[00:00:44] foundation of our community here. There are many reasons for
[00:00:48] couples to take part, and sometimes everything lines up so perfectly
[00:00:52] that it becomes an absolute no-brainer. So we
[00:00:56] of came to Aruba a couple of years ago, um, our 20th anniversary is next.
[00:01:00] last year and I've been looking for places to renew my vow for to renew our vows.
[00:01:04] We found when we came here a couple years ago we absolutely fell in love with the island
[00:01:08] and then we saw the spow renewal ceremony and today actually havi
[00:01:11] our wedding anniversary so our 19-year anniversary happy anniversary thank you

[00:01:15] it just it all worked out perfectly. For any couple who wants a stress-free

[00:01:30] want to do something special for our anniversaries, but it's just nice to have like a place to go
[00:01:34] away and just have like a little celebration, like we've already done the big
[00:01:37] wedding and we just want to do some, we just want to do something fun
[00:01:41] and we're laid back. this beautiful day with aruba as the
[00:01:45] backdrop is a great reminder that the island is not only perfect for
[00:01:49] renewing your vows, but for all kinds of romantic holidays and
[00:01:52] celebrations. so that's why one

[00:01:58] positions us at. has a destination for romance uh,

[00:02:55] you know i'm grateful that i can be one to be able to do this for
[00:02:59] the... To all the couples who renewed their vows

[00:04:32] Okay, when I first approached the scots for an interview, I thought they were just your
[00:04:36] average tourist couple taking part in Aruba I do, but believe it
[00:04:40] or not, Kenneth has ties that run deep within the island's tourism
[00:04:43] development, but you know the thing is is that this is
[00:04:47] home to me, I grew up here, left here
[00:04:51] 62 years ago, and now we're
[00:04:55] back, now of course during our marriage I told her all kinds
[00:04:59] of things that... happened in Aruba, so she said,
[00:05:03] you're going to take me there and show me. how many years did you
[00:05:07] live here for? uh, well, was in my
[00:05:10] 20s, yeah. That's amazing, so you used
[00:05:14] to be resident local here, and oh yeah, oh yeah, my dad was in
[00:05:17] politics over here, as matter of fact, Geo Scott, he he
[00:05:21] built basiruti when he was still here,
[00:05:25] and was one the companies that built the Aruba
[00:05:29] Caribbean hotel, and way in the beginning, when it was the only
[00:05:33] hotel, and when the police organization, the
[00:05:36] pavo was on the other side, and
[00:05:39] it's it is awesome. to be
[00:05:42] back. According to Ken, his father, Gerald Scott
[00:05:46] has a helping hand in Basiruti, the first tourist hotel on
[00:05:50] Palm beach, when it opened in 1957. It had
[00:05:54] just 15 rooms. Ken's father was later involved in developing
[00:05:58] the Aruba Caribbean hotel, which opened in 1959 as the
[00:06:01] island's first luxury resort, and still stands today
[00:06:05] as the Hilton Aruba. Now Ken is back to renew
[00:06:09] his vows, a truly full circle moment. "you know,
[00:06:13] it fits, it kind of fits into the the the
[00:06:17] way my life has been. I left here, became, I
[00:06:21] became pilot in the US Army for 12 years and and
[00:06:25] after that I was vice president of a multi-billion dollar
[00:06:28] company, and then I met
[00:06:31] her. You forgot to throw in that you served in
[00:06:35] Vietnam? Yeah, yeah, I was in Vietnam. Thank you for your
[00:06:39] services, left my air there,
[00:06:41] oh no, Rosemary thinks Aruba's vow renewal is
[00:06:45] wonderful idea. I think it's a wonderful
[00:06:48] idea. Uh, people are usually
[00:06:52] in the romantic mode when they come here and I
[00:06:56] think it's just a culmination. Aside from the
[00:07:00] romance, it seems as though plenty of fun anecdotes come
[00:07:03] out of this vow renewal ceremony. Well, you know, it was

[00:08:20] family. The family of three lives in Aruba and they may be more grateful
[00:08:24] than anyone else to be here at Aruba I do
[00:08:27] 2026, renewing their vows, because just two
[00:08:31] days before the ceremony, they were in Medy in Colombia for
[00:08:34] vacation, when a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the
[00:08:38] country's western region. Before we get into that, let's hear
[00:08:42] a bit their story, we've been together since
[00:08:45] 2008, we married in
[00:08:48] 2010, we renewed our first
[00:08:51] fs in 2023 and now we're back here
[00:08:55] today, that's right, this isn't the family's first v renewal with aruba
[00:08:59] Torsm authorities, aruba Ido, they took part just three years
[00:09:03] ago when it was hosted on Eagle Beach, their daughter was much
[00:09:07] younger then and she had told her parents she was sad she missed their
[00:09:10] wedding, this was a one wonderful way to include her, we
[00:09:14] came out of very difficult year, we've lost some
[00:09:18] uh their loved ones close to our our heart, and then we
[00:09:22] decided that would be the year that we wanted to celebrate life and our love
[00:09:25] again, and also my daughter said to me, yeah, didn't, I wasn't there
[00:09:29] the first time, I said, that's correct, you weren't even born, so we did
[00:09:33] it especially for her so she could witness, her parents
[00:09:37] marry again, according to nini, they love being able to
[00:09:41] celebrate their love and commitment to... another right here at
[00:09:44] home,
[00:09:48] so this is my daughter, ojenai and my husband
[00:09:52] rol, and we love uh aruba I do so much
[00:09:56] because it's it's giving you opportunity to celebrate love again,
[00:10:00] and I think it's so awesome that you can do it here in this
[00:10:04] beautiful location at our own home here on the
[00:10:08] island, few
[00:10:11] minutes after the... interview, ninny came to find me a ruba I
[00:10:15] do to tell me why they are more grateful than ever to be
[00:10:19] standing here today renewing their vows. two days ago we were in
[00:10:23] Colombia Meding and we were... were witnessing the earthquake
[00:10:26] because we were there a family holiday and we were in the hotel on the
[00:10:30] 20th floor when the earthquake happened. On August 10th,
[00:10:34] 2026, devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake caused
[00:10:38] significant damage across Western Columbia with more than
[00:10:42] 100 people killed and widespread destruction. Ninnie and
[00:10:46] her family were in Metaying enjoying summer vacation where the earthquake
[00:10:50] was felt strongly. After that experience, celebrating
[00:10:53] life took a a whole new meaning for them,
[00:10:57] so I'm so happy that we're here today alive,
[00:11:01] celebrating love and second chances. It was a frightening experience for the
[00:11:05] family of three, unlike anything they had ever gone through
[00:11:09] before, but when the earthquake happened, it was just like we went
[00:11:12] into survival mode, you just you don't think, you just want to get out
[00:11:16] and stay alive, so when I resaw my daughter again
[00:11:20] outside the hotel, I was just so overwhelmed with
[00:11:24] happiness. just hawked her endlessly, ninny says that as
[00:11:27] scary as the situation on their colombian vacation was, it
[00:11:31] brought new light to life in general and a deeper
[00:11:35] appreciation for everything that life has to offer, and one of
[00:11:39] those things being not to take friends and family for
[00:11:42] granted, because you never know what tomorrow will
[00:11:45] bring, so I think it's very important to celebrate every day,
[00:11:49] every single moment and just be very um
[00:11:53] aware of your friends and and the love that you share and that you are able
[00:11:57] even see new day. Ninte and her husband already renewed their
[00:12:01] vows once with Arubai do in 2023 and they had
[00:12:04] registered for Aruba Iido 2026. well before they
[00:12:08] experienced the earthquake in Colombia first hand. They were
[00:12:12] already prepared to commit to one another, but facing
[00:12:16] that dangerous situation together only deep in their bond and their
[00:12:20] devotion. All right, for the

[00:12:30] me and I think it makes it even extra special today that I
[00:12:34] can just renew my vows and just plead to him that
