[00:04:47] of deputy prime minister and foreign minister [00:04:50] Sagda has said Pakistan has written [00:04:53] of story of everlasting sacrifices in the war on terror offering more than [00:04:56] 90 thousand lives and suffering severe damage. to its [00:05:00] economy, addressing a conference on the changing landscape of counter terrorism in [00:05:04] Islam, the deputy prime minister that Pakistan fates terrorism with [00:05:08] courage, bravery and resilience, he said on the directive offield [00:05:12] marshals operations against terrorism have been conducted daily in [00:05:15] every province has to play its two role. speaking [00:05:19] about Afghanistan, the Pakistan is only one demand that Afghan [00:05:23] territory not be used for terrorism. that Pakistan has continued to [00:05:27] press the Afghan regime and has visited Afghanistan for [00:05:30] talks. deputy prime minister Das said a trilateral meeting [00:05:34] of Pakistan, China in Afghanistan was held in Karble in August [00:05:37] 2025, but the Afghan authorities did not fulfill their [00:05:41] commitments. you also say the presence the band TTP in [00:05:45] other terrorist groups in Afghanistan is a threat to regional peace and that [00:05:49] terrorists infiltrate across the border to attack soldiers and [00:05:52] citizens. the deputy prime ministers that [00:05:56] terrorism from mapan soil is not acceptable under any circumstances [00:06:00] and that the Afghan Taliban regime must immediately stop all [00:06:04] support to the terrorists including weapons. he reaffirmed that [00:06:08] Pakistan is committed to the complete elimination of [00:06:11] terrorism. [00:06:18] Federal minister for information and [00:06:19] broadcasting [00:06:22] there was a breakdown of governance and terrorists were destroying people's [00:06:25] livelihoods, talking exclusively to Pakistan TV, the federal [00:06:29] minister for information and broadcasting that federal government imposed emergency in the [00:06:33] province under valid constitutional [00:06:44] what happened in KP imposing the governor rule was not a [00:06:48] political move, but there are other thoughts that you [00:06:52] know there was a two-third majority of a party [00:06:56] called BTI at was thrown out, how do you [00:06:59] justify the governor rule being imposed there? the 1973 [00:07:03] constitution of Pakistan has valid [00:07:06] clauses with regard to imposition of emergency and imposition of [00:07:10] governor's rule. now once the framers the [00:07:14] constitution intended the use these clauses in [00:07:18] dire circumstances, so [00:07:21] constitutional provision exists, whenever there is a breakdown of governance, whenever there [00:07:25] is a collapse, that is the time when [00:07:28] such clauses are invoked, so I [00:07:32] think with regard to terrorism, [00:07:34] there was a surge in terrorism for the past many [00:07:37] years, PTI government has been there in KPK [00:07:41] for the past. 13 and a half years and they failed to take any [00:07:45] credible steps to eradicate terrorism, in fact they were hand in glove with the [00:07:49] terrorist, terrorist infrastructures were being promoted in and in the [00:07:53] south districts in many areas terrorists had been given [00:07:57] complete ingress, terrorists were manning police stations, they [00:08:01] were there in the administration after nightfall [00:08:05] and i think there was a sympathy with the Taliban, [00:08:08] with the TTP, with the proscribed organizations by the [00:08:12] PTI government now the national finance commission yes since [00:08:16] 2010 has given 1% of its share to the KPK government [00:08:20] which now amounts to after so many years amounts to 800 million [00:08:23] 800 billion rupees now where has this so the setup which [00:08:27] is in place right now will they be looking into where [00:08:31] the that money has gone they absolutely should and it's not my place to tell them [00:08:35] if they should or they should not I think it's a very very competent setup [00:08:39] very as I must say non partisan [00:08:42] setup, very professional people, with accuman, [00:08:46] with skill, with integrity, with experience, with qualification, these [00:08:50] people, their integrity and their competence is [00:08:54] beyond any doubt, so I think there was a breakdown of [00:08:57] governance, terrorists were roaming about the districts, [00:09:01] killing people, destroying their livelihoods, so I [00:09:05] think once these terrorists were gaining ingress with the help and [00:09:09] support the PTI government and the chief minister, "that is [00:09:12] when this emergency has been imposed and it [00:09:16] has been imposed through valid constitutional clause, and [00:09:20] as result we have seen that there have been no protest in [00:09:24] the province oftunkwah, the PTA used to claim that [00:09:28] if there is such eventuality where emergencies imposed, millions [00:09:32] of people would come on the streets, so we have not seen one credible [00:09:36] protest in the entire province, in fact people have welcomed this [00:09:40] step because they have seen that the new advisory council. [00:09:52] so honorable minister, the federal government [00:09:56] have associated the BTI with the TDP and the other [00:10:00] terrorist organizations, so do you have any evidence? [00:10:03] number one, there is one argument that they have [00:10:07] been doing the long marches in the districts where the army [00:10:11] and police cannot. go [00:10:13] and they requested the terrorist for [00:10:17] safe passage, yes, we have lot of credible evidence on our [00:10:21] hands, which shows this unholy alliance, this cluse... [00:10:25] the PTI KPK government and the terrorists, in fact [00:10:29] all political parties have given sacrifices and you know we wish safety for [00:10:33] PTI, but they had asked the terrorists to give their [00:10:36] marge safe passage to the districts where ordinary citizens cannot pass, where [00:10:40] other political parties representatives cannot pass, so I [00:10:43] think they were not only supportive the [00:10:47] terrorists, they were in fact promoting these terrorists, you see, I went [00:10:51] to kohart, I visited the home of a martered policeman and his father... [00:10:55] said to me that we are ready to fight this fight, but the government of KPK is not supporting [00:10:59] us. I went to the hospital, I met the injured and their [00:11:03] resolved and determination to fight against terrorism. It's it's stronger than ever. [00:11:06] The people of Khabar Pakhton have given innumerable [00:11:10] sacrifices, valuable sacrifices against this war, but we had [00:11:14] a government which was you know promoting terrorists [00:11:18] and enabling them to carry out these attacks. They did not do any [00:11:22] capacity building for the police, for the CTT. to install safe city [00:11:25] cameras all across KPK, to make a forensic lab, to give equipment to the [00:11:29] police, in fact whenever federal government tried to give any equipment, they returned it back, so I think [00:11:33] it's it was very sorry state of affairs and I would take good, you had [00:11:37] given negotiations a chance, of [00:11:40] course, if they hadn't opted for the long [00:11:44] march, would the federal government still [00:11:47] had gone for, so I think the imposing, I think we [00:11:51] gave negotiations lot of room a lot of chance had long [00:11:55] police going on, but they were never serious, they used to agree to one thing and then they used [00:11:59] to you know just turn back on their word. we had only one agenda, that was [00:12:03] counter terrorism, eradication of terrorism and serious efforts on part the provincial [00:12:07] government to counter terrorism, had they carried on with the long march, [00:12:11] we don't care, we had only one agenda that please fight against these [00:12:14] terrorists and bring a counter terrorism [00:12:21] further news live streaming to log to our website pakistantv. [00:13:05] show we are going to talk about the situation developing in the middle [00:13:08] east, in the second segment we are going to talk about the [00:13:12] controversy in the so-called largest democracy in the world, [00:13:15] India regarding the revision in the electoral [00:13:19] roles, there has been crackdown on the part the authorities against the [00:13:23] demonstrations and massive protests [00:13:27] as they have erupted against this exercise the election [00:13:30] commission of India and the Bharatiya Janata party [00:13:34] led government in the center. We are going to talk about that particular [00:13:38] pressing issue. India is faced with in the second segment of today's [00:13:42] show. Let's begin with the first one. We know for [00:13:46] fact that the situation which is unfolding [00:13:50] in the Middle East has entered into a very [00:13:54] dangerous phase. when we talk about the convergence of multiple [00:13:57] crises, when we talk about there was a crisis that was unfolding [00:14:01] between the US and Iran, there is a little [00:14:05] bit of lull when we talk about the active hostilities between the two, but [00:14:09] on the other side we have seen there is increase in the [00:14:13] escalation when we talk about Saudi Arabia and the [00:14:16] Huti rebels, also there are reports that [00:14:20] suggest that the fighting continues in the Red Sea around [00:14:24] Babal M between the Huti rebels and the [00:14:28] Yemen's government. Also when we talk about in the [00:14:31] latest the developments, there has been a horrific attack [00:14:35] on Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyad's king Khalid international [00:14:39] airport, as result of which there have [00:14:42] been reports of casualities and injuries [00:14:46] as well, at least 12 people have been killed in over [00:14:49] 309 people have been injured [00:14:53] in that particular series. strikes by the Houti [00:14:56] rebels against Kingdom of Saudi Arabia we have seen a [00:15:00] strong reaction coming from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia [00:15:04] calling or describing this action as a full [00:15:07] fledged war crime and is also promised very [00:15:11] decisive response against the Houti rebels in the wake of [00:15:15] this particular act of aggression on the part the Hutis likewise [00:15:19] we have seen the condemmination coming from all across when [00:15:23] we talk about the United Nations Secretary General Pakistan's Prime Minister [00:15:27] Shahbas Sharief has also condemned this attack and [00:15:31] is also reiterated Pakistan's commitment to Saudi [00:15:34] Arabia's security especially. under the [00:15:38] Macca joint defense agreement. Also Malaysia, [00:15:42] Germany, the United Arab Emirates and number of other [00:15:45] countries and also international institutions, [00:15:49] including the European Union, they have also [00:15:52] condemned this attack against Kingdom of Saudi [00:15:55] Arabia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and [00:15:59] security. At the same time there is an interesting factor when we talk about [00:16:03] President Donald Trump, he was asked whether there could be a [00:16:07] possible. the military involvement on the part [00:16:10] the US, besides the Saudi forces [00:16:14] against the Houties, he responded by saying that [00:16:18] we may, but that is not an official [00:16:22] confirmation that perhaps the US would be [00:16:25] involved in this retaliation the part the kingdom of Saudi Arabia against the [00:16:29] Houties through the military means, what are the [00:16:31] options resting with the kingdom of Saudi Arabia [00:16:35] amid this escalating? situation between itself [00:16:39] and the hoot is concerned, what is the likelihood the [00:16:43] US military involvement in this, and also when we talk [00:16:47] about in the larger scheme of things when there [00:16:50] are uncertainties regarding as to where [00:16:54] that conflict between the US and Iran will go, although there is [00:16:58] a suspension of strikes, there was an announcement made by the US president [00:17:02] regarding the suspension of strikes until after the midterm [00:17:05] elections against a... but does this [00:17:09] front actually compound that entire [00:17:12] situation in the middle east when we talk about kingdom of soudi arabia and [00:17:16] the hooti rebels where does diplomacy stand at the moment when [00:17:20] it comes to or there any sort [00:17:23] of chances when we talk about deescalating the situation between kingdom of [00:17:27] Saudi Arabia and Hutis through diplomatic means all these [00:17:31] important aspects of discussion for that we are honored to being joined [00:18:01] let's begin the discussion with you, colnel sweet when [00:18:05] we specifically try to understand "this [00:18:08] very series of strikes on the part the hoothies [00:18:12] when it comes to the civilian infrastructure [00:18:16] within the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it has been described as a [00:18:20] full fledged war crime on the part the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and it [00:18:24] has also promised a very decisive response. could you give us an [00:18:28] understanding, how do you look at that, [00:18:32] what's your assessment, what is this act on the part of futis when [00:18:36] it comes to specifically? is we the civilian [00:18:47] let's let let's not kit ourselves, okay, the hoothi rebels are [00:18:50] proxies the Iranian regime, okay, so they [00:18:54] are acting, one on behalf of Iran, but [00:18:58] two, the hoothi rebels have been at war with Saudi Arabia for years, [00:19:02] right? I mean, I can recall when I was a senior intelligence officer in Jibooti [00:19:05] uh, Africa in uh... 2015 that the hoothies were [00:19:09] firing drones and ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia [00:19:13] but also at the United Arab Emirates, so there's a lot of blad bad blood between the [00:19:17] two, okay? and and I suspect, [00:19:20] strongly, Iran's been funding them, equipping them, training them, there's [00:19:24] IRGC advisors on the ground, the hoothi have also been firing [00:19:28] ballistic missiles into Israel, so let's let's not, let's not think that [00:19:32] this just occurred, this has been going on for a long [00:19:35] time, uh, this isn't intended to, in my opinion, do [00:19:39] two things, it's it's intended to add to the the [00:19:43] glut if you will of oil coming out the out the [00:19:53] but specifically talking about this instance in [00:19:56] particular when when we talk about the targeting the civilian [00:20:00] infrastructure, we've seen the casualties happening, hundreds [00:20:04] of injuries have happened, this is clear cut. violation [00:20:08] of international law, the international norms, there are covenants, there [00:20:11] conventions internationally that forbid and prohibit [00:20:15] in categorical terms of any military [00:20:19] advancement or strike when it comes to the civilian [00:20:21] infrastructure. now i agree with that, [00:20:24] it it it [00:20:24] is it is a war crime, and look, we've seen nothing but war crimes for [00:20:28] the past four and a half years and we see the international community largely ignored [00:20:32] them, okay? so yes a war crimes, [00:20:35] civilians were killed, civilians were... target okay, riyad is [00:20:39] the airport that they struck is a civilian airport, it's [00:20:42] not a military airport, it's a civilian airport, it was delivered and it got what they [00:20:45] wanted, which was attention to their cause. [00:20:50] attention to Iran's cause and they believe that by [00:20:53] escalating and getting that type of attention that the other nations in [00:20:57] the region, the other Gulf state nations in Jordan and Israel [00:21:01] will somehow back off of off either Iran or [00:21:05] back off off the hoothi, but all that's really done is [00:21:09] just in my opinion is just yes, it further escalates the [00:21:13] situation and it's going to possibly cause an expansion the [00:21:16] war, okay when I say expansion the war I mean saudi'. maybe [00:21:20] retaliating, but retaliatory strikes don't win wars, they just make you feel [00:21:24] better at the end the day, but it could involve Pakistan, it could also involve [00:21:28] Turkey uh, and as you stated in your opening [00:21:31] piece, both them are signatories to the Mecca agreement, but let's [00:21:35] also understand that they signed that document almost three months ago, [00:21:39] so it's very um, we're a time right now uh [00:21:43] that that one or two actions on the battlefield can [00:21:47] cause strategic consequences and and we're starting... see [00:21:50] that right now on the ground there in in the middle [00:22:00] what's your understanding when we specifically talk about the options [00:22:04] resting right now after this rific attack against civilian [00:22:07] infrastructure in the kingdom, what options resting with the [00:22:11] kingdom of Saudi Arabia when it has promised a [00:22:15] decisive response in return to towards the [00:22:18] hoothies? [00:22:25] John Sweet is saying, uh, I think the uh, whothies are messaging [00:22:28] here, trying to bring attention to their cause, by attacking the [00:22:32] King Khalid airport, which is a civilian airport, uh, [00:22:36] clearly uh, they're not only just committing a war crime, uh, but they're trying to [00:22:40] send loud exclamation mark that they don't mind uh, because they [00:22:44] view that as is key to getting their global [00:22:47] message out there, that set, I think there's... also two other messages that are [00:22:51] happening that will impact the nature of Saudi Arabia's [00:22:54] response uh this kind of attack, this type of horrific attack where 12 [00:22:58] people were killed uh didn't happen a vacuum. I highly [00:23:02] suspect that the approaching US mid-terms also [00:23:06] motivated the hoothies to act uh by attacking the US alli in the [00:23:10] region by attacking a Sunni state at that and that [00:23:14] they are attempting to influence oil prices and and [00:23:17] probably Iran is behind this, not probably we. that Iran is behind this, the [00:23:21] IGC has been less effective of late in terms of interdicting [00:23:25] uh oil supplies going through the traiter chamus and so they need the hoothies to [00:23:29] be escalating in the babomed dead straight in the red sea in general [00:23:33] and I think that's why we've seen this action of late with the Husees taking the red sea [00:23:37] coastal areas and now forcing Saudi Arabia to come back [00:23:41] uh so Saudi Arabia has a big decision ahead them uh they need to ask [00:23:45] themselves are we going to continue to manage this conflict as we have for [00:23:49] you - two decades, this goes back to [00:23:51] 2015, where they just want to manage it to a stalemate, because that's [00:23:55] certainly been their approach, that's certainly been the Umani government [00:23:58] approach, however estatlement has got them vulnerable where they're at [00:24:02] now, because Iran over that same time period has been [00:24:05] supplying via the RGC, the hoothies are [00:24:08] ballistic missiles and drones and they're coming under attack, so so [00:24:12] far Saudi Arabia in terms of this firm response that their defense [00:24:16] spokesman made this morning or yesterday, depending on what... time zone [00:24:20] you're in, um, you, if it's just going to be more air strikes, if it's only going to be [00:24:24] limitted ground type support uh for operations to [00:24:27] retake territory controlled by the hoothies, I don't think much [00:24:31] changes and Pakistan itself, as part of this Mecca [00:24:34] agreement is also going to have to be deciding whether or not they're going to [00:24:38] hear to their own 2015 decision not to involve [00:24:42] themselves in offensive operations uh in Yemen, but [00:24:46] simply to resort to or I mean to refrain them. [00:24:50] from that, but just to basically be there to defend holy sites [00:24:53] and and civilian sites within the kingdom of Saudi Arabia [00:24:57] itself, so Saudi Arabia has a big choice here, it's not clear which [00:25:01] way they're going to do, but I do think they need to be doing more air streaks, I [00:25:05] think they need to be considering the introduction of of ground forces [00:25:09] if only a limited basis and and and quickly here I think they also need [00:25:13] to be talking to the new eco partners how they can bring this about, because [00:25:17] if not is just going to be rins and repeat in. arabia in the region will [00:25:20] keep facing this crisis, the huties are not going away unless they're [00:25:32] the us position with hoodis now, there was an [00:25:36] earlier stars, so we know for fact few weeks back there [00:25:40] was a statement made by president himself [00:25:43] that perhaps there was some sort of an engagement when it [00:25:46] comes to the US and hooutis and hootis didn't want the [00:25:50] US to come after them, now looking at [00:25:54] this spec specific [00:25:56] attack, president Trump was himself [00:26:00] asked whether they could be a... us military involvement and he [00:26:04] said we may, it's not an official confirmation as [00:26:08] we do have clarity on that, but what could be the [00:26:11] likelihood the US involvement at this [00:26:14] stage going against the hoothies? do you [00:26:17] think the US just before the midterm elections could afford to be involved [00:26:21] militarily on another front, just when it is [00:26:25] involved directly with Iran on the other [00:26:31] you back to March of 2025. from March to May 2025, the United States was [00:26:35] involved an operation called Ruff Rider in which they bombed right, [00:26:38] hoothy targets for the better part of 45 days and if you [00:26:41] recall when the cease fire was announced the [00:26:45] uh the agreement for the most part was the houthies said we won't we won't attack US [00:26:49] ships if you stop bombing us right and that was it and that supposedly was the [00:26:53] end the operation an operation by the way which the Saudi Arabia [00:26:57] government sat back and watch and did not participate uh they're [00:27:01] probably thinking they probably should have done that uh [00:27:23] so there may be some additional strikes that occur. i don't necessarily think he's going to be chasing [00:27:27] hoothi, i think he's going to be chasing the source [00:27:30] and the source in this case in my opinion. is [00:27:32] Iran [00:27:36] right, okay, col sweet, when we try to understand the overall [00:27:40] scheme of things, when we talk about what were the objectives which [00:27:44] was said by Trump administration, when we talk about its [00:27:47] invasion against Iran so far more [00:27:51] than eight, [00:27:53] more than eight months into that particular conflict, there is [00:27:56] announcement that perhaps the newer strikes [00:27:59] might come after the mid-term. [00:28:02] elections: now we have also seen the approval [00:28:06] ratings for President Trump going down before the midterm [00:28:10] elections. now if if in case there happens [00:28:14] to be a military involvement on part the US to [00:28:18] support Saudi Arabia against the hoothies, what sort [00:28:22] of an impact this military involvement do you think it could [00:28:25] have generally on the public opinion just before the [00:28:29] elections? yeah, look, I see it. two [00:28:32] ways, okay, and I'll go back to what Marcus said, if it's just [00:28:36] retiratory strikes, if it's just hitting buildings and uh, [00:28:40] and [00:28:40] and and showing battle damage assessment videos to the American public and how successful we [00:28:44] were at blowing things up, then I don't think the impact is anything be quite [00:28:48] honest with, because it doesn't achieve anything, if the impact is fall [00:28:52] of regime, if the impact is the opening the straight because there's [00:28:55] nobody firing into either the bob uh, [00:28:59] bob almond deb or into the straight of harmous. and safe passages [00:29:03] occurring [00:29:04] and we're seeing a sense peace break out through the Middle East, I think it has a [00:29:08] positive impact, but right now the targets [00:29:10] at least, as axios reported, the possible targets that the [00:29:14] president mentioned earlier were Iranian energy, Iranian [00:29:18] infrastructure and nuclear targets, none them included the [00:29:21] IRGC by name, and none them include the possibility of taking the [00:29:25] regime down, so retaliatory strikes and massive assaults [00:29:29] up to now, as you just said, eight months into a conflict. haven't [00:29:33] achieved the desired result, in this case the desired result [00:29:36] will be the fall the regime. what it has done is limit their [00:29:40] abilities to respond conventionally, but they still [00:29:44] have, as far as we understand, they still have some enriched uranium, and they still [00:29:48] have asymmetric capability that threatens the entire [00:29:51] region, and addition, it's been threatening great Britain and other [00:29:55] allies throughout Europe, because their ability to leverage proxys and [00:29:59] sleeper cells, so Iran continues to be a problem, [00:30:02] and un' he addresses the problem, which is the [00:30:05] regime, I don't think he gets much headway in the United [00:30:20] what's your assessment, what is the likelihood the US getting [00:30:24] militarily involved in support of Saudi Arabia against Saudies given the [00:30:28] fact there was an earlier statement or a stance on the part of president [00:30:31] himself. when he said publicly that hooties have [00:30:35] asked him not to go behind them after them [00:30:39] sorry right now i really doubt that [00:30:42] president Trump is going to be willing to initiate uh any wide scale [00:30:46] attacks at this point in support of Saudi Arabia ahead the [00:30:49] midterms - simply because he's trying to manage oil prices and by [00:30:53] extension gas prices to the average American uh uh consumer [00:30:57] and ultimately voter uh now
