[00:00:16] Saudi authorities say another projectile hits the [00:00:18] a international airport in Riyadh as the hoothies claim [00:00:21] of responsibility for Saturday's deadly strike on the same [00:00:23] airport. Hello and welcome to TRT World Live from Istanbul, [00:00:27] I'm Jafar Hasman also coming [00:00:29] a up. Israel expands it so-called yellow line in [00:00:33] Gaza, forcing dozens of Palestinian families to flee in the middle [00:00:36] of the night. Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine have agreed [00:00:40] to halt a strikes on each other's energy infrastructure. Volodimir Zelensky welcomes [00:00:44] the move. The Polish interior minister [00:00:48] of says the man who threatened and planned to attack prime minister Donald Tusk has been [00:00:52] arrested. [00:01:08] We start in Saudi Arabia where authorities say another projectile has hit [00:01:12] Riyadh's main airport causing [00:01:14] of fire. The attack comes less than day after a missile strike at the same airport killed [00:01:18] 13 people and injured [00:01:19] of more than 300 others. The hoothies have claimed responsibility for the [00:01:23] attack. The militia has also warned airlines and travelers to stay [00:01:27] away from Saudi airports. Basambi begins our [00:01:31] coverage. Saudi Arabia has been [00:01:35] hit hard, deep inside its territory. There was [00:01:39] panic inside the domestic terminals of King Khalid [00:01:43] of International Airport in [00:01:44] of Riyadh after it was track by a missile on Saturday [00:01:47] afternoon. The Saudi led military coalition [00:01:51] describes [00:01:52] of what happened as a war crime, vowing, decisive [00:01:55] response. A projectile also landed [00:01:59] near King. international airport in [00:02:02] Damasmam, the saudis blame the ansar allah [00:02:05] hutis from neighboring yeman for the attacks, the UN [00:02:09] secretary [00:02:10] a general also pointed the finger at the group. [00:02:13] Antonio Guterej demanded that the attack stopped [00:02:17] immediately. The Iran-backed group [00:02:21] said it carried out separate strikes on Riad's main airport [00:02:25] on Thursday, killing three people and damaging an [00:02:28] aircraft, but haven't claimed responsibility [00:02:31] me for Saturday's strike, hours before, the [00:02:35] Huties had said they were [00:02:37] of prepared to take reciprocal steps with Saudi [00:02:40] of Arabia to keep airports, seaports and other civilian [00:02:44] facilities used for humanitarian [00:02:47] of purposes out [00:02:48] a of the expanding confrontation. The question now is [00:02:52] whether or not the US were respond to Saudi calls to join [00:02:56] in, I think it's terrible. [00:03:00] well you're going to find out, see, but I think it's [00:03:03] in terrible. are the soudes able to defend themselves on? well, they're [00:03:07] able to defend. look, the saudis are good fighters, but I think [00:03:11] the attack was terrible thing. The Hithis have already put [00:03:15] pressure on Saudi Arabia through [00:03:17] of their control [00:03:19] of of the Babel Mandab straight, through which much of Saudi Arabia's [00:03:23] oil exports are [00:03:25] of shipped, but in the past week, the Yemani [00:03:28] government forces... backed by Saudi Arabia have [00:03:32] made some progress in [00:03:34] of pushing back the Hi advance. They claimed on [00:03:37] Saturday to have killed more than 1,400 [00:03:41] huti fighters in 24 hours. The [00:03:45] next move could determine not only the state of this [00:03:49] conflict, but whether the [00:03:51] in region again becomes engaffed in [00:03:57] of war. Earlier I spoke to. President [00:04:00] of the Pakistan based think tank initiate futures about whether or not Saudi Arabia is [00:04:04] expected to retaliate. If you take a look [00:04:08] at the statements from Al Turkey and most [00:04:11] of the Saudi Milit has happened on the king Khalid international airport while 12 [00:04:15] of civilians are over 300 casualties of which many [00:04:18] of them have been injured has taken place. It clearly suggests a major [00:04:22] escalation. It shows that the whole rebels or the Saudis would like to [00:04:26] call [00:04:26] them be terrorists are not really inclined towards respecting international. [00:04:30] humanitarian law, they actually want [00:04:32] in escalate this conflict to point whereby they're sending strategic [00:04:36] signals according to them, that the aviation industry [00:04:39] in in Saudi Arabia and their interception capacity [00:04:43] of the ballistic misiles which are actually incoming in the capital Riyadh can [00:04:46] easily be exposed, so I think that Saudi Arabia is under immense [00:04:50] pressure to basically, first of all look forward [00:04:54] to the prospect of you know looking at the prospect of [00:04:58] you know calling upon the... allies whether it's Turkey according to the Maka defense [00:05:02] agreement to provide them with the necessary you could say military [00:05:06] equipment and the capability and the counterdrone [00:05:09] strategies which are [00:05:11] in enshrined in the agreement to attack the hoothies because this is major escalation and [00:05:15] as we're speaking right now, there's been another attack at the King Khalid international [00:05:19] airport which has resulted in significant debris, so it clearly suggests that [00:05:23] the hotis are pretty much adamant that they want to expose [00:05:26] Saudi Arabia and it's ability to basically defend itself, which obviously is [00:05:30] red line for the kingdom, and this is what I'm struggling to understand [00:05:34] at this point in time, I understand hutis are backed by Iran, but when it comes to [00:05:38] the latest escalation between the Houthis and the Saudis, are the Hutis? [00:05:42] acting independently or are they getting direct [00:05:46] support from Iran? well, first of all, [00:05:49] it's very difficult to distinguish between Hothies as a proxy [00:05:53] and [00:05:54] as an independent actor. now the Hutis would claim that they are [00:05:57] independently acting and retaliating against what they consider to be [00:06:01] Saudi violations of international humanitarian law in [00:06:04] Yemen, and obviously they responded by curtailing the Bubble [00:06:08] under the Babel Mandip straight as well as ensuring that they could... [00:06:13] strategically significant cities, whether it's Raad or the religious city of [00:06:17] Makkah, but obviously Iran's role in this entire conflict can [00:06:21] not necessarily be, [00:06:23] you know, you can't dilute Iran's role, because Iran has [00:06:26] historically and in contemporary times, obviously provided the hoothy rebels [00:06:30] with political, economic and military support, but obviously the [00:06:33] Iranian regime, I mean if you take a look at the statements on theran, they be very cautious [00:06:37] in basically claiming responsibility or even [00:06:41] condemming... the attacks from the huti rebels as well, so it's a [00:06:44] difficult um, unless we don't have actual, we [00:06:48] can't really establish whether this was winked by Iran or whether [00:06:52] this was proxy warfare, classical proxy warfare, [00:06:56] or whether the hoothies were actually acting independently, but what we can establish [00:07:00] is that this has historically been an iran aligned [00:07:04] group which has operated in the middle east and is an extremely integral part [00:07:08] of Iran's so-called access of resistance which also includes the [00:07:11] Iraqia. as well as hezbollah in Lebanon, [00:07:15] so this is going to be very interesting to see as to whether or not [00:07:19] this was an independent claim, but the Hothies have claimed quite [00:07:22] unabashedly that they independently acted with regard to the Riyadh attack [00:07:26] which resulted in 12 casualties, and now there is also talk [00:07:30] about the US possibly attacking the hoodies, certainly [00:07:33] president Donald Trump is deciding whether or not he should send his [00:07:37] forces, if the US directly gets involved at this [00:07:41] stage, what would it? mean for the future of this [00:07:43] war? well, Donald Trump obviously, [00:07:47] you know, he does want to uh brandish his credentials as a [00:07:50] peacemaker, he hasn't ruled out negotiations between the two [00:07:54] parties, but if the escalatory, if you take a look at his latest press [00:07:57] conference, where you speaking to the journalists for that matter, it is quite clear [00:08:01] that he wants these attacks to basically stop. now with this [00:08:05] continuation of attacks, first was the drone which actually penetrated into the [00:08:09] religious city of Mecca, then you had the King Khalid airport being attacked. [00:08:12] twice the latest attack which took place today, which resulted a [00:08:16] ballistic mizar resulting in debri all [00:08:19] across the airport, that would ser seriously [00:08:22] suggest that the US would want to make sure that some sort of military [00:08:26] deployments actually do take place to defend the kingdom, but I [00:08:29] thinstan as signatiries [00:08:32] to the Mecca defense agreement would respond to this, because collective defense and [00:08:35] ensuring that the sanctity the kingdom is respected and whether [00:08:39] attack a member state results... it is actually equated [00:08:43] to attack on all member states, those are the central tenents the Mecca defense [00:08:47] agreement, so the United States as well as regional players and allies [00:08:51] of Saudi Arabia could definitely respond in kind to this, but it if [00:08:55] the hoothis continue to go ahead on this escalatory path, we [00:08:59] could see increased American involvement and engagement as well [00:09:03] as military deployments, but it really does depend on whether this escalation [00:09:07] would increase. I don't think this is a strategic move, the Hutis would [00:09:11] want to signal to the... middle east that Saudi Arabia's [00:09:14] economic, you could say it's ability economically sustain itself is [00:09:18] questionable, they don't have the interception capacity, they also believe that [00:09:22] you know the aviation industry would also be [00:09:26] subject to their own dictates, so this is more of a strategic move, but if it [00:09:30] continues escalate then yes you could say you could uh [00:09:33] for you, you could speculate as to whether or not American [00:09:37] increase military involv, turkish foreign ministry [00:09:40] has strongly condemned sat is who the attack on king Khalid international airport in [00:09:44] Riyadh a statement it says these attacks which deliberately target civilian [00:09:48] infrastructure and innocent civilians constitute a clear violation [00:09:52] of international law and the principles of international humanitarian [00:09:55] law. We emphasized that such actions which pose a threat to regional [00:09:58] security and stability and undermine the international community collective efforts to [00:10:02] establish peace must seize immediately. As Turkey we [00:10:06] reaffirm our support for Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and [00:10:10] territorial integrity. [00:10:18] The Israeli military is expanding its so-called yellow line in the [00:10:22] east of Gaza City, Israeli forces opened. fire and [00:10:25] launched artillery shelling in shujaya injuring two palestinians including a [00:10:29] pregnant woman. dozens of Palestinian families were forced to flee once again [00:10:33] in search of safety following advances by Israeli [00:10:36] military. locals describe it as night of [00:10:40] terror filled with heavy Israeli [00:10:42] gun fire and explosions. the UN said nearly two-third the [00:10:46] enclave is inaccessible to Palestinians or subject to [00:10:49] severe restrictions. residents of Gaza's al [00:10:53] Zawaida have. acted the aftermath of an Israeli air strike, the residents said they [00:10:57] were given five minutes to evacuate before bombs were dropped on the house on [00:11:01] Saturday. Israel has stepped up a strikes against Palestinians in [00:11:05] Gaza undermining a US broker cease fire agreed one year [00:11:09] ago. currently Israel controls more than [00:11:12] 70% in reality, because we are [00:11:16] here, we see this with our own eyes, 64%, that [00:11:19] was maybe two months ago, according to to [00:11:23] international agencies working and Gaza, but almost every hour, [00:11:27] every day far Israeli forces are creeping further [00:11:30] west. Uh, right now, more than 2 [00:11:34] million people in Gaza are living in less than 30% of of of [00:11:38] Gaza's territory. Gaza is to be [00:11:41] 360 square kilometers approximately, [00:11:45] and now people are living within about 100 kilometers and even the [00:11:48] 100 kilometers are not safe, because you have daily air [00:11:52] strikes, tank fire, sniper. fire even [00:11:56] random fire by machine guns, they they just open the fire [00:11:59] on anything that moves, they open the fires, [00:12:03] they they they move their machine guns to the western part of [00:12:07] Gaza, so the majority the territory that [00:12:10] Israel forces are pointing their forces that is towards the west, towards the [00:12:14] Mediterranean, while in some areas like Bethladia and northern [00:12:18] Gaza, they point their guns towards the south and in the [00:12:22] south they point it to towards the north, It's not only that [00:12:26] Jafar, even in the in the Mediterranean, Israeli [00:12:29] gumboats fire on people on the coastal area where [00:12:33] thousands of tents are located, tens of thousands of not hundreds [00:12:37] of hundreds of thousands of children, women, elderly [00:12:41] people are living in those tents, so [00:12:44] far today at least six people were injured, including a pregnant [00:12:48] woman, jafar in her second trimester, and [00:12:52] doctors say it's they're not sure if the... able even to [00:12:55] save the mother or or or [00:12:58] her feetus. now already [00:13:02] since the start the seifire back in October 2025 and [00:13:05] already now we already passed one year since this so-called [00:13:09] seifire. close to 1500 people have lost their lives, more than [00:13:13] 500 others injured. while earlier this morning, for [00:13:16] example in eastern gaza city less than three [00:13:20] kilometers from where i'm standing, if you go east [00:13:23] about the kil kilometers, 3 and a half kilometers, I'll be, I'll [00:13:27] be faced with a Israeli tank or a machine gun in [00:13:31] front of me, of course nobody, nobody even dares to get close to that area [00:13:35] where Israely soldiers are located, few hundred [00:13:39] meters to the west the [00:13:42] so-called to this to the east the so-called yellow line, they keep opening [00:13:46] their heavy machine guns and artillery and tank [00:13:49] fire towards the western parts of [00:13:53] that area so... "this morning people were sleeping, although [00:13:57] they're not sleeping safely within uh partially [00:14:01] standing buildings uh [00:14:04] damaged by Israel's war and inside makeshift [00:14:08] tents, and they woke up this morning finding the [00:14:12] yellow blocks moved past them, and this means [00:14:16] you're a kill zone, so people panic, does family ja [00:14:20] far, just ran away with whatever they can, and sometimes some [00:14:23] people i've seen people." [00:14:24] 'who who left with nothing, because they know life is [00:14:28] more important than belongings, [00:14:30] jaffar. [00:14:34] right, ashraf, and I understand winter is only few months away, [00:14:38] so how can Palestinians, if at all prepare for the [00:14:42] harsh conditions [00:14:43] there? [00:14:49] well, every coming, every every everything is coming against the Palestinians in [00:14:53] Gaza, the weather'. "the some people say it's the [00:14:57] international conspiracy of silence when it comes to Palestinians and [00:15:01] now the international organization of migration IUM [00:15:04] says Israel is not allowing tens of thousands of tens and [00:15:07] shelter shelter supplies to enter Gaza, especially that [00:15:11] elninho is approaching and its [00:15:15] effects could could you know most likely will affect the [00:15:18] people of Gaza and we have more in the following [00:15:21] package. [00:15:26] Amil harazin is a word man with what could be very harsh [00:15:30] winter around the corner. He's deeply [00:15:33] concerned for his family who live a tent. [00:15:38] "I'm trying to secure my tent. I have newborn baby who is less than a [00:15:41] week old and three young children. Last year we suffered badly when [00:15:45] a storm hits, so I need to be prepared this [00:15:48] time. This year the conditions could be much worse [00:15:52] for the people in Gaza, already suffering due to Israel's devastating [00:15:56] war on the strip. For families living in fragile [00:16:00] shelters, even basic preparations may not be enough, or [00:16:04] damaged homes and obliterated infrastructure. leave many [00:16:08] displacement sites vulnerable to flooding as well as [00:16:11] collapse, we heard that very [00:16:15] powerful storm may be coming our way, it could destroy homes, let [00:16:19] alone tents, we put our trust in god, my tent is [00:16:23] so fragile that even a light storm could destroy it, [00:16:26] imagine what this storm could do, the storm he is [00:16:30] referring to is the elninu weather phenomena, [00:16:34] scientists are warning about its catastrophic effects, which could [00:16:38] settle firmly by December, and in Gaza, its [00:16:42] repercussions could make life even worse. According to the [00:16:45] International Organization for migration, IOM, around [00:16:49] 1.8 million people are living in displacement sites [00:16:53] across the wartorn territory. More than 80% [00:16:57] the tents and makeshift shelters are in poor [00:17:00] condition, while only 17% of winter shelter [00:17:04] needs have been met. dreading [00:17:08] the winter as well as the storm, the rain could flood our tents, [00:17:11] leaking in from above and sweeping in from [00:17:14] below. we have almost nothing to protect ourselves with. we [00:17:18] lie awake at night, worried about the rain and the strong [00:17:22] winds. there is no end to the suffering. with [00:17:26] little protection from the rain, families fear the destruction the [00:17:30] shelters and the exposure to the cold. as [00:17:34] palestinians prepare to face another harsh winter, the brace themselves [00:18:08] or its continued aggressive policies in our region, cuts [00:18:11] explicit that threats against individuals involved in sece fire and [00:18:15] peace negotiations are yet another manifestation the Israeli [00:18:19] government's disregard for international law. Turkey will continue [00:18:23] to defend the legitimate rights the Palestinian people, justice and [00:18:26] lasting peace. The Israeli government's threats, provocations and [00:18:30] ser campaigns will not deter our country from its [00:18:34] steadfast commitment to upholding what is right and just. [00:18:38] At least 13 people have been killed in aerial attack a gold mine in this in [00:18:42] Sudan near the Egyptian border, that's according to the Sudan doctors [00:18:46] network. It occurred in the very north of Sudan's river Niila estate. Egypt [00:18:50] has previously carried out attacks in this area accusing Sudanese minors of border [00:18:53] violations or smuggling. The neither Sudanese or Egyptian [00:18:57] officials have come commented on Saturday's incident [00:19:00] yet. [00:19:13] Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine have agreed to halt a strikes on each other's [00:19:17] energy infrastructure. Trump made the announcement on his truth social [00:19:20] platform without giving further details. It came two days after making a deal with the [00:19:24] Russian president Vladimir Putin to buy large quantities of [00:19:28] diesel. Earlier President Donald Trump had said it was [00:19:32] time for Ukraine to get new president to which Vlodimir Zelensky [00:19:36] replied it is up to [00:20:07] us on TRT World, what exactly is President Donald Trump trying to do? I mean, [00:20:11] President Zelinski did not have any idea about sease fire being announced [00:20:15] between his country, which is a state of war, which is under attacks [00:20:19] from Russia, yet President Trump announced [00:20:22] it. It's not the first time President Trump [00:20:26] has announced an agreement that other [00:20:30] parties that are a part of any [00:20:33] agreement are surprised, so we... We [00:20:37] shouldn't, none of us should be surprised that because this [00:20:41] is the way President Trump operates, however, [00:20:44] President Zelensky and the government of Ukraine, they model all this [00:20:48] out and... they knew that the [00:20:52] format that President Trump announced was likely the [00:20:56] format if anything could happen that the format was [00:21:00] going to be in, and so what President Trump, has done [00:21:04] is you say, okay, Russia has agreed to this, [00:21:08] now Ukraine needs to agree, however, we've [00:21:12] already had one report of a Russia [00:21:15] attack in Harquive, which is [00:21:19] city. near [00:21:20] the the Russian border with Ukraine, [00:21:24] so who who has and who has not [00:21:28] gotten the memo, but there is one known and that [00:21:32] is when President Trump announces these types of things, [00:21:36] there's always a part two, part three and [00:21:39] part four, and that's what's coming, which part do you think is [00:21:43] it? the parts have been, [00:21:46] somewhat floated out now, which is a... three [00:21:50] part, so it's a three section where President [00:21:54] Trump is reportedly prepared [00:21:57] to allow the Russian Federation to move [00:22:01] forward with the sale of assets of luke oil, one the largest [00:22:05] companies in the Russian Federation, which has assets throughout [00:22:09] Europe and the Middle East, and it's [00:22:12] supposedly a transaction that would involve the UAE, and [00:22:16] with some connectivity in some way to Jared. [00:22:21] and [00:22:22] Steve Woodkof, the negotiators. The second is with Belarus [00:22:25] and that has to do with Podash, which is a [00:22:28] fertilizer. The US has already lifted [00:22:32] sanctions on the export of Podash, but there's a problem for [00:22:35] Belarus, which is prior to [00:22:39] February 24th of 2022, when Russia invaded further into [00:22:43] Ukraine through Bielorus, about [00:22:46] 90% of that podash went through the port. [00:22:50] in Lithuania, Kaipada, so it's sort of [00:22:54] giving something [00:22:55] that they may not really be able to do, and then [00:22:58] the third is reportedly release of about hundre billion [00:23:02] dollars in frozen Russian assets that are [00:23:06] frozen in Europe. The challenge though, amongst [00:23:10] all of this is unless the US gets buying [00:23:13] from the European Union and from individual [00:23:17] countries, none of this happened. [00:23:21] Now John, let ask you something that I have been thinking about for the [00:23:25] past few hours, and here [00:23:27] it is, see, the US was supposed to protect [00:23:31] Ukraine, at least this is what what was promised to the [00:23:35] Ukrainians, we all know that, [00:23:37] but here's the deal today, sitting American president is coming out [00:23:40] and telling Zelinski, you know what, I don't like you anymore, you're not making a [00:23:44] deal, you are not giving your territory to Russia, [00:23:48] which is basically what... Russia demands, [00:23:52] so I I I don't know, what do you think this [00:23:55] means for America's reputation in the longer [00:23:58] run, and if Russia is able to get [00:24:02] Ukrainian territory, what kind of precedent does does it [00:24:06] set? Well, reverse and the [00:24:09] last first on the territory, right now the [00:24:13] the real estate issue is about 20% [00:24:17] of Dunetsk, which is... the Luhansk, [00:24:21] Olblast, Donets, brask, these are like like [00:24:24] provinces, and it makes up the Dunbas [00:24:27] and the Russian Federation has been saying, we want [00:24:31] that remaining 20% that we have not yet [00:24:34] taken. Ukraine is saying, we're not giving you something [00:24:38] that you haven't militarily taken. Uh, [00:24:41] one proposal that's been around for now, nearing three years, [00:24:45] is for Ukraine to move the border [00:24:49] of... to where the Russian [00:24:53] army is, and in that way President [00:24:57] Putin can claim [00:24:58] he has 100%, and Ukraine is retaining [00:25:02] its territory, but not giving anything the Russia has [00:25:05] taken, so you [00:25:07] there is a solution, the [00:25:10] challenge is you talked about, with with respect to [00:25:14] reputation in the US, president Trump is a [00:25:17] day-to-day guy, he's not necessarily. a [00:25:21] week to week guy, a month to month guy, year to year [00:25:24] guy, and so he's looking at the next two [00:25:28] years, 12 o'clock, january 20th, 2029, his [00:25:32] term finishes, between now and then [00:25:36] he believes he is the most powerful [00:25:39] individual on the planet, and that he can do what [00:25:43] he wants, and eventually people will come around to [00:25:47] doing what he wants, but even if they... don't do what he [00:25:51] wants, he will declare victory and move to [00:25:54] the next issue, and he has three [00:25:58] tools: tariffs, sanctions and visa [00:26:01] restrictions. that are his go to, it's sort of his go [00:26:05] bag, it's his doctors bag, he opens them up and he's going to throw [00:26:09] them out like doctor would throw out aspirin, and these [00:26:13] countries all know this, so you've got Russia and [00:26:16] Ukraine looking, okay, how do we get through the next two [00:26:20] years, and you have the European Union, [00:26:23] NATO, the United Nations, regional [00:26:27] actors, President Erdogan and Turkia, all trying to [00:26:30] figure out how... we get through the next two [00:26:34] years with this guy where the the mid-term [00:26:38] elections for our house and senate in our US congress or [00:26:42] November the 3rd, likely the the [00:26:45] Republican Party will lose the house, so the Democratic Party take [00:26:49] that, unsure the Senate, but President [00:26:53] Trump is going to get more angry, because then [00:26:57] in the U.S. political discourse, they start talking [00:27:00] about him as a lame duck, that's... going to infuriate him, so he's going to keep [00:27:04] doing more, more, and we're going to see things like this where he just makes [00:27:08] announcements and then he's going to coerse everybody to [00:27:12] go along. the $100 billion dollars, if that is [00:27:15] accurate number that he wants to give back to to [00:27:19] Russia, um, the're 320 billion, that's a third of it, [00:27:22] that money was seized to pay for [00:27:26] the damages that you that Russia has done to Ukraine, and now [00:27:30] President Trump is saying, "we want to give a third of it back to him, [00:27:34] so this is this is going to get increasingly [00:27:37] ugly, even if eventually there is some [00:27:41] sort of a ceasefire with respect to the military component the [00:27:45] war. fascinating insights, john Kavulish, it's always a pleasure [00:27:49] talking to you, thanks very much for joining us here on tier 2 world, thank you [00:27:53] sir. that's all for now, scoreline is coming up [00:27:56] next."
