[00:00:03] a [00:00:09] There is no end insight to fighting between Saudi Arabia and the [00:00:13] Yemen-based hoothies. Hello, welcome to [00:00:17] TRT World [00:00:18] of Live from Istanbul, with me John Paul Davis, also ahead on the [00:00:21] program, I Mohammed reporting from the negative in [00:00:25] southern Israel where 400 residents have been left homeless and [00:00:29] 80 home. demolished by Israeli authorities. [00:00:33] Amid rising criticism over their actions, US Homeland [00:00:36] security raised the house of Somali-born Muslim [00:00:39] congresswoman, Ilhan Omar, and [00:00:43] Bangladesh is making history as it prepares to bring its [00:00:47] of first nuclear power plant into [00:00:49] service. [00:01:03] Yemen's ancerollahuthis say they have launched a fresh [00:01:06] attack targeting riad international airport and the base in the [00:01:10] south [00:01:10] of the country in the past few hours. Saudi Arabia has confirmed that [00:01:14] Kames Mushat base was targeted, but says the danger has [00:01:18] now passed. Saudi Arabia has vowed a strong response to recent [00:01:22] hoothiy attacks its capitals main [00:01:25] of international airport. It has also extended the suspension of all [00:01:28] flights to and from at as the hooties step their [00:01:32] attacks up, well over the weekend, at least 14 people [00:01:35] died, more than 300 as well were injured in the deadliest [00:01:39] attack so far on Riyad's international [00:01:42] airport, the event of recent [00:01:45] weeks are serious, our response must be [00:01:49] equally serious, energy security cannot be [00:01:53] taken for granted, for Saudi [00:01:57] of Arabia, this circum [00:01:58] this circumstances have test our [00:02:01] of infrastructure, our institution, our [00:02:04] people and our [00:02:09] of a resilience. We have also tested decision made long before the [00:02:12] present [00:02:13] crisis. Well, yemen's [00:02:17] a military says it has targeted several hoothy positions ties [00:02:21] governor, which has been the scene of intense fighting between the two [00:02:25] sides. There's [00:02:26] of also a been heavy fighting in Marib with Yemeny government forces. releasing [00:02:30] of footage that it says shows hoothi positions being targeted, [00:02:34] meanwile the hoothies have warned the US not to enter the war in Yemen [00:02:38] and have told employees to stay away from Saudi oil [00:02:41] facilities and [00:02:43] airports. [00:02:47] If the US becomes involved in the aggression against Yemen, we will not deliberate over [00:02:50] the decision to respond, rather there will be a swift and painful response [00:02:54] targeting the US and all its interests in the region, wherever we can reach [00:02:58] them. We warn all employees and workers at Saudi oil facilities and [00:03:02] airports to stay away from these sites, as they have become legitimate [00:03:06] targets for Yemen, particularly as the [00:03:09] in of situation is heading towards a full scale escalation, well Iran has [00:03:13] offered to facilitate talks between Saudi Arabia and the [00:03:16] Huthies, it has also called for a political solution to the [00:03:21] of conflict, the eminition should [00:03:25] have been [00:03:25] in resolved a long time ago through the same agreement reached between the Yemenes and Saudi [00:03:29] Arabia. You know that road map had been agreed upon between Yemen [00:03:32] of and Saudi Arabia, and we had also stressed that we support the [00:03:36] implementation of whatever understanding had been reached between [00:03:39] them. Well, Paul Ingram is a research affiliate at [00:03:43] the University of Cambridge's center for the study of existential [00:03:46] risk. He [00:03:47] of says Saudi Arabia should listen to Iran because Tehran has some [00:03:51] influence over the House. He argues that talks are increasingly [00:03:55] necessary as the confrontation becomes more [00:03:58] dangerous. "the Iranians are offering the hand [00:04:02] of negotiations, the Israelis uh, who have been [00:04:05] a significant force of disruption in the [00:04:08] region, [00:04:09] a uh, the Saudis are definitely caught between rock and a hard [00:04:13] place here, but um, but they would do well to [00:04:16] - to listen to the Iranians, because of course the Iranians do have some [00:04:21] of influence over the hoothies and and the hoothies are are [00:04:25] escalating - as we speak, and uh, Riyad Airport [00:04:29] is under..." attack so so I think I think that we [00:04:33] do need talk uh because uh the depth [00:04:37] of the confrontations uh the traps [00:04:40] that all these countries seem to find themselves in and the [00:04:44] mentality which seems [00:04:46] of to be only one direction um escalate uh because [00:04:49] the alternative is capitulation uh is is [00:04:53] getting sizably dangerous [00:04:56] and and and [00:04:58] it is very concerning for those of us looking at these escalation [00:05:02] pathways moving in directions that uh that [00:05:06] well things are already out of control geographically i [00:05:09] think it's it's already spreading. 'I mean we have [00:05:13] ev even the British government claiming that the uh [00:05:17] that the Iranians are planning attacks within the UK [00:05:21] uh we have other governments who are supporting the [00:05:25] UK in making these accusations and and why [00:05:29] wouldn't it um because uh the uh the British [00:05:32] are hosting American armed forces making attacks on [00:05:36] Iran so um so the so uh [00:05:40] it's it cannot be contained'. Uh, it needs to be [00:05:43] negotiated upon, the dangers are are are [00:05:47] significant, at the moment you have managed, [00:05:51] you have seen the Hothies manage to deter the US from entering [00:05:54] that particular confrontation between the Houties and the [00:05:57] Saudis. Well, Turkish President Recep Tayp [00:06:01] Erdogan has strongly condemned the hoothi attacks on Riyad, [00:06:05] King Khalid International Airport, speaking about the Mecca joint [00:06:09] defense agreement signed with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. [00:06:20] We condemn in the strongest terms the attacks carried out by [00:06:24] the Hufis on Saturday against King Khalid International [00:06:27] Airport in Riyad. We ask Allah to have mercy on our brothers [00:06:31] and sisters who passed away. stands with Saudi Arabia [00:06:35] and its Saudi Brothers in the face these unlawful and inhumane [00:06:39] attacks. We're continuing our efforts to... established the [00:06:43] institutional framework for the joint defense agreement we signed with [00:06:47] Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on August 7 and we're [00:06:50] advancing our defense cooperation along two main things: [00:06:54] first, we're working toward the goals of collective defense and [00:06:58] regional cooperation. second, we're taking the necessary [00:07:02] steps to ensure this cooperation is enshrined in a [00:07:06] permanent and functional institutional framework, as is the [00:07:09] case with NATO, activities under the joint. defense agreement [00:07:13] will be conducted in accordance with our national [00:07:16] legislation. We are continuing our efforts to submit the [00:07:20] agreement to our grand national assembly in the coming days to complete the [00:07:24] domestic ratification process. An [00:07:27] Israeli drone attack has targeted refugee camp in the south of [00:07:31] Gaza, killing at least two Palestinians. Paramedics say [00:07:35] several people will wounded in the strike on the camp near Raffa, which is [00:07:39] home to thousands of Palestinians who have been displaced. multiple times [00:07:43] through Israel's three-year war, well the Israeli unslaught [00:07:46] continues despite the ceasefire agreed last October, [00:07:50] more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed [00:07:54] since that cease fire took [00:07:56] effect. Israel has [00:08:00] meanwhile expanded its presence across the enclave, especially [00:08:03] around the so-called yellow line buffer zone. tiat [00:08:07] will Abdul Wahab Hamad travel to one of such [00:08:11] areas and now on why palestinians living with their [00:08:14] families are terrified seeing the Israelis closing [00:08:18] in. i am here in one the neighborhoods in [00:08:22] eastern gaza city. [00:08:24] this area is very close to [00:08:26] the Israeli military controlled areas in gaza known [00:08:30] as yellow line there in the background that [00:08:33] whole area is under full Israeli military [00:08:36] control. the yellow line determines how [00:08:40] much of gaza palestinian. here can actually live [00:08:43] in. The problem is this line was [00:08:47] supposed to stay frozen until full Israeli [00:08:51] withdrawal from Gaza and until [00:08:54] Donald Trump Gaza piece plan moves [00:08:58] on, the second phase the plan uh moves [00:09:02] on, nothing of that happened. Netanyahu has described [00:09:06] the foot print as 53% to [00:09:09] 60% control over Gaza and now... He is [00:09:13] saying, the next step is 70% [00:09:16] control over the Palestinian coastal enclave. This is [00:09:20] naif, he lives in distant and has [00:09:24] lost his home inside the Israeli military controlled [00:09:27] areas in the Gaza strip known as the yellow [00:09:30] line. Living very close to the line [00:09:34] determines how much he close and other families in [00:09:37] this neighborhood close to their homes, to their schools [00:09:41] inside. areas uh, moving the [00:09:44] line on means this family [00:09:48] has to move with it, bullets are [00:09:52] everywhere, we feel threatened all the time, we can't even [00:09:56] sleep at night because of fear, our lives are very [00:09:58] difficult, [00:10:02] by straight gun fire [00:10:04] was injured near the yellow line, the bullet is still lached in my [00:10:07] head, i'm in lot of pain and i'm still suffering [00:10:11] from the injury. You can imagine [00:10:15] what that means for families living in this [00:10:18] neighborhood, they have been displaced many [00:10:21] times again and again they set up. their [00:10:25] tens setle down and suddenly [00:10:29] they're told to move again. [00:10:33] negotiations over Trump's gaza peace plan, the second [00:10:37] phase remains deadlocked [00:10:40] with this expansion the yellow [00:10:43] line, this means that the areas Israel control is getting [00:10:47] bigger with only one single fact, less [00:10:51] space for Palestinians to live. [00:10:55] while continuing its attacks on Palestinian heritage, land and [00:10:59] property, Israel has been demolishing scores of Palestinian families [00:11:03] homes in the Negev desert region. Our correspondent Mohammed [00:11:07] Al-Kassim now reports from that area. And [00:11:11] the demolition and uprooting forcefully displacing [00:11:14] Palestinians is not exclusive only to the Gaza Strip which [00:11:18] is only few kilometers away from here or even to the [00:11:22] north of us in the occupied Wis Pank and occupied east [00:11:25] Jerusalem, even Palestinian Bedwins in this [00:11:29] unrecognized village, one among dozens in the southern part of [00:11:33] Israel in the negav, [00:11:34] this adhiah village, which Palestinian Bedwins [00:11:38] today say that there was a massacre carried out by [00:11:41] Israeli forces, massacre of homes, at [00:11:45] least 80 homes were destroyed as well as [00:11:49] structures this morning, hundreds of [00:11:52] Israeli police officers and board. police [00:11:56] raided this village, [00:11:59] demolishing 80 homes belonging to about [00:12:03] 80 families in the process [00:12:05] displacing, making 400 [00:12:09] people homeless, displacing them, [00:12:12] destroying everything, even the only mask [00:12:16] in this village was not spared, [00:12:20] you're looking at the rubbles the only mosque in the [00:12:23] village, lead that was destroyed and by the [00:12:27] way, they started with the mask and then [00:12:31] went to every single building or [00:12:35] home or structure belonging to one family, the [00:12:38] excuse from the Israeli government that those homes [00:12:42] were built without a permit, something that is [00:12:45] absolutely or near impossible for Palestinians in [00:12:49] occupied east jerusalem and also in Israel, [00:12:53] those are citizens of Israel that cannot really [00:12:57] obtain these building pyramids, now [00:13:00] you have 400 people who have become homeless, [00:13:04] however, despite this state of [00:13:07] misery that they are living in, and as you can see even praying [00:13:11] outside, [00:13:12] we just passed few children who were playing football [00:13:16] outside, studying, trying to maybe focus and [00:13:19] concentrate on studying, peoples belonging from [00:13:22] mattresses to beds, to [00:13:26] electronics, refrigerations, tvs and so forth are [00:13:30] now outside with winter approaching fastly, even the few [00:13:34] olive trees that were here in [00:13:38] this village were uprooted also, nothing was [00:13:42] spared as you can see around, so the process going on, [00:13:45] 380,000 palestinian bedins live [00:13:49] in southern Israel in the negav nearly [00:13:53] 80,000 live in unrecognized villages [00:13:56] and Israel led by [00:14:00] prime minister Netanyahu and far right national security [00:14:04] minister who is leading the campaign to destroy these [00:14:08] homes in the negav boosting about his [00:14:11] actions saying that he will not rest until [00:14:15] every single building in the negav belonging to a Palestinian [00:14:19] Beduon is demolished they're using this [00:14:22] destruction in the neg of. in their [00:14:25] campaign, pretty much the same as the case [00:14:29] with finance minister Betsalismotric and Etummar Bing Vir and [00:14:32] others who are using expanding illegal settlements and building [00:14:36] new settlements and increasing the number of settlers and supporting [00:14:40] illegal settlers with their increased violence and [00:14:44] aggression in their campaign. Palestinians are saying the [00:14:47] same is taking place here, and even [00:14:51] though they are Palestinian citizens of Israel, [00:14:55] didn't really matter for the Israeli authorities, hundreds of police [00:14:58] officers, several bulldosers came early this [00:15:02] morning and destroyed nearly 80 homes belonging again [00:15:06] to about 80 families, displacing, making 400 [00:15:09] people, homeless, many them children and [00:15:11] women. [00:15:17] US immigration officials have raided the home of Somali born [00:15:21] congresswoman Ilan Omar in the early hours of month. [00:15:25] Well Omar is democratic congress woman representing Minnesota [00:15:29] and an outspoken critic of US president Donald Trump. She [00:15:33] described the raid as an act of intimidation and vowed not to be. [00:15:38] the investigation reportedly revolves around Omar's [00:15:41] immigration paperwork [00:15:45] says this is all part of a criminal investigation sure criminal on [00:15:49] what that's what we want to know what what is mean [00:15:53] a criminal are the people running around hijacking and [00:15:57] killing people and stealing the cars and marking up cars and scratching [00:16:01] them and stuff not someone that's quietly in their home like this and this she's a [00:16:04] threat because she acts like she's doing something. [00:16:09] 'well the US president Donald Trump has lashed out at [00:16:13] Ilhanomar, I understand they're looking [00:16:16] at her very carefully, I've always l to be [00:16:20] totally crooked personally, but that has nothing to do with me, I think [00:16:24] she's a terrible person, just a complainer, she comes from a [00:16:28] country that is a non-country, and then [00:16:32] she comes over here, she complains about our constitution, I think she's [00:16:36] a terrible person, but That's really up to the dear [00:16:39] j and erosion has said more on this now [00:16:42] from Washington DC. This fits a [00:16:46] long pattern for President Trump, he will rail [00:16:49] relentlessly against his enemies, his political enemies, his perceived [00:16:53] enemies, he will openly call for the justice department to launch [00:16:57] investigation into them, which in itself is really uh [00:17:01] rather stunning, it's there's always been this wall between the presidency or traditionally [00:17:05] wall between the presidency and the justice department. but then when the justice [00:17:08] department then finally pulls the trigger so to speak and does launch [00:17:12] investigation, trump tends to sort of back off and say, well, it's not me, it's the [00:17:16] justice department launching this investigation, but what really has lot of people [00:17:20] talking uh at this hour about all this is the fact that the justice [00:17:24] department has a traditional policy that says you don't [00:17:28] publicly announce the launching of investigation into a [00:17:31] politician when you're 60 days out within 60 days out of an [00:17:35] upcoming election, well we're only about 20 days out now from [00:17:39] this upcoming mid-term election, Ilhan Omar is [00:17:42] four-term member of Congress, sitting member of Congress, she's [00:17:46] running again for fifth term, so that is really [00:17:49] unusual, although there's no mechanism to actually prevent the Justice [00:17:53] Department from doing that, so it's kind of a judgment call, but [00:17:57] that is what critics are really howling about against the Trump administration saying [00:18:01] this is clear uh violation the [00:18:03] of Justice department's mission, they're trying to weaponize this uh... [00:18:07] investigation in order to somehow affect the election of [00:18:11] Omar in Congress. Well, let's get more on this now. Joining [00:18:15] us, from Atlanta is Christopher Bruce, who's a political strategist [00:18:19] with Common Ground Strategy Group. Christopher, great to have you on TRT [00:18:23] World. I'm going to pick up on what Andy was saying there about the Department of [00:18:26] Justice, is their unwritten rule that strictly aims to avoid any [00:18:30] public investigation of candidate within 60 days [00:18:33] of an election, partly for fear of creating bias. [00:18:37] I mean in completely ignoring that, is Donald Trump trying [00:18:41] to interfere here with potential outcomes and is this, as Omar [00:18:45] claimed escalation a pattern of [00:18:47] intimidation? Well, let's start [00:18:51] off very clearly that anyone that is investigating [00:18:55] a congress member or elected official, one, no one is above the [00:18:59] law and no one is below the law either, so [00:19:03] a our democracy you're supposed to abide by [00:19:06] rules. including the justice department and including the president the United [00:19:10] States. now what we're really looking for right now is [00:19:14] transparency within the process. we have not seen that [00:19:17] yet, but [00:19:19] we have seen the president say he had nothing to do with it. we will definitely [00:19:23] find out later if he did, or if he's been up to date on [00:19:26] this. the issues really come into has something [00:19:30] happened that deserves investigation. is this a political witch [00:19:34] hunt? is there anything that's in here that really is? it [00:19:37] politically beyond that, well the president and the congresswoman do [00:19:41] not get along, they've done it publicly and privately with these [00:19:44] spats, no one should be concerned about that, people should be concerned [00:19:48] about justice, and US house democratic [00:19:52] leader christopher hakim jeffrys described the raid as deeply [00:19:55] disturbing, raising serious questions about the weaponization the federal [00:19:59] government against Trump's enemies, we cast our [00:20:03] minds back some five or six six years to the unrest and violence [00:20:07] that... occurred following Trump's election defeat to Joe Biden, is the [00:20:11] president's inflammatory language here setting the scene for [00:20:14] something similar, creating chaos when things don't go his [00:20:18] way? when things do go his way, [00:20:22] he creates chaos, when things don't go his way, he creates chaos. the [00:20:26] issue is the amount of power that a US president has to [00:20:30] influence uh people in congress and the political [00:20:33] process. uh, we are a critical point in America, [00:20:50] to harass and intimidate others, we are at crossing point, and [00:20:54] I do believe the American people are going to choose wisely when it comes this [00:20:57] November. Christopher, I want [00:20:59] to ask you about this as well, dictionary defines racism as the conviction that [00:21:03] one's own race is superior in intelligence, he has described [00:21:07] h Somalia as not even a country as garbage, his verbal [00:21:11] attack on the immigrant Somali community, it seems to [00:21:15] have more than a hint of racism about it. Are you disappointed that more [00:21:19] leaders don't... call him out or are people just afraid of him [00:21:22] and what he might do in response to them if they [00:21:25] do or even worse [00:21:29] apathetic. that's what i'm really concerned [00:21:32] about. people who allow this individual [00:21:36] who bullies and says some the most horrendous things that we've ever heard [00:21:40] and not say anything about it. so everything that you just [00:21:44] labeled the people being scared of him, people are [00:21:47] absolutely maybe a... [00:22:20] We never want to repeat. Christopher, grateful for your time in your analysis. [00:22:24] Thank you for joining us on TRT World. Thank [00:22:27] you. Thousands of people have marched [00:22:30] to India's Supreme Court as widespread protest over [00:22:34] alleged electoral fraud continue to rock the country. They want the [00:22:38] election chief to resign over what they say is the removal of [00:22:42] 130 million people from voting registers. Well, [00:22:46] nearly billion people were eligible to vote in India's last general. [00:22:50] That was in 2024, [00:22:52] well Mohammed Haji now [00:22:53] reports. [00:22:58] It could be one the biggest political challenges India's government has [00:23:01] faced in more than decade, as new week brought a fresh wave [00:23:05] of unrest. Despite security [00:23:09] measures described as fortress like in New Delhi, once [00:23:13] again thousands of people marched through its [00:23:16] streets, leading them in [00:23:20] front left seat the bus and fresh from his own detention was [00:23:23] opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, and people are, and [00:23:27] people are seeing the Narendra Modi is blocking [00:23:29] the whole town, he is putting 30,00, 40,00 police officers [00:23:33] outside, for what, until the constitution is upheld, [00:23:37] until the election commissioner resigns, until the election system is [00:23:41] revamped, until India gets justice, the youth [00:23:45] of this country won't stop. Do whatever you [00:23:48] want. This march was headed to the [00:23:51] Supreme Court to submit a petition calling for his [00:23:55] impeachment. He is guilty, they say, [00:23:59] of electoral fraud. Today everything is [00:24:03] in their hands, they have taken control of everything, and we're out on the [00:24:07] streets fighting for those rights, for that voice, for the [00:24:10] voice the people. Protesters have [00:24:14] been out almost daily this month, [00:24:17] over the past three though, they say... Police have become more [00:24:21] heavy-handed.
