[00:00:00] places for our Senj and for Otočac, we cannot be [00:00:03] happy because it goes downstream, so someone else will suffer, which means [00:00:07] we are equally worried about all the residents of Lika. The citizens' initiative [00:00:10] Gospić Our Home has been warning about this case for years, and [00:00:14] they also organized a protest, and they wonder how it is possible that no one [00:00:18] has reacted yet. It is sad that, in fact, until [00:00:21] today, and all public health bodies in [00:00:25] the Republic of Croatia, from the Ministry of Health to the institutes, [00:00:28] should already speak up tomorrow. for public health Andrrije Štamparara and [00:00:32] all of them, they must give the citizens of Gospić and Lika [00:00:35] guidelines on how to act on these conclusions from the findings [00:00:39] of the opinion. It is sad that a year and a half after the discovery [00:00:42] of the affair, there was no synergy of all [00:00:46] state bodies to protect their citizens, that is their [00:00:49] duty, for that they receive a salary. Urgent [00:00:52] remediation and urgent public health instructions to the citizens of Gospić [00:00:56] and Lika on how to behave, not only Lika but also [00:00:59] Croatian islands of Rab and Pag, given that they are supplied [00:01:03] with water from Lika's water supply, from Lika's underground [00:01:06] waters, which flow downstream. The publication of the findings [00:01:09] caused new political reactions, from the bridge they announce [00:01:14] on criminal charges against all those who they believe participated [00:01:17] in the illegal disposal of waste or knew about it and did not [00:01:20] react. On August 1st, we announced criminal [00:01:24] charges which will include all actors [00:01:27] who participated in it, from companies that are [00:01:30] under the USKOK protocol, to Šinček and [00:01:33] his resource office, to local self-government, all [00:01:37] mayors and prefects who participated in it, and even to the [00:01:41] flat-rate and referred to drivers who received money so that the waste could be dumped in [00:01:44] Gospić. At least 37,000 tons of waste [00:01:48] is still located in the area of Gospić. More than a year and [00:01:51] a half after the discovery of the affair, not a single kilogram has been removed. And [00:01:55] after the published expert opinion, it is clear that the problem is much wider [00:01:58] than Gospić itself. [00:02:00] planet. It's a destination where Katarina Plantak, N1, Gospić. [00:02:16] Janaf and Moll have reached an agreement on continued cooperation and signed [00:02:19] a contract for the transport of 2.05 million tons of [00:02:22] crude oil throughout 2026, [00:02:26] the Jutarnji list announced. This concluded several months of negotiations between the two [00:02:30] companies. The contract covers the period from January 1 to December [00:02:33] 31, 2026. And [00:02:36] it is based on the principle of full for empty, meaning that Mol pays for [00:02:40] contracted transport capacities, regardless of whether [00:02:43] it will fully utilize them. The agreement comes [00:02:46] after lengthy negotiations during which Moll claimed that Janaf's [00:02:50] prices were too high and questioned the reliability of the Croatian [00:02:53] oil pipeline. Janaf rejected these accusations, stating that [00:02:57] the prices are transparent and equal for all users. The negotiations were [00:03:00] further burdened by the political dimension after Hungary [00:03:04] of alleviating hostilities accused Croatia of exploiting the situation caused [00:03:07] by the restriction of Russian oil transit through Ukraine, which the Croatian [00:03:11] government rejected. [00:03:11] Petrinja and Slunj, where the bridge on [00:03:25] It's the peak of the heatwave. Croatia is extremely [00:03:28] hot today. Temperatures are everywhere between [00:03:32] 35 and 39 [00:03:34] degrees, and the red weather alert is still [00:03:38] valid for the entire country today. Towards the end of the day in the interior of Istria and Dalmatia, [00:03:41] with stronger cloud development expected, local [00:03:45] thunderstorms with lightning are possible, as well as in mountainous [00:03:48] Croatia. [00:03:53] We will certainly bring a more detailed forecast later in the broadcast due to the heatwave. [00:03:57] The Krško nuclear power plant, as of today, is operating at 80% [00:04:01] of its reactor power, although not because it has cooling problems, but [00:04:05] to avoid heating the Sava above the legally permitted level. The [00:04:08] power plant announced that if necessary, they will react again and [00:04:12] reduce capacity. The Croatian electricity company says [00:04:15] that this does not jeopardize supply. Temperatures today were [00:04:19] extremely high across the country, despite lines of [00:04:22] unstable weather that will reach us tomorrow [00:04:25] for real cooling. We might have to wait until September [00:04:29] 1st. Andrej [00:04:31] Dimitrijević brings the story. [00:04:34] As the heatwave further heated the Sava River, the Krško nuclear power plant [00:04:38] is operating today at 80% of its reactor [00:04:40] power. Not because it has cooling problems, but to avoid heating the [00:04:44] Sava above the legally permitted level. If the current [00:04:47] hydrological and meteorological conditions continue to worsen, [00:04:51] the Krško nuclear power plant will continue to further reduce reactor [00:04:54] power. The Krško nuclear power plant will again [00:04:58] operate at full power when conditions [00:05:00] allow it. The Croatian electricity company states that [00:05:03] supply is not jeopardized by this. HEP [00:05:06] continuously monitors the situation in the domestic and regional electricity [00:05:10] system and manages its production portfolio and electricity [00:05:13] procurement to ensure reliable, safe, and stable [00:05:16] supply to its [00:05:19] customers in all [00:05:22] circumstances. It felt like an oven for everyone who had to go [00:05:25] out on the street today. In Zagreb, the temperature exceeded [00:05:28] 37°. Citizens are aware that with such [00:05:32] temperatures, it's not something to joke about. I don't go out much, [00:05:36] so I can endure it. How do you [00:05:38] cool down? At home, I don't have air conditioning, but at home, at home. [00:05:43] It's a little hot, but you can endure it. Drink [00:05:47] water, drink like that and [00:05:50] do everything until 10, 11 o'clock and that's it, no more [00:05:53] work. Some, however, don't have that luxury, bread must [00:05:57] be earned, even in Požega. [00:05:59] Slowly, we cool down with cold drinks and so on [00:06:02] in the shade under an umbrella and so on. How long have you been here every [00:06:06] day? Until two o'clock, until 14:00, which means you have to work [00:06:10] in the heat under quite strong sun, yes. 308, so it's not exactly [00:06:13] easy. Atmospheric physicist Grizo Gonjo says that this [00:06:17] heatwave is a consequence of global warming, but also of atmospheric [00:06:21] conditions. The climate is not in a stationary state, [00:06:24] which means global warming is occurring, which then intensifies [00:06:28] the effects, especially in Western Europe, Portugal, [00:06:32] Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and even in [00:06:35] Croatia. There were heatwaves before, but [00:06:39] they usually wouldn't last two weeks and... "We [00:06:42] know that Croatia suffers the greatest damage from droughts in general, [00:06:46] this is now intensifying," he says, adding that it would be wise to invest [00:06:49] in a safer and more robust water supply system, better plan traffic, and [00:06:53] pre-water critical areas on the coast with Canadair planes. He [00:06:56] also adds that in such situations, we all need to start with [00:07:00] ourselves, be careful with waste, careful with [00:07:03] water, don't stay in the shower for too long, [00:07:06] and plan when to turn on the [00:07:10] air conditioning and [00:07:13] fans, meaning [00:07:16] that it also applies to traffic and car air conditioning, [00:07:20] transport, simply optimization and minimization [00:07:23] wherever possible. Meteorologist Lipovčak says that we will [00:07:27] only fully breathe a sigh of relief by the Assumption. However, [00:07:31] the next two days will still have slightly lower temperatures. [00:07:34] Currently, there is a weakened cold front from the [00:07:38] northern side of the Alps, it will only graze us with its tail, [00:07:41] so it will cause a little cloudiness tomorrow [00:07:45] afternoon in the northwestern parts of the interior and on [00:07:49] the northern Adriatic, there may be local [00:07:53] thunderstorms, some gusts of wind, but [00:07:56] we expect it not to be significant, it's not a [00:07:59] real front, but there will be lines of instability, but [00:08:03] that means that temperatures will drop by a maximum of 6° Celsius and [00:08:07] remain at around +30, which is not [00:08:09] much, but in these conditions, it's better [00:08:12] than nothing. Andrej Dimitrijević, N1, [00:08:16] Zagreb. [00:08:19] And Hungary and Romania are forced to go further with savings due to [00:08:23] extremely low river levels. The new decision is to turn off decorative lighting [00:08:26] in all state institutions at night. The record low [00:08:30] water level of the Danube is forcing authorities to take new [00:08:33] measures to save money. Romania has declared a state [00:08:36] of emergency. Nuclear power plants in both Hungary and Romania are operating at [00:08:40] reduced capacity because water from the Danube is used for cooling [00:08:43] reactors. Hungarian companies and households are reducing electricity [00:08:47] consumption this week after a government appeal [00:08:50] to reduce pressure on the grid. The level of the Danube is at historical lows in [00:08:54] Romania, three times lower than usual for [00:08:58] the average for [00:09:01] August. [00:09:13] wasn't going to happen and i was so disappointed and i checked in the internet, i [00:09:16] asked um artificial intelligence why the building was [00:09:20] f up and it said that it was because of an energy due [00:09:23] to the hot weather and but it [00:09:27] was really frustrating, was annoyed i'm honest and i [00:09:30] was so disappointed and i was going a river cruise as well by [00:09:34] night and all the blinks [00:09:35] and [00:09:41] a minimum of this. [00:09:50] if i was coming here specifically like to see the city lit up at night that would suck you know [00:09:54] what i mean i don't know the nuances so like let's say that like there's [00:09:58] actually a good reason for why that the [00:10:01] city is proposing and there's evidence for that then you [00:10:04] know righteous [00:10:05] reasons [00:10:10] but I think this is a very good thing [00:10:20] the Danube near Vukovar has seriously disrupted river traffic there. [00:10:24] The river is so shallow in some parts that cargo ships can [00:10:27] no longer sail, which has almost completely stopped traffic in the port of [00:10:31] Vukovar. According to the latest data, the water level has [00:10:34] fallen by 73 cm, and in some parts of the navigable waterway, the depth is [00:10:38] just over one meter. Because of this, ships are forced to wait for [00:10:42] more favorable conditions or reduce their cargo. In the port of Vukovar, they state that [00:10:45] there has been no navigation for about ten days and warn that [00:10:49] if the water level does not increase soon, they could lose part of the contracted [00:10:53] traffic. [00:10:56] "We have the so-called Mohovo channel, so, [00:11:00] maybe you could record that three [00:11:03] convoys are parked there, meaning currently [00:11:06] neither from the cargo nor from the tourist part, [00:11:09] i.e. cruise ships, not a single [00:11:12] ship is sailing. What is important for you here is that [00:11:15] you monitor the loss of income, [00:11:18] and not a small one, yes, in the last month [00:11:22] we have, with our business partners, signed [00:11:25] contracts for about 200,000 tons of goods [00:11:29] that were supposed to be delivered and unloaded [00:11:32] in the Port of Vukovar, [00:11:34] uh, the potential revenue we are talking about is 800,000 [00:11:38] euros, mm, two convoys with certain types [00:11:41] of goods departed from the Port of Constanta and are located at [00:11:45] some 500, 550 kilometers, waiting anchored and [00:11:49] waiting for a better draft and a better Danube. How long will that [00:11:53] be, some predictions are that it won't be before [00:11:55] September 1st, [00:12:01] but the real cargo ships had to stop anyway, yes, either [00:12:05] they stopped at anchorages or they are somewhere in other ports waiting for the [00:12:09] water level to become more favorable, right? That's the [00:12:12] situation with these Austrian vessels near Mohovo, which did not [00:12:16] run aground, but simply decided and realized where it was [00:12:20] logical to stop. That's right, they were in upstream navigation, they are in [00:12:23] Serbian... under their jurisdiction because they sailed from [00:12:27] Bačka Palanka upstream and they estimated that [00:12:31] passing through the Mohovo channel would be too dangerous due to their greater [00:12:34] draft. On the navigable waterway, we currently have only near the town of Erdut [00:12:38] two stranded cargo ships that also exceeded [00:12:42] their draft, so they are now there right in the navigable waterway and are waiting [00:12:45] for the water level to rise [00:12:49] so they can sail off. What about these [00:12:52] tourist cruisers? Well... most [00:12:55] of them, a large majority, have already been canceled, so for [00:12:59] last month and this month since this situation, in Vukovar [00:13:03] alone, about 60 arrivals have been canceled, [00:13:06] Ilok and Aljmaš around [00:13:08] 40. Currently, we have one passenger ship in Vukovar that [00:13:12] is also waiting for the water level to [00:13:15] rise a bit, and in Ilok, we have one ship that should perhaps sail [00:13:19] tomorrow. [00:13:22] And those who have lived their whole lives by the Danube, [00:13:25] say they don't remember such a retreat of the river [00:13:28] much. [00:13:31] I mean, I just can't believe it. When I was here recently [00:13:35] and first heard about it, when I arrived, I was shocked, why is this happening, [00:13:39] because of what, I probably have some [00:13:42] connection with this drought, right? I've seen all these climate changes [00:13:45] and unfortunately, I'm a bit pessimistic about it, [00:13:49] I believe it will get much, much worse very soon. The time to sail, not yet, [00:13:53] not yet for which? You will be able to in a few days if it continues [00:13:56] like this. That's a problem there, and it's narrow [00:14:00] and shallow there. All of them are parked [00:14:03] in Šaringrad, mostly in Ilok, these [00:14:05] cruisers, this one won't leave for another [00:14:09] month. [00:14:10] And [00:14:17] despite record low river levels due to [00:14:20] prolonged drought and high temperatures, drinking water supply in [00:14:24] Croatia is stable for now, Croatian Waters announced today. [00:14:27] They emphasize that the water supply to the population is ensured, [00:14:30] although some water sources are experiencing reduced [00:14:33] inflows. On the Danube and Drava, the lowest water levels have been recorded [00:14:37] since systematic measurements began. Due to the lack of [00:14:40] significant rainfall, they warn that an increase in water levels [00:14:43] is expected soon. Croatian Waters states that they monitor the situation on [00:14:47] rivers and water sources daily and take measures to preserve [00:14:50] water resources and respond promptly if hydrological [00:14:54] conditions further worsen. [00:15:09] Tomorrow, two laws will go into public discussion that should increase [00:15:13] veterans' pensions, a government move announced by Andrej Plenković yesterday [00:15:17] in Knin. Minister Tomo Medved revealed more details [00:15:20] about the planned changes that should cover about 200 [00:15:25] veterans. Through the law on active military personnel, the reduction from [00:15:28] 2002 will be abolished, [00:15:30] and through the law on veterans, a new calculation and [00:15:34] valorization of the combat sector will be introduced. [00:15:39] We still need to abolish the third reduction, the one from [00:15:43] 2002, and that is why through [00:15:47] amendments to that law on active military personnel and [00:15:50] authorized official persons, we will abolish [00:15:54] the reduction of 8 to 20% for those [00:15:57] Croatian veterans, soldiers, police officers who were [00:16:01] retired on that basis. [00:16:04] We will also amend the law on Croatian veterans. [00:16:07] "I remind you what law we are talking about, so we are [00:16:11] talking about a law that I started drafting in [00:16:15] partnership with associations on the first day I took over the ministry [00:16:18] in 2016. year, [00:16:22] then we corrected many injustices, filled [00:16:25] many gaps and [00:16:28] today, after many years of application, [00:16:32] another amendment to that law follows, this [00:16:35] amendment will refer to the method of calculation and [00:16:39] additions for Croatian veterans who were [00:16:43] retired under that law. What I will [00:16:46] highlight as particularly important, and today is the occasion here [00:16:52] Mrežnica, where the 14th Home Guard Regiment [00:16:55] Slunj set off to liberate Slunj, is the valorization [00:16:59] of the combat sector. Every month spent in [00:17:02] the combat sector will be specially valued and [00:17:05] through financial calculation of their [00:17:09] pensions. [00:17:12] And Medved responded to the criticisms that came from the Možemo party. He says that their [00:17:15] legislative proposals were [00:17:19] a smaller number of veterans, and that the government therefore did not adopt them. On the other [00:17:22] hand, Damir Bakić stated in our new day that their [00:17:26] legislative proposals were delayed in parliament, and that the [00:17:29] government eventually repackaged them and presented them [00:17:33] as its own. [00:17:36] But I would say this is an forced move. It was perfectly [00:17:39] clear, perfectly clear from all, how [00:17:42] shall I say, all indicators, from our contacts, we went through [00:17:46] in our campaign, we went through maybe [00:17:50] 10 or 15 major Croatian cities, everywhere the reaction was [00:17:54] the same, everywhere we received [00:17:56] extremely, how shall I say, extremely strong, open, [00:18:00] undivided support for [00:18:03] raising that issue, [00:18:06] uh argument. The argumentation, as I said, was never [00:18:10] refuted, and it seems to me that [00:18:13] the government had nowhere else to go but, as [00:18:16] unfortunately happens in our political [00:18:19] milieu, uh, not [00:18:20] to constructively [00:18:24] agree to a discussion of a proposal that came [00:18:27] from the opposition, as it never did, [00:18:30] but to quickly crush [00:18:34] that proposal and then [00:18:38] present it [00:18:39] as their own. [00:18:42] The commemorations continue for the 31st anniversary of Operation [00:18:45] Storm in Croatia today in [00:18:49] Mrežnica was named after the 14th Home Guard Regiment of Slunj, [00:18:53] which on the second day of Operation Storm in 1995 entered [00:18:56] there, and into Rakovica and Cetingrad. They crossed [00:19:00] the bridge that enemy forces had mined, and the engineering [00:19:04] unit repaired the bridge on Mrežnica on the night of the 6th. [00:19:14] And in Uzdolje near Knin, a commemoration was held this morning for eight killed Serbian [00:19:18] civilians, for whom SDSS MP Anja Šimpraga demanded justice and [00:19:22] sent an appeal for consistent condemnation of all crimes and [00:19:25] equal care for all victims. This is the only way, [00:19:28] she emphasized, towards a society that is based on universal values [00:19:31] and not on selective memory. She drew attention to the recent [00:19:35] decision of the Constitutional Court, [00:19:37] according to which Croatia, by not conducting an effective investigation [00:19:41] into the murder of these eight Serbian civilians in Uzdolje, violated [00:19:44] the Constitution and the Convention for the Protection of Human [00:19:47] Rights. [00:19:51] And let me immediately emphasize that I am not talking about the past today [00:19:54] to perpetuate divisions. I am talking about [00:19:57] the past because without truth and justice, there is no [00:20:01] lasting trust among citizens, no full [00:20:03] democracy, and no true reconciliation. [00:20:07] Likewise, we equally want every crime to be investigated and [00:20:11] every missing person of all [00:20:14] 1727 nationalities, among them [00:20:17] 40% of Serbian [00:20:20] nationality. The strength of joint commemorations, the arrival [00:20:24] of the highest state representatives, was a light in resolving [00:20:28] relations, accepting diversity as richness, as [00:20:31] well as expressing sorrow for the fact that the Croatian state [00:20:34] failed to protect its citizens, while on the other [00:20:38] hand, Croatian society was warned that it must gather [00:20:41] strength and admit that during Operation Storm, crimes were [00:20:44] unfortunately committed against Serbian civilians that should [00:20:48] not and did not have to happen. [00:20:51] Zagreb police published details [00:20:54] of a serious traffic accident in Botinec in which three people died. [00:20:58] The accident happened last night around 10 p.m. when a [00:21:01] 35-year-old female driver of a [00:21:04] passenger car in Doctor Luje Naletilića Street lost control [00:21:07] of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and with great force hit [00:21:11] a concrete power pole, practically splitting in half. At [00:21:15] the scene of the accident, a 48-year-old passenger died, [00:21:18] while the driver and a 29-year-old passenger were [00:21:22] transported to the hospital where they later died. The police reported [00:21:25] that the vehicle's traffic permit and registration had expired last [00:21:29] year. The investigation and criminal investigation into [00:21:32] the circumstances of this tragedy are still ongoing. [00:21:48] Iran, according to a possible agreement, [00:21:50] could take control of ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, [00:21:54] one of the world's most important routes for energy transport, Iranian regional [00:21:57] sources state. Such an agreement would represent a major [00:22:01] concession to Tehran and significantly change the balance of power in the region, but [00:22:04] the American side has not yet commented on this proposal. US President [00:22:08] Donald Trump stated that an agreement to reopen the strait [00:22:12] is close, but earlier Washington said it would not accept Iranian [00:22:16] control over this key maritime route. Iran also warned [00:22:20] Persian Gulf countries that any new American attack could [00:22:23] provoke a response aimed at energy infrastructure in [00:22:27] the region. [00:22:31] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the latest American [00:22:34] proposal for the Gaza Strip, stating that Israel will not accept a plan that [00:22:38] does not guarantee its security. Netanyahu said that the Trump [00:22:41] administration's proposal was not acceptable and that Israel had provided [00:22:45] Washington with its objections. Although the plan envisions a gradual [00:22:48] withdrawal of the Israeli army after the complete disarmament [00:22:52] of Hamas, the Israeli prime minister emphasized that Israel's survival [00:22:56] is not a subject for negotiation. Meanwhile, Hamas claims that it [00:22:59] accepted the proposal and called on the United States to pressure [00:23:03] Israel to reach a ceasefire agreement. [00:23:06] Two Israeli soldiers were killed in Southern [00:23:09] Lebanon, the Israeli army announced, while at least one person was killed [00:23:13] in Israeli retaliatory attacks. The Lebanese [00:23:16] Ministry of Health claims this. Yesterday, the Israeli army began attacks in southern [00:23:20] Lebanon in response to what it called Hezbollah's [00:23:23] violation of the truce. Israeli local media reported that [00:23:27] two soldiers were killed and four wounded when an explosive device [00:23:30] detonated in the area where they were operating in the south. The Lebanese [00:23:34] Ministry of Health announced that one person was killed [00:23:38] in the Israeli attack and at least twelve others were wounded. The outbreak [00:23:41] of violence coincides with the latest round of negotiations between Israel and [00:23:44] Lebanon in Rome. The two countries agreed in June on [00:23:48] a security arrangement mediated by Washington, with the aim [00:23:54] along the border. Israel, however, said it would maintain a security zone [00:23:58] in southern Lebanon to eliminate the threat from the Hezbollah group [00:24:01] supported by Iran. [00:24:04] Today, Japan commemorates [00:24:08] the 81st anniversary of the American nuclear attack [00:24:11] on Hiroshima, which was the first such attack in history. From August 6, [00:24:15] 1945, when the US dropped [00:24:17] an atomic bomb on the Japanese city, thereby [00:24:20] accelerating the end of World War II, until the end of that year, [00:24:24] about 140,000 people died from the explosion itself and from injuries [00:24:28] and illnesses caused by radiation. [00:24:31] Approximately 50,000 people from 123 countries, including [00:24:35] survivors, paid tribute with a minute of silence in the Hiroshima [00:24:38] Peace Memorial Park, after the peace bell rang exactly at [00:24:42] 8:15 a.m. local time, when the [00:24:45] bomb was dropped. The bomb weighing about [00:24:49] 4 tons killed everyone within a 500-meter radius [00:24:53] immediately and destroyed 90% of the city. Three days [00:24:56] after Hiroshima, the US dropped a bomb on Nagasaki, [00:25:00] killing about 74,000 people. [00:25:16] And while the entire Mediterranean is literally boiling at temperatures above [00:25:20] 40 degrees, and a summer vacation on the beach for many becomes just a struggle for [00:25:24] a little shade, a completely new tourist hit is created. [00:25:28] It is about "coolcation", i.e., a summer escape from [00:25:31] unbearable heat to colder regions. Forget roasting in the [00:25:35] sun, the hit of the season becomes light jackets, [00:25:38] raincoats in a backpack and a pleasant 15 degrees Celsius. [00:25:41] From the Green Gorski Kotar all the way to the far Scandinavian north, [00:25:45] we investigated why deep shade has become a new tourist [00:25:48] plus. More to... [00:25:54] Instead of beaches and summer heat, Anja's [00:25:57] summer vacation this year will be a pleasant 19 degrees [00:26:01] in warm winds. These two teenagers, instead of [00:26:04] traditional roasting on the Adriatic, convinced their parents [00:26:07] to make a complete turnaround, a family vacation in [00:26:11] the cooler north of Europe. On their journey, they told us [00:26:14] from Gothenburg, Sweden. This year we decided to swap our swimsuits [00:26:18] for raincoats and hiking boots, and [00:26:21] the main reason for that was that we have friends in Bergen, in [00:26:24] Norway. So, on the way, we decided to visit Berlin, [00:26:28] Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and Oslo. The main reason we decided [00:26:31] to go on this trip was that we wanted to experience a slightly different [00:26:35] summer vacation for a change, instead of a vacation on the Adriatic. [00:26:39] The traditional image of a perfect summer is slowly melting away. [00:26:42] The so-called "coolcation" is a combination of exactly the opposite, [00:26:45] a summer vacation in colder regions. This trend [00:26:48] is noticed in travel agencies. Destinations that were [00:26:52] once reserved for spring are now [00:26:55] an absolute summer hit. For example, we have the most inquiries for Norway, [00:26:58] Finland, Sweden. We have our [00:27:01] Baltic program, which includes Lithuania, Latvia, [00:27:04] Estonia. For example, that departure for the Baltic [00:27:07] during July and August is completely sold out, and Iceland is also [00:27:11] very popular this year. And prices? Well, for example, the Baltic is an [00:27:14] eight-day trip for about [00:27:17] 1150 euros per person. Iceland is a little [00:27:20] more expensive, it's 10,590 euros per [00:27:24] person. Renowned local adventurer and travel [00:27:28] blogger Kristijan Iličić achieved a historic feat by [00:27:31] traveling through all 97 internationally recognized [00:27:34] countries in the world. With this achievement, he became the first Croat in [00:27:38] history to visit all seven continents. He highlights [00:27:41] Antarctica as one of his favorite trips, but for Croats looking to escape [00:27:44] the heat, he recommends Iceland. In my opinion, [00:27:48] Iceland is literally like one big national park. In a relatively [00:27:52] small area, you have volcanoes, glaciers, [00:27:54] geysers, hundreds of waterfalls, black sand [00:27:58] beaches, and landscapes that look like they are on another [00:28:03] you experience something new every day, and I believe that precisely [00:28:06] such trips will be the future for many who want to escape [00:28:10] extreme summer temperatures. Local tourists sought refuge from the city's heat [00:28:13] in Zagreb's Zrinjevac, where [00:28:17] the mercury in the shade rose to 37 [00:28:21] what do you think about culcation? [00:28:24] um, it sounds fun, [00:28:28] hot and you want to go to a gold place and is it hot for you here in [00:28:31] Zagreb? [00:29:02] "Yes, of course, yes, but people have to accept that [00:29:06] what they have here, going to the sea once a month, annually, and so [00:29:10] on, that's what it used to be, but I think that will [00:29:14] change with the new generation. This is not just a passing fad from [00:29:18] social networks, science also confirms that climate change has begun [00:29:21] to fundamentally alter the tourism map of Europe. Tourism will [00:29:25] adapt and is already adapting. Of course, our destinations are already [00:29:29] thinking about it, and our research [00:29:32] shows that guests are increasingly active, increasingly [00:29:36] valuing ecology, quality [00:29:38] food, the preservation [00:29:42] of destinations, and all those natural beauties that we have, which are [00:29:45] truly a magnet for the guests who visit us." [00:29:49] Therefore, for a perfect climatic escape, you don't necessarily have to buy an expensive [00:29:53] plane ticket to Scandinavia or Iceland. Croatia has its [00:29:56] own Adriatic gem which is experiencing a true renaissance during heatwave [00:29:59] days. Gorski Kotar. Guests there [00:30:03] are offered year-round tourism, from skiing and sledding for [00:30:06] children in winter, while in summer tourists look for [00:30:09] hiking, mountaineering, cycling, swimming in [00:30:13] lakes during the summer months, or swimming in [00:30:16] rivers. As much as Gorski Kotar [00:30:20] is primarily associated with winter and deep [00:30:23] snow, tourism figures show that [00:30:26] 60% of tourist traffic has been generated for years [00:30:29] in the three summer months: June, July [00:30:33] and August. Winter jackets instead of swimsuits, [00:30:36] mountain trails instead of shallow waters. Climate change [00:30:39] is dramatically changing our planet, and the very definition of an ideal [00:30:43] vacation. Salvation and refreshment are definitely increasingly [00:30:47] sought in completely different geographical latitudes. [00:30:51] Nataša Vidaković, N1, [00:30:53] Zagreb.
