "Should I [01:16:59] withdraw?" When he says, "Should I withdraw?", sales come. When sales come, it experienced [01:17:02] a value loss of close to 6%. But we shouldn't forget what I said at the beginning. [01:17:06] That is, the negative impact created by all these events is much greater [01:17:10] than the 6% drop in the stock market today. Gizem Hanım, trust is a feeling [01:17:12] that is very hard to earn but very easy to lose. [01:17:16] And the market, as you said, operates entirely on trust. [01:17:19] And the responsibility to ensure this trust lies with the relevant institutions, [01:17:23] primarily the CMB. It's a process. That's why, while all these developments [01:17:26] are taking place, it's important for the Capital Markets Board to have taken [01:17:30] the necessary precautions from the very beginning, [01:17:33] to have conducted inspections. Yes, it happened today. Such a thing [01:17:35] happens from time to time in other parts of the world, albeit rarely. But we have been constantly [01:17:39] talking about certain things related to the stock market for the last 4-5 years. Operations. [01:17:43] We are talking about them. In the morning, if I'm not mistaken, about a year ago, [01:17:47] they detained some people who were trading in the stock market on suspicion of manipulation, remember? [01:17:51] Therefore, if you don't control these areas carefully, [01:17:55] if you haven't continuously followed these areas with regulation, [01:17:58] that trust, you know, will be gone one day, never to return. [01:18:01] That's why, in the period we are going through, [01:18:05] bir şekilde kontrol etmeyen... eee etmediyseniz, buralara eee [01:18:09] sürekli bir regülasyonla takip etmediyseniz, o güven bir [01:18:13] bakmışsanız bir gün geri gelmemek üzere gider, o [01:18:16] yüzden yani içinden geçtiğimiz dönemde hemen [01:18:20] hemen her alanda yaşanan sıkıntıların [01:18:23] aslında bir eee göstergesini de şu anda borsada [01:18:26] yaşıyoruz, peki güven demişken eee Oğuz Demir [01:18:29] şunu sormak istiyorum, şimdi biraz hatta [01:18:32] detaylandıralım, çünkü bu işte pusula tera [01:18:35] grubu hani aldım dedi ama... sonra bir açıklama yaptı, hani nakde [01:18:39] çıkmak isteyenler bunu alamayınca, devir işlemleri [01:18:42] henüz hukuken fiilen tamamlanmadı dedi, şirket fonlarda [01:18:45] yaşanan sorunlarla ilgili sorumlu biz değiliz dedi [01:18:48] Tera, yani aslında biraz şunu mu demek istedi, şimdi [01:18:52] temerrüde düşme durumu da var, hani para yok, işte ödemeyi [01:18:56] yapamıyoruz, ama bir diğer yandan da pazar günü kendileri yine bir [01:18:59] açıklama yapmışlardı, eee yatırımcıya sakin olun, biz [01:19:03] buradayız demişti, şimdi hani bu üç gün içerisinde ne oldu [01:19:07] o olay buraya döndü, [01:19:10] bence yani daha en başta bu sürece girişlerinin yanlış [01:19:13] olduğunu şimdi görüyorlar, yani eee biraz orada [01:19:17] tabii bunun arka planında nasıl bir ilişki ağı var bunu bilmiyoruz gizam [01:19:21] hanım hani birisi var mı birileri gidin siz bu firmayı kurtarın bu [01:19:25] firmanın eee batmaması gerekir buradaki yatırımcının [01:19:28] we are actually experiencing a symptom of the problems [01:19:31] experienced in almost every area in the stock market right now. [01:19:35] Well, speaking of trust, I would like to ask Oğuz Demir [01:19:38] this. Let's elaborate a little now, because [01:19:42] this compass Tera group, they said they bought it, but then [01:19:46] they made a statement. They said that those who wanted to withdraw cash couldn't get it, and that the transfer [01:19:50] procedures have not yet been completed legally or practically. The company said that they are [01:19:53] not responsible for the problems experienced in the funds. Tera said that. [01:19:56] So, did it mean this, actually? Now, there is also the situation of default. [01:20:00] There is no money, we cannot make the payment. But on the other hand, [01:20:03] they made another statement on Sunday. They told investors to stay calm, [01:20:07] that they are here. Now, what happened in these three days that the situation [01:20:11] turned like this? I think they are now seeing [01:20:13] that their entry into this process was wrong from the very beginning. [01:20:17] That is, we don't know what kind of network of relationships is behind [01:20:21] this, Gizem Hanım. Was there someone, or were there people who told them to go and save [01:20:24] this company, that this company should not go bankrupt, [01:20:28] that the investors' money should be saved, etc.? You know, [01:20:32] it is sometimes said that such suggestions are made. But when entering this process, [01:20:35] if such a suggestion was made, the institution that received it might not [01:20:39] have been aware of what it was up against. Now, it is facing a much greater [01:20:42] need for cash. That's why it is stepping back, seeing that there might [01:20:45] be problems in paying these funds. And also, due to the current decline, [01:20:48] it is experiencing losses, as you know, these portfolios are now [01:20:52] causing additional problems for investors. That's why [01:20:56] what I said earlier is very important. Trust in the markets, and maintaining [01:21:00] the legal and regulatory framework that provides that trust, is very important. [01:21:03] If you don't maintain this, that is, if you don't maintain it today, [01:21:07] when this news first broke 3 days ago, in order to calm things down quickly, [01:21:11] Tera, the company you just mentioned, got involved and said, "We will fix [01:21:14] this, we will save it." But 3 days later, when faced with the real situation, [01:21:17] it might say, "This is beyond me." They haven't said anything like that yet, [01:21:21] but they are probably analyzing it. So the experts there might say, [01:21:25] "This is very risky, [01:21:29] buyurun eee hani tabii böyle bir şey var mı yok mu bilmiyoruz ama zaman zaman hani siz [01:21:32] kurtarın şeklinde telkinler geliyor demişken konuya dair Şimşek bugün [01:21:36] dedi ki eee sabahki televizyon [01:21:39] programında katıldığında banka dışı finans sektörüne i ilave [01:21:43] düzenleme ve denetim gerekiyor dedi. [01:23:20] very risky to go and save it, and it's a process where we still don't [01:23:23] fully understand what the large-scale work or transaction and its results [01:23:27] are. In such periods, transparency, and not a company taking over another [01:23:30] company and bearing the loss, but sharing with the public transparently [01:23:34] how the process works and how much damage everyone has suffered, is important. [01:23:38] But instead of doing this, they said that another company should [01:23:41] take it as a background or a plan B. That company also has an owner, [01:23:44] and that company is a publicly traded company, isn't it? So, it also [01:23:48] has investors to whom it must account. It looks and sees and says, [01:23:51] "If I get involved in this operation, I will incur a loss." So it might say, [01:23:55] "I shouldn't get involved." They are still evaluating it, as far as I understand. [01:23:59] The main issue. Uh-huh. Please. Uh, we don't know [01:24:03] if there is such a thing or not, but you mentioned that sometimes [01:24:06] suggestions like "you save it" come. Regarding this, Şimşek said today [01:24:09] in the morning television program he attended that additional [01:24:12] regulation and supervision are needed in the non-bank financial sector. [01:24:15] Now there are two questions here. First, many experts like you [01:24:18] have been saying that this is needed for about two years. It's not something [01:24:21] unexpected. I'm also getting these comments in the broadcasts I've been doing for days. [01:24:25] Has the Minister of Treasury and Finance just realized this, or why [01:24:28] did they delay so much? That's one question. And also, speaking of suggestions, [01:24:32] if the situation gets a little bigger, can the treasury [01:24:36] try to take on this responsibility? Well, we still don't know the size [01:24:39] of the damage caused here. So we need to see that, Gizem Hanım. [01:24:42] Without seeing that, we can't say whether the treasury will intervene or not. [01:24:46] What are the assets it holds? What is the value of those assets? What is [01:24:49] the ratio of being able to meet its liabilities with those assets? How much? [01:24:53] It's not easy to say this without seeing all this data. It could happen, [01:24:56] if necessary, with a regulation. But doing this would, first and foremost, [01:25:00] create a very serious problem in terms of public conscience. [01:25:04] That is, rescuing such a company with taxpayers' money, as you know, [01:25:07] since 2008 in America, there has been a worldwide debate [01:25:11] about rescuing companies, banks, financial institutions that went bankrupt [01:25:14] due to mismanagement or other wrongdoings, with taxpayers' money. So, will they [01:25:18] get involved in such a thing? Will they? Time will tell, but I must say [01:25:21] that it's important to take precautions before these things [01:25:24] happen. That is, after they happen, will the treasury save it, or [01:25:27] will someone else save it? What's the scale? How much money did whose go bankrupt? [01:25:30] People, what is the current anxiety? We don't know any of these. [01:25:33] Those who experience it know. But the existence of the state is important [01:25:36] for this reason, isn't it, Gizem Hanım? It exists so that such problems don't arise. [01:25:39] Why do we pay taxes? Why do we employ so many bureaucrats, managers, [01:25:43] and pay politicians? It's to avoid these problems, [01:25:47] so that the state exercises its auditing power and regulatory [01:25:50] power in favor of the citizens before such mistakes occur. [01:25:54] And now, two years later, the minister tells us that regulation [01:25:57] is needed there too. Mr. Minister knows the financial market very well. [01:26:01] He knew whether regulation was needed or not, I think, before all of us. [01:26:04] So we need to say this. Why did you wait two years? He was probably busy [01:26:07] fighting inflation, we will say. Inflation didn't drop. So he was very [01:26:10] busy, Mr. Minister was struggling with inflation, we will say, but it didn't drop. [01:26:14] So, therefore, what comes to my mind is this: [01:26:17] a little tolerance was shown. That is, the way was opened for these institutions. [01:26:21] There was a blind eye. It was said, "Okay, we'll see." My referring [01:26:24] to turning a blind eye means that these companies were allowed to operate [01:26:28] without certain auditing or regulatory rules. So, [01:26:31] now, let's make a regulation now that one has gone bankrupt. [01:26:35] And, as we all know, the regulation you will make now will be very strict [01:26:39] and tough, because this is generally how it happens in Turkey. And then, [01:26:42] it might also harm companies that are perhaps managing their business [01:26:46] better and managing these processes better. That is, not being able to strike [01:26:49] this balance, or constantly failing to strike it, is something that always happens [01:26:53] to us, and we don't learn our lesson. That's why the right thing to do [01:26:56] is this: an area is growing, many things are being established in the area, [01:26:59] financial relationships are being established. You stop and look and say, [01:27:03] "What is the situation of my auditing and regulatory authority here?" [01:27:06] And you do what is necessary to prevent such situations from arising. [01:27:10] Well, it happened now. Mr. Minister said that regulation needs to be made. [01:27:14] Welcome to our midst. So, sometimes he can find the truth, even if it's late. [01:27:17] And you emphasized trust so much. So let me ask this. Now, the scenario [01:27:20] that the government least wants and expects, especially for 2027, [01:27:24] as election dates have started to be discussed, is for investors to shift to gold [01:27:28] or, more so, to foreign currency. With this loss of trust, will we see [01:27:32] its effect in the markets? That is, will we experience investors shifting [01:27:35] more to dollars, euros, that is, to foreign currency? [01:27:38] Well, they made such a management [01:27:42] işte ceza kesen birilerini görüyoruz, dolayısıyla gelir [01:27:45] tarafında bir hayli performansı iyileştirebiliyorlar, e gider [01:27:49] tarafında baktık. fazla [01:27:52] harcıyoruz durun falan diyor biliyorlar e hal böyle olunca hani oradaki gerçekleşmeler biraz daha OVP'deki planlara [01:27:56] uygun ama bir yıllık vadede uygun orada Gizem hanım yani hani böyle [01:28:00] 3 yıllık bir başarı elde edilmiş falan değil yani bir sene önce [01:28:04] koyduğumuz o yani o zaman bir yıllık plan deyin [01:28:07] ona öyle değil mi bir yıllık plan deyin orada başarılı olursunuz buralarda [01:28:10] ama orta vadeli plan orta vadede bir yere ulaşmak istediğimizi [01:28:14] gösterir e orta vadede de söylediği o bütçe [01:28:17] gerçekleşmesi hedefleri de yok yani başarılı. bakın [01:28:21] Gizem Hanım. They also accumulated enough reserves to give this message. [01:28:24] You know, they clearly gave the market the message that they will allow [01:28:28] the foreign exchange rate to move at a pace that does not exceed [01:28:32] the inflation target, and does not negatively affect [01:28:35] their inflation target. Therefore, the general opinion is that they will not [01:28:39] allow this before an election, both for political reasons and for [01:28:42] the economic reasons I just mentioned. That is, this opinion is more prevalent [01:28:46] among you, me, and many other people, because a sudden jump there would affect [01:28:49] the inflation target and, as you just said, could cause other people [01:28:52] to dollarize with a snowball effect. You know the past examples. [01:28:55] That's why I think they won't allow this much. But will citizens [01:28:58] turn to this? Since they will also act with the same assumption, [01:29:02] it's possible to say that there will be more interest in other instruments [01:29:05] that are currently seen as high, especially interest rates. [01:29:08] Now, I want to continue with Mr. Şimşek. This is a very important question, [01:29:11] I'm very curious. Many targets were achieved thanks to the OVP. We exited [01:29:14] the currency-protected deposit scheme thanks to this. He said that [01:29:18] most of the targets are being met. Frankly, as someone who has studied [01:29:21] the OVP, I couldn't find which targets were met. If you could find them, [01:29:25] I'd be waiting to hear from you. I looked at inflation, [01:29:28] I looked at growth, I looked at many things, but I couldn't find it. In a couple [01:29:32] of items, that is, on the export and import side, there is a little [01:29:36] bit of success. Other than that, there is no very significant success. And also [01:29:39] on the budget realizations side, Gizem Hanım. That is, there is a certain amount of [01:29:43] success in two areas. But what we call budget realizations [01:29:46] is something that Mr. Şimşek himself is in charge of. That is, [01:29:50] they increase taxes. We see people giving fines at every corner. [01:29:53] Therefore, they can greatly improve performance on the income side. [01:29:57] And on the expenditure side, they say, "We are spending too much, [01:30:01] stop." So, when this is the case, the realizations there are a bit [01:30:05] more in line with the OVP plans, but in a one-year period, they are in line [01:30:08] there, Gizem Hanım. That is, it's not like a 3-year success has been achieved. [01:30:12] That is, the plan we set a year ago, let's call it a one-year plan then. [01:30:16] Isn't it? Let's call it a one-year plan, and you will be successful [01:30:19] there. But a medium-term plan indicates that we want to reach somewhere [01:30:22] in the medium term. And in the medium term, there are no budget realization targets [01:30:25] that he mentioned. Successful. Look, last year, the government said it would [01:30:28] make a budget of 23 trillion for 2027. This year, we learned [01:30:32] that it revised it to 27. It changes the size of its own budget [01:30:36] in a year. What happened, what changed? That is, this also needs to be explained. [01:30:39] There is no such explanation. Mr. Şimşek, of course, is in a very [01:30:42] difficult situation. Come on, you also mentioned that inflation is 7 points [01:30:46] due to the war. When did the war break out, for God's sake? [01:30:50] Even if we add 7 points, it doesn't work. I don't remember what the inflation [01:30:53] target in the OVP was at the beginning of the year, but it was last revised [01:30:57] from 16 to 28, from 16 to 28.4. [01:31:00] Let's say it wasn't like that. Let's add 7 points due to the war, [01:31:04] that makes 23. It's still like this. Think about something [01:31:08] more interesting. That is, before the war broke out, [01:31:11] inflation was 32. This war didn't break out in June 2023, [01:31:15] did it? So where were you for two years, for two and a half years? [01:31:18] It was there. The year before that, I didn't. Now, Mr. Şimşek's [01:31:21] ability to make excuses has really developed in recent years. [01:31:24] Whose ability to make excuses develops, Gizem Hanım? When I teach [01:31:28] a class, for example, the students who make the best excuses are usually [01:31:32] the ones who haven't done their homework. For example, a student who does their [01:31:36] homework doesn't need an excuse. That is, the student who says, "The power [01:31:39] went out last night, teacher," is usually the one who hasn't done their homework, [01:31:43] because you turn around and see that the power didn't even go out. [01:31:46] Now the same applies to Şimşek. The impact of the excuses he finds [01:31:50] is not this much. Look, an example: the increase in energy costs, [01:31:53] right? This is the most important effect of the war. In one year, [01:31:57] the price of diesel in Turkey increased by 75%. Look, in Turkish [01:32:00] Lira terms, in local currency terms, Turkey is perhaps one of the countries [01:32:04] where the price of diesel increased the most. If the liter price of diesel, [01:32:08] which increased by 30% in London and Paris, increases by 75% [01:32:11] in Turkey, then 35% of this is [01:32:15] due to the war, and 40% is due to incompetence. [01:32:18] Isn't that right? And then you say it's because of the war. [01:32:22] Look, we all need Mr. Minister to do this. We're talking about [01:32:26] trust, we're talking about prestige, we're talking about stability, [01:32:29] policy stability and prestige. Mr. Şimşek needs to say this just once: [01:32:34] "We failed." That is, I aimed to bring this here. [01:32:38] For example, Mr. Minister is talking about the medium-term plan. Then let [01:32:41] him tell us. Mr. Minister was saying that they were targeting 9% [01:32:44] inflation in 2027. A year ago, look, he was saying this a year ago. [01:32:47] Now the war happened. Okay, if it deviated by 7 points, [01:32:51] our 2027 inflation target should be 16, shouldn't it? [01:32:55] So, if I deviated by 7 points, what is our current target, [01:32:58] Gizem Hanım? 21. Where do the 5 points come from? The same [01:33:02] applies to this year. So, what he's talking about [01:33:05] doesn't even have a mathematical equivalent. Of course, [01:33:09] we were all affected by the war in the world, but we were caught [01:33:13] at such a point by the effect of this war that if it affects someone else by one, [01:33:16] it affects us by four. If it affects someone else by three, [01:33:20] it affects us by fifteen. Mr. Minister needs to come out and explain [01:33:23] why the thing that affects three in three worlds doesn't affect us [01:33:26] by three. He needs to explain this to everyone, so that we don't [01:33:30] experience the same thing again. [01:33:32] But of course, Mr. Minister's job is also difficult. He can't say [01:33:36] that the policies we implemented before me and during my term [01:33:39] no longer match the realities of this country in any way, that we failed [01:33:43] in this. Now we are talking as if it's Mr. Mehmet Şimşek's fault, [01:33:47] but of course, it's not. That is, this is the mistake [01:33:51] of the government that has been implementing these policies in Turkey [01:33:54] for the last 10 years. It's their mistake. I don't [01:33:58] want to make Mr. Minister seem like a part of it, because [01:34:01] he could have come and done the right thing, he could have said the right thing, [01:34:05] but he's following that path. But as a whole, the government [01:34:08] cannot manage this process, and it doesn't seem like it will be able [01:34:12] to manage it from now on, Gizem Hanım. That is, people think that [01:34:15] we will end the year that we started with 21 next year with 25 or 26. [01:34:19] People have already revised your inflation target themselves, [01:34:22] whether you want it or not. Because you can't break those expectations [01:34:25] anymore. Inertia, look, we need more time to break [01:34:29] this inertia. So, how much time do you need, Mr. Şimşek? [01:34:33] You've been in office for 3 years already. How many more years do you want? For example, how many years [01:34:36] will it take us to break the inflation inertia? Our lives [01:34:40] are short, so let me ask with that justification. Will we all see it, or [01:34:43] will Mr. Şimşek continue to struggle [01:34:45] with inflation inertia for many more years after we're gone? I hope we see it. [01:34:48] Now, you mentioned that due to the war, increased oil prices [01:34:51] are expected to bring another 4 lira and 62 kuruş increase [01:34:55] in diesel prices as of tonight. If this is reflected at the pump, [01:34:58] the liter price of diesel in Istanbul, or rather in Turkey, [01:35:02] will exceed 100 lira. Mehmet Şimşek also spoke about [01:35:05] the sliding scale system. He said that they sacrificed [01:35:09] a significant amount of revenue. So, what I understood from Mehmet [01:35:12] Şimşek's statements there is this: even if it reaches triple digits, [01:35:15] even if diesel is 100 lira or 120 lira, even if it continues to increase, [01:35:18] it seems that no exemption will be applied to fuel taxes again. [01:35:22] Now, Gizem, there are three price-influencing factors, [01:35:26] aren't there? In the price of diesel or gasoline. First, world prices, [01:35:29] that is, the prices of oil or the prices in Geneva where [01:35:33] we buy oil, or diesel and gasoline. Second, the exchange rate. [01:35:36] Third, taxes. Now, let me remove the exchange rate from the equation. [01:35:39] I made calculations in dollar terms. I looked and said, "Look, [01:35:43] the liter price of diesel in Istanbul increased by 49.1% in dollar terms [01:35:47] in one year." Look, when I remove the dollar term, what remains? [01:35:51] World prices and taxes, don't they? What remains is the fluctuation [01:35:54] in both of them. I removed the dollar. Well, for example, let me ask [01:35:57] you. How much did it increase in London? 33%. Look, [01:36:01] if something that increased by 33% in London [01:36:05] increases by 49% in Turkey, then the 16% increase in dollar [01:36:09] terms here must be due to taxes. Isn't that right? Because [01:36:11] the world from which London buys its oil, its diesel, [01:36:15] is not different from the world we buy from. As far as I know, [01:36:18] we still buy from the same world. Therefore, where does this 16% difference [01:36:22] come from? And if you lower this 16% difference a little [01:36:25] or abandon the sliding scale system, you can turn to this country and say, [01:36:29] "Look," they did it for a period, we all criticized it less, didn't we? [01:36:32] Look, they waived the special consumption tax. We said, "The government [01:36:36] took a reasonable step here." Now, Mr. Şimşek stubbornly says [01:36:40] that this special consumption tax will not be lowered. That is, [01:36:43] he says, "If it goes above 100 lira, you will buy diesel more expensively." [01:36:47] He says, "Our nation will bear all the negative effects it creates." [01:36:51] What you call tax, special consumption tax, [01:36:54] is a revenue you can waive. Well, why doesn't he waive it, [01:36:57] Gizem Hanım? He says budget discipline. For whom are you providing budget [01:37:01] discipline, Mr. Şimşek? He says he's providing it for us, right? [01:37:04] So then we say, "We want your budget discipline to be a little disrupted, [01:37:07] but we want a little more breathing room in our lives." [01:37:10] That is, making politics for people and making policies for people, [01:37:14] that is, doing it according to [01:37:21] the person you are responsible for, [01:37:21] are different things. Mr. Şimşek [01:37:27] acts within the framework of the task given to him. But [01:37:31] he is considered a bureaucrat, not elected, but appointed. [01:37:34] In the final analysis, the direction shown by the elected officials [01:37:38] is apparently budget discipline. The elected officials are turning [01:37:41] more and more, apparently. They are saying that what people [01:37:45] are experiencing is not important, but the state. Let me say one sentence, [01:37:48] Gizem. Look, politicians need to realize [01:37:51] that they are managing the country, not just institutions. [01:37:55] That is, focusing on managing the state and managing Turkey are not the same thing. [01:37:59] I say that the AK Party government, especially in the last 8-10 years, [01:38:02] has put aside managing Turkey and has been preoccupied with "let's manage [01:38:06] the state, let's deal with the state, let's design the state, let's look [01:38:09] at the state's trajectory." And this has alienated [01:38:13] all of us from our quality of life by miles. Absolutely. Associate Professor [01:38:17] Oğuz Demir, thank you for joining us, for the information you shared. [01:38:20] Thank you, I wish you good broadcasts. Thank you, indeed. Today, the stock market [01:38:23] experienced a veritable earthquake, and we evaluated Mehmet Şimşek's [01:38:26] statements together with Oğuz Demir. Now, there is the issue of the Chinese [01:38:30] car case, as you know, concerning this. He says, [01:38:34] "Are you not paying?" He says, "Then I will retaliate." [01:38:37] China won the car case it filed against Turkey. The Ministry [01:38:41] of Trade said it doesn't impose obligations on Turkey. China [01:38:45] or is this another one, there's a $100 million appeal stage [01:38:48] annually, meaning Turkey should appeal this by September [01:38:52] 26th. Turkey needs to submit its appeal to the World [01:38:55] Trade Organization. It hasn't yet, [01:38:59] it still hasn't, is there any preparation, do you know? [01:39:02] Since July 29th, still no [01:39:06] appeal has been made. The Ministry of Trade published [01:39:09] a statement on its social media account, confirming its right to [01:39:13] appeal. It stated that assessments claiming the report [01:39:17] created an obligation for Turkey to pay any compensation [01:39:20] or financial debt did not reflect the truth. It was [01:39:23] stated that the legal process was continuing within the framework [01:39:30] of World Trade Organization rules. We had previously brought [01:39:33] the details from the final expert report to your screens [01:39:37] on Halk TV yesterday. Soon, we will bring the [01:39:40] clear footage we have received to your screens, [01:39:43] and together with her lawyer, with the family's lawyer, [01:39:47] we will evaluate these important developments. Now, [01:39:50] there was a report prepared by a special expert at the request [01:39:53] of the Kabaiş family. We relayed it to you yesterday with Dinçer [01:39:57] Gökçe. Details were included. Her lawyer, Abdurrahman [01:40:00] Karabulut, is also preparing to apply for the exhumation [01:40:04] of Rojin's grave, for a forensic [01:40:07] examination. [01:40:14] The special expert report in the Rojin [01:40:16] Kabaiş investigation has been completed. The report includes [01:40:20] telephone, camera, HTS, and base station records. [01:40:23] Suspicious movements were detected in the enhanced [01:40:27] footage. Lawyer Abdurrahman Karabulut stated that they [01:40:30] would apply [01:40:31] for a grave exhumation. [01:40:38] One of the most important points in the report concerns the [01:40:41] location where the mobile phone was found. Significant footage [01:40:45] from the day after Rojin's disappearance was discovered [01:40:48] at the phone's location. A private security guard [01:40:51] leaves something among the bushes at around 10 AM [01:40:55] and remains among the bushes for 48 seconds. [01:40:59] 11 minutes later, Rojin's phone is found by a group [01:41:02] of young people at that location. It is suspected [01:41:06] that the security guard [01:41:07] left Rojin's phone there. [01:41:11] Another important development in the report is footage [01:41:14] of a house in Bardakçı on the night Rojin disappeared. [01:41:18] The footage shows two men and a woman taking a heavy [01:41:21] object from a white vehicle and carrying it into the [01:41:25] house. In the morning, [01:41:27] an hour before Rojin's phone was found, the same heavy [01:41:30] object is taken from the house and placed in the vehicle. [01:41:34] The possibility that this heavy object is Rojin's [01:41:37] lifeless body is being considered. Lawyer Karabulut [01:41:40] states that there is no [01:41:41] definitive finding yet, [01:41:45] but the situation is suspicious. There are two more suspicious [01:41:49] situations in the file. It was revealed that before [01:41:52] Rojin disappeared, she was communicating with someone [01:41:56] named Mehmet Çelik, addressing him as "teacher." Çelik's [01:41:59] phone was detected to have signaled at the same base [01:42:03] station as Rojin's phone. Also, Rojin's roommate had [01:42:06] stated that she was in the dormitory around 10:30 PM. [01:42:09] This statement does not match the base station, GPS, [01:42:12] and turnstile records. [01:42:14] It is expected that these [01:42:21] suspicions in the file will be clarified. Now, [01:42:24] we brought important details from the expert report to your [01:42:28] screens yesterday. After this [01:42:31] soruyu soracağız ama aynı zamanda raporda [01:42:35] hazırlanan bizim fotoğraf kareleriyle ekrana [01:42:37] getirdiğimiz eee o görüntülerin video hali [01:42:41] kesintisiz hali de ilk kez Halk TV [01:42:44] ekranlarında sizlerle buluşacak.
