[00:12:48] like UPI and RuPay debit cards. But when this bill becomes law,
[00:12:51] the government will get the right to remove this prohibition. This will allow the government to decide
[00:12:55] which electronic payment methods will not be charged
[00:12:59] and on which MDR can be applied.
[00:13:02] Actually, until now, any decision regarding MDR was made by law,
[00:13:06] but now the government can make a decision by issuing a notification.
[00:13:09] After that, the biggest question that will come to your mind
[00:13:12] is whether buying goods with UPI payments
[00:13:15] will become expensive. So there are two answers to this.
[00:13:19] First, the MDR will not be automatically applied as soon as the bill becomes law.
[00:13:22] The law will give the government the right to decide when and
[00:13:26] how to start MDR. Second, if MDR
[00:13:29] is implemented in the future, it is highly likely that a special transaction limit
[00:13:33] may be set for it. According to several reports
[00:13:36] that are coming out now, this limit could be 2000 rupees.
[00:13:39] This means that if you make a payment of less than 2000
[00:13:43] to any merchant, you will not have to pay
[00:13:47] any extra charge. We all know that everyday
[00:13:51] small expenses are usually below the 2000 limit.
