[00:13:14] the operation, 243 Croatian defenders were killed,
[00:13:18] 1,430 were wounded, while two
[00:13:21] are still considered missing.
[00:13:30] And the military-police operation Storm began on August 4
[00:13:33] and lasted until August 7, 1995.

[00:13:42] Knin, where the 31st anniversary of

[00:14:46] in Knin, while the 31st anniversary of the Storm was commemorated.
[00:14:49] Among those gathered were defenders, members of their
[00:14:53] families, and citizens from all parts of
[00:14:55] Croatia, for the first time since the Storm. While I was in the Storm, he was
[00:14:58] a participant in the Storm. Yes, I was a driver, I drove soldiers,
[00:15:02] ammunition, I am very proud of that, I was glad
[00:15:05] to be there, it makes me happy. In my heart
[00:15:08] today there is great pride, my dad was also
[00:15:12] uh in the Homeland War on the front lines

[00:17:56] Gordan Jandroković, and President
[00:18:00] Zoran Milanović had the opportunity to speak. What we can say is that
[00:18:04] all three were united in one thing, that the military-police operation
[00:18:08] Storm was a legitimate, just, liberating
[00:18:11] operation that had to be carried out so that we could have the state we
[00:18:15] have today, and that no revisionism can hide that
[00:18:18] fact, no matter how much some people want to. They mostly
[00:18:21] emphasized, therefore, our neighbors Serbs, but some
[00:18:25] here in the Republic of Croatia say that they
[00:18:29] will not succeed. Prime Minister Andrej Plenković in his speech
[00:18:32] decided to use the opportunity to say that
[00:18:35] there will be amendments in autumn. of the law, specifically regarding
[00:18:39] the increase of veterans' pensions, and what
[00:18:42] President Zoran Milanović emphasized in his speech
[00:18:46] is that it was a city war, so
[00:18:50] he again, as in most of his speeches, referred to
[00:18:53] Bosnia and Herzegovina, saying that the military-police operation also
[00:18:57] significantly influenced the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that we should
[00:19:00] think about them, so that two countries were actually liberated

[00:20:02] just and legitimate liberation action.
[00:20:05] The final critical blow that
[00:20:07] Croatian soldiers and police used to break Greater Serbian
[00:20:10] aggression, which liberated most of the temporarily
[00:20:14] occupied Croatian territory and widely
[00:20:17] opened the way to the end of the Homeland War. There is
[00:20:20] no revisionism that can dispute that historical
[00:20:23] fact, no matter how much some try, in our
[00:20:27] neighborhood, but unfortunately in
[00:20:29] Croatia.

[00:20:46] interests oblige us to look at ourselves, to
[00:20:50] be loyal to others, decent, if possible,

[00:21:04] Croatia, and when we celebrate Victory

[00:21:17] in Knin, but Knin was not really
[00:21:21] the heart of the rebellion against the Croatian state and the right of the Croatian people
[00:21:24] to have their own national state within its internationally
[00:21:28] recognized borders. That rebellion came from Belgrade and today
[00:21:31] when in recent days and years and all the time
[00:21:35] we hear the same nonsense, some will say
[00:21:38] revisionism of history. Croatia is the only country in the
[00:21:42] European Union and NATO at the moment,
[00:21:45] whose army is led by people who were young men
[00:21:48] 30 years ago with serious, unprecedented,
[00:21:52] now then military, war experience
[00:21:55] in Calais in real combat, no
[00:21:59] chief of general staff of any NATO
[00:22:01] country has led a battalion in
[00:22:05] an attack, every major knows what a battalion in an attack means
[00:22:08] in a combat exercise, let alone in real wartime circumstances, our
[00:22:12] chief of general staff Tihomir Kundid is and he
[00:22:15] is the only one like that in the European Union and NATO and among

[00:22:26] Operation Storm was a brilliant military victory,
[00:22:29] a legitimate liberation operation, and the crown
[00:22:33] of Croatia's fight for freedom. Under the leadership
[00:22:36] of the first Croatian president, Dr. Franjo Tuđman,
[00:22:39] Croatian veterans, soldiers, and police officers in just
[00:22:43] a few days liberated most of the occupied territory
[00:22:47] and enabled the return of exiles to their
[00:22:50] homes. Operation Storm saved Bihać from
[00:22:54] a threatening humanitarian catastrophe, changed
[00:22:57] the balance of power in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and opened
[00:23:00] the way to peace and the Dayton Agreement. For
[00:23:04] Croatia, after Operation Storm, the successful
[00:23:07] and peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danube region
[00:23:11] was also carried out, by which Croatia completed
[00:23:15] the process of its territorial integrity
[00:23:18] and the return of temporarily framed areas into the constitutional and legal order
[00:23:22] of the country. These historical

[00:23:52] Kundid. The relationship between the Prime Minister and the President has long been strained even without that,

[00:29:07] about changes, every year we introduce some
[00:29:10] changes, just so that the program isn't the same, this year there were
[00:29:14] some programs and changes in our city
[00:29:17] program, for example, we introduced a new, a new thing that
[00:29:21] we plan to uh make a tradition
[00:29:24] for the future, namely a festival of children's patriotic
[00:29:28] songs, it was very well attended, very
[00:29:31] positive reactions were... there and that was two days before the storm itself,
[00:29:34] now it was on Monday mm on the
[00:29:38] day of commemoration August 5th, the whole
[00:29:42] program revolves around one point, and that is 9:43
[00:29:45] minutes when in 1995,
[00:29:48] exactly on August 5th, the flag, the Croatian flag, was raised
[00:29:52] on the Knin fortress, and the whole program always revolves
[00:29:56] around that point, we never move that one, but
[00:29:59] other things can be moved around it. This year
[00:30:03] the mass was held earlier before the main event, so
[00:30:07] we can say, well, that caused some
[00:30:10] as far as I see positive reactions, especially in the veteran
[00:30:13] population, because it was a more decent time before
[00:30:17] the great heat when the mass was held, so that when
[00:30:20] it is practically easier to breathe, mornings are much cooler, I have to
[00:30:23] ask you, you have been mayor for two terms
[00:30:26] in a row, before that you were also deputy
[00:30:29] mayor, you have been here for many years, and Serbs
[00:30:33] here have been living in coexistence for many
[00:30:37] both Croats and Serbs are your citizens, how do you view these messages coming
[00:30:40] from Serbia, specifically from Aleksandar Vučić who absolutely refuses
[00:30:44] to acknowledge this storm? Well, I think he does that
[00:30:48] because of his political situation there in Serbia, every
[00:30:51] year we witness such statements, they
[00:30:55] don't benefit us at all, they bring no benefit, but also
[00:30:59] no harm.
