You watch the [00:05:25] report and now to talk further more about this, we have been joined by [00:05:28] Professor, professor of international relations, Istanbul [00:05:32] Technical University to discuss the Makka joint defense aggrement [00:05:36] signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. [00:05:40] Welcome to Pakistan TV's. mission, what is your [00:05:44] take, how is this going to beneficial for all the three [00:05:47] states, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey [00:05:51] regarding this agreement I'm talking [00:05:53] about? yes, thank you, here we have three [00:05:57] important Muslim countries that have signed [00:06:00] a a collective defense agreement so [00:06:04] to speak, the importance of deterrance is specifically mentioned [00:06:08] in the agreement, and further more ' [00:06:12] it is described by certain American media as a NATO style agreement, maybe [00:06:16] that's a bit farfetched, but having said that the [00:06:20] attack on one or any the countries is considered to be [00:06:24] attack on all them, it resembles very much NATO's [00:06:28] article five, so they could have put it a different [00:06:32] way, they could have expressed this a different way, but the fact that they [00:06:35] almost defined it similar to NATO's article [00:06:39] 5, attack on one is attack on all makes quite [00:06:42] significant and we already have significant cooperation between Pakistan [00:06:46] and and Saudi Arabia due to the agreement signed [00:06:50] last year but even going back years and now together with Saudi [00:06:54] Arabia's economy, pakistan's military [00:06:57] province and and Turkey's activism in militarism and [00:07:01] diplomacy in in military affairs and diplomacy as well as membership in [00:07:05] NATO makes makes this very very [00:07:08] important - I think collective [00:07:12] military. agreement, deterrance agreement, deterrance [00:07:15] agreement, and I think the main issue here is [00:07:18] that there's a threat perception on the part of Saudi Arabia coming from [00:07:22] Iran, whereas Turkey has better relations with Iran, so we have [00:07:26] very important development, I think in regional affairs, [00:07:29] focusing on military, but it can have spill over effects in economy [00:07:33] and diplomatic relations as well. Turkish [00:07:37] president said that this [00:07:40] agreement, this is not focused any [00:07:44] opposition any country, this is focused on strategic [00:07:48] cooperation between the three countries that are a part of this [00:07:52] agreement, what's your take on this? yes, absolutely, [00:07:55] mean turkey has been putting lot of emphasis on diplomacy, but [00:07:59] being in the vicinity where there's a lot of war beat in the north [00:08:03] in Russia and Ukraine or in the south in [00:08:05] the in the Gulf region i think and historically Turkey and [00:08:09] Pakistan already has very good relation. and now with [00:08:13] the involvement of Saudi Arabia, I think [00:08:17] three major regional powers have, I think joined forces, [00:08:21] not against anyone, but trying to defend themselves and the region, trying [00:08:25] to bring peace and stability to the region, but there are [00:08:28] serious threats coming to the region, I think trying [00:08:32] to also preserve the independence and the integrity [00:08:35] the region is also important for these leaders, I believe, but [00:08:39] stuffly, but on the case as I said for the Saudies. "I think the [00:08:43] Iranian threat is in their minds, whereas for Turkey and [00:08:47] Pakistan, they have much better relations with Iran, so it is [00:08:51] i think it's a source of stability in the region, [00:08:55] not being not in any way aggressive towards any other, [00:08:58] but definitely trying to protect themselves and protect each [00:09:02] other based on common history, based on similarities of [00:09:06] culture, and diplomatic initiation and coordination [00:09:10] between these three important Muslim." Yeah, [00:09:13] this is a trilateral agreement where Pakistan, Saudi [00:09:17] Arabia and Turkey are involved, what do you [00:09:20] think, I mean like from each one's [00:09:24] perspective and from each other's experiences, how can the three [00:09:28] learn from each of this experiences regarding this agreement, and [00:09:32] also there is this operational readiness [00:09:35] of of each other that is different, the technological advancement is [00:09:39] different, the economic condition is different, so how can... we [00:09:43] define mechanism where we can keep learning and we [00:09:47] can be beneficial all three the countries from this [00:09:50] aggrement. mean, of course Pakistan has nuclear [00:09:53] component very much developed in in this kind of area and [00:09:57] it has a strong army, and turkey on the other [00:10:01] hand being a member of NATO and involved in the [00:10:04] numerous operations, be peacekeeping operations within [00:10:08] NATO or in middle east, it it was involved in cer [00:10:12] operations against the balligerants in Syria or in [00:10:16] Iraq and Saudi Arabia more of economic [00:10:19] powerhouse, I think, and of course [00:10:23] Turkey has drones. which were bought numerous drones were [00:10:27] bought by Saudi Arabia, so there there is already [00:10:30] cooperation at hand between these three different countries, but it [00:10:34] has, it all have their, they all have their different aspects of [00:10:38] power, as I mentioned before, and they're ready to [00:10:41] corporate, and again trying to [00:10:45] they will probably have spill over effects in the economy, in [00:10:49] policy coordination against the security threats of [00:10:53] course, these are very much concerned with the hooties in [00:10:56] yemen or or the other [00:11:00] prioriteraning groups in Iraq and I don't see all [00:11:04] these three countries sort of fighting a war together, but definitely a policy [00:11:08] coordination, military coordination in a threats against each [00:11:11] other, so they will definitely support each other, beat in [00:11:15] intelligence sharing, industrial complex [00:11:19] or defense industries, they will probably and [00:11:23] and help each other in develop. further weaponry and [00:11:26] buying from each other, so it's definitely it offers, it has lot of [00:11:30] opportunities for all the three countries that we've been [00:11:34] talking about. thank you so much for giving a time to pakistan [00:11:37] tv. [00:11:42] all geopolitical analyst Ayyub symbol spoke to Pakistan TV from [00:11:46] Beijing to discuss the significance the Makka joint defense [00:11:49] increment. let's share with you what he said. i think yes, that [00:11:53] is a quite historic. stone into the relation between the Saudi [00:11:57] Arabia, Pakistan and Turkia, and I think [00:12:01] that that is something that was needed according to the changing [00:12:04] dynamic, changing dynamics and the political and the [00:12:08] geopolitical shift in the Middle East, so how much it could be the practical and the [00:12:11] pragmatic, I think that will the time will tell, because such [00:12:15] kind of mean strategical partnerships with quite [00:12:19] heavyweight militarily mean that the countries like [00:12:22] Pakistan and Turkey, because the Saudi Aralience. and [00:12:26] more dependence of defense was on the United States, [00:12:30] so but the recent episode and the the war between the [00:12:34] United States and Iran has quite changed the [00:12:37] dynamics in the middle east and the Saudies [00:12:40] reliance on the other countries, especially on Pakistan and the Turkia, I [00:12:44] think that is quite meaningful at this time, but if we can go to the [00:12:48] historical context, so I think that the Turkey and the Saudi [00:12:52] Arabia, their [00:12:54] past if you... if we go, if we go, if we go towards the ottoman empire, so [00:12:58] I think that that is quite a big change, and [00:13:02] the the compliance and especially the the [00:13:05] compatibility of such kind the relations are quite changing, but we can see [00:13:09] also the other side that Iran quite downplay, and [00:13:12] also Iran said that such kind the deals will not [00:13:16] protect Saudi Arabia, so it's mean that the [00:13:20] Iran existence in the middle east will increase and especially [00:13:23] the Iran proxy. that could be a posing a quite [00:13:27] serious threat to Saudis, I think that is also [00:13:30] something that could be considerable into the near [00:13:33] future. [00:13:37] Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharief described the signing the [00:13:41] Makkka joint defense agreement alongside Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman [00:13:44] and Turkish President Rajub Tayyaran as a historic milestone in [00:13:48] strengthening cooperation among the three brotherly nations. [00:14:40] Turkish President Rajub Tayab Erdowan has said that the Makka joint defense [00:14:44] agreement between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan targets no [00:14:48] country. He added that agreement remains open to participation of other [00:14:51] friendly nations seeking peace, prosperity and in the [00:14:55] region a post on the Turkish social platform Ergon said the [00:14:59] agreement based on the principle of collective deterence with strengthen security [00:15:03] and defense cooperation, joint defense industry projects and counter [00:15:07] terrorism efforts. He added that Turkey would maintain its principal [00:15:11] stance in favor of resolving conflicts and crisis through dialogue [00:15:15] and diplomacy based on respect for international [00:15:17] law. [00:15:22] The joint defense agreement asures a new framework for collective [00:15:26] security among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The agreement [00:15:30] strengthens collective deterents by presenting the combined strategic weight of [00:15:34] all three states as a single defensive front.
