[00:00:10] Saudi of Arabia promises to retaliate after Ansar allahuthi's [00:00:14] attacks on airports as the Yemeni group claims its [00:00:18] targeted Riyad in a fresh [00:00:19] strike. Hello, welcome to TRT [00:00:23] World Live from London. I'm Hasim Seaker also ahead on the [00:00:26] program. The US Democratic Congresswoman. [00:00:30] a accuses president Donald Trump a political [00:00:33] intimidation after immigration agents raided her [00:00:36] home. Ukrainian president Vuladimir [00:00:39] Zelensky says it's increasingly clear Russia does not want a [00:00:43] US proposed energy cease fire after strikes on six [00:00:47] energy facilities. And a major cyber attack [00:00:51] hit fridges and freezers in supermarkets across France, [00:00:55] spoiling food estimated to be worth millions [00:00:58] in of [00:00:58] of dollars. [00:01:15] of Hello, Yemen's ansarullah [00:01:19] huti say they have launched a fresh attack in the past few hours [00:01:23] targeting Riyadh's international airport [00:01:25] of as well as base in the country south. Saudi Arabia [00:01:29] confirmed that Khamis Musad base was targeted saying the [00:01:33] danger has now passed. Saudi Arabia has vowed a [00:01:36] strong response to recent houti attacks its capital's [00:01:40] main international airport. It also [00:01:44] extended the suspension of all flights to and from Riyad as the Houti [00:01:48] step up their [00:01:49] of attacks. At least 14 people were killed and more than 300 injured in the [00:01:53] deadliest attacks so far on the Riyad International Airport over the [00:01:57] weekend. The event of... [00:02:00] weeks are serious, our response must be [00:02:04] equally serious, energy security cannot be [00:02:07] taken for granted. for Saudi [00:02:11] Arabia, this circum [00:02:12] this circumstances have tested our [00:02:16] a infrastructure, our institution, our [00:02:20] a people and our resilience, they have also [00:02:24] tested decision made long before the present [00:02:27] crisis. is a [00:02:31] former [00:02:31] of Saudi government advisor and a visiting senior fellow at King's [00:02:35] College. He [00:02:36] of says the Houti's motivations are clear. This [00:02:40] is [00:02:40] in a way the their only way to get back at Saudi [00:02:44] Arabia and this is by attacking the civilian [00:02:47] targets. What more, what more to make point for [00:02:51] them is to hit um the airport or hit any other [00:02:55] civilian building to have the uh, [00:02:58] in to have the media, the global media. attention to it, but ultimately it [00:03:02] doesn't really change the the [00:03:05] sequencing on the ground. this is a word that has to happen [00:03:09] unfortunately, they are, as you can see by their actions, [00:03:13] they are a terrorist organization that allows [00:03:16] themselves to do things that are completely out of international norm. [00:03:20] last week they were, they [00:03:22] of hit an electric generator in Medina, so [00:03:26] it's just [00:03:27] a more [00:03:27] of the same, but they've they... very they [00:03:31] have calculated well that hitting a civilian airport such [00:03:35] as the one in riyad or the one in Damasmam the kingf [00:03:38] airport would [00:03:40] a make for enough international media attention to generate [00:03:44] a form of embarrassment towards the Saudi government. the his have been hard [00:03:47] of to defeat because they don't have the same responsibility, they don't have the same [00:03:50] norms. youthi is movement that doesn't have the [00:03:54] responsibility of a government, it just has the responsibility to keep building [00:03:58] its missile [00:03:59] or or its drone. capacity in this case and to keep its people in [00:04:02] poverty and to claim that [00:04:04] it is doing it for [00:04:09] of a divine reason and being from a certain part of Yemen that's the northwestern part that's very [00:04:12] mountainous they [00:04:14] of unfortunately know how to dig in and live in caves and tunnels and what have [00:04:17] you now this war is very different from the previous one because this [00:04:21] war will most will with a high certainty will include ground [00:04:25] forces which has never been which have never been interjected into the [00:04:29] Yemini theatre. before and this is where [00:04:32] of the the the balance will shift, because before it was based [00:04:36] on yemeny ground forces with the [00:04:40] of saudi [00:04:40] and ally [00:04:42] of support, which is happening as we speak today, but going [00:04:46] forward, this clearly is not enough, and the yemini [00:04:49] factions need the support of what is known [00:04:53] as a joint forces command formations coming from other countries in [00:04:57] order to be able to keep pushing upwards. and removing [00:05:01] uh thehies from the [00:05:03] a newly from the newly conquered territories and the one that they've [00:05:05] of conquered for the last decade. in [00:05:09] Yemen, the government's military says it's targetted. [00:05:16] which has been the scene of intense fighting between the two sides, there [00:05:20] has also been heavy fighting in mad with yemeny government forces releasing [00:05:23] footage, it says shows positions being [00:05:26] targeted, the hoothies are warning the us not to enter the war [00:05:30] in Yemen and issued a warning as well to employees of Saudi oil [00:05:34] facilities and [00:05:35] airports. [00:05:39] US becomes [00:05:40] if involved the [00:05:40] in the aggression deliberate over the decision to respond, rather [00:05:44] there will be a swift and painful response targeting the US and all its [00:05:48] interests in the region, wherever we can reach them. we warn all [00:05:52] employees and workers at Saudi oil facilities and airports to stay away [00:05:56] from these sites, as they have become legitimate targets for Yemen, [00:05:59] particularly as the situation is heading towards a full-scale [00:06:02] escalation. [00:06:07] in Sana has the latest on the fighting across the [00:06:09] country. we are talking about about that we are having [00:06:13] two narrations that the hotis say they have carried out or [00:06:17] started or resumed this these operations or attacks [00:06:21] by the hoothies on on Saudi Arabia's vessels and also [00:06:25] continue to escalate [00:06:27] to towards the seaports and now we are having this [00:06:31] newly developmentts in on their attacks in [00:06:34] on the airports of Riyadh and different [00:06:38] airports in in Saudi Arabia's kingdom so far the [00:06:42] the houthies saying that they have escalated in order to [00:06:45] put more pression Saudi Arabia to uh to lift its blockade [00:06:49] and also to to allow yemanes to benefit from their [00:06:53] wealth and to allow also yemenes to start to [00:06:57] resume talks to to go back to the negotiating table [00:07:00] the [00:07:01] hothies leader known [00:07:03] as his latest [00:07:07] speech he mentioned that the they are they are [00:07:11] not to go going [00:07:12] to uh abandoned their what he described as their legitimate demands and [00:07:16] they will continue whatsoever are the consequences until their [00:07:20] demands are met so far the on the other side we are talking about the Saudi [00:07:24] Arabia's official who talked about that the the the [00:07:27] security of energy is something could is [00:07:31] is not couldn't be bargal which could be [00:07:35] described as this way so the are both sides [00:07:39] are demand to continue this war we what? we are having on the [00:07:43] ground that the continuation the first battles in the around the city of [00:07:46] tas, especially that the internationally recognized government spokes [00:07:50] person mentioned that they have carried out nearly [00:07:53] 1,800 operations [00:07:56] on [00:07:57] the south [00:07:58] on the houthies. Iran has offered [00:08:01] to facilitate talks between Saudi Arabia and these, [00:08:05] it also called for a political solution to the [00:08:08] conflict. The... Yemen [00:08:12] issue should have been resolved a long time ago through the same agreement reached between the [00:08:16] Yemenies and Saudi Arabia. You know that road map had been agreed upon between [00:08:20] Yemen and Saudi Arabia and we had also stressed that we support the [00:08:24] implementation of whatever understanding had been reached between [00:08:27] them. [00:08:30] Reza hatami has more from Tehran. Well, Iran has great [00:08:34] influence over Yamen's hoothies. Tehran doesn't deny that [00:08:38] Yemen suthies are it's alah. Iran doesn't deny that [00:08:42] it has. provided yemensuties with support, economic [00:08:45] support, diplomatic support and military support at certain times, [00:08:49] but aran insis that Yemen's Hothies make their own decisions [00:08:53] and the decisions that Hutis make are [00:08:56] not made by Tehran and they they make independent [00:09:00] decisions, so Iran is offering to [00:09:04] help, on Sunday evening, Iran's foreign minister Abbas [00:09:08] Araqchi had a phone conversation with his Saudi canterpart Faisal bin [00:09:12] Farhan. so despite height and tensions between the two countries, between [00:09:15] Iran and Saudi Arabia, these two regional rivals [00:09:19] continue to have diplomatic engagements at [00:09:23] high levels, this was the first phone conversation between [00:09:26] the top diplomats since the Yemen [00:09:30] war started. Iran says that the situation in [00:09:34] the Arabian peninsula has no military [00:09:37] solution. Tehran maintains that the only [00:09:41] way to settle. This is through political means and Iran says that [00:09:45] it is ready to facilitate talks between Saudi [00:09:48] Arabia and between Yeman Southis. Iran says that war [00:09:52] between the two countries between Yemansuthis and Saudi Arabia [00:09:56] only serves Israeli interests. Tehran also [00:09:59] says that road map for peace agreed by Yemeni [00:10:03] waring factions back in 2022 that [00:10:06] UN backed road map should be the basis for [00:10:10] negotiations and for diplomacy. to settle this [00:10:13] issue turkish president [00:10:17] strongly condemns the attacks [00:10:20] king international airport over the weekend he was speaking [00:10:24] about the a joint defense agreement signed with Saudi Arabia and [00:10:28] Pakistan. Erdovan said the work to establish a permanent [00:10:32] institutional framework is [00:10:33] continuing. [00:10:38] We condemn in the strongest terms the attacks carried out by [00:10:41] the hoothies on Saturday against King Khalid international airport [00:10:45] in Riyadh. We ask Allah to have mercy on our brothers and [00:10:49] sisters who passed away. stands with Saudi Arabia and its [00:10:53] Saudi brothers in the face of these unlawful and inhumane [00:10:57] attacks. We're continuing our efforts to establish the [00:11:00] institutional framework for the joint defense agreement. We signed with [00:11:04] Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on August 7, and we're [00:11:07] advancing our defense cooperation along two main things: [00:11:11] first, we're working toward the goals of collective defense and [00:11:15] regional cooperation, second, we're taking the necessary [00:11:19] steps to ensure this cooperation a [00:11:23] permanent and functional. institutional framework, as is the [00:11:27] case with NATO, activities under the joint defense agreement [00:11:31] will be conducted in accordance with our national [00:11:33] legislation. we are continuing our efforts to submit the [00:11:37] agreement to our grand national assembly in the coming days to complete the [00:11:41] domestic ratification [00:11:42] process. [00:11:51] US immigration officials rated the home of Somali bor [00:11:55] Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in the early hours of [00:11:59] Monday morning. Omar is democratic US representative of [00:12:02] Minnesota and an outspoking critic of President [00:12:06] Donald Trump. She said the raid was an act of intimidation and [00:12:10] vowed not to be silenced. Investigation is thought to relate [00:12:14] to Armar's immigration [00:12:15] paperwork. President Trump spoke to [00:12:19] reporters earlier about Omar's investigation and [00:12:23] said this. "this appears to be the [00:12:26] latest and certainly the most dramatic development in what has been a [00:12:30] long-running investigation into Ilan [00:12:34] Oma's immigration history and even her her [00:12:38] overall family's history, including claim that she [00:12:42] married her brother to get him into the United States, claim [00:12:45] she's dismissed as a disgusting lie. this [00:12:49] morning FBI agents sealed off the road where she lives here in [00:12:53] Washington and..." was seen coming out of her [00:12:56] house with various possessions including [00:13:00] documents all part of this [00:13:03] investigation uh now it's significant because in just [00:13:07] 22 days time Ilan Omar will be asking [00:13:11] the people of Minnesota uh those within her [00:13:15] district to vote for her to stay in Congress and the [00:13:19] protocol usually in the United States is that the justice [00:13:22] department does not carry out of operations like this [00:13:26] within 60 days of an election, even [00:13:30] if they believe that a crime has been committed, [00:13:33] because they don't want to favor one side or the other, so obviously [00:13:37] critics of this operation and supporters of [00:13:41] Ilan Omar are saying that this is blatant election [00:13:45] interference, she comes from a country [00:13:48] that is a non-country [00:13:51] and then she comes over here and she complains about our constitution. "I [00:13:55] think she's a terrible person, but that's really up to [00:13:58] the Dok. I have nothing to do. [00:14:02] Israeli forces have launched a drone attack on refugee [00:14:05] camp in South Gaza, killing two Palestinians. [00:14:09] Paramedics say several people were wounded in the attack which struck near the city of [00:14:13] Rafah. The refugee camp there shelters thousands of [00:14:16] Palestinians have been displaced several times in Israel's three-year [00:14:20] war, more than 74,000 have been killed with the [00:14:24] toll. rising almost [00:14:26] daily. [00:14:30] Israel's military continues to expand its so-called yellow [00:14:33] line in the east of Gaza City with more [00:14:37] than 65% the strip now under [00:14:41] Israeli army control. the line divides Gaza into two zones, an eastern [00:14:45] area where Israeli forces remain deployed and prevent Palestinians from [00:14:48] returning and a western area where more than two million [00:14:51] Palestinians have been pushed and forced to live. under further [00:14:55] restrictions. Abdul Wahaab Hamed reports from Gaza on [00:14:59] how people are trying to make living near the yellow [00:15:02] line. I am here in one the neighborhoods in [00:15:06] eastern Gaza City. This area is very close [00:15:10] to the Israely military controlled areas in Gaza [00:15:14] known as yellow line. There in the background that [00:15:18] whole area is under full Israeli military [00:15:21] control. The yellow line determines how [00:15:25] much of Gaza Palestinians here can actually live [00:15:28] in. The problem is this line was supposed to [00:15:32] stay frozen until full Israeli [00:15:35] withdrawal from Gaza. and until [00:15:39] Donald Trump Gaza piece plan moves [00:15:42] on, the second phase the plan uh moves [00:15:46] on, nothing of that happened, Netanyahu has described [00:15:50] the foot print as 53% to [00:15:54] 60% control over Gaza, and now he is [00:15:57] saying the next step is 70% [00:16:00] control over the Palestinian coastal enclave, [00:16:04] this is naif, he lives in distance. and [00:16:08] has lost his home inside the Israeli military controlled [00:16:12] areas in the gaza strip known as the yellow [00:16:14] line. living very close to the line [00:16:18] determines how much he close and other families in [00:16:22] this neighborhood close to their homes, to their schools [00:16:25] inside those areas. moving the line [00:16:29] on means this family has to [00:16:33] move with it. bullets are [00:16:36] everywhere. we feel threatened all the time, we can't even [00:16:40] sleep at night because of fear, our lives are very [00:16:43] difficult. was injured [00:16:47] by straight gun fire near the yellow line, the bullet is still [00:16:50] lodged in my head, i'm [00:16:53] in lot of pain and i'm still suffering from the [00:16:56] injury, you can imagine what [00:17:00] that means for families living in this [00:17:02] neighborhood, they have been displaced many [00:17:06] times again. and again they set up their [00:17:09] tents, settle down, and suddenly [00:17:13] they're told to move again. [00:17:17] negotiations over Trump's Gaza piece plan, the second [00:17:21] phase remains dead locked. [00:17:24] with this expansion the yellow [00:17:27] line, this means that the areas Israel control is [00:17:31] getting bigger with only one single [00:17:34] fact, less space forest. to [00:17:38] live, Russia is [00:17:41] continuing to attack Ukraine's energy facilities, that's despite the [00:17:45] so-called energy cease fire declared by US president Donald [00:17:49] Trump on Sunday. Russia's yet to comment on Trump's claim, but [00:17:52] Ukrainian President Vuladimir Zelensky confirmed several gas [00:17:56] facilities were hit since the ceasefire announcement. Paul [00:18:00] Hawkins has more, a [00:18:04] grocery store in Kakive. [00:18:11] or what's left of it? the Russian missile killed three [00:18:14] people. It's so hard to describe how a [00:18:18] child was lying there, already covered up, and the father was running around [00:18:22] her, crying and screaming. It's so terrifying, it's impossible to [00:18:26] get through something like this. The thermal power plant [00:18:29] 1 km away was also hit. I think that record [00:18:33] was also meant for the thermal power plant, but it hit the civilians. "there [00:18:37] are no military facilities there at all, nothing. 7 [00:18:41] and a half hours earlier, president Trump said both sides had agreed not to [00:18:45] target energy [00:18:46] infrastructure. [00:18:50] well, we want to believe this. 10 minutes had passed since they promised they wouldn't target [00:18:54] energy facilities, and there have already been five [00:18:56] strikes. Ukraine says Russia has hit energy generating [00:19:00] facilities more than 200 times in the past week, as part [00:19:04] of renewed campaign before winter. [00:19:08] "Neither country has confirmed any sort of deal to stop attacking power [00:19:12] plants, but we are ready for an energy [00:19:16] seasfire, we are ready for any mutual [00:19:19] format, anything [00:19:21] that is not one-sided. Ukraine is scratching [00:19:25] its head. President Trump only signed off on more Russian sanctions less [00:19:29] than a month ago, now he's waving them with high diesel prices and [00:19:33] mid-term elections around the corner. Washington has also reported. [00:19:37] threaten to reduce military and intelligence assistance if Ukraine [00:19:41] continues striking Russian refineries. After some puzzling [00:19:45] moves in recent days, Europe should stand up and act [00:19:48] decisively. This must be a week [00:19:52] of strengths. He was speaking at an EU foreign [00:19:56] ministers meeting where strength appears to mean more [00:19:59] sanctions. He will least close to 1,600 [00:20:03] assets and companies and persons. It's the largest list. [00:20:07] Union has come, it could make it harder and more expensive for Russia to [00:20:11] make its weapons, but analysts caution that sanctions alone haven't stop [00:20:15] Russia so far. On Sunday after initially criticizing [00:20:19] the deal, Vladimir Zelensky had President Trump say it's time for Ukraine to have [00:20:23] new leader. Tell Putin, give us two [00:20:27] months, 60 days of total cease [00:20:31] fire, 60 days and we will organize [00:20:33] elections. On Monday came the Russian rebute. [00:20:39] "I do not think he deserves respite. We continue to achieve the goals the [00:20:43] special military operation, some of which will be partly funded by [00:20:47] American money as Trump seeks to achieve. his goals in next [00:20:51] month's mid-term elections. Paul Hawkins, TRT [00:20:55] World. I'm following the failure to [00:20:58] agree on an energy infrastructure truce, Donald Trump has once [00:21:02] again urged Ukraine and Russia to reach [00:21:05] deal. All I know is that Zelinsky and [00:21:08] Putin have to get together and end that ridiculous war. Uh, this [00:21:12] month they lost 32,00 people in that war and [00:21:16] it's ridiculous, so they have to get together and get it done. there is [00:21:20] disaster. did [00:21:22] you see the numbers that just came out this month? 32, mostly [00:21:26] soldiers were killed, young people, 32, killed. [00:21:30] that war has to be over with. [00:21:34] in France, hundreds of supermarkets were hit by an unprecedented cyber [00:21:38] attack that heated fridges and freezers up to 50 degrees [00:21:42] celsius. fires and large scale food damage estimated to be [00:21:45] worth millions of dollars has been reported, and some the country's biggest [00:21:49] supermarket chains were hit in, including car 4, which said [00:21:53] 80 of its stores were affected. Peter Allen has [00:21:57] more on this from Paris. It's an [00:22:00] absolutely extraordinary event, something that has [00:22:04] captured the imagination the French consumer in of course [00:22:08] very negative way. I've just been getting lot of [00:22:11] technical details about what happened through one the [00:22:15] large supermarkets affected, and what actually [00:22:19] happened... was that hackers managed to get through to [00:22:23] an old software program which um [00:22:27] affected around [00:22:30] 400 supermarkets, that's a significant number, [00:22:33] yes there are 15, odd supermarkets across [00:22:37] France, but 400, including many here in central [00:22:41] Paris being hit in this way, is of course [00:22:45] something of huge concern, what I'm hearing is that it was a [00:22:48] Danish company called Danny Foss, [00:22:52] which was regulating these temperatures independently, [00:22:56] remotely from outside the supermarkets and their old [00:23:00] software, they are arguing, was [00:23:03] affected by these hackers, they are saying they accusing the [00:23:07] supermarket of not updating their software to prevent an [00:23:11] attack like this, they're saying it's a security problem, they told the [00:23:15] supermarket how to deal with it because they feared attack like this, but [00:23:19] the attack... happened on Sunday, lot of managers came in on [00:23:23] Monday morning and they found anything up to half their stock completely [00:23:27] ruined, millions of dollars worth of food [00:23:30] ruined. Of course, food security is huge issue [00:23:34] for any modern society, any ancient society as well, but particularly [00:23:38] now when you have um uh fridges and [00:23:42] freezers and the like which are so vulnerable to attack, these were [00:23:46] vulnerable to attack and the hackers managed to get a prosecution. [00:23:50] has been launched, prosecutors are trying to find out who is behind all [00:23:54] that, there is already suspicion that Russians [00:23:58] might be behind it, whenever there's a hacking incident here in France, they [00:24:02] always blame the Russians, but of course they need the evidence to prove it, [00:24:05] but huge huge concern here at the [00:24:07] moment, thousands of people have marched [00:24:11] towards India's supreme court, as widespread protests over [00:24:15] alleged electoral fraud continue to rock the country, [00:24:19] they want the election chief. to resign over what they say is the removal of [00:24:22] 130 million people from voting registers. nearly [00:24:26] billion voters went to the polls in India's last general election in [00:24:29] 2024. Mohammed Haji [00:24:32] reports. [00:24:36] It could be one the biggest political challenges India's government has [00:24:40] faced in more than decade as new week brought a fresh wave [00:24:44] of unrest. Despite security [00:24:48] measures described as fortress. like in New Delhi, once [00:24:51] again thousands of people marched through its [00:24:54] streets, leading them in the front [00:24:58] left seat the bus and fresh from his own detention was [00:25:02] opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, and people are seeing the [00:25:06] Narendra Modi is blocking the whole town, he is putting [00:25:09] 30,00, 40,00 police officers outside, for what, until [00:25:13] the constitution is upheld until the election commissioner [00:25:17] resigns, until the election system is... [00:25:52] Protesters have been out almost daily this [00:25:55] month, over the past three though, they say [00:25:58] police have become more heavy-handed, thousands. [00:26:02] of people were detained. They've also been blocked from the [00:26:06] city's biggest protest sites. They're now calling on the [00:26:10] government to let them in, and if it doesn't. [00:26:14] If you don't give us date in the next 24 hours, then we will be [00:26:17] compelled to give another call for a protest and we'll have no choice [00:26:21] but to hit the streets. The electoral commission has [00:26:25] denied favoring any party with the changes, saying deleted [00:26:29] voters can reapply, while the ruling party. has [00:26:32] accused the opposition of trying to destabilize India and [00:26:36] seize power. It is the prime minister silence though, that [00:26:40] many find deafining. All while protesters [00:26:44] vow to raise their voices even louder, not [00:26:47] just in New Delhi, but across the [00:26:50] country. Mohamed Haji, TRT [00:26:53] World. Bangladesh is [00:26:57] preparing to bring its first nuclear power plant online, [00:27:01] hoping ease. the persistent electricity shortage is there, [00:27:05] the Russian built project has brought jobs and investment, but years of [00:27:09] delays and concerns among some nearby residents have tempered [00:27:12] those expectations. Unis demorol [00:27:14] reports. Bangladesh's [00:27:18] first nuclear power plant has yet to generate electricity, [00:27:22] but in this nearby classroom, it's already sparking [00:27:25] ambitions. My friends and I want to become [00:27:29] scientists and we hope to work [00:27:31] at the plant after graduating. in nuclear engineering, the $13 [00:27:34] billion rupe project promises major new reliable source of [00:27:38] electricity for a country reliant on fossil fuels and struggling [00:27:42] with frequent power cuts. once fully operational, its two reactors are [00:27:46] expected to meet more than 10% of national electricity demand, a [00:27:50] significant input for a country of almost 180 million [00:27:54] people. plant management says the first reactor is scheduled to start up by [00:27:58] the end of this year. built with Russia state nuclear company, [00:28:01] Rosatom, the project has brought thousands of Russian workers and new [00:28:05] business to the area, but the pandemic and sanctions on Russia have [00:28:08] contributed to delays and for some neighbors anticipation is being [00:28:12] tempered by concern. [00:28:16] I am old now and I'm not afraid for my own life, because [00:28:20] I feel I am nearing the end of my life, [00:28:24] but I worry about my children and grand children, I want them to be [00:28:28] safe, they need safety more than I [00:28:30] do. say stringent safeguards incorporate [00:28:34] lessons from previous nuclear accidents [00:28:38] farmer shares some of her neighbors concerns, but power [00:28:41] cuts make irrigating her land difficult. [00:28:45] hope we get electricity for 24 hours without interruption as the [00:28:49] plant is near my home. for bangladesh, the promise extends well [00:28:53] beyond, reliable electricity can keep factories running, [00:28:56] farms irrigated and homes lit after years of delays, the [00:29:00] country is waiting for that to become part of the reality of everyday [00:29:03] life. TRT [00:29:06] World. Economic devastation and [00:29:09] continued Israely attacks have kept many residents displaced from southern [00:29:13] Lebanon. That's despite a supposed truth between the two countries, but in [00:29:17] one village, people are taking matters into their own hands, setting [00:29:21] up a market to help local vendors and revive the spirit the [00:29:25] community. [00:29:30] In southern Lebanon, war, destruction. and losses of [00:29:33] monumental proportion have given people every reason to live in [00:29:37] agony, but at this newly inaugurated Saturday market in the [00:29:41] southern village of qufarsir, agony is opposite to the spirit [00:29:45] in the air. Instead, people have come from near and far to enjoy [00:29:49] fresh food and other local products. Today I [00:29:53] came to support my hometown in my region. We want to contribute to [00:29:57] the success of this beautiful market. Initiatives like these give [00:30:00] us hope and optimism. especially given the current [00:30:03] circumstances. The initiative, which brings together dozens of vendors from [00:30:07] across the region, is only in its second week, but already authorities [00:30:11] say it's having massive success. We make this [00:30:15] market, and we [00:30:18] hear from people, it's very good [00:30:22] idea and excellent [00:30:26] markets for all the people and for far and for [00:30:29] the area. Markets used to be common. in the south, but the [00:30:33] war has made large swaths the area a nogo zone. [00:30:37] they're also especially helpful because so many traditional stores are [00:30:41] still closed. the reason the market is here because [00:30:44] the surrounding town is insecure so the people cannot go over [00:30:48] there plus the expenses of uh the gas prices and so [00:30:52] on. so we felt this an opportunity for the town and th the [00:30:56] different town the surrounding town to come and display their product.
