[00:10:12] all initiatives for the recall
[00:10:15] of the government, whoever submits them we give signatures,
[00:10:19] we support such initiatives, what needs to be clear to us is that it is not
[00:10:22] enough to just overthrow Plenković
[00:10:25] and bring a new HDZ government with new partners to
[00:10:28] power, it is necessary to overthrow the HDZ from
[00:10:31] power. The HDZ is an octopus that has occupied
[00:10:35] all institutions at all levels of this country. An extraordinary session
[00:10:38] can be convened by the President of the Republic Zoran Milanović, the opposition
[00:10:42] claims that this is what is expected of him. President
[00:10:45] Milanović has his own powers, I
[00:10:48] expect that President Milanović will at some point convene an extraordinary
[00:10:52] session of the parliament, because this is not as it is... neither left nor right issues, this is

[00:12:00] powers to convene an extraordinary session of the Croatian
[00:12:04] Parliament, at which the item of urgent remediation of waste in Gospić will be placed on the agenda,
[00:12:07] proportional financial resources will be provided, and the government will be compelled to commit
[00:12:11] to the Croatian Parliament, and thus to all citizens of Croatia, to a concrete
[00:12:15] deadline within which the stated remediation will take place. Although
[00:12:18] Milanović has not yet commented, he has not hidden his dissatisfaction
[00:12:22] with this government until now. Will a vote of no confidence
[00:12:26] in the government be passed and will the opposition remain

[00:13:38] commissioned a study from the Faculty of Geology to see what
[00:13:42] is there and what is happening, what are the quality steps that all of us together
[00:13:46] must take to solve that
[00:13:49] problem.
[00:13:50] New findings of the Croatian
[00:13:54] Institute of Public Health show that the water
[00:13:57] from the water supply network in Gospić, caused in
[00:14:01] the Lika cafe, as well as the water from the Mrdjenovac spring,
[00:14:04] complies with the prescribed values. The sample was taken on
[00:14:07] Tuesday, and numerous chemical parameters were analyzed,
[00:14:10] including PF compounds. No
[00:14:13] exceedance of any tested parameter was found, and the final assessment
[00:14:17] of the HZZ is compliant. It is important, however, to emphasize that the
[00:14:21] results refer exclusively to specific samples and, by themselves,
[00:14:25] cannot be proof that all water in the Gospić area is the same,
[00:14:28] nor do they answer the question of possible soil
[00:14:32] or groundwater contamination around the illegal
[00:14:34] landfill.
[00:14:38] On Tuesday, August 11, 2026,
[00:14:41] water sampling was carried out in the Lika-Senj County area,
[00:14:45] during which three samples of raw
[00:14:50] the point of use were taken. The results of the conducted analyses
[00:14:53] show that all tested water samples are in compliance with
[00:14:56] the prescribed values and that the determined concentrations are below
[00:15:00] the maximum permissible concentrations prescribed by
[00:15:03] the pravilnik on conformity parameters, analysis methods and monitoring
[00:15:06] of water intended for human
[00:15:10] consumption. In all samples, the concentrations of all
[00:15:13] analyzed Pefas compounds, as well as their sum, were below
[00:15:17] the quantification limit. The results are in line with
[00:15:20] previous analyses that are regularly carried out at the source in
[00:15:24] the water supply. Additional chemical microbiological
[00:15:27] analyses are still underway, and due to the time required for their
[00:15:31] implementation, their results will be published later. The Croatian
[00:15:34] Institute of Public Health will continue to monitor the situation and promptly
[00:15:38] inform the public about the results of the conducted
[00:15:41] analyses.
[00:15:44] And the Gospić case has reached the European Union, primarily
[00:15:48] thanks to the citizens, says MEP Gordan
[00:15:51] Bosanac. Seven residents of the Gospić area who live near
[00:15:55] the landfill in Brussels have been subjected to blood tests
[00:15:58] for Pefa compounds. Results are expected by the end of this month or
[00:16:02] early next month. The initiative Gospić naš

[00:18:49] engineering should come immediately, no public procurement, no processes
[00:18:53] of seeking various solutions in Europe, it needs to be remediated this
[00:18:56] instant, look, this is like a fire burning,
[00:19:00] they admit that it's burning in the local HDZ, they are appalled, they say,
[00:19:04] by the fact that potentially dangerous waste was illegally
[00:19:08] dumped here, so they confirmed that they asked institutions for the expert
[00:19:12] assessment. We have already requested it in writing
[00:19:15] based on the information I have and I think we will get that finding
[00:19:19] and we will immediately inform the public about the findings of that
[00:19:22] expert assessment, actually about everything that is here below us, and we are
[00:19:26] actually at the place where that waste was deposited or
[00:19:30] dumped. They requested an extraordinary water quality measurement from
[00:19:33] the county public health institute. Nobody is
[00:19:37] comfortable, I'm not comfortable standing here either, what you said, maybe we are also
[00:19:41] inhaling that unfortunate plastic and those
[00:19:44] particles, but here we are. The local
[00:19:47] SDP wonders why the expert assessment for
[00:19:51] Gospić was published, but not for Benkovac, they insist that the
[00:19:54] culprit for this be found and punished. Citizens of
[00:19:57] Benkovac and surrounding settlements have the right to know about the quality of
[00:20:01] the soil and the quality of the soil, i.e., the amount of
[00:20:04] pollution, uh, in Benkovac
[00:20:07] itself. From this place, I will announce that we will
[00:20:10] certainly engage experts and
[00:20:13] independent laboratories to conduct an analysis because we do not trust
[00:20:17] institutions. Our demands are very simple,
[00:20:20] meaning we want seriousness in solving this remediation, seriousness
[00:20:24] and urgency, we want
[00:20:27] uh an extraordinary session of parliament
[00:20:30] to be convened as soon as possible, because if anything
[00:20:34] requires an extraordinary session of parliament, it is this
[00:20:38] situation. Ultimately, we want extraordinary elections, and for the citizens
[00:20:42] of Benkovac, the only important thing is to know what is here

[00:22:05] hazardous illegal waste landfill at Silos occurred
[00:22:08] by penetrating into groundwater, where in one sample
[00:22:12] of piezometer, twice the amount of that prescribed
[00:22:15] for human consumption was found, this, as you can see, does not mean
[00:22:18] that it is automatically in the potable water supply
[00:22:22] system, mm, but it is forgotten
[00:22:26] that the experts determined
[00:22:28] the transfer of contamination through two other media, one through
[00:22:31] the soil and one through, that is, particles
[00:22:34] of hazardous microplastics and dust
[00:22:38] containing toxic substances through the air
[00:22:41] which spreads up to 200 m, so contamination was found on
[00:22:45] surrounding plants and the contamination itself spread from the body
[00:22:49] of the landfill, completely contaminating another
[00:22:52] 50 m of soil around the landfill body and with
[00:22:56] a great danger that it will spread to another 200
[00:22:59] m, meaning we must
[00:23:02] prevent the establishment
[00:23:05] of PFAS in drinking water
[00:23:08] in water supply pipes for human
[00:23:11] consumption, you can see the seriousness of the situation due to
[00:23:15] the fact that after the publication of the expert opinion,
[00:23:18] the regional institute for... public health of Lika-Senj
[00:23:22] County immediately called on citizens
[00:23:25] to sample water from
[00:23:29] wells, or that they will sample it for their needs from wells
[00:23:33] and from all those other, that is,
[00:23:36] water sources that people use, whether they
[00:23:39] drink it, or whether they irrigate their fields
[00:23:42] and agricultural lands with it, or whether
[00:23:45] their animals drink the same water.
[00:23:49] Livestock, uh, meaning from wells, because it is
[00:23:53] clear that contamination of groundwater
[00:23:56] has occurred and this is actually an alarm to which
[00:24:00] the expert's findings and opinion point that remediation should start as soon as possible,
[00:24:03] because if it doesn't start, uh, we risk
[00:24:07] this contamination spreading further, then we never
[00:24:10] know where that groundwater contamination
[00:24:13] will end up in the karst soil, where these particles will
[00:24:17] end up, which animals will eat these
[00:24:21] already partially contaminated plants, and that is why
[00:24:24] for these reasons urgency is needed, meaning
[00:24:27] if one day, I hope we never determine that PFAS has entered
[00:24:31] drinking water, then the matter is over, meaning then it is too late
[00:24:34] and then we will no longer be able to remove all those consequences,
[00:24:38] that is actually the
[00:24:41] meaning of civil action in the city of Gospić

[00:25:04] all that to the parliamentary committee for environmental protection, where both
[00:25:08] the ruling party and the opposition will be at the same table,
[00:25:11] Minister Vučković and Minister Hrstić have announced their
[00:25:15] attendance. What exactly do you expect from that session, do you believe
[00:25:19] that you will find, let's call it, fertile ground with your
[00:25:22] demands that you have now presented?
[00:25:26] Well, I must say that unfortunately
[00:25:30] these data on the type and quantities
[00:25:33] of waste are precisely thanks to civic
[00:25:36] activism, specifically our initiative and all those citizens
[00:25:40] who support us, after a big protest in
[00:25:44] Gospić on June 27th announcements that we will
[00:25:47] undertake further civic actions, we were received
[00:25:51] for a meeting in the government which was led by Deputy Prime Minister
[00:25:54] Bačić, and in fact, only then did we receive waste analyses
[00:25:58] that date back to 2024,
[00:26:01] and we see that... at that time the chief state attorney also announced
[00:26:05] and confirmed what we have been saying for a year and a half since the initiative
[00:26:08] was founded, that in fact uh all findings of that
[00:26:12] waste, findings of opinions that are available must be available
[00:26:16] to the public because this is about a prevailing public
[00:26:19] interest, and we see in fact, uh,
[00:26:23] that without civic activism, we hear
[00:26:26] criticism from Benkovac that Gospić knows about its
[00:26:29] findings, but we don't. It's sad that
[00:26:32] so much effort by citizens has been put in to get something
[00:26:36] that according to the positive regulations of the Republic
[00:26:40] of Croatia, the public itself had the right to. Furthermore,
[00:26:43] we expect in fact that it will finally be understood
[00:26:47] that remediation in this area
[00:26:49] is urgent. I regret that we have lost over
[00:26:53] two years that the teaching institute for
[00:26:57] public health, in cooperation with the
[00:27:00] regional institute for public health of Lika-Senj
[00:27:03] County, has been regularly conducting monitoring
[00:27:06] since 2024
[00:27:10] uh for all dangerous compounds that have been identified here, because already in
[00:27:13] 2024, the findings of the teaching institute for public health Andrija Štampar, on the order
[00:27:17] of the State Inspectorate, knew what kind of hazardous
[00:27:21] waste it was, that it could endanger the health
[00:27:25] and lives of citizens, but nothing has been done until today.
[00:27:28] Isn't it sad that on the day when an extraordinary
[00:27:32] session of the government and the ruling
[00:27:35] majority is convened, only then
[00:27:38] does the Institute for Public Health suddenly provide
[00:27:41] water analysis. Uh, we do not want
[00:27:44] in the future for any analyses
[00:27:48] to be carried out as a means of remedying,
[00:27:51] conditionally speaking, political damage, but that in this
[00:27:54] area a permanent monitoring system be established for all
[00:27:58] sources of drinking water, that uh, all those heavy
[00:28:01] metals be tested for that the findings indicated
[00:28:05] were elevated, from several tens of times to
[00:28:09] even 700 times, for example, antimony, which we see is also soluble
[00:28:12] in water because it was found in the eluate sample, that
[00:28:16] regular analyses be performed
[00:28:19] on soil, on plants, and in fact, that we have
[00:28:22] continuous, incessant monitoring. Unfortunately, even one day when
[00:28:26] we hope that this waste will be removed as soon as
[00:28:29] possible, health safety
[00:28:32] and environmental protection will require
[00:28:36] a ten-year, twenty-year, maybe longer monitoring
[00:28:40] of harmful consequences, because as you know, PFAS compounds
[00:28:43] are PFAS compounds found in groundwater, heavy
[00:28:47] metals found in plants in the soil - which
[00:28:51] spread through the air, are actually difficult
[00:28:55] to eradicate, they are almost eternal, that's why they
[00:28:58] are called eternal chemicals, and in fact
[00:29:01] we will have to... uh constantly, so to speak, watch
[00:29:04] over our health safety and over
[00:29:07] environmental protection. What we have been warning about
[00:29:10] all this time is that those cases that are already
[00:29:14] known in Europe do not happen to us, they happened precisely
[00:29:18] because action was not taken in time, or rather, it was taken
[00:29:21] too late. One example is hazardous
[00:29:25] waste in the so-called triangle of death south of Naples, where
[00:29:29] serious health consequences only began to be discovered
[00:29:32] 10 to 15 years after that waste was disposed of, and we
[00:29:36] now have a recent example where for 20 years one of the richest
[00:29:40] European countries, Germany, in its Mittle
[00:29:43] Baden region has been struggling with dangerous PFAS compounds that have penetrated into groundwater
[00:29:47] which actually endanger health and life, and if Germany,
[00:29:50] with all its wealth and advanced technology, has not been able to solve
[00:29:54] this for 20 years, then we must
[00:29:57] understand the seriousness of our problem. The greatest value of Croatia,
[00:30:01] which we are all proud of, "that
[00:30:03] is beautiful nature, huge sources of drinking water
[00:30:07] of which Lika, I would say, leads, our beautiful
[00:30:10] sinking rivers Lika and Gacka which supply not only Lika but also
[00:30:14] the Croatian Littoral Pagerap, so we must preserve that,
[00:30:18] because we believe that is true patriotism and true
[00:30:22] responsibility towards the area in which we live. Unfortunately,
[00:30:25] this is not necessary, I call on everyone once again, do not reduce this
[00:30:29] to political squabbles, we will lose focus of
[00:30:32] the most important thing, which is the protection of health and life.
[00:30:36] Of course, that is the most important thing in this whole
[00:30:39] situation. I will touch on what you said, the systemic neglect
[00:30:43] you mentioned, you raised the whole
[00:30:47] case to a higher level, you submitted a petition to the European
[00:30:50] Parliament's committee, and here it is not a case of testing
[00:30:54] water and soil, but seven citizens of Gospić
