The residents of Atarib city [00:02:35] and actual projects in the western Aleppo countryside complain about the worsening [00:02:38] environmental pollution resulting from the random [00:02:41] waste dump in the Al-Telal area, which has become [00:02:44] and this dump in Al-Hamdaniyah a source of foul odors and rising [00:02:47] smoke due to continuous burning operations, amidst [00:02:51] demands to remove the dump and move it away [00:02:54] from residential areas. On the outskirts of Atarib city in the western [00:02:57] Aleppo countryside, the Al-Telal [00:03:00] area has turned into a pollution hotspot that threatens the lives [00:03:04] of residents after the random [00:03:05] the central banks of waste dump became a daily source of concern [00:03:08] for residents due to the foul odors and rising [00:03:12] smoke resulting from continuous [00:03:15] burning operations. It affects us a lot, by God, the smoke is causing [00:03:18] shortness of breath for the elderly, and it's causing [00:03:22] Leishmaniasis and skin diseases. We're taking our children to the hospital, [00:03:27] through this and as for the road, [00:03:30] by God, it's almost completely closed. Only one car can pass. We have a waste dump next to us, [00:03:55] and we suffer from the problem of diseases it causes, such as [00:03:59] Leishmaniasis, skin diseases, and so on. Plastic bags are always full of them, and [00:04:18] the danger is not limited to environmental pollution [00:04:21] alone, but extends to the health aspect, [00:04:24] as residents warn of the spread of Leishmaniasis [00:04:27] due to the proliferation of insects around the dump, which increases [00:04:31] concerns about the safety of residents, [00:04:33] especially children. [00:04:37] which will end any destabilization From Aleppo, our Syria TV correspondent Ibrahim [00:04:40] Al-Khatib joins us. Welcome, Ibrahim. Ibrahim, tell us more about [00:04:43] this dump and its proximity to civilian [00:04:46] would accelerate transport [00:04:47] problem relates to the method of dealing with homes. Good evening, Catherine. This dump [00:04:51] is actually old. We are talking about the dump [00:04:54] near Atarib city, or which is located at the entrance of Atarib city in the western [00:04:57] Aleppo countryside. This dump is old, dating back to about 30 years ago. With [00:05:01] urban expansion, homes started to approach it, [00:05:04] and it began to expand itself significantly, [00:05:08] perhaps even reaching the main street in the city. [00:05:12] It is a very huge dump. The process of waste disposal is not limited [00:05:16] to Atarib only, but there are also [00:05:19] a group of surrounding villages that actually send their municipalities [00:05:23] to it, and they also place their waste in [00:05:27] this area. The process of disposing of the waste [00:05:30] in this dump is done through primitive traditional methods, either [00:05:34] burning or landfilling, [00:05:37] and digging and expanding primarily. These are the available methods [00:05:41] for disposal. [00:05:44] recent times, after the expansion of urban areas to nearby [00:05:48] areas, and also the increase in population movement [00:05:51] around the site, and also the actual expansion of this dump [00:05:55] to actually cover a huge area, we will talk about approximately 30 years. [00:05:58] We are talking about villages, towns, and Atarib city primarily, which [00:06:02] actually takes this place as a last opportunity to dispose of the waste [00:06:05] in the area. Burning operations began, [00:06:08] and even the smells really bothered the residents [00:06:12] in the area, who are demanding practical solutions, some of which [00:06:16] involve moving this dump to another area, and also [00:06:19] the existence of modern methods, similar to what is currently happening in many [00:06:23] countries, which is to dispose of waste not only through burning and [00:06:27] burial operations and transport [00:06:30] and expansion that occurs every now and then, and disposing of waste by moving [00:06:34] it from one place to another, but actually by utilizing these [00:06:37] wastes in a specific way that relieves the residents [00:06:42] that are not limited to smells only, nor to the smoke [00:06:46] that rises periodically from the site through random burning [00:06:50] operations, and even in [00:06:53] the dump itself. But there is also a problem related to the spread of diseases [00:06:57] and also dangers to the residents in the place [00:07:00] directly. Dangers of leishmaniasis and diseases [00:07:04] and pollution that this huge dump [00:07:08] actually causes. Ibrahim, if we take a look at Aleppo [00:07:11] in general, how does the waste situation look in Aleppo [00:07:14] Governorate? The situation in Aleppo city has improved somewhat [00:07:18] regarding waste dumps. There was a scene [00:07:22] that we noticed in the center of Aleppo city. Imagine that when we walk in the western [00:07:26] neighborhoods of the city, which are described as the upscale [00:07:29] and modern neighborhoods in the city and well-organized, [00:07:34] area primarily, on the highway leading [00:07:39] that there was a very huge dump in the city. With [00:07:43] launched by a group of residents here, or the residents of Aleppo city, who demanded [00:07:46] an improvement in the cleanliness situation, the city council started an emergency [00:07:50] plan. This plan primarily aimed at removing a group [00:07:53] of dumps in the city, [00:07:57] was moved towards very distant [00:08:00] areas. There are still, actually, on the level of Al-Ramouseh, on the level of the airport [00:08:03] road primarily, on the level of some areas located in eastern Aleppo, on [00:08:07] the level of Al-Maysar, Al- Sukkari, many areas, [00:08:10] actually, in the east, there are still [00:08:13] random dumps that are still present, and the Aleppo city council says that it is actually [00:08:17] considering practical plans to move all [00:08:20] the dumps in the city and organize them [00:08:23] outside of it primarily. This matter relates today to an emergency plan [00:08:27] that primarily aims to improve the cleanliness situation. If we talked about the cleanliness situation [00:08:31] three months ago in Aleppo city, it was a tragic situation related primarily [00:08:34] to the presence of garbage and waste in all streets. After [00:08:38] activating the emergency plan, there was a noticeable improvement on the level of streets. [00:08:42] and alleys, civilian homes, commercial shops, and residential [00:08:46] areas, primarily, by activating additional working hours [00:08:50] for workers, by activating additional workers, by contracting with a group of [00:08:53] private cars that helped the city council during the past period in moving [00:08:57] this waste in the city to outside of it, and also through a plan that [00:09:01] involved moving three or four huge waste dumps that were located inside [00:09:05] Aleppo city to outside of it. But there are also many waste dumps that [00:09:08] are still present within the city or even on the bypass [00:09:14] tour the area. We were talking today about Sheikh Saeed and Al-Ramouseh and some [00:09:18] areas whose situation is similar to the situation of Atarib city. When we walk on the bypass, [00:09:21] you actually see random burning operations and plumes of smoke that were [00:09:25] reaching the center of Aleppo city and actually making anyone who enters [00:09:28] the city wonder about these foul smells and where [00:09:32] they come from, and whether the waste [00:09:35] was burning in the middle of the city. All of this scene resulted from the burning operations that were [00:09:38] taking place in Sheikh Saeed neighborhood and Al-Ramouseh [00:09:42] and this bypass primarily. But these operations, after [00:09:45] the follow-up of the Aleppo governor, stopped, and work is slowly, [00:09:49] though slowly, underway to move these dumps to distant areas in the southern Aleppo [00:09:52] countryside primarily, and to find ways [00:09:56] to deal with them. Until now, the main [00:09:59] waste, that there is no way to utilize it primarily, and all that [00:10:03] is happening is the process of disposing of it. If there were factories [00:10:07] to utilize this waste, as the residents here demand, as [00:10:10] the Aleppo city council also spoke about. In the future, [00:10:14] there will actually be a benefit primarily from this waste, from metals, [00:10:18] nylon bags, and other things that result from it, and also [00:10:21] waste and dumps must be disposed of in a way [00:10:24] that makes these disposal operations not [00:10:28] harmful to residents. Thank you very much, Ibrahim Al-Khatib. [00:10:31] You were with us from Aleppo. [00:10:34] The craft of hand-woven rugs and carpets in [00:10:37] Daraa Governorate faces the risk of extinction, after it was one of the most prominent [00:10:41] heritage crafts that the Hauran region [00:10:45] was famous for, amidst a decline in the number of workers [00:10:48] in it and rising production costs, amidst [00:10:51] craftsmen to preserve this heritage [00:10:55] and pass it on to new [00:10:56] generations. [00:10:59] The weaving of hand-woven rugs and carpets is considered [00:11:02] one of the oldest crafts that Daraa Governorate was [00:11:06] famous for, as it used to have [00:11:09] 14 centers and textile factories. [00:11:12] However, this profession declined during the past years [00:11:16] due to the war and rising production [00:11:19] costs, and the competition from industrial products, [00:11:22] in addition to the reluctance of young generations to learn [00:11:25] it. I first learned to knit with my father. We stayed with him. [00:11:29] And of course, we stopped for a while [00:11:32] because of travel. Then [00:11:35] weaving was in demand here. There were two, three, four families [00:11:39] who used to weave with us. But they passed away, may God have mercy on them, [00:11:42] and it died out. The raw materials are also gone. There is no more [00:11:46] wool and yarn. [00:11:49] Women no longer spin. [00:11:53] this reality, attempts to preserve this craft [00:11:56] continue, while a new generation is working to re-introduce [00:12:00] hand-woven rugs and textiles in a way that [00:12:04] keeps pace with modern tastes, without [00:12:06] compromising their authenticity. We went through many challenges, [00:12:10] whether financial, administrative, or regarding acceptance from society. But [00:12:14] today, thank God, we are happy with the presence of Southern [00:12:17] rugs on social media, and it is present [00:12:21] on the ground. We are trying to develop these products so that [00:12:25] we can create products that young people and youth adopt, with the aim that this [00:12:28] identity will be passed from generation to generation and preserved. The workers [00:12:32] in this profession believe that reviving the hand-woven [00:12:38] is not limited to preserving a heritage [00:12:42] legacy, but requires support and marketing [00:12:45] to ensure its continuity and encourage more [00:12:48] young people to learn it, so that [00:12:52] it regains its status that Hauran was known for [00:12:55] for a long time. [00:12:59] The General Authority for Ports announced [00:13:02] that Latakia Port received [00:13:05] 394 ships and handled more than two million [00:13:08] tons of goods since the beginning of the current year. [00:13:11] The Authority explained that the ships were distributed between [00:13:15] vessels loaded with general cargo and others for containers, [00:13:19] in addition to maintenance and passenger ships, while the total [00:13:22] handled containers amounted to approximately [00:13:28] containers. The Authority added that the current performance is due to the simplification of customs [00:13:32] procedures [00:13:34] and the facilitation of import [00:13:36] and export operations. [00:13:43] For details, our correspondent from Latakia, Munir [00:13:46] Al-Hajji, joins us. Welcome, Munir. Munir, tell us more about [00:13:50] the types of goods that come [00:13:52] port. [00:13:56] Welcome, Catherine. Most of the goods that come [00:14:00] through Latakia port are commercial goods and in very [00:14:06] in the picture behind me, is witnessing a very large [00:14:11] Since the beginning of this year until now, according to what the General [00:14:15] Authority for Ports [00:14:18] and Customs announced, the movement is very [00:14:22] active, with about 384 [00:14:27] port. And they unloaded [00:14:31] their cargo, which is mostly loaded with goods [00:14:34] and amounts to about 2,860,000 [00:14:37] tons, which is a very large number compared [00:14:41] to previous years, in addition to unloading about [00:14:43] 171,000 containers through handling operations. [00:14:47] This is due to, of course, Catherine, [00:14:51] the facilities that the port administration provides. [00:14:55] These facilities include customs facilities [00:14:59] specifically, and also other [00:15:02] facilities for transporting goods and transit, [00:15:05] and also the use of new and modern mechanisms that [00:15:11] and unloading operations. Consequently, this port witnessed [00:15:14] a remarkable development in terms [00:15:17] of transport, export, and import of goods, [00:15:20] and it reached, at several [00:15:24] times during [00:15:27] this year, a state of full occupancy. If we turn the camera to monitor the number or size of containers, the size of containers is very [00:15:31] large in this port, [00:15:34] and also the [00:15:37] mechanisms that can accelerate [00:15:40] the process of transporting containers, [00:15:43] which are handling operations. The General [00:15:46] Authority, of course, spoke through its official platform [00:15:50] about these figures and said that the number of vessels that [00:15:53] the port received since the beginning of the year [00:15:55] was 394 vessels, [00:15:59] distributed between 180 [00:16:02] vessels loaded with general cargo and 186 vessels or [00:16:05] containers, and also 23 vessels designated [00:16:09] for maintenance work, in addition to three [00:16:11] vessels for passenger transport, among them [00:16:15] one of the modern and huge vessels that docked for several days [00:16:19] off this coast. In the same context, [00:16:22] about one day ago, Catherine, [00:16:25] the General Authority also published [00:16:29] in its statement the active movement that [00:16:32] Tartous port is witnessing, [00:16:35] which also witnessed a very [00:16:39] large turnout in terms of [00:16:42] transporting and exporting goods, [00:16:44] and in its statement, it talked about receiving [00:16:48] 551 vessels, including [00:16:52] 472 vessels loaded with goods, as most of the vessels [00:16:56] that also docked in Tartous port were loaded with goods, and there were [00:16:59] 33 container [00:17:02] vessels and also 46 maintenance [00:17:05] vessels. This [00:17:08] remarkable development was witnessed, of course, [00:17:11] by Syrian ports, including Latakia port here [00:17:14] and also Tartous port, [00:17:17] which is due primarily to customs [00:17:20] facilities and customs clearance, and also facilities related [00:17:24] to transport and transit exports [00:17:27] within Syrian ports. Thank you very much, [00:17:32] Latakia. [00:17:35] Occupation forces continued [00:17:37] to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip through [00:17:41] shelling and gunfire in various parts of the eastern [00:17:44] and southern Strip. Palestinian [00:17:47] local sources reported that a citizen was injured [00:17:50] by occupation bullets in Al-Mawasi, [00:17:53] Khan Younis city. Meanwhile, its vehicles [00:17:56] opened fire towards the tents of displaced people south [00:17:59] of Al-Mawasi and Al-Mawasi, Rafah, and north [00:18:03] of Al-Bureij camp. [00:18:08] 24 Palestinian workers arrived [00:18:11] in the Gaza Strip through the Karem Abu Salem crossing [00:18:15] after the occupation authorities released them, while some [00:18:18] of them recounted details of what they described [00:18:21] as the harsh treatment they were subjected [00:19:21] The Palestinian Prisoners' Club reported [00:19:23] that Israeli occupation forces carried out a wide-ranging [00:19:27] arrest and detention campaign in Qalandia refugee camp, north [00:19:30] of occupied Jerusalem, affecting more than 60 [00:19:33] Palestinians. [00:20:35] Viewers, let's move now to Ankara, with this [00:20:38] press conference held by the Syrian Foreign Minister and his Turkish [00:20:41] counterpart. The armed [00:20:44] elements [00:20:50] are armed, and this is necessary for the stability of Syria [00:20:53] and the region. [00:20:55] We must work to develop economic relations between Turkey [00:20:59] and Syria. We are working to increase the volume of trade between the two [00:21:03] countries, and we are also working to [00:21:05] facilitate border and customs, [00:21:09] and also to increase the number of crossings. [00:21:12] We are also working to launch banking work, [00:21:14] and also to support the infrastructure [00:21:18] for transportation. These [00:21:23] matters are also a priority regarding private [00:21:26] sector work and government [00:21:29] institutions. We are working to rebuild [00:21:32] them. We are [00:21:35] to support them in local and regional projects. [00:21:39] We are working together. I want to give an example of this. [00:21:43] Turkey, Syria, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. We started transportation [00:21:47] between these countries. [00:22:07] We see it through many concrete projects. There is [00:22:10] a project to build or open a Turkish [00:22:14] school in Syria, and this makes [00:22:17] us happy. [00:22:20] We are working to establish a joint university between Turkey and Syria, and also [00:22:24] in the field of health work, we are one of the most involved in [00:22:27] these efforts that we are making in health work. There are many [00:22:31] hospitals, and we are also working to support [00:22:33] the health infrastructure in Syria. Therefore, [00:22:37] field, in June, the Turkish [00:22:41] Health Minister visited Syria and signed a health [00:22:45] cooperation agreement. Also, regarding the process of integrating Syria [00:22:48] into the international financial system, we are working to support the Central Bank [00:22:52] in Syria, and also the Central [00:22:56] Bank of Turkey. There is also an agreement [00:23:00] future. Relations between Turkey and Syria [00:23:04] we are working to raise them to [00:23:07] high levels through new [00:23:09] projects. [00:23:11] Today, in the meeting, we also discussed regional issues. [00:23:14] Of course, [00:23:17] the issue of negotiations between America [00:23:21] and Iran. We are happy with the return to negotiations. [00:23:24] A ceasefire must be immediately implemented, [00:23:28] and the Strait of Hormuz must be opened for transportation. [00:23:31] We will continue to support this phase. [00:23:34] support the negotiations. Therefore, [00:23:37] I want to emphasize an important point here, that Syria [00:23:41] throughout the war [00:23:43] is a country that contributes to peace in the region. [00:23:47] I want to emphasize this point. [00:23:57] it affects the region, and it is a responsibility for all of us. On the other hand, Syria is working [00:24:01] to threaten the unity of Syrian territories through its continuous attacks [00:24:05] and leads to threatening the security of the region. [00:24:09] It is one of the biggest threats. The international community, regarding [00:24:12] the mentality of occupied Israel, the international community [00:24:16] must stand against this mentality. [00:24:20] The ceasefire agreement and separation [00:24:23] must be respected, and the unity of Syrian territories must [00:24:29] pressured in this regard. [00:24:34] Regarding the situation in Palestine and Lebanon, we also followed the issue [00:24:38] completely. We clarified that [00:24:42] Lebanon is a neighbor of Syria, so the situation there [00:24:45] is important to us as well. [00:24:48] The issue of the second step in the peace [00:24:52] plan was agreed upon. Mr. Trump announced [00:24:57] to threaten, and this indicates that Netanyahu does not want [00:25:01] peace, that the Israeli government [00:25:04] is working to sabotage and undermine peace [00:25:07] processes and is working to annex [00:25:11] Gaza. [00:25:13] This is clear that the Israeli government wants Gaza to be [00:25:17] without Palestinians. So, [00:25:20] Netanyahu and his government will not succeed with [00:25:23] this plan. Gaza will remain for Palestinians, [00:25:26] and also we will rebuild [00:25:30] Gaza. [00:25:34] The brave Palestinians who stand against [00:25:37] Israel must receive international [00:25:40] support. [00:25:44] In order to support the ceasefire and move to the second phase of the peace [00:25:47] plan and resume peace. There is no [00:25:51] other option but these points. On the other [00:25:54] hand, in the West Bank and Jerusalem, Netanyahu's [00:25:58] government continues its terrorist [00:25:59] acts. [00:26:02] There was an important meeting in Amman, and [00:26:06] almost 20 countries from the Islamic world participated in this [00:26:09] meeting, and this [00:26:13] represented a collective effort of these countries towards Israel. [00:26:17] Also, [00:26:19] Jerusalem, there are Israeli [00:26:23] attempts to violate [00:26:27] their sanctity. Therefore, we support Jordan in [00:26:30] its position in Palestine as well. [00:26:36] the region, as Israeli expansionist [00:26:40] policies in Lebanon led to the killing [00:26:43] of many citizens, [00:26:46] citizens were forced to leave their homes. [00:26:49] Ensuring stability and security in Lebanon is very [00:26:53] important in this context, as the relationship [00:26:56] between Lebanon and Syria, and its return [00:26:59] to normal, and increasing cooperation between them [00:27:11] Syria is a country that contributes [00:27:13] to finding solutions and not creating [00:27:17] problems. Thank God, Syria should be [00:27:20] present at all tables for finding solutions, [00:27:23] and this is something we are proud of. In the coming phase, relations between the two countries [00:27:27] and also security in the region and the world, we will [00:27:31] work constantly to achieve all these [00:27:33] goals. With this, once again, [00:27:36] I express my thanks and welcome to my counterpart. [00:28:32] which will transform our political understandings into clear work plans [00:28:37] on the ground, and ensure the preservation of our gains away from regional [00:28:41] fluctuations, [00:28:44] to culminate in the announcement of the Higher Coordinating Council between the two [00:28:47] countries, which will address all common issues in various [00:28:50] fields. And based on this political [00:28:54] will, we placed our common commercial and economic [00:28:57] files at the top of our priorities, [00:29:00] so we discussed reactivating economic and commercial [00:29:03] agreements, alongside the recent and important step between [00:29:08] the two countries, which established a solid foundation for economic [00:29:12] and financial movement between the two [00:29:15] countries. Both Damascus and Ankara realize that field [00:29:19] stability and continuous success in combating terrorism [00:29:23] are the cornerstone of this partnership, [00:29:26] and this is embodied in Damascus's decision to extend the state's authority [00:29:30] as a tangible reality by effectively [00:29:32] ending any presence of weapons outside the legal framework, [00:29:36] which was achieved through dialogue and a peaceful [00:29:39] agreement that unified institutions to be the greatest investment [00:29:43] in neighborhood security. A unified Syria free [00:29:46] of terrorism and militias forms the strongest wall [00:29:51] free of terrorism and militias forms the strongest wall to protect [00:29:54] shared borders. Here, we coordinate [00:29:57] our steps with our friends in Ankara to ensure the success [00:30:01] of this path, in response to [00:30:03] our common national [00:30:06] Syrian achievement in confining weapons to state institutions [00:30:09] provides a realistic model that heralds [00:30:13] a new phase in our regional neighborhood. [00:30:16] The region is clearly moving towards establishing a single basis [00:30:20] for stability, whose core is [00:30:23] the termination of any armed formations outside the legitimate [00:30:26] framework. Here, we agreed to support the efforts [00:30:29] and steps led by our brothers in Iraq [00:30:33] and Lebanon to strengthen the sovereignty of their states and confine [00:30:36] weapons to their national institutions, [00:30:40] or instability in the region. The completion of these paths [00:30:43] in the sister capitals ensures their sustainable internal [00:30:46] stability and, along with the Syrian achievement, forms [00:30:49] an integrated regional safety net that fortifies our [00:30:53] region and drives it towards development and prosperity. [00:30:56] And within this comprehensive vision for security, our efforts [00:30:59] to consolidate calm are accompanied [00:31:03] by firm diplomatic action to stop.
