[00:04:38] independent testing company that meta uses to test cyber security
[00:04:42] test their AI models and a regular says there's no current open issues
[00:04:46] with this and they're actually working a white paper to share best
[00:04:49] practices for containment of these AI models. you come on in the
[00:04:53] morning and scare the hell out of us with all the stuff is going on. i literally have to ask you, wait

[00:05:00] and open AI cases, what was going on there? yeah, I mean, this technology is

[00:05:11] institute... revealed that during cyber testing of both Anthropic and Open
[00:05:15] AI models, they found unsanctioned actions by these models. In the most
[00:05:19] severe case, one of the models, which was anthropic model, wanted to
[00:05:22] publish malicious code on GitHub, which is essentially the wikipedia of
[00:05:26] software code, and in order to try to convince the human editor, they
[00:05:30] made up several fake identities, several fake accounts to try and get
[00:05:34] this human editor to publish this malicious code. As part of that same effort,
[00:05:37] this AI agent emailed several real people trying to get
[00:05:41] them to... publish or run this malicious code, according to the
[00:05:45] UK AI security institute, they say this is the first
[00:05:48] time that they have ever seen deception of this severity that was targeted a real
[00:05:52] person, unprompted in the real world. they did not
[00:05:55] tell the models to do this, they were just testing them. now to be
[00:05:59] clear, when they're testing these models, they remove some of their
[00:06:02] safeguards to be able to test their full capabilities, and the
[00:06:06] institute does say that they were unsuccessful in publishing this
[00:06:09] malicious code and that there was no real world harm. committed, but that's
[00:06:13] because the human reviewer didn't fall for it, it's like a
[00:06:16] scammer who tries to pretend to be your bank and tries to get you to do something wrong, but this
[00:06:20] time it was an AI agent. yeah, mean the news here is they're trying, the machines are trying

[00:20:01] involved in such operations, and technology is supercharging
[00:20:05] this. AI can help criminals. write convincing
[00:20:08] messages in many languages, it can create realistic images, it
[00:20:12] can clone voices and it makes fake identities much harder to
[00:20:15] detect. as large language models, for example, have gotten better
[00:20:19] and better, you're suddenly globalizing the audience you can
[00:20:23] communicate with. some scam factories use specialized software
[00:20:26] that incorporates leading AI models to automate and scale their
[00:20:29] operations. a recent investigation found open AI
[00:20:33] chat gpt and google's gemini to be the most used
[00:20:36] tools, but models from Europe and China were also used. Internet
[00:20:40] access is another key part of the operation. Starlink is the number
[00:20:43] one internet service provider in Myanmar where many scam factories are
