[00:00:39] of [00:00:43] of [00:00:54] of [00:01:02] of [00:01:06] where of Iran and Oman are working toward new operational [00:01:10] framework for one [00:01:11] of the world's most critical maritime choke points. Iranian [00:01:15] officials argue that any future arrangement should reflect the sovereign [00:01:19] rights and security responsibilities [00:01:25] of of the two coastal states. report suggests discussions include new service fees for navigation. supporters [00:01:28] of the proposed framework, argue that charges for navigation, [00:01:32] safety, vessel, traffic management, security escorts and [00:01:35] environmental protection could be [00:01:37] of structured in manner consistent with the existing [00:01:41] international practice. critics, however, content that any new [00:01:45] financial or regulatory regime could affect freedom of [00:01:49] navigation and global energy markets. so are we witnessing the [00:01:52] emergence of new maritime order in the straight of removes? what would it [00:01:56] mean for regional [00:01:58] of [00:01:58] in security, the global economy? and the balance of power in west Asia, that's what [00:02:02] we'll be discussing tonight with our [00:02:06] of guests, [00:02:08] a [00:02:12] of joining us from [00:02:16] of London and Christopher [00:02:19] Horstell author and politician joining us from [00:02:22] Berlin. [00:02:27] Gentlemen, thank you both for being with us, um... I'm going to start [00:02:31] with [00:02:31] of Mr. Horstell, our guest in [00:02:33] of Berlin. Thank you so much for being with us. um, let's begin with your [00:02:37] broad take away on the situation [00:02:39] of the straight to for moves, the choices that the US has in order to [00:02:42] counter any agreement that Iran and [00:02:45] of Oman um may be reaching very soon, and why and how [00:02:49] would such an agreement be strategically important at this time [00:02:53] and place? we see that the [00:02:56] UN now militarily quite crippled. [00:03:00] "they are unable in fact uh to strongly attack [00:03:04] Iran, it doesn't help them, Iran is much [00:03:08] of stronger in its responses [00:03:11] of and that [00:03:11] in sets all these little or bigger countries [00:03:15] in the region somehow free, they have nothing [00:03:19] to fear from the US anymore, [00:03:22] of that tiger has become a paper tiger, but it is [00:03:25] murderous pepper tiger which can kill people, [00:03:29] so this is..." the the situation we have and the talks between [00:03:33] Oman and Iran are traditionally very [00:03:36] good, there's a [00:03:38] in good relationship, these countries are open and honest [00:03:41] towards each other, and this is what we see as [00:03:44] a result, and the serious and reliable [00:03:48] policy of Iran towards all the [00:03:51] of neighbors is now [00:03:52] of paying out, that is very very clear, so I think that it's [00:03:56] a good chance that this works, unless and... [00:04:00] fact [00:04:00] is Trump [00:04:02] a issues military strong threats against the [00:04:06] oman government to stop them from [00:04:09] concluding these deals, but that will set up lot of [00:04:13] trouble, and I heard just this afternoon from a [00:04:17] direct quotation [00:04:18] a from the Pakistani [00:04:19] of field marshall, the strong man of Pakistan, so to [00:04:23] say that he told Donald Trump personally, [00:04:27] quote, the time of... relation is over [00:04:31] unquote, so that is the situation, and the [00:04:34] Saudis through Mohammad have [00:04:38] of made it amply clear to the U.S. that should [00:04:41] in they start any aggression against Iran, they [00:04:45] have no allowance, okay from the Saudi [00:04:48] side to use their airspace, and that's vital, there's [00:04:52] a huge detour they would have to fly, so in fact we [00:04:56] have a situation here where something slow. [00:05:00] Slowly, slowly, something comes closer towards a [00:05:03] solution, and a good deal right now with [00:05:07] oman and Iran will give face saving [00:05:11] device to. is president Trump who is beleged [00:05:14] because he's losing the big majority the American [00:05:18] support for his crazy policies, so that is a good [00:05:22] chance that this in fact can appease a little [00:05:25] bit the American idea, [00:05:27] you know, that's not only Iran should be there, so that's [00:05:31] it, but there will be, that is very clear from all inside [00:05:35] talks, no and zero compromise from the Iranian [00:05:39] side beyond the MOU. "the [00:05:42] Americans now have to fulfill the mou and [00:05:46] after that Iran talks, before that there will be zero [00:05:50] talks, no matter what Trump is lying about his fantastic [00:05:54] contact to his polla and to Iran and whatsoever. We [00:05:58] have very serious project, and that is the [00:06:01] situation that Iran is not attacking Israel [00:06:05] for its violations the Mou against Lebanon, [00:06:09] which is increasingly looking like..." and my [00:06:13] gaza brothers are calling me by the day, they are [00:06:17] starving, and please, so to say [00:06:20] my Iranian friends, Israel for that, [00:06:24] because you are the only power in the world, the only country [00:06:28] with guts with the good population was behind its [00:06:31] government and punish this country for its multiple [00:06:35] crimes, my brother abu safiya is dying an [00:06:46] Let me also bring in today's conversation Masud Shajara, [00:06:49] chairman the Islamic Human Rights Commission joining us from the British [00:06:53] Capital, London. Thank you so much Mr. Shajara for being with [00:06:55] us. Um, so many things uh to talk about. [00:06:59] Let's talk about the situation on February 27, [00:07:03] 2026. The straight to for moves was open to [00:07:06] commercial shipping, um, even different ships from different [00:07:10] countries entered the straight. and into the Persian [00:07:13] Gulf, also [00:07:15] at the same time Donald Trump had so-called allies in the [00:07:18] Persian Gulf countries, right now, after more [00:07:22] than five months, the situation has changed dramatically, [00:07:25] the straight of her moves [00:07:27] is in full control the Iranian armed forces and those allies, [00:07:31] according to Mr. Horstell's analysis, are [00:07:35] turning back from what they have been doing throughout the [00:07:38] years, absolutely, I think we need to..." [00:07:42] sort of separate illusions that [00:07:46] Trump is trying to hold on and create [00:07:50] and the reality, the reality is that United [00:07:53] States has lost this war, the reality is that [00:07:57] Trump is stock, he doesn't know what to [00:08:00] do, he knows that he needs to give [00:08:03] concession, he knows that the game has totally [00:08:07] changed, not just regarding the sort [00:08:11] of ' the governments in [00:08:14] the Persian Gulf, but [00:08:17] you know the whole spectral [00:08:21] the situation has changed, Iran is a very [00:08:25] powerful position because United State [00:08:28] with all his mind and support of Israel [00:08:32] and indeed even some the local [00:08:35] governments and and indeed Europeans [00:08:38] providing logistical support. [00:08:43] is failed, it actually lost the war, and there is no [00:08:46] way that that could change, [00:08:49] and and what Trump is trying to do by [00:08:53] creating illusions and by sort of one [00:08:57] minute saying that there is deal, and the next minute is saying that [00:09:00] is going to wipe Iran the [00:09:04] map the world and and destroyer totally, [00:09:08] is trying to manage this defeat, [00:09:11] this... total defeat and is not [00:09:14] manageable, it's getting worse and now [00:09:18] regional governments all realizing [00:09:22] that they can no longer continue [00:09:25] supporting united states and and indeed [00:09:29] they want resolution, they want end to [00:09:33] this conflict, they want to go back to some level [00:09:37] of normality, and they realized that that [00:09:40] normality could on be [00:09:44] realistic and could be only achieved by giving [00:09:47] Iran what is rightful [00:09:51] sort of position is in the region and [00:09:55] in in regarding the hormones, so this [00:09:59] is a reality that the longer Trump tries [00:10:03] to ignore and try to sort of undermine [00:10:07] it by creating illusions, the worse it will [00:10:10] become, and the best thing all around [00:10:14] for everyone, including United States and Europeans [00:10:17] and the regional government is to see [00:10:21] solution, to see the implementation of... [00:10:25] memorand of understanding to see solution of [00:10:29] ending in the aggression of zionist [00:10:32] state against his neighbor against humanity [00:10:36] and so the world could actually [00:10:40] start putting their lives back together and [00:10:44] this crisis to begin to be [00:10:47] resolved. that's right, mr. [00:10:50] horstoll, under the straight of moose deal currently being discussed. [00:10:55] uh the start that I'm going to tell you are based on [00:10:58] Reuters. um, Iran is seeking transit fees [00:11:02] uh of 5% to 7% the cargo price of vessels [00:11:06] passing through the strategic waterray the straight of for mouse. Omani [00:11:10] officials are pushing for lower fees of around [00:11:13] 3%. Washington is claiming that it wants zero [00:11:17] transit fees. I don't where that come from comes from. A [00:11:20] fully laiden VLCC, which is very large crude carrier. [00:11:25] carries around $150 million dollars worth of [00:11:29] oil um which a 5% fee on it at the very least [00:11:32] would equal 5.7 million dollars per ship [00:11:36] and when considering the average cargo and volume of ships passing through the [00:11:40] straight each year it would um net eron roughly about [00:11:44] 45 billion dollars in tolls yearly [00:11:47] when we are speaking about that this number is [00:11:51] uh is big enough um that it has two different [00:11:55] ramifications: one, it gives iran an economic [00:11:59] leverage over different countries that are coming in through the straight of [00:12:03] removes, and at the same time a political one. your [00:12:06] thoughts? well, to make that very [00:12:10] clear, Iran has charged already one million [00:12:14] dollar per ship, roughly like like [00:12:18] this, and that was easily taken up by the [00:12:21] economy. we are now a situation where the... global [00:12:25] economy is suffering to such huge [00:12:28] extent that we don't know how much the catastrophe [00:12:32] in the end will be globally, so this is the situation [00:12:36] under these circumstances and also [00:12:40] seeing the sacrifices of [00:12:43] 30,000 dead Iranians, hundreds [00:12:47] of hospitals and schools intentionally [00:12:50] destroyed by the US, I do think there [00:12:54] is a... growing understanding that Iran is [00:12:58] good and capable to maintain a very [00:13:02] healthy order for a long period over [00:13:05] hermous, and that is what the global economy, what all the [00:13:09] peoples around the world want, they finally want peace, [00:13:13] they want order, they want new security for their [00:13:16] shipments, and I think they are ready to pay a [00:13:20] higher price than before. I'm no expert on these [00:13:24] things. "I can only do my political [00:13:27] judgment [00:13:28] and the political judgment very clearly says that [00:13:31] Iran's reputation globally has grown so [00:13:35] much while the US have gone gone down [00:13:38] like a missile in the opposite direction so to [00:13:42] say so this is the situation so for that reason I think [00:13:46] the world is ready for Iran to [00:13:49] levy a justified price and that's it if [00:13:53] that is now five to" from my side, I [00:13:57] can politically agree, but as I say, I'm not [00:14:01] an expert, [00:14:03] and I think couldn't be more. Mr. Horstole, would Europeans [00:14:07] back an Iranian plan over the straight off moves, or would [00:14:10] they in your opinion, is it likely that they will go with Donald [00:14:14] Trump here? Yeah, that last [00:14:18] part of your question is so very interesting, so for one thing, [00:14:22] the Europeans are, toothless [00:14:25] vessels, they are not free to do or to say [00:14:29] anything, as far as the global deep [00:14:33] states rule over Europe, Germany as [00:14:37] a non-sovereign state has a special situation, we are ruled by [00:14:41] the American deep state, that's a special story globally, [00:14:45] so this kind of rule makes sure that nothing [00:14:49] that is good for Iran will come from Europe, no matter [00:14:52] what Mr. Macron from time to time. is telling, he is just [00:14:56] making up stories, we know that he talked about peace with Russia and [00:15:00] special understanding and he kept zero promises and is [00:15:04] it, so this is the situation, unfortunately, so [00:15:08] I'm not expecting anything good from the [00:15:11] Europeans, but yes, Iran independent, [00:15:14] Iran is strong enough to impose its own rules [00:15:18] and make the Europeans understand [00:15:22] that, if they try anything funny, sending [00:15:25] warships to the gulf of Persia or [00:15:29] even into the red sea, they have just withdrawn, the Germans for [00:15:32] example, they understand they are in no way [00:15:36] capable to... put a counterweight against [00:15:39] Iran, so I think they will simply obey, that's [00:15:43] all. Thank you so much. Mr. Shajare, how would in your opinion [00:15:46] a formalized Iran and Oman [00:15:49] maritime um arrangements the strage of [00:15:53] hormoos affect the global economy at this [00:15:55] point? Well, I, I [00:15:59] think the global economy needs recovery, the [00:16:03] global economy needs stability [00:16:06] and and agreement and [00:16:09] process will exactly give it what it needs [00:16:13] and this is why everyone is waiting for it to [00:16:17] happen and but i think it would be wrong to [00:16:20] look at the thing only from economical perspective. [00:16:24] economy is important, is important to Iran, is important [00:16:28] to oman, is important to the regional [00:16:32] nations and indeed important globally, but I [00:16:36] think what is real the has happened with the [00:16:39] significant the victory [00:16:43] of Iran, victory for Iran out of this war [00:16:46] is that Iran cannot no longer be [00:16:50] treated as it was treated before, facing [00:16:54] sanction, facing demonization, [00:16:57] facing sort of every [00:17:00] possible pressure economically, politically [00:17:04] and being demonized, ironophobia. have [00:17:08] become a n and but after this war, after [00:17:12] this victory, this cannot happen any longer. [00:17:16] Iran will not allow it to happen, it's not just about how [00:17:20] much you are going to charge for the services of [00:17:23] allowing every ship to go through, is about the [00:17:27] fact that [00:17:28] you know Iran has got a paying card that [00:17:32] is very powerful, it affects the global [00:17:36] economy and [00:17:37] now everybody knows that, the gen cannot be put back into [00:17:41] the bottle, and this is exactly where we are, [00:17:45] and unless there is recognition of this by [00:17:48] trump, and and [00:17:52] then we will have more time for him [00:17:56] to sort of be forced to [00:17:59] recognize the reality of geographical [00:18:03] reality, political reality and [00:18:06] military. military reality the region and [00:18:10] recognize that [00:18:11] you know he cannot lie his way out of this and looking [00:18:15] at the situation of Europe, Europeans have [00:18:19] proven that they are irrelevant, they have been irrelevant [00:18:23] for very long time. JCPO, you know, they [00:18:27] showed that they [00:18:28] are incompetent and irrelevant, they can neither [00:18:31] resolve or bring any solution or indeed have [00:18:35] any say in in the in [00:18:38] the in those processes and right now they [00:18:42] have they have made it very clear by their [00:18:45] action that they are not players in this state [00:18:49] and trump has shown that he wants [00:18:53] to be the main man of a player but he had no card to [00:18:56] play he is indeed stuck in the [00:19:00] mod and he has to recognize the [00:19:03] reality the longer it takes is going to be more painful. [00:19:08] for everyone, but at [00:19:10] the end of it, the game is not going to change, the reality [00:19:13] is that Iran is a very powerful position [00:19:17] after this victory, and indeed the [00:19:21] future and the future of region belongs to it, [00:19:24] and it is irrelevant the agreement with [00:19:28] Oman or not, there would be agreement, the relationship, [00:19:32] as my colleague said, between Iran and Roman is is [00:19:36] exceptional. and they will come with [00:19:39] resolution, but the problem is that is not [00:19:43] resolution with oman, is is recognition of [00:19:47] Trump, recognizing that he [00:19:50] hasn't got any other option and he has [00:19:54] to give concession to Iran, not [00:19:57] just over the charges, but over the [00:20:01] right to be to pay [00:20:04] equal right within the internet. [00:20:07] community, Mr. Shadia, regarding the [00:20:11] Europeans, as it is known fact, of course you [00:20:15] can tell me from Bronk here that the Europeans are still having issues when [00:20:19] it comes to the Ukraine policy and that is against [00:20:23] what is happening against Donald Trump and the world is changing, it is said [00:20:27] time and again that new global order is emerging, [00:20:30] um, isn't it time for the Europeans to back something that Donald [00:20:34] Trump is not backing [00:20:36] and that can be? Iran's authority over the straight of [00:20:50] indeed, I think, I think this recognition is long [00:20:54] overdue, but as it's [00:20:57] been said as is been sort of proven over and [00:21:00] over and that [00:21:04] Europeans are failing, they're incompetent to [00:21:08] make right decisions for themselves, they have failed to do [00:21:11] so in Ukraine, they have failed to do so [00:21:15] over sort of economical [00:21:19] agreements. with United States and they're failing [00:21:23] here regarding Iran and [00:21:26] and the reality is, the reality [00:21:30] is that Europe is going to pay heavy price [00:21:34] for this and they know it, but they are scared to [00:21:38] stand up against the bully, the bully [00:21:41] has still demands and [00:21:45] total respect, I mean [00:21:46] look, it's been... proven over [00:21:50] and over, do you remember when all these Europeans went to the [00:21:54] oval overal room at [00:21:58] the white house and they were all [00:22:02] set together like bunch of kids being sort [00:22:06] of bullied by Trump, that is a reality that is [00:22:10] happening within the international community and they [00:22:14] are too scared to stand up against the bully and they [00:22:17] will suffer for it, they are a relevant right now and they [00:22:21] will suffer long-term so [00:22:25] economic and political consequences of this, [00:22:29] but i i don't know how they will be [00:22:33] awaken to do the right thing, their own citizens [00:22:37] in Europe, be in Britain, france, [00:22:41] germany, spain or Italy and elsewhere are [00:22:45] demanding that their governments make the right disposition [00:22:48] and they stand on [00:22:49] the right. side of history, but the still they're [00:22:52] failing. Mr. Horstole, um, as [00:22:56] the last question, how much longer would you say the US [00:22:59] obstructionism in the region can go [00:23:01] on? Well, [00:23:05] I think unfortunately, it can go on quite [00:23:09] long, and there's the issue of [00:23:12] tactical nukes, which may be used if [00:23:16] there's enough craziness in the White House and... enough [00:23:20] pressure of satanist, [00:23:23] zionist, billionaires who are financing Trump, so [00:23:27] this is the situation, it's a very, very [00:23:30] complex and corrupt situation, so it's not very [00:23:34] sure what will in fact happen, and anything is [00:23:38] imaginable, we understanding that the global deep state [00:23:41] wants a prolonged conflict around, [00:23:45] because they want huge global crisis and [00:23:48] then a wonderful huge world war to [00:23:52] kill lot of people, this is the secret planning they [00:23:55] have, so trump is just the little erant [00:23:59] boy, the shine boy these guys, and he's [00:24:03] he is becoming with his family incredibly rich [00:24:06] through the deals which are enabled by this deep state just [00:24:10] recently with Saudi Arabia, so this is a situation which is [00:24:14] which is unclear, so we will see in the next days how [00:24:18] Trump will decide, we understand. what is the [00:24:21] downside for the good side for the world that there will [00:24:24] peace and stability maintained by Iran? now the [00:24:28] downside is trump will certainly and [00:24:31] crazily lose the midterm election and that [00:24:35] can lead to his [00:24:37] you know impeachment and that can lead to his [00:24:41] imprisonment even, so this is a Trump situation, it's [00:24:44] a very dangerous situation and we understand [00:24:48] it is very close to the... situation of his [00:24:51] dear unloved [00:24:55] ally Netanyahu who is facing prison if he loses [00:24:58] his job in the next election and we have a time [00:25:02] in the end of October there's the election in Israel and beginning [00:25:06] of November just one week apart there two elections in Israel and the [00:25:10] US and if something goes wrong these two [00:25:14] crazys decide that they want to have another attack with [00:25:18] Iran and the elections, it's [00:25:22] very unclear. thank you so much both of you for your [00:25:25] time tonight, those were Masud Shajar, chairman the Islamic human rights [00:25:29] commission joined us from the British capital, London, and Christopher Horstell [00:25:33] author and politician join us from the city of Berlin. thank you so [00:25:37] much for your time tonight, and that brings us to the end of this edition over spotlight [00:25:41] program. thank you for being with us and bye [00:25:42] bye. [00:26:00] As an African, I can't help but think about sanctions. as in Zimbabwe [00:26:03] because that was what introduced me to sanction in the first place, where the [00:26:07] Zimbabwe people had to suffer because of US unilateral [00:26:11] sanction and also the EU sanction, and what that sanction did to [00:26:15] the entire economy, but having come to Iran, I realize the sanction [00:26:19] can be treated as swatt. What is what? In [00:26:22] business, swat means s [00:26:25] a, which means strength, witness, [00:26:28] opportunities and threat, and that is how Iranians are treated. [00:26:32] sanctions by turning it into strength, and [00:26:35] today Iran produces over [00:26:38] 90% of its food [00:26:41] consumption. [00:26:55] According to the most recent sensors, Iran has 90 million [00:26:59] people, or over 90 million people, and [00:27:02] produces over 90% the food that its people [00:27:05] need. it is so self-sufficient in creating food and [00:27:09] producing food that it is also exporting to other [00:27:12] countries. we are only very few countries that have been able [00:27:16] to attain over 70% of food sufficiency [00:27:20] according to the UN. and those countries are China, [00:27:24] Russia, the United States and Iran is also one [00:27:28] them. but the difference is Iran is heavily [00:27:31] sanctioned. [00:27:40] According to UN estimate export of agricultural [00:27:43] products now amounts for 12% of Iran's [00:27:47] total GDP, when you compare that to [00:27:51] the countries around Iran that are well relatively [00:27:55] much much richer than Iran, but they cannot produce [00:27:59] even 2% the food that they consume. [00:28:02] countries like Saudi Arabia, like Kuwait, like [00:28:06] Oman, what we can argue that some these countries are [00:28:09] experiencing drought and the geography does not allow for [00:28:13] food production, but one the lies we've been told is that [00:28:17] to be self-sufficient in food and consumption, you have [00:28:21] to be very, very rich. You can also compare that to [00:28:24] African countries that have huge hurriable land that [00:28:28] allow them to be able to farm, but most... [00:28:32] African countries still import over 70% the [00:28:36] food they [00:28:37] consume, [00:28:47] well this is one the good restaurant in Tehran and I've come to try [00:28:51] very famous Iranian dish known as [00:28:53] conti. [00:28:57] This is considered by Iranian as the king of food. [00:29:01] One thing Iran has taught up. from the very first moment that have been [00:29:04] covering sanctions around the world and especially in Iran, whether it is [00:29:08] from the military doctrine to their technology when [00:29:12] it comes to medicine or the ability to be able to produce your own [00:29:16] food, is that when a nation takes a [00:29:19] decision that it can do it, it will find [00:29:23] ways, whether you're sanctioned by everybody in the world or your [00:29:26] sanction by the United [00:29:28] States. [00:29:35] Very [00:29:35] delicious. [00:30:16] Islamic Revolution Gard Core says imposed wars on Iran have [00:30:20] revealed a strategic deadlock the US and Israel, adding the world media [00:30:24] admits Trump's [00:30:25] failure. [00:30:30] Hemen many armed forces say that they've carried out. strikes on Saudi Back troops in [00:30:34] Madrid province of [00:30:35] Yemen [00:30:40] and Spain as announced a border controls against Italy [00:30:44] a titftat move as raw over a Swedda [00:30:48] migrant influx [00:30:49] intensifies.
