[00:01:38] Welcome to the details. The Syrian Grain Corporation announced [00:01:41] that the country has achieved self-sufficiency in [00:01:44] a two-way road. We worked last wheat for the first time in years after the quantities [00:01:47] studying this delivered from this season's crop exceeded its annual [00:01:50] needs. SANA news agency quoted the Deputy Director General of the Corporation, [00:01:53] Ahmed Kadoun, [00:01:56] Examination departments in Latakia as saying that the total [00:01:57] witnessed a wide turnout from quantities of wheat received in various governorates [00:02:00] have reached so far two million and 700 thousand tons. [00:02:03] Kadoun added that [00:02:06] be very delayed the received quantities exceeded Syria's annual need for wheat, which is [00:02:10] two million and 550 [00:02:13] thousand tons, which reflects the country's achievement of self-sufficiency in the crop. [00:02:17] they registered about 100 names, [00:02:34] matter in the economic let people into the halls. Let I welcome my guest, Mustafa the form in ten minutes, the issue [00:02:37] Al-Sayed, the economic expert, with me from Berlin. Welcome, Mr. [00:02:40] Mustafa. To what extent can the announcement of achieving self-sufficiency in wheat [00:02:45] People are just standing be considered a turning point in the Syrian economy? [00:02:48] It is a [00:02:51] real [00:02:53] and effective [00:02:56] sign that has occurred in the recovery of the [00:03:00] wheat farming sector in Syria, as [00:03:03] Airport for the first international Syria, since the beginning of the Syrian revolution [00:03:06] and the aggression launched by the former Syrian regime [00:03:10] against the Syrian people, has entered [00:03:14] into several stages of [00:03:18] a shortage of wheat [00:03:21] needs. [00:03:23] Production in Syria [00:03:25] has decreased from 4.9 [00:03:28] million tons [00:03:31] annually [00:03:33] until it reached last year [00:03:36] the lowest level we have [00:03:39] seen, meaning less than half the quantity produced this year [00:03:44] coordination in this was produced last year, or even slightly less than half [00:03:47] the quantity. Therefore, Syria has now entered [00:03:50] the stage of self-sufficiency [00:03:54] in its wheat needs, in addition [00:03:58] to having now a greater ability to [00:04:01] store to achieve strategic [00:04:05] security in the matter of wheat. [00:04:08] That is, there is, [00:04:11] according to the quantities received [00:04:13] until [00:04:16] effects that occur on yesterday, about 15,000 [00:04:19] tons in surplus of [00:04:22] local needs, [00:04:25] control and I believe that the number is slightly [00:04:28] visited Syria on July 7th and affirmed higher than that. [00:04:33] to service after years of [00:04:36] exceeds the annual needs, as [00:04:39] per the latest information. [00:04:41] In a direct way, [00:04:44] this quantity that was produced [00:04:48] and delivered to the Grain Corporation saved Syria [00:04:51] about 550 million [00:04:54] We commend Syria and Iraq for dollars in foreign [00:04:56] and movement and shortens currency. Therefore, this represents [00:04:59] a matter that brings comfort to the Central [00:05:02] Bank, to the Ministry of Finance, to the Ministry of Economy, [00:05:06] and to the economic planner in Syria [00:05:09] because it managed to save [00:05:12] approximately 550 million [00:05:15] dollars in foreign currency that used to be spent on [00:05:19] importing wheat to secure the flour [00:05:23] needs of the Syrian people. So, the strategic [00:05:26] food security for Syrians [00:05:29] for this year can be said, [00:05:32] and with all praise and thanks to God Almighty, that it has been [00:05:35] achieved thanks to [00:05:39] the heavy rains or the rainy season that [00:05:43] this year witnessed, as the [00:05:47] area of [00:05:49] rainfed [00:05:52] lands that [00:05:54] year is more than [00:05:58] irrigated lands by about 200,000 [00:06:01] hectares today. What is the size of the savings that the general [00:06:05] treasury can achieve, of course, as a result of reducing the wheat import [00:06:09] bill in general? [00:06:12] The first issue, I mean, the issue of providing [00:06:16] foreign currency, is far more important [00:06:18] than [00:06:20] the issue of the lira. The issue of the lira, [00:06:24] I mean, the method that the Grain Corporation [00:06:27] used to pay farmers' dues [00:06:31] quickly [00:06:33] made this monetary mass directly [00:06:36] available to farmers, and therefore [00:06:40] this will create a complete [00:06:44] economic cycle in Syria now [00:06:47] as the farmer in [00:06:50] Syria, [00:06:52] or the wheat farmer, has regained his productive [00:06:56] capacity, in addition to [00:06:58] the [00:07:00] credit he used in the farming [00:07:04] process being repaid quickly through the use [00:07:08] of good software. [00:07:12] The disbursement operations were relatively efficient, [00:07:16] and they used to [00:07:19] in previous years. In addition, [00:07:22] the delivery operations, generally [00:07:26] speaking, there was a relative satisfaction [00:07:29] at its highest [00:07:31] level regarding [00:07:34] the issue of corruption in delivery operations, [00:07:37] as any cases of corruption [00:07:40] were reported and dealt with directly, [00:07:44] which is a positive [00:07:46] situation in Syria, [00:07:50] as Syria has now entered [00:07:53] a stage of [00:07:56] reducing the scope of corruption in Syria, [00:07:59] and this is one of the most [00:08:03] important incentives for the Syrian economy: [00:08:06] reducing the scope of corruption. Yes, also, [00:08:09] speaking of the Syrian lira, as you mentioned today, [00:08:13] can this improvement, in one way or another, reflect on the exchange [00:08:17] rate of the Syrian lira, even indirectly? [00:08:20] Absolutely, absolutely, I mean, if [00:08:23] there were no political [00:08:25] speculators in the Syrian lira, it is expected that [00:08:29] the Syrian lira at [00:08:32] this level should move [00:08:36] well in price against the dollar, because [00:08:39] you have practically saved a large [00:08:42] amount of foreign currency that the balance [00:08:46] of payments needed. [00:08:49] Therefore, we are seeing that [00:08:53] when there is a political predicament or an economic [00:08:56] predicament, the value of the lira falls, [00:09:00] but when we notice that there is [00:09:03] a positive event or a high production process [00:09:07] like this process, [00:09:09] we do not see a positive impact. [00:09:12] The lira, as it should, and this means [00:09:16] that the Central Bank and the government, [00:09:20] and the Syrian government as a whole, must [00:09:23] re-examine the [00:09:28] the lira, especially after the completion of currency [00:09:32] exchange operations, as the Syrian Central Bank can [00:09:35] now better the cash [00:09:39] liquidity in the market [00:09:42] and the Central Bank has become more capable [00:09:46] of estimating the amounts of currency [00:09:49] that enter speculative operations, [00:09:52] and therefore expectations are that [00:09:56] the Syrian lira will improve due to the positive [00:09:59] improvement in the balance of payments. Thank you very much, [00:10:02] Mustafa Al-Sayed, the economic expert, who was with me from [00:10:05] Berlin. Welcome. Welcome. [00:10:07] اهلا [00:10:10] President Ahmed Al-Shara issued a decree appointing Ahmed Rawad Ramadan [00:10:14] as Director General of the Investment Authority. Ramadan previously [00:10:17] held the position of Chairman of the Syrian Council [00:10:20] for Coordinating Joint Business Councils in the Ministry of Economy [00:10:23] and Industry. He also previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Syrian [00:10:26] Turkish Business [00:10:27] Council. [00:10:32] The Syrian Electricity Company signed three agreements in the field of energy [00:10:36] production with the Saudi Al-Harf Contracting Company. The agreements [00:10:40] were signed at the company's headquarters in Damascus and included [00:10:43] the implementation of solar power plant projects in the [00:10:46] Wadi Al-Rabi' area in rural Damascus with a total capacity of [00:10:50] 760 megawatts with battery energy storage [00:10:53] systems with a capacity of. [00:11:07] President Ahmed Al-Sharif said in a video call during the opening of Deir ez-Zor [00:11:11] International Airport that work is underway on comprehensive development plans [00:11:14] for the eastern region, including Deir ez-Zor, Hasakah, and Raqqa, [00:11:18] among them the establishment of a hospital for cancer diseases in [00:11:21] Deir ez-Zor and the implementation of the international road project between Deir ez-Zor [00:11:25] and Damascus. In development plans, [00:11:29] we are working on for the Eastern [00:11:31] Region, Deir ez-Zor, Hasakah, Raqqa, and all [00:11:35] of Syria, but there is a specificity to the Eastern [00:11:38] Region and its abundant [00:11:42] so we have worked on a gradual development plan for it, [00:11:46] including the rehabilitation of infrastructure and also the rehabilitation of the health [00:11:50] sector there. So there is also a hospital [00:11:52] for some cancerous [00:11:56] tumors that will also be worked on, costing [00:11:59] approximately 21 million dollars, [00:12:02] and also the road connecting Damascus [00:12:05] and Deir ez-Zor, also [00:12:09] year on [00:12:12] road, and we have almost reached the end of the road, [00:12:16] costing approximately between [00:12:20] 275 million dollars to 300 million dollars. Work will begin [00:12:23] on it soon, God willing. [00:12:26] President Al-Sharif added that there is a project to establish a large [00:12:30] industrial city that includes food industries [00:12:33] and petrochemical industries, with the aim of exporting [00:12:37] products from Deir Ezzor directly abroad. There is also [00:12:40] a project for a large industrial city that will also have food [00:12:43] industries and petrochemical [00:12:47] industries to provide great employment opportunities and also to export products directly [00:12:51] from Deir Ezzor to all parts [00:12:54] of the world. How will the people of Deir Ezzor produce in Deir [00:12:58] Ezzor soon, God willing? So, God [00:13:01] willing, we are working on all these projects diligently. We need [00:13:04] some time until these projects are completed, [00:13:08] and we do not consider anything too much for our people in Deir Ezzor and our people in the Eastern [00:13:11] region as well. These are just the beginnings, God [00:13:15] willing, and the first thing we will start with is connecting [00:13:18] roads so that people can travel to and from Deir Ezzor [00:13:22] safely and comfortably. Thank God, the trip [00:14:09] was comfortable. Syrian Airlines did not [00:14:12] fall short. Before, we used to suffer, I mean, we would [00:14:16] go down to Damascus, then go down to Deir. God willing, it will save time and effort and provide [00:15:27] them with comfortable, safe, and easier [00:15:30] travel options. The Authority's Director [00:25:58] of Relations, Mazen Alloush, stated to SANA news agency [00:26:02] that the closure is based on the Turkish [00:26:05] side's decision to suspend work during the specified day, [00:26:09] urging travelers to take note of the closure time when planning [00:26:12] their upcoming [00:26:19] trips. The Damascus Countryside Governorate handed over approximately 380 [00:26:23] residential apartments within the expanded Qudsaya suburb project [00:26:26] to subscribers who completed allocation and contracting [00:26:29] procedures. This came within the framework of the youth [00:26:33] housing project implemented by the General Housing [00:26:36] Establishment as part of completing housing projects and enhancing [00:26:40] residential stability for beneficiaries. [00:26:47] Dozens of high school students gathered at the examination [00:26:50] department in Daraa city to submit their objections to the examination results for the secondary [00:26:54] certificate. The center witnessed congestion since the early [00:26:58] morning hours. [00:27:05] Guys, my total is 220, and I lost ten [00:27:08] marks in science. I get full marks in science, and I lost ten [00:27:11] marks in Arabic. I lost five [00:27:14] marks, and I get full marks in Arabic as well. [00:27:18] I don't know how the grading is done. Last year I got good marks, [00:27:21] and this year I repeated to get better marks. I submitted and saw my marks [00:27:25] that I did well, meaning I should have gotten better than this, but I was surprised [00:27:28] by these marks. I mean, I submitted marks, and we worked very hard for them for a whole [00:27:31] year. From giving [00:27:34] lessons and I worked [00:27:36] very hard, no sleep at night, and in the end I found [00:27:39] my marks were surprising. So we [00:27:42] appeal to His Excellency the Minister of Education [00:27:45] to consider these students, because [00:27:49] it doesn't appear otherwise that all of them [00:27:52] have been wronged. [00:28:00] students, leading to severe overcrowding in front of the objection [00:28:03] application centers. This comes amidst students' attempts [00:28:07] to review their results and ensure the accuracy of the recorded [00:28:10] marks. [00:28:13] Since seven o'clock, people have not submitted anything, everyone is turning back. Those who come must [00:28:16] let people back in and by God, [00:28:20] and it's useless. I came to submit an objection for my daughter's English [00:28:23] mark, we were struggling with it, so I don't know why the situation [00:28:27] is so chaotic, very, very chaotic, not like this. We are in front of a school, [00:28:33] them distribute people to the halls and distribute [00:28:36] ends. They let people into the halls and distribute papers, and people fill out the form in [00:28:40] 10 minutes. This chaos is not normal. We've been here since [00:28:43] 7 o'clock and haven't submitted anything. [00:28:47] around for nothing. As a baccalaureate student, I am shocked by my [00:28:51] physics mark, it should be 370, but they put it as 318. [00:28:55] In science, I got 232, and I actually got [00:28:58] 280. A huge difference in marks. I mean, if I don't submit tomorrow... [00:29:07] Residents of Atareb city in the western Aleppo countryside [00:29:11] complain about the worsening environmental pollution caused by the random [00:29:14] waste dump in the Hill area, which has become [00:29:18] a source of foul odors and rising smoke due to continuous [00:29:22] burning, with demands to remove the dump and move it away from residential [00:29:25] areas. On the outskirts of Atareb city in the western [00:29:29] Aleppo countryside, the hill area has become a pollution [00:29:33] hotspot threatening the lives of residents after the random [00:29:36] waste dump became a daily source of concern [00:29:40] for residents due to foul odors [00:29:43] and rising smoke resulting [00:29:45] from continuous burning. It affects us [00:29:49] a lot, by God, regarding the smoke, especially for the elderly, causing them shortness [00:29:52] of breath, and regarding the diseases it causes, [00:29:56] some chronic diseases. One person per year. We take our children to [00:29:59] hospitals. [00:30:02] And as for the road in winter, by God, it almost closes completely, only one [00:30:05] car can pass. We appeal to the concerned authorities [00:30:09] to solve this problem. This environmental [00:30:12] reality has directly affected the lives [00:30:15] of residents, with a dense spread of flies and insects [00:30:18] that have invaded homes, to the point where [00:30:21] opening windows has become almost impossible. We have [00:30:25] a waste dump next to us, and we are suffering from [00:30:27] the problem of infectious diseases, which are [00:30:30] leishmaniasis and oriental sore. [00:30:33] This is harmful, and we even have parking in the wilderness, but we can't open [00:30:37] the windows because of the constant smoke, smoke, [00:30:41] and we also have these lands to the [00:30:44] east of it, which are suffering great damage. Plastic bags are always [00:30:48] full. The danger is not limited to environmental [00:30:51] pollution, but extends to the health [00:30:54] aspect, as residents warn of the spread [00:30:58] of leishmaniasis as a result.
