[00:00:00] was quick to ban cell phones, [00:00:03] some, some [00:00:06] experts are uh analyzing [00:00:10] this, we are no longer in the last [00:00:13] positions, we are in the lower third of the [00:00:16] uh PISA ranking, [00:00:20] but we had some results [00:00:24] eh worthy of mention, our big [00:00:27] Achilles' heel continues to be... [00:00:30] mathematics, yes, right, we remember the challenges that Brazil [00:00:34] has, right, a huge country [00:00:37] territorially, with diverse [00:00:40] realities, right, we have even brought here with [00:00:43] regard, not only to the state where we live, the differences between states, but also in relation to [00:00:47] social class, the challenges it has are enormous, right, [00:00:51] we have to face them with a very serious look, even because in what way, [00:00:55] if these results continue to fall, as you mentioned, for example, [00:00:58] from Portugal, from France. what kind of impact will the world have soon, [00:01:02] right? Undoubtedly, undoubtedly, [00:01:06] the countries that stood out the most were [00:01:09] the five main or [00:01:12] richest provinces of China, but which have a [00:01:16] huge population, right, like Shanghai, etc. [00:01:20] Japan stood out, uh, [00:01:22] Taiwan, but also Estonia, and I [00:01:26] want to highlight Estonia, because it's a lesson for Brazil. "Estonia [00:01:30] is one of the countries with the highest [00:01:33] digital inclusion, they [00:01:36] were already doing well in the last [00:01:39] evaluations, uh, it's not a big country [00:01:42] naturally, uh, but they had the [00:01:46] best European economy [00:01:49] in the PISA assessment, followed by [00:01:52] Switzerland. Uh, [00:01:55] Brazil [00:01:57] the connection with performed, as I said, in the lower third, [00:02:00] but there is a highlight that needs to be made, because some governments [00:02:04] participated as states, some state [00:02:08] governments. Paraná [00:02:11] was the best state in Brazil, followed [00:02:14] by São Paulo, but what caught the attention in the case of both [00:02:18] skin cancer. Check out the Paraná and São Paulo is that they are ahead of Chile [00:02:21] and Uruguay, which are the [00:02:25] two main countries in PISA, [00:02:28] historically in... in this edition as well. [00:02:31] So we need to see what Paraná is doing, [00:02:35] eventually São Paulo, what other [00:02:38] states could be inspired and learn from [00:02:42] them in education, uh, let's [00:02:45] stop looking through this polarized lens that we live in, let's [00:02:49] look at what the practices actually [00:02:53] are, the practices shouldn't be, let's not admit the digital world, [00:02:57] let's not admit cell phones, certainly, we should [00:03:00] have, but we have to have a well-done digital inclusion [00:03:04] and one that does not despise the physical book, have both [00:03:08] platforms and physical books, because in the world of work [00:03:12] that these young people will live in, these two realities will also [00:03:16] appear, exactly, there's the challenge, right, Cláudia, we [00:03:19] really need to keep up with these new times and [00:03:23] education. [00:03:26] And I have the idea that it's a giant that takes a long time to [00:03:29] move. And to update the curricula and for [00:03:33] The region of Mato Grosso, the region, the everyone to be speaking the same language, for all education professionals [00:03:36] to be on the same level, right, it takes a certain amount of time that often [00:03:40] we don't have, right, because innovations [00:03:43] happen very quickly. Well, it's always good for us [00:03:46] to update and it's interesting that you bring these cases also in relation to [00:03:50] Paraná and São Paulo, that other states also wake up [00:03:54] to exchange information, thank you very much for the analysis, [00:03:56] you know, thank you very much, I appreciate it. Good [00:04:00] afternoon, great weekend. [00:04:03] The government of São Paulo suspended classes and outdoor events today in [00:04:06] five regions of the state. The measure was adopted in view of the civil defense alert [00:04:10] for the forecast of severe storms with winds and [00:04:14] hail and meteorological conditions favorable to the formation of [00:04:18] tornadoes in these regions. The measure applies to Presidente [00:04:21] Prudente, Marília, Itapeva, Sorocaba [00:04:25] and Registro. The suspension applies to schools, as well as Etex [00:04:29] Fatecs. The... classes must be made up until the end of the [00:04:32] school year. The guideline is that outdoor events be [00:04:36] suspended during the period of greatest [00:04:39] risk. [00:04:41] In Paraná, two tornadoes hit the state in 24 hours, [00:04:45] three people from the same family, including a 5-year-old [00:04:48] child, died buried in a [00:04:52] landslide. Reporter Ricardo Pereira has more information for [00:04:55] us. According to the firefighters, the bodies [00:04:59] of... mother, son and stepfather were found [00:05:02] in the same bed, inside a room under earth, [00:05:05] mud, many debris, a wall and the [00:05:08] roof fell due to the impact of the collapse, the... [00:05:12] a Samu team even provided medical care, but the [00:05:15] deaths were confirmed still on [00:05:18] site. The forecast for today here in the state of Paraná [00:05:22] is unstable weather, with high risk of [00:05:25] severe storms, strong gusts of [00:05:28] wind, lightning, eventual hail [00:05:31] in several regions of the state. Yes, [00:05:35] well, this Friday, the storms continue to hit the [00:05:38] south, the southeast of Brazil, mainly, and look, the alert continues in [00:05:42] Paraná. We'll check the details in the weather [00:05:45] forecast. [00:05:51] Friday continues with attention for intense [00:05:54] storms in the south and southeast of the country, a [00:05:58] extratropical cyclone associated with a cold front [00:06:01] makes the weather prone to large [00:06:04] amounts of rain and very strong winds throughout [00:06:08] the day. The main alert is for Santa Catarina [00:06:11] and for... Paraná, in addition to the north of Rio Grande do Sul. In these [00:06:15] areas, the risk of storms keeps authorities on [00:06:19] alert. There is a risk of lightning, hail and [00:06:22] high accumulations this Friday. All this [00:06:26] combination of instabilities can [00:06:28] cause tornadoes to appear in Paraná, south [00:06:32] of São Paulo and extreme north of Santa Catarina. In the [00:06:36] southeast region, the atmosphere remains unstable since [00:06:40] early morning. It rains in the south-central region. and the [00:06:43] showers spread throughout practically the entire state, [00:06:47] in addition to the south of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. Stronger winds [00:06:50] are also expected, mainly in western and [00:06:54] southern São Paulo, where gusts can reach up to [00:06:57] 90 km/h. In the [00:06:59] Midwest, Mato Grosso do Sul continues with the highest [00:07:03] potential for heavy rain, with a risk of voluminous [00:07:07] storms, mainly in the south of the [00:07:09] state. The Northeast continues with [00:07:13] moderate rain between Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Sergipe and [00:07:17] the coast of Bahia, while in other areas, the weather [00:07:21] remains drier. In the north, the showers are [00:07:25] concentrated in Amazonas, Roraima, [00:07:28] Rondônia, western Pará, with an alert for [00:07:31] storms in the red area. In [00:07:33] Palmas, a maximum of 36 degrees, while [00:07:37] Cuiabá registers up to 38. The capital of [00:07:40] São Paulo marks 20. [00:07:43] and Porto Alegre has a maximum of only 19 degrees this [00:07:47] Friday. Residents of the South-Central region of Brazil [00:07:50] remain on alert for the risk of new tornadoes. The National Institute [00:07:54] of Meteorology issued warnings of strong [00:07:57] storms for eight states still today, five of them with the [00:08:01] highest degree of severity, red. Renan [00:08:05] Barbosa, the meteorologist from Climatempo, will bring us the weather [00:08:08] updates here on Conexão. Hi Renan, good afternoon to you. [00:08:13] Good afternoon Kelly, good afternoon everyone, well, how many alerts, [00:08:17] right, let's update everyone, what to expect for today, at the end of the [00:08:20] day and even for the weekend. [00:08:24] Look, for today, at this moment we already have a lot of [00:08:27] rain there in the region of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina [00:08:30] also, in fact, gusts have already reached more than 100 km/h there in the western region [00:08:34] of Santa Catarina, also eh in the interior of the state here in São [00:08:38] Paulo we already had eh gusts of around 70 km/h, you see, and for [00:08:42] today. these instabilities that are in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do [00:08:45] Sul are advancing in the direction of the interior of [00:08:49] Paraná eh in the next few hours, right, so we expect the instabilities [00:08:52] to increase with rain throughout the afternoon and [00:08:56] night, these rains should move towards [00:08:59] the state of São Paulo, these rains should come with lightning, [00:09:03] eh many, very strong winds, winds above 100 [00:09:06] km/h, we do not rule out the possibility of [00:09:10] very isolated tornadoes. [00:09:12] The chance is low, but it exists, so it's important for the population to be very [00:09:16] attentive, well, right, there are many alerts, now tell [00:09:20] us, this whole displacement coming from the south, which [00:09:24] regions of Paraná and São [00:09:25] Paulo does it affect? [00:09:29] These, these fronts, this front, it's a cold front that is advancing, right, towards [00:09:32] Paraná, it will cover the entire state of Paraná eh over the next few hours and [00:09:36] at night eh from around [00:09:39] 8 or 9 pm, this... cold front [00:09:43] will reach the interior of the state of São Paulo, including also in the [00:09:46] capital of São Paulo, well and the highest volumes of rain are [00:09:50] being forecast for the region there that borders eh the state of São Paulo with [00:09:53] Paraná also the eastern strip, right, covering the region eh of [00:09:57] Ribeira, Ribeira Valley, metropolitan region of São Paulo, Paraíba [00:10:01] Valley, so this entire region is on alert there for [00:10:04] danger and squalls eh [00:10:07] storm with hail and heavy rain, well, you [00:10:11] mentioned the... winds that already reach the southern region, let's go to [00:10:15] Floripa, let's see how it is there, at this moment Florianópolis registers [00:10:19] 21 degrees Celsius, images from MaxxAN, it's [00:10:22] raining at this moment, right, you commented about the [00:10:26] winds that have already reached the region and look, it's cloudy, huh, [00:10:29] cloudy, cloudy in the next few hours [00:10:33] this wind should increase, well, so it's [00:10:37] always important to follow the weather forecast, we remember that [00:10:41] Brazil is a continental country, there are really [00:10:45] diverse realities, look, we just said that the [00:10:48] cold front is moving to the southeast region, let's take a look at how São [00:10:52] Paulo is now, Renan, 26 degrees Celsius, [00:10:55] for now, look at the sky of the capital of São Paulo, Renan, [00:10:59] Yes, today, until the end of, until [00:11:03] early evening, the sky will be quite clear, [00:11:07] eh, the weather quite pleasant, including the [00:11:10] interior of the state, the metropolitan region is sunny, but this [00:11:13] condition should change eh really from tonight, [00:11:17] including it's worth remembering that earlier here on Record News during the Brazil [00:11:21] alert we showed that it was raining in the capital of São Paulo, right? [00:11:25] Yes, yes, these instabilities have already advanced towards Rio de [00:11:29] Janeiro, they have already lost strength, but what will happen now [00:11:32] at night, tonight, Friday night, is the displacement of this [00:11:36] cold front coming from the south, eh bringing a lot of wind and [00:11:39] rain to the region of the capital of São Paulo, so it's important for the [00:11:43] population to be attentive, yes, of course, you mentioned Rio de Janeiro, so let's go there [00:11:46] to check how Copacabana is, Rio de Janeiro with 25 degrees Celsius, [00:11:50] images from Homes in Rio and look, it's a beach day, [00:11:54] huh, whoever can... can enjoy Friday eh really in [00:11:57] Copacabana, Renan, but this weather will also change, so yes, [00:12:01] it will change, just like in the state of São Paulo, in Rio de Janeiro, this cold front will also [00:12:05] change eh the weather condition in Rio de [00:12:08] Janeiro in the next, in the next hours and in the next [00:12:12] few days as well, right, today it's a little warm both in São Paulo and in [00:12:16] Rio, but in the next few days these temperatures will drop [00:12:19] eh and it will be cold at least until Wednesday, [00:12:23] Renan, regions. North Northeast, any [00:12:27] highlights? [00:12:29] The main highlight in the North is the Amazon region itself, where the [00:12:33] main areas of instability are concentrated, which should have heavy [00:12:36] rain and a lot of wind as well, [00:12:39] it should be those isolated showers, mainly [00:12:43] in the central-south of the Amazon region, eh [00:12:46] the Northeast's main highlight is just the coastal region itself, where we [00:12:50] continue to have rains, right, due to the maritime circulation, so during the [00:12:53] afternoon and night we should register some showers there in the [00:12:57] Salvador region, eh in the Piauí and Ceará regions it should also [00:13:00] register some isolated showers. In the interior of the [00:13:04] Northeast, the predominance is of dry weather and very high [00:13:07] temperatures. Well, and is all this [00:13:10] instability expected for this time of year, [00:13:12] Renan? These instabilities [00:13:16] are expected, right, eh now in September we are in a transition [00:13:20] from the dry period to the wet period, so it is natural that we [00:13:23] have this type of... systems advancing towards the center and south of [00:13:27] Brazil eh with quite considerable volumes of [00:13:30] rain and bringing a lot of wind [00:13:34] and hail in some moments, but it is [00:13:38] something normal for this time of year, uhm, let's go to a place now [00:13:41] where the weather is hot and it's really beautiful, look, [00:13:45] let's go to Brasília, at this moment the federal district [00:13:49] registers 30 degrees Celsius and look, clean sky, [00:13:52] what can we say about this region, huh? [00:13:58] central-west region of Brazil, it should also [00:14:01] register a change in the weather eh throughout [00:14:04] this Friday, the state of Mato [00:14:07] Grosso do Sul is included in the area of storms for tonight [00:14:11] with the possibility of squalls, lightning, eh [00:14:15] hail and the possibility there in the west of the state, [00:14:18] the possibility of even very isolated tornadoes, you see, [00:14:22] for the region of Goiânia, Brasília the dry weather should prevail [00:14:25] eh including today and over the weekend [00:14:29] next week too, thank you very much [00:14:32] Viran, we did a great update with several [00:14:35] important alerts, good afternoon to you and an excellent [00:14:39] weekend, thanks, thanks, bye bye, bye bye, [00:14:42] look, a huge waterspout was spotted at sea, these [00:14:45] images come from Italy, almost 400 km from Rome, the [00:14:49] phenomenon formed a large funnel between the clouds and the [00:14:52] surface of the sea, the waterspout is a type of tornado that forms [00:14:56] over large areas of water, it arises when hot [00:15:00] and humid air rises quickly and finds favorable conditions to [00:15:03] spin, despite the size and force, the phenomenon did not [00:15:07] cause damage. The month of August was the hottest [00:15:11] ever recorded in the history of [00:15:14] the planet. At this grape farm in [00:15:18] Alentejo, Portugal, work begins at [00:15:20] nightfall. [00:15:23] And they started at 10:30 at [00:15:27] night and will continue harvesting until 6:30 in the morning, the practice was tested for the first time in 2024, since then it has been [00:15:31] adopted by the winery, this night harvest arose from the need [00:15:35] to give better conditions to the [00:15:37] teams to work because Alentejo has a very [00:15:41] very harsh climate during the summer. The concern is the same in Moca [00:15:44] in Japan, where chicken breeders changed feeding times [00:15:48] to after midnight. Birds lose their [00:15:51] appetite when temperatures exceed 35° during the day. [00:15:55] Solutions emerge amid record heat on the planet. [00:15:59] According to the European observatory Copernicus, August was the hottest [00:16:03] month ever recorded in history, with 1.65° above the [00:16:07] pre-industrial average. It was the first time since November last [00:16:10] year that the temperature exceeded the mark of 1.5 above the average, [00:16:14] considered the critical limit by scientists. According to [00:16:17] experts, the heat is a result of the combination of global [00:16:20] warming caused by the burning of fossil fuels and the [00:16:24] intensification of El Niño in the [00:16:25] Pacific. [00:16:28] It is likely that we will see these monthly anomalies [00:16:32] continue to increase, possibly reaching very close to [00:16:35] 2 degrees above the [00:16:38] pre-industrial level and this will probably make 2026 [00:16:42] the second hottest year ever recorded or the hottest [00:16:46] with more records predicted for early [00:16:50] 2027. [00:16:53] This Thursday, the UN climate change chief said that the heatwave [00:16:56] in Europe puts pressure on inflation on the continent and increases the cost of living [00:17:00] for families. The scenario, according to him, could worsen in winter with a [00:17:04] possible fuel crisis and if [00:17:06] we don't quickly reduce [00:17:09] emissions, 75% fossil [00:17:12] fuel burning, oil, [00:17:15] coal, natural gas, we could reach [00:17:19] 2050, 2, 2.5 degrees [00:17:22] hotter, this will generate a much [00:17:26] larger number of these extreme events, heatwaves, [00:17:30] excessive rains, droughts, forest [00:17:34] fires. [00:17:36] Donald Trump says he does not regret going to war against Iran, [00:17:40] and this is one of the international topics we will analyze after the break, don't [00:17:44] miss it, the Record News connection, back in [00:17:46] moments. [00:23:04] A protein extracted from a mollusk can help fight [00:23:08] report. [00:23:12] From the fish markets in Santiago to the laboratories of [00:23:15] the University of Chile, a mollusk known as a loco, [00:23:19] became part of a... research against the most aggressive skin [00:23:22] cancer, a study developed a vaccine that uses [00:23:26] a protein found in the animal to stimulate the immune system [00:23:29] to fight tumor cells. Clinical [00:23:33] study, we concluded a phase one clinical study in patients [00:23:37] with malignant melanoma, which is skin cancer, the most aggressive [00:23:40] skin cancer and one of the most deadly. With [00:23:44] our technologies developed at the University of Chile, [00:23:48] particularly the Trimelvax vaccine. [00:23:50] which consists of the use of conditioned tumor lysates, along with an [00:23:54] adjuvant from a hemocyanin protein from the loco, a [00:23:58] species native to Chile and Peru, this native from here from Chile [00:24:01] and Peru. The first phase of the study evaluated 17 [00:24:04] patients who had disease progression, even after [00:24:08] conventional immunotherapy treatments. The main [00:24:12] objective was to verify the safety of the vaccine in [00:24:15] people with advanced cancer and an unfavorable prognosis. The [00:24:19] results were. [00:24:50] negative sensation, but I continue coming monthly to receive [00:24:53] immunotherapy, [00:24:58] now researchers plan to expand studies to [00:25:02] evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine and test the combination with [00:25:06] other immunotherapy [00:25:07] treatments. [00:25:10] The Houthi rebels arrived at the strategic island of Perim in the [00:25:13] Bab al-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea, the island was [00:25:17] one of the most targeted points by the terrorist group that... tries to control [00:25:21] access to one of the most important maritime routes [00:25:23] in the world. Government sources in Emita said that [00:25:27] troops had withdrawn from the region and that the Houthi rebels had also [00:25:31] taken the coastal city of Idubabe. A military [00:25:35] official from the government acknowledged that the Houthi rebels control the entire [00:25:38] Red Sea coast in Yemen. The sources [00:25:41] also say that the rapid advance of the Houthis in the region [00:25:45] happened under the direct guidance of [00:25:48] Iran's Revolutionary Guard. [00:25:50] Experts warn that the total control of the Strait of [00:25:53] Bab-el-Mandeb by the Houthis could give Iran a [00:25:57] crucial advantage in the war against the United [00:26:00] States. Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil [00:26:03] exporter, depends on the Red Sea route since the [00:26:07] conflict with Iran effectively closed [00:26:10] Hormuz. To provide an analysis is Cléber [00:26:13] Galerani, professor of law and international relations at the University of [00:26:16] Franca. Professor, good afternoon, welcome always. [00:26:19] bem-vindo, [00:26:21] Good afternoon, Kelly, good afternoon to our viewers. What [00:26:25] repercussions can these actions of the [00:26:28] terrorist group have? [00:26:32] We observe that a situation that was already quite difficult [00:26:36] worsened as these advances of the [00:26:40] Houthis under Bab-el-Mandeb, this [00:26:43] threat often allows [00:26:46] the interpretation that two maritime choke points are [00:26:49] transformed into instruments of the same regional war. We already [00:26:53] had the part of the Strait of [00:26:56] Hormuz with difficulty of access corresponding to about [00:26:59] 20% of the oil trade. [00:27:03] Now we have another [00:27:06] access that corresponds to half of that, [00:27:09] more or less depending on the estimates, around 10%. In this [00:27:13] particular context, we have three key [00:27:17] points that I want to highlight. The first [00:27:20] point is the geographical issue, right? There was [00:27:24] a very precise choice when this island of Perim, which is [00:27:27] within Bab-el-Mandeb, was chosen. [00:27:31] We have this passage that connects the Red Sea to the [00:27:35] Gulf of Aden and it is obstructed [00:27:39] and in this context we will observe [00:27:42] that this strategic point makes it very difficult [00:27:46] for that trade developed within this [00:27:50] particular region. The second point is, although we are [00:27:53] talking about regions with a considerable [00:27:56] distance, [00:27:59] Tehran, although many Iranian [00:28:03] officials do not exactly admit that [00:28:06] they made the decision, they indicate that [00:28:10] there are meetings, but that this decision to take [00:28:13] this region would have been made by the [00:28:17] Houthis themselves. Even when this direct command is contested, [00:28:21] the result favors Tehran, increasing [00:28:24] pressure on Washington, increasing the risk for [00:28:27] Saudi Arabia, opening another maritime [00:28:30] front. The third point and as I started [00:28:34] talking about is the energy issue. We [00:28:37] have today Saudi Arabia which is one of the world's largest [00:28:41] oil exporters, it started to depend more [00:28:44] on the Red Sea route after the conflict with Iran [00:28:48] practically closed the Strait of Hormuz, through which about [00:28:52] 1/5 of the world's oil previously passed. If the Houthis [00:28:55] consolidate control of [00:28:58] Bab-el-Mandeb, they could threaten a [00:29:01] second fundamental passage, reducing [00:29:04] the energy flow, increasing pressure on international [00:29:07] oil prices. The risk there is not just in closing a [00:29:11] route, it is often in forcing ships, [00:29:15] insurance companies, markets to treat these two strategic [00:29:17] outlets as a war zone. The strategic [00:29:21] design becomes broader: Iran [00:29:24] exerts pressure in Hormuz while its allies are [00:29:28] gaining ground in Bab-el-Mandeb. In this [00:29:31] new battle for maritime [00:29:34] corridors, controlling an island can be worth [00:29:38] as much as often conquering a city. If the Houthis [00:29:41] consolidate this position, Kelly, the Red [00:29:44] Sea will cease to be just an alternative to the Gulf and [00:29:48] could become the second bottleneck of the same crisis, [00:29:52] generating impact on various countries around the world, including Brazil itself. [00:29:55] Well, Saudi Arabia was already [00:29:58] monitoring this movement of the Houthi terrorist group, so much so [00:30:02] that according to Reuters news agency, the agency stated [00:30:06] today that the Crown Prince [00:30:08] of Saudi Arabia asked Donald Trump for help earlier [00:30:12] this week, precisely to combat the Houthis. However, the President [00:30:16] of the United States reportedly refused to bomb the Houthi terrorist group. [00:30:19] So how does this situation stand, [00:30:22] huh? Well, Kelly, what we observe is that [00:30:25] the United States today is placed on [00:30:29] various battlefronts. As we always discuss on Fridays, [00:30:32] there is often involvement in the war in [00:30:36] Ukraine, there is tension in the Middle East, there is involvement in [00:30:39] exercises in East [00:30:42] Asia, and when we properly observe the [00:30:46] context of the United States, which is a context in [00:30:49] which there is an election year, there is an internal [00:30:53] cost related to the war, there are also rumors that [00:30:57] there is difficulty in accessing weaponry.
