Live flight [00:03:28] of in tracking data shows disruption to hundreds of flights around the capital. and in the eastern [00:03:31] province, despite the [00:03:33] of attacks, Saudi officials sought to project confidence as [00:03:38] of energy ministers and industry leaders gathered in [00:03:41] Riyadh for the 17th international energy forum [00:03:45] meeting. Saudi resilience [00:03:49] and foresite, I think by now [00:03:52] people take it as [00:03:55] of given. of of Saudi Arabia remained resilient, no one [00:03:59] of can shake our. determination to sustain our [00:04:02] a progress and fulfill our commitments. [00:04:05] security concerns remain high across the region [00:04:09] with turkey calling it clear violation of [00:04:13] international law, joining the condonation of its [00:04:17] partner in the mecca agreement. i [00:04:20] believe that what the huties are doing in this regard is extremely [00:04:23] of regrettable and no amount of condemnation is enough. Pakistan has [00:04:27] repeatedly time and again including today, said that this campaign the [00:04:31] hoothis are waging against the saudis has no [00:04:33] of justification of whatsoever. Saudi state media has now [00:04:37] reported that Iranian farm [00:04:40] of of minister of of Abbas Arakshi offered riyad [00:04:42] of assistance to facilitate talks with the hoothies. [00:05:02] of [00:05:05] it of is another sign that with diplomacy [00:05:08] stored, [00:05:10] of the guns are still doing the talking, but [00:05:16] And we'll be getting updates from our correspondents in the region. Ra [00:05:19] Hatami standing by in Tehran, but we're going to start in [00:05:23] Yemen's capital with Muhammad Al-Attab. Mohammed, what are [00:05:27] we hearing from Huty leaders about these continuous [00:05:30] attacks that we've seen on the main airport in Saudi [00:05:34] Arabia? [00:05:40] Yes, first the... reaction [00:05:44] by the what has been mentioned by the hoti's military [00:05:47] spokesperson yah says that they have um carried out [00:05:51] these attacks in retaliation to what [00:05:55] he described 124 air rates carried out [00:05:59] by by Saudi Arabia he mentioned that they have [00:06:03] attacked the king Khalid airports and also [00:06:07] the King Fahad airport in themam and also they have [00:06:10] targeted laboratory. [00:06:15] for Ramco company also they have targeted what he [00:06:18] mentioned the the gas station of Shackdam also he [00:06:22] mentioned also operations what according to his words [00:06:25] in in the in Yemen where they have [00:06:29] attacked what what they described Saudi enemy [00:06:32] mobilizations and [00:06:34] particularly [00:06:36] in alwaziah [00:06:37] which is area where the internationally recognized government is [00:06:41] trying to advance towards the Babel Mandab and they are trying [00:06:44] also to recapture these important and [00:06:47] strategic uh areas which are which could be described as the [00:06:51] gate towards Babel mandab. The Houthies mentioned that they [00:06:55] have targeted mobilizations towards these [00:06:59] areas. They are still in these areas there are different areas the are [00:07:03] that are still in the conflict between the internationally recognized government and the hoties [00:07:06] we are talking about the misrah and also which are [00:07:10] also the mountainous areas uh. overlooking the Babel but [00:07:14] also overlooking the the the main road supplies for the [00:07:18] both the hotis and also the internationally recognized government [00:07:21] we are talking about the continuation the air raids the according [00:07:24] to the military media outlets they mentioned that attacks have been [00:07:28] carried out by by Saudi [00:07:31] air air fighter jets that [00:07:34] targeted residential area in near the san international [00:07:38] airports and also they have mentioned also targeting [00:07:42] ro in tas which is known named as the zi [00:07:45] also targeting also areas in theher [00:07:49] the the internationally recognized government spokesperson [00:07:53] majd nuzeli mentioned that they have carried out nearly [00:07:56] 1900 operations according to the [00:08:00] his they are they have targeted command centers [00:08:03] depots ammunitions and also supply lines [00:08:07] uh so far with the continuation the the these [00:08:11] first clutch. and also the escalation by both sides, we are [00:08:15] witnessing a turning point, and dangerous turning point that [00:08:19] continue to harm and danger and put civilians [00:08:22] in danger. thank you so much for bringing us that update, mohammed [00:08:25] alatab there in sana. [00:08:29] we joined now by Raza Hatami in Tehran, and Razza, we're [00:08:33] hearing that Iran's foreign minister has been speaking to his Saudi counterpart [00:08:37] saying that Tehran is willing to facilitate any sort [00:08:41] of dialogue. between Riyad and Sannah, what more do we [00:08:45] know? [00:08:48] yes, yashnit, despite height and tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the [00:08:52] two countries continued diplomatic contact at the highest level. [00:08:56] Iran's foreign minister Abbas Arachchi had a phone conversation with his Saudi [00:09:00] counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, he said that the [00:09:04] war in Yemen, the situation between [00:09:07] Yemen and Saudi Arabia at the moment doesn't have a military [00:09:11] solution and Iranian top diplomat called for diplomatic [00:09:15] solution to end the war, to settle the [00:09:18] conflict between the two neighboring countries, adding that [00:09:22] Tehran is ready to facilitate talks, [00:09:25] facilitate negotiations between the warring parties. this [00:09:29] stance was reiterated in today's [00:09:33] weekly press conference by Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Ismail [00:09:37] Baqayi saying that Iran wants an end of war in the [00:09:41] Arabian pen. saying that this war only serves [00:09:45] Israely interests as two muslim countries are at [00:09:49] war, but Iran is also critical the Saudi blockade [00:09:53] of Yemen. Iran says that the Saudi blockade shouldn't have been [00:09:57] in place in the first place, and [00:10:00] also Iran says that the Saudi attack on [00:10:04] Sana airport in July of this year [00:10:07] escalated and accelerated this conflict. [00:10:11] Iran stands. is that for Yemeni waring parties [00:10:15] to return to a 2022 UN backed uh [00:10:19] road map for peace, Iran has said that [00:10:23] yemeny talks should take place and both [00:10:27] warring factions of Yemen should return to that [00:10:30] 2022 road map and and Iran supports that [00:10:34] top of that Iran also supports talks between Saudi Arabia [00:10:38] and Huties and of course when it comes to talks, Iran [00:10:41] is still trying to bring about some sort of deal between itself and the United [00:10:45] States as the war there continues, but we have heard from Iran's [00:10:49] security chief saying that Washington has accepted [00:10:53] seven conditions for deal to end the war, but he says that [00:10:57] is still not [00:10:58] enough. [00:11:02] Well, Iran says that the United States should accept all of its seven [00:11:06] demands, among them granting sanctions wavers for Iran's [00:11:09] oil and petrol chemical products, release of billions of [00:11:13] dollars in Iranian assets, a broad end of a [00:11:17] US naval blockade and end of Israel attacks on Lebanon are [00:11:21] among those five Iranian demands. Iran's top security chief mo he [00:11:25] said that the United States has accepted some these demands without [00:11:29] specifying which ones, but he also said that the United States has been [00:11:33] ambiguous about some others of Iranian demands [00:11:36] and he called on the United States to be transparent [00:11:40] about it stance on all of Iran's seven [00:11:44] demands. Iranian stance is that unless the United State, [00:11:48] the United States accepts all of Iranian demands, all [00:11:52] of Iranian preconditions, there will be No more [00:11:55] negotiations, again this stance was reiterated by Ismail [00:11:58] Baqayi, the Iranian foreign ministry [00:12:02] spokesperson at his monday's weekly press [00:12:05] conference. Iran also says that [00:12:07] it is in firm control the straight of Formus. Iranian [00:12:11] state media report that at least three vessels have [00:12:14] hit naval mines in the straight of Formus. Iranian [00:12:18] IRGC says that any ship that turns off its GPS, [00:12:22] turns off its navigation system will be as hostile [00:12:26] and could be attacked by Iran, so [00:12:29] Iranians are insisting that they are in [00:12:33] control the state of hormos and they are warning that if the United States attacks [00:12:37] Iran again, this time around the Iranian response will be [00:12:41] broader and wider. Okay, thank you so much, [00:12:45] Rezami there for us in Iran's capital, we [00:12:49] can get analysis on this now with Moham Guda, he is a middle east [00:12:52] analyst and a professor of Middle East [00:12:57] It's always good to speak to you on the news hour, [00:13:00] so firstly Iran's offer to mediate, to [00:13:04] facilitate talks between Saudi Arabia and the ansara [00:13:07] hutis, this really is quite something given the geopolitical [00:13:11] situation we see right now, and of course those extremely [00:13:15] tense relations between Iran and Saudi [00:13:18] Arabia, absolutely, [00:13:22] actually Iran is trying to send several message. "at the [00:13:25] same time, Iran is trying to seeing this as diplomatic [00:13:28] opportunity to show itself as the [00:13:32] entity that wants regional stability in the region, also it wants [00:13:36] to reduce pressure on itself, it wants to send also [00:13:39] some images and some messages to the US [00:13:43] voter, to the American voter that Iran is a peaceful country, Iran [00:13:47] wants more peace and wants to stop the war, and but still as you [00:13:51] mentioned there is definitely a credibility problem here when it comes to..." [00:13:55] 'Iran's relationship with Saudi Arabia, I think it will be very hard for Saudi [00:13:59] Arabia to accept this offer, at least explicitly, I think it will [00:14:03] be very hard for Saudi Arabia to take this offer for now, if [00:14:06] Riya does accept that offer, even if it is maybe not [00:14:10] publicly, does that play well then into Tehran's [00:14:14] call for its Gulf neighbors to solve problems [00:14:18] among each other rather than reaching out to foreign [00:14:22] powers to resolve issues in the region?' [00:14:26] Of course, but to be honest with you, at the same time I think [00:14:30] the Saudi leadership, I think it will be very hard for them to [00:14:34] accept this offer, because explicitly saying it, the image [00:14:38] of Saudi suddenly kneeling down and [00:14:42] and with this kind of attacks suddenly going and throwing itself to the hands of [00:14:46] Iran, I think this is an image that the Saudi leadership doesn't [00:14:49] want to do at least explicitly, but if we agree [00:14:53] that maybe it can happen and the curtains definitely this will be [00:14:57] something that will be working with [00:15:00] the with the Americans by all means so it will be under the control [00:15:04] the US, maybe in that case maybe there will be some [00:15:08] good news, maybe there will be some silver linings for the whole region at the end the [00:15:11] day, however I think the possibility is quite quite small to be [00:15:15] honest with you, but of course we have to wait and see, [00:15:19] but as far as and I will mention this quickly as far as [00:15:23] I have been noticing and and seeing the news about the [00:15:26] current conference the the energy in Saudi [00:15:30] Arabia, the messages is coming that Saudi is resilient, they are [00:15:33] willing to go to proceed with whatever they want to do, so I think the... which [00:15:37] is so far is against what Iran wants to [00:15:41] argue, when it comes to the fighting that's taking [00:15:45] place in Yemen itself, the Hithis, of course we know they are [00:15:48] supported by Iran, but Tehran's leaders have said they aren't telling [00:15:52] the Huti leadership what to do, but how big of [00:15:56] influence does Teran actually have on SNA at this [00:15:59] point and leverage when it comes to how the Hutis play this [00:16:03] out both diplomatically and militarily. [00:16:08] well to be honest [00:16:09] with you, it's also something that was much expected, mean [00:16:12] everybody was expecting that Iran will use its regional [00:16:16] cronies all over the region with its current [00:16:20] escalation between US, Iran and so on, so it they waited [00:16:24] for a long time the hoouties to start their [00:16:26] escalation and it's notic noticeable why they [00:16:30] waited so much time, because with the kind kind of weapons that they [00:16:33] have and the kind of missiles they have, this is definitely some [00:16:37] think that that that's shaking I think many their [00:16:41] ideas about what hot is are capable of, so this is why I [00:16:45] think Saudis and even the regional powers in the region, some them [00:16:49] were surprised by the abilities of hootis, Iran is trying to say that they [00:16:53] are not controlings, well this might be the case, but still it's the same [00:16:56] ideology, same dogma, same goals, so it doesn't have to be [00:17:00] a direct line, but they share almost the same same [00:17:04] goals, they have the same goals actually, so I don't think [00:17:08] they are, they are a very different situation [00:17:12] between themselves, you think they're working in Kohots at [00:17:14] least. Professor Good, it's always good to speak to you and get [00:17:18] your thoughts. Thanks so much for your time. My [00:17:22] pleasure, thank [00:17:23] you. [00:17:30] President Voladimir Zelensky says Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy [00:17:34] facilities despite a truce announced by the US president. Donald [00:17:38] Trump, Trump said Moscow and Keve had agreed to stop targeting each other's [00:17:42] energy infrastructure. He announced the deal on social media, [00:17:45] but didn't share any further details. It comes days after Trump struck [00:17:49] deal with the Russian president Vladimir Putin to buy large [00:17:53] quantities of [00:17:54] diesel. [00:18:01] Okay, these are live pictures that we're getting from Warsaw or rather from [00:18:05] Keeve, Poland with... "the Ukrainian president [00:18:09] is speaking and he's been talking about this [00:18:13] energy deal that Donald Trump had put out on social [00:18:16] media just on Sunday and Zelensky saying they are waiting [00:18:20] for details the conversation between the Americans and the [00:18:24] Russians saying that this energy cease fire can [00:18:28] work, but Zelensky has also said that Russia has [00:18:31] committed violations the energy ceasefire, that was just over the [00:18:35] weekend after President..." Trump announced it uh, [00:18:39] but the Ukraine's president says his country is ready to respect an [00:18:43] energy ceasefire, only if Russia does the [00:18:47] same, and says that if Russia wants Ukraine to stop the [00:18:51] attacks its refineries, it must also stop attacking [00:18:54] Ukraine's energy [00:18:56] infrastructure. Okay, [00:19:00] we'll get more on the story, now correspondent standing by Dasha [00:19:03] Chenashover is in Moscow, but we're going to start with Peter. [00:19:08] in Kieve and Peter, I've just been reading out some the latest comments [00:19:12] there that we are getting from President Zelensky quite similar [00:19:16] to what we heard from him earlier on, saying Ukraine [00:19:19] is willing to give this energy cease fire a go, but only if [00:19:23] Russia does the [00:19:24] same, [00:19:29] yeah, absolutely, this is this is nothing new, actually, this is actually been Zelensky's [00:19:33] position for some time now, the Ukrainians have prov [00:19:36] proposed. energy seasfire a number of [00:19:39] occasions in recent months, but now uh trump [00:19:43] with Trump increasing the pressure on Ukraine in recent [00:19:47] days regarding [00:19:48] their attacks on Russia's energy system, the issue of a [00:19:52] bilateral of a mutual seas far is again on the [00:19:55] agenda and Zelensky's been very very unambiguous [00:19:59] about this, he said openly yes we're ready to do this like immediately, we can begin [00:20:03] this cefire at this at this exact moment [00:20:07] but needs to be, it needs to be mutual, it needs to be bilateral. Ukraine [00:20:10] can't simply stop defending itself as they see it, [00:20:14] with these attacks on Russia's refineries, it needs to be mutual and Ukraine needs [00:20:18] to receive assurances from the Russian side that the Russian attacks on [00:20:22] Ukraine's civilian power system and civilian infrastructure [00:20:26] in general will will stop, and these attacks that we've seen in recent days also [00:20:30] on Ukraine's residential districts on the civilian [00:20:33] population. Thanks very much, Peter Dickinson there in [00:20:36] Ukraine's. capital to moscow, now we can speak to [00:20:40] Dasha, Dasha, we're getting plenty of reaction from the [00:20:44] Ukrainian leader, but has the criminan [00:20:46] sanything? [00:20:50] Well the Kremlin is yet to comment on this proposal by the US [00:20:54] president, but given the previous statements that we have been receiving from the [00:20:58] Russian officials, it's quite unlikely that Moscow would agree to any sort the [00:21:01] cease fire because they consider those cease fire es energy true or [00:21:05] the cease fire for the holding the elections in Ukraine as the band [00:21:09] eight solution which is going to give time to Ukraine uh in terms [00:21:13] of regrouping, rearming and remobilizing something that Moscow [00:21:17] says it cannot afford at this stage so... Russian side has [00:21:20] been saying that they remain open for the negotiations, even [00:21:24] in light the statements coming from Ukraine [00:21:28] following the diesel deal between Russia and the United States and also [00:21:32] been hearin in Moscow some the warnings that the European [00:21:36] countries that have all been quite openly against this diesel deal [00:21:40] uh they may be pushing Ukraine to commit provocations [00:21:43] um in this conflict so that the diesel deal between Russia and [00:21:47] the US is derailed but otherwise there are... lots of statements coming [00:21:51] from the Russian analytical community, they have been saying that [00:21:55] perhaps one the prerequisites for the energy [00:21:59] cease fire might have been Russia uh seeing some [00:22:02] easing the energy sanctions and that is actually [00:22:06] something that we are seeing now with the US uh actually [00:22:10] given the waver to purchase the Russian diesel [00:22:14] products and diesel and Russia vowing to remove the ban [00:22:18] on the expert its diesel products. earlier than planned as well, [00:22:22] so in that sense they say they choice may be different from the [00:22:25] Russian side these time, however we've seen before, the US [00:22:29] announcing that sease fire in terms the energy infrastructure, and [00:22:33] Moscow has not agreed to that, because obviously everyone understands that [00:22:37] Russia is heating the Ukrainian energy infrastructure and the winter [00:22:41] is coming, so Russia is saying that they are repairing their all [00:22:45] refineries, well there is more pressure put on Ukraine in terms [00:22:48] the Russian attacks. on the Ukrainian energy facilities. Thanks for bringing [00:22:52] us reaction there. Dusha [00:22:54] Chen shova in Moscow. Well, since 2022, [00:22:58] Ukraine has been targeting Russia's energy infrastructure to deprive [00:23:02] Moscow of resources to fund its military. It's long [00:23:06] range drone attacks on Russian oil refineries have intensified over [00:23:10] the past 18 months. Ukraine's strikes aim to disrupt one [00:23:14] of Russia's key sources of revenue its oil industry. [00:23:17] Now in June this year Russian. refinery output fell to [00:23:21] 3.8 million barrels per day its lowest level in [00:23:25] more than 20 years and around 30% below the same [00:23:29] period just year earlier. with 32 major [00:23:32] refineries and roughly 6.5 million barrels per day, [00:23:36] Russia has historically been the world's third largest producer of [00:23:40] refined oil products like gasoline, diesel and jet [00:23:43] fuel, but now with supplies under pressure, Moscow has moved to [00:23:47] restrict fuel exports in an effort to protect its [00:23:51] domestic market. In the first eight months of this year, [00:23:54] average, a Russian refinery has been hit once every [00:23:58] 3 days. These refineries closer to Ukraine have been [00:24:01] attacked repeatedly, but some reportedly struck as many as 15 [00:24:05] times since the start the war. Well, let's [00:24:09] get more on this now with economist Cornelia Mayor and energy [00:24:13] expert and the CEO of Mayor Resources. She's in [00:24:17] Burn, Switzerland. Thank you so much for. joining [00:24:20] us, so we've just been talking about [00:24:24] Russia, its oil supplies, diesel, since this war started, [00:24:28] it seems to have taken a really big hit, but in real world [00:24:32] market perspective, how much of an impact [00:24:35] has have the Ukrainian strikes had on Russia's [00:24:39] oil refineries? good morning and thank [00:24:43] you very much for having me, well it has had an [00:24:46] impact, maybe not as big as - [00:24:50] as as we thought, but it has had an impact, the world is really [00:24:54] running extremely low on diesel and that is [00:24:58] important because right now in the northern hemisphere we [00:25:02] are in the harvesting season and the and [00:25:06] diesel and and agricultural [00:25:09] equipment runs on diesel, so this [00:25:12] is countries are feeling this, especially in Europe [00:25:16] countries are feeling it about more than... [00:25:20] percent of diesel is imported from from [00:25:23] America, what we are lacking is [00:25:26] the the diesel from the efficient refineries on the [00:25:29] other side of hormous and also some the jet [00:25:33] fuel, gasoline, diesel from the Asian [00:25:36] efficient refineries who because the Iran war [00:25:40] do not get enough rude supplies to really refine [00:25:44] sufficient, so the world is really running [00:25:48] very, very low on diesel. [00:25:55] would that Russia would release more diesel for the United [00:25:58] States, how will that impact this [00:26:02] uh? "this problem that you've just outlined there for Europe and so much the [00:26:06] world, will things start to get better? [00:26:09] well, I think the deal is that Russia will export to [00:26:13] the US, but maybe also to other countries, and what happens [00:26:17] if is if there is more diesel in the US, [00:26:20] um, the obviously prices will come down, and that's important for Donald [00:26:24] Trump's mid-term elections, but also you know, [00:26:28] there there was the talk of a diesel export [00:26:31] ban'. from Russia [00:26:33] to, which would have been [00:26:37] very bad for Europe, which where I said, more than 50% [00:26:41] the diesel, about 420,000 barrels a day in [00:26:44] September are coming from from from the [00:26:48] U.S., and Latin America gets about 600 thous to [00:26:52] 700 thousand barrels a day, so [00:26:55] so any relief is is a good [00:26:59] thing, the issue is just, what will it do to? the [00:27:02] Russia Ukraine conflict and clearly um [00:27:06] clearly the uh the western governments are not very [00:27:10] keen on the steel, they were keen a [00:27:13] a cease [00:27:14] fire on an energy ceasefire, but that seems not to be [00:27:18] happening. If that cease fire though, and of course I am being [00:27:21] optimistic here, if that cease fire with regards to energy was to go [00:27:25] ahead, how quickly can Russia get back to its [00:27:29] refining capacity where we could see levels? that they had [00:27:33] before the war started, it will take [00:27:36] time be, they will get there, but it will take time, [00:27:40] because you still have sanctions and some things cannot be [00:27:43] imported, so you know some things it takes to restore the [00:27:47] refineries cannot be importted, so it will take more time, [00:27:51] but they'll certainly work on it as hard as they can. [00:27:55] cornelia mayor, really good to get your take, thanks so much for speaking to [00:27:58] us, thank you very much indeed, it's time [00:28:02] now. see what's happening in the world of business. Taibe Iden, we [00:28:06] were just talking gas and oil, that's of course leading your bulletin as [00:28:10] well. That's right, oil prices are now easing following that diesel [00:28:13] deal that Trump announced, which you've been covering, which has helped uh [00:28:17] alleviate some supply concerns. Let's take closer [00:28:20] look. [00:28:28] Oil prices fell on Monday as expectations of additional Russian diesel. [00:28:32] supplies east concerns about global fuel shortages, but renewed [00:28:36] attacks in the Middle East continue to threaten energy supplies and to keep [00:28:40] investors cautious. International Benchmark Brent fell towards [00:28:44] $104 a barrel after two-day rally, as US [00:28:47] president Donald Trump said his administration had reached an agreement [00:28:51] for Russia to provide hundreds of thousands of tons of diesel fuel. He [00:28:55] also claimed Russia and Ukraine had agreed to immediate ceasefire [00:28:59] attacks against energy infrastructure, the details remain [00:29:03] unclear. On Sunday, Saudi Arabia's main airport was targeted [00:29:07] again while another tanker was attacked in the street of Ramus, [00:29:11] although crude exports from the Persian gulf continue to flow at [00:29:15] rates close to pre-war levels. That also weighed on stock [00:29:19] markets across Asia with South Korea's cost beat plunging more than 3 and a [00:29:22] half percent. Meanwhile, the US dollar held near its strongest [00:29:26] level a year and a half as escalating Middle East [00:29:30] conflict kept investors worry. head of key US [00:29:33] inflation data later this week that could influence monetary [00:29:37] policy. Francesco Sassi is a professor of energy politics [00:29:41] at the University of Oslo. He says Russian diesel could provide some [00:29:45] relief to global markets, but much will depend on whether Moscow [00:29:49] can export it without further [00:29:51] restrictions. Let me say that [00:29:55] Russia anticipated dedicting the embargo [00:29:58] on fuel export because the agreement. [00:30:02] with us, so I think and it's [00:30:06] logible to expect that Russia demanded guarantees [00:30:10] and safety guarantees from the US in order to be able to [00:30:13] export this pisal fuel not just to the [00:30:17] US but to the global markets, this is what Donald [00:30:21] Trump has asserted, and at the same time you had [00:30:24] seeking sanctions or [00:30:27] Russian refined products import [00:30:31] next April, so... "we are speaking about thick [00:30:34] month window that could really shift [00:30:38] the related between r and rus the war in [00:30:42] ukraine and the very [00:30:45] lightly possibility that ukraine continue to stripe [00:30:49] against russian energy infrastructure because the [00:30:52] sensitivity for the [00:30:56] russian war chast [00:30:59] during you but also because it global. [00:31:02] oil prices are will continue to stay very high [00:31:06] because of war around the straight of am moves [00:31:10] between the US and Iran and there is incentive [00:31:14] for. Ukraine to continue these strikes also because [00:31:17] Russia has not stopped striking against the [00:31:21] Ukrainian energy [00:31:23] infrastructure. Now a quick look at some other [00:31:27] stories we're following around the world. Global wheat prices fell for [00:31:31] fourth straight day after US president Donald Trump said Russia and Ukraine had [00:31:34] agreed to immediate energy cease fire. The move raised hopes that black [00:31:38] sea shipping disruptions could ease helping grain supplies [00:31:42] flow more freely. Ukrainian president. Vladimir Zelensky says [00:31:46] Kief supports the truth, though traders are still waiting for [00:31:49] confirmation from Moscow. The [00:31:53] IMF says strong spending on AI infrastructure is helping keep [00:31:57] global growth at around 3%. Asian economies that [00:32:00] supply chips and other technology are seeing some the biggest [00:32:04] gains, but the fund warns AI could also reshape around [00:32:08] 40% of jobs over time. It says governments will [00:32:12] need to manage the shift carefully so... [00:32:15] the benefits of AI are shared more [00:32:17] widely, and Elon Musk says [00:32:20] Starlink will be priced affordably in India as it prepares to compete [00:32:24] with Billionaire Mike Shambani's low-cost reliance [00:32:28] Goo. His comments come just stays before Jio's [00:32:32] parent company launches India's largest ever IPO, [00:32:35] targeting valuation of $106 billion dollars. [00:32:39] Musk has accused the Indian government of delaying Starling's entry to [00:32:43] favor reliance. New Delhi [00:32:46] tonight those updates to some other [00:32:50] news now and Israeli forces have launched a drone attack on [00:32:53] refugee camp in the south of Gaza killing two [00:32:57] Palestinians. Paramedics say several people were wounded [00:33:00] which is in the attack which struck the area near the city of [00:33:04] Raffa. Thousands of Palestinians displaced by Israel's assault [00:33:08] on the enclave have been forced to live in tents in [00:33:10] almawasi. Israel's military. [00:33:15] has been continuing to expand its so-called yellow line in the east of Gaza [00:33:18] City, the line divides the enclave into two zones, an eastern [00:33:22] area under Israeli military oversight and a western area where [00:33:26] Palestinians can move with fewer restrictions. Military vehicles [00:33:30] advanced beyond their existing positions in the shujaya neighborhood [00:33:33] under cover of heavy gunfire and shelling. The UN says nearly [00:33:37] two-thirds the strip is inaccessible to Palestinians or [00:33:41] subject to severe restrictions. [00:33:47] and israely and Israeli [00:33:51] settlers have stormed the acsamos compound in occupied east [00:33:55] Jerusalem, they enter the courtyard of al-Aqsa and performed prayers [00:33:58] and rituals in front the dome the rock mosque. The compound [00:34:02] and its surrounding areas are holy sites to Muslims and there have been increasing [00:34:06] incursions by illegal settlers and far right activists in recent [00:34:10] weeks. [00:34:15] Palestinian farmers in the occupied west bank are vowing to defend their [00:34:18] land from illegal Israeli settlers who stole half their harvest [00:34:22] and some farming equipment on Sunday. The farmers in Aina [00:34:26] Brut tried to harvest their olives but only managed to fill 15 [00:34:29] bags before being pushed back by Israeli forces who fired [00:34:33] stun grenades. Muhammad Alwan has the [00:34:35] story. It's their land, their [00:34:39] farms and their olives. Yet the Palestinian farmers [00:34:43] face a brutal battle. every autumn to access [00:34:46] them under the shadow of Israeli guns and illegal [00:34:50] occupation. Together, the residence of Anya Brude village in [00:34:54] the occupied West bank set out on Sunday to harvest their olive [00:34:57] trees, keeping alive a tradition known as [00:35:01] Alona, where people help each other pick [00:35:04] the crop. Another reason for this unity is to protect their [00:35:08] land from illegal Israeli settlers who have taken [00:35:11] over large areas. Israel has declared the area a military [00:35:15] zone, preventing Palestinians from accessing their own [00:35:18] land, for this land owner, even trying to access [00:35:22] his property could lead to arrest, [00:35:25] he has chosen not to show his face feeling [00:35:28] detention. We have come to harvest [00:35:32] our own olives, these are our village trees inherited from our fathers [00:35:36] and grandfathers. Thank God, our spirits are high because we are [00:35:40] standing on our own land, we are not here [00:35:42] to steal or harm anyone, they are the ones coming. stealing our [00:35:47] to harvest. us residents had been on their land for just an hour when illegal settlers [00:35:51] attacked. minutes later Israeli forces arrived. the [00:35:55] head the village council could only watch as residents were forced [00:35:58] to leave for their own safety. illegal [00:36:02] settlers ramped the village council's vehicle forcing it [00:36:06] off the road, attacked residents and tried to run people [00:36:10] over. they [00:36:11] then trave stones at olive pickers from higher ground. [00:36:15] Israeli forces fired stunt grenades at the [00:36:18] Palestinians, illegal settlers were seen catting away [00:36:22] the stolen olive harvest and heading towards the top the [00:36:26] mountain, they had previous taken over. The [00:36:29] Palestinians have been forced to leave, but they remained determined to [00:36:33] return and harvest their olives. What happened here reflects a [00:36:37] wider pattern across the occupied West Bank, where illegal settler violence [00:36:41] continues escalate. Across the occupied West [00:36:44] Bank, more than 10 attacks are reported daily with illegal [00:36:48] settler stealing olive harvests in front their owners and [00:36:52] using equipment to speed up the process. According [00:36:56] to the agriculture. ministry, losses to palestinian's olive [00:37:00] sector have exceeded $157 [00:37:03] million since 2023, with around [00:37:07] 286, olive trees damaged in the [00:37:11] west bank, the ministry fears these losses to rise [00:37:14] as the harvest continues, [00:37:18] muhammad world, ramallah, the occupied west bank [00:37:21] economic devastation and [00:37:25] continued israely attacks have. many residents displaced [00:37:29] from southern Lebanon, that's despite a supposed truth between the two [00:37:33] countries, but in one village residents are taking matters into their [00:37:36] own hands, setting up a market to help local vendors and [00:37:40] revive the spirit the community. Priyanka Navani reports [00:37:44] in southern [00:37:48] Lebanon, war, destruction and losses of monumental [00:37:52] proportion have given people every reason to live in [00:37:55] agony, but at this newly inaugural. Saturday market in the [00:37:58] southern village of karsir, agony is opposite to the [00:38:02] spirit [00:38:03] in the air. Instead, people have come from near and far to enjoy [00:38:06] fresh food and other local products. Today I [00:38:10] came to support my hometown in my region, we want to contribute to the [00:38:14] success of this beautiful market. Initiatives like these give us [00:38:18] hope and optimism, especially given the current [00:38:21] circumstances. The initiative, which brings together dozens of vendors from [00:38:25] across the region, is only in its second. in week, but already [00:38:29] authorities say it's having massive success. we make this [00:38:32] market and we [00:38:36] hear from people, it's very [00:38:39] good idea and [00:38:42] excellent markets for all the people and for [00:38:46] first and for the area. markets used to be [00:38:49] common in the south, but the war has made large swaths the area a [00:38:53] nogo zone. they're also especially helpful because so many... [00:38:57] traditional stores are still closed, the reason the market is [00:39:01] here because the surrounding town is insecure so the [00:39:05] people cannot go over there plus the expenses of [00:39:09] gas prices and so on, so we felt this an opportunity for [00:39:13] the tow and in the different town, the surrounding town to come and display [00:39:16] their product, people save money and uh [00:39:20] basically bring some happiness, you know, bring the [00:39:23] life again to the town, 85-year old... [00:39:27] Hussain who hails from a now Israeli occupied border [00:39:30] village, says it's the first profit he's turned in [00:39:34] months, thank god I used to live very [00:39:37] comfortably, but now we've gone back to zero, completely [00:39:41] zero, at my age, 85 years old, I'm exhausted, I have [00:39:45] to go out, work and sell things like this, I'm sorry, but I have [00:39:49] no choice, what else can I do, and most say it's [00:39:52] not just about money, but perseverance, clearly something that [00:39:56] in. is passed down through [00:39:59] generations. I'm 14 years old. I saw [00:40:03] carrots, faba bins, corn on the car. I'm a son of this [00:40:06] village, because this is village that has been through lot. My father [00:40:10] stayed here and I'm staying here too. The joy being experienced at [00:40:14] this market doesn't negate the continued harsh realities of [00:40:17] people here. Some 170 homes in [00:40:21] Kafodicier have been bombed, and this village hosts [00:40:25] some 100 families who have not yet. been able to return to their [00:40:28] own villages, still people are [00:40:31] resilient and are determined to continue building their [00:40:35] lives back through initiatives just like this one. Priyanka [00:40:39] Novani, TRT World. Southern [00:40:41] Lebanon. [00:40:49] A state of emergency was declared in parts of Pakistan on [00:40:52] Sunday, as thousands continue to protest in support of [00:40:56] jailed form Prime Minister Imran Khan demonstrators [00:41:00] took to the streets in Kaiba Pactungua, northwestern province [00:41:04] governed by Imran Khan's PTI party. The government's [00:41:08] decision to impose a state of emergency brings the province [00:41:11] under direct federal control. Prime Minister Shebbaz Shariff [00:41:15] accused the local PTI government of failing to maintain law [00:41:19] and order. Let's get an update now from Kamran Yusuf joining us from [00:41:23] Islamabad. So Kamran from the demonstrations people. there [00:41:27] are clearly angry about this move, just bring us up to speed with what's [00:41:31] happening at the moment, well [00:41:35] indeed [00:41:35] of course Pakistan tariq insaf a party of former prime minister Imran [00:41:39] Khan is currently in jail, they are angry, they have [00:41:43] termed it a black day when the federal government imposed [00:41:46] emergency and governor's rule, but on the [00:41:50] ground, situation in Islamabad very much [00:41:53] normal, you may see just behind a shipping containers [00:41:57] blocking one the roads leading to the key government [00:42:01] installations, but these containers have been placed for the last couple of [00:42:05] weeks in anticipation of opposition's protest, but [00:42:08] now we are getting... reports that authorities have decided to [00:42:12] remove all these containers and other security measures, [00:42:16] this means that authorities no longer [00:42:19] anticipate or expect that protests may [00:42:22] reach Islamabad. the reason is after the imposition [00:42:26] of emergency and governor's rule, authorities have [00:42:30] detained hundreds of PTI activists leaders [00:42:34] including now the suspended chief minister the [00:42:38] province who according to the P is under protective [00:42:41] custody in Pishawar, the provincial capital, there [00:42:45] are reports that there is less than usual traffic, [00:42:49] schools, both the government and the private are currently [00:42:53] shut, and this morning the newly appointed [00:42:56] council led by the governor presided over a meeting [00:43:00] to decide how to move forward, so a political [00:43:04] temperature may be high, but as far as the situation on the ground [00:43:08] in the capital is concerned that is pretty much normal, when it comes to [00:43:12] that political temperature, the federal government has now effectively taken [00:43:16] over that province, what difference are they hoping it's [00:43:19] going to make, and if you can just remind our viewers why they [00:43:23] think they now need to take over to improve conditions [00:43:26] there, well think it is worth [00:43:30] noting that khibar pakhtun province bordering [00:43:34] afghanistan is facing serious security [00:43:37] challenge, there has been surge in the number of terrorist attacks [00:43:41] in that province and according to the [00:43:45] federal government, the provincial government led by the [00:43:48] opposition Pakistan Tahike Insaf was not cooperating with the [00:43:52] federal government in terms of dealing with the threat, the [00:43:56] PTI had a position that they believe that since [00:44:00] the province has undergone serious security challenges over [00:44:04] the past many years, so they do not support large scale [00:44:07] counter terrorism operation and they... not agree with the [00:44:11] central's policy how to deal with the problem [00:44:13] and that according to the center is major hurdle and that is [00:44:17] why they felt that it was important that the federal government [00:44:20] directly now control the provincial matters, but there is a political [00:44:24] context too, it is also seen in the context the long [00:44:28] running confrontation between the fatal government as well as with the party [00:44:32] of former prime minister Imran Khan because they were planning to [00:44:36] march towards the capital Islamabad to seek the release their [00:44:40] leader, so some political experts believe that this move by the federal [00:44:44] government was also aimed at to scuttle that move by the [00:44:47] PTI. let's see how that all plays out. thanks for bringing [00:44:51] us the latest there. camran from Pakistan's capital, [00:44:55] Islamabad. to India now, where opposition parties [00:44:59] are about to come together to march on the Supreme Court in [00:45:02] support the youth lead cockroach junta movement. they're [00:45:06] calling for the resignation the election commission chief. Over the [00:45:10] removal of 130 million voters from the voters [00:45:14] roll, the cockroach movement is also gathering in the center the [00:45:18] capital, New Delhi, where roads have again been blocked by security [00:45:22] forces and metro stations closed. The weekend saw [00:45:26] hundreds of people arrested ahead the scheduled march. [00:45:29] Senior opposition leader Rahul Gandhi questioned the measures being [00:45:33] taken by the [00:45:34] government.
