[00:00:00] trusted manager on the outbound side, and if the US and [00:00:03] its partners quietly help oversee [00:00:06] of implementation, I can [00:00:08] of imagine a temporary arrangement that restores traffic and gives everybody [00:00:11] enough time to negotiate something [00:00:14] of more durable, but there's a strategic downside here, [00:00:18] if the deal is written [00:00:19] in a way that effectively ratifies Iran's authority to [00:00:22] control skipping, then [00:00:25] in you're edging away from the traditional [00:00:28] in idea of an open international... waterway and toward a more [00:00:31] Iran centric maritime regime and for [00:00:35] Washington that's that's a red line, any temporary [00:00:39] of fix has to be framed this crisis management, not a [00:00:43] of permanent transfer of power to Iran where Iran [00:00:47] basically gets to in the future what happens in [00:00:51] the straight of horms in terms [00:00:53] of the ships going through right [00:00:56] now much [00:00:58] of diminished from the normal pattern on. on the [00:01:01] of US side, sam is pretty clear, the southern [00:01:05] of route running through Omani Waters is open, and [00:01:10] a of American forces have helped more than a thousand vessels transit that corridor over the [00:01:14] past the months, that's Washington's way of saying, this [00:01:18] remains an international waterway, we're still [00:01:20] guaranteing freedom of navigation, on the Iranian [00:01:24] side, the revolutionary guard is used the war to rewrite the [00:01:27] rules, tanker traffic has... collapse from [00:01:31] 130, 140 ships a day to [00:01:34] a tiny fraction of that now, many [00:01:36] of the vessels that do move are [00:01:38] of operating under government to government arrangements or [00:01:41] ad-hawk deals with Iranian [00:01:44] authorities. tiran insists that any route not [00:01:48] explicitly approved by Iran is illegitimate, and it [00:01:51] backs that [00:01:52] of claim with checkpoints, with vetting with selective harassment by its [00:01:56] forces. so who controls Hormus today? [00:02:00] legally, the straight is governed by international [00:02:03] of law and shared Omani Iranian territorial [00:02:07] seas. Practically, Iran has successfully [00:02:11] leveraged its geography and naval presence to become a [00:02:14] gatekeeper, while the US and its partners keep a southern [00:02:17] of lifeline open and try to prevent that gate keeper [00:02:21] role from hardening into something like permanent sovereignty [00:02:25] over [00:02:43] describes its talks with Oman as positive, but it insists that they have [00:02:47] nothing to do with the United States. Is theran genuinely refusing direct [00:02:50] engagement with the US or is Oman [00:02:53] of quietly calling messages between both the sides? Also Iran says an agreement with [00:02:57] Oman would not automatically reopen Hormus. that US violations [00:03:01] must first end, what specific American action would Tehran need [00:03:05] to see [00:03:05] of before it allows normal shipping to resume in this [00:03:08] of area? well, what Iranians i'm [00:03:11] assuming would need to see is for the United [00:03:15] States to honor the [00:03:17] of contracts of that they sign, and as I mentioned earlier, they're [00:03:21] not very good at that, obviously they cancelled the JCPO, and [00:03:25] now they [00:03:26] of entered very hardly, [00:03:30] of in a very, very of hurried matter, they entered into an mou back in June 17th and one [00:03:34] of the articles, I think is article number four or number five does [00:03:38] talk about Iran having some sense of control or being [00:03:42] allowed to charge some sort [00:03:43] of of a fee that your other guess just mention also for [00:03:47] in environmental in for pilotage and so [00:03:49] on so on and so forth services so in [00:03:52] of that aspect Iran uh for all intents [00:03:56] and [00:03:56] of purposes not approving what it does domestically but internash. [00:04:00] it appears that [00:04:02] it is following with what the negotiations led to, which is the [00:04:06] Islamabad mou. going back to whether or not Oman [00:04:09] is playing an active role in [00:04:12] diplomacy [00:04:14] of or in indirect diplomacy between Iran and the United States, I would [00:04:17] of be surprised if that were the case, because that was happening also [00:04:21] in [00:04:22] of secret during the [00:04:23] of George W. Bush [00:04:25] of administration and Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad administration, [00:04:29] several. years ago, so in that aspect, [00:04:33] of Oman, I'm assuming is doing that, and at the same [00:04:36] time, United States, because of [00:04:40] its behavior and because [00:04:42] of the way it supports the state of Israel, cannot [00:04:46] be an ultimate partner for Iran, those people [00:04:49] who are basically doing the negotiation [00:04:53] of on of the Iranian part know that, so they have to be very quiet, very, [00:04:56] very careful about this, and that's why you... don't see an [00:05:00] advertisement that we are dealing with the United States again. One [00:05:04] of the things, before I finish, one [00:05:05] of the things that mentioned time and [00:05:09] again and it has proven historically to be true. is that [00:05:13] he uh warned everyone that they have to be very careful how they deal [00:05:17] with the United States, because the United States essentially doesn't [00:05:20] respect its own signature when it's a piece of [00:05:24] paper, let alone ideologically, it's a colonial [00:05:28] power that wants to bring the whole middle east under its [00:05:31] control, and the Iranian revolution in essence in [00:05:34] 1979 stands to make sure that that doesn't [00:05:37] happen, so we are truly again a historic [00:05:41] period, where by huge miscalculation [00:05:45] by United States and Israel on February [00:05:48] 28th by attacking Iran and by seeing the [00:05:52] kind of defense that Iran has, as we say the cat is out the [00:05:56] bag and putting that genie in the bottle, it's going to be extremely different, so [00:06:00] United States might have to come up with some [00:06:04] sort of a unbelievable reality [00:06:07] that it needs to face and that is accepting Iran as a [00:06:11] local. superpower that has proven to [00:06:15] be able to be quite violent against his own neighbors to [00:06:19] realities that need to be face and the genie that is out the bottle. these [00:06:23] are of course statements that you've made and of course we see we will [00:06:26] see how that goes as far as this conflict is [00:06:45] Seven years after India's illegal actions of August 5, [00:06:48] 2019, the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir [00:06:52] remains under military siege. New Delhi may have scrapped articles 370 and [00:06:56] 35A, but it cannot eraice Kashmiri identity, nor can it extinguish [00:07:00] the right to self determination. Pakistan stands firmly with the Kashmiris on [00:07:04] the other side the border, and the world must finally move beyond empty statements [00:07:08] and hold India accountable as far [00:07:24] us to sir, thank you very much to have joined us, sir, seven years after [00:07:27] India revoked articles 370 and 35A, why has the [00:07:31] international community failed to confront an action that [00:07:35] has violated united nations resolutions and has attempted to change the [00:07:39] status of a disputed territory. [00:07:57] of Jammu and Kashmir was to be resolved back in the 1950s when [00:08:00] the United Nations Security Council mandated a plebiscite to [00:08:04] be held under the supervision the United Nations, and from that [00:08:08] point till August the 5th, 2019, there has been no [00:08:12] action, no meaningful action and the reason is not the [00:08:15] international community, the reason is India's [00:08:18] intrancigence and [00:08:20] obduracy, the state of [00:08:24] Pakistan was ready for a plebissit, so over the people of Jammu and [00:08:27] Kashmir, and the United Nations at that time had [00:08:31] made elaborate preparations, but India [00:08:34] first included this this illegal [00:08:38] article in its constitution in violation the United Nations Security. [00:08:42] council resolution, the article called article [00:08:45] 370, it was hoke, as matter of fact, it were, it gave [00:08:49] some conditional autonomy to the [00:08:53] state of Jammu and Kashmir, to the occupied part the Jammu and [00:08:57] Kashmir, and then [00:08:59] appointed a president and a prime minister [00:09:02] and gave separate constitution to the [00:09:06] territory, but then it resorted to what you would call [00:09:09] colonialism, naked colonialism or settle. colonialism [00:09:13] and when this article out [00:09:17] 370 was resinded in 2019 it [00:09:21] was already an empty shell [00:09:24] and all the powers the legislative assembly [00:09:28] of Jammu and Kashmir had been [00:09:31] robbed and the writ [00:09:35] the the federation was complete there and therefore [00:09:39] they dismantle the autonomous structure that was the semi [00:09:43] autonomous or qu autonomous structure that was [00:09:45] there, but your question is different, why [00:09:49] has the international community failed to take notice, [00:09:52] as matter of fact, if you would go back to 2019, there was [00:09:55] a ground swell of support for [00:09:59] the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the international media at that [00:10:02] time supported the people of Jammu [00:10:06] and Kashmir, also think tanks, human rights organizations, they [00:10:10] called out India for its egregous violations of [00:10:13] human rights and international law and [00:10:16] everybody was surprised by [00:10:19] this step that India had taken by [00:10:22] occupying the already occupied [00:10:25] territory and setting in motion [00:10:29] pervasive lockdown and the media block out [00:10:33] and then people were almost starved to death, there were [00:10:37] enforced disappearances, young men [00:10:41] and women, particularly young men and the boys in [00:10:45] their teams were imprisoned and sent to the most [00:10:48] notorious prison houses in India in different parts [00:10:52] of India so ' [00:10:55] but at that time I recall that Pakistan had taken up [00:10:59] this issue at the Security Council and there was [00:11:03] support for Pakistan stance and there was [00:11:06] concern that this move by India could [00:11:10] prove to be catastrophic because Pakistan and India are two [00:11:14] nuclear weapon states and any war, any clash between them could [00:11:18] escalate to the nuclear level, at that time China stood by [00:11:21] Pakistan and then of course I and the other [00:11:25] veto wielding pass, particularly the United States, United [00:11:29] Kingdom and France did not support any action on the [00:11:33] reference made by Pakistan, because we wanted resolution or statement coming [00:11:37] out of Security Council deliberations. You must [00:11:41] also remember that in 2019 President [00:11:44] Trump before August 5 had offered [00:11:48] mediation which was rejected by India, Narendra Modi, prime minister of India [00:11:52] rejected it, but even last year after [00:11:55] Mark and there were many human rights violations which were committed [00:11:59] by Indian forces, immediately after the balgam [00:12:02] incident, they incarcerated many young men, [00:12:06] they demolished their businesses, their houses [00:12:09] and so there was [00:12:13] again this draconian [00:12:17] actions that were [00:12:19] taken, and what I'm pointing out [00:12:23] here is that in october last year, five [00:12:27] special rapporteurs comment commented on [00:12:31] those depredations and those actions, illicit actions taken by India, they said that [00:12:35] they were in violation of international law, international humanitarian [00:12:38] law, and they designated them as crimes, crimes against [00:12:42] humanity, all those incarcerations, torture and [00:12:46] killings, but they said something more profound, and I [00:12:50] want to share it with you, they said that India's [00:12:54] allegation that Pakistan was involved [00:12:57] in the pahalkham incident were not [00:13:01] table and it also said [00:13:04] that India's decision to attack [00:13:07] Pakistan on the 6th of May or [00:13:11] the night of sixth and 7th May was also illegal [00:13:14] ilisit because India could not hide itself [00:13:18] behind its it's reasoning or argument that it was [00:13:22] doing so in ' self [00:13:25] defense, because if it was self defense, it would have invoked article [00:13:29] 51 the charter and would have intimated the United [00:13:33] Nations Security Council about his intent to attack [00:13:37] Pakistan, so I would say that these are [00:13:40] two indictments against India given by United Nations [00:13:44] special reporteurs and they have not been widely [00:13:48] circulated, but [00:13:51] well the evidence is there, butud sah, what you trying to say is that... th [00:13:55] these reports have given the evidence as to where the situation is, as far [00:13:59] as the Indian Hill Valley is concerned. now Masud Sab, [00:14:03] India has issued domicile rights to outsiders, it has facilitated land [00:14:06] acquisition and has tried to weaken Kashmir's Muslim [00:14:10] majority identity, could this demographic engineering eventually make a [00:14:14] just settlement far more difficult for the people the occupied [00:14:18] valley? you the agenda is the agenda [00:14:21] the BJP and Russia swayam sevak sang is to... [00:14:25] amalgamate the people of Jammu and Kashmir, [00:14:29] occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the territory [00:14:32] itself in the Indian federation, they have [00:14:36] so far failed to amalgamate artificially this state [00:14:40] into the federation, so this is backed [00:14:44] by the Hindutva doctrine, they want saffronize the [00:14:48] whole of India, in fact the whole the subcontinent, and they would not [00:14:52] succeed because Kashmir has... majority [00:14:56] population is Muslims, you have 68% [00:14:59] today, but in back in 1947 the population [00:15:03] of Muslims ranged between 80 to [00:15:06] 85%, so I think that [00:15:10] this should not make the [00:15:13] movement for the realization [00:15:17] the right to self determination the people of Jammu and [00:15:19] Kashmir kind [00:15:23] of... an unattainable [00:15:26] objective, so I would say, I would argue that you [00:15:30] know this is a forced union, this is an legal union, this is against [00:15:34] the law of nature, had there been... [00:15:37] natural complementarity between the people of [00:15:41] Jammu and Kashmir and India, then they would not deploy three [00:15:45] cores and one million security [00:15:48] forces in this territory, because they perceive it to be enemy [00:15:52] territory, otherwise you do not concentrate [00:15:55] such large, [00:15:59] large scale operative operational forces a [00:16:03] territory like that. Let me also point out that you would... [00:16:07] recall that after Mark president Trump in his truth social [00:16:10] post [00:16:11] had suggested to [00:16:15] India and Pakistan to meet on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir because everybody [00:16:19] realized at that time that this was nuclear flash point not [00:16:23] only for South Asia but for the entire world and then [00:16:27] this secretary Rubio had suggested to Pakistan that Pakistan [00:16:31] and India that they should meet in a third country Pakistan is ready for any form of [00:16:34] diplomacy whether it is bilateral whether it is to third party [00:16:38] mediation or whether it is through the United Nations, the [00:16:42] agency the United Nations or a group of countries, but I think that we must [00:16:46] move to the negotiating table and must engage each other and the [00:16:50] international community important sir, that is extremely [00:16:53] important, any kind of process that could lead to the [00:16:57] plebit in the Indian Hill Valley and the people finally deciding for themselves as to what [00:17:01] they want in the Indian Hill Valley is what is extremely important, that is [00:17:17] Thank you very much Dr. Gilani to have joined us. India claims its August [00:17:20] 2019 actions brought development and normally yet [00:17:24] Kashmiris still face militarization, arrests, media [00:17:27] restrictions and political repression. What is the reality behind New Delhi's [00:17:31] carefully promoted [00:17:52] let me put out some facts to you, one the most major [00:17:56] important branding factor is the economics [00:17:59] and the economics the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and [00:18:03] Kashmir post 2019 immediate [00:18:06] after the... propagation of both the articles, the Kashmiri [00:18:09] economy suffered more than two billion dollar loss, [00:18:13] that was just because after the blanket curfew that India laid [00:18:17] upon the total valley, both Kashmir and [00:18:20] Jammu. Not only that, we must also [00:18:23] consider the trumpet that was beaten by India about [00:18:27] employment, about development, but today the fast and figure [00:18:31] say that Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir [00:18:34] places around 21 [00:18:36] to 22%. unemployment, which is by [00:18:40] far the greatest number or the larger number as [00:18:43] compared to the mainland Indian dominion. so when we talk [00:18:47] about development, when we talk about employment and the opportunities, we [00:18:51] must also consider the domiciles that the Indian authorities are [00:18:55] handing over to anyone who has spent five years or 10 years in [00:18:59] Kashmir making them or labeling them as far as the documentation [00:19:03] is concerned as kashmiris, [00:19:05] so they get the opportunities now as comp to the Kashmiri who is [00:19:09] actually living inside Jammu and Kashmir as compared to [00:19:12] kashmiri who has been there for generations and who [00:19:16] is a true kashmiri in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and [00:19:20] Kashmir so the educational opportunities that were reserved [00:19:24] only for the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and [00:19:27] Kashmir are now being handed over in the plate [00:19:31] Biharis to non kashmiris to people from the [00:19:34] mainland Indian dominion and lastly I was mention the [00:19:38] household and the land grab that has [00:19:41] been impassioned by the NIA and the SIA [00:19:44] lately, the land, the properties and the houses [00:19:48] of Kashmiri is living there since decades have been [00:19:52] essentially used by NIA and we are being [00:19:55] handed over to [00:19:57] non-resident Hindu, [00:20:01] Hindus and Hindutva guns, they are being [00:20:04] facilitated and encouraged to return back. to [00:20:07] kashmir and in fact harbor the houses [00:20:11] in which the kashmiris had been living. this is [00:20:15] a question that i have asked recently as well, but i want your opinion on that, dr. [00:20:19] gilani. faruok abdullah questions why killings continue if India [00:20:23] has eliminated militancy and sealed the border borders and why such incidents [00:20:27] coincide with demands for statehood. he has also questioned [00:20:31] why violent incidents occur whenever demands for restoring indian [00:20:35] illegally occupied jammu and kashmir statehood. momentum, do his remarks [00:20:39] expose serious contradictions in the Modi government's claims of any kind of normalcy in the [00:20:43] region? absolutely, [00:20:46] absolutely, and it's not just, I must say, in [00:20:50] fact with the whole opposition, the whole, in fact even [00:20:54] fark abdullah or mufti, both i as [00:20:56] them consider the puppets the delhi delhi [00:21:00] sarkar, but lately we have seen that [00:21:03] both these faruk abdullah or abdullah and the family [00:21:07] ofti, her daughter mufti have been speaking a little [00:21:11] bit truth about what's going on on the ground, and we [00:21:15] have seen that the people over there have come out on the [00:21:19] roads. previously for even the civic rights as well, that [00:21:23] is for electric meters, that is for the [00:21:26] encouragement drive, that is for the overflow the water [00:21:30] canals that are running through Sirinagar, the mainland [00:21:33] city, so we must understand the fact that [00:21:37] whenever the people come out on the road, India has to give something, [00:21:41] India has to do something to show that, oh no, Kashmir is [00:21:45] integral part of India and so the people need to be taken care of, and [00:21:49] how does India take care of it by [00:21:51] essentially dismantling the [00:21:55] barkarwals, by essentially dismantling the kashmiris [00:21:58] living on their properties in Sirinagar and [00:22:02] on the mountains by essentially doing [00:22:06] false flag operations so that the people would be diverted [00:22:09] towards something else and this is where India gains this [00:22:13] momentum that oh no Pakistan is at the back [00:22:17] of each and every miscreation that is taking place. inside [00:22:21] the India illegally occupied German and Kashmir and therefore Indian forces need [00:22:25] to be there for the so-called protection the [00:22:28] people living inside the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. [00:22:32] Dr. Dr. Gilani, I'd like one last answer because we b short of time and I [00:22:36] wanted your opinion on that as well. The all parties Huriyat conference says seven [00:22:40] years of siege have failed to crush the freedom freedom struggle. What [00:22:44] message that does today's black day sent to India and [00:22:48] to an international community that? continues to ignore the Kashmiri's [00:22:52] right to determine their own future through a [00:22:53] plebis. Absolutely, absolutely [00:22:57] ever since 5th of August 2019, more than [00:23:01] one thousand Kashmiris have been put to jail, and not only that, [00:23:04] I must mention the Kashmiri Huriyat leadership that is behind bars for [00:23:08] more than 10 years now, in fact people like [00:23:12] Shabir Shah, Dr. [00:23:13] Kasim, and all [00:23:17] these have been harbord in jail for more than 15 year. so even [00:23:20] today, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are standing up, [00:23:24] resisting, resisting, because that is what their existence depends [00:23:28] upon. I believe this resistance in itself should be [00:23:32] quoted to the world across to the movers in shakespeare so that they would [00:23:35] know that Kashmir is not frozen in time, that [00:23:39] the issue of Kashmir still exists, that the humans of [00:23:43] Kashmir are still there, not waiting for genocide, but [00:23:46] rather waiting for the world to hear them out. for what [00:23:50] is their birth right, right to self [00:23:53] determination, and I think that is very important for the [00:23:57] world to realize the role the United Nations, the OIC and other important bodies [00:24:00] becomes very important, Pakistan has taken this case so many times to all these [00:24:04] fora, but isn't is more important that all these bodies now [00:24:08] at least unite in order to exert the necessary pressure [00:24:12] on India so that if nothing else a plebiscite happens in the Indian [00:24:16] Hell Valley. see one the [00:24:20] most important things in Kashmir is the choked life, when you don't have [00:24:24] the right to religious freedom, you cannot go for decide your prayers, you cannot go to [00:24:28] the market without being pressed and harassed, the girls, kashmiri [00:24:32] girls cannot go to their colleges or pharmacies without being checked a very [00:24:36] irregular and a very demined manner, [00:24:40] i think we really need to talk about this on the international [00:24:43] coura, that plabicit is our ultimate goal, but bringing [00:24:47] life to the people living inside. occupied Jammu and [00:24:50] Kashmir, but [00:24:51] you know [00:24:51] I think I think the responsibility or the owners also relies on [00:24:55] important major global powers and important bodies like I said the [00:24:59] United Nations, the YC, Pakistan has done as much as [00:25:02] it could continues to do that and will be doing that in the future as well, but it is [00:25:06] also the the responsibility these important bodies do the needful. Dr. [00:25:10] Mujahid Gilani, thank [00:26:09] Pakistan has done human work, it's been [00:26:12] absolutely remarkable what Pakistan, what Islamabad [00:26:16] has been able to bring about? Well, I think the countries that [00:26:20] are mediating have to keep plugging away and trying to find a [00:26:23] modus, solution. I think the first thing that has to [00:26:27] happen is there has to be agreement on the straight of Hormus, [00:26:31] because that was the cause. of this latest war, most [00:26:34] important part is going to be dialogue, and I think the [00:26:37] Pakistan back door diplomacy uh Qatar [00:26:41] also is essential. India is not only [00:26:44] destabilizing the region, India has, I think it's look at [00:26:48] this ambition, it it was involved in terrorist acts in [00:26:58] problem, systematic persecution the Muslims there, not only. [00:27:02] the Muslims but also the Christians on forces [00:27:06] are police and devies and scouts rangers, they [00:27:10] are doing the very [00:27:11] best. [00:27:22] I happen to be Shazad Hisan Khan and with me, I'm really lucky, I've been joined by my [00:27:26] wonderful colleague happens to be Miss Isha Rahan, there are couple of stories [00:27:30] that I brought and then there are couple of stories which ministry of [00:27:34] agriculture, the government of Punjab played role [00:27:38] in resolving a longstanding issue which was [00:27:41] impacting the export of Pakistani potatoes. [00:27:44] Pakistan, first of all, I am very happy that the [00:27:48] government is now leading on this issue. I would like to say [00:27:58] at the numbers. Okay, numbers is not the issue many, many famous [00:28:01] companies. coming here and everybody so [00:28:05] you know feel so promising of doing the local [00:28:08] production and [00:28:09] you know to get to build the uh confidence for the [00:28:13] long-term partnership. this is much more to do [00:28:17] with the really deep lack of trust between the United States and Iran, [00:28:21] obviously that's something that goes back nearly five [00:28:35] around 8.6 million children are in situations of [00:28:38] child labor, and that of course is very high number. those incredible [00:28:42] efforts made by Pakistan and in particular by his excellency prime [00:28:46] minister Sharif and his excellency field marshall are [00:28:50] incredible and commendable in the entire [00:29:14] one seat to go to [00:29:15] war. [00:29:21] Only Congress can actually undo the sanctions, so [00:29:24] whatever Trump says, it has to go through Congress. One the [00:29:28] key weapons that Iran is using the straight of home moves for is leverage against the US. [00:29:32] "Having a US presence on your territory has made you more likely [00:29:36] to be attacked. Realignments taking place to counter the Israelis [00:29:40] and that includes your country, Pakistan, along with uh [00:29:44] Saudi Arabia and Egypt and [00:29:46] Turkey. [00:30:35] Let's take a look at the headline the [00:30:36] hour. [00:30:55] Prime Minister Shabba Sharif will be paying visit to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia from [00:30:59] these.
