[00:00:50] Good morning Romania, it's Thursday August 6th, [00:00:53] 7:00 AM, it is said that Romanians are united in hard times, the problem is that [00:00:57] the rest of the time we seem to have specialized in being divided on [00:01:00] everything, we don't discuss anymore, we label each other, if you don't agree [00:01:03] with me, you are surely paid by someone, if you have a different opinion, you clearly belong to [00:01:07] the other side, we argue about politics, about football, about the weather, about [00:01:11] electric cars, dogs, cats and if there's [00:01:15] still time, we even argue about how others argue, it seems we have become a nation [00:01:18] divided into millions of experts and very few people willing to [00:01:22] listen, we have opinions on everything and patience for nothing, before [00:01:26] we understand a piece of news, we already choose which side we are on, but [00:01:29] the truth is, we seek confirmation that we are [00:01:32] right and ironically, when a real crisis comes, we discover that drought does not [00:01:36] ask who you voted for, the energy bill does not side with [00:01:39] the left or the right, the heatwave does not bypass pessimists or [00:01:43] optimists. Caragiale would have had enormous success today, only [00:01:46] he wouldn't have had to invent characters, he would have just opened his [00:01:50] phone, maybe we haven't become a worse society, we have only become a [00:01:54] society that talks a lot and listens very little, and when [00:01:57] everyone shouts, no one hears anyone anymore. Maybe the biggest [00:02:01] victory we can achieve is not to make the other person [00:02:04] shut up, but to manage to listen to each other from [00:02:08] time to time. We begin by seeing the main events of this [00:02:11] morning. [00:02:14] The authorities' appeal for energy saving is starting to produce results. [00:02:18] Electricity consumption decreased by approximately 250 [00:02:21] MW compared to the estimated level for yesterday's temperatures, but [00:02:25] the reduction covers only a small part of the deficit during [00:02:28] peak hours. [00:02:31] Mirabela Grădinaru, Nicușor Dan's partner, published her wealth declaration [00:02:35] on the presidential administration's website. The announcement was made by [00:02:38] the head of state, who thus wants to avoid any speculation. The [00:02:42] transparency exercise comes against the backdrop of heated debates in parliament on the [00:02:46] law. [00:02:49] It's hot at this hour and it will be even hotter during the day, [00:02:53] but meteorologists say that rains are also making their way. We'll be back with [00:02:56] details in a few moments. [00:03:06] The authorities' appeal for energy saving is starting to produce results, [00:03:09] electricity consumption decreased by approximately 250 [00:03:13] MW compared to the estimated level for yesterday's [00:03:16] temperatures, but the reduction covers only a small part of the deficit during [00:03:20] peak hours. The government is preparing the mandatory limitation of [00:03:24] consumption for approximately 80 large energy consumers. The normative [00:03:27] act is expected to be adopted today. [00:03:31] Most companies that will be obliged to reduce or even temporarily [00:03:35] stop their electricity supply in crisis situations [00:03:39] operate in steel production, [00:03:42] aluminum production like Alro Slatina, the [00:03:45] chemical fertilizer industry, and the automotive sector. From [00:03:48] the moment the government adopts the decision by which [00:03:51] it can reduce the electricity consumption of large companies [00:03:55] in Romania, it will receive a list from the Ministry of Energy with [00:03:59] all these companies, when problems arise, and [00:04:02] this will be the only solution, [00:04:04] nature reserve in the south of the country, destroying those companies will be notified at least 24 [00:04:10] out of control, with over 300 hours in advance, and the period in which electricity consumption will be [00:04:12] stopped will be limited. [00:04:15] Authorities say that the measures aim to protect the balance of the national [00:04:19] energy system. Companies are probably selected [00:04:22] based on consumption volume, meaning that in the first instance you discuss [00:04:26] with the largest consumers, see if they [00:04:29] voluntarily reduce their consumption, and if they [00:04:32] don't, they will be forced, that's what it's about. For companies, [00:04:36] stopping production will have a very large impact, especially if it was not [00:04:40] planned. The problem is that [00:04:43] something like this must be seen as an [00:04:46] exceptional solution. And it must be understood that a [00:04:49] factory is not a switch. You don't press [00:04:53] a button, stop today and [00:04:56] press again tomorrow and everything is fine, it starts [00:05:00] from scratch, sometimes you manage to [00:05:03] save one MW and you can lose one [00:05:07] million euros in production. Unions say [00:05:10] that during the period when factories will close their doors, employees should [00:05:14] receive technical unemployment if they are not on vacation, [00:05:17] for reasons [00:05:20] generated by the energy crisis we are going through, they will have to [00:05:24] reduce, close their activity, they are protected by [00:05:28] collective labor agreements and during this period they should [00:05:32] receive 75% of their salaries, technical [00:05:35] unemployment, an exceptional situation. Data from [00:05:39] 2024 shows that transportation represents the largest [00:05:43] consumer of electricity nationwide, with a share of [00:05:46] 34.5% [00:05:48] of total consumption. In second place is the population, which [00:05:52] uses 31.8% of [00:05:54] the electricity, followed by industry with [00:05:57] 21.5%. [00:06:01] The capital is saving energy after the government declared a state of [00:06:05] alert nationwide due to the decrease in electricity [00:06:08] production. The Bucharest City Hall implemented a [00:06:11] plan to reduce consumption since last night, street lighting [00:06:15] and that in parks administered by the municipality operate at [00:06:19] reduced intensity to limit consumption during [00:06:22] peak hours. 25 measures to [00:06:26] reduce energy consumption were adopted by the capital's city hall. [00:06:30] These will be applied throughout August to reduce pressure [00:06:34] on the national energy system, especially during [00:06:37] peak consumption in the evening. One of the measures [00:06:40] taken by the general city hall is to reduce public lighting [00:06:44] in its administered parks by 30%, and [00:06:48] where not needed, even a total shutdown [00:06:51] of public lighting. Along with the Capital City Hall, Sector 6 City Hall [00:06:55] also decided to reduce light intensity by 50% [00:06:58] in parks and children's [00:07:02] playgrounds. Energy consumption will also be reduced by [00:07:05] giving up the architectural lighting of the Capital City Hall [00:07:08] headquarters and its subordinate institutions, including museums. [00:07:13] Bucharest residents say the measures are welcome, although many state they have not [00:07:16] noticed a difference in park lighting. I think [00:07:20] it's okay, I don't have a problem with that. But no, no [00:07:24] you haven't felt any difference in intensity, I haven't felt the difference, honestly, I haven't looked, [00:07:27] usually the light is not very strong in Cișmigiu. At home, have you done anything [00:07:31] in this regard to reduce electricity consumption? [00:07:34] Normally I don't stay with too much light anyway, I usually as [00:07:37] a person have LED bulbs, so there's not much more I can [00:07:41] do. we walk, we try to stay out more, at home? [00:07:45] well, the fact that I'm not home means everything is off, both lights and air conditioning, it [00:07:49] should be less anyway, because it's not needed in the park at such [00:07:52] an intensity. but haven't you noticed anything changed in this state? [00:07:56] no, no, not yet at all, no. at home do you take any [00:07:59] measures to reduce this energy consumption? I always [00:08:03] took measures because I don't like strong light. energy [00:08:06] saving measures will be applied to the company that [00:08:10] manages public transport in Bucharest, electric buses will no longer [00:08:13] be charged during the critical interval between 7:30 PM and [00:08:17] 11 PM and the municipal company Termoenergetica will stop [00:08:21] non-essential lighting and will limit the operation of hot water [00:08:25] pressure booster pumps. While the Capital City Hall has taken several [00:08:28] decisions to reduce electricity consumption, [00:08:31] especially in the evening when the crisis is exacerbated. We also have [00:08:35] public institutions that have not taken any measures. For [00:08:39] example, the People's House, one of the major consumers of [00:08:42] electricity, where architectural lighting is [00:08:46] not turned off. Currently, the daily electricity consumption [00:08:49] in Bucharest is approximately 1000 [00:08:52] MW. The proposed reductions and measures are [00:08:55] good, I can't say they don't help, but they don't have a [00:08:58] significant impact. It's more an example [00:09:02] than with obvious effects that would [00:09:05] actually help. Operators of illuminated advertising panels [00:09:09] who have contracts with the Capital City Hall say they will [00:09:13] respect the measures imposed by the municipality, but last night [00:09:16] the panels in Bucharest's major intersections were still [00:09:19] on. [00:09:23] Authorities have postponed until this morning the sinking of the four [00:09:26] barges loaded with stone in the Bala arm of the Danube, which [00:09:30] would divert more water to the Cernavodă nuclear power plant. [00:09:33] The plant director declared that in the next week there will be no problems, but [00:09:37] the forecast for the Danube's flow is grim. [00:09:41] A few more days could be gained if the barges are sunk, an [00:09:44] unprecedented operation in [00:09:46] Romania. [00:09:51] The four barges were filled with hundreds of tons of stone, but their sinking did not [00:09:55] take place. The postponement was decided after a prolonged meeting. [00:09:58] The unprecedented operation in Romania is risky, and authorities say that [00:10:02] the security of those participating in the mission is a priority. It is [00:10:06] not an easy operation at all, they will be placed in that [00:10:09] area near the bank. From the bank, they [00:10:13] will be pushed with [00:10:16] by the captain towards the bank, they will be anchored [00:10:19] both in the bank and in the [00:10:23] anchors, we will continue dredging depths with [00:10:26] larger quantities than initially estimated. [00:10:30] Reactor 2 of the Cernavodă power plant is operational, and the plant director says that [00:10:34] the blasting of the rock at Izvoarele was helpful, it led to a 2 cm [00:10:37] increase in the Danube's level in the area of the plant's basin. A few [00:10:41] more days of operation would be gained after the sinking of the barges, which would divert more [00:10:44] water to the arm leading to Cernavodă. The operations that [00:10:48] took place on the Danube at Bala brought us a [00:10:52] respite so that the level that was to [00:10:55] drop at Cernavodă dropped much less, which led to a few [00:10:59] additional days of operation, we currently [00:11:02] have a forecast based on the prediction that we will [00:11:06] operate for a period of seven days. The Danube reaches a new historic [00:11:09] minimum flow of 1400 m³/ [00:11:12] second at the country's entry point. Although the Danube's flow is extremely low, forecasts show that it will remain [00:11:16] stable in the next period. [00:11:19] Coal power plants can no longer be closed, even at the cost of blocking [00:11:23] billions of unrecoverable euros allocated through [00:11:26] PNR. At the final vote, deputies maintained in the decarbonization [00:11:29] law the Social Democrats' amendment that generated sharp [00:11:33] disputes in the Senate. Maintaining the operation of [00:11:36] coal power plants, PSD and Aur insist that this is a solution to [00:11:40] the current energy crisis, but the Minister of European Funds says that [00:11:44] Romania will lose money. President Nicușor Dan is considering not [00:11:47] promulgating the law. [00:11:50] Climate change is felt increasingly strongly in Cluj-Napoca and in the local [00:11:54] units of the metropolitan area. A study conducted [00:11:58] by the Cluj Metropolitan Area Association, together with scientists from Babeș-Bolyai [00:12:01] University and European experts, shows that temperatures are rising [00:12:05] faster than initial estimates indicated. [00:12:08] The conclusion is that the current infrastructure and adaptation measures applied [00:12:12] until now are no longer sufficient to cope with extreme heat [00:12:15] waves and floods caused by torrential [00:12:19] rains. Both are at [00:12:22] risk in their centers, they are at [00:12:25] high risk, in the period 2071- [00:12:28] 2100 under the same scenario in which we do not [00:12:32] undertake concrete adaptation measures, we reach red, which [00:12:36] we reach, here we reach, in the central area of Cluj, at [00:12:39] risk, these are the latest climatic studies that show that in the Cluj [00:12:43] metropolitan area temperatures are rising much faster than [00:12:46] initial predictions indicated. It was found that the values estimated [00:12:50] by climate models 20 years ago are practically [00:12:54] lower than what we have in reality. Although everyone looks towards Cluj-Napoca when [00:12:58] it comes to overheating, research shows that certain [00:13:01] rural areas around the city can register equally difficult-to-bear values [00:13:05] where there were extensive asphalted surfaces, both in [00:13:08] the city and in Florești or Apahida, these have come to [00:13:11] function as heat islands. Urban heat [00:13:14] islands, this is a bigger [00:13:18] challenge. We must be very, very careful that any kind of urban [00:13:21] regeneration plans and real estate developments [00:13:25] include from the very beginning shading [00:13:28] measures or an increase in the number [00:13:31] of trees. Besides the heatwave, researchers have also studied another phenomenon that [00:13:35] has increased in intensity. Short and abundant rains, which [00:13:38] represent the second major problem, generating large accumulations of water on [00:13:42] streets due to the soil's inability to absorb it. In [00:13:45] the case of abundant rainfall, occurring in very [00:13:49] short periods of time, usually, water accumulates because [00:13:52] the drainage system cannot cope. To counteract the effects of [00:13:56] climate change, specialists have devised a package of concrete measures to [00:14:00] be implemented from now on. Among the priorities are [00:14:03] the arrangement of sponge parks capable of retaining rainwater, [00:14:06] the removal of asphalt from certain squares, and the imposition of new, [00:14:10] stricter rules for real estate developers regarding the minimum share of [00:14:14] unpaved green space. An example of landscaping is the [00:14:18] Feroviarilor Park. The designers started from the very [00:14:21] beginning with the idea of draining in case of [00:14:25] rapid foundations to drain the excess water through a [00:14:28] system of diversion towards the lakes in the park. The UBB specialists' study in partnership [00:14:32] with the Cluj Metropolitan Area was financed through European funds, and [00:14:36] the data collected now managed to attract new funding to [00:14:39] identify even more solutions to counteract the effects of [00:14:42] global warming. These will be proposed to the authorities in the [00:14:46] metropolitan area to be implemented. [00:14:49] Honestly, I wonder who managed to sleep well last night, [00:14:53] given that at this hour 7:14, it's somewhere around [00:14:56] 25°C in Timișoara or Oradea, 23 [00:15:00] 24°C in the capital. We had a tropical night. What [00:15:03] awaits us in the coming hours, Dana Iancu tells us, and we hope she comes with good [00:15:06] news. Dana, good morning. Good morning, Marius. Welcome [00:15:10] back. Don't ask me like yesterday how many colors you have on the map? Three. Today I know [00:15:13] yesterday I put only one color. I know today as well. [00:15:17] The same rhythm, the same heat that will intensify and because you [00:15:21] mentioned the night. Not just one [00:15:26] restless night we've had, but several nights of heatwaves, are the rains coming [00:15:29] today? The rains are coming today, in most of the country they will [00:15:33] be in the evening, temperatures will not [00:15:36] drop significantly, some storms in [00:15:40] the mountains, we see, we have the same [00:15:42] rhythm. We start with the yellow code which [00:15:46] is valid for Dobrogea, the north and east of Muntenia, [00:15:50] as well as eastern Transylvania, here maximum temperatures will reach again [00:15:53] 37°, and on the coast temperatures will be [00:15:57] between 30 and 32°. Thermal [00:16:00] discomfort will be high, and the night will remain tropical. [00:16:04] The orange code targets Moldova, Oltenia, [00:16:07] most of Transylvania and the southwest and center of [00:16:10] Muntenia, in these regions the heatwave will be persistent with [00:16:14] temperatures up to 38° and [00:16:17] an accentuated thermal discomfort, but the most severe [00:16:21] is the red code extended today in Maramureș, [00:16:24] Satu Mare, Sălaj, Bihor, Arad, Timiș and [00:16:27] Caraș Severin. Here extreme temperatures of up to [00:16:31] 41° in the shade will be recorded, and nights will [00:16:34] remain tropical with minimums of 25. [00:16:37] 26°. In addition, we have a yellow [00:16:41] code for significant downpours in [00:16:44] northern and central Moldova, in Transylvania, Maramureș, [00:16:47] Crișana, Banat, Oltenia. Here is the western half of [00:16:51] Muntenia, starting at 12:00 PM until the evening there will [00:16:55] be storms, electrical discharges and hail. If you [00:16:59] leave the house even in the morning, prepare [00:17:03] for another fiery day. At this hour, [00:17:05] temperatures are quite high, [00:17:08] 21°C in Suceava, 19 [00:17:11] 20°C in Iași, 23°C in Constanța, [00:17:15] 22°C also in the capital, 20°C in [00:17:19] Craiova, in the west of the country it's 23°C in Timișoara and [00:17:22] Oradea, in the center a bit cooler but not [00:17:25] significantly, 18°C in Cluj-Napoca and [00:17:28] Sibiu. [00:17:32] Dana, thank you very much for all this information. We'll meet again a little [00:17:35] later. International news [00:17:37] now: a new level of danger, that's how [00:17:41] German authorities categorize the explosive drone incident [00:17:44] discovered last night at Leipzig/Halle Airport, one [00:17:48] of the largest logistics centers for cargo transport in Europe. [00:17:52] The incident is treated as a terrorist one. We'll be back with breaking [00:17:55] statements [00:17:56] immediately. [00:17:59] Spanish authorities are on high alert for a new wave of migrants [00:18:03] who could assault the two enclaves in Africa. After last [00:18:07] week, tens of thousands of people invaded the Ceuta enclave, [00:18:10] now Moroccans are urged on social networks to resume [00:18:13] the assault. [00:18:21] A new level of danger, that's how German authorities classify [00:18:25] the explosive drone incident discovered last night at [00:18:28] Leipzig-Halle Airport, one of the largest [00:18:31] logistics centers for freight transport in Europe. The incident is treated [00:18:35] as a terrorist one, and the warning from internal security officials, [00:18:39] who do not rule out the involvement of foreign powers in hybrid [00:18:43] threats, now this also comes as a very serious [00:18:46] alarm signal. The North Atlantic Alliance has been informed about [00:18:50] the incident. [00:18:53] The drone was discovered by an airport employee in the security area [00:18:57] of the southern runway, near a Ukrainian cargo plane. [00:19:00] According to authorities, during takeoff, the cargo [00:19:04] aircraft collided with an unknown flying object. In [00:19:07] the vicinity of the airport, all flights were temporarily [00:19:11] suspended, the southern runway was closed, but [00:19:14] identification of the drone and the [00:19:17] suspicion that it could be an [00:19:20] explosive charge, the police, the federal police, [00:19:23] the state police, the federal police, the bomb disposal unit [00:19:26] of the federal police was put on standby [00:19:29] and has also then... [00:19:32] in operation. [00:19:34] Quality, drone sightings, drone threats, [00:19:58] also in a hybrid context, [00:20:02] we know this from the past. that a drone [00:20:06] armed with explosives [00:20:09] is located here at an airport [00:20:12] premises. operation remains open. [00:20:15] The diplomatic representative of Ukraine in [00:20:23] Berlin blamed Moscow. German [00:20:27] airports are on maximum alert after a series of unauthorized [00:20:30] drone overflights, in areas such as military [00:20:34] installations, energy terminals, logistics [00:20:38] companies. Leipzig Airport is a major transport [00:20:42] hub, including for military aid deliveries [00:20:45] to Ukraine. [00:20:48] The remains of a Russian drone were [00:20:50] found in the south of the Republic of Moldova, in the area of Văleni village, Cahul [00:20:54] district, approximately 40 km from Galați and [00:20:57] 25 km from the border with Ukraine. Following the preliminary [00:21:01] examination of the remains, specialists determined, based on the construction [00:21:04] method, materials used, and markings, that it was a [00:21:08] Geran 2 type drone, the Russian version of the Iranian [00:21:11] Shahed with a long attack range. All fragments were [00:21:15] collected and noted for a new expert examination. [00:21:18] Specialists from the technical explosive section of the Republic of Moldova Police [00:21:22] continue investigations to determine [00:21:25] the trajectory of this drone. [00:21:28] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău condemned the violation of the Republic [00:21:32] of Moldova's airspace and denounced a serious [00:21:35] risk to national and [00:21:37] regional security. [00:21:41] Here, there was an alert on Mamaia beach after an object resembling a [00:21:45] drone was observed in the water. Tourists called 112, and [00:21:48] police and representatives of the Constanța Emergency Situations [00:21:51] Inspectorate intervened urgently and secured the area. [00:21:55] Coast Guard representatives confirmed that it was a drone [00:21:59] remnant without explosive material. It has not [00:22:02] yet been established what its [00:22:03] origin is. [00:22:07] Spanish authorities are on high alert for a new wave of [00:22:10] migrants who could assault the two enclaves in Africa. [00:22:14] After last week, tens of thousands of people invaded the [00:22:18] Ceuta enclave, now Moroccans are urged on social media [00:22:22] to resume the assault. Moreover, migrants who were sent [00:22:25] back to Morocco say they would like to go to Romania or [00:22:29] Russia. [00:22:32] On social media, messages are spreading encouraging Moroccans [00:22:35] to continue forcing European borders. [00:22:39] Some Moroccans, rejected from Ceuta, say they would like to live in [00:22:43] Romania or Russia. The fact is that Spanish authorities are [00:22:47] on alert. Social networks in Morocco are full [00:22:51] of messages that push people towards [00:22:54] a new invasion of Ceuta or Melilla. Al [00:22:57] Hajmah, is that message to [00:23:00] invade Spanish territories, Melilla and [00:23:04] Ceuta on August 15th, the Spanish police [00:23:07] have already sent planes full of police [00:23:11] to Melilla to prepare the territory and border [00:23:15] protection with Morocco. 22 European [00:23:17] countries, including Romania, have criticized the migration [00:23:21] policy of Spanish Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. [00:23:24] Sanchez, in turn, said that partners in the Union are showing [00:23:28] selfishness. In Italy, although Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni threatened [00:23:32] to reintroduce controls for travelers coming from Spain, [00:23:36] the situation has not changed at [00:23:37] airports. [00:23:43] Meanwhile, in Ceuta, there are still illegal immigrants. Among [00:23:47] the tens of thousands of Moroccans, several hundred minors [00:23:58] also remained on the streets of Ceuta a week after the invasion [00:24:01] of Spanish territory. These unaccompanied minors are being [00:24:05] checked by Spanish [00:24:08] authorities. [00:24:10] Greece breathes a sigh of relief after [00:24:13] weeks of devastating fires that endangered [00:24:16] both residents and tourists. Firefighters managed to stabilize [00:24:20] the outbreaks on the Greek islands, but the crisis is moving to other parts of [00:24:24] Europe. The flames have gotten out of control in the Netherlands, France and [00:24:27] Italy, where evacuations continue, and intervention [00:24:31] teams are fighting a race against [00:24:34] time. [00:24:36] In Greece, it was the first day that the fires were kept under control. Romanian firefighters [00:24:40] participated alongside the Greek ones in missions to extinguish the fires that [00:24:44] destroyed over 6,000 hectares of vegetation. [00:24:47] Authorities are now assessing the damage. Problems are instead [00:24:50] in the Netherlands, where a fire broke out in a [00:24:54] approximately 100 hectares of forest. The blaze is still [00:25:00] people evacuated from the flames. [00:25:14] after the outbreak at Belgardan Dioa got out of control. Dozens of [00:25:17] people have been moved to safe areas until the situation returns [00:25:21] to normal. [00:25:25] In Italy, firefighters are fighting to extinguish a forest fire that broke out in [00:25:28] Valmadrera, in the province of Lecco in the north of the country. Images show how [00:25:32] the intervention teams' aircraft is resupplying with water from Lake [00:25:35] Como. In Spain, where the most violent wildfires in recent [00:25:39] years have occurred, a family of farmers was met by three donkeys who [00:25:43] survived [00:25:44] the catastrophe. [00:25:55] at the supermarket will start to look different, not [00:25:58] the products are changing, but the packaging. The European Union [00:26:01] introduces some of the strictest rules to date regarding [00:26:04] the packaging and labeling of these products. The goal is [00:26:08] simple: less plastic, less waste and packaging [00:26:12] that can be recycled more easily. The new rules apply to [00:26:15] all companies that produce, import or sell [00:26:18] packaged products in the European Union. For consumers, [00:26:22] changes will be visible directly on the shelf, many products will have [00:26:25] smaller and lighter packaging. They will contain less [00:26:28] unnecessary material and labeling will become clearer. [00:26:31] The regulation limits so-called excess packaging, i.e. situations [00:26:35] where the box is much larger than the product inside. [00:26:39] In addition, for certain food packaging, chemical substances from the [00:26:43] fas category are restricted, considered difficult to eliminate from the environment and [00:26:46] associated with health [00:26:49] risks. The changes are huge for companies too, from now on, [00:26:53] not only the producer is responsible for the conformity of the packaging, and [00:26:56] attention, the entire commercial chain, importers, distributors [00:27:00] and traders. Products that do not comply with these new rules can be [00:27:04] withdrawn from sale and in some cases even [00:27:07] recalled from customers. Each state will [00:27:10] also set the level of fines. Why did [00:27:13] Brussels decide on these measures? Because Europe annually produces almost [00:27:17] 190 kg of packaging waste per [00:27:20] inhabitant, and the quantity [00:27:23] is constantly increasing. Packaging is one of the [00:27:27] biggest consumers of raw materials and one of the [00:27:30] main sources of municipal waste. The new [00:27:33] regulation aims to reduce waste and transform the European economy into a more [00:27:37] circular one. For Romanians, the effects will appear [00:27:40] gradually. In the coming years, we will see more and more reusable packaging, [00:27:44] less single-use plastic and products designed to be recycled more [00:27:48] easily. Experts say that in the short term some [00:27:52] companies will have additional costs for adaptation, but in the long term [00:27:55] the objective is waste reduction and a more efficient recycling [00:27:59] system throughout the European Union. Maybe [00:28:03] it's not a bad idea, we have many cases of very large packaging [00:28:07] and a small product in the middle. We'll see what [00:28:10] happens. Let's move on, Mirabela Grădinaru, Nicușor Dan's [00:28:13] partner, published her declaration of assets on the presidential [00:28:17] administration's website. The announcement was made by the head of state, who thus wants to avoid [00:28:21] any speculation. The transparency exercise comes against [00:28:24] the background of heated debates in parliament on the Anii law where [00:28:28] an amendment submitted by Aur directly targets the president's [00:28:31] partner. [00:28:34] According to the declaration published on the presidential administration's website, [00:28:38] Mirabela Grădinaru owns a plot of land in Moara Vlăsiei [00:28:41] Ilfov. She inherited various shares of several plots of land, two houses and a [00:28:45] vineyard from her grandparents and [00:28:48] father, all in Vaslui county. The president's partner has two cars from [00:28:52] 2016 and 1992. [00:28:55] In the last year, her income from the private company where she is employed [00:28:59] was almost 16,000 RON, i.e. around three. [00:29:03] 1800 RON per month. She also has shares worth 4000 [00:29:06] euros through a program for employees. In her [00:29:09] declaration of interests, Mirabela Grădinaru stated that she is the president [00:29:13] of the civic organization SOS Orașul, which she lent [00:29:17] 116,000 RON. According to the current [00:29:20] legislation in force, the president's partner is not [00:29:24] obliged to submit a declaration of [00:29:27] assets or interests. However, President [00:29:30] Nicușor Dan wrote in a public message on social networks that [00:29:34] he is doing it in the spirit of transparency and to [00:29:37] remove any speculation. At [00:29:40] the debate on the Anii Law in parliament, Aur representatives, with the [00:29:44] support of PSD, introduced an amendment that directly targets Mirabela [00:29:47] Grădinaru. According to it, people who have relationships with [00:29:51] dignitaries similar to spouses will be obliged to submit [00:29:55] declarations of assets and interests. The president wants [00:29:58] to send an informal signal by [00:30:01] pointing to these [00:30:03] changes as potentially [00:30:06] unconstitutional. In fact, the proposals that [00:30:10] were formulated, namely, [00:30:13] the inclusion of life partners in the declaration of [00:30:16] assets and interests, are not found in the civil [00:30:20] code. Mirabela Grădinaru appeared in several public [00:30:23] actions alongside President Nicu Șordan and represented [00:30:27] Romania at the White House at a summit organized by the first lady of the United [00:30:30] States, Melania Trump. [00:30:33] The Integrity Law passed the Senate with a large majority, but not without [00:30:37] political scandal, amendments mutually supported by PSD and [00:30:41] Aur, sparked the dispute between parliamentarians, one [00:30:44] of them provides for the termination of the mandates of elected officials declared [00:30:47] incompatible before the law came into force, a provision that [00:30:51] USR considers directed against the mayor of [00:30:54] Timișoara, Dominic Fritz. USR has already announced that it will challenge [00:30:58] the law at the Constitutional Court.
