[00:00:03] to say that we are honoring, in your opinion, what is the message being conveyed through this honoring to the Palestinian intellectual in general and to Palestinian culture in particular? I mean, usually in Palestine and in the Arab world, perhaps, honoring happens after departure. We remember the virtues and regret that we did not honor our writers, poets, and thinkers while they were alive. To give me a rose while I am alive, as a writer and innovator, and to place a hand of love and goodness on my shoulder is better than placing an extensive and wide and lavish garden on my grave. Therefore, the joy was immense for our professors yesterday, who grew on the branch of the founding battalion, and we grew on the branch of their great and lofty and culturally and intellectually solid meaning. The joy was overwhelming that this honoring came at this difficult moment to push them and us to bear the great responsibility and to say that we pay attention to our intellectuals because they are the popular army in the Palestine Liberation Organization as unions and federations, and the General Union of Writers accepts nothing less than to be the vanguard with the Journalists' Syndicate. We fly with two wings, and yesterday, my brother and friend Nasser Abu Bakr, the head of the Journalists' Syndicate, was also by our side, with whom I walk in parallel steps in Palestine and beyond to affirm the lofty saying of Palestine and its broad meaning and defend this meaning, because I always say that Palestine is the meaning of meaning and the metaphor of metaphors. Therefore, the responsibility is great for intellectuals, for journalists, because we are fighting the most dangerous and fiercest occupation that has reproduced death and destruction throughout history on the body of Palestine, and what happened in Gaza and what is happening in the surrounding area of escalations and engineering and re- design, and يعني disassembling the disassembled and fragmenting the fragmented with a new Sykes-Picot. Palestine will thwart it every time, because it is, as I said, a heavenly secret and a glorious meaning, whose origin lies with the noble martyrs in the long history of struggle, and since the establishment of the Liberation Organization. And here I remember Ahmed Al-Shukeiri, the founder and builder. Ahmed Al-Shukeiri, Abu Mazen, who laid all the foundations of the popular organizations and the establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and paid attention to the research center in his second decision in establishing the Palestine Liberation Organization, moving up towards the Union of Palestinian Writers and all federations and unions. And between Abu Mazen Ahmed Al-Shukeiri and President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen, much water has flowed under the river of Palestinian culture and nationalism. We, as intellectuals, must not block the channel that some want to make ambiguous and shallow and muddy. Rather, we want it clear as the eye of this Palestine, which gazes at its future with desired and complete freedom, fully complete. Thank you, Murad Al-Sudani, the poet and also the Secretary of the Palestinian Writers Union. Thank you. The occupation forces continue their aggression on Qalandia refugee camp and the town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem, for the second day in a row, amidst widespread raids and the arrest of a number of young men. Our correspondent reported, quoting the Red Crescent Society, that 16 citizens had been injured since the start of the occupation forces' aggression on Qalandia refugee camp and the town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem. In this context, the occupation forces fired sound bombs at journalists at the camp's entrance before driving them away from the vicinity of the main entrance and forcing them to leave the area in an attempt to prevent media coverage of what is happening inside. The occupation forces also closed the Jerusalem street connecting the town of Kafr Aqab and Qalandia refugee camp, as well as the road leading to the camp from the Sikal area, and prevented journalists and media outlets from reaching its vicinity and imposed strict restrictions on media coverage of the events. In the context of the continuous aggression, the occupation forces assaulted a number of young men and abused them after arresting them during the storming of the camp and the town of Kafr Aqab. neighboring. So, let's look at the details regarding these repeated incursions into the Qalandia refugee camp area and also the town of Kafr Aqab and the effects of these incursions on the area in general and on the citizens who reside in these areas. With us is Muhammad Aslan, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Popular Committee for Qalandia Camp Services. Welcome. So, for the second consecutive day, the Israeli aggression continues on the camp. Sorry, Qalandia camp and the town of Kafr Aqab. And therefore, in the beginning, let's look at the most prominent details and field developments. Good evening to you all and all viewers of Palestine TV. Exactly what you said. The aggression has been continuous since yesterday until now, with an escalating pace. We have monitored a series of attacks through storming homes, smashing their contents and destroying them. The assault by beating and brutalizing young men in a barbaric and savage manner. Preventing ambulance crews and relief crews from reaching the residents of Qalandia camp. A frantic campaign, I mean, affecting trees, people, and stones. Everything in Qalandia camp is targeted, unfortunately. This is a crazy, frantic campaign with no basis in truth. It is also, I mean, we note here that we refute all Israeli claims that this campaign is a security campaign. We firmly believe that this campaign, I mean, its motives are fundamentally political, and we do not want to become, as refugees and camps, fuel for the upcoming election campaign of the right-wing extremist government in Israel in October next. We were informed of the most prominent details regarding these Israeli attacks and Israeli goals in the region, but let me also welcome Marouf Al-Rifai, the media advisor to the Jerusalem Governorate. Welcome. And I turn to you with a question regarding the field events that are happening on a large scale in Qalandia camp and the town of Kafr Aqab. Therefore, what are their implications for the Jerusalem region in general, and what are your latest follow-ups regarding these repeated and ongoing attacks? Thank you and I thank you for the addition. As my brother Abu Saeed mentioned, the humanitarian situation in Qalandia camp and the area of north of Jerusalem is catastrophic. The occupation forces have been present and storming Qalandia camp since yesterday dawn, preventing residents and families from leaving their homes. There are some families who are still trapped in their homes and are prohibited from moving, and some families are even prohibited from accessing the kitchen. One family contacted us saying that the occupation soldiers present in their home prevent them from preparing food for their children and family members. Therefore, we and our brothers in the Palestinian Liaison intervened to allow them even to enter the kitchen. There are also some families who, I mean, do not have food, water, or medicine, and there are catastrophic humanitarian cases that have been evacuated, such as kidney patients and some pregnant women who were on the verge of giving birth to new babies. Therefore, the humanitarian situation is a disaster. But I want to say, my sister Dana, that this campaign is a purely political campaign. Before this date, there was incitement from ministers in Netanyahu's government, who said that we would launch a large military campaign against Balata camp in Nablus, Al-Jalazoun camp in Ramallah, and Qalandia camp in the city of Jerusalem. This campaign, which did not come as a surprise to us in the Jerusalem Governorate, we were expecting it because we knew the extent of the great incitement and the extent of the electoral propaganda that Knesset members and Netanyahu's government members are competing over at the expense of our people in order to launch this military campaign. This campaign has several goals, including passing a number of settlement projects in this area, primarily what was announced regarding the establishment of settlement projects on the land of Jerusalem International Airport and Road 45, which is almost completed and will connect settlements east of Ramallah and East Jerusalem with Jerusalem settlements through the tunnel that has been completed below Qalandia Airport. And there is also the construction of more than 9,000 settlement units on the land of Jerusalem International Airport. There are demolition notices that have already been implemented in Qalandia village and in Kafr Aqab and in Qalandia. And we also do not forget, I mean, the attempt to target UNRWA in this area. It is true that in this campaign, the institute was not, I mean, stormed, and it was not attacked, but there is great incitement, especially by the occupation municipality in Jerusalem, to seize the institute's buildings and use them for municipal purposes. You spoke in detail, Mr. Marouf, but I will turn to Muhammad Aslan, I mean, in your capacity as members of the Popular Committee specifically for Qalandia services, I mean, how do you deal with the needs of the residents, especially in these circumstances? [00:00:08] cauldron in this [00:00:11] line of abuse and this barbarism in [00:00:15] agreement to facilitate [00:00:24] to a new [00:00:26] the citizens episode of "After the Event". We will [00:00:35] and translation. Palestinian cover the most prominent field events and analyze them. [00:00:37] leaving home. We start I told you, preventing access with this [00:00:40] news, where President Mahmoud Abbas honored a number of national figures, [00:00:44] including the founders [00:00:47] for us to integrate with cultural in general of the Palestinian Writers and Authors Union, by awarding them medals of [00:00:50] culture, science, and arts. This is in appreciation of their [00:00:55] pioneering and active role in preserving the Palestinian national [00:00:57] identity and solidifying its presence in its [00:01:01] Arab and international depth. So, [00:01:05] to understand the importance [00:01:08] of this specific event [00:01:10] and this [00:01:13] honoring, we have [00:01:18] And yesterday, we talked with with us in the studio the poet Murad Al-Sudani. Welcome. In the beginning, what are the implications of President Mahmoud [00:01:21] Abbas honoring the founders of the Palestinian [00:01:25] Writers and Authors Union and also the national figures [00:01:29] and dignitaries [00:01:32] with medals of culture, science, [00:01:34] and arts [00:01:37] to the founding battalion, at this difficult and bitter moment in the country's history, as it is on the verge [00:01:40] of confrontation and defiance, [00:01:43] ink, and resistance in the homeland and diaspora? [00:01:47] This honoring confirms the national identity [00:01:50] and resistant [00:01:53] culture. This honoring comes for a multitude of free souls [00:01:56] and great names in Palestinian culture, from [00:01:59] the founders of the General Union of Palestinian [00:02:02] Writers and Authors in the occupied land. [00:02:04] Under the conditions of the occupation, they laid [00:02:11] to the liberated prisoners, the foundations of national and cultural identity, along with their colleagues who [00:02:16] that are not veiled, continued Palestine's long path and resistant culture. Indeed, [00:02:19] of its people, and its mountains also paying attention to the year [00:02:23] 1966, Khairi [00:02:25] artistic towers or for Hammad, the first president of the Palestinian Writers Union, after [00:02:28] the establishment of the Palestine [00:02:31] and ink this Liberation Organization, with attention from Al-Shukeiri, so that the Palestinian Writers Union would be one of the pillars [00:02:35] translation and extensions and bases of the Palestine Liberation Organization, [00:02:39] and global meaning. Yes, I mean, this line of Palestine, across ascending the long path of great [00:02:42] writers who still leave us [00:02:46] all Palestinian the lasting legacy of the founding battalion, [00:02:49] the late Kamal Nasser and Naji Alloush, and [00:02:53] also [00:02:55] based on this many great names who left their mark. This [00:02:59] honoring was for [00:03:02] the present founders, [00:03:06] we are about to launch front that Professor Dr. Samir Ishhad Al-Tamimi, [00:03:11] befitting Palestine, culture and in conjunction with who left us this legacy and this heritage of struggle [00:03:14] and giving. And [00:03:18] also the great Professor [00:03:20] Asaad [00:03:22] Al-Asaad, Dr. Al-Mutawakkil Taha, [00:03:26] the short story writer and novelist Mahmoud Shuqair, our master writer in [00:03:30] Jerusalem, and [00:03:32] Zaki Darwish from occupied [00:03:36] now, and therefore there was established by the founders of Palestine in 1948, the brother of the poet Mahmoud Darwish, who was overshadowed by his proximity to Mahmoud Darwish, in addition [00:03:40] to Tawfiq Fayyad, this neglected pigeon who presented a struggle and high [00:03:44] and balanced culture, [00:03:47] in addition [00:03:51] and there, to Mohammed Nassar, by honoring whom we honor all writers [00:03:53] and authors of Gaza [00:03:56] in this who cling to its burning As I said once, sand with their hearts [00:03:59] and write not on behalf of the writers of Palestine and their Arab [00:04:02] depth, but on behalf of all free people in the world. Therefore, thanks [00:04:06] are extended to the President for this continuous attention [00:04:09] in this [00:04:10] is being practiced today honoring, and to the Vice President, [00:04:15] the camp, hoping that our my brother Hussein Al-Sheikh Abu everything that is happening in Jihad, and to my brother [00:04:18] have the ability to provide this Dr. Majdi Al-Khalidi and the General Supervisor of Official Media, [00:04:22] my brother officials at the local Abu Qais Ahmed Assaf. This [00:04:26] honoring is timely. [00:04:29] And this is my question: What does this honoring mean for [00:04:32] people in the world in defending writers and also for Palestinian culture? Honoring a writer [00:04:36] while he is alive, such as these [00:04:37] revered and high souls, is an honor for the entire Palestinian [00:04:40] culture in the homeland and diaspora. And we tried [00:04:44] expulsion from through also, [00:04:47] I don't forget [00:04:51] the writer and journalist Ahmed Abdel Rahman, who was also at the forefront [00:04:55] of the honoring [00:04:58] for your indulgence that I will not be polite in this gates in this in this context, and he is who he is in the Palestinian Revolution and the presidency of the Palestinian [00:05:02] towards today, Writers and Journalists Union. [00:05:05] from the ashes of legends Therefore, honoring ten founding writers is an honor for the entire Palestinian [00:05:09] culture across the map of Palestine, homeland [00:05:12] and diaspora. And it is an affirmation that culture is [00:05:16] the last thing left after everything else falls, and we are in [00:05:19] the fortress of culture, not defending Palestine and its [00:05:23] narrative and its constants only, but [00:05:26] defending the Arab context and the plundered ceiling of Arabism. [00:05:29] Yes, moving towards the free people of the world, because Palestine [00:05:33] is the pride of the universe and the secret of the Arab world, and it is the vanguard [00:05:37] that has been able, since the beginning of the century, to [00:05:40] establish culture, awareness, [00:05:43] culture in preserving the Palestinian national identity. Therefore, how [00:05:47] does Palestinian culture today embody [00:05:50] one of the forms of Palestinian narrative, and it is today [00:05:54] a very important [00:05:57] part [00:05:59] of [00:06:02] the daily Palestinian events? The Palestinian narrative has become, [00:06:06] one can say, a global event, [00:06:09] addressed by everyone [00:06:12] abroad, whether international media or others. [00:06:16] Therefore, the importance of the Palestinian national [00:06:19] narrative today, and how Palestinian [00:06:22] culture embodies one of the forms of resistance and a part of the Palestinian narrative? [00:06:26] Palestine's spilled and shed blood, which [00:06:29] is a palm for palms, extends its reach [00:06:33] to all corners of the [00:06:35] earth to announce the existence of liberation [00:06:39] for this dear and precious country, [00:06:42] and for the Palestinian people to take their right based on their history, memory, [00:06:46] and identity in the face [00:06:48] of the opposing occupation [00:06:51] and its media and deceptive [00:06:54] falsehoods. From here, this honoring concluded [00:06:58] with His Excellency the President, that he would present [00:07:01] the heavy burden of the friend Dr. Mufid Arquob [00:07:04] with the great Palestinian narrative to represent [00:07:07] the entire institution and to represent [00:07:11] many groups that have tried [00:07:14] and are still trying to write the Palestinian [00:07:17] narrative in more than 600 pages of [00:07:21] large format. He presented the great Palestinian narrative [00:07:24] to the President as an achievement for the General Union of Palestinian [00:07:27] Writers and Authors, and as a dedication to this [00:07:31] comprehensive, aesthetic, and collective [00:07:34] author who was able, during three years and six months, [00:07:38] to close the door of his house from evening until morning [00:07:41] to complete, document, [00:07:44] narrative carried by the details, effects, [00:07:47] history, memory, land, and stone, and all [00:07:50] the evidence in deconstructing the Zionist narrative [00:07:54] and to respond to all these falsehoods with evidence, [00:07:57] proofs, and testimonies on [00:08:01] the land of gazelles and purple. Therefore, this [00:08:04] narrative comes within the framework of what the General Union of Palestinian [00:08:07] Writers and Authors is working on to unify [00:08:10] Palestinian culture in the homeland, ascending towards the Arab world [00:08:14] to reach the global cultural [00:08:18] in affirmation of the resistant Palestinian [00:08:22] Palestinian diplomacy that is engaged with the occupying [00:08:26] adversary, because at this bitter moment, we are subjected [00:08:30] not only to the shaping of consciousness but to the melting [00:08:33] of consciousness and the dispossession of Palestinian consciousness. They want [00:08:37] to erase geography and also to hollow out history, [00:08:40] but with the strength of history and the resistant Palestinian culture that [00:08:46] the first battalion, who wrote with their hot [00:08:49] ink and with their blood, [00:08:52] like Hanna Maqbool, who said, "With blood we write for Palestine" in the founding of the Writers Union in 1972, [00:08:56] and two months before the founding, the fighting [00:09:00] hero Ghassan Kanafani was martyred, [00:09:03] and then Majed Abu Sharar and Ali [00:09:07] Fouda and Hani Jawhariya and many [00:09:11] others who fell were martyred [00:09:14] to ascend by assassination by Golda [00:09:17] Meir's decision. Therefore, where does the Writers [00:09:20] and Authors Union stand today? What [00:09:24] are the most prominent challenges facing this union today? [00:09:28] In fact, thank you for the patience of the President and the Vice President [00:09:31] and the attendees who were on a space [00:09:35] of stable space [00:09:38] that we always say that the intellectual is the first to be killed and the last to [00:09:42] die. And he is the one who guards the dream from erosion, [00:09:45] and he is steadfast on the constants of this Palestine, its fire, [00:09:48] and its confrontation. Therefore, there is no alternative to freedom except more of [00:09:52] it. Therefore, the freedom of Palestinian intellectuals [00:09:55] is boundless. The freedom of Palestinian intellectuals is [00:09:58] essential in that they have offered, throughout these years, throughout a century [00:10:02] from Noah's ark until this moment, all contexts [00:10:05] of creativity and testimonies and vanguards [00:10:08] from our writers and authors [00:10:11] who wrote with the ink of their blood in Gaza are still giving [00:10:15] the world a great lesson in the meaning of heroism. [00:10:18] Therefore, I offer my condolences for the martyrs of Palestinian [00:10:22] culture who were subjected to genocide, intellectuals, journalists, [00:10:25] and academics in the hundreds. But [00:10:29] the ink of their blood is still giving us this glowing [00:10:33] context. Therefore, the challenge is great for intellectuals [00:10:36] at this moment, against all those who [00:10:40] try to dispossess their consciousness [00:10:43] from opposing contexts and from [00:10:46] speakers from their pockets and beneficiaries of others, [00:10:50] because the true intellectual does not rent [00:10:53] a heart or a pen, and even if he objects, [00:10:56] disagrees, and strives, he strives under [00:11:00] the ceiling of the country and the ceiling of Palestine that accommodates all of us. Therefore, [00:11:03] intellectuals must cling, once again, with their hearts [00:11:07] and souls to the burning land of Palestine, [00:11:10] which is its secret and the secret of the earth to [00:11:14] heaven, and its highest, most precious, purest, and most enduring message, [00:11:17] not to rent their pens for ill-gotten political money, [00:11:20] nor to be directed by [00:11:23] some [00:11:26] institutions and some [00:11:28] deconstructionists, and I don't say thinkers, who [00:11:32] target consciousness in Palestine and target the Palestine [00:11:35] Liberation Organization and target Palestinian culture by distorting, [00:11:39] twisting, and falsifying it. And I say [00:11:42] to Palestinian intellectuals that they may eat [00:11:45] themselves from extreme hunger, [00:11:48] but they have not eaten from others' pots, [00:11:51] meaning a free woman starves rather than eats [00:11:55] from her breasts. And this culture is considered [00:11:59] little because it is expansive and comprehensive, and because it is carried by the greatest [00:12:02] secret of this Palestine and by the high, [00:12:06] luxuriant, shady, and extended power of its culture. [00:12:10] Therefore, we, as intellectuals, still believe that we are on [00:12:14] the forefront of culture and confrontation, and this is a responsibility. [00:12:17] We are advancing an initiative to deconstruct [00:12:21] the occupying narrative, relying on a cherished [00:12:25] and precious legacy that was laid down by the masters [00:12:29] and gave us all this momentum and reach. And here I send greetings [00:12:34] writers and authors, whom we include in this day in [00:12:37] the preparatory committee in Egypt for the purpose of [00:12:41] establishing a branch of the Writers Union in Egypt, after we finished [00:12:44] with the Syrian branch. Towards Lebanon, at the end of the month, we will [00:12:48] establish this branch to have [00:12:51] harmony and unity for Palestinian [00:12:54] culture between the homeland and the diaspora. The General Union [00:12:58] of Writers and Authors, and I say to Palestinian intellectuals [00:13:01] that the complete and comprehensive [00:13:04] this map in the homeland, along with [00:13:07] our colleagues, writers and authors, who are subjected to [00:13:10] displacement and to bitter, [00:13:13] deadly, painful, and hungry exiles [00:13:17] and need, and all forms of displacement, estrangement, [00:13:20] and dispossession, we have a responsibility to pay attention to them. [00:13:23] From here came the activation of the branches [00:13:27] to unify the narrative, to be united as one [00:13:31] man, to shoot from the same bow a single meaning [00:13:36] a high and balanced culture that does not accept [00:13:39] diminution or shrinkage, because it is as complete [00:13:42] as the call of the martyrs, prisoners, wounded, [00:13:46] and exiles, in a full return [00:13:49] to the entire land. This is the responsibility of the Palestinian [00:13:52] intellectual, who is strategically [00:13:55] positioned to establish and stand firm on the certainties [00:13:59] of Palestine and the strategy [00:14:02] of the organic intellectual who critically transcends [00:14:06] the self-serving intellectual who speaks from his pocket [00:14:09] and extends the thread [00:14:12] of benefit from here because this Palestine [00:14:15] only accepts an intellectual [00:14:19] who continues to carry this banner high to present to [00:14:22] generations that we are on [00:14:30] one path. One could say, in light of this fierce war on the Gaza Strip and what [00:14:35] on the West Bank, what is the role of Palestinian [00:14:37] culture in clarifying these [00:14:41] two matters? One could say, [00:14:44] the intellectual, as I said, has a great responsibility, [00:14:47] and the true intellectual [00:14:49] is the seer of the tribe, who [00:14:52] foresees and ponders [00:14:55] the future and looks with his heart and soul [00:14:58] in order to announce [00:15:01] and warn in a way that befits this [00:15:05] country that is subjected, as I said, to [00:15:09] history, and erasing geography, and separating [00:15:13] Gaza from the West Bank, and turning the West Bank into isolated enclaves, more than [00:15:16] 1300 checkpoints and electronic [00:15:21] homeland, turning the homeland into a large prison, just as Gaza [00:15:25] has become a large grave. But [00:15:30] and from this increasing rubble, [00:15:34] the blood of the Palestinian intellectual [00:15:37] rises [00:15:40] the spearhead in the confrontation [00:15:43] and the vanguard that will not be a bridge of normalization with the Arab [00:15:47] world, but a bridge of communication to mobilize all [00:15:50] cultural energies in Palestine, the Arab world, and the world. [00:15:54] And this gathering of the energies of the free [00:15:58] people of the world is aimed at Palestine [00:16:01] and its cause, its justice, and its complete freedom from [00:16:05] the evil of the occupation. And what Palestinian intellectuals are doing, [00:16:08] what the General Union is doing in its activities in this world [00:16:11] in all arenas and spaces to attract intellectuals [00:16:14] and institutions. And during the past two years, we hosted the International [00:16:18] Writers' Gathering, headquartered in Russia. We hosted [00:16:21] the All-Africa Union, with more than 54 countries. [00:16:24] We hosted the BRICS Writers' Association. [00:16:27] We hosted major publishing houses [00:16:30] from Athens and Greece [00:16:34] from different places so that we can be. Everyone who comes [00:16:38] to Palestine will write a different text because they will see [00:16:41] the truth that the occupation prevents [00:16:44] them from seeing. Therefore, we are concerned with conveying [00:16:47] Palestine to the world as much as we can and conveying the world to Palestine. [00:16:53] the President that since the beginning of the century, [00:16:57] Palestinian writers, authors, and translators were the ones [00:17:00] who carried and translated all the world's literature [00:17:03] into Arabic. Therefore, it is illogical [00:17:07] that after so long, there is no translation institution. And the President [00:17:10] blessed this matter so that we can undertake the task of translating [00:17:14] Palestinian literature and narrative, which is carried by [00:17:17] history, memory, heritage, and legacy, [00:17:19] and testimonies and effects, [00:17:23] to the world, and translate Palestinian literature because this occupation [00:17:26] spends 10 times and more than [00:17:29] the Arab world on translation. Therefore, there are new projects for [00:17:32] the Writers' Union, [00:17:36] foremost of which is translation. And [00:17:39] foremost of which is to write about Palestine [00:17:42] with an unswerving tongue and with an unhired [00:17:46] pen [00:17:50] and with hearts [00:17:54] but are pure from the evil of this occupation, because [00:17:57] we have a great responsibility. We do not write for [00:18:02] art for art's sake. Writing in the world is with cold ink. Writing in [00:18:06] Palestine is with blood. This will be focused on in the coming period. [00:18:10] As I told you at the beginning, [00:18:13] because we are at the forefront of this matter since the beginning [00:18:16] of the century. After a century, we must [00:18:19] re-energize all translation efforts and attract [00:18:24] translators in the homeland and diaspora. [00:18:27] And with us are Arab translators and translators from the world [00:18:30] to convey the suffering of Palestine [00:18:33] and its immense, overwhelming, [00:18:36] opulent, and wounding pain [00:18:40] to all parts of the world, to educate about what Palestinian intellectuals [00:18:43] are subjected to and what the Palestinian people are subjected to, and what [00:18:46] is subjected to, what is subjected to, the heroic writers in Palestine are subjected to deletion, [00:18:50] erasure, and cancellation. Therefore, translation [00:18:53] and reverse translation through what we have done with more than [00:18:56] 20 agreements in the world with major Arab and international [00:19:00] institutions and federations, we need to convey. How [00:19:03] will this be done internationally? [00:19:07] Through the relations we have built, and as [00:19:11] I said, there is the global cultural front whose foundations were laid [00:19:14] by the General Union and my colleagues in the General Secretariat and all free people [00:19:18] with us, writers and creators in Palestine, from [00:19:20] original writers who [00:19:23] are still writing with their [00:19:26] hot ink to convey this narrative. Therefore, [00:19:30] we, through these relations, through the global cultural front, through [00:19:34] the Palestine International Poetry Prize with the World Poetry Movement in [00:19:38] Colombia, which will be launched soon after we announced [00:19:41] it in the past months, we can [00:19:44] attract all pens and introduce Palestine [00:19:48] and gather all voices that wrote during the genocide [00:19:51] that I call the catastrophe because language failed [00:19:54] to describe what happened in Gaza, so I said that it was a catastrophe, [00:19:58] bitter and dark, leaving [00:20:02] nothing behind, that befell our people and our great nation, who represent [00:20:06] the plundered Arab ceiling and all free [00:20:09] the desired freedom. And freedom in the world is incomplete unless [00:20:13] the freedom of Palestine and its people is complete. Today, we know that the world is moving [00:20:17] towards electronic digitization. And what you talked about [00:20:20] is very important, which is the translation of literary works. [00:20:24] One could say, the Palestinian heritage internationally. [00:20:27] Therefore, how can we balance [00:20:30] or balance between [00:20:33] electronic digitization that [00:20:36] the world is moving [00:20:39] and disseminating this Palestinian heritage [00:20:43] and ensuring its reach to the entire [00:20:47] international community? We will benefit from all [00:20:50] institutions, and the Supreme Council for Translation [00:20:54] and Culture in Egypt and in various Arab countries and in [00:20:57] the world, and specialized translation institutions [00:21:00] to ensure integration and the signing of a cooperation [00:21:05] the access of this heritage, this legacy, and these [00:21:09] cultural and creative contributions [00:21:11] of our writers and authors to [00:21:14] the world, establishing the meaning [00:21:18] of Palestine, glorious [00:21:20] and dazzling in various contexts. The issue of digitization is an important [00:21:24] extension in delivering this matter, in addition to writers participating in [00:21:27] Arab and international book fairs. [00:21:31] So these are detailed, [00:21:34] complementary contexts [00:21:37] diplomacy engaged with the opponent through popular [00:21:41] cultural diplomacy carried out by intellectuals [00:21:45] through their cultural and creative contributions [00:21:48] and their intellectual and creative output to reach all parts of the world. [00:21:51] The countries you will target, [00:21:55] from the last [00:21:58] two years, in fact, the General [00:22:01] Union reached from Cuba to Venezuela to [00:22:05] Nicaragua to Colombia to Brazil. [00:22:08] And soon a book translated from [00:22:11] Portuguese will be published after signing a cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Writers Union [00:22:14] to include 66 [00:22:18] male and female writers from the Gaza Strip, translated [00:22:21] into Portuguese, in addition [00:22:25] to Russia, in addition to South Africa, also in this communication [00:22:28] and honors that were granted. And here I say that [00:22:31] during ten years, thanks to the President, the General [00:22:35] Union, with its recommendations, granted more than [00:22:37] 50 medals of culture, [00:22:41] science, and arts, Palestinian, Arab, and international, [00:22:44] for Palestine to say to those who stood by it, [00:22:47] to those who supported it, thank [00:22:50] you and great gratitude. This gratitude is due [00:22:54] because Palestine attracts love [00:22:58] and the freedom of the world to its right [00:23:01] and its truth, and also it stands and speaks [00:23:05] with its heart, its soul, its conscience, and the heroism [00:23:09] and plains, and all this heavenly dust. Thank you [00:23:13] to those who stood with Palestine, and loyalty is only repaid with loyalty, and loyalty to the free. [00:23:16] Yes, and based on the countries you [00:23:20] mentioned, regarding what was published in these [00:23:24] countries, the results of this publication so far, your observations. We cannot [00:23:28] truly count the number of [00:23:32] poems and what the World Poetry Movement has done, [00:23:35] with which we are in partnership, and we honored its great poet [00:23:39] president, Fernando Rendón, who for more than 30 years has been [00:23:42] making the flag of Palestine the first and last word [00:23:45] at the Medellín International Poetry Festival. And we signed a cooperation agreement and honored him with the Order of [00:23:54] Culture. We say that the World Poetry Movement, [00:23:58] with what it announced during the war of extermination, [00:24:02] thousands of poems were written [00:24:04] in the world in different languages for Palestine. [00:24:08] From here, translation is important, and from here, [00:24:11] empowering the Translation House and the Supreme Council [00:24:14] for Translation in Palestine to be this [00:24:18] important extension to convey this suffering to and from [00:24:21] Palestine, because what has been translated about Palestine must be [00:24:25] conveyed to it and preserved in the Palestinian National Library [00:24:28] and known in the Palestinian cultural scene. And what [00:24:31] has been written about Palestine from here by writers, authors, creators, [00:24:35] and thinkers, we must convey it to living [00:24:38] languages so that we can inform the world [00:24:41] about the Palestinian cause and confront all these falsehoods. [00:24:46] year alone, this occupation spent [00:24:50] 700 [00:24:52] 771 or 31, sorry, [00:24:56] million dollars to counter the Palestinian [00:24:59] narrative in America alone this year. [00:25:02] Therefore, they are working [00:25:06] through directed money, and through awards, [00:25:08] and through conferences, and through what [00:25:12] they are doing to support [00:25:15] their distorted narrative in different places in the world [00:25:18] and providing all these extensions and awards for [00:25:22] this purpose. Therefore, we say that we must [00:25:26] empower intellectuals and empower Palestinian [00:25:29] culture and empower the official institution, because the Palestinian [00:25:33] revolution, since its inception, whose high [00:25:37] foundations were laid and whose vision was solidified [00:25:40] and who supported the political and revolutionary narrative, [00:25:44] are the intellectuals from Noah [00:25:47] Ibrahim to the martyred poet and knight Abdel Rahim [00:25:51] Mahmoud, to Kamal Nasser and, as I said, Ghassan Kanafani [00:25:54] and Naji Alloush and Hanna Maqbool and Khaled Abu Khaled and Youssef [00:25:58] Al-Khatib and Izz El-Din Al-Manasra and Mourid Barghouti and Irshad Abu [00:26:05] Shawer and Tawfiq Fayyad and Walid Abu Bakr and [00:26:08] a large number. This is concerning the exiles. As for the homeland, a continuous [00:26:14] writers who left their [00:26:16] creative contributions from which we, as new generations, [00:26:20] draw. And this leads me to [00:26:22] the next question. When we specifically recall [00:26:26] the names of the founders, we talk about the most prominent [00:26:29] achievements. [00:26:32] I say that the wealth, and those who preserved the Palestinian [00:26:36] national identity, are these writers [00:26:39] and authors who, after the Nakba, [00:26:43] spread and dispersed across all spans [00:26:46] and spaces in the Arab world and the world, [00:26:50] establishing and cultivating the narrative [00:26:53] of Palestine and its culture. And those who remained [00:26:56] in Palestine remained true to my covenant and Palestine's covenant, [00:26:59] and those who remained in occupied Palestine, and these I [00:27:03] call the elite of the anthem of writers and authors, [00:27:07] refused to have their culture impregnated with anything other [00:27:10] than the Arabic language, despite the internalization of defeat, [00:27:13] in the words of Adel Samara, whose book "Under the Line of [00:27:17] 48" we will launch soon, and how the cultural [00:27:19] elites were destroyed. Therefore, [00:27:23] the intellectuals in Palestine are on the straight [00:27:26] path of Palestine, and as I said, on its covenant [00:27:29] and its meaning, and its overwhelming [00:27:32] and high metaphor. And they continue [00:27:36] to support their souls [00:27:40] and they are still continuing this long journey until [00:27:43] the desired freedom that befits Palestine on the completion of the map, [00:27:47] and we announce the full return of our people, [00:27:50] our nation, our writers, our creators, [00:27:54] and our martyrs to return fully to [00:27:57] Palestine in a way that befits its culture, history, [00:28:01] heritage, and legacy. Therefore, the challenge is great. [00:28:03] And my call to the intellectuals of Palestine is that your unity is obligatory, [00:28:07] and organizing the Palestinian cultural [00:28:11] house is obligatory, and that Palestinian culture is not just a street corner [00:28:14] or a café here or there. [00:28:17] Therefore, Palestinian culture is complete in the homeland. [00:28:20] and the head of Gaza, martyrs, writers, innovators, [00:28:24] and intellectuals. And in continuation with all [00:28:28] our writers across this map, gathering [00:28:31] and connecting all our writers in the diaspora [00:28:35] and exiles to unite the saying on the line of [00:28:38] Palestine and its great [00:28:42] التكريم برايك [00:28:45] امم يعني بالتحديد [00:28:46] يعني [00:28:49] ما الرساله التي يتم توجيهها من خلال هذا التكريم [00:28:53] للمثقف الفلسطيني عامه ولثقافه الفلسطينيه خاصه [00:28:56] يعني عاده فلسطين وعربيا ربما يتم [00:29:00] التكريم بعد الرحيل نستذكر. [00:39:15] I mean, the needs of the people are a big challenge for us. It is a very [00:39:19] important concern that we see before our eyes every moment, every moment. We consider the residents [00:39:23] of the camp as an essential part of us, [00:39:26] and we are an essential part of them. And we are in a position of responsibility, bearing [00:39:30] all the responsibility related to them. Therefore, we [00:39:34] communicate with all officials and relevant parties in order [00:39:37] to provide all humanitarian [00:39:41] relief needs, as my brother Marouf mentioned, specifically related [00:39:44] to medical matters. There are many kidney, [00:39:48] blood pressure, and diabetes patients, and elderly people who need medication [00:39:51] constantly. There is a severe shortage of infant [00:39:54] formula for children. Also, given that the unemployment rate [00:39:58] was already high before this campaign, the economic situation of the people is deteriorating [00:40:02] in all circumstances. There is no possibility [00:40:06] for people to store food [00:40:09] for long periods. They barely [00:40:12] secure their daily bread day by day. [00:40:16] Therefore, if this campaign continues, we will face [00:40:19] a major challenge in how to provide all [00:40:23] aspects of humanitarian relief to the residents. [00:40:27] We deal with complete seriousness. We deal with utmost care [00:40:30] and high responsibility, and we try to convey from among [00:40:34] the rubble and from under this criminal [00:40:37] and frantic military campaign [00:40:43] voice will reach all [00:40:47] level, at the Arab regional and international levels. [00:40:50] Also, I mean, we want, I mean, I take this opportunity [00:40:54] to address a message through your screen to this civilized [00:40:57] world that claims to be civilized and that it is the democratic [00:41:00] world and the free world, and we are in the era of digitalization [00:41:04] and the era of artificial intelligence and the era of cyber security, [00:41:07] and yet we see these frantic [00:41:10] and insane campaigns that strive with all their might [00:41:14] to implement the concept of ethnic cleansing [00:41:17] that fills the minds, chests, and hearts of the right-wing [00:41:21] extremists in the Israeli government. Perhaps [00:41:24] our voice will reach some who still [00:41:27] believe in the right of peoples to establish their state and some [00:41:31] peoples who still, and some governments that still believe that every [00:41:35] human being has the right to establish their state on their national [00:41:38] soil, like other countries in the whole world, [00:41:41] like other peoples of the world who strive to achieve [00:41:45] their freedom with dignity without any [00:41:47] exposure to this [00:41:51] dealing, just because the Palestinian people still [00:41:54] cling to their land and their principles, no matter [00:41:57] the circumstances. Yes, Mr. Marouf Al-Rifai, I mean, [00:42:00] how will these events [00:42:04] specifically affect in general and daily life? [00:42:08] بشكل عام وعلى الحياه اليوميه [00:42:14] to workplaces, preventing [00:42:17] Even the shops located on both sides of the road connecting Jerusalem [00:42:21] and Ramallah were forced to close their shops. [00:42:24] Therefore, as my brother Abu Saeed said, there is a crisis [00:42:28] even in obtaining food from stores. [00:42:31] Journalists were brutally and unprecedentedly [00:42:35] attacked to prevent this [00:42:38] image from reaching international public opinion. There was [00:42:41] a physical assault on one of the journalistic crews, [00:42:45] and sound bombs and gas bombs were fired [00:42:49] at the journalists present at the gate of [00:42:53] Qalandia camp. Even public cars [00:42:56] and private cars that were passing in front of [00:42:59] the camp were stopped and their identities were checked. [00:43:03] I mean, life is difficult, and you know that if [00:43:06] you allow me, you mentioned journalists and also cars. [00:43:09] What about medical and ambulance crews? [00:43:12] And we know that they face [00:43:15] two difficulties, I mean, always if there is an incident [00:43:19] in any area, ambulance cars or ambulance [00:43:23] vehicles are directly targeted by the Israeli [00:43:26] occupation forces. Therefore, what about [00:43:29] ambulance cars? Does the Israeli occupation allow [00:43:32] them to enter, or as usual, does it [00:43:35] attack them? I mean, yesterday, my sister Dana, [00:43:39] the arrival of ambulance vehicles was hindered from entering [00:43:42] Qalandia camp to evacuate some medical cases and even [00:43:46] some cases that were assaulted by the occupation soldiers. [00:43:50] But today, with the intervention of our brothers in the Civil [00:43:53] Liaison and the Palestinian Military Liaison, the Red Crescent's [00:43:56] mission was facilitated to evacuate more than [00:43:59] 11 cases to Ramallah hospitals, [00:44:02] and also Red Crescent vehicles were used [00:44:06] to deliver some food supplies, especially bread and some [00:44:09] medicines, to the besieged families inside [00:44:12] Qalandia camp. And I want to [00:44:16] address, through you and through Palestine TV, our brothers in the Red Crescent [00:44:19] and our brothers in the Palestinian Military and Civil Liaison for [00:44:23] their response and their great cooperation. I mean, 24 hours a day, we [00:44:27] are in constant contact with them in order to provide [00:44:30] everything we can for the trapped families and the besieged [00:44:33] families inside, I mean, [00:44:35] direction [00:44:38] and thanks to these crews, I will address this question to [00:44:41] Muhammad Aslan, and, I mean, [00:44:44] in your opinion, what are the most prominent urgent [00:44:47] needs that the residents of [00:44:51] Qalandia camp and also Kafr [00:44:54] Aqab need? I mean, the urgent basic issues are medicines, [00:44:58] especially medicines for the elderly, medicines for children, infant [00:45:02] formula, also food supplies, as my brother [00:45:05] Marouf mentioned, that there is a severe shortage of food supplies [00:45:09] because commercial centers are already closed [00:45:13] since the beginning of the invasion until [00:45:16] is no, I mean, any available space for the besieged [00:45:19] families to obtain the minimum of their needs of [00:45:23] food supplies, bread, milk, and cheese that [00:45:26] meet the minimum food security for them in these [00:45:30] difficult circumstances. I mean, we appeal to all [00:45:33] levels, at the humanitarian level, at the relief [00:45:36] level, to intervene to curb this [00:45:40] aggression that seeks to thwart everything that is Palestinian, seeks [00:45:44] to, I mean, I mean, [00:45:47] to scatter Palestinian blood on all the mountains and on all the crossroads. This is a very [00:45:51] painful issue to see children in need of [00:45:54] milk and you do not [00:45:58] milk. To have a family that needs, I mean, [00:46:01] a small amount of bread to satisfy their hunger and you do not [00:46:04] have the ability, I mean, to meet that. So, I mean, this [00:46:08] is a criminal [00:46:10] occupation that wants us to kneel, wants us to surrender, but its [00:46:14] actions have failed. The Palestinian people are determined to [00:46:17] adhere to their steadfastness and resilience, no matter [00:46:20] the circumstances, no matter the difficulties and no matter [00:46:23] the obstacles. Yes, Mr. Marouf, what is the role of institutions [00:46:26] today and the necessity for national [00:46:29] institutions and the private sector to intervene to support the steadfastness [00:46:33] of citizens? I mean, my sister Dana, I mean, I ask [00:46:38] regard. What our brothers in Qalandia [00:46:42] camp and Kafr Aqab area are subjected to is a war [00:46:45] in the literal sense of the word. Therefore, I [00:46:48] wonder, where is the Department of Palestinian Refugees in the Palestine Liberation Organization, [00:46:52] for which Qalandia camp is part of its duties? [00:46:55] Where is UNRWA, and it is also [00:46:59] responsible for.
