Saudi [00:04:12] resilience [00:04:14] of and forsite. I think by now [00:04:17] people take it as given. Saudi [00:04:21] Arabia remained resilient. No one can [00:04:24] of shake our determination to [00:04:26] of sustain our progress and fulfill our commitment. [00:04:30] Security concerns remain high across the region [00:04:34] with Turkia calling it clear violation of [00:04:38] international law, joining the condemnation of its [00:04:41] partner in the Mecca agreement. I [00:04:45] believe that what the Hufis are doing in this regard is extremely regrettable and no [00:04:49] amount of condemnation is enough. Pakistan has repeatedly time and [00:04:53] again including today said that this campaign the Huthis are waging against the [00:04:57] Saudis has no justification [00:04:59] of whatsoever. of Saudi state media has now reported that Iranian [00:05:03] farm minister Abbas Arakshi offered Riad [00:05:06] assistance to facilitate talks with the [00:05:09] in Hithies. [00:05:47] what have we heard from the hoothies about this latest [00:05:49] attack? [00:05:51] hello, [00:05:56] regarding the what you have, we have we have heard from the his regarding the [00:06:00] latest attacks on Saudi Arabia, some of some the some the [00:06:04] hotis that are not officials, we are talking about the social [00:06:07] media, the they mentioned that the the they would like [00:06:11] the saudis to test. but the yemanies have who are under the control [00:06:15] the hies have been going through all the 10 years or 12 [00:06:19] years for the continuation the war the war and the conflict [00:06:22] the some them showed that the some the saudi [00:06:26] passengers have have been have been [00:06:30] didn't have any option but to to ride on buses [00:06:34] and also tracks in order to go back to the Saudi [00:06:38] Arabia from neighboring countries so we are talk about the [00:06:42] the the the the the houthis officials especially [00:06:45] the we are talking about the the the houthies leader who mentioned [00:06:48] the the the during his recent speech that [00:06:52] the the the are adiment to continue their [00:06:55] escalation and we are witnessing this escalation has be has [00:06:59] started to reach the saudi airports [00:07:02] and maybe we could reach this [00:07:06] Saudi seaports because the the the [00:07:10] the [00:07:10] the the houthies leader here. to continue his [00:07:14] escalation, he mentioned that the they are [00:07:18] not going to be detered as especially that the he he he [00:07:22] believes that they are they are having a just cause they are calling for Saudi [00:07:25] Arabia left its blockade and to allow yemanies to uh [00:07:29] to to to return back to the negotiation table to resolve their differences [00:07:33] peacefully uh the he mentions that this is just [00:07:37] calls [00:07:38] on the the international community should stand with them according to his words while [00:07:42] the... the official said that the the energy security [00:07:45] is something couldn't be taken for granted and that we will [00:07:49] stand firm and they will response fairly against the his [00:07:53] attacks on the saudi infrastructure. [00:07:57] mhammed, you're in Yemen, you're in Sana, what's the latest on the [00:08:00] retaliatory attacks on the ground [00:08:02] there? [00:08:09] so we are, what [00:08:11] the the recent? bts on the ground, each [00:08:15] party continues to claim that they have recaptured the uh one [00:08:19] position and later later on the the other [00:08:22] party claims that they're capturing [00:08:26] this position, we are talking maybe about in [00:08:29] just the past 24 hours, the his claimed [00:08:33] their responsibility recently while the international recognized government [00:08:37] claimed this responsibility of recapturing it [00:08:41] just 20. hours ago [00:08:43] so we are having a speedy and fast [00:08:46] moving developmentts on the ground, the the [00:08:50] both side, both parties are stretching from their areas of [00:08:53] control towards babel mandab, nobody has left the the babel [00:08:57] mandab and the internationally recognized government has [00:09:01] mentioned that they are still fighting some pockets [00:09:04] of fighters in the babil mandab and [00:09:08] they mentioned also they have foiled earlier [00:09:11] the... advancing attemps toward the airport [00:09:15] of web which is have been [00:09:18] taken by the international recognized government [00:09:21] so far also we are talking about the the the the houties military [00:09:25] spokes person he mentioned that the have also foiled attempt [00:09:29] by the by by the international organized government to advance [00:09:32] towards the waziah which is the which is the gate [00:09:36] the babil mandab so also the the [00:09:40] international recognized government person mentioned that they have carried out [00:09:44] nearly 1,900 military operations that have [00:09:48] neutralized hundreds of hies according to his words. okay, [00:09:52] thank you so much for the update, mohammed alatab in Santana for us. [00:09:56] let's bring in Raza Hattami now who's in Tehran [00:10:00] for us. reza, what further details do you have about Iran's [00:10:04] office to facilitate these talks between Saudi Arabia and [00:10:08] the [00:10:08] Hutis? [00:10:12] well. Despite height and tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, we are seeing that the [00:10:16] two countries are talking at the highest levels. Iran's top [00:10:20] diplomat Abbas Araqchi had a phone conversation with the Saudi canterpart Faisal [00:10:24] bin Farhan. He said that, according to Iran's point of [00:10:27] view, the situation in Yemen and in Saudi [00:10:30] Arabia have has no [00:10:34] military solution, and disregard for [00:10:37] political solutions will only complicate this [00:10:41] situation, and we know that Iran has great influence over the [00:10:44] hoothis in Yemen, and Iran's foreign minister Abbas Sarahchi [00:10:48] said that he is ready to, his country is ready to [00:10:52] facilitate talks between, Saudi [00:10:55] Arabia and Yemen's hoothis and we know that Iran's [00:10:59] longstanding position regarding the situation in Yemen [00:11:02] and warring factions in Yemen is that [00:11:06] the warring factions in Yemen should adhere to a [00:11:09] 2022 UN backed road map for [00:11:13] peace, they should initiate Yemeni Yemeny [00:11:16] dialogue and Iran says that top of that Yemen Yemeny [00:11:19] dialogue it is ready to facilitate Saudi [00:11:23] um and Houti. dialogue as well, [00:11:27] and today this stance on Monday [00:11:31] was reiterated by Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Ismail [00:11:35] Baqayi who said that only, I mean the fighting [00:11:38] between Yemen, yemen Suthies and Saudi Arabia [00:11:42] only serves Israely interests in the [00:11:45] region, adding that two Muslim countries should not [00:11:49] be at war, this is only to the benefit of Israel. Iran [00:11:52] is also criticizing Arabia for imposing a [00:11:56] blockade on Yemen's hoothies [00:12:00] as well as a July Saudi Ara strike on Sana [00:12:04] airport that according to Iran and from Iran's point of view [00:12:07] accelerate the tensions that have now spilled [00:12:11] into war. Reza moving to the [00:12:15] Iran-US war now the tuwing and frowing between the two [00:12:18] countries continues. Where are we at from diplomatic [00:12:21] standpoint? [00:12:26] Well, on Sunday, Iran's top security chief, the secretary of Iran [00:12:30] supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rizay said that Iran has received the [00:12:34] USA's response to Tehran's seven seven [00:12:38] point proposal, [00:12:41] and he said, he said that the US [00:12:45] respon response is not adequate and is [00:12:49] insufficient, he said that the United States has accepted some of Iran's [00:12:53] seven demands without specifying. which ones exactly? we know that [00:12:56] Iran has demanded sanctions relief for its oil and [00:13:00] petrochemical products, Iran has demanded a release of [00:13:04] billions of dollars in its frozen assets abroad. Tehran has called for an [00:13:08] end to US naval blockade on Iran and Iranian [00:13:12] ports and also Tehran has called for indev Israely attacks on Lebanon. [00:13:15] Tehran wants all these conditions plus few [00:13:18] more to be met by Washington before it reopens the straight of [00:13:22] hormos. Tehran says if these conditions are. not met all [00:13:25] them by the United States, then Tehran uh is [00:13:29] not ready to continue the negotiations, so at the [00:13:32] moment, Iran [00:13:34] is still weighing the US's response, it has [00:13:38] not given its response via [00:13:41] mediators to the United States, as of yet, again [00:13:44] todayt is weekly press conference said that Iran is still [00:13:48] weighing the US's proposal, but the straight of hormos is not going to be reopened [00:13:52] unless all these Iranian conditions are met. Certainly a dynamic [00:13:56] time. Thanks so much for the update. Reza Hatami in Tehran. Let's [00:14:00] bring in Hannah Porter now, who is a Yemen research specialist and [00:14:03] author. She joins us live from London. Hannah, thanks so much for joining us [00:14:07] on the program. As we heard from our correspondent, it's certainly a [00:14:11] turbulent time in the region. Let's start with the Iran [00:14:14] war. How is that conflict complicating efforts to [00:14:18] resolve the hostilities between the Saudis and the [00:14:21] Houties? Well, certainly that is influencing. [00:14:25] Hothi decision making, we've seen of course the hoothies uh [00:14:29] threatening maritime attacks uh on the Red Sea, and then at [00:14:32] least with their temporary hold on Babed Mendeb, which now appears to be [00:14:36] jeopardized, that threat was increased, [00:14:40] and so when you have the Straight of Hormus closed and then threats [00:14:44] to further restrict maritime traffic in the Red Sea and through [00:14:48] Babel Mendeb, then that has a global impact uh on [00:14:51] the economy and um on trade, so I think that the [00:14:55] Hutis are certainly primarily informed by events [00:14:59] on the ground in Yemen and territorial shifts and of course [00:15:03] their war with Saudi Arabia and they are primarily framing this as a [00:15:07] war with Saudi Arabia rather than a civil war within Yemen, [00:15:11] but certainly uh the US [00:15:12] war on Iran is is informing their choices and they're [00:15:16] building that into their strategy. What does Iran stand to [00:15:20] gain given the conflict with the US by offering to [00:15:23] facilitate or mediate? between Saudi Arabia and [00:15:27] the and the Hutis, so I think [00:15:31] that the Hithies and probably Iran is well see that the Houties are a [00:15:35] very strong negotiating position right now and... and I believe this is why [00:15:38] we see the Huthis escalating at this point over the summer and up [00:15:42] until now the Huthies have noted that uh Saudi [00:15:46] Arabia's allies and partners in the region are somewhat [00:15:50] reluctant to intervene on Saudi Arabia's behalf so the Huthies [00:15:53] see that they can attack Saudi airports and maritime interests and [00:15:57] oil interests and they believe that they will still be able to [00:16:01] control the territory that they control across Yemen and possibly even make [00:16:05] gains as we have seen as governor it and along the red sea [00:16:09] coast, so the huties believe that this is the time to make demands, and of [00:16:13] course their demands are a lifting the blockade, the saudi enforce blockade on [00:16:17] northern Yemen, and also a degree of legitimization. [00:16:21] At the same time, the Huthies are able to really apply [00:16:25] pressure not only to Saudi Arabia, but the international community [00:16:28] and intentionally uh influence the US to [00:16:32] lift uh and resolve the war with Iran [00:16:35] and and stop attacks there. well, how likely is it that [00:16:39] Riyad will accept this offer from Iran to to mediate [00:16:43] given their longstanding sort of struggles, the dominance in the [00:16:46] region? Saudi Arabia is a very [00:16:50] difficult position right now, I don't think they're going to be willing at [00:16:54] the moment to re-enter into negotiations with the Houties, they will [00:16:58] probably understandably feel the need to retaliate due to the [00:17:02] numerous deadly attacks by the Houties on Saudi [00:17:05] airports, but at the same time in the long-term, there really [00:17:09] isn't going to be a military solution to the problem the huties [00:17:13] and Yemen's war more broadly, so there will need to be [00:17:16] return to diplomacy to some extent, and I think from the [00:17:20] Huthi perspective, what they want to ensure is that they're an advantageous [00:17:24] position in the lead-up to potential talks, whenever those may be, and from [00:17:28] the Saudi perspective, they will only re-enter talks when they [00:17:31] feel like they can save face, and that it doesn't appear that they are [00:17:35] just doing it under immense. uh pressure from these hoothy [00:17:39] attacks. Hannah, really appreciate your insights. Hannah Porter, a Yemen [00:17:43] research specialist and author joining us from London. Thank you. [00:17:47] Thank you. Let's go to our correspondent John Brain in [00:17:50] Washington. Now, John, certainly plenty to talk about [00:17:53] today. Let's start with what's happening with Trump [00:17:57] and him intervening or not in this conflict with the [00:18:01] hoothies. He did say on Sunday that he was weighing up [00:18:05] his options. What can you tell us about his latest? [00:18:13] Well he's in very difficult position really, he's already turned down [00:18:16] two requests from the Saudis for military [00:18:20] assistance, direct military assistance against the Hujis, [00:18:24] uh Donald Trump has turned them down on both [00:18:27] occasions uh and they're trying a third time, and of course [00:18:31] Saudi Arabia has always assumed that America has got [00:18:35] its back so to speak, so... very difficult for the [00:18:38] US to - not go to the Saudi's [00:18:41] assistance, at the moment they're limiting that assistance to [00:18:45] intelligence gathering, for example uh, [00:18:49] but Riyad wants direct military help from [00:18:53] the Americans, the problem for Donald Trump is that the US [00:18:56] attacked the hooties last year, carried out sustained [00:19:00] bombing campaign against thehooties - huge [00:19:04] expense uh, but it didn't really have the desire to... and [00:19:08] Trump is unwilling to get engaged again, [00:19:11] more importantly because the mid-term elections are [00:19:15] now very close indeed. Iran has [00:19:18] already hugely damaged the Republicans chances in [00:19:22] those elections and Trump knows that opening up second [00:19:26] front against the hooties uh would damage those [00:19:30] chances even further so he's very mindful [00:19:34] the fact that this country is going to the polls on November. the [00:19:37] third for those congressional elections and that is [00:19:41] probably the biggest factor at the moment in staying his [00:19:45] hands. yes, John, let's let's turn to those mid-terms now, [00:19:49] which are just around the corner, and Trump's latest attempt to [00:19:53] bring oil prices down. what can you tell us about this supposed [00:19:56] energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which was [00:20:00] announced at [00:20:01] the [00:20:06] weekend? well, I think it's come to a... surprise for as a surprise to [00:20:10] most people uh, not least of course the Ukrainians [00:20:13] themselves who only learned about it through social media, [00:20:17] through me the media, presumably the Russians learned about it that [00:20:21] way as well, it feels like very typical [00:20:25] Trump move almost off the top of his head, something that he's [00:20:29] desires rather than something that has actually been [00:20:32] agreed, again though uh, as we've been saying it's all to do with the [00:20:36] mid-term elections, fuel prices are the [00:20:40] biggest drag on the Republican's prospects in the [00:20:44] elections. Trump is desperate to bring those prices down [00:20:48] before the Americans. go to the polls, so he's got this [00:20:52] deal with the Russians to import [00:20:55] 300 million tons of fuel in the first instance [00:20:59] of diesel. most analysts here say that's barely going to [00:21:03] scratch the surface, it's - hardly a [00:21:06] day's usage for most americ for the [00:21:09] Americans as a whole, and of course it's [00:21:13] - really up-ended the uh negotiations about [00:21:17] ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, it's really... really uh put [00:21:21] the balance far in the Russian [00:21:25] side, but then Trump has never really supported president [00:21:28] Zelensky, he's of course calling for new leader for the [00:21:32] Ukraine Ukrainians, this goes back to his first term when [00:21:36] it was his telephone call with Zelensky which led to his first [00:21:39] impeachment uh, so there's no love loss there, but this [00:21:43] has taken most people by [00:21:45] surprise, and there's a great deal of [00:21:48] skepticism about... whether this so-called seas far will [00:21:52] hold and as I say whether this import [00:21:56] of Russian diesel will really make any difference. John, [00:21:59] really appreciate the update. Thanks so much. John Brain, life for us in [00:22:03] Washington DC, and following on from what John said, [00:22:07] President Zelensky says Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy [00:22:10] facilities, despite the announcement of that truce by Donald [00:22:14] Trump. Russian strikes hit the second largest city of Karkiv, [00:22:18] killing six people and during nine on Sunday, among the [00:22:22] targets was heating and power plant. Zelensky says [00:22:25] Kive will retaliate if Moscow does not agree to that ce [00:22:29] fire. This winter, if Russia [00:22:33] does not agree to an energy fire, we will [00:22:37] respond. So that is why [00:22:40] yesterday the American President's post [00:22:44] drew real interest and real [00:22:47] hope that the... is f could actually [00:22:51] work, we in Ukraine immediately supported, if Russia [00:22:55] wants us to stop our long range strikes [00:22:59] against its oil refineries and oil [00:23:02] exports, then Russia must stop its [00:23:06] strikes against our energy [00:23:09] system and critical [00:23:12] infrastructure and stop kill our [00:23:15] people. Let's bring in Peter [00:23:19] Dickinson. now live from Kiv, hello there, Peter, has there been [00:23:23] any changes to what's happening on the ground since the announcement of this so-called [00:23:27] energy cease fire? well, [00:23:31] the only major change we've seen is is continued russian attacks, so I'm [00:23:35] not sure whether that constitutes to change or not, it's more more business as usual [00:23:38] unfortunately, um, but certainly within hours of the announcement [00:23:41] being posted on social media by President Trump, uh, [00:23:46] one we had major attack on on the largest power stations in the entire country, in fact, the largest... east [00:23:50] Ukraine, I believe, in Harikiv, so um there's certainly no indication at [00:23:54] all from the Russian side that they have any interest in in [00:23:58] adhering to this sease far, whether they even aware of it or whether they they believe that they [00:24:02] were party to any negotiations, it's not clear at all, but what we can say, [00:24:05] I think with [00:24:06] a with a high degree of certainty is that they're not going, they're not adhering to it, [00:24:10] um, and Ukraine has been clear, they've said President Zelensky has reiterated [00:24:13] today, Ukraine is ready to hear to sease fire, they [00:24:17] proposed cefires themselves on on numerous. occasions of this nature, [00:24:21] energy seasfires, um, but if Russia doesn't um, doesn't [00:24:24] reciprocate, if they don't have a bilateral agreement, Ukraine will not stop its [00:24:28] attacks, because these attacks are regarded by the Ukrainians as absolutely [00:24:32] crucial for [00:24:33] the for the war effort and for their national defense. As you mentioned, [00:24:36] Peter Zelensky spoke in Warsaw earlier on [00:24:40] Monday today, he said that he would agree to an energy fire if [00:24:44] Russia did, what else did he have to say of [00:24:46] significance? [00:24:50] "well, he was calling on the European, I mean the event today was in Warsaw, so it was very much [00:24:54] about European security, and Zelensky was trying to [00:24:57] underline uh, how they're all in this together, as it were, that [00:25:00] Europe now must stand together for the defense of Ukraine and as part the [00:25:04] defense of Europe, as the the front line of European defense, uh, he [00:25:08] noted, he noted that Europe now must be able to defend [00:25:12] itself, that they should be under illusions about um the [00:25:15] ability of of the transatlantic alliance to defend [00:25:19] Europe, it's now up. Europe to do that, and that really needs to be part of [00:25:22] supporting Ukraine as the front line in this this fight, and [00:25:26] I if Ukraine were not just were to fall or Russia were [00:25:30] to see succeed in Ukraine, then Europe would face lot of very difficult security [00:25:33] challenges that they're perhaps not prepared for yet, so um he was really [00:25:37] trying to mobilize further support from the European side by [00:25:41] underlining how how interlinked European and Ukrainian security [00:25:44] are, yeah they certainly are, thanks so much for the update, Peter Dickinson in Kieve [00:25:48] for us. Meanwhile, Russia's presidential [00:25:52] spokesperson Dimitri Peskoff has been commenting in the last few hours. He [00:25:56] says Russia could stop attacks only for a day if Ukraine [00:26:00] holds elections. shov has the [00:26:03] details: the cran has not confirmed that there is [00:26:07] an energy cease fire in place, instead, he the creman [00:26:11] spokesman peskov was quoted as saying that all the [00:26:14] contacts are ongoing, so Russia is essentially playing down the [00:26:18] statements made by the American president, but at the same time [00:26:22] spokesman also said that Moscow really favors and [00:26:26] really welcomes all the efforts the American [00:26:29] envoys with regards to their... of [00:26:33] ways to peace in Ukraine and the negotiators Steve Whitkov and Jared [00:26:37] Kusch have done a great job according to Moscow, so Russia [00:26:41] is now saying that um just not their efforts but also [00:26:44] the personal contact is something that they welcome here, but [00:26:48] in contrast there is Europe and Moscow says that Europe does not want [00:26:52] peace (cran spokesman said they are trying to encourage Ukraine to continue at [00:26:56] the fighting), but at the same time Moscow is also saying that it [00:27:00] remains open for the negotiated. and to this conflict, just before [00:27:04] Russia held the parliamentary elections in the middle of [00:27:08] September, Moscow says it was ready for the resumption the [00:27:11] negotiations, however the Ukrainian strikes that were intensified [00:27:15] throughout the weekend when Russians were heading to the polls uh telling [00:27:19] us according to the Kremman a very different picture that Ukraine is not willing, so [00:27:22] Russia now says that they can stop the fighting for one day [00:27:26] when Ukrainians go to the polin stations to elect a new [00:27:30] president if there is genuine. desire in Kief to hold the [00:27:33] elections, however from the Russian perspective, there is no such desire [00:27:37] and Moscow continues to say that what Ukraine is trying to do is to [00:27:41] find the loop hole, a pretext to end the fighting to [00:27:45] salt it for at least some period of time that would allow [00:27:49] Ukraine [00:27:50] in the words of Russian officials to heal the [00:27:52] wounds [00:27:56] and Ukraine as we've been hearing has been targeting Russia's energy [00:27:59] infrastructure, its oil refineries and data center. Those attacks [00:28:03] have especially intensified over the past 18 months. In June, Russian [00:28:07] refinery output fell to 3.8 million barrels per [00:28:11] day, its lowest level in more than 20 years. Economist [00:28:15] Cornelia Meyer is an energy analyst and CEO of Mia [00:28:18] resources. She tells us the effects those attacks are [00:28:22] having on the rest the world. The world is [00:28:26] really running extremely low on diesel and that [00:28:30] is important because right now. the northern [00:28:33] hemisphere, we are in the harvesting season [00:28:37] and the and diesel and and [00:28:40] agricultural equipment runs on [00:28:43] diesel, so this is countries [00:28:47] are feeling this, especially in Europe countries are feeling it, [00:28:50] about more than 50% of diesel is [00:28:53] imported from from america, what we are [00:28:57] lacking is the the the diesel from the efficient [00:29:00] refineries on the other side for mous and also some [00:29:04] the jet fuel, gasoline, diesel from the [00:29:08] Asian efficient refineries who because the Iran [00:29:12] war do not get enough crude supplies to really [00:29:15] refine sufficient, so the world is really [00:29:18] running very, very low on diesel, [00:29:22] well the I think the deal is that Russia will export [00:29:26] to the US, but maybe also to other countries, and what happens [00:29:30] if is if there is more diesel in the... us um [00:29:34] the obviously prices will come down and that's important for Donald [00:29:37] Trump's mid-term elections, but also you know [00:29:41] there there was the talk of a diesel export [00:29:44] ban from Russia [00:29:46] to, which would have been [00:29:50] very bad for Europe, which where I said more than 50% [00:29:54] the diesel about 420,000 barrels a day in [00:29:57] September are coming from from from the [00:30:01] US and... you now in Latin America gets about 600 thous to [00:30:05] 700 thousand barrels a day, so um [00:30:09] so and any relief is is a good thing, [00:30:13] the issue is just you know what will it do to the [00:30:16] Russia Ukraine conflict, and [00:30:19] clearly um clearly the the western governments are not [00:30:22] very keen on this deal, they were keen on [00:30:26] a ceastfire on an energy ceastfire, but that [00:30:30] seems not to be happening. [00:30:40] You're watching the news hour on TRT World, the reminder of our top [00:30:44] stories: repeated hoothy attacks from Yemen have shaken Riad, the [00:30:48] capital airport has been hit three times in 5 days, killing [00:30:51] 17 people. President Voladimir Zelensky says [00:30:55] Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy facilities despite the truth [00:30:59] announced by Trump at the weekend. Russians. strikes at the second largest [00:31:03] city of K, killing six people and injuring nine [00:31:07] on Sunday. Among the targets was heating and power [00:31:10] plants. [00:31:15] forces have launched a drone attack on refugee camp in the south the [00:31:19] Gaza Strip, killing two Palestinians. Paramedics say [00:31:23] several people were wounded in the attack which struck the area near the city of [00:31:26] Raffa. Thousands of Palestinians displaced by Israel's assault [00:31:30] on Gaza have been forced to live in tents in [00:31:33] Al-Mawasi. Israel's military has been [00:31:37] continuing to expand its so-called yellow line in the east of Gaza [00:31:41] City. The line divides Gaza into two zones: an eastern area under [00:31:45] Israeli military oversight and a western area where Palestinians [00:31:48] can move with fewer restrictions. Military vehicles advance [00:31:52] beyond their existing positions in the east of Gaza City under cover [00:31:56] of heavy gunfire and shelling. Meanwhile, the UN [00:32:00] says nearly two-thirds of Gaza is inaccessible to [00:32:04] Palestinians or subject to severe restrictions. [00:32:07] Abdul Waheb Hamad reports from that so-called [00:32:11] yellow line. I am here in one the [00:32:15] neighborhoods in eastern Gaza City, this area is [00:32:19] very close to the Israeli military controlled areas in [00:32:23] Gaza known as yellow line, there in the [00:32:26] background, that whole area is under full [00:32:30] Israeli military control, the yellow line [00:32:33] determines how much of gaza palestinians here can [00:32:37] actually live in, the problem is this [00:32:41] line was supposed to stay frozen until full [00:32:45] withdrawal from Gaza and until [00:32:48] Donald Trump Gaza peace plan moves [00:32:52] on, the second phase the plan uh moves [00:32:56] on, nothing of that happened, Netanyahu has [00:32:59] described the foot print as [00:33:02] 53% to 60% control over Gaza, and [00:33:06] now he is saying the next step is [00:33:09] 70% control over the Palestinian coastal [00:33:13] enclave, this is naive. "he lives in [00:33:16] distant and has lost his home inside the Israely [00:33:20] military controlled areas in the gaza strip known as the [00:33:24] yellow line, living very close to the line [00:33:28] determines how much he close and other families in this [00:33:32] neighborhood close to their homes, to their schools [00:33:35] inside those areas, moving the line [00:33:39] on means this family has to [00:33:43] move with it, like" bullets are [00:33:46] everywhere, we feel threatened all the time, we can't even [00:33:50] sleep at night because of fear, our lives are very [00:33:52] i'm difficult, [00:34:02] a lot of pain and [00:34:04] i'm still suffering from the [00:34:05] injury, you can imagine what [00:34:09] that means for families living in this [00:34:12] neighborhood, they have been the... placed many [00:34:15] times again and again, they set up [00:34:19] their tents, settle down, and [00:34:22] suddenly they're told to move [00:34:25] again. negotiations over Trump's [00:34:29] gaza peace plan, the second phase remains dead [00:34:33] locked. with this expansion [00:34:37] the yellow line, this means that the areas Israel control [00:34:41] is getting bigger with only one single fact, [00:34:45] less is peace for Palestinians to [00:34:47] live. Israeli settlers have [00:34:51] raided the Al-Aqsa Mosk compound in occupied East [00:34:54] Jerusalem. dozens entered the courtyard and performed prayers [00:34:58] in front the dome the rock mosk. the compound and its [00:35:02] area are sacred Muslim sites, but Israeli [00:35:05] settlers have been carrying out intensifying incursions with [00:35:09] impunity. this year, more than 40,00 settlers have ventured [00:35:13] into the holy compound. [00:35:17] Palestinian farmers in the occupied west bank are vowing to [00:35:20] defend their land from illegal Israeli settlers who [00:35:24] stole half their harvest and some farming equipment on Sunday. [00:35:28] The farmers in Aine Yebrud tried to harvest their olives [00:35:31] but only managed to fill 15 bags before being pushed back by [00:35:35] Israeli forces who fired stun grenades. Muhammad [00:35:39] Alwan has the story. It's their [00:35:43] land, their farms and olives, yet the [00:35:46] Palestinian farmers face a brutal battle every autumn [00:35:50] to access them under the shadow of Israels and illegal [00:35:54] occupation. Together, the residents of Anya Brude village in [00:35:58] the occupied West bank set out on Sunday to harvest their olive [00:36:02] trees, keeping alive a tradition known as [00:36:05] Alona, where people help each other pick the [00:36:08] crop. Another reason for this unity is to protect their [00:36:12] land from illegal Israeli settlers who have... taken over large [00:36:16] areas. Israel has declared the area a closed military [00:36:20] zone, preventing Palestinians from accessing [00:36:22] their own land, for this land owner, even trying [00:36:26] to access his [00:36:36] We have come to harvest our own olives, these are our village trees inherited [00:36:40] from our fathers and grandfathers, thank god our spirits are high because [00:36:44] we are standing on our own land, we are not here to steal or harm [00:36:47] anyone, they are the ones coming to us stealing our [00:36:50] harvest, residents had been on their land for just an hour [00:36:54] when illegal settlers attacked, minutes later, Israeli forces [00:36:58] arrived, the head the village council could only watch as [00:37:02] residents were forced to leave for their own [00:37:04] safety. illegal settlers ramped the [00:37:08] village council's vehicle, forcing it off the road, [00:37:12] attacked residents and try to run people over. they then trave [00:37:16] stones at olive pickers from higher ground, while Israeli [00:37:20] forces fired, stunt grenades at the [00:37:22] palestinians. illegal settlers were seen cutting away [00:37:26] the stolen. harvest and heading towards the top the [00:37:30] mountain they had previously taken over. [00:37:34] The Palestinians have been fished to leave, but they remained determined to [00:37:37] return and harvest their olives. What happened here reflects a wider [00:37:41] pattern across the occupied West Bank, where illegal settler violence [00:37:45] continues escalate. Across the occupied West [00:37:49] Bank, more than 10 attacks are reported daily with the legal [00:37:53] settlers stealing olive harvests in front their owners and [00:37:56] using it. equipment to speed up the process, according [00:38:00] to the agricultural ministry, losses to palestinian's olive [00:38:04] sector have exceeded $157 million [00:38:08] dollars since 2023 with around [00:38:11] 286, olive trees damaged in the [00:38:15] west bank, the ministry fears these losses to rise [00:38:19] as the harvest continues. [00:38:22] TRT World, Ramallah, [00:38:25] the occupied [00:38:25] West bank. Turkish [00:38:29] security sources have announced four PKK terrorist groups have [00:38:32] withdrawn from camps in Northern Iraq's Matina region. The [00:38:36] move is part the terror-free Turkey initiative that aims to [00:38:40] eradicate the terrorism threat. In 2025, the PKK terror [00:38:44] group laid down its arms a symbolic event in Sulaymania [00:38:48] a northern province of Iraq. In August, Turkey's [00:38:51] parliament ratified the bill which underpinned this process. [00:38:55] For more on this story, let's bring in our Diplomatic correspondent Hassan [00:38:59] Abdullah from Ankara. Hassan, what's the significance of this [00:39:03] withdrawal? [00:39:07] Well, basically we're talking about area in northern Iraq that is [00:39:11] part of an important corridor, so we're looking at this area matine, which is in [00:39:15] northern Iraq, going all the way to northeastern Iraq, [00:39:18] connecting what had been the headquarters the PKK terrorist [00:39:22] organization in Candial Mountains towards northern Iraq, and [00:39:26] this is where they've had number of passages, so this area is just to the [00:39:30] south of turkey's southeastern provinces of Shirnak and then [00:39:34] you've got khakari, and this is where they had been [00:39:37] using certain points to infiltrate Turkey and carry [00:39:41] out terrorist activities in Turkey and also of course there was another [00:39:45] passage linking them to Syria, so strategically the Turkish [00:39:49] side is saying this is very significant, and then of course there is also the political view, the [00:39:53] Turkish government is saying that there's a process of terror [00:39:57] free here that is currently underway and this development basically [00:40:00] indicates that the process is moving in the right [00:40:04] direction, they say according to the schedule, they are monitoring of [00:40:08] course the disarmment process and they're saying that [00:40:12] this is going to continue, of course there are going to be some members the PKK terrorist [00:40:15] organization uh who will be granted amnesty [00:40:19] depending on what their history has been, what sort of activities they've been [00:40:23] involved in and so forth, so that process is continuing in [00:40:26] parallel and then of course there is the integration process, the [00:40:29] officials are saying that as these people move out these formal [00:40:33] terrorist camps and apply for amnesty in some cases, in other cases [00:40:37] of course uh they are going to be integrated in Iraqi [00:40:40] society and so forth, there's been coordination between Turkey and Iraq in that regard as [00:40:44] well, so of course this process is being closely monitored [00:40:48] at the moment, but overall the Turkish side is saying that strategically from a [00:40:52] military point of view as well as politically this is a [00:40:56] significant development. "and they're saying that they're continuing to [00:40:59] closely monitor this terror-free turkey [00:41:02] process. okay, thanks for bringing us up to speed. Hassan Abdallah in [00:41:06] Ankara for [00:41:07] us. [00:41:15] Let's head to India now where weekend protests are intensifying as opposition [00:41:19] parties much towards the Supreme Court in support the [00:41:23] youth-led cockroach juntter movement. They're calling for the resignation the [00:41:27] elec'." chief over the removal of 130 million people from [00:41:31] electoral rolls. thousands of people have gathered in the center of New Delhi where [00:41:35] roads have been again blocked by security forces and metro [00:41:39] stations closed. Hundreds have been [00:41:41] arrested. [00:41:43] Shama fouled this report from the same. Quite dramatic [00:41:47] visuals coming in here from the national capital of [00:41:50] India. Right behind me is the truck where you can [00:41:54] see Rahul Gandhi, India's firescest opponent the prime [00:41:58] minister Modi, the leader the Congress Party, [00:42:02] leading that protest march all the way up to Supreme [00:42:06] Court. He is joined here by opposition leaders. [00:42:10] lawmakers, elected law makers from the opposition [00:42:14] parties who are a part the India alliance, all them [00:42:18] have been demanding the resignation the chief election commissioner [00:42:22] Gyanesh Kumar who is accused of serious [00:42:26] electoral fraudulence and no electoral [00:42:29] transparency in the world's largest [00:42:31] democracy. Today when these protest started, all these [00:42:35] leaders were actually in buses, it road up [00:42:39] to distance of some two three kilometers, then rahul [00:42:43] gandhi, priyanka Gandhi started marching on foot, [00:42:47] they were joined by firy young student activist Neha [00:42:51] Bora, who has been detained multiple times [00:42:55] over the past few days, she is the president of [00:42:59] left leaning student organization and after they [00:43:02] walked on foot then they finally got to a [00:43:05] truck, representation will be [00:43:09] submitted to to the Supreme Court a petition will be submitted. We have heard [00:43:13] several opposition law makers asking for the impeachment the [00:43:17] election commissioner. This comes a time when we've already seen [00:43:21] tense protest play out in the streets of [00:43:24] New Delhi led by the Cookroach Janta Party a [00:43:28] popular youth online movement and several youth [00:43:32] activists in thousands including also lawyers and [00:43:35] journalists who have been detained over these [00:43:39] protests. [00:43:40] you know in these past three days, now a state [00:43:44] of emergency remains in place in part of Pakistan, in parts of [00:43:48] Pakistan rather, after thousands of protesters took to the streets. [00:43:51] Demonstrators were in Kaibaktunqua, northern province [00:43:55] governed by the PTI, which is the party of former prime [00:43:59] minister Imran Khan. The government's decision to impose a state of [00:44:03] emergency brings the province under direct federal control. Prime [00:44:06] Minister Shibaz or Shabaz rather Shariff accused. the local [00:44:10] PTI government of failing to maintain law and [00:44:13] order from Islamabad Camron Yusuf [00:44:17] filed this report. Pakistan tarike [00:44:21] Insaf [00:44:22] a party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan who is currently in jail, they are [00:44:26] angry, they have termed it a black day when the federal [00:44:29] government imposed emergency and governor's rule, [00:44:33] but on the ground situation in [00:44:35] Islamabad very much normal, you may see just behind. [00:44:40] shipping containers, blocking one the roads leading to the key [00:44:44] government installations, but these containers have been placed for the [00:44:48] last couple of weeks in anticipation of opposition's [00:44:52] protest, but now we are getting reports that authorities have decided [00:44:56] to remove all these containers and other security [00:44:59] measures, this means that authorities no longer [00:45:03] anticipate or expect that protests may [00:45:07] reach Islamabad, the reason is, after the imposition [00:45:11] of emergency and governor's rule, authorities have [00:45:14] detained hundreds of PTI activists leaders [00:45:18] including now the suspended chief minister the [00:45:22] province who according to the police is under protective [00:45:26] custody in Pishawar the provincial capital there [00:45:30] are reports that there is less than usual traffic, [00:45:33] schools, both the government and the private are currently shut [00:45:37] and this morning newly appointed council led [00:45:41] by the governor presided over a meeting to [00:45:45] decide how to move forward, so political temperature [00:45:49] may be high, but as far as the situation on the ground in the capital is [00:45:53] concerned, that is pretty much normal.
