[00:01:10] this is standpoint. i am [00:01:12] theophil. This election features number of [00:01:39] political parties with the major contenders including the incumbent governor Adimola [00:01:43] adiliki [00:01:44] of the [00:01:44] of accord party, the all progressives congress candidate, Bola [00:01:48] Ayubamiji and the African Democratic Congress candidate [00:01:51] Nor [00:01:52] Jim Salam. The contest comes nearly four years after the 2022 [00:01:55] governorship election, which was won by Adiliki [00:01:58] of the people's democratic. party Adelic has [00:02:01] of since moved to the accord party ahead [00:02:04] of of the 2026 election. The Independence National [00:02:08] Electoral Commission has released the time table for the election and [00:02:12] is ever seen preparations, including the deployment of [00:02:15] personnel and [00:02:19] of of election materials across the state. Security is also major [00:02:23] of of part of the preparations with the police and other security agencies expected to provide security [00:02:26] before, during and after the elec'. [00:02:30] the candidate [00:02:31] in has been campaigning or they have been [00:02:34] of campaigning across states uh presenting their [00:02:36] of programs and seeking support from voters [00:02:39] of with the election now approaching attention is [00:02:43] focused on the final stages [00:02:45] of the [00:02:45] of campaign voter participation election day arrangements [00:02:49] and the conduct [00:02:50] of the process across osions 30 local [00:02:53] of government areas now joining me uh to discuss [00:02:57] um this development um is member [00:03:00] of the digital media committee [00:03:01] of the Oshu APC campaign [00:03:16] now days to the election, and um, the APC is [00:03:20] of actually actively campaigning to win the votes [00:03:23] of the people. Tell me now, what exactly is [00:03:26] of the APC selling to the people of Forsum [00:03:29] na States? Is it a? vision for the states or simply a [00:03:32] campaign against [00:03:36] of adilik? new vision: [00:03:40] we have a manifesto titled the [00:03:43] prosper agenda, the prosper [00:03:47] agenda, we came about the manifesto [00:03:50] going into the 30 local government areas in [00:03:55] a states and one area office. first of [00:03:58] all, before we we started our campaign, we went into [00:04:02] the communities, into the towns, partnering with [00:04:06] residents, asking questions, we set up a [00:04:10] of research team who went into all the villages, [00:04:13] all the communities, all the towns, schools [00:04:17] and everywhere across the state, who [00:04:20] has the people what they want from their [00:04:23] government, we also [00:04:25] in asked them what their needs are, and so we were able to [00:04:29] gather. is and then [00:04:31] you know it became document which we call the [00:04:35] prosper which is the prosperity for all [00:04:39] so with starting our campaigns what we were doing is [00:04:43] that we have listened to your hearness we [00:04:46] of have had your complaints we we want to attend [00:04:49] to your needs and so what we've been doing in our campaign across the [00:04:53] state is that if you have asked if [00:04:57] from [00:04:57] of what they have asked us you know to for [00:05:00] of them for what they have demanded from their government, what we are doing is [00:05:04] that [00:05:04] we are telling them how we are going to do it, [00:05:07] how um we are going to achieve all [00:05:11] of of these things when... vote the APC at [00:05:14] the August 15 elections and we are not just [00:05:18] campaigning, we are ensuring that we are answering [00:05:22] questions from the good people the stream, we are not just [00:05:25] campaigning, we are giving them hope, we are showing them and [00:05:29] we are telling them that the coming APC government [00:05:33] by November 27 after the elections will [00:05:36] do all that we have asked for, and that's [00:05:40] exactly what we have been doing since started our [00:05:43] campaigns across the states. All right, so now [00:05:46] the the APC um wants to reclaim Osum state [00:05:50] now. Tell me what is the biggest failure [00:05:54] the President administration and what do you believe gives your party [00:05:58] an edge over this present [00:05:59] administration? [00:06:04] You know, like I said, as you going about people have asked [00:06:08] questions and one the major complaints [00:06:11] uh... the people of Ash in the last three [00:06:15] and a half years is that [00:06:17] the current governor has not taken [00:06:20] governance [00:06:22] if outside [00:06:25] of state today and the people of state once the [00:06:28] name shen state comes to mind anywhere the first thing [00:06:32] that comes to mind is that ocean state has a dancing [00:06:36] govens and that's not in good reputation about the [00:06:40] state the living sp and so that's the complaints that the [00:06:44] people have had, that's one, two, the people have seen [00:06:47] that with the mongols federal allocation [00:06:51] coming to the state, it has not been utilized very well [00:06:55] for the people, you heard about the [00:06:57] financial that the investigation started in march [00:07:01] this year, and so we've also seen that the current [00:07:04] administration has engaged in you [00:07:07] know lot of nepotism, what do we [00:07:11] mean by nepotism? majority the government [00:07:15] appointees are from the town from where [00:07:19] the governor is from, we have also sen in recent times [00:07:23] that the infrastructures that the president [00:07:27] administration has done, for example out the total 20 rows that [00:07:31] the governor has done, 13 out the 20 rows [00:07:34] are you know situated in are being [00:07:38] constructed in end, so what you now have in? [00:07:43] presently and what the people are saying is that this is the [00:07:46] government of ed for people also we have [00:07:50] seen that majority the strategic appointments that have been [00:07:54] made by this present government we see that [00:07:58] person the appointed are from or from the [00:08:02] addilic family for example the current governor has [00:08:06] two them let's let's [00:08:09] not i understand "I [00:08:13] understand that yes, this is campaign period, but let's not dwell on the [00:08:17] the the governor himself, let's dwell on the APC and the governance [00:08:20] and what you bring to the table, looking at [00:08:24] all uh your campaign slogans and you found that you talked [00:08:28] about new Ashhum state now beyond slogans and campaign rallies, [00:08:32] what are the APC's three biggest priorities for the people of [00:08:36] Ashum stative [00:08:36] elected? [00:08:41] You don't, I've told you that..." we went about before [00:08:44] we started went into town, but [00:08:48] the biggest stories that people said you want their [00:08:52] government, number one is agriculture, number [00:08:56] one is agriculture, the people of this [00:08:59] state, state could be said to be an alvarian [00:09:02] state, whereeb if you look at if you [00:09:06] look at [00:09:07] you will see that wes especially [00:09:10] apart from we were deriving our you know [00:09:14] we deriving our major majority of our [00:09:18] revenues back then was through [00:09:21] agriculture and so what is happening presently is that the [00:09:25] state government has neglected agriculture so people have [00:09:28] said that government needs to [00:09:32] encourage farmers, government needs to encourage farm so we [00:09:35] have said that candidates the candidates [00:09:39] of have promise met with farmers [00:09:42] you farmers all far Association of Nigeria have [00:09:45] met choice with the governor during this campaign and they have tableed the [00:09:49] request to the governor and the governor is attended to that's number one number two is [00:09:53] the health [00:09:55] the area [00:09:56] of health we have [00:09:57] also said people have complain that health - [00:10:01] state ranks number 11 in Nigeria when it [00:10:04] comes to health presently and do not forget it's on record and the [00:10:08] fact that while the last administration the APC of his [00:10:11] excellency. [00:10:25] number three is education top priority now that our government to [00:10:29] number three is education we have seen that last [00:10:33] organization 1500 teachers across the [00:10:36] state, the current governmentts all those teachers [00:10:40] via an executive order and if you go to our schools in [00:10:44] presently we lack good infrastructure, we lack good [00:10:48] teachers and thereb [00:10:49] education [00:10:56] of government, agriculture, health and the [00:10:59] education, so let me take you up on agriculture, since oshon [00:11:03] state is a largely agrarian state, and earlier you had mentioned the [00:11:07] farmers met with the governor, it means that, but let me correct you, the farmers met [00:11:11] with the governorship candidates the APC, since the APC [00:11:14] candidate has met with the farmers, how does the party [00:11:18] or the the party rather turn plan to turn [00:11:21] agriculture from subsistence farming into? serious [00:11:25] source of jobs and wealth [00:11:26] creation, [00:11:30] mechanized. okay, so in our manifesto, what [00:11:34] we have, what, what we have in our manifesto is [00:11:37] that first of all, government will [00:11:40] provide farming [00:11:44] implements such as for example, like tractors [00:11:48] for for farmers and because these are being their [00:11:52] complaints and all of that. the government will also [00:11:56] present farm [00:12:00] imputes such as fertilizers, sidlings and so [00:12:04] on and so forth for farmers, because these have been their requests. let's [00:12:08] also see, one the things we also do is that [00:12:11] iki state is very close to state, we have also [00:12:15] seen what the governor state, have done [00:12:19] in state as regards farming and there is [00:12:22] nothing bad if you copy what is good from others so are [00:12:26] you saying are you saying [00:12:28] that the governorship are you saying that the governor are are you saying the governor [00:12:31] president is doing nothing about agriculture absolutely [00:12:35] nothing i'm telling you you can you [00:12:39] can do your research about it this government has not done anything [00:12:42] when it comes to agriculture in the last three and a half [00:12:46] years nothing you have done you can do your research as well we [00:12:50] also see that from the current the governor [00:12:53] of state as in invested everyly [00:12:56] agriculture and these are some the things that he has [00:13:00] done is to ensure that you support farmers during [00:13:03] planting season by you by the way of clearing the firms [00:13:07] for them and then we also have a plan in when it comes to [00:13:11] agriculture to support and to fund coperative [00:13:15] societies for farmers all right and when we do that because like i [00:13:18] said these are the things have brought forward to to the [00:13:22] APC these are their complaints and ready to [00:13:25] assist and support them and also [00:13:28] you know by that way when [00:13:30] you invest in agriculture you are also doing way of [00:13:34] ensuring food security in the state and through the [00:13:38] agricultural value you will be able to provide jobs as [00:13:41] well all right so just hold your thought there we'll go a quick break [00:13:45] um is talking to us on um matters arising in the [00:13:49] oshoon state election of course is member the all progressives congress [00:13:53] in Oshin State will go for quick break and when we return we'll have some [00:13:57] more discussions with him, it's still [00:13:58] standpoint. [00:14:28] you're watching standpoint and our guest is still [00:14:31] is [00:14:35] the a member digital media committee ashun APC campaign council, he is live with us, [00:14:38] vsim ushugbu talking about matters arising with [00:14:42] the elections in nation state and of course we um we're still [00:14:46] talking to him now the electorate will be asking what [00:14:50] will change in their daily lives with the APC wins [00:14:54] what's your clearest answer to that [00:14:56] question, [00:15:02] do not forget [00:15:02] that I said, we do sincerely apologize with the [00:15:06] network issues happening there, but was talking to us [00:15:09] about the plans the all progressives congress in [00:15:12] Oshin status, they try to wrestle power [00:15:16] with other political parties, including your court [00:15:19] party, can you hear me [00:15:21] now? [00:15:25] Yes, oh good, the audio is quite clear because we're having issues with the audio. [00:15:29] Now, let's hear your line of thoughts regarding the question I asked tearlier, [00:15:33] what will change in the daily lives of the residents of Washen [00:15:37] State? the APC wins um the elections [00:15:39] okay so with [00:15:43] the intervention the APC government will be the intervention [00:15:47] the APC government food security [00:15:50] be secure there will be food security and then the agricultural value [00:15:54] chain we also provide jobs for people [00:15:56] farmers do their farms with the support from [00:16:00] the government and then going into educational sector i said that [00:16:03] schools infrastructure education infrastructure will be upgraded [00:16:07] new ones will [00:16:08] be built and then the APC government we employ teachers [00:16:12] and train the existing ones and the new ones and also that what that [00:16:15] means is that the educational sector, the primary, the basic education [00:16:19] and the secondary education will be upgraded, and [00:16:23] then copies as students we have learning [00:16:27] and conducive environment to learn, and also I mentioned the health sector [00:16:31] whereby there will be adequate and efficient [00:16:34] healthcare service delivery, we also... the [00:16:38] APC also have in their manifesto an energy road [00:16:42] map which will ensure adequate power [00:16:45] supply in the state we set up is separate [00:16:48] committee for that energy roadmap which will ensure [00:16:52] that electricity will improve and that [00:16:55] will also affect small and medium scale [00:16:58] enterprises will also affect artisans and [00:17:02] everyone m all of this all of [00:17:06] this plans but [00:17:07] "a lot of people have said the problem we have as a country is not about [00:17:11] making laws or making plans, it's about [00:17:13] implementation. how does the APC [00:17:17] plan implement all of this um plans they have for the [00:17:21] people of ours [00:17:22] state? [00:17:26] you know, i said earlier that going about our [00:17:30] campaigns, we didn't just sit down, somewhere in the [00:17:33] room to write our manifesto, [00:17:35] you know, i have said that. we wrote this manifesto [00:17:39] based on the needs the [00:17:42] people, we wrote this manifesto based [00:17:46] on the needs or the demands from the people, so what we have [00:17:50] been doing across of state during our campaign is [00:17:54] how implement all these demands which you have [00:17:58] demanded from us, so implementing them, one the things that will help us [00:18:02] is that if you look at around the states now states [00:18:05] allocations, are now doubled [00:18:09] some or tripled some four times now [00:18:12] because one the major [00:18:15] you know [00:18:16] you know one of major needs of any state [00:18:19] government or any government is financing one [00:18:23] the things that are speed development in states in the [00:18:27] past is that you know there have not been enough money and all [00:18:30] of that and so now that states now have [00:18:33] and states people have complaints that [00:18:38] the the allocations of revenue in state, the income [00:18:41] state with the performance the current valutation, [00:18:45] there are no commensurat, if you put them side by [00:18:49] side, they are not commensurat, so and that's one the things that will help [00:18:52] us the federal government allocation, and then by the [00:18:56] time one the plans is that the APC [00:19:00] plans to bring in investors, either local investors or foreign [00:19:04] investors into the space to ensure job. and [00:19:08] then by the time we have enough money in finances, [00:19:12] allocation of revenue, all these will be [00:19:14] implemented. governor adelik is [00:19:18] campaigning on his record and as unveild a five points [00:19:21] agenda for his second term. um, what is the APC's [00:19:25] strongest counter argument to that record? now for the [00:19:28] record, he he talked about integration, integrated youth, women [00:19:32] and workers welfare, infrastructure consolidation for [00:19:36] citizens, agro. industrial expansion, affordable [00:19:39] qualitative health and education access, um, improved and [00:19:43] secured business environment for job creation. for you, [00:19:47] do you think he has lived up to that bidding, and if not, what is the APC's [00:19:51] strongest counter argument to [00:19:52] that? [00:19:56] well, we have said again, and I'll keep [00:20:00] repeating again, that have gone around. I am aus state [00:20:04] presently and I've been in state, I live in state. and then [00:20:07] know what the people are saying with all that promises, the present [00:20:11] administration has filled in his promises and how is [00:20:15] it you know how is [00:20:19] attending to that? we have told that people again, we are not [00:20:23] just making promises. for example, during this [00:20:26] election, during this campaign season, there are little one or [00:20:30] two things that the APC have started doing [00:20:33] across, in some communities and towns. [00:20:37] aspect the show, the APC campaign [00:20:41] council have even graded some roads that are unmterable and then they [00:20:45] are now motorable already, so implementation won't be a [00:20:48] problem and again, one the things that we are banking on is a [00:20:52] candidate a candidate is experienced both in public [00:20:56] sector and the private sector, he has been in the [00:21:00] banking sector for over the decades and then in the [00:21:03] in the public sector since 2012 so we have the the [00:21:07] candidate the APC have [00:21:11] the experience we have been tested in diff when [00:21:15] came has in you know [00:21:18] in the system 12 and so this is what the APC is banking [00:21:22] to ensure that whatever promises we have made during this [00:21:25] campaign will definitely refuel this promises. so [00:21:29] let's talk about your candidate quickly, but we are we are out of time [00:21:32] actually, he he's asking for Ash voters to entrust him [00:21:36] with the state, what makes him different from other political [00:21:40] alternative before the electorate? just [00:21:41] quickly, [00:21:45] experience and capacity. again, I said earlier [00:21:49] that... he is experienced b is financial [00:21:52] expert and is a good manager of resources while [00:21:56] the first thing he had in public sector is that it was [00:22:00] general of state investment [00:22:04] corporation limited 400 million watts of asset he [00:22:08] raised to 6 billion [00:22:12] before he became the commissioner for finance twice and [00:22:15] then so what makes him different from others is [00:22:19] exp and capacity to manage [00:22:23] resources well and adequately, that's what makes [00:22:27] it differ. thank you so much for talking to [00:22:30] us, quite an interesting discussion, thank you very much for talking to [00:22:33] us, thank [00:22:37] you [00:22:37] to [00:22:41] you, well that's it on the program standpoint today, of course thank you very [00:22:45] much for watching us, you can watch us quite later in the day on our all [00:22:49] our other platform. forms youtube and of course you watch out, you can watch us [00:22:53] again tomorrow morning on TBC News.
