[00:39:37] place in the hearts of the nation has
[00:39:41] not changed. Menderes and his friends were
[00:39:44] sent to Yassıada immediately after May 27.
[00:39:48] They lived in captivity for 16 months.
[00:39:50] They were subjected to
[00:39:53] psychological violence and torture. At the end of the
[00:40:05] 11-month trial process, 14 people were sentenced to death.
[00:40:08] The Istanbul-Ankara incidents recorded under number
[00:40:12] 9604. For the crime of violating the
[00:40:15] constitution, a death sentence was unanimously given
[00:40:18] under Article 146/1 of the Turkish Penal Code.

[00:41:34] he was going to the hospital. The sentence
[00:41:38] was carried out at noon. The bodies of Prime
[00:41:41] Minister Adnan Menderes and ministers Fatin
[00:41:45] Rüşdü Zorlu and Hasan Polatkan were not
[00:41:48] handed over to their families. The struggle
[00:41:51] of the families
[00:41:54] over the bodies lasted exactly 29 years.
[00:41:58] Although the issue came up many times, their
[00:42:01] requests for transfer were always rejected. The issue
[00:42:04] was resolved with the law on the
[00:42:08] restoration of honor,
[00:42:10] which came into force in 1990.
[00:42:14] A monumental tomb was built in Istanbul for
[00:42:17] the three martyrs of democracy. The bodies of the
[00:42:21] martyrs of democracy were met at Sarayburnu
[00:42:23] by tens of thousands
[00:42:32] of people from all over Turkey 29 years
[00:42:36] later. Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, Fatin Rüştü
[00:42:40] Zorlu, and Hasan Polatkan were buried with a
[00:42:44] state ceremony.
