[00:01:58] jones, [00:01:59] i good to to see you, good afternoon, m, [00:02:03] thank you very much, nice having on the show, yeah, thank you, thank you, I think we should [00:02:07] start with this very good news, uh, let me say that what were the [00:02:11] key drivers uh behind the Nigerian stock markets, [00:02:14] 289 billion Nyira gain at the start of [00:02:18] August, and is this rally sustainable that is [00:02:21] key? [00:02:23] of uh, yes, if you look at the market, the market start um the the month with um [00:02:27] positive momentum uh, as the market again about [00:02:30] 0.81% and the like you [00:02:33] said [00:02:35] um MTM, vitalful, nasco, are part of [00:02:39] what moved the market, so we've been seeing some buying interest in [00:02:42] those icap stock, so we should [00:02:46] not forget the fact that dividend [00:02:48] of announcement [00:02:50] of of and it's result are part of what moved the market from the end of July [00:02:54] to first week in in the first first trade [00:02:57] of the month of August and if you look at what was going on in [00:03:00] this um the financial resort that was released by the bank um [00:03:04] of from first bank um hbnn [00:03:07] mt [00:03:08] and the rest the the results were fantastic [00:03:12] you now just like HBNN Nigeria also related definite announcement of [00:03:15] internet of 16 and MTM inter div relates of [00:03:19] about 26 so this have moved [00:03:22] in investors this have increased investors confidence in the market and market [00:03:26] sentiment have increased actually and uh if you look notice from the [00:03:30] of June 2026, the little [00:03:33] investors in terms of domestic investors have improved, even [00:03:37] though [00:03:39] of institutional investors are the one controlling the market, more than 67% [00:03:42] of the domestic investors, so the buying interest for [00:03:46] from retail investors have improved, the dividend [00:03:49] announcement, the in [00:03:51] of result of fundamental, the earnings financial position [00:03:55] of these companies have really really improved, so lot of investors are not going [00:03:59] for st. that [00:04:00] a fundamentals, the stock that the zombie, let me use that [00:04:03] zombie, so this rally have shows that [00:04:07] investors are key in terms of investing nigerian market, and we [00:04:11] should not forget the [00:04:12] of fact that SNP have said that they want to revise the [00:04:16] a Nigerian market to frontier market from standalone market in [00:04:19] 2027, and [00:04:21] of this month august ending is where we will be hearing the announcement [00:04:25] from Frutos saying that they want to revise the Nigerian [00:04:28] of market in [00:04:29] of from from unclassified to frontier market starting [00:04:33] from the month of September, so [00:04:35] of global investors, domestic investors are coming back to this market [00:04:39] to invest, and the fact remain the same that the market is [00:04:43] doing more than 50% return, which is quite impressive, and if you look at [00:04:47] what happened in the month of July 2026, you will notice that the [00:04:50] Nigeria's [00:04:52] or share index, or share [00:04:54] a index be being the best performing um stock market [00:04:58] over the world, which which... um came first before the [00:05:01] Korea um stock market, the Korea stock market have been laid [00:05:05] in the first in the first half of 2020, 2026, but as a June [00:05:09] second week in June [00:05:10] a 2026, the [00:05:11] a Nigeria index. in place against the dollar, if you compare it to the dollar um [00:05:15] currency, so investor confidence have improved actually in the [00:05:19] market, lot of volume we've seen in first oco [00:05:23] where where have increased is is [00:05:27] holding more than 20%, there been a lot of um deals that [00:05:30] is going on and activities have keep increasing as as last [00:05:34] week as a Monday the first feating day of august [00:05:38] about 72 544 deals was [00:05:41] done as holding was recorded about the highest [00:05:45] volume uh followed by honey flower followed by stanly financial [00:05:49] holding um universal insurance also we should not [00:05:52] forget the fact that the national insurance company [00:05:55] recapitalizations have also improve the [00:05:59] liquidity in the insurance sector stocks you look at the [00:06:02] three month average stock that has been traded in the insurance sector stock [00:06:06] it has increased so this this so many so many factor [00:06:10] i've mentioned about sev factor that the market that kick the [00:06:14] market, but as last um yesterday to today, the [00:06:18] market is going bearish because um sell off as result of um [00:06:22] profit taken. interesting stuff now again, [00:06:26] i know you've identified some sectors already, but specifically which [00:06:30] sectors or stocks would you say contributed most to the market's positive [00:06:33] performance and where do you see the best investment opportunities in the [00:06:37] coming weeks? well if [00:06:40] you look at the market the the sector. have contributed to the market [00:06:44] down from the month of July to the first trading day of august is the banking [00:06:47] sector in the month of July 2026 month or month the banking [00:06:51] sector contributed nothing less than 22% which is [00:06:54] massive meaning that if you invest your money in the banking sector only [00:06:58] stock like first mostly detail one first oco [00:07:02] um GTCO access assess c [00:07:06] you know those bank will return nothing less than 20% first oko [00:07:10] move from below h to um below 100 to [00:07:13] 122 and it's currently trading close to 130 now so the [00:07:17] bank sector move the market because as a now [00:07:21] GTCO most bank have not released their financials [00:07:25] and what if they release their financials so the bank sector is a place [00:07:29] where we can put our earding especially when we are expecting that they [00:07:33] will pay surely pay dividend inter dividend because the liquidity in the market under cash [00:07:37] flow interest rate is still sitting at 26.5 and is [00:07:41] giving them the op to learn money more than close to [00:07:44] 30%. so the banking sector is [00:07:47] a is a place where the investors can keep continue to invest [00:07:51] in the market now that the intering divident have not come [00:07:55] out announcement have not come out also industrial sector hbn [00:07:59] went from 3:30 from the last trading [00:08:02] date of july to about 390 the moment the announce [00:08:06] the financial and the inter divident of 16 went to 390 [00:08:10] currently is trading 360 in the market. and we should notice that um [00:08:14] the qualification date for HBN Nigeria which formally known as [00:08:17] what is now August 12 and the [00:08:21] payment date is August 19 there's a short period of [00:08:24] SD meaning that you can you can easily take your dividend or [00:08:28] you can easily um sell off now if it goes down after [00:08:32] the you can you can easily buy back so there's opportunity the banking [00:08:36] sector the industrial sector and some selected uh [00:08:40] um stock in the consumer sector like pe like pel [00:08:43] like presco is trading low and also oil and gas is [00:08:47] also there is trading around 1,353 is almost on full [00:08:51] offer and also looking at the [00:08:54] telecommunication [00:08:56] is trading around 800 to 8:12 in the market [00:09:00] so there's opportunities in the market the banking sector the industrial [00:09:04] sector the it communication and some selected stock in [00:09:07] the consumer sector however for insurance [00:09:11] sector because of liquid the liquidity insurance sector is not that that [00:09:15] that massive so we recommend going for insurance sector stock [00:09:19] except you want to play around maybe six month or one [00:09:22] year olding before that so that's why you [00:09:26] see research we try our best to cover mostly [00:09:29] seven sector in the stock recommendation that we normally send out and that's why [00:09:33] we recommend that in ancoura there is money market fund [00:09:37] that you can invest in if you don't [00:09:40] want to play in equity market fund but let's look [00:09:44] at recent macroeconomic factors now such as inflation, interest rate [00:09:48] issues, you know what's happening here, exchange rate movements and corporate [00:09:51] earnings, shaping investors sentiments in the Najaan equities [00:09:55] market, how do you see that uh affecting [00:09:59] uh projections and of course market sentiments moving [00:10:01] forward? okay, so let me take it back to [00:10:05] 2020, 2025 where inflation was coming down [00:10:09] and what we projected in encoura research was [00:10:12] that [00:10:13] you know the when inflation is coming down it favors more of um the [00:10:17] consumer sector, the manufacturing sector [00:10:19] um um players and the reason why we say so that is that [00:10:23] inflation is coming down the... power is getting like is getting [00:10:27] bigger, it's getting more massive and people will tend to buy more, buy more of [00:10:31] your goods, buy more of of your your py or the [00:10:34] rest, that's why you see that most investors play well in the consumer [00:10:38] sector as [00:10:39] a last year, however this year the on gas is performing well because [00:10:43] the volatility, the geopolitical tension that is happening in the middle [00:10:47] east the part the world and now you will now [00:10:51] notice that in terms of inflation the CBM federal government have said [00:10:55] that they want to do they want to make sure that inflation is going going below 15%, [00:10:59] currently inflation [00:11:00] in doing 15.91 is affecting the economy also, but [00:11:04] month on month inflation is also like is below 2%. [00:11:08] so in terms of that, inflation is still affecting as inflation [00:11:11] is moderating upward is affecting the consumer sector, but we should [00:11:15] notice that we should notice that the banking sector is playing big [00:11:19] in the [00:11:21] in in the market as result the the stability. in [00:11:25] the funny exchange, the stability in the interest rate, interest [00:11:29] rate is sitting at 26.5, if there is up and down volatility in [00:11:33] the interest rate, you won't see banking sector declaring good dividend, [00:11:36] declaring um good any result, so the [00:11:39] macroeconomic variables, like i may mention the interest [00:11:43] rate, the inflation is affect [00:11:45] the f exchange too is being stable, so the nigerian economy is being [00:11:49] stable in terms of interest rates in terms of funny exchange, in terms [00:11:52] of inflation, inflation is jumping from 15% to [00:11:56] 17%, just in minor moderation it is going on inflation so [00:12:00] is affecting um this player in the market so down what to what [00:12:03] will happen [00:12:04] in h [00:12:04] to 2026 we are now looking at in research we are looking at inflation will [00:12:08] be around 16.5 by end of 2026 we are [00:12:12] looking at gdp will be around 4% in the physical market also we are [00:12:16] looking at treasure b will be an [00:12:19] 18.5 [00:12:21] wh um why um the the bond yield we stand 18% [00:12:25] so most player will not say come let me go to f equity market [00:12:29] because equity market have deliver yet to date more than 50% [00:12:33] so if you are not if you justify your portfolio if you don't [00:12:36] want to play in equity market like i said earlier you want to play in money market phone in [00:12:40] Ankoria we have money market f we have equity f that okay a good fund [00:12:44] portfolio manager manage very well if you are too optimistic that okay oh [00:12:48] i'm [00:12:48] not a risk taker you can invest in all those mutual fund you can invest in all [00:12:52] those um money market mutual fis income [00:12:55] so inflation, macroeconomic variables are play a [00:12:59] large um part in terms of stability of equity [00:13:02] market, because the stability in macroeconomic [00:13:05] indicators, government is not coming in and say oh let [00:13:09] me move this, let me remove that, [00:13:11] you know this fiscal policy is be stable, part [00:13:15] the fiscal policy is the capitalization [00:13:18] for from the banking, telecommunication, let me take you back to [00:13:21] NCC in 2025 where the NCC said percent increase [00:13:25] in tarif also this does the [00:13:28] capitalization [00:13:30] the capitalization in the banking sector, capitalization in the insurance sector, the [00:13:34] capitalization in the pension center, i have consistently, this policy have [00:13:38] consistently help sustain the market to [00:13:42] be where it is, and we are seeing that effect and we also seeing that [00:13:45] effect in the foreign reserve um from the beginning of this year [00:13:49] 2026, so in age to 2026 we believe that there [00:13:53] continues stability in market. economic variables [00:13:57] indicators will surely see the market closing around [00:14:01] 65% before year of year of 2026 and by [00:14:05] 2027 we expect that the market should be a way to [00:14:08] road map for investors that they will look at okay uh [00:14:12] after stability we are looking at sustainability the [00:14:16] the market and more investors global investor should come into the [00:14:20] market currently in in the stock market global investor is below [00:14:24] 2% as result of geopolitical foreign [00:14:28] exchange that is going [00:14:29] on in the country, so I believe that if the sustainability in [00:14:33] equity market, [00:14:34] we will surely see more of [00:14:36] um global investor playing well in the market [00:14:41] report in 2027, just on the light note, there was yesterday uh showing that um the bearing companies [00:14:45] made so much money uh this time [00:14:48] I think about 1.4 trillion naira and of course that [00:14:52] should impact uh the the performance the market. [00:14:55] what's particular about the likes of nigerian bries, guiness and [00:14:59] international bearies and all them, how are they performing at the [00:15:01] exchange? well, if you look at what what's going on in the exchange, [00:15:05] pz, pz currently get as this [00:15:09] morning, ninja bury, nestly, [00:15:13] international b, are quite doing where the are trading where in the market, now [00:15:17] this is where we um as reser comes in that what is going [00:15:21] on, is he buying interest or is he barrining on? [00:15:25] that is going [00:15:26] on in this consumer sector, don't forget consumer sector deliver more [00:15:30] than close to 100%, if not more than 100% as the [00:15:32] last 2025 as result of [00:15:36] stability as result of downward movement inflation [00:15:40] now inflation is not moving as massive like j saw in [00:15:43] 2024 because of um lot of f [00:15:46] subsidy [00:15:47] and and the rest now what the macroeconomy [00:15:51] indicator is doing for those [00:15:55] the [00:15:55] the the bur's manufacturing company is that the [00:15:59] stability number one the stability secondly you see that the [00:16:02] purchasing power for these consumers have [00:16:06] inqu lot of business, the PMI in Nigeria for for the [00:16:10] last two months have not go below 49, 49 points, you [00:16:14] know, so this is giving that the managers, the business owners are [00:16:18] quite expecting more business to come into the businesses, [00:16:21] you know, so you keep saying that this this [00:16:25] manufacturing company have utilized the stability in the [00:16:29] foring exchange, four exchange is key for them, [00:16:32] importation, foil, energy, [00:16:36] you know, that's why we keep saying that. that if there's a constant power [00:16:39] supply in the country, you see more most of this [00:16:43] manufacturing the buris companies quite doing well in the [00:16:47] financials and cash flow most the the cash flow the financials [00:16:51] have show that the cash flow is quite doing well, the working capital is quite [00:16:55] doing well, most them is not coming for to look for more investors [00:16:59] more looking for okay come on buy more of my store for me to do more business [00:17:03] there's cash flow in the businesses so currently the market pz is quite [00:17:06] doing ' above um um gain of 7%, nigerian [00:17:10] bury, international b is quite doing well, so we've done a lot of valuation [00:17:14] a research and that's part of where you see we sending out [00:17:18] any any result where we give our own [00:17:21] opinion this is one going to happen part of what we did also [00:17:25] was we did a [00:17:26] a forum as last with two two weeks where we we talk to [00:17:30] investors this is where the market is going in the next [00:17:34] 2027 in this half year 2026 also so those [00:17:37] be the are quite doing well and the return was quite massive so [00:17:41] investors can can look into um consumer sector that's why i [00:17:45] said selected consumer sector that have good fundamentals like [00:17:48] you may mentioned nestly pz also have a good [00:17:52] fundamentals and a good cash flow [00:17:54] return mr key jones [00:17:58] head research strategy and korea securities limited thank [00:18:02] you so much for uh joining us on the show really [00:18:06] do appreciate it in interesting conversation, I must [00:18:09] say, thank you so much for always having me. All right, then enjoy [00:18:13] the rest of your day. You too, bye. All right, my next guest is [00:18:17] Mr. Ambrodon, CRO, invest data consulting [00:18:21] uh limited, he also joins me uh for [00:18:24] conversation surrounding markets and of course what we [00:18:27] should uh expect uh moving uh forward. Mr. [00:18:31] Moridon, thank you so much for your time on the show. [00:18:35] Thanks for having me. Yes, I was talking. about the boom, that [00:18:38] gain that we saw uh in the start the month of August with [00:18:42] my earlier guest. now in that sense, I'm asking that should [00:18:46] retail investors view this market gain as a buying [00:18:50] opportunity or is there a risk of profit taking after the [00:18:54] recent rally, what strategy would you [00:18:56] recommend? this is time for investor [00:18:59] to go for revaluing the market, because any given time [00:19:03] market will shall no value to design investor and also smart. [00:19:07] traders, but what you do, we have seen the half year earnings, [00:19:11] we see that has a good numbers, now what you do as investor is that [00:19:15] those number you are seen, is it sustainable, we have seen the q1, you have seen the [00:19:19] q2, you have seen the full year performance of this company, government police has to speak now, is [00:19:23] this one affecting that sector where the company is operating or government policy is in favor of [00:19:27] that sector, once you [00:19:28] to have back your mind you not see where you are because every investment [00:19:32] anyt again the future first is guarantee if [00:19:36] that government policy has favor sector for today know that the high interest [00:19:40] rate is a plus for what for the banking sector that we [00:19:44] high no commodity price especially in industrial [00:19:47] good a plus for what for sment producing company [00:19:49] that year tomorrow to see price drop overnight for 1200 for a bag of [00:19:53] sement to 5,000 that meansly those [00:19:57] have this number was going to [00:19:58] do the same thing at [00:19:58] the end the year what you do you buy into that value right now that we are seeing that [00:20:02] value investor here the fear that market is you know is pulling [00:20:05] back of profit taking you create opportunity for you to enter a good [00:20:09] price, because tell [00:20:10] you that price is the king any market where we are trading, if you know to how to buy [00:20:14] right and sell right, that is where you make money, [00:20:17] you are seeing value in the market, you don't wait until everybody in the market is to buy, you buy, you [00:20:21] are seeing value now, you buy, because when money start coming to the market, prices will go [00:20:25] up, because it is following the money that most investors always do, now that there is [00:20:28] fear in the market gradually because of pulling, say that people are selling because [00:20:32] of coming you know all might see you ipo of [00:20:36] danguti, but [00:20:37] we have... seen the for that offer, you have [00:20:41] not known the kind of share the are raising, if you are selling off and panic [00:20:45] by this time, unless you are taking profit, because if you are in good stock that [00:20:48] fundamental, you can also... your position to [00:20:50] see where is going because don't forget that before now we had [00:20:54] that the the London index as [00:20:57] also included us to come back to to na market [00:21:01] in in September yes you said before that [00:21:05] on the end of August but NGS and and the team has [00:21:09] gone to sort that out if by september without seeing the coming back to the market [00:21:13] yes you might see that there is election around the corner they will trade with caution but I tell [00:21:16] that our market is very dependent on what on local that are not [00:21:20] selling because they understand the of our four years [00:21:24] election for me there's no cost for alarm is the right time for any design investor [00:21:28] to buy into value why smart investor looking at the right price as market correct [00:21:32] or pull back to buy into value at the same time interesting [00:21:36] stuff but looking ahead why you also give us hints of how the market [00:21:40] is fairing today uh looking at the rest of august what [00:21:44] key economic events or coping announcement should investors monitor [00:21:47] that could influence the direction the stock market. Yes, we've talked about the almighty [00:21:51] dang IPO, what more? And of course the performance the [00:21:55] market for today's trading, what are you seeing or [00:21:57] learning? Actually, the market today [00:22:00] look a bit quiet, we are seeing more losers, no than [00:22:04] gainers right now, but investors [00:22:06] i want to call selective, buying buying into value, buying into [00:22:09] expectation, like I believe that the life of pz that gain like almost [00:22:13] 7 e today, because going to release audited account that will come [00:22:17] with reward, the investor has already taken opportunity. and don't forget that most the [00:22:21] res that came from the going to pay three dividend market is also looking at [00:22:25] the right time espcially closer to what the closure day of buy into [00:22:29] them but for the rest of this month in the month of august and month [00:22:33] of September they are very very diving month [00:22:37] for investor but the good news that the people that move the market which [00:22:40] are this investor they don't just see results and start [00:22:43] buying they take time to analyze the result before they come back to the market [00:22:47] this the market is going down they are doing their digesting they [00:22:51] have result when they start coming back because they come with the money they come they [00:22:55] buy more in volume when they start coming to take position because after the [00:22:59] diligent on the numbers and the investment community approved then they not provide [00:23:02] from that buying the will see market coming up but also because we [00:23:06] are not expecting much earnings in the month of august there will be that kind of [00:23:09] oscillation but once you start seeing those investor by into the market [00:23:13] change the direction and also onceso seeing data [00:23:16] especially we have seen a slow down in the month of July for no [00:23:20] for the month of June for inflation if that expected in month of [00:23:24] July 15th of August Paranda 15 16 when it [00:23:28] comes and it's also a pointer and the good thing is that [00:23:31] our policy managers the central [00:23:35] bank they left it of change in the last MPC meeting also most the [00:23:39] matured central bank the world also left to watch what is [00:23:42] happening in the middle east if we seeing oil price [00:23:46] galoping or also also pulling back decide where they are going but now for now because [00:23:50] the peace talk we're [00:23:51] having a price [00:23:52] was delating below no $80 [00:23:54] or under $80 it's a good news for the global economy that means the pressure of of [00:23:58] inflation possible but if they come to agreement we start seeing the [00:24:02] oil price around $60 6765 that means that fe [00:24:06] off globally also gradually you know cool off and that [00:24:10] we are not expect to see r but a case in Nigeria because of election [00:24:14] spending we don't expect to see CBM no kind [00:24:17] of cutting rate now until you no all the general [00:24:21] election by January February is done, they will not see where we are going, [00:24:25] that will not give us that smart investors should buy into value between now and [00:24:28] end the year after the election we to see market taking a good direction, that means [00:24:32] invest for the medium and the long term for now opportunity of short comment [00:24:36] take it and make money but not just panic but buy into value [00:24:40] m thank you so much uh [00:24:44] invest data consulting limited thank you for your time we appreciate it [00:24:48] as always Thanks for having me, thanks for having [00:24:51] me.
