[00:00:19] Good afternoon, dear viewers, it's time for the news, these are the events of [00:00:22] the day. [00:00:26] The fires in the Trebinje area continue to burn, firefighters are being assisted by a helicopter [00:00:30] of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and [00:00:31] Herzegovina. [00:00:35] Continuation of the Donja Jablanica operation, the Federal Police Administration is seizing documents [00:00:38] from nine companies in four [00:00:40] cantons. [00:00:44] Tragedy in Pakistan, 14 babies died in a large fire that [00:00:48] broke out in a hospital due to a fault in the cooling [00:00:50] system. [00:00:55] In the Trebinje area, the fire is still active after about 50 [00:00:59] firefighters and locals managed to extinguish the fire in the villages of Kremeni [00:01:03] do and Željevo last night, the fire near Željevo has reactivated, said [00:01:06] Stevan Bekan from the Trebinje fire department. He says that the fire threatens to [00:01:10] spread towards the water reservoir of the city of Trebinje, as well as towards Bijela [00:01:14] Gora, where there is a tall forest. All available forces are on the ground, [00:01:17] the fire has been extinguished since this morning by a helicopter of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and [00:01:21] Herzegovina. During the day, the city's emergency headquarters will also meet [00:01:25] in Trebinje, where further steps will be discussed due to the fires with which they [00:01:28] have been fighting for days, because, as the firefighters emphasize, they are tired and at the [00:01:32] end of their strength. [00:01:36] What is the current situation, fortunately and with a great struggle by the members of [00:01:40] our units, last night we saved this part that threatened to [00:01:43] cross over to Gučina, so you saw in [00:01:47] the early evening and with the help of an air tractor and [00:01:50] with the help of a helicopter of the armed forces, for which we are very [00:01:53] grateful, and of course, after that, our infantry, as they say, had to [00:01:57] cross all that terrain. There were certainly [00:02:00] about twenty volunteers, and we thank them very [00:02:04] much for coming to help. It is guarded, [00:02:07] one branch goes towards Željevo, that poses a great danger to us, [00:02:11] this morning almost for four hours, the [00:02:14] helicopter of the armed forces was working, so we are fighting, the fire is approaching the road [00:02:18] down towards [00:02:19] Željevo. [00:02:22] In the territory of Serbia, several dozens of fires are active, according to the data [00:02:26] from the Ministry of Interior, a total of 35. The biggest challenges are still in Deliblatka. [00:02:30] Sands, although, as stated in the statement from the Ministry of Interior, all settlements in that [00:02:33] area have been defended. The authorities from the field state, however, that [00:02:37] the rain has significantly improved the situation, although firefighters, [00:02:40] volunteer societies, and citizens are constantly on duty there. [00:02:44] In the fire on the tables, the wind continues to cause problems for [00:02:47] firefighters, rescuers, and all teams on the ground. So far, [00:02:51] about 200 hectares have been affected by the fire. Russian helicopters from [00:02:54] the European Union are today extinguishing the fire in Deliblatka [00:02:57] Sands. you are definitely going through difficult [00:03:01] moments during this year with fires, that's why we came to [00:03:05] help as much as we can, we saw that almost half of [00:03:09] Deliblatka Sands burned and we know that this is not the only [00:03:13] fire. We also had several sorties around Niš in the south, [00:03:16] we have information that there are two more fires in other locations, [00:03:20] we have good communication with Serbian pilots and [00:03:24] we have information. Moreover, [00:03:26] there is a helicopter in the air that is making an assessment and according to that, it [00:03:30] coordinates our [00:03:32] efforts. [00:03:37] The request of the defense of war criminal Ratko Mladić for [00:03:40] early release from humanitarian reasons has been rejected again. The defense [00:03:43] requested Mladić to be transferred to a hospital or palliative [00:03:46] care facility in Serbia, citing his serious [00:03:50] health condition and the need for greater family presence. [00:03:53] According to the medical report, Mladić's condition is rapidly [00:03:56] deteriorating, he has, as stated, entered the final phase of his life. And [00:04:00] doctors estimate that death could occur in the coming [00:04:03] weeks. The president of the court concluded that humanitarian reasons [00:04:07] justify early release. Let's recall, Mladić was [00:04:10] finally sentenced in 2021 to life imprisonment for [00:04:14] genocide in Srebrenica, persecution of Bosniaks and Croats, terrorizing [00:04:18] citizens of Sarajevo, and taking UNPROFOR members [00:04:21] hostage. [00:04:25] The investigation continues in the Donja Jablanica case, which refers to [00:04:29] catastrophic floods and landslides from [00:04:31] October 2024, where the total number of victims [00:04:35] in the floods was 27 people. By order [00:04:38] of the special department of the Supreme Court of the Federation and under the supervision of the federal [00:04:41] prosecutor's office, members of the FUP are carrying out activities in [00:04:44] four cantons, namely Herzegovina-Neretva, [00:04:47] Zenica-Doboj, Tuzla, and Sarajevo canton. At the locations of [00:04:51] nine business entities, documents are being seized that could serve as [00:04:55] evidence in further investigation, announced the [00:04:58] FUP. [00:05:03] As part of the EUFOR Quick Response 2026 exercise, Italian [00:05:06] paratroopers today landed in the Polog area near [00:05:09] Mostar. An attractive scene from the air, part of a wider operation [00:05:13] that tests the ability to quickly arrive and deploy reserve [00:05:17] forces in our country. The exercise gathers military forces that arrive in our [00:05:21] country from different directions, and their task is to confirm EUFOR's readiness [00:05:24] for a quick reaction in case of need. Details [00:05:28] from Idena na Kaminić Puzi. [00:05:31] The sky above Polog near Mostar was today filled with Italian paratroopers [00:05:35] who jumped from planes as part of the large [00:05:39] EUFOR Quick Response 2026 operation. One after [00:05:42] another, Italian paratroopers left the plane, and after a few moments [00:05:46] above Polog, parachutes opened. These shots best [00:05:49] show what one part of the operation looks like, which is aimed at [00:05:53] rapid deployment and strengthening of EUFOR forces in [00:05:56] Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal of the exercise, as stated by EUFOR, is to [00:05:59] confirm the operational readiness of their forces and the ability [00:06:03] to react quickly and deploy additional forces in [00:06:06] the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina. [00:06:09] We had a platoon of paratroopers who [00:06:13] landed in this area from a plane that took off [00:06:16] from a military airport in Pisa, Italy, so only [00:06:20] a few hours ago we had this activity which we [00:06:24] successfully carried out, the plane took off from [00:06:26] Italy, came here to the area of Bosnia, Bosnia and [00:06:30] Herzegovina, it is a demonstration of our [00:06:33] capabilities that we can, therefore, in [00:06:35] in case of [00:06:38] need, very quickly engage forces that can [00:06:42] arrive here in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Exercise Quick Response [00:06:45] 2026 is being held from August 22nd to September [00:06:49] 3rd. It is an annual planned exercise by which EUFOR [00:06:52] checks and trains its ability to quickly [00:06:56] increase its presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For this purpose, [00:07:00] reserve forces from partner countries arrived in our country [00:07:03] through various routes, by land, sea, air, and [00:07:07] rail. Italian forces are part of that reserve reinforcement, [00:07:11] their arrival and today's parachute landing [00:07:14] show how important speed, precision, and coordination [00:07:18] are in a situation where it is necessary to quickly strengthen the presence of international [00:07:22] forces. Đenana Kaminić-Puce, N1, [00:07:25] Mostar. [00:07:28] Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine announced that emissions of solid [00:07:31] particles from Block 4 of the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant have been reduced to [00:07:35] within the design limits since this morning. The increase in emissions in previous days [00:07:38] was caused by technical problems in the ash transport system, they stated. [00:07:42] In previous days, hundreds of citizens gathered demanding urgent action [00:07:46] from the authorities. Elektroprivreda states that throughout the entire period they monitored [00:07:50] emissions, took necessary measures, and will continue to monitor the operation [00:07:53] of the plant. Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine states that from [00:07:57] 2024 until mid- this year, it invested [00:08:00] 180 million marks of its own funds in the maintenance [00:08:04] and overhaul of the Tuzla and Kakanj thermal power plants, reducing emissions and [00:08:07] complying with environmental standards. According to [00:08:10] their expectations, the deficit of electricity in the coming year [00:08:14] should be about 36 percent lower than this [00:08:17] year, with reduced dependence on [00:08:19] imports. [00:08:23] The anniversary of the biggest mining accident in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina [00:08:26] was marked today in Mramor near Tuzla with the presence of numerous officials and [00:08:30] citizens. On this day 36 years ago, in the Dobrnja Jug [00:08:33] mine, an explosion of coal dust occurred, killing [00:08:37] 180 miners. It was the youngest [00:08:40] shift of the then mine. The average age of the victims was only [00:08:44] 27 years. The only surviving miner, Smajil [00:08:47] Imamović, suffered serious injuries at the time, and carries the consequences of the accident [00:08:51] to this day. He spent five days in a state of clinical death, every [00:08:55] August he remembers his deceased [00:08:57] colleagues. That is my [00:09:01] toughest month of the [00:09:04] year, where emotions [00:09:07] for my comrades [00:09:11] and for myself, as well as for the families of my [00:09:14] fallen comrades, [00:09:16] bind me to deep, [00:09:20] deep feelings for [00:09:24] them, [00:09:25] sympathetic. [00:09:30] At least 14 newborns died when a fire broke out in a state hospital in [00:09:34] Pakistan, in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, caused by a malfunction in the [00:09:38] air conditioning system. One baby was [00:09:42] rescued. This is one of the fires with the most fatalities in the last [00:09:46] few years in that country, where state healthcare is [00:09:49] subsidized, but facilities lack sufficient resources and are overloaded. [00:09:53] Oversight bodies often criticize state institutions for [00:09:57] poor management. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the authorities [00:10:00] to conduct an urgent investigation. [00:10:12] The situation there was chaotic. This building is well-built. My wife is also the head [00:10:16] there, but that building had no proper arrangement. There was no proper fire security, no good exit [00:10:20] there, and they had closed the doors for us. They only opened one door [00:10:24] for the attendants. [00:10:29] The Strait of Hormuz remains closed, and Iran is now setting conditions for [00:10:33] its reopening. Tehran demands that the United States end [00:10:37] the war, lift the naval blockade, and resolve the situation in [00:10:40] Yemen. Iran and Oman are simultaneously negotiating a temporary [00:10:43] corridor through the Strait and its demining. However, Tehran [00:10:47] states that American and other military ships will not be [00:10:50] allowed passage. Hormuz usually handles about a fifth of the world's oil trade [00:10:54] in liquefied natural gas, so the blockade directly affects global [00:10:58] energy markets, while Washington announces new sanctions, Iran [00:11:01] states that it will respond to American pressure by striking at [00:11:05] their economic [00:11:06] interests. [00:11:09] What we have now almost agreed on is that the route for entering [00:11:13] the Persian Gulf from the Gulf of Oman will entirely [00:11:16] pass through the territorial waters of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The exit [00:11:20] route, that is, from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of [00:11:23] Oman, will partly pass through Iranian waters, and the remaining part [00:11:26] through the territorial waters of Oman. This represents [00:11:29] a fundamental change compared to the previous [00:11:31] solution. [00:11:38] During July and August, a cycle of nine concerts of Sevdah was held every Wednesday [00:11:42] in the unique ambiance of the National Monument of Bosnia and [00:11:45] Herzegovina, Svrzina kuća. Damir Imamović, one [00:11:49] of the most prominent contemporary interpreters of Sevdalinka, performed before [00:11:53] the audience, with special guest appearances by renowned musicians from our country, the region [00:11:56] and the world. By combining top-class music, cultural and historical heritage, and [00:12:00] an authentic Sarajevo atmosphere, the project enriched [00:12:03] the summer cultural offerings of the capital city and contributed to the affirmation of [00:12:07] Sevdalinka. [00:12:11] we were a little afraid if people would be interested, if we would bore them [00:12:15] again, right, if we would manage to reach the [00:12:18] guests of the city, who usually come, stay for two days or one [00:12:22] day, so will they make it to the concert, or not. [00:12:26] And I think we really succeeded again, maybe even [00:12:30] went a step further compared to last year in terms of the number of [00:12:33] guests, in terms of the number of mm audience [00:12:37] and what is, of course, the best thing is that this [00:12:40] year I had a different guest for every [00:12:43] concert. [00:12:46] from that idea to realization I have 18 total [00:12:49] concerts, more than 4,500 visitors, we record [00:12:53] in the Sarajevo Museum. [00:12:56] um, a greater public response, audience that comes, visitors [00:12:59] compared to previous years, and what [00:13:03] I can truly say with satisfaction is that this house has [00:13:06] come alive. [00:13:09] The music world has lost one of its biggest stars. Legendary [00:13:12] American country singer Dolly Parton passed away at the age of 80 [00:13:16] after a short battle with cancer. Dolly Parton left [00:13:20] behind an exceptional music career. She is considered [00:13:23] the best-selling female country artist of all time with more than [00:13:26] 160 million albums sold worldwide. She stepped onto the stage [00:13:30] with the album Hello Dolly in [00:13:33] 1967, and over the decades became [00:13:37] the author and performer of numerous timeless [00:13:39] hits. [00:13:43] Dolly is special, she is just that diamond [00:13:46] and [00:13:48] um just being local, feeling you [00:13:52] know where her magic and her spirit [00:13:55] started and you know continues to be with all of [00:13:59] us, everyone loves Dolly, and Dolly is [00:14:02] everywhere, and um, I feel like now, more than ever, she [00:14:06] is going to touch more hearts where [00:14:09] she is than when she was here on earth, I got the world part [00:14:13] a private collection of Dolly MBA of her [00:14:17] outfits and clothes and wigs and shoes and she comes and [00:14:20] tour it and everything, spent about the hours in the [00:14:24] house. [00:14:27] For the rest of the news, check out the weather forecast. [00:14:30] Warm greetings, dear viewers, we are counting the last days of August, [00:14:34] but summer is not giving up, it will still intensify in the coming days, temperatures [00:14:38] will go up to 40° in the continuation of the week, that's why the [00:14:41] Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued the highest red level [00:14:45] warning precisely for the heat. The atmosphere will stabilize in the coming [00:14:49] days as the anticyclone strengthens again, and we notice that the clouds [00:14:53] have also thinned out compared to the [00:14:56] morning hours, so the rest of the day will be mostly sunny [00:15:00] weather, the wind will remain mostly weak, only in the [00:15:04] northeast, north of Bosnia, a moderate [00:15:07] northwest wind will blow, all this together then of course creates the temperature picture, [00:15:11] we expect the warmest weather to be in the Herzegovina region up to [00:15:14] 36, 37, in Bosnia mostly from 26 to [00:15:17] 31, then in the coming days even warmer due to [00:15:21] the influx of very warm air from the southwest, on Friday we expect [00:15:25] temperatures up to 40, most likely precisely in [00:15:27] the Herzegovina region, then the weekend brings again [00:15:31] somewhat changeable, unstable weather, especially during Saturday, one should [00:15:35] expect rain and thunderstorms. [00:15:40] That's all for this news overview, stay tuned to N1, thank you for your attention, goodbye. [00:16:07] Health group: [00:16:18] the Council of Bosniak Intellectuals will, in the coming [00:16:22] period, promote the 12th edition of the Dictionary of the Bosnian [00:16:25] Language in several cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The multi-volume [00:16:29] Dictionary of the Bosnian Language is the most complex, the most intricate, [00:16:32] the most comprehensive scientific research, publishing, [00:16:36] lexicographical project being carried out in Bosnia and [00:16:39] Herzegovina, which refers to the fundamental element of the cultural [00:16:43] identity of Bosnian language speakers. On this occasion, our [00:16:47] guest Emir Zlatar, Secretary-General of VKBI. Good morning [00:16:50] and welcome. Good morning to you and the viewers. Um, in the coming [00:16:54] period, you have chosen several cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina [00:16:58] in which you will hold the promotion of the 12th volume of [00:17:00] the Dictionary of the Bosnian Language, from Zvornik, [00:17:04] Banja Luka, to Stolac, Mostar, Goražde. [00:17:07] What message are you sending by promoting [00:17:10] this national project in cities, in environments [00:17:14] where the issue of language is still being [00:17:17] politicized? Well, that is a political question, [00:17:20] so the attitude towards the language of a [00:17:24] people, so that does not essentially [00:17:27] concern or interest us, because language is a permanent category that is [00:17:31] present in every nation. Our obligation after [00:17:34] the team of experts who worked [00:17:38] on this project is to present it to [00:17:41] the widest possible audience, to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to the speakers of [00:17:45] the Bosnian language, first and foremost to the [00:17:48] Bosniaks for whom it is their native language. Yes, Academician Dževad [00:17:51] Jahić laid the foundations for this work. The 12th [00:17:55] volume is signed by Dr. Haris Ćatović [00:17:58] under the supervision of an eminent editorial board. How [00:18:02] did this sensitive, shall we say, [00:18:05] handover go, how challenging was it to [00:18:09] preserve the scientific level you had [00:18:12] from this 12th edition and [00:18:14] the methodology that Professor Jahić, if I'm not [00:18:18] mistaken, established back in 2001? Well, that [00:18:21] was a big challenge, as they say, or rather [00:18:25] a problem that we faced after [00:18:28] the death of Academician Jahić, which was how [00:18:32] to continue and when you look at [00:18:35] it chronologically, we practically had a break of about a year because [00:18:39] there was a uh a kind of, let's [00:18:42] say, fear of how to continue the [00:18:45] project, to maintain the methodology that [00:18:49] Jahić established, which was practically unique, because [00:18:52] this is the first project of this kind being done in the history of Bosnia [00:18:56] and Herzegovina, and usually in all countries in the [00:18:59] world, this is done by state academies, [00:19:03] lexicographical institutes, and so on. Since we don't have anything like that at [00:19:07] the state level, nor is there any prospect of something similar [00:19:10] being formed, then VKB took over that institutional [00:19:14] framework from the 7th volume. [00:19:17] The associate of the late Ahić was [00:19:21] Dr. Haris Čatović, who was also [00:19:24] his doctoral student, I believe, so [00:19:27] we decided in consultation with [00:19:31] prominent linguists and philologists, so the editorial [00:19:35] board you mentioned includes academician Kasnija Tuna [00:19:38] Tegić, Professor Turbić, Dr. [00:19:41] Jasmin Hodžić, Alenka Lajdžija, Professor Remzija Parić from [00:19:45] Zagreb. So, truly people who dedicated their entire [00:19:48] lives to linguistics, so we [00:19:51] then, in consultations, decided that [00:19:54] Haris should produce that 12th [00:19:58] volume, that he should do it, and that was a full [00:20:01] success. There were certain corrections and directions, [00:20:05] as that was the task of the editorial board. We got the 12th volume, and what is [00:20:09] most important, this project has now gained a future, [00:20:12] the methodology has been retained, [00:20:15] and we believe that by the end of this [00:20:19] project, that is, up to the 23rd volume, which is approximately the [00:20:22] estimate of how many dictionary volumes there will be, [00:20:26] this team will be retained, and what is very [00:20:29] important to point out is that the Institute for Language of the University [00:20:33] of Sarajevo, which we hope will, that is one of my [00:20:36] questions, will also get the prefix "Bosnian," that [00:20:40] they will, they are already the publishers from the 13th volume, that volume is [00:20:43] also in preparation, and that is [00:20:46] a big, big step forward for a public institution, that is, the most [00:20:50] representative one in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to include it, because after all, [00:20:53] VKB has the status of an association in Bosnia and Herzegovina, [00:20:56] that you have many plans [00:21:00] for digitalization and for other [00:21:04] projects within this, because [00:21:07] you often emphasize, this is not just an ordinary [00:21:10] dictionary, it combines that [00:21:13] encyclopedic, grammatical, etymological, [00:21:16] phraseological, and [00:21:19] onomastic handbook in one. [00:21:22] Can you explain to the viewers what that means in [00:21:26] practice, what kind of richness will we [00:21:29] have through this dictionary? [00:21:33] The importance of the dictionary, so we have over, I think, a hundred dictionaries of the Bosnian language, [00:21:37] and I learned that information from [00:21:40] people at the Institute for Language. So, that is a richness that has been going on for [00:21:44] more than two and a half to three centuries, from the first [00:21:47] dictionary by Uskufi from 1600 something until [00:21:50] today, the Bosnian-Turkish language, as it was called then. So, [00:21:54] over a hundred dictionaries, however, this kind of [00:21:57] dictionary uh is an unknown [00:22:01] fact that an individual embarked on such [00:22:04] a project. And its importance [00:22:08] is that it preserves, [00:22:10] presents, and practically serves for everyday [00:22:14] use in all segments of society, that is, in [00:22:18] education, in media, and in administration, [00:22:22] and for people who have the will and desire to improve [00:22:25] their expression or to define [00:22:28] a certain segment in what they do [00:22:32] and where language is necessary for them. So, [00:22:35] it preserves the complete history of the people of [00:22:39] Bosnia from its first written traces to [00:22:42] today. Its most significant feature, [00:22:46] as experts emphasize, is that it lists [00:22:49] hundreds of [00:22:52] writers of Bosnia and Herzegovina through examples of the words [00:22:56] used. That is the authenticity that we did not have [00:22:59] until now with these dictionaries that have been [00:23:03] published so far, and that multi-volume dictionary [00:23:06] uh presents the speakers of the Bosnian language in [00:23:10] a new dimension, not only in the countries of the region, but also in [00:23:13] Europe and the world, and this dictionary should find [00:23:17] its place in all Slavistics departments in the world, of which there are [00:23:20] 137. So, it is practically a written [00:23:23] history of the country of Bosnia, because everything that has been written [00:23:27] has been preserved through language. That is why language [00:23:30] is one of the fundamental identities of any nation, so in [00:23:33] this case, of Bosniaks who have that as their mother tongue, [00:23:37] although according to the 2013 census, [00:23:40] 50.1% of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina declared [00:23:44] themselves to be Bosniaks, in the section provided for language, [00:23:48] 54% declared. Which means that those [00:23:51] 3.9% of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who did not ethnically [00:23:55] declare themselves, these are [00:23:57] Bosnians, Serbs, Croats, or whatever [00:24:01] other way they declared themselves, their mother tongue is Bosnian. This actually [00:24:05] represents that integral component in Bosnia and [00:24:08] Herzegovina for anyone who feels Bosnia is their country, their [00:24:11] homeland, the foundation is language. Yes, [00:24:15] it contains a series of proofs of the existence [00:24:18] of the Bosnian language. Is that the best scientific answer [00:24:22] to those who deny the Bosnian language and its existence? So, [00:24:25] this denial of the language itself [00:24:28] is complete nonsense, it is, therefore, impossible. However, by denying [00:24:31] the Bosnian language, you deny the country, you deny the state. These are, in fact, [00:24:35] the goals of those who are trying to primitively [00:24:39] deny the existence of a language that, [00:24:42] according to writings [00:24:44] from the Middle Ages until today, is one of the oldest languages. So, [00:24:48] in scientific literature, you will see that, for example, Vuk [00:24:51] Karadžić, the restorer of the Serbian language, relied on and took [00:24:55] his basis from the areas of Bosnia, Hum lands, as the foundation [00:24:59] of his dictionary, not "rečnik" as our [00:25:02] neighbors say today. So, [00:25:05] it is quite clear that the Bosnian language was, in fact, [00:25:09] that center of South Slavic languages, and in the end, [00:25:12] all linguists at the [00:25:15] beginning of conceptualizing the Croatian language used [00:25:18] Bosnia as a basis, and the purest form of that language was spoken [00:25:22] in that Štokavian dialect, and therefore, these are [00:25:25] clear facts, however, language is, of course, also a means. [00:25:29] for political manipulations, so we even had a situation [00:25:32] where a Novi Sad convention in the 60s, when [00:25:36] the Serbo-Croatian language was introduced in Yugoslavia, I mean [00:25:39] the language itself should not create a barrier [00:25:43] between peoples or speakers, it should actually [00:25:46] represent the culture and history of a... [00:25:50] people, and that's like a flower in a garden [00:25:53] of diversity in this world that has its own scent, its own [00:25:56] color, and practically it beautifies that garden, language cannot be the one that [00:26:00] will create obstacles, barriers or... supervision among people. [00:26:03] Yes, uh, you mentioned that the Institute for Language [00:26:07] of the University of Sarajevo is included [00:26:10] in the project. How important is that to you for the stability of this project, [00:26:13] given that there are still 11 volumes ahead of you and about ten years [00:26:17] of work on them? Well, the most significant fact lies [00:26:20] in the fact that the institute has gathered, [00:26:22] uh, people, that it is a public institution, [00:26:26] where all the experts in that field are gathered as scientific [00:26:30] research associates with... advisors, uh, in [00:26:34] that institution. What uh we expect in [00:26:38] the coming period is that this [00:26:41] oldest institute dealing with language issues will get that [00:26:45] prefix "Bosnian", but that it will be a center not only for [00:26:48] other faculties, universities in Bosnia and [00:26:51] Herzegovina, but throughout the region, because you have speakers of Bosnian language [00:26:55] or Bosniaks in Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, [00:26:59] Slovenia, Austria, diaspora, [00:27:03] America, Europe and so on, and they have [00:27:06] a need, especially through the educational system when studying [00:27:09] a language, to have some fundamental elements, i.e. grammar, [00:27:13] orthography, dictionary. Who is in charge from Bosnia and [00:27:16] Herzegovina to provide these people [00:27:19] with what we would call some standardization? These are [00:27:23] indeed institutes like ours, however, the constitutional and legal [00:27:27] arrangement of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where these [00:27:30] competencies are at the cantonal level, has completely destroyed [00:27:33] the educational system, then these scientific research [00:27:36] institutions, in this way, still have a public [00:27:40] seal, so for this dictionary, just as we have [00:27:43] a monumental project published [00:27:46] by the Institute for History, also of the University of Sarajevo, [00:27:49] which is the first written multi-volume history of Bosnia in six [00:27:53] volumes, so there were no new researches, but [00:27:56] a sublimation of all those researches in the previous 40 [00:28:00] years, uh, unfortunately... "people who [00:28:03] manage institutions at all levels of government either [00:28:07] do not know or do not want to know the significance [00:28:10] of these monumental projects, because that actually represents our [00:28:14] country. What is their significance [00:28:16] on the international [00:28:19] stage? Well, that's probably undisputed, they probably [00:28:23] don't know, so let's see. Take Hasan Ginac, for example, I don't know [00:28:26] the writing of perhaps the greatest [00:28:29] writer of that period GT on that one." which [00:28:32] therefore, uh, determines the identity of an entire [00:28:36] people and presents it in the most beautiful and best way, or take Sidran [00:28:40] Ibrišimović, so all those writers, Dizdar, Selimović and so [00:28:44] on. That is the fundamental culture of a people, that is, [00:28:47] what is expressed through language, what we inherited from our [00:28:51] fathers, grandfathers, ancestors and so on. Mm, unfortunately, [00:28:55] realpolitik almost doesn't [00:28:57] recognize that, which is a defeat for society, because, uh, [00:29:01] with these... "economic parameters, military and so [00:29:05] on, those are some rules that are dictated by the big ones, but [00:29:09] small countries, small countries, small [00:29:12] states, those that have such a rich culture as Bosnia, and which has, after all, [00:29:16] shown not only through these segments [00:29:19] of culture, but also through many others, that there is such a [00:29:22] richness that should be presented [00:29:26] to all those who know almost nothing about us, [00:29:29] know very little, because we saw in the period of aggression..." what [00:29:33] was the position or setup towards Bosnia, that that people [00:29:36] was reduced to some religious component, in fact [00:29:40] that national or national [00:29:43] identity, faith is there in the segment of a [00:29:46] traditional value, we have today in Bosnia and Herzegovina [00:29:50] a law on religious communities and churches, that's what it's called, so those religious questions [00:29:54] are defined and what we noticed [00:29:57] through the promotion of this [00:30:00] dictionary, this monumental work and through our... forums [00:30:03] with a large number of professors and academics from the fields of social [00:30:06] and humanities sciences that citizens actually, there is a [00:30:10] confusion in that context what is a Bosniak, what is a Bosnian, what is [00:30:14] a Muslim, which is not surprising because practically [00:30:17] the name of the people and its language was suspended for 200 years [00:30:20] in the areas of Bosnia and former Yugoslavia. Now everything [00:30:24] needs to be presented, but based on scientific [00:30:27] methodologies, based on documents, facts, to the public so that [00:30:30] then in some phase it comes into school systems. Our guest was [00:30:34] Emir Zlatar, Secretary General of the Council of the Congress of Bosniak Intellectuals. [00:30:38] vijeća Kongresa Bošnjačkih Intelektualac. [00:30:52] We will return soon to current topics and guests. Friend [00:30:56] of the show General Hospital Medicana Sarajevo.
