[00:00:03] of [00:00:10] Iranian media reports that the Iran Oman Hormus [00:00:14] framework is likely to impose fines for violations [00:00:18] in of the proposed transit [00:00:19] restrictions. Hello and welcome to [00:00:23] TRT World. We're live from London. I'm Maria Ramos [00:00:26] of also ahead on this program. [00:00:32] In Yemen, at least 35 government troops are reported to have been killed [00:00:36] in hoothy attacks on military [00:00:38] camps [00:00:43] and Israeli forces launch wave of air strikes on southern Lebanon [00:00:46] despite a fresh round of peace talks in [00:00:50] of Rome, and Ukraine hits two oil [00:00:54] refineries in multiple strikes inside Russia. [00:00:57] Zelensky says the aim is limiting. Moscow's oil revenues [00:01:01] to finance the [00:01:02] war. [00:01:18] Well, Iran says that deal with oman to reopen the [00:01:21] of straight of hormos is now in its final stages with local [00:01:25] media reporting that parliament is reviewing a draft bill. [00:01:29] At MP has told the Phas news agency that the [00:01:33] proposed legislation would bar US and Israeli [00:01:37] ships from passing through the key waterway. [00:01:41] After confirming an agreement with neighboring Oman, Iranian [00:01:44] officials have said that, despite the deal, the resumption [00:01:48] of unrestricted shipping remains contingent on the [00:01:52] US, lifting its naval blockade of Iranian [00:01:56] ports. Let's bring in TRT was. [00:02:00] Hatamy who's in the Iranian capital Forest, good to see you, [00:02:04] how close are we to - deal on hormores and what are we [00:02:07] learning? [00:02:14] Well, Maria, it was about 24 hours ago, or maybe a bit less, [00:02:18] that Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson said that Iran and Oman are [00:02:22] on the verge of an agreement about the coordinates of [00:02:26] a shipping route in the straight of still we are waiting for. [00:02:30] that promised joint announcement by Iran and [00:02:34] Oman about an agreement a shipping route in [00:02:38] the straight of hormosben, this hasn't happened [00:02:41] after about 24 hours, but the [00:02:45] of details that we are getting is that there would be a an [00:02:49] outbound lane and inbound lane, the inbound lane is located [00:02:53] in the north [00:02:54] of the straight of armus closer to raining territorial waters, [00:02:58] that root is going to be totally controlled by Iran, the [00:03:02] southern route, which is close to Omani [00:03:06] territorial waters, that would be the outbound route, and [00:03:09] part of it, or half of it would be controlled by Iran, so [00:03:13] this deal would basically give [00:03:16] of Iran control and authority [00:03:18] of over this strategic waterway, and these two lanes will be [00:03:22] temporary, according to Iran's deputy foreign minister, they will be [00:03:26] valid for about two to four months and in the meantime, [00:03:30] 'demining operations will take place in the straight of formus, and [00:03:33] after that two or four month period, then a new [00:03:37] route, in the next phase [00:03:40] of the agreement, new route will be announced that would be in the [00:03:43] middle, in the [00:03:45] of center [00:03:45] of the straight of armus, so-called median lane, [00:03:49] and that route would be permanent, we are still [00:03:53] of of waiting for more details, we understand that Tehran and Mascat still [00:03:57] continue their discussions, their talks and the'. [00:04:00] consultations um and we're waiting to see [00:04:03] whether that much awaited deal is going to take [00:04:07] place anytime soon. absolutely, all eyes on that [00:04:10] announcement. reza, thank you so much, reza hatami live there from [00:04:14] Tehran. well, for his part, US [00:04:18] vice president J. Vans has called Iranian officials [00:04:21] extraordinarily difficult, and that it will take time [00:04:25] to reach a consensus. certainly understand the American [00:04:29] people and maybe looking at this and they say, well, it seems like we're making progress and [00:04:33] then it seems like we're not. well, the reality Laura is that number one, the Iranians are [00:04:37] a extraordinarily difficult people. number two, they have a [00:04:40] fractured system, so there are people within their system who want [00:04:44] of the war to be over, there are also people within their system who are crazy radicals who [00:04:48] want the war to continue. well, north [00:04:52] america correspondent john brain joins us live from Washington [00:04:55] of DC. John, what do JDV Vance's comments tell us about the deal [00:04:58] in uh that we're waiting to? about and also the interactions [00:05:02] between Iran and the US right [00:05:04] now, [00:05:09] well I think ultimately it tells us that the... went into [00:05:13] this conflict without a proper understanding the Iranian [00:05:17] mentality or the Iranian setta and they seem to have [00:05:21] learned little from the subsequent five months, don't they? [00:05:24] the fact that the Iranians weren't necessarily speaking with [00:05:28] one voice when they're negotiated with the U.S. uh, that's been a [00:05:32] major frustration for the administration, they think they've [00:05:35] got a deal, and then it turns out that the more hardline elements [00:05:39] in Tehran have vetoed it. in terms of... [00:05:42] this arrangement or apparent arrangement between Iran [00:05:46] and Oman, the US is still waiting to be [00:05:49] presented with the specific details of it, uh, they [00:05:53] remain ad, the US remains adoment that Iran [00:05:57] cannot come out of this war with control over the [00:06:00] straight of homoz, which from what Rezza has been [00:06:03] saying is what the iran, Iran thinks that it [00:06:07] will have uh influence and control over, so so I think [00:06:11] it's still a long way to... go before the Americans will [00:06:14] be prepared to lift their blockade and be accept [00:06:18] this agreement. Having said all that, there is a pretty much a [00:06:21] desperation within the Trump administration that this [00:06:25] conflict is brought to an end as swiftly as possible, so it [00:06:29] may be uh that the administration is prepared to overlook some [00:06:33] elements of any deal uh if they feel those elements can [00:06:37] be uh brushed under the carpet so to [00:06:40] speak. For now, thank you, John Braint live from [00:06:44] Washington DC. Well, Yemen's [00:06:48] hoofis have killed at least 35 government troops in missile and drone [00:06:51] attacks on military camps in Hadraunt and Marib. [00:06:55] The Houthies say that this attack is in response to an alleged military [00:06:59] builder backed by neighboring Saudi Arabia. [00:07:03] Now fighting between the Hufis and the Saudi Araline government has [00:07:07] escalated over the past month. This is the deadliest [00:07:10] fighting in Yemen since. [00:07:21] this latest operation [00:07:24] that have that has been revealed by the his military [00:07:27] spokesperson yah says that they have targeted this these [00:07:31] positions in in raik and also [00:07:35] in in areas in hadramote and marip he says that they have targeted [00:07:39] these areas as there are some [00:07:42] military built up there, the says that they have waged [00:07:46] the preemptive strikes, and they have he has also [00:07:50] warned the yemenis there not to join the military [00:07:53] camps in these areas, while the senior [00:07:57] official the Yemen government says that the [00:08:01] the group is under mounting pressure, that's that's [00:08:04] why and they have carried out these [00:08:07] operations as he mentioned or [00:08:11] described at his at his account at [00:08:15] x website, he also mentioned that the [00:08:19] there is all the only way is to end what he described as the [00:08:23] militaus co against the international recognized government, while [00:08:26] the the military spokes person the hutis, he [00:08:30] has made it clear that they will continue their uh what they have [00:08:33] already uh declared the uh the operations the sage for [00:08:37] sage they want to [00:08:39] to wais more pressure on Saudi Arabia we [00:08:41] are talking about nearly eight ships that have been uh targeted by [00:08:44] the uh the houties known as the ansar allah they have [00:08:48] also uh been able to uh to turn uh [00:08:52] back nearly 29 uh vessels so [00:08:56] we are talking about since the beginning the their blockade they have been [00:08:59] able to attack vessels near the Gulf of [00:09:03] Aiden and also uh off the coast the Saudi [00:09:07] uh Saudi seaport of [00:09:09] Yambo all the speaks. [00:09:12] person for Pakistan's foreign ministry has said that the Prime Minister Sheikh [00:09:16] Bash Sharif will begin an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday [00:09:20] accompanied by a high level delegation. [00:09:24] Though taking place against the backdrop of height and tensions in the [00:09:27] Gulf, the visit will carry immense [00:09:31] significance beyond the immediate crisis and [00:09:35] short term considerations. It will further strengthen bilateral [00:09:39] relations, deepen strategic cooperation. [00:09:44] Well three days of peace talks between the US, Israel and Lebanon [00:09:47] in Rome have just come to closed, discussions reportedly [00:09:51] focused on pilot zones in southern Lebanon, but the talks were [00:09:55] overshadowed by continued Israeli violence in Lebanon south, [00:09:58] which threatened to derail negotiations entirely. Prian [00:10:02] Canani reports from [00:10:03] Beirot. On the eve [00:10:07] the last day of talks in Rome, this was the scene in southern Lebanon, the town [00:10:11] of Burja Shim. was hit by massive Israeli strikes, injuring over [00:10:15] dozen Lebaneses. Thursday morning, news stands were peppered [00:10:19] with both headlines: talks in Rome meant to bring peace, and the [00:10:23] strikes on southern Lebanon bringing anything. [00:10:34] have no meaning, the negotiations that are happening are waste of [00:10:37] time, we are facing a zionist terrorist [00:10:41] enemy, what the Israelis are doing in the south is a policy of [00:10:44] destruction, others said strikes or no [00:10:48] strikes, they don't believe anything can come the [00:10:51] talks, [00:10:55] never committed to any agreement, every agreement that the Israelis do, they [00:10:58] don't honor. the three-day summit constituted the seventh round of Israeli [00:11:02] lebanese talks in the last few months, direct talks that are ordinarily [00:11:06] unheard of. well progress has been made in the form of security [00:11:10] framework that called for occupying Israeli troops to slowly be replaced by the [00:11:14] Lebanese army, the progress these pilot zones on the ground has [00:11:18] been slow, and some argue Lebanon is giving more than it's [00:11:21] getting. unfortunately, until now... gain [00:11:25] any uh good point regarding what's regarding the [00:11:28] regarding talks in in Rome or with the Israelies, all what we could [00:11:32] achieve was the [00:11:34] seasfire, it's not a full sease [00:11:38] fire, the Israelies are bombing every day in the south and [00:11:41] are invading more more regions, they are not retreating [00:11:45] from any the occupied regions and many agree the [00:11:49] uptaken strikes during the talks was no coincidence, the [00:11:53] elephant in the room is the issue. of Hezballah's weapons, both the Lebanese [00:11:57] and Israeli governments have said that they want the group disarmed, but [00:12:01] Hezballah [00:12:02] is not party to these talks and the Lebanese government has yet to put [00:12:06] forth any sort of substantitive plan, in part because Lebanese are [00:12:09] divided on the issue, but this standoff leads many to [00:12:13] believe that the talks in Rome will do little to affect their reality on [00:12:17] the ground. Prijon, TRT World in [00:12:20] Beirot. Well Israely [00:12:24] forces. are storming the calandia refugee camp in the occupied west bank [00:12:28] now for second day with 16 palestinians now [00:12:32] injured. 60 people have so far been arrested. Israel says its forces [00:12:36] are targeting in their words terrorist elements in the camp which is [00:12:40] home to more than 16,000 palestinian refugees. [00:12:43] local media reported the Israeli army distributing leaflet [00:12:47] saying a large scale raid was being carried out. [00:12:51] Ozenna Tahan is outside the camp in occupied East [00:12:55] Jerusalem and has the latest for [00:12:58] us, it's been [00:13:01] 40, more than 41 hours since Israel began its large [00:13:05] scale military assault on the qalandia refugee [00:13:09] camp, and now we're a bit further from the entrance to the camp than we were [00:13:13] previously reporting earlier in the day, because israely forces [00:13:17] prevented journalists from covering, they removed them from the [00:13:20] entire area and blockaded it off and they fired directly at [00:13:24] us. stun grenades uh, the the assault is still [00:13:28] ongoing with hundreds of soldiers as well as special forces, [00:13:32] police and paramilitary uh border [00:13:34] police uh operating inside the [00:13:38] camp, arresting Palestinians, mass raiding homes [00:13:41] and the destroying contents these homes, vandalizing them, [00:13:45] as we often see in the occupied West Bank a daily basis, [00:13:49] now there are upwards of 16,000 people inside this [00:13:53] camp that are under siege, for the second day uh [00:13:57] there is no one allowed in or out with the with the um [00:14:00] entrances into the camp closed off and there is a curfew, no [00:14:04] one is allowed in the streets even to get anything eat or um [00:14:08] or so. the Israeli military has also prevented and [00:14:12] obstructed the work of ambulances trying to [00:14:15] evacuate those 16 people who were injured, the majority them with [00:14:19] severe physical assault including multiple men in their [00:14:22] early to late 50s. so you're talking about elderly people [00:14:26] being beaten up and what's happening is that the Israeli military breaks [00:14:30] down people's home front doors - barges in [00:14:34] or storms the house with 10 to 15 soldiers, they carry out [00:14:38] physical assault against the residents, they carry out mass [00:14:41] interrogations, over at least 60 people [00:14:45] have been interrogated so far and arrested according to the [00:14:48] palestinian prisoner society [00:14:51] and it's very important to note. two things, [00:14:55] one, this is a main road, it is very vital [00:14:59] artery, uh, as you [00:15:01] can see, there should be cars bumper to bumper, but the movement is very [00:15:04] weak, uh, this road ties between the north and [00:15:08] the center the occupied west bank with Jerusalem and the south, so [00:15:12] the fact that they are blocking the movement here means that they are [00:15:16] affecting tens of thousands of people who move through here every day, [00:15:20] for work, for health care, for other, their own businesses. addition [00:15:24] to that, the Israel Military has been demolishing Palestinian [00:15:27] businesses, they've been carrying [00:15:30] out demolitions of Palestinian car washes, clothes, [00:15:34] stores and other businesses here. [00:15:37] in around the Colandia refugee camp and [00:15:41] near the Collandia military checkpoint. And the last note is very [00:15:45] important to make, there are no, I mean the Israeli military is talking about this [00:15:49] being a military operation, but there are no armed elements [00:15:53] inside these camps that are organized any way that would put up a [00:15:56] front or to resist uh Israel's military.
