[00:00:21] Zeb Sahb and his team, you all, all the [00:00:25] all those unknown heroes who are working behind [00:00:35] story of Pakistan TV is story of Pakistan first time we are feeling [00:00:39] very proud that our own story, the story of Pakistan is [00:00:43] being told to the world by Pakistan itself through Pakistan [00:00:46] TV, we are living [00:00:48] in a very serious times in this disruptive [00:00:52] world, this is this is the the most important war [00:00:56] is war of narratives, alhamdulillah Pakistani. [00:01:00] is based on the truth and facts [00:01:02] of and that truth and facts are being told to the world through this [00:01:06] Pakistan TV screen, so this is your big achievement that it's [00:01:10] not that people are watching [00:01:13] of you, people are trusting you, they are trusting in the news which is coming [00:01:16] from Pakistan TV, they are trusting in the [00:01:19] in the facts and figures which are coming from Pakistan TV and alhamdulillah [00:01:23] seeing so many shining faces, the [00:01:27] youngsters, they're doing very well. program [00:01:32] of quality, the material which is being brought out, the scripts, everything [00:01:36] in is of an international standard, and to be very honest, very [00:01:40] proudly we [00:01:41] of introduce Pakistan through your screen to the world, to our friends and [00:01:45] colleagues, so they all appreciate, so my all appreciation to all the [00:01:49] workers, all the sports staff, all those who are really [00:01:53] working very hard behind the screen, and of course you [00:01:56] guys [00:01:57] who who are on the screen, you deserve. real appreciation [00:02:01] and we we the whole Pakistan [00:02:10] us, [00:02:10] you know, you are also part of this family, you are also part [00:02:13] of the screen that we share making sure to reach international audiences to showcase [00:02:17] Pakistan story, and over the past year we know [00:02:20] of how Pakistan has found itself in international major [00:02:23] of conversations, how important was it that a platform like Pakistan TV needed to [00:02:27] be established to showcase Pakistan standing. across the globe, we have seen [00:02:31] how international media has been quoting Pakistan TV, not just that with Operation [00:02:35] Vinyan Souz, with Mark I Huck happening, Pakistan has displayed [00:02:39] incredible amounts of credibility, accountability [00:02:43] and public trust that it has gained throughout this time, how important was it [00:02:47] that Pakistan TV was established? You see [00:02:50] that as I said that we are living [00:02:52] in a very challenge, extremely challenging times, this is [00:02:56] of a disruptive world and this is a world of and then we are facing [00:03:00] in enemy which is master in disinformation and [00:03:03] misinformation, disinformation labs and the theatrics which is [00:03:07] across at that time we [00:03:11] have we had to internationalize our evidence, the evidence which [00:03:14] is being implemented against of of incidents [00:03:18] in and of application which is implemented against [00:03:21] Pakistan, so Pakistan needed a voice to to [00:03:25] give the factual story [00:03:29] in the in the... information domain in the war of [00:03:32] narratives, we again it's a challenging time as far [00:03:36] as information is concerned, you know in one minute around [00:03:39] 200 hours of [00:03:41] you know the stuff is [00:03:44] uploaded even on youtube so it's [00:03:47] a great challenge you know around 20 [00:03:49] you know 20 days stuff is [00:03:53] uploaded more than 13080 [00:03:56] of million 138 million [00:04:00] tweets and you know messages are uploaded, so this is the [00:04:03] environment, so in that environment you have very, very short [00:04:07] time to produce and [00:04:11] and to present the counter narrative, so in that [00:04:14] case the Pakistan, the main media is supposed [00:04:18] to be presenting and supposed to be performing according [00:04:22] to the the requirements [00:04:24] of the time, so I think bringing out [00:04:27] of the facts and figures in this short period of... time otherwise [00:04:31] you and the life of you know every information is not [00:04:35] more than four hours, so within four hours you have to counted the things, [00:04:38] so I think Pakistan TV has matched to that those [00:04:42] standards, those those challenges, these are things which are [00:04:46] of not known to the normal audience [00:04:48] you know, so these are these are there are big challenges for the main [00:04:52] media, and unfortunately an era where the main media is [00:04:56] losing its you know popularity may be, the trust may... [00:05:00] Maybe or people don't have the time, the habits which [00:05:03] are, you have very short time to, but still the [00:05:07] the I mean the audience which is watching Pakistan [00:05:10] of TV, that is increasing. "your social media teams is also must be [00:05:14] complemented along with the main screen that they are they are falling up [00:05:18] at it, so they are adding [00:05:20] you know lot of strength to whatever you are doing, so I think this [00:05:24] is performance, exact exactly sir, and thank you so much for [00:05:28] saying that as well, which is why I'm going to take the opportunity and thank [00:05:31] from you, our managing director to coming down to our [00:05:35] producers, to our teams, to our cameraman, boom operators, makeup [00:05:38] artists and I hope that I'm not leaving behind anyone else as well." [00:05:42] and [00:05:42] you certainly [00:05:43] the entire team of world this morning who actually been on their toes right at the [00:05:47] beginning, so imagine that when it was the US Iran war or the Islamabad [00:05:51] talks taking place, it was a non-stop transmission that we kick [00:05:55] started, then we do know for fact how when the conversation about [00:05:58] indus water treaty started to happen, how we open doors for journalists from all over [00:06:02] the globe to come down to pakistan and cover and see for themselves, made be the [00:06:06] lake lucern summit in switzerland, may be our honorable prime minister [00:06:10] going to China, may it be the Bangladeshi elections, we have been [00:06:14] keeping up on our on our toes, but sir, now I think there's [00:06:18] there more important things that I would want to talk about [00:06:20] and that is that imagine how do you think that Pakistan TV has been able [00:06:24] to highlight its strategic uh location or regional [00:06:28] connectivity and trade, Pakistan's role in regional peace, Pakistan's [00:06:32] relations with major powers, because we have been building on all of that, so [00:06:36] your comment on that please, we need to understand [00:06:39] that media and the medium of... formations are always [00:06:43] very important elements the national power, so they they are [00:06:47] supposed to be performing a way that strengthens [00:06:50] your outlook as well as your foreign policy, [00:06:54] your strategy, military policies, your economic [00:06:57] policies, so these are very important domains, i think Pakistan [00:07:01] TV has performed again very well as far [00:07:04] as performed very well in all these [00:07:07] fields especially in this war, because I will talk more [00:07:11] about the performance. [00:07:20] I mean so I think honestly telling you whenever I go [00:07:24] to the international audience or whenever we interact with the [00:07:27] international audience they always praise and I [00:07:31] always tell them that if you want to have the facts you want to know the [00:07:35] facts start watching Pakistan TV instead of [00:07:38] you know every big channel every big you know media. [00:07:42] house has their own angles, so [00:07:45] you know even the positive news they try to you know, but anyways this is a [00:07:49] challenging word, i don't mind that, but i have been [00:07:53] trying all my this this tenere of [00:07:57] making commentary on the strategic field that must go to the most [00:08:00] challenging those challenge channels also to get [00:08:03] some time and space [00:08:05] you know where i can give my you [00:08:08] know verdict where i can give my opinion. [00:08:12] and the true facts for Pakistan, [00:08:15] so [00:08:16] in in this challenging environment, I think Pakistan PT, [00:08:20] Pakistan TV has all also competed very well, [00:08:24] so the counter narratives which were presented by you, people were listening to you, [00:08:28] watching to you, they have been quoting you, I have been following twitter as [00:08:31] well on many occasions especially your social media team must also be [00:08:35] appreciated the way they produce those tweets which helped us [00:08:39] to to to attach them. so [00:08:43] that was a great sport, even a small clip, that was [00:08:46] carrying very important strategic message in that clip, so [00:08:50] that helped us also to to support Pakistani narratives [00:08:54] and that credit goes to these this to your [00:08:57] team, those were worked so hard, mean after a program [00:09:01] within a very short time we were able to have those social media [00:09:05] clips which was [00:09:07] you know pushed into the whole space and of course the [00:09:11] main debates which took place the quality of guests you are bringing, [00:09:15] the international commentators, domestic commentators, i [00:09:18] think that is that is amazing and must also appreciate [00:09:22] your your people who contact with us and they keep asking [00:09:26] us that please give us time so [00:09:29] the they used to get connected with us and mean amazing stuff they [00:09:33] have also that that's wonderful sir and thank you so much for your [00:09:37] kind words and you've been with us like family and we always make sure that [00:09:41] we keep on chasing you for your time very quickly sir, we do know for [00:09:44] fact under the leadership of Mr. Adil Shah Zeb who's continuously looking [00:09:48] for betterment, what is that one thing which you think when Pakistan TV [00:09:52] now finally alhamdulillah is one year old, [00:09:54] you know we're doing some good professional work, what is that one thing which you think that [00:09:58] okay, probably we should focus on that [00:10:00] too, first of all let me [00:10:04] appreciate Adil Shahzeb Sah for creating a wonderful [00:10:08] team, the main task of a leader is to [00:10:11] create team. which is performing with [00:10:13] responsibility, one thing which I would [00:10:17] advise to Pakistan TV is that although Pakistan [00:10:21] is a TV is always a Pakistan centric that is the professional [00:10:25] professionalism through merit, so always the [00:10:29] merit should be the first policy [00:10:32] in in in hiring people in in in giving them the [00:10:36] task and the professionalism is can only be maintained through the [00:10:40] merit, so merit has to be the central center of gravity [00:10:43] of your performance, so that's one advise which I would like like to give [00:10:47] to you. I think that's wonderful, thank you so much major general retired Mr. Zahid Mahmoud for being [00:10:51] with us, lovely to be in conversation [00:10:53] with you, it's a big day, so ladies and gentlemen. and where Pakistan TV has been leading the [00:10:57] front and certainly I think for all the suggestions and submissions [00:11:01] which we have been receiving, we have been working on them as well [00:12:56] Right, ladies and gentlemen, welcome back, thank [00:19:54] very technical topic in terms of artificial intelligence, how it is being [00:19:58] and how it is being indulged in the realm of super [00:20:05] if what if I tell you that artificial intelligence has in threatening the United [00:20:09] States president Mr. Donald Trump, how will listen to me on this one, because [00:20:12] AI link stocks fell sharply across global markets after leading technology [00:20:16] executives warned about the risks of rapidly developing artificial [00:20:20] intelligence, anthropic CEO Dario Amodi called for [00:20:23] slower pace of air development over concerns over potential [00:20:27] misuse with Alon Musk and Open AIC or Sam Altman [00:20:31] backing his concerns. Nashdach futures fell nearly 2% [00:20:35] while invidia dropped 3%. mid nearly 6% and [00:20:39] meta and amazon more than 1% while European technology stocks also [00:20:43] decline. US president Donald Trump dismissed fears that AI threatens [00:20:46] humanity as a hawks but said his administ. ration and [00:20:50] stopped companies from engaging in potentially harmful activities. Trump also [00:20:54] warn that restricting the industry could allow China to gain an advantage [00:20:58] while insisting the United States remained ahead in AI [00:21:02] development. And it's not just AI development, it is the question being [00:21:06] raised about how when the people making artificial intelligence are now fearing its [00:21:09] power about the concerns about how the AI is going to be [00:21:13] taking over how different companies are racing to make super AI [00:21:17] models. To speak more about this, we are going to be having a discussion with our guest to happens to [00:21:21] be Dr. Amar Masud, the dean faculty of computing and [00:21:42] so you have already laid the ground work for this in terms [00:21:45] of shahsad has just mentioned the recent news. [00:21:50] how from the CEO the Open AI also [00:21:54] from the other forums and we [00:21:57] must realize that now AI has reached that point where [00:22:01] we are actually venturing into uncharted waters and this [00:22:05] has really for those who do realize the potential of [00:22:08] AI they are now started to raise alarm so we can [00:22:12] see that the common for the common user it was somewhere [00:22:16] in end of 2022 when Chat GPT appeared. on the [00:22:20] horizon and [00:22:21] the we all became familiar with there, but it was more of assistant, but [00:22:25] now it has gained so much of strength that people [00:22:29] are really [00:22:41] that we have, i'm going to mention about Jacob Coxon a research specializes in [00:22:45] training new AM models by having them consume vast amounts of data [00:22:48] said on Tuesday. that he is leaving the company because he does not want to [00:22:52] participate any industry wide rush to build AI systems [00:22:56] that can improve themselves, because for AI systems to improve themselves [00:23:00] mean that there might be no or less human [00:23:04] control. now how do you [00:23:12] change what has occurred is that instead these simple models which would be [00:23:15] more of assistant for you and provide that automation [00:23:19] and provide the response and the memory very at [00:23:23] very fast pace, now we have embedded [00:23:26] the properly proper intelligence, we call it as [00:23:30] in the technical terms in we call it as chain of thought, so there are [00:23:34] model with chain of thought who can actually reason about why they are [00:23:37] once they are, once you request them for some [00:23:41] cury with some cury, they will not simply output the best [00:23:44] response, they have the chain the thought even they'l check their responses [00:23:48] themselves maybe through. running those in some sand [00:23:52] boxes or validating through different databases and so this is [00:23:56] what the human beings would also [00:24:08] thropic because it actually caused a stur this summer and they said that [00:24:12] their models had broken out of testing environments and obtained unauthorized [00:24:16] access to real computer systems the announcements prompted concerns of [00:24:20] about models going rogue and carrying out other more harmful [00:24:23] tasks? yeah, shahzad sab, this is [00:24:26] what is worrying now, that's why people are raising more and more alarms, because these are the [00:24:30] evidences that you can see now till prior to this around [00:24:34] six months back, people like you and me probably would still be just [00:24:38] thinking that what can go wrong, but now you can see all those evidences [00:24:42] where this chain of thought or this thinking process has helped those [00:24:45] models, you can think the combined intelligent power [00:24:49] of... thousands of millions of humans combined into one model [00:24:53] and by virtue of that intelligence, this is similar to the [00:24:57] like human like intelligence and you have so much of combined strength [00:25:01] that [00:25:01] they are able to undertake those operations which human mind [00:25:05] would take probably years or maybe even a very exp experienced [00:25:08] cyber security specialist would take months so as to undertake but [00:25:12] model that can it can easily break that has happened with [00:25:16] the entropic model the mythos model. which [00:25:20] was able to find all those flaws in the current open source [00:25:23] software which had been there for so quite a while like 20 30 [00:25:27] years we have been using all those softwares in our browsers or databases [00:25:31] and these are open source available everyone so has to exploit but still the [00:25:35] best the human mind couldn't find those flaw but that software was [00:25:39] able to find those flaw that's why they haven't released it to public and they have made [00:25:43] it only accessible to cyber security firms they are also worried that such [00:25:47] models can also used to launch biological [00:25:51] attacks, that's why they have restricted the public, it can be and and [00:25:55] this is the very dangerous part that everyone is afraid of people who [00:25:59] are making AI are now afraid the consequences of what AI do because [00:26:02] AI was essentially made to solve problems for humanity, but [00:26:06] now we know the thinking abilities and the abilities that AI [00:26:10] has. another example we would like to share is how a control safety test, [00:26:14] claud attempted to blackmail an engineer making [00:26:18] sure to black male in the most effective way to achieve the goal [00:26:22] it wanted so it so it wouldn't be shut down, so how [00:26:25] scary can it be when AI can be manipulative, it can be controlling, it [00:26:29] can give advice and and then it can make people... do certain [00:26:33] decisions or come to certain decisions? so you [00:26:37] must appreciate all these models work by learning from the past [00:26:40] behavior and the average human being [00:26:44] takes a quite a while so as to learn, you we don't have that much [00:26:48] memory, we don't we require time and experience and over that [00:26:51] builds up over ages and then we are able to come up with the [00:26:55] proper thinking model, but for AI the compute power that is [00:26:59] available and the amount type of data, so they have been... [00:27:03] trained on that type of data where they have learned that this is how [00:27:07] within the dark web or other places people have been trying to exploit so [00:27:11] these are the options available so for these agents that becomes valid [00:27:14] behavior once they have learned it they have seen it in their training that this is what has [00:27:18] been happ so for them for achieving the object they will also try [00:27:22] to identify as per chain of thought what could be the viable options [00:27:26] and while they have put in sand boxes but at times they can awaid [00:27:29] it they it's just like thinking it okay maybe i am not that close to [00:27:32] that boundary, so probably I [00:27:35] can still move [00:27:35] a little bit ahead in this direction, something like this, you can think of [00:27:39] it, so that's why people are really worried that even your sand boxes would fail, you read kill [00:27:43] kill switch that and that's what happened with open [00:27:47] AI, even the kill switch didn't work, their models were able to [00:27:51] explore beyond their boundary, so that would be [00:27:54] this is exactly why now we need to sleep with their eyes field open making [00:27:58] sure that maybe AI is not hacking us or making sure to do other [00:28:01] things that we not aware [00:30:19] with the news headlines for this hour, I'm Farukh [00:30:22] Fayaz. [00:30:40] US president Donald Trump says Iran wants to deal with Washington [00:30:43] while Tehran denies seeking negotiations with the United [00:30:47] States as tensions remain high over the straight of [00:30:50] hormos.
