[00:00:24] me [00:00:34] in Nigerian politics, the backing of state governors can be a [00:00:38] significant factor in shaping apart electural strategy, mobilizing [00:00:42] its political structure and consolidating support across [00:00:45] regions. The six APC [00:00:47] of governors in the north central region have endorsed president and [00:00:51] vice president Kashim Shatima for second term in 2027. The [00:00:55] endsment brings Benwe Kogi Kwasarawa Niger and [00:00:58] of Plato states into [00:00:59] of a collective. of support for the president's re-election bid, but [00:01:03] beyond the declaration of support, what political calculations [00:01:06] underpin this decision, how does the endorsement feet into APC's broader [00:01:10] strategy, and what does it tell us about the relationship between regional political [00:01:14] interest and the president's ambition for second term, these are the [00:01:17] issues we [00:01:19] of examine of tonight on politics tonight, welcome and thank you very much for joining us, I'll be right [00:01:22] back. [00:01:36] of Thank you for staying with us, let me begin by saying [00:01:40] the endorsement of uh President Bola T and Vice President [00:01:44] Kashim Shetima by the sixth APC governors in the north central region is [00:01:47] significant for more than one reason, first [00:01:50] of it's demonstrates that the president has important political [00:01:53] of allies within his party who are prepared to publicly associate [00:01:57] themselves with this beat for second [00:01:59] of term but from the endorsement itself, there are bigger questions about what it [00:02:02] means for the APC, what are the north central uh [00:02:06] of expect, what the north [00:02:07] of central expects from the administration and how this political declaration [00:02:11] will be received by ordinary nigerians, first you consider the [00:02:15] issue of party [00:02:19] of of unity, but let's to this report and i'll be right of back gardrain of APC faithful from [00:02:23] across the north central states and the federal capital territory [00:02:27] abuja united in their [00:02:29] of support of for the rally [00:02:33] provided a platform for party leaders and [00:02:36] of of supporters to reaffirm the commitment to the president second term [00:02:39] ambition. they are also mobilizing support for APC [00:02:43] candidates at all levels in the 2027 [00:02:46] election. according to these governors, the end [00:02:50] reflects their reserve to work together to secure victory for the president and [00:02:53] the [00:02:54] of party. the governor [00:02:58] of state. second the [00:03:01] motion [00:03:04] that all the [00:03:08] APC, the central states of [00:03:11] benway, plateau, [00:03:16] of [00:03:17] of niger, as well as [00:03:21] of FCT for a [00:03:24] man was actually [00:03:28] improved. our oil [00:03:30] production for less than 1 million to now [00:03:34] 1.8 million barral per day, a [00:03:38] man who has introduced nfund for [00:03:42] of education, a man who has introduced all the infrastructure that you are [00:03:47] of [00:03:47] of seeing, asula, [00:03:50] ahmed for the second channel and i [00:03:55] of saw second, the chairman [00:03:57] of the progressive governors forum and govern of emo state. also assured [00:04:01] that APC governors across the country would work collectively to [00:04:04] secure the president reelection on behalf [00:04:07] of the leadership of our great forum, I want to inform [00:04:10] you also that 31 governors of [00:04:14] APC are committed to [00:04:18] reelecting president and make our [00:04:22] party the strongest and greatest party in [00:04:26] black and white africa, the secretary to the government [00:04:29] of the federation [00:04:30] of or Nigerians to reject what he described as the politics [00:04:33] of the seat and on the people [00:04:35] of the zone to rally behind President as the region's preferred [00:04:38] presidential [00:04:40] of candidates today as waju [00:04:43] is expected to be on that throne for [00:04:47] eight years in 2031 [00:04:51] of northerners of can float [00:04:52] of over 1000 candidates to anybody from the [00:04:55] north who is running for president today is not [00:04:59] sincere. and reject him [00:05:01] 100%, don't accept him, mr. president has [00:05:05] done what no president has done for not [00:05:08] central, we will stand with him, we work with him. [00:05:13] we vote for him from top to [00:05:16] bottom we support the APC because of [00:05:19] president bola. Nigeria's first [00:05:23] lady, Senator described the rally as [00:05:26] demonstration of unity, particularly among women whom she [00:05:30] said had crucial role to play in mobilizing support for the [00:05:34] president and other APC candidates in 2027. The great [00:05:37] people of north central zone for we want you [00:05:41] to take this. message home for a stronger [00:05:44] economy, that this government is going to [00:05:48] build stronger economy, safer [00:05:51] communities, a greater Nigeria, so vote for [00:05:54] continuity, vote for capacity, vote for [00:05:58] prosperity, vote for the reelection of Mr. [00:06:02] President and all the candidates, beyond the [00:06:05] endorsement by the party regional leaders, the north central grass [00:06:08] mobilization network play to take the campaign to the grass [00:06:13] with a commitment to mobilizing support for the president reelection [00:06:16] bid. Godwing agwam, TVC [00:06:20] News, lafia. Thank you very much God for [00:06:24] that report. So tonight, let's speak with Kings the Flow, commissioner for [00:06:27] information states on this latest development. Mr. [00:06:31] F, thank you very much for joining me on this on the program, what is [00:06:35] this endorsement uh really mean? [00:06:37] I mean, yes in Nigerian politics a presidential reelection campaign is [00:06:41] not built. by the presidency alone, it requires the support of [00:06:44] governors, law makers, party leaders, gratuit [00:06:48] mobilizers and the like, so when six APC governors from benwei, [00:06:51] kogi, wara, nasara, platu publicly endorse the presidents, [00:06:55] what kind of message are they sending across? thank you [00:06:59] very much for having me, and it's always a very great [00:07:02] pleasure to speak on the reelection the [00:07:06] best president in the history of nigeria [00:07:08] president means what is [00:07:13] in Latvia on Saturday, what it means is very big [00:07:17] statement from the great people the North Central [00:07:21] to appreciate what Mr. President has been able to [00:07:24] do, and you can count on the governors, you could see the governors were [00:07:28] there, all them passing vote of confidence, and the chairman the [00:07:32] progressive governor from the fatigable, [00:07:35] governors of declaring on behalf of all the [00:07:39] governors, the support the 31 governors the see for [00:07:43] the president, what i means is that the governors are with their [00:07:47] people, the people the north central have never had it so [00:07:50] good. in terms of infrastructure, you could see [00:07:54] what mr. president has been able to do [00:07:56] in the north central, the road, the corridor from abuja [00:08:00] to lokoja to kene to bein that was considered [00:08:04] non-viable in the past is now viable, the president is fixing it [00:08:08] already with concrete engineering technology to ensure that [00:08:11] that place becomes very beautiful road, it's ongoing as [00:08:15] we speak, if you look also in Kogi State, you [00:08:19] talk about the Kaba, road is receiving [00:08:23] attention as we speak, work is ongoing there, if you look at [00:08:27] the akuanga just section the [00:08:30] 700 kms that is going to maiduri through gombe bauchi like [00:08:34] that, 125 km from akuanga uh [00:08:38] to js has also been flagged off, lot of this is going on [00:08:42] in the north central, as we speak, we are talking about having a [00:08:46] $250 million dollar lithium mining and [00:08:50] processing project in the north central, this is unprecedented in the [00:08:53] history of Nigeria, and you can also go to talk [00:08:57] about uh what the creation the north [00:09:00] central development commission, no president in the past [00:09:04] thought about giving north central an identity until [00:09:07] president came, he has given us an identity, [00:09:11] he has brought the development closer to our people and the people are now [00:09:15] feeling the impact of his governance. are you going to talk about the [00:09:18] revenue expansion that has gone to the subnationals because [00:09:22] of his lofty policies that is enabling many people [00:09:26] who are complaining now about this subsidy of a [00:09:30] thing, they they do not understand what we went [00:09:34] through before now, states were struggling to pay [00:09:37] salaries, many governors were scandalized for not paying [00:09:41] salaries, but they did not find out the fact that what was coming from [00:09:45] the federation account and what they were generating were not even enough to [00:09:49] pay salaries. now states could pay salaries, state could [00:09:53] execute loadable projects that have direct impact [00:09:57] on the people. is it the nil fund that the children of [00:10:00] Nigeria, including those the North Central are benefiting from, [00:10:04] you can go on and on and on. the north [00:10:07] central in 2027 will make [00:10:11] very, very... very solid statement, we make very [00:10:15] loud statement to Nigeria, to the world that we are [00:10:19] grateful and that we want what the president is doing to continue [00:10:23] beyond 2027. All right. Yes, you say the governors are with your [00:10:26] people, but you know there's an important distinction here, Mr. [00:10:30] Fow, and endorsement is a political statement, not an [00:10:34] election result. I mean, this just tells us where the governor stand, but it [00:10:37] does not, you automatically tell us where every member the party or every [00:10:41] voter in your state stands, uh, the real test will be [00:10:45] whether this political alignment can be translated [00:10:48] into an elective campaign that persuades voters, [00:10:52] Nigerians to support the president, am I correct or? so is the real test [00:10:56] about how united your party is across the [00:10:59] region? [00:11:01] the APC is very united, you lot of people were talking about [00:11:04] implion when a party gets um as strong as [00:11:08] APC is today, [00:11:10] you know, but what we are witnessing NPC is that [00:11:13] unity of purpose. you could see all of our leaders, you could see the national chairman, you [00:11:17] could see all of our governance uh coming together for a common [00:11:21] purpose. you could see all the stakeholders within the APC. coming [00:11:25] together for a common purpose. the statement you saw, what you [00:11:29] saw in Latvia is a statement [00:11:33] from the north central people, it's it's not just even about the governors [00:11:36] alone. you could see how enthusiastic the people were, you could [00:11:40] see how grateful the people were, you could see how excited they [00:11:44] were. so even today in Kogi state, the [00:11:48] pbat movement, you could see the rally, you could see the people, so it is [00:11:52] all over the north central uh that you have. this kind [00:11:56] of um mammot support for Mr. President, [00:11:59] so now when you talk about it cascading to the grass road, [00:12:03] this is very simple thing, we have talked about [00:12:05] nelfond, nelfond [00:12:08] is masterpiece, it is [00:12:12] master stroke, and you see the children the [00:12:15] poor who could not go to [00:12:19] school because they could not afford it, now can go to [00:12:22] school, now so... subsidy was [00:12:26] a scam, it was the scam that the rich was [00:12:30] using to siphon the resources the country, now it has [00:12:34] been stopped and now [00:12:36] the the poor are benefiting from it, is it about the road that the people are [00:12:40] benefiting from? is it about the primary healthcare [00:12:44] centers across the country? i can talk about the ones [00:12:47] in over 200 ongoing with staff [00:12:50] quarters, with facilities, with water powered by solar, not even [00:12:55] depending on the national greek, this is going to the [00:12:58] grassroots and when the president mets with [00:13:02] the stakeholders during the neck meeting, he said that, i have done my [00:13:06] own, i have been able to get lot of resources across [00:13:09] to the states, it is your turn to do your own, by allowing it to [00:13:13] reach the grassroot, and now it is reaching the grassroot, the [00:13:17] grassrooters, the grassroot people the north central will [00:13:21] ensure that mr. president gets nothing less than 95%, forget the... [00:13:25] the opponent, [00:13:28] I'm talking, I'm talking about the opponent opponents, Mr. F. what message does this send [00:13:32] to other presidential contenders? I mean, alubakar for [00:13:36] instance, is the most popular northers, slogging it out or about to slog [00:13:40] it out again with President Timbu, so if article tells [00:13:43] nothing else, I understand your region, I'm your son and I've been part of [00:13:47] government before, what is your answer to that [00:13:50] argument? thank you very much, the [00:13:53] the the argument of what it say, i think the [00:13:57] opponents, those that are contending with [00:14:00] president, after watching the rally [00:14:04] in Lafia on Saturday, after seeing what happened in [00:14:07] Lokodia today, I think they should begin to give [00:14:11] up, you know, Nigeria is very, um, [00:14:15] Nigeria is very, it's a very [00:14:18] delicate, contraption, let me put it that way, [00:14:21] politically, there is arrangements. [00:14:25] the south and the north, the north [00:14:29] will do eight years, it will come back to the south, the south we [00:14:33] also do eight years, and now what [00:14:37] is going to stop a performing president from doing his eight years, [00:14:41] so these opponents that we are talking about, [00:14:43] you know, what they are doing is campaign of calumny, trying to get us [00:14:47] angry, disrespecting Mr. President, saying all sort of [00:14:50] things, but what we are doing is to work with the grassroot [00:14:54] people, who will deliver the votes in January, and come [00:14:58] January, after that election, I will come back to this studio and I will [00:15:02] remind you what I told you that the north central would [00:15:05] deliver massively to president. All [00:15:09] right, and let's also um examine the question of [00:15:13] continuity, because I mean just as you said earlier, one the consequences [00:15:17] the president's reforms that doesn't get enough public [00:15:21] attention is that states now have more revenue at the... [00:15:25] sposar: so if the argument is um for this reforms is [00:15:28] ultimately about changing lives, people's lives, mr. f, what should i [00:15:32] just be looking for at the state level between now and 2027 to know [00:15:36] that you? "all of this increased revenue is actually making a [00:15:39] difference. I do not agree that we are not [00:15:43] talking enough about it. um, in fact, what [00:15:47] is coming out the resources, those things are doing the [00:15:51] talking? well, we do not have to come to the [00:15:54] television station to [00:15:56] say, oh, we've gotten lot of money, and this, no, the [00:15:59] people are saying it. let tell you, [00:16:03] 2027 is going to be the most consequential [00:16:06] political..." year in the history of Nigeria and Nigerians [00:16:10] would speak, Nigerians would speak to the issue of performance, [00:16:14] Nigerians would speak to the issue of a president [00:16:18] who deared to to do the reforms that others were [00:16:21] afraid of because of political correctness. Now let's look at [00:16:25] the effects in cogistate for instance, I just [00:16:29] told you over 200 primary healthcare centers are [00:16:33] being removed and upgraded so that some the [00:16:36] simple things. [00:16:37] you do you take to the general hospital, you can now do it [00:16:40] in your villages, they don't have to depend on the national [00:16:43] grid, is going with water, is going with solar [00:16:47] power, is going with all the facilities that is needed in all of those [00:16:51] primary healthcare centers, they were not seen all these things [00:16:54] before, now they are seen it, because the reforms is bringing [00:16:58] more resources to the people, is it about the roads that have [00:17:02] been done, is it about the schools, is it about all other facilities that have been [00:17:05] provided, the people are saying? different, they will say that salary is a [00:17:09] given, salary is very simple thing, yeah, it is an entitlement the [00:17:13] worker to be paid, but where the states able to [00:17:17] pay, more than 25 states could not pay salaries [00:17:21] until came with his reforms that [00:17:25] are free the resources that were being stolen through this [00:17:28] through the the the the f subsidy regime, [00:17:32] now the people could benefit from it, when you pay salary to a worker, the rural [00:17:36] economy the man selling y, the woman selling [00:17:40] iru, the woman selling magi will be able to sell, so you are boosting the rural [00:17:44] economy, that is what, that is what paying [00:17:47] salaries does to the rural economy, and states are able [00:17:51] to pay now, states are able to execute projects that touch the grass people [00:17:55] and the people directly, states are giving bry, people are [00:17:58] benefiting and nigerians are rejoicing and in january, it is [00:18:02] not going to be about their propaganda, it's going to be about the fact about a [00:18:06] man. and we be reelected all right, I'm talking about Kugi States, just [00:18:10] before I came on air, I saw that um the states just inaugurated [00:18:14] its pbat dot door uh state executives, I wonder [00:18:18] what difference this would make uh compared to other APC local [00:18:22] structures, thank you very much, you could see [00:18:25] that the peop door to door movement is done [00:18:29] by high chief it's the convener high [00:18:33] chief uh government popularly campulu and you [00:18:37] has been able to move around the state and to inaugurate the to [00:18:41] galvanize support, you could see my governor there [00:18:44] jumping up and a friend called me and said energy choke, people are [00:18:48] excited, people are ready, people are ready to go [00:18:52] to ensure that uh uh president b is [00:18:55] reelected, [00:18:56] what is the group going to do? we are all involved in the activities the group [00:19:00] and uh you know we are going to work with all the support groups, we have so many [00:19:04] support groups, nigerans are excited, lot of support groups as... bringing [00:19:08] up to drum support for Mr. President, and we can assure you [00:19:11] that this group is going to work with all the other support groups from [00:19:15] a synergy that will deliver presidentubu in [00:19:19] 2027. All right, let's go back to the reforms quickly, Mr. [00:19:23] F. because I mean one thing we must [00:19:26] understand is that you [00:19:28] know the reforms of this administration are already being discussed [00:19:31] extensively uh for young Nigerians and I'm very particular [00:19:35] about this because I know the president is also very... very particular about this, the country has [00:19:39] very entrepreneurial youth population and in the last three years [00:19:43] i've seen the way Mr. President is so particularly about how [00:19:46] you know these great demographic strength becomes an engine of production rather than [00:19:50] source of despair, those are his words to be very specific, and it's talked [00:19:54] about talent, it's talked about energy and ambition among young [00:19:58] Nigerians, yes we're not where we used to be, but some young [00:20:01] businesses are still struggling with financing, and they're still struggling with logistics [00:20:05] and access to market. which these constraints is this [00:20:09] administration tackling most aggressively? [00:20:13] thank you very much. i think the issue of engaging the youth [00:20:16] population the [00:20:17] of country, the youth is the most is [00:20:21] the is the most cherished resource of of any country with the energy, with the [00:20:24] intellect, with with the dynamism with which they [00:20:28] could redefine and galbanize the economy to [00:20:32] growth. what the present administration is doing is to [00:20:36] ensure that our youth. are empower, I think we are not [00:20:39] talking about this enough, there are a lot of schemes that are [00:20:43] empowering young entrepreneurs a federal level, [00:20:47] also a state level, I can tell... you that because the [00:20:51] improved revenue to kogi state for instance, we've been able to train [00:20:55] a lot of our young people, [00:20:57] you know what the governor said during the [00:21:01] commissioning of a company yesterday is [00:21:05] that he is building c state in which the [00:21:09] private sector we employ more people than the public sector, that [00:21:13] is how to drive growth, and that [00:21:15] is what we are doing in cogistate, we are training youth, we are not just training [00:21:19] them, with them, we have registered their [00:21:23] companies for them in CAC, we have bought kits for them, [00:21:26] and we have set them up to be able to start their businesses, when you do [00:21:30] this, you are galvanizing the economy. Kogi would not have been able [00:21:34] to do this five years ago because the [00:21:38] kind of very small resources coming to the state, but today we [00:21:42] can do that. tens of our youths [00:21:45] are are currently in Abuja learning how to to make [00:21:49] jeweleries. "you know the these people are potential millionaires in [00:21:52] future, we are putting, we are giving them accommodation, we are giving them allowances, we [00:21:56] are paying for their training and we are going to set them up when they are done, that [00:22:00] is what is happening across board, most states, [00:22:04] especially APC states, because we have a platform through [00:22:07] which we look at this together, most apc states are doing [00:22:11] this to be able to get lot of our young people, [00:22:14] fighting criminality is not through guns alone, we have [00:22:18] to be able empower the..." and take them [00:22:21] off, the the pool through which [00:22:24] criminal recruit system will be cutil, so we [00:22:28] are doing lot across the APC states and government is doing lot empower [00:22:32] the youths and empower the women, develop entrepreneurship and you could see that the [00:22:36] private sector is developing, you could see the report that just came the [00:22:40] macroeconomy of our country is improving, that is what they don't [00:22:43] want to know, that's what we keep telling them, but quickly mr. you now the president has [00:22:47] argued that some the difficult being implemented [00:22:51] today are necessary to correct structural problems that have [00:22:54] accumulated over decades, where should the line be drawn [00:22:58] between the challenges this administration has created or [00:23:01] failed to resolve and those it inherited from successive [00:23:05] governments? i thank you very much, you could see [00:23:08] that the federal government, see what [00:23:12] our economy could be liken to a [00:23:15] cancer, and you going through [00:23:18] kemo... could be very [00:23:22] traumatic thing, but that is one the ways [00:23:26] through which you could reduce the pains that cancer [00:23:30] patients go through. now he has done the [00:23:34] reforms, yes, the reforms will bring certain [00:23:37] challenges and and difficulty. yes, lot of things are [00:23:41] also being done to cousion this effect. that is [00:23:45] why you could see that Nelfon came into being, you could [00:23:49] see that, we are working on making transportation cheap, you [00:23:52] could even when in the olden days where they use chloroquin for [00:23:56] malaria patients, they give them puritin so that it will cushion [00:24:00] the effect of that chloroquin, the federal government has been given the [00:24:03] puritin because we know that this reforms in the next [00:24:07] couple of years is going to rebound nigeria to her glory, but [00:24:11] before then we the federal government and the [00:24:14] subnationals are putting in place measures to cushion this [00:24:18] effect, for instance in stage, you could say [00:24:21] that education is now free and [00:24:25] compulsory from primary school to secondary school, even [00:24:28] examination fees, the federal, the state government is the one pay, and when you get to the [00:24:32] high institution, we are also paying bry, granting scholarship is to [00:24:36] pushing the effect of all of this, it is going to get to a time [00:24:40] that our economy will be strong enough in such [00:24:44] a way that most the things that the state governments are doing, [00:24:47] private sector, will be able to be able to take all of [00:24:51] those things and be able to collaborate with government [00:24:55] to be able to deliver all of this, so we understand the pains, as [00:24:59] a party, everything to pushing [00:25:03] the pains and talking about pains, mr. f quickly before i let you go, [00:25:07] before now there's been this conversation about alleged [00:25:10] marginalization, mean for decades some noseners have complained [00:25:13] about marginalization and infrastructure [00:25:17] neglects, now you have an administration spending billions [00:25:21] on major northern corridors and connectivity, is it fair [00:25:24] uh to president for the same region to receive these investments and still [00:25:28] maintain that the federal government does not care about [00:25:31] enough? i do not think so, [00:25:35] you know, before now we used to talk about a monolithic north, [00:25:39] but now we are getting our identity, there is not [00:25:43] west, there is not east, there is not central, [00:25:45] president came, he realized that not central. [00:25:51] was only useful when it comes to politics, when it comes [00:25:55] to other things, they would marginalize and neglect the north [00:25:58] central, now everybody is having a sense of belonging, we now..." have our [00:26:02] own development commission, we are having a lot of projects that are going on, I've told [00:26:06] you about it, just the akuanga to just is 125 kilometers, [00:26:10] it has been flagged off, the entire length of that is about [00:26:14] 700 kilometers going through Bochi [00:26:17] to Maiduri, now apart from that [00:26:21] look at investment in security, you could say that in the northeast [00:26:25] and northwest significantly security has improved, [00:26:29] in the north central the the president conf' fted it [00:26:33] head on in Kogi, wara, Niger and all of other not central [00:26:37] states, we could see security, we could see development, we could see a [00:26:41] sense of belonging, so we are not, we are northerners, we [00:26:44] agree, we are northerners, we are now saying as northerners that we [00:26:48] are not marginalized, we've never seen a president that [00:26:52] has patronized that has developed the not as much as [00:26:55] president, all right, thank you so much for finding time to [00:26:59] join us on the program tonight, kingsly fires commissioner for information [00:27:03] cogi states, thank you so much for your time, we'll continue to have this conversation ahead of [00:27:07] 2027 election, thank you for your time, please have a great evening, [00:27:11] thank you very much for having me, time we never be enough discussing [00:27:14] feedbacks, thank you very much, thanks for [00:27:18] watching everyone, marks the end of today's episode the show, but [00:27:22] before we go, let's tell you that the views and reactions of our resource persons at theres [00:27:26] and have no connection with CVC news, [00:27:28] I good night everyone, I'll see you again tomorrow.
