[00:12:05] McLamore's forced exit, the tour faced a mass
[00:12:09] walkout. All four of featuren's supporting acts pulled
[00:12:13] out in solidarity with McLamore, including the brother of
[00:12:17] American pop singer Billy
[00:12:19] Ilish. And shortly before the
[00:12:22] walkout, Ed Sherin issued a... post on instagram
[00:12:26] before his others support acts withdrew. was involved
[00:12:30] in the direct talks with promoters along with activist on both sides to
[00:12:34] try and find a mutual resolution for all and blamed the
[00:12:38] venues naming billionaire robert craft boga the Irish
[00:12:42] folk band who also pulled out from the tour had this to say about
[00:12:46] craft. research how much Robert Craft fights the
[00:12:50] BDS movement. on Wednesday McLamore
[00:12:53] announced he will don't made $1 million from his tour
[00:12:57] earnings to six Palestinian aid groups. He then challenged
[00:13:01] Robert Craft to match it. Craft responded by pledging 2
[00:13:05] million for humanitarian aid in the region, but
[00:13:08] despite it all, the controversy has raised questions about who
[00:13:12] ultimately controls the message a concert stage, the
[00:13:16] artist, the promoter, or the
[00:13:19] Wenew, and this week we're featuring a piece by TRT

[00:17:12] supporting acts after he was dropped from his North American
[00:17:15] tour. That's supporting act was US rapper Macalmore,
[00:17:19] whose pro-palestinian comments prompted several stadium owners to
[00:17:23] object to his appearance. Led by billionaire Robert
[00:17:26] Kraft, they informed Sheren that his concerts could not be
[00:17:30] held at their venues if the US rapper continued as the opening
[00:17:33] act. Shiran responded by saying he did not agree with
[00:17:37] them and that he was a political, but his failure to fight for
[00:17:41] Makelmore led to all four of his opening acts and the live band
[00:17:45] pulling out the tour. I am just thinking about how
[00:17:49] Ed Sheeren could have been such hero. when Robert Craft
[00:17:53] called Ed Sheron and said, "you need to take Maclamore off of your
[00:17:56] tour,
[00:17:57] or we're canceling your dates at our venues, Ed Sheiren could have
[00:18:01] called his bluff and said, "do it, okay, cancel my dates, because
[00:18:05] it would have been a huge loss of money for Robert Craft as" as well, so one, he might have
[00:18:08] changed his mind and just let the concerts go on, but two, even if Robert
[00:18:12] Craft did cancel
[00:18:14] Ed Sheeren's dates, Ed Sheiren could have released a statement and said, sorry guys, he's canceling
[00:18:17] these dates and we will have to reschedule a different venue because
[00:18:21] he wants to stifle Maclimore's free speech, and I'm not going to
[00:18:25] stand for my friend being removed from tour because he said free
[00:18:29] Palestine, because what's crazy is that Ed Sheron wouldn't have had to take some super
[00:18:33] radical stance on Palestine, he could have really made it a free speech
[00:18:37] issue. and said like McLamore, his free speech is being suppressed and
[00:18:40] like I'm not going to stand for that. Hey everybody, look, it's Mr. I don't take sides or
[00:18:44] do politics edge cheer and out here publicly showing his support for
[00:18:48] Ukraine. I just want to say to all Ukrainians that I love you, I stand with you
[00:18:52] and I'm so proud we playing this fundraising event next. Here's Ed Sharon, Mr. I
[00:18:56] don't take sides, meeting with an Israeli who was taken hostage and released by Hamas
[00:19:00] in 2024, and he has the audacity to say that he's not comprissive.
[00:19:04] On September 4th at the Met Live Stadium in New Jersey, Macamore
[00:19:08] told the audience he wanted the people of Gaza and the occupied West Bank to
[00:19:12] know they have not been forgotten. A day later he went to
[00:19:15] clarify that criticizing the Israeli government is not an attack on Jewish
[00:19:19] people. Since the war in Gaza began in 2023,
[00:19:22] artists across the world have spoken out, but this time Venia
[00:19:26] owners and promoters chose to silence
[00:19:29] Makelmore. One the
[00:19:32] reasons why I wanted to come on this tour was because I wanted
[00:19:36] to stand
[00:19:37] up here. on stages and stadiums across
[00:19:41] America and say two words that are very
[00:19:44] near and dear to my heart,
[00:19:47] free Palestine, to
[00:19:51] all of my Jewish brothers and sisters,
[00:19:55] criticism of Israel, criticism of
[00:19:58] apartide being against genocide in no
[00:20:02] way is a criticism of you. September 6th, the Israeli-American
[00:20:06] council launched to. urging ed Sheron not to allow his tour to be used for
[00:20:10] what it calls one-sided political propaganda. On
[00:20:13] September 11th, the artist Pink publicly condemned McLamore's
[00:20:17] rhetoric on Instagram, other high profile personality speaking out
[00:20:21] against what McLamore said, really highlighted what McLamore said on another
[00:20:25] level. September 14th, McLamore announces that he has been
[00:20:29] dropped from the tour and on September 15th, Ed Sheron released a
[00:20:33] statement saying that Mclamore coming off tour was the promoter's decision. It
[00:20:37] was not. Maclamour's contract for the tour
[00:20:40] was with the promoter, not me. I am not complicit. I have my personal
[00:20:44] views on this devastating conflict, but this was such a
[00:20:48] bad statement. and it has made the situation
[00:20:52] significantly worse, so then the remaining supporting acts have
[00:20:55] withdrawn from his tour. on September 16th, McLamore has pledged his
[00:20:59] tour earnings to Palestine AID, so he announced that he will donate $1
[00:21:03] million in net earnings from the tour to organizations that support
[00:21:07] Palestinians and he linked them in his caption, and
[00:21:11] then he also challenged Robert Craft to do the same. Craft has
[00:21:15] actually responded. Ed called me and asked me to commit $2 million to
[00:21:18] match his donation to...
[00:21:20] in the region to fight this humanitarian crisis. Okay, you're welcome
[00:21:24] to read the rest of that statement if you want, but I'm going to stop there and point
[00:21:28] out few things about this absolute dog statement. First of all,
[00:21:32] it is not an accident that Robert Kraft did not specifically
[00:21:35] name what organizations he will be donating to, and instead
[00:21:39] simply says that he will be donating to organizations in the
[00:21:43] region. He's not going to donate any of that money to Palestinian
[00:21:47] aid organizations. He's going to donate it. to the other
[00:21:50] side, just like he has with millions and millions and millions of his dollars
[00:21:54] in the past. what if the person
[00:21:58] deciding whether you're a potential threat isn't a police officer, but
[00:22:02] an algorithm? it sounds like the premise of minor to report.
[00:22:06] in other words, predict dangerous behavior before it happens and
[00:22:10] intervene before a crime is committed. we predictive surveillance
[00:22:14] is moving from science fiction into the real world. investigation
[00:22:18] by the American prospects says: Antropic is expanding an
[00:22:21] intelligence operation that monitors protests near company
[00:22:25] facilities and people considered potential threats to its
[00:22:28] executives. A recent job posting suggests that the operation
[00:22:32] could go further with intelligence staff task with
[00:22:35] identifying and investigating a range of potential threats
[00:22:38] including political activism. Last month
[00:22:42] Antropic contacted police after cloud user said he had bought
[00:22:46] an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and had C
[00:22:51] in his sites, the man later told reporters he had been
[00:22:54] joking, and tropic reportedly declined to provide police with
[00:22:58] the underlying messages citing company policy, so the
[00:23:02] debate isn't simply about whether companies should report credible
[00:23:05] threats, it's about what happens when monitoring moves from
[00:23:09] responding to something someone has done towards predicting
[00:23:13] what they might do next.
[00:23:16] anthropic is hardly alone, predictive policing, is already
[00:23:20] moving into law enforcement around the world, governments and
[00:23:24] militaries around the world are figuring out ways how to predict crime and
[00:23:28] attacks before they happen. let me explain: you didn't see minority
[00:23:32] part, it is a 2002 sci-fi film directed by Stephen Spielberg, starring Tom
[00:23:35] Cruz is a police officer who works with psychics to predict and stop
[00:23:39] crime before it happened. the US military during their time in Afghanistan

[00:24:02] are going to start using AI to predict and stop crime in their country. They're
[00:24:06] creating a special security unit that uses social media data as well
[00:24:10] as weather and historical crime data to predict where future crime might
[00:24:13] happen and to stop. In June, India said AI,
[00:24:17] machine learning and pattern analysis would be. to identify repeat
[00:24:21] offenders and criminal networks. Israel military and
[00:24:24] intelligence insiders described surveillance and AI assisted
[00:24:28] targeting during the war in Gaza and in the US, the federal
[00:24:32] government is also expanding intelligence operations aimed at
[00:24:36] identifying potential domestic threats, but critics raise
[00:24:40] questions over transparency, privacy, accountability and
[00:24:44] bias, particularly when historical policing data is used
[00:24:48] to predict future behavior. because an algorithm doesn't
[00:24:51] begin with clean slate. don't
[00:24:53] you want to go through like social media profiles and maybe identify
[00:24:57] people before they become radicalized or do something? sure, we already have people

[00:26:43] coordinates and handles the requests for you. why i opening instagram and being
[00:26:47] asked to meet muse my new personal ai agent? why why is
[00:26:51] instagram saying it can help organize my inbox and
[00:26:55] create reservations? why why? why you want to be in my

[00:27:06] model, and even if you look at their premium tiers, their premium tiers, mean super
[00:27:09] generous right, the number of credits that you get, shared some privacy around

[00:27:17] love data, they're making a really great product, they're making it free or
[00:27:21] very low price for lot of usage, they're really going for is everyday
[00:27:25] users, get as many for users as possible and eventually monetize
[00:27:29] potentially with ads, basically you have not been giving an of your
[00:27:33] personal data to meta, they now have a product
[00:27:36] for you where you can give the rest of everything about your life to them in order

[00:27:48] singapore, the city state, has just launched a campaign that rewards people
[00:27:52] for picking up a book and reading for at least 15 minutes a
[00:27:55] day. it's all part of an effort to fight the rise of doom

[00:28:16] in read sg, which is the new reading initiative by the government and the national
[00:28:19] library of Singapore. basically it is five-year reading initiative to get Singaporans
[00:28:23] into reading. we're hoping to do this with 15-minute increments and you can log these
[00:28:27] reading sessions on the government website crowd task where you can get points and from those
[00:28:31] points you can eventually get cash out of it, so I know that currently it takes a thous
[00:28:35] points to get a dollar and you get 20 points, I believe for every
[00:28:39] rating session that you log, it doesn't matter how long the reading session is, it should be a
[00:28:43] minimum of 15 minutes, but it can go up to past 60 minutes,
[00:28:45] it is designed for people who do not regularly read anyways, and you can read across a bunch of
[00:28:49] different platforms, you can read across like ebooks, graphic novels, newspapers,
[00:28:52] magazines, stuff online, physical books, also currently i believe all the points that are
[00:28:56] being accumulated from everyone's reading time from now until October 7th will be converted into
[00:29:00] money and will be donated to a charity. designed around literacy and reading, the global
[00:29:04] literacy rate is dropping. i think we do hear a lot about the west, specifically
[00:29:08] America talking about their literacy rate dropping, but it
