[00:29:06] between two ships is not simple accident. Lives can
[00:29:10] be put at risk. Chipping lanes can be disrupted, millions of
[00:29:14] dollars in damage can occur, oil, fuel or chemicals
[00:29:18] can spill into the waters the Persian Gulf. This is not two
[00:29:22] cars scraping bumpers a street. It can become an
[00:29:25] environmental and economic crisis, but unlike
[00:29:29] cars, massive vessels need significant time. distance
[00:29:33] and coordination to change course or come to a full
[00:29:36] stop. That is why passage
[00:29:40] through Hormus requires constant management. Just like
[00:29:43] crowded urban road, the straight of Hormus needs designated
[00:29:47] inbound and outbound lanes, traffic separation
[00:29:50] zones, maritime warnings, coastal
[00:29:53] monitoring, radio coordination and
[00:29:57] crisis management mechanisms. For years, Iran
[00:30:01] and Oman, as the... coastal states the straight have carried
[00:30:04] major share of this responsibility, while
[00:30:08] the global economy has benefited from this route, much the burden has
[00:30:11] remained with the region: air and water pollution, the risk
[00:30:15] of fuel spills, possible collisions, search and
[00:30:19] rescue operations, wider
[00:30:22] security and environmental
[00:30:25] consequences. in this context, Iran's question becomes
[00:30:28] easier to understand, is it reasonable for the world to ben?
[00:30:32] from vital straight without contributing to the cost of keeping it
[00:30:36] safe, and more importantly, is it fair for countries that depend on
[00:30:40] the security of this route to impose political pressure, economic
[00:30:44] sanctions and even war on Iran, while still expecting
[00:30:47] essential services in this corridor to continue free of
[00:30:51] charge. From Iran's perspective, the era of providing
[00:30:54] such services without compensation is over. This does not
[00:30:58] mean closing maritime root.
