[00:00:03] of the policy, understand the impact, America first, the Scotty [00:00:05] a Nelview. [00:00:17] of The Russian capital comes under heavy Ukrainian [00:00:21] drone attack overnight, ahead [00:00:23] of the third and final day of [00:00:26] in of nationwide elections. Two people are killed in the Moscow region while [00:00:29] a residential build... and an oil refinery were hit [00:00:31] is my [00:00:35] of vote, one of tens of millions being cast around the [00:00:39] donbas, but with every vote cast in the [00:00:42] dumbas, the people [00:00:44] of the dumbas show that those threats don't [00:00:48] scare them. Russian citizens go to the polls all across [00:00:52] the country, even in areas facing daily shelling and threats [00:00:56] from Kiev. Generally speaking, [00:00:59] it is very... difficult to intimidate me, it's just not in my nature. [00:01:03] firstly, i don't recognize the landscate at all, and i don't watch him on [00:01:06] tv. as for [00:01:08] of scammers, they've already left me alone. we have lived too long to be [00:01:11] intimidated. and [00:01:14] a venezuelans take to the streets to protest against an oil deal with the [00:01:17] US, which essentially hands Washington major control [00:01:21] of the country's national oil [00:01:23] resources. [00:01:33] It's just after 11:00 am here in Moscow, Russia, and you're watching the weekly [00:01:37] on RT [00:01:38] of International. My name is Donald Corder, it's good to have you [00:01:40] of with us in the program. Now our top story, we start [00:01:44] with breaking news, as [00:01:46] of elections are underway across Russia on the third and final day of [00:01:49] voting. The nation's air defenses have repelled the heaviest drone [00:01:53] of attack [00:01:53] of the war so far, involving 1,600 [00:01:57] UAVs. The capital itself faced a... huge [00:02:00] of drone swarm, according to the city's mayor. The most [00:02:04] massive enemy drone attack has been repelled since yesterday. Over [00:02:08] a 1,600 UAVs have been shot down across all [00:02:11] sectors, including [00:02:13] of 450 while approaching Moscow. My thanks go to the air defense [00:02:17] personnel for their selfless efforts. Nevertheless, few drones [00:02:20] reached the Moscow Oil refinery and one struck [00:02:23] a residential building. There were no fatalities. This [00:02:27] unprecedented attack [00:02:28] of was clearly orchestrated to disrupt the elections, the enemy failed in [00:02:32] this attempt. well [00:02:35] to get more on this breaking news story, now we're going to cross live to RT correspondent [00:02:39] Isabella Blumberg. Isabella, Kiev has carried out a large-scale [00:02:43] attack on Moscow and the Moscow region, as we just mentioned in the [00:02:46] program. what do we know so far in terms of [00:02:48] details? [00:02:52] thank you Donald, well as you've mentioned overnight, Moscow and the [00:02:56] nearby regions came under direct attack from Ukrainian t [00:03:00] and all of this happening in the middle of elections, now the [00:03:04] of re the Moscow region governor [00:03:05] of reports that air defense systems were able to intercept [00:03:08] 240 drones across 17 different [00:03:12] of districts, but the numbers are even higher once you zoom out here, because [00:03:16] Moscow's mayor says [00:03:18] in that [00:03:18] in almost uh around 450 drones were also intercepted, [00:03:22] those drones were apparently headed to Moscow to the [00:03:25] of Russian capital, the same time Russia's Ministry of Defense has reported that they were [00:03:29] ' to intercept and destroy over [00:03:32] 1,100 drones and aerial targets there as [00:03:35] well. In terms of casualties, in Moscow and the surrounding [00:03:39] region, two [00:03:40] of people have been [00:03:41] of killed and 20 people now require medical assistance, [00:03:45] including three children. Officials say that a man in [00:03:48] of Aria and [00:03:50] of woman in Raminski were also killed, and the central electoral commission [00:03:54] authorities [00:03:55] of report that during today's massive drone attack, member [00:03:59] of the election commission was injured as [00:04:01] well. [00:04:05] Today, September 20th, as [00:04:07] a result of a targeted drone attack a civilian bus in the Carson region, [00:04:11] two people were killed. One [00:04:13] of the victims was our colleague Olga Petrovna [00:04:15] of Damianyenko, born in 1966, member [00:04:17] of the precinct electoral commission for polling station number 220 in the [00:04:21] lower Saragor district [00:04:22] of the Carson region. Olga Petrovna was a member [00:04:25] of the presenct electoral [00:04:27] of commission for 2023 and actively participated. [00:04:30] in the current election campaign for the state dumer elections, engaging with many of her [00:04:34] neighbors, fellow citizens and compatriots, while honestly, responsibly and [00:04:37] bravely fulfilling her duties. she was involved in conducting early voting in [00:04:41] the lower Saragor district [00:04:43] of the Kerson [00:04:43] in region. her [00:04:44] a daughter, elena Petrovna, is also member [00:04:46] of the precinct electoral commission. as i mentioned before, i will repeat it once [00:04:50] more, despicable, cowardly bandera scum who are afraid to fight like [00:04:54] of men of and truly engage in warfare, target our peaceful people, primarily women and [00:04:58] children. i believe that will fall upon them and each one [00:05:01] of them will be found. our strong spirited colleagues continue to [00:05:07] of work. at the same time moscow's mayorban says [00:05:10] that thankfully there have been no deaths but that... drones have managed to get through [00:05:14] and attack a Moscow oil refinery, another drone managed to reach [00:05:18] residential building in Moscow as well. now the attack also led to a [00:05:22] temporary closure of all four Moscow airports and at the same [00:05:25] time Russia's Mod reports that it targeted and destroyed Ukrainian [00:05:29] military infrastructure, particularly in the black sea port, in the [00:05:33] Kiev region, in the Odessa region and uh [00:05:36] specifically targeting warehouses and vessels that carrying Ukrainian [00:05:40] military equipment. Well, [00:05:44] this also comes of course, as the third and final day the State Duma [00:05:48] Elections is kicked off already in Russia. What else can you tell us about [00:05:52] that? Absolutely Don, [00:05:56] well today across 11 different time zones in Russia. [00:05:59] Voters are heading to the poles to vote for the third and final day of [00:06:03] Russia's parliamentary elections. Now polling stations are open [00:06:07] nationwide with the central electoral commission reporting that [00:06:11] voter turn now is now. reaching almost 47 to [00:06:14] 48%. now it's quite important to highlight here that [00:06:18] these elections are the first ones we've seen since the start the special military [00:06:22] operation which was launched back in February 2022 and for [00:06:26] the first time in modern Russian history we're seeing uh people citizens [00:06:30] from the Doñatsk Lugansk People's Republic from Herson and Zaparogia cast their [00:06:33] vote and ballot as Russian citizens. let me break down [00:06:37] how the these parliamentary elections actually work. the state doomer [00:06:41] forms the lower chamber of Federal assembly, it consists of [00:06:44] 400 seats. These elections take place every five years, [00:06:48] 225 seats are determined and distributed through party [00:06:52] lists. Now what that means is that voters are able to select a a [00:06:56] specific political party, the other 225 seats are [00:07:00] distributed through a single mandate district, so that's when voters are able [00:07:04] to pick a specific candidate in their constituency or [00:07:08] district, and for a political party to actually reach [00:07:12] the... doomer has to meet this 5% threshhold and of [00:07:15] course voting takes day for takes three days instead of this traditional [00:07:19] one day window to make um voting more accessible for Russian [00:07:23] citizens. In terms of who's um buying for seats here, [00:07:27] there are 10 political parties on the federal ballot. The first one [00:07:31] being United Russia, a party founded in 2001, and a party that [00:07:35] has enjoyed constitutional majority and it's also considered president Putin's [00:07:38] party. Then we also have the communist party the Russian Federation. It's [00:07:42] traditionally considered the oldest political party in the ballot. [00:07:46] We have a Just Russia. Paul suggests that they will be able to meet the [00:07:50] 5% threshold during these parliamentary elections. Uh, then we have [00:07:53] the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, now chaired by Leonid [00:07:57] Slotsky. And of course we have um a relatively new party [00:08:01] here on the scene, this being uh new people, a party founded in [00:08:05] 2020, and curiously, [00:08:07] it managed to also pass through to [00:08:09] the Duma, acquiring the 5% during the previous 2021. elections [00:08:13] as well, then we also have five non-parliamentary parties on the [00:08:16] ballot, this being the pensionist party, the greens, rodina, [00:08:20] communists of Russia as well as the party of direct [00:08:23] democracy, so to wrap up as we know poll's closed [00:08:27] tonight uh, local time across Russia's western regions, [00:08:31] but to discuss this vote further, I'm joined by Jackson Hinkel, an [00:08:35] American political commentator and host the legitimate [00:08:39] Targets broadcast. Thank you so much for joining us here today, thank you. [00:08:42] so Moscow's mayor has said that this uh this the capital has come [00:08:46] under this barrage of drones, this significant drone attack, [00:08:50] and obviously this is being planned against the backdrop these elections. what is your [00:08:54] reaction to this? it's just terrorism. mean it's an [00:08:58] effort to try and stifle the voter [00:09:01] participation, to make people think twice about who they're voting [00:09:05] for, [00:09:06] but we've seen this time and time again, we see Zelinsky and his [00:09:09] terrorist crooks try escalate this conflict. "and low and [00:09:13] behold, each and every time we see Russia respond in very meaningful [00:09:17] way on military and energy infrastructure, I think is going to be [00:09:21] coming up soon, and then you have Zelinski crying, why cry [00:09:25] when you're the one that started this? I mean absolutely, [00:09:27] and also kind of uh brings this other point because [00:09:31] Mosco's says that uh these Ukrainian drone [00:09:34] attacks managed to reach this moscow oil refinery, but this also comes as Donald [00:09:38] Trump has called on Zelensky and Kiev to stop to halt a..." tax [00:09:42] on energy infrastructure, so why is Zelensky actively going against [00:09:46] Washington here? oh, it's a good question, I thought the same thing when [00:09:50] I first saw the news and it's definitely not going to help these diesel prices [00:09:54] in America, and it's it's crisis right [00:09:58] now in America and in Europe as well, with their gas [00:10:01] and uh oil reserves running very low, Saudi Arabia obviously can't [00:10:05] export any oil to Europe at this point in time, so the idea that [00:10:09] Zinsky is doing this when he knows he's going to be invited. [00:10:13] Russian attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, none [00:10:17] of it makes sense, but you could say that about lot the decisions that we've seen [00:10:21] from Zelinsky since this [00:10:23] SMO began. I think... quite hard to ignore that Russia and [00:10:27] authorities are holding these parliamentary elections amid the special [00:10:31] military operation, this war, but on the flip side we have Vladimir Zelensky [00:10:34] who continuously refuses to hold elections in Ukraine. Why do you think that's the [00:10:38] case? Well, I think it's the case, because he he would [00:10:42] lose, he'd lose. Everyone understands this, everyone understands [00:10:46] in Ukraine that he's extremely corrupt, they're very upset with uh [00:10:50] some the changes that we've seen even recently in Ukraine's [00:10:53] military infrastructure. with uh federov being replaced, there's [00:10:57] protests in the streets, everyone understands in Ukraine that this needs to come to an [00:11:01] end, it's not serving any good purpose for the people of [00:11:05] Ukraine, and well I don't think that there's any leaders in [00:11:08] Ukraine right now who are willing to take that stand, they know that [00:11:12] Zelinski definitely is not going to lead them down that path. you quite [00:11:15] curiously mentioned field off here because initially the west kind of [00:11:18] uh kind of showed him in this picture that he was you [00:11:22] know this revolutionary guy. uh trying to put [00:11:26] forward the new tech to to develop drone [00:11:30] production and what not, but now ever since he's outright called on [00:11:34] zelensky to hold elections, the west seems to have turned on him and say that he's a western [00:11:38] puppet, sorry cramland puppet, why do you think the shift [00:11:41] narrative? i think because in [00:11:45] the west if Zelinski is gone they probably want Zelujin, [00:11:49] the Ukrainian ambassador to the UK to lead the country, [00:11:53] and there's been so much money put into propping up solugini and [00:11:57] federov kind of came out of nowhere and for some reason he uh he [00:12:00] resonated with the Ukrainian some some sex the Ukrainian people obviously [00:12:04] the majority the Ukrainian people don't want this to continue uh [00:12:08] but I think there's just so much money involved there making trillions and [00:12:12] trillions of dollars and for what what what is that [00:12:16] money going to be worth when they're sitting in the deepest pits of hell I i don't [00:12:19] know uh the Russian electoral commission had said Kiev strike on [00:12:23] the Hasson region killed. member the local electoral [00:12:27] committee, why do [00:12:28] you think Kiev is taking aim at an election committee members in [00:12:32] these new territories? well they're trying to make voters in [00:12:36] these new territories fearful of participating in the democratic [00:12:39] process. guess uh Zelinski feels as though they [00:12:42] shouldn't be able to vote at all whether for you know Russian [00:12:46] elections or Ukrainian elections because he refuses to still hold them for [00:12:50] his people in his country, but um it obviously hasn't been [00:12:53] successful, we've seen very... high voter turnout in the new [00:12:56] territories, and uh, I, I think it goes without saying [00:13:00] that people there feel proud and uh, they have a sense of honor to [00:13:04] participate in these elections after being disrespected by the authorities [00:13:08] in Kieve for so many years. Zelensky listed the [00:13:12] UAVs and missiles key have used in this latest enslot on [00:13:15] Russia, some of which are obviously funded by the west, while others are co-produced [00:13:19] with with the western arm manufacturers. What do you really [00:13:23] make of that? I think that everything that Ukraine is doing right now [00:13:27] is at the behest of Europe of course, but also lot these [00:13:31] operations are being let up by the CIA and John Ratcliff. We've [00:13:35] seen since John Radcliff came into power as the director the CIA, he's [00:13:38] more than doubled the CIA personnel active in [00:13:42] Ukraine, so that begs the question, uh, why does Trump [00:13:46] keep acting as though he wants peace with Russia if he's escalating [00:13:50] this conflict? Uh, why are they introducing these new Russia Iran [00:13:53] sanctions and? [00:13:55] ending of Lindsay, I don't think that Trump is [00:13:58] serious at this [00:13:59] all about conflict, I think it's a big fake out. These uh, [00:14:03] effectively the first parliamentary elections we're seeing since the start [00:14:06] the conflict, what do you think voters are looking for [00:14:09] now? I think they're looking for [00:14:13] members the duma who are going to address [00:14:17] whatever, economic issues, they they feel maybe in their [00:14:20] own homes, maybe providing more economic support to families across. [00:14:25] Russia, but also I think they're looking for leaders who are [00:14:29] going to punish you know the western parties that are responsible for this [00:14:32] conflict, the terrorist actions that we're seeing today uh in and around [00:14:36] Moscow, and I think they're going to favor very hardline uh leaders [00:14:40] in the Duma who are going to fight the western powers. Absolutely, [00:14:44] we'll have to leave it there. Jackson Hinkel, thank you so much for joining us here today [00:14:48] in the studio. That was Jackson Hencle, an American political commentator and host [00:14:52] the legitimate Targets podcast. Thank you. [00:14:57] Isabella Bloomberg and Jackson Hinkel break breaking down the details of that [00:15:01] very interesting [00:15:05] vote is also taking place in territories that are coming under [00:15:08] daily attack, but despite the threat posed by Ukraine, [00:15:12] people say that they are determined to have their voices heard. The head the [00:15:16] Donyetsk People's Republic has casted his vote a local polling [00:15:20] station, noting that he met quite a few people who wanted to vote in their [00:15:24] first ever... state duma election [00:15:27] RT reports on how the vote is being held under [00:15:31] wartime conditions across two [00:15:34] continents and 11 time zones and peaceless [00:15:38] threat of attack, Russians vote for their new [00:15:41] parliament, [00:15:52] in their millions, despite constant threats from [00:15:56] Ukraine, threats of prosecution and [00:15:59] persecution, just for voting, attacks on [00:16:03] polling stations, fakes and Ukrainian propaganda. [00:16:08] Yesterday and the day before, leaflets were dropped by drones [00:16:12] across most of our region, containing calls to block the [00:16:15] electoral process and urging people not to participate in the [00:16:19] elections. Every day we are seeing a steady stream of two or [00:16:23] three disinformation campaigns coming from the Ukrainian side, [00:16:27] along with deep fakes and forged administrative documents, [00:16:30] yet few are afraid, people are used to [00:16:34] drones and missiles, verbal threats. no [00:16:38] longer carry the same weight. tell me, have you been [00:16:42] intimidated? did Zelensky threaten you saying you shouldn't go to [00:16:45] these elections? in no way, he can't do [00:16:49] anything. of course not. generally speaking, it is [00:16:53] very difficult to intimidate me, it's just not in my nature. [00:16:57] god forbid. firstly, i don't recognize the landscate all, and i [00:17:00] don't watch him on tv. as for scammers, they've already left me [00:17:04] alone. we have lived too long to be intimidated. [00:17:09] and that is my vote, one of tens of [00:17:12] millions being cast around the donbas an [00:17:16] environment where people are actively being threatened, [00:17:20] where electoral officials are receiving death threats, their [00:17:24] families, their children, but with every vote cast in [00:17:28] the don bass, the people the donbas [00:17:31] show that those threats don't scare [00:17:35] them, not even strongly word. and statements [00:17:38] and condemnation could stop these [00:17:41] elections. At today's meeting, the central electoral commission [00:17:45] adopted resolution declaring that the organization and conduct of elections [00:17:49] for deputies to the state Duma the Russian Federation in the temporarily [00:17:52] occupied territories of Ukraine are illegitimate. It is, of [00:17:56] course, ironic that Ukraine forbids Ukrainians [00:18:00] from voting in these Russian elections, because [00:18:04] neither does it allow Ukrainians themselves and [00:18:07] elections, they're too dangerous, says the former [00:18:11] president of Ukraine. Elections as such are [00:18:15] huge risk. Elections right now are a tsunami which could split [00:18:18] Ukraine. Again, the irony: Ukraine professes [00:18:22] to be fighting for freedom and democracy, but says [00:18:25] elections are too dangerous. Russia, which Kiev [00:18:29] accuses of aggression and tyrany, holds elections even [00:18:33] in war. He's holding elections in September. needs [00:18:37] a united society that will support his united Russia. [00:18:41] Zelensky, on the other hand, doesn't need his society [00:18:45] support, his term expired two years ago, [00:18:49] and no one can do anything about it. He already [00:18:52] controls all Ukrainian media, all newspapers [00:18:56] and online publications, full spectrum [00:19:00] propaganda. Anyone who criticizes him can be [00:19:03] sanctioned, Ukrainian or otherwise, else. [00:19:07] a one way trip to the front lines, so [00:19:11] elections, you want elections as ready to do it tomorrow, but if [00:19:15] we have the war, it's you can't do it, what elections, how [00:19:19] to make elections with the 9 million people who are abroad, and what to [00:19:23] do with the people who are temporary or live [00:19:27] in temporary occupied territories, europe of course [00:19:31] will bend over backwards to accommodate [00:19:34] Zelensky, the EU's diplomatic [00:19:38] figure head is never one to overthink it, [00:19:42] simple and cliche is her style. Putin hasn't [00:19:45] had elections or Russia hasn't had elections in 25 [00:19:49] years. Zelensky is elected leader, [00:19:52] elected in the free and fair elections and of course during the [00:19:56] wartime you can't have elections. Zelensky's corrupt [00:20:00] ministers, his army heads simply don't [00:20:03] mind. So long as the EU supports Zelensky. [00:20:07] the aid money pours in and it can [00:20:11] be divided up and shared around between [00:20:14] friends. the only concern is the people of [00:20:18] Ukraine forced brutally to fight a war [00:20:21] they don't want to fight in, by a president they don't [00:20:25] want, blasted by propaganda, they don't agree [00:20:29] with, and there's nothing they can do about it, [00:20:33] but daydream. we must find a legal, safe and realistic [00:20:36] mechanism. that will allow Ukraine to restore a full-fledged democratic [00:20:40] process even under the conditions of a prolonged war. This is [00:20:44] difficult. We must guarantee the right to vote for our military, for millions of [00:20:48] Ukrainians abroad, and for the... in the frontline regions, we [00:20:52] must ensure the security the electoral process, the independence of [00:20:55] institutions and trust in the results. if Russia could do [00:20:59] it, then so could Ukraine, and the only thing [00:21:03] stopping elections in Ukraine is the former president, [00:21:07] one Zelensky who just doesn't [00:21:11] want to [00:21:11] leave. [00:21:16] a country that stretches 11 time zones and has over [00:21:20] 110 million voters, organizing nationwide vote is [00:21:24] no mean feat. Here's a breakdown of how the world's biggest [00:21:27] country in the world is handling the election [00:21:30] process. [00:23:26] "Well, it may be the last day of voting, but there's still a way, there's still a [00:23:30] way to go before we know who will actually represent this vast country in [00:23:34] parliament for the next five years. The first preliminary results will [00:23:38] be available tonight after 9 p.m. Moscow time, but the final [00:23:41] figures will not be officially confirmed until October 5th. [00:23:45] Make sure to stay tuned to RT for all the latest updates." [00:24:00] Now another news, protesters have taken to the streets of Karacas in [00:24:04] protest a US Venezuela oil deal, which they believe [00:24:07] threatens their country's sovereignty. Estamos [00:24:11] aquí, we are here a group of men and women from different administrative [00:24:15] bodies to condemn the handing over of our resources. We've not given them [00:24:18] away neither to. american people, nor much less to Trump, we [00:24:22] have given nothing away. The Venezuelan people are saying that the oil belongs to us [00:24:26] and we will recover not only the oil, but also our [00:24:29] sovereignty. We reject this agreement because it [00:24:33] represents a surrender of sovereignty, a surrender of national wealth [00:24:37] to imperialist capital and subordination to the interests the US [00:24:41] government and American transnational corporations. It is [00:24:44] handing over the country to transnational capital and to US [00:24:48] imperialism in particular. The deal announced by the White [00:24:52] House last month grants the US access to 65 [00:24:56] billion barrels of oil in Venezuela through a private [00:24:59] firm in which the Pentagon holds a 35% stake [00:25:03] via a parent company. As part the agreement, the US will get [00:25:07] 20% of Venezuelan oil production at [00:25:10] cost. Washington's also removed Karacas [00:25:14] from its drug trafficking list for the first time in over 20 [00:25:17] years. The White House cites what it calls. positive steps by [00:25:21] the interim government, which came to power after US forces [00:25:24] abducted the Venezuelan president, Nicholas Maduro and his wife [00:25:28] and brought them [00:25:29] to the US to face federal narcoterrorism charges. [00:25:32] Washington has long claimed that Maduro himself was behind the South [00:25:36] American country's drug trafficking [00:25:39] network. Maduro's reign of terror [00:25:42] continues. He is one the largest narcotraffikers [00:25:46] in the world and a threat to our national. [00:25:51] Now professor of Latin American Studies [00:25:53] at the City University [00:25:54] of New York Daniel Shaw says that the U.S. government uses [00:25:58] this war on drugs as a pretext for many of its actions. [00:26:03] they simply use the quote unquote war on drugs as a [00:26:06] ideological and media uh justification for what [00:26:10] they're doing. um, they took Venezuela [00:26:14] off of this list for completely hypocritical, politicized [00:26:17] reasons. here in the streets the Bronx and across the United [00:26:21] States. we continue to see fetinol, we continue to see uh deadly [00:26:25] drugs, many of which come uh right from here and are made uh [00:26:29] right here in the US and for so long the United States. has [00:26:32] been uh the biggest drug dealer in the world, they were caught [00:26:36] red-handed smuggling um cocaine into self central [00:26:40] Los Angeles, there was an entire congressional inquiry led by former [00:26:44] presidential candidate John Kerry in 1986, [00:26:48] so this is a politicized decision, everything has changed [00:26:52] in Venezuela since January 3rd, uh Delsey [00:26:55] Rodriguez and Diostalo Cavillo in this uh quote-unquote [00:26:59] Boulevarian leadership with a gun to their... had felt like they [00:27:03] had other options and they've now complied uh, [00:27:06] whatever the Trump administration, whatever the class of epsteen [00:27:10] billionaires says is what they do, they've done military [00:27:14] exercises uh together, they've granted concessions to [00:27:18] us mining companies now, we know about the [00:27:21] 100-year proporter deal um for [00:27:24] Venezuela's oil to come into the [00:27:27] US, now a [00:27:31] massive defense deal, was also on the table between Washington and [00:27:34] Riad. The State Department has officially approved deal regarding the [00:27:38] sale of F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. It's an [00:27:42] agreement that's valued at over $24 billion dollars and it [00:27:46] represents a significant expansion the kingdom's advanced [00:27:49] military capabilities. The US Department of State [00:27:53] has made determination approving a possible foreign military [00:27:57] sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their purchase of F-35 [00:28:01] Lightning 2 joint strike. fighter and related equipment, the [00:28:04] estimated total cost is $24.3 [00:28:07] billion. Earlier we spoke with a former [00:28:10] US air force lieutenant colonel who told us that the US is selling [00:28:14] solution to a problem that it itself [00:28:17] created. First off, you can't conquer a country with airpower [00:28:21] alone, that is well-known. The United States likes to ignore [00:28:25] that because we have uh, what we call air superiority everywhere, we [00:28:29] say, can you achieve objectives with the F-30? five not [00:28:33] really, can you fight um people that are defending their [00:28:37] own territory and have uh developed [00:28:40] a uh robust defensive [00:28:44] capability? no, no, you can't, we've [00:28:48] seen this, I mean we the number of airplanes we've lost going up [00:28:51] against Iran alone in the past six months has [00:28:55] been uh just absolutely shocking. now is this [00:28:59] something where we create um a problem? and [00:29:02] then sell the solution, of course, of course it is, that that's the very nature [00:29:06] the United States military industrial complex, yeah, I think we're we're [00:29:10] selling them precisely because it benefits America [00:29:13] financially, um, it benefits the military industrial complex here to [00:29:17] sell these aircraft, it benefits the United States uh a a [00:29:21] few different ways by having interoperable aircraft in Saudi [00:29:25] Arabia and um being able to actually see what the Saudies are [00:29:28] doing with those aircraft because [00:29:30] you know the F-35 is is really a software driven [00:29:33] platform, so uh, the things that it does, the functions that it [00:29:37] has, uh, we will have insight into how the Saudies are conducting [00:29:41] themselves, which is something that we want, because we don't trust them, okay, and neither does [00:29:45] Israel, so um, this serves [00:29:48] America's interest, it really doesn't serve Saudi's interest at [00:29:52] all.
