Riad wants military [00:00:42] assistance from the United States, but reports claim that Washington is reluctant to [00:00:46] offer anything beyond Intel. Tensions are also high in the straight of [00:00:49] Homus. Iran's media says [00:00:52] of that Tehran has downed [00:00:53] an american drone. Iran's also accused the United States of [00:00:57] targeting its fishing boats and the two countries what... have conflicting accounts [00:01:01] about what happened in attack on an oil tanker there, tech giant [00:01:05] in anthropics [00:01:06] of calling for kill switch, is AI technology grows ever more [00:01:09] of powerful, but President Trump is not concerned, in fact he's dismissed such [00:01:13] warnings as being part of hoax, as the fight over AI [00:01:16] regulation [00:01:17] of heats up, and amid war and dwindling supplies in Gaza, we're going to take a [00:01:21] look at how the region's only animal shelter is fighting to keep the [00:01:25] animals that he's been caring for [00:01:28] of alive, those stories are much more on the way, This is your news [00:01:30] hour. [00:01:43] in a [00:01:47] The fighting between Yemen's Anserala Huthi group and [00:01:51] Saudi-backed government is spreading with both [00:01:55] of sides continuing to launch attacks overnight, triggering fears [00:01:59] of a full-fledged war, three people, [00:02:02] of including two children have been killed in Saudi led coalition air strikes in [00:02:06] Yemen's Taise province, that's according to Huthyrum media, two others have been [00:02:10] injured in strikes elsewhere. Saudi [00:02:12] of Arabia had said it would respond firmly to Huthy attacks [00:02:16] of injured 13 civilians in three Saudi cities on [00:02:19] Monday. Earlier Riad issued [00:02:21] of emergency alerts in [00:02:22] of six cities before later declaring the danger had passed. The alerts come as the [00:02:26] Hutis advance along Yemen's Red Sea coast towards. [00:02:30] the babandab straight, key global shipping route. At least [00:02:33] 125,000 people now have been displaced, more than [00:02:36] 2,0 people fleeing to dzibouti since the start of September, [00:02:40] according to the United Nations. Insecurity is restricting [00:02:44] humanitarian access and supplies are [00:02:46] a running critically low. We appeal [00:02:50] to the humanitarian organizations and the international [00:02:54] community to intervene and provide shelter for these families [00:02:58] and ensure that they receive. food, water, clothing [00:03:02] and accommodation, we appeal to humanitarian organizations and the [00:03:05] international community to intervene and provide shelter for these families and [00:03:09] ensure that they receive food, water, clothing and [00:03:13] a accommodation. okay, let's get an update [00:03:17] now from mohammed [00:03:18] of alatab, of joins me live from the yemeny capital. what can you tell us then [00:03:21] about the the [00:03:22] of latest facing on the [00:03:26] of ground? yes. the [00:03:30] current development what we are witnessing the the [00:03:34] of continuation [00:03:34] of the air strikes on areas under the control of all these [00:03:38] particular according to [00:03:39] of hothy media outlets they said that the air strikes have [00:03:43] targeted [00:03:44] of regions in saada, kitaf and [00:03:46] also they also mentioned that the [00:03:50] other air [00:03:51] of strikes of have targeted [00:03:53] in the the governmental compound in the mud khadir [00:03:57] district in tas especially [00:03:59] of also the continuation [00:04:00] of the air strikes that continue on the [00:04:04] areas that have been [00:04:05] of recently taken on on by the houthies and particular [00:04:09] the mokaport city [00:04:11] a where they have targeted lubab and also they targeted alkhukha [00:04:15] which is to the to the to the [00:04:18] of north [00:04:18] of the mocapot city which was also recently [00:04:22] a taken by the his in their advance towards the most [00:04:26] important and strategic coastal port city of muka. [00:04:30] Also the other air strikes also are taking place in other regions, [00:04:34] but so far the his continue to [00:04:38] reach attacks against Saudi Arabia, but so far the recent uh [00:04:42] declaration by the Houthies during his press, he mentioned that they have attacked [00:04:45] the king Khalid [00:04:48] a airbase in khamis musheid and also [00:04:50] a tive the accused Saudi Arabia [00:04:51] of the [00:04:52] of the continuation [00:04:53] of their attacks on their positions and they threatened that they will [00:04:57] would further escalate and further attack. the the [00:05:01] Saudi oil facilities and also ports [00:05:04] in in retaliation to what they say for the [00:05:07] Saudi continue continued blockade on their areas and their [00:05:11] seaports uh and also we are witnessing also the [00:05:14] the continuation the [00:05:16] the international internationally recognized [00:05:19] governmentts forces advanced towards the areas [00:05:23] under the control thehies the recent of which was [00:05:27] their advance towards the the region the district of [00:05:31] shamayatain which have been retaken by the inter by the [00:05:35] internationally recognized government so far the latest [00:05:38] developments are having its impact on the humanitarian situation [00:05:42] people. are continue to suffer, especially from the areas and which [00:05:45] have recently witnessed this flash out of [00:05:49] violence uh after the advance the hudis towards mocapot [00:05:52] city, now we are witnessing nearly [00:05:56] 85,000 people have been displaced and the this [00:06:00] situation continue to deteriorate as the access of [00:06:04] humanitarian as the humanitarian aid [00:06:07] access towards the regions where the violence is taking place is [00:06:11] difficult. for the international humanitarian aid [00:06:15] agencies. addition to capturing the [00:06:19] port city of Morka, um, the Houti forces also seem to have set their [00:06:23] sights on the energy rich married province. have [00:06:27] these extensive saudi air strikes done anything to [00:06:30] slow their advances in that [00:06:32] direction? [00:06:55] administration meanwhile has reportedly ruled out direct [00:06:58] military support for Saudi Arabia against the hoothis offering intelligence [00:07:02] assistance. instead. our correspondent Andy Roschen has [00:07:06] details on [00:07:07] that. as [00:07:10] Saudi Arabia decried Hooti attacks on Monday that it [00:07:14] says injured over dozen civilians, the Saudis vowed to [00:07:18] step up their retaliation under the United Nations rules of [00:07:22] self-defense. But Riyad will not be getting military help from the [00:07:25] Trump team, which is rejecting the idea of US air strikes on [00:07:29] the hooties, and instead offering intelligent support. [00:07:33] The US did launch a couple months of air attacks on the hooties [00:07:37] last year and lost some plains in the process. The Trump team [00:07:41] reportedly does not... want to open up new front in the conflict and wants [00:07:45] to concentrate on the war with Iran, but Washington does paint a [00:07:49] picture that the U.S. has things under control. uh, [00:07:53] we've been in constant contact with the Emirates, the Saudis and others who are [00:07:56] affected in the region, so it's something the United States administration is very much [00:08:00] top of. uh, we've also been engaged in direct conversations [00:08:04] with the hoothies themselves. it's notable that the US is [00:08:07] communicating directly with the hooties. presidential administrations [00:08:11] don't normally... communicate with groups that they consider terror [00:08:15] organizations. tensions between the Saudis and the Houtis [00:08:18] escalated in June, when after year's long [00:08:22] truce, houti delegation returned to Yemen following the [00:08:25] funeral of Iran's supreme leader, and the [00:08:29] Saudis bombed the airport so that the [00:08:32] delegation could not land there, they had to land in Hoda, [00:08:36] Hodeba instead, and with the encouragement the [00:08:39] Iranians, with intelligence support from the Iranians, "the Houti's decided [00:08:43] that they would retaliate. I think it was really ill-advised the Saudis [00:08:47] and apparently they were encouraged by the Trump [00:08:50] administration to interfere with that Houti [00:08:53] delegation. And the world is beginning to feel the effects the recent [00:08:57] attack on Saudi Arabia's east-west pipeline, which is [00:09:01] believed to carry around 5% the global oil [00:09:04] supply. Reuters reports that repairs to the pipeline [00:09:08] could take five to six weeks. On Monday, oil prices hit. [00:09:12] $110 a barrel, about $16 below the [00:09:16] peak reached during the Iran war, and in the US, the price [00:09:20] of diesel, which powers the shipping industry, has hit record daily [00:09:24] highs for about a week, already fueled by the war in [00:09:27] Iran, Ukrainian attacks on Russia, and by China [00:09:31] limiting its exports to save more oil for itself, and [00:09:34] now by the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the [00:09:38] Hootis. Andy Roschup, TRT [00:09:40] World. Okay, let's bring in Khalid [00:09:44] Dower, the managing editor of Al-Adam Weekly. Welcome to you [00:09:48] Khalid. With the hoothies seemingly gaining ground, and [00:09:52] you couple that with Saudi Arabia reportedly asking for wanting military [00:09:56] assistance from the United States, does that suggest that [00:09:58] actually um, the Saudi Led coalition, despite all of its air [00:10:02] strink is struggling to contain the hoothies [00:10:04] militarily. Well, thanks for having me, [00:10:08] obviously that's the case, and the surprising quick. [00:10:12] the pro government forces supported by Saudi, enabling [00:10:16] the Hithis to control the strategic city of mocca and get [00:10:20] closer to Babel Mandab straight is very [00:10:24] clear. evidence the trouble [00:10:27] facing the Saudi backed government and even the Saudi [00:10:31] military effort inside Yemen itself, as you know [00:10:34] there was a long war between Saudi Arabia and the hoothis in Yemen [00:10:38] for at least six years before reaching a very shaky truth [00:10:42] and definitely the linkages between the [00:10:45] hies and Iran, considering that Iran is their main [00:10:49] backer is very important factor to [00:10:53] consider in this ongo escalation [00:10:56] while the United States is tightening the squeeze on the Iranians in [00:11:00] the straight of hormos, it's very clear that the [00:11:04] Iranians managed to push the houties to open another very [00:11:07] important front to further to further put pressure [00:11:11] on the US administration to stop its war and reach some sort of an [00:11:15] agreement. now I mean this is not officially confirmed, but there are reports in the [00:11:18] media that the US is reluctant to offer Saudi Arabia [00:11:22] anything beyond intelligence information that... at this point, does [00:11:26] this, if that was the case, would that suggest you there, perhaps [00:11:30] increasingly strained relationship, because this is a USA asking for help, [00:11:34] it seems like it needs that help, why would the US not be [00:11:37] forthcoming? well, probably the United [00:11:40] States has learned from the experience the bombing campaign they [00:11:44] led almost like slightly more than year ago against Yaman for [00:11:48] almost two months, as you mentioned in your report, and after that kind of bombing [00:11:52] campaign, President Trump obviously. admitted [00:11:55] the truth that the Saudis learned over many years, which is that the [00:11:59] geographic nature of Yemen, the the kind of [00:12:03] group, the Hothis and their ideology makes it difficult [00:12:06] to totally end the presence and the [00:12:10] control of this group over big parts and influential parts of [00:12:14] Yemen, so I mean there are conflicting reports to be honest, Neil, [00:12:18] between the fact that the Saudis have asked for military [00:12:21] support or they were asking for the US diplomatic support. As we have [00:12:25] seen uh J. Devans, the vice president the United States said that they were in [00:12:29] direct contact with the houties, so probably uh within the current [00:12:33] complicated situation within the war against Iran, the United States is [00:12:37] not willing to open another major front, and it was pretty significant the [00:12:41] statement made by Trump by saying that practically speaking he doesn't [00:12:44] have a problem with the Hithies, that they assured them that the US ships [00:12:48] will be able to navigate through the Red Sea and that they only had a problem with one [00:12:52] country which is Saudi Arabia, there are... other reports that [00:12:55] Gulf nations are reconsidering their relation with the United [00:12:59] States because of failing to listen to their desire to [00:13:03] end this war or to put their interest into consideration, but [00:13:06] generally speaking, it seems that the Saudis are inching closer [00:13:10] towards seeking diplomatic settlements with the Hothis and not [00:13:14] escalate, because the world cannot take the closure of Babel Manda beside [00:13:18] the straight of hormos and I'm sure that President Trump recognizes that because already [00:13:22] the price of oil is over $107. so if we close the [00:13:26] Babel Mandab and there is oil coming out from Saudi Arabia plus the [00:13:30] damage to its pipelines, it's definitely a disaster for the world [00:13:33] economy. yeah, that's an interesting point you made, because just as we were coming on [00:13:37] air, I saw report, it it was information coming from [00:13:41] French diplomats who said that the issue was being brought forward [00:13:45] to the UN security council, they want to discuss the [00:13:48] situation in the Babab straight, so as you were saying is this now becoming [00:13:52] a global concern if the... he's getting tight [00:13:56] grip on that straight that everybody could [00:13:59] suffer, certainly, certainly, [00:14:02] and mean it's [00:14:03] not a coincidence that the saudi crime prince is supposedly going to visit Egypt and [00:14:07] meet with Egyptian president today, as you know [00:14:11] if the balbel mandab straight is being closed, this means the closure the suwese [00:14:15] canal as well, so now you have the the hormos straight [00:14:18] closed, the babil mandab closed and there is no ships going [00:14:22] through this wais canal, so that's certainly a match. of international [00:14:26] concern, although what what matters at the end, Neil, on the ground [00:14:29] is that the Hies proved that they can launch this kind of [00:14:33] a symmetrical war, because as even referred to the Saudi continued military [00:14:37] strikes, just few missiles from the Yemani side, from the houti [00:14:41] side, targeting the east, west Saudi [00:14:45] pipeline, transferring millions of tons is enough to [00:14:49] uh, you know, cause the Saudi economy lot of damage and the world lot of [00:14:53] damage, so there is certainly... I mean it's [00:14:55] not a coincidence that we hear again from Trump [00:14:58] yesterday that he's again open to some sort of negotiations with [00:15:02] Iran, because there is certainly this kind of linkage, if the war slows down [00:15:06] with Iran, if this war stops, probably you will get calm on the [00:15:10] Yemani front, on the Lebanese front and definitely on the Iraqi front as [00:15:14] well, yeah I just want to get a bit more on that, that the link between the two conflicts, [00:15:18] so we had Saudi Arabia pull out a Monday's meeting with Iran and a man, [00:15:22] possibly linked to what's happening with them on the... [00:15:25] battlefront um, would you say that the conflict in Yemen, [00:15:29] if that escalates further, could that pour [00:15:32] fuel on the fire in, establishing safe roots in the straight of [00:15:36] horms and therefore? hamper attempts ease the [00:15:40] conflicts in in between Iran and the United [00:15:42] States, definitely, I mean already [00:15:46] the Iranians have are clearly feeling the pressure the US [00:15:50] sanctions and the tightening of passage [00:15:54] through the straight of hormos for Iranian oil, and [00:15:58] obviously [00:15:59] the the key you know kind of leverage that the [00:16:02] Iranians have is causing economic tremendous economic pain to the [00:16:06] United States. especially when the US president and the Republican [00:16:10] Party are facing very dissatisfied US public in the [00:16:14] upcoming mid-term elections, but more than that, I mean it's again [00:16:18] not a American Iranian issue here, it's you know the [00:16:21] interests of many world countries at stake, and perhaps [00:16:25] you know China will come up with something if [00:16:28] the the Chinese president is due to meet with the American president, I mean [00:16:32] but definitely Trump and the US administration do not [00:16:35] want to see ' a further escalation, [00:16:39] very dangerous one that affects the US consumers [00:16:43] ahead the upcoming mid-term elections and that's why mean you can see some [00:16:47] renewal of diplomatic effort to [00:16:50] basically renew the US Iranian negotiations [00:16:54] and perhaps starting from there you can see uh attempt [00:16:58] to calm the yemani saudi front as well as the [00:17:01] other fronts such as Lebanon and Israel because again all [00:17:05] them are rather interconnected. Khalid, fascinating to get [00:17:09] your take on this, thank you so much. Khalid Daward, managing the editor of [00:17:12] Al-Aram [00:17:13] Weekley. [00:17:17] Iran's media reports that two fishing boats were targeted a [00:17:21] drone attack off the country's southern coast, leaving number of fishermen [00:17:24] missing. Meanwhile Iran's revolutionary guards as an oil tanker [00:17:28] exploded and caught fire after hitting mines in [00:17:32] prohibited areas the straight of Horamos, but the US [00:17:35] military disputes the... RGC claim saying the Panama flag vessel [00:17:39] was hit by an Iranian missile last month and struck again [00:17:43] by a drone while sitting in waters off the coast of a month. The world's [00:17:47] most important oil shipping lane has been mostly shut down since the war [00:17:51] began in February, pushing energy prices to the highest level scene [00:17:55] in recent [00:17:56] years. [00:18:02] Okay, let's go live to Terran and bring in our correspondent there Razza [00:18:05] Hatomy. [00:18:06] As I mentioned. um, seems like there's very conflicting [00:18:10] narratives about attack and damage done to a tanker in the straight [00:18:14] of horm, tell us what information you have on [00:18:16] that? [00:18:20] yes, conflicting narratives continue since this war [00:18:24] started, we have heard so many conflicting narratives from Iran and the [00:18:28] United States, basically now the United States Trump [00:18:32] himself is saying that the straight has been cleared [00:18:35] of minds, but the IR gc says that this straight is not [00:18:39] cleared of mines and the latest statement by [00:18:43] IRGC as you said says that vessel, this is [00:18:47] elgaya vessel, a panamanian flagged [00:18:50] tanker hit a naval mine in the [00:18:54] southern corridor the straight of hormos, we know this southern [00:18:57] corridor has been a bone of contention between [00:19:01] Iran and the United States, Iran does not approve of [00:19:05] this southern lane that has been... designated by Oman [00:19:09] and the United States, so the IRGC says that that vessel hit a [00:19:13] mine over there, but the sentcom, the US [00:19:17] military says that the reason [00:19:21] for the attack, I mean the attack was due to a drone a [00:19:24] drone, an Iranian drone hitting this vessel, not [00:19:27] a naval mine, separately, Iran has [00:19:31] reported attack on fishing boats, civilian [00:19:35] fishing boats the... port of Kargan, this is [00:19:39] a port along the eastern uh coast [00:19:43] the straight of Formus. Iran says several [00:19:46] fishermen have gone missing as result of that attack which Iranian media [00:19:50] has attributed to the United States, [00:19:54] and we have heard on so many occasions Iranian officials reporting [00:19:58] civilian casualties as result of US air [00:20:02] strikes. [00:20:03] the the last major one happened earlier this month when a [00:20:07] US strike, according to Iranians hit a wedding in [00:20:11] the city of Kuhastak along the straight of [00:20:15] Hormus, and on Sunday also Iran [00:20:18] reported attack a civilian ship and a container [00:20:22] ship in the straight of Hormus again, and as [00:20:25] result of that attack Iran says that one person has been [00:20:29] killed and several several others including Pakistani [00:20:32] nationals were injured, and at the same [00:20:36] time Iran has reported shooting down a us [00:20:40] mq1 drone over [00:20:41] the straight of hormo, so this skirmishes continue both [00:20:45] in air on the sea as the two [00:20:49] sides. uh, it seems that the two sides are not close to [00:20:53] any sort of political settlement. yeah, military things seem to be [00:20:57] deteriorating in terms of freeing, opening and access to [00:21:01] the straight of horm. mean, there had been hope that yesterday, monday there was going to be the [00:21:05] meeting, iran aman, foreign ministers the gulf states to come to some [00:21:09] kind of agreement, we know that was postponed. do we know any details [00:21:13] though about what the shipping lanes might look like, [00:21:17] what details are there about any anything agreed between? run and a [00:21:20] man. [00:21:24] yes, Iran says that an interim [00:21:27] agreement, a temporary arrangement has been reached with oman [00:21:31] about the shipping lanes and shipping routes in [00:21:35] the straight of armus, but the latest reported attack by the IRGC [00:21:39] shows that probably that agreement is not being [00:21:43] implemented. well, Iran and Oman say that they have agreed [00:21:46] on roots in the straight of hormous and inbound [00:21:50] route to the north of this straight, this route would [00:21:53] be in Iranian territorial waters, the inbound route, and the [00:21:57] outbound root is in the south the straight, most of it is in [00:22:01] Omani waters, one tiny part of [00:22:03] it is in Iranian waters, so these lines, [00:22:07] these lanes, these roots, these corridors are supposed to be approved [00:22:11] by both countries, but as I just said, the latest [00:22:15] attack shows that probably this agreement is not being implemented, [00:22:19] yesterday on Monday the spokesperson for Iran's foreign ministry [00:22:23] said that the agreement with Oman has been finalized and the two [00:22:26] countries are in consultation to determine how and when [00:22:30] to announce it and register it with the international maritime [00:22:33] organization. Thank you so much to me bring us the [00:22:37] latest there from Tehran. [00:22:41] Ryan Bole is a senior Middle East and North Africa analyst at the Risk [00:22:45] Assistance Network Exchange Rain. He says Washington currently has a little [00:22:48] incentive. its attacks on Iran, [00:22:52] from the American perspective, their low ammunitions, [00:22:55] the the Pentagon Inspector General came out public with how low those munitions [00:22:59] are, and so it's no secret that the Americans have simply run out the [00:23:03] high-end equipment that they prefer for this kind of war, and the political will [00:23:06] in Washington is also very low for regional escalation, plus we're [00:23:10] also dealing with all the economic effects the closure of Hormus from [00:23:14] higher than normal bond rates, to growing inflation worries [00:23:18] to higher gas prices. "there's a lot of reasons that the US wants to to not [00:23:22] seize a single moment uh to return to that escalation that we saw [00:23:26] in the spring from the Iranian perspective it's similar in that they believe that their [00:23:30] current strategy is paying off against the Americans, undermining their [00:23:33] economy, undermining their political will, so there's not a strong incentive [00:23:37] to go back to a full-scale escalation unless they are provoked by the [00:23:41] Americans first, and so we that's where we're at is we're looking at the Americans [00:23:45] as the first movers for escalation, but at least at the moment there's [00:23:49] not a..." driver to do so at the scale we saw earlier this [00:23:53] year. uh, President Trump has been pretty clear that he thinks that this is about [00:23:56] his legacy, he thinks it is about solving the Iran problem wholesale, [00:24:00] which means that that sort of implies that proxies and missiles will come back into a [00:24:04] negotiation process if one ever begins uh, because after all [00:24:08] that's that's what he sold the war about, was this comprehensive [00:24:12] reframing the Iran threat, the Iran challenge, even regime [00:24:15] change from his perspective, but the more narrow approaches seem to be... [00:24:20] right now restoring freedom of navigation around Hormus and getting the [00:24:24] Iranians back to nuclear uh program talks uh that I think [00:24:28] would be major success for this administration, particularly if they can do it [00:24:31] before the mid-terms. I just don't see any signs that the Iranians are willing to give them [00:24:35] that victory uh in that timeline. Turkish [00:24:39] president Rijip Tygan says that Anchorer is stepping up its role [00:24:43] addressing challenges facing the region and the wider Muslim [00:24:46] world, pointing to rising tensions in the Gulf. He says: [00:25:50] purpose of this step is for these three countries to come together and god [00:25:53] willing send a signal from here to the muslim world. there are [00:25:57] positive developments and we will achieve this as [00:26:00] well. [00:26:09] 'Okay, let's see how the global conflicts we've been discussing affecting [00:26:12] the financial markets, will stocks remain under pressure as [00:26:16] pullback from tech shares and the concerns over tight energy [00:26:20] supplies and the inflation outlook, oil prices, they've held near [00:26:24] multi-month highs, brent crew at around $107 [00:26:28] a barrel after rising 3% on Monday, disruptions linked of [00:26:32] course to the'. shut down of Saudi Arabia's east-west oil pipeline, that's keeping [00:26:35] pressure on global supplies. industry sources say stocks at the kingdom's [00:26:39] yambu terminal could last just five to seven days and [00:26:43] the repairs might take anything up to six weeks. those [00:26:47] energy supply concerns are also weighing on broader market sentiment. electronics [00:26:51] and semiconductor names across Soul and type bore the brunt the [00:26:54] selling as traders aggressively sold risk assets in favor of [00:26:58] bonds. the weakness reflects growing AI, safety fears and d [00:27:02] over whether the rapid spending on AI infrastructure can continue, [00:27:06] investors are now turning their attention to Wednesday's Fed reserve meeting, [00:27:10] hotter than expected US inflation, boosting expectations there'll be [00:27:14] rate hike, markets are pricing in more than an 85% [00:27:18] chance of a 25 basis point increase, it would be the Fed's [00:27:22] first rate hike scene since [00:27:23] mid-2023. Tim Warter is chief [00:27:27] market analyst at KCM trade, he says elevated all prices and rising [00:27:31] bond yields are putting downward pressure on [00:27:33] equities, lot of forces at play at the moment, hard [00:27:37] to know where to look, but it's really that combination of high oil [00:27:41] and high bond yields, that's a of [00:27:43] bit red flag for risk assets such as stocks at the moment, [00:27:47] given what they say about the inflation out and by extension [00:27:50] monetary policy and how that may impact growth a corporate and economic [00:27:54] level moving forward, so not a lot of good news for stock markets [00:27:58] right now, i think traders like to see a little bit of a... are [00:28:02] released in terms of that oil price and or bond yields to get some momentum [00:28:06] back, so I guess lot will come down to this week - what message we get from the [00:28:10] federal reserve and whether they're leaning on the hawkish or dovish side as to [00:28:14] whether stocks can regain their mojale [00:28:16] again. two the stories making headlines [00:28:20] around the world, the Panama Canals cutting daily shipping traffic [00:28:23] again as Zelninho has reduce the [00:28:27] waterway of some of its water, authorities will reduce daily passages [00:28:31] to average of... 29 a day to conserve supply for the lock [00:28:35] system, the restriction hits key artery handling 5% of [00:28:39] global trade, which is already under heavy pressure from re-rooted [00:28:42] maritime traffic. officials warn this year is weather pattern could be the strongest [00:28:46] scene in four decades. also the US has imposed new [00:28:50] sanctions on Russia's VTB bank and accuses it of helping Iran [00:28:54] to move billions of dollars of frozen assets. Washington says the [00:28:58] lender also expanded its presence in Iran and built ties with [00:29:01] sanctioned Iranian banks. VTB was already under US sanctions [00:29:05] since 2022, limiting its access to the US financial [00:29:09] system. And Japan has recorded more than 100 [00:29:13] thousands centenarians for the first time in its history with [00:29:17] women making up nearly 90% them. Experts say healthy [00:29:20] diets, low obesity rates and universal healthcare are among the [00:29:24] reasons that people in Japan live so long. The government is now trying to [00:29:28] extend healthy livespans by three years as the population continues.
