00:01:00first game since being found guilty
00:01:01guilty of breaching the Premier League's
00:01:05League's financial rules. Hello,
00:01:16Hello, I'm Annita McVeigh, welcome welcome to the programme. Let's start
00:01:18start with a major escalation in in the Middle East conflict. Saudi
00:01:21Saudi Arabia says a Houthi missile missile attack at Riyadh's international
00:01:25international airport has killed killed 12 people and injured more
00:01:28more than 300. We've received these these pictures from inside the airport
00:01:32airport terminal. Reports say there there was a missile strike on one
00:01:35one of the airport gates. It's the the deadliest attack on Saudi soil
00:01:39soil in more than a decade. The Saudi Saudi authorities are calling it
00:01:42it a war crime and have promised
00:01:44promised a forceful response. The The airport has been closed and hundreds
00:01:48hundreds of flights have been cancelled cancelled or diverted for the second
00:01:52second time in less than a month. month. Schools in Riyadh have switched
00:01:54switched to remote learning for the the week. The UK Foreign Office has
00:01:58has told British nationals to stay stay away until the airport is secure,
00:02:02secure, with similar warnings from from a number of other countries.
00:02:05countries. The strike has been condemned condemned by the United Nations Secretary
00:02:09Secretary General and by President President Trump, who's indicated
00:02:12indicated the US may join the Saudis Saudis campaign against the Iranian
00:02:16Iranian backed Houthis. Well, you're you're going to find out, Steve,
00:02:20Steve, but I think it's terrible. terrible. Well, they're able to defend. defend. Look, the Saudis are good
00:02:24good fighters. But I think the attack attack was a terrible thing. What
00:02:27What happened in Saudi Arabia is
00:02:30is not acceptable. Thank you. Our
00:02:32Our correspondent in Jerusalem, Jon Jon Donnison, explains why this escalation
00:02:35escalation is happening. Well. Of Of course, the civil war in Yemen
00:02:39Yemen has been going on for more
00:02:40more than a decade between the Saudi
00:02:43Saudi backed, internationally recognised recognised government and the Houthis,
00:02:46Houthis, who are supported by Iran. Iran. But in recent weeks, the Houthis
00:02:50Houthis have stepped up their attacks attacks against Saudi Arabia. And
00:02:54And this is certainly the deadliest
00:02:55deadliest single attack on a Gulf
00:02:58Gulf Arab state since the conflict conflict between the United States,
00:03:02States, Israel and Iran started back back in February. And they're doing
00:03:06doing that. I guess it all folds
00:03:09folds into the conflict between the the United States, Israel and Iran.
00:03:13Iran. And it is a way that the Iranians,
00:03:17Iranians, I guess, can open another
00:03:19another front and put pressure on
00:03:22on the United States to try and get get a better deal. They've been trying
00:03:26trying to negotiate a deal to bring bring an end to that conflict. And
00:03:30And by escalating this one, I guess
00:03:32guess it is another means of exerting exerting pressure. So what's the
00:03:36the likely impact then, John, on
00:03:37on the wider region? Well, already
00:03:43already there are fears that the
00:03:45the United States and Israel might
00:03:48might be about to resume strikes
00:03:50strikes against Iran. President Trump Trump has said he is going to do
00:03:53do that, resume the war on a full-scale
00:03:57full-scale after the upcoming mid-term mid-term elections in November, which
00:04:00which is just a few weeks' time. time. There is even speculation that
00:04:04that as America moves, more forces forces to the Gulf at the moment,
00:04:07moment, another carrier heading that that way that it could happen before
00:04:10before that. And I guess, you know, know, when you get something like
00:04:14like this, 12 people killed at least
00:04:16least 300 plus injured. You've got
00:04:19got hospitals in the Saudi capital
00:04:20capital overwhelmed. It is just another
00:04:23another bit of tension going into into a region which is already on
00:04:27on a knife edge. Really. And has has there been any specific response
00:04:31response from Israel? John? Not that
00:04:35that I've seen so far this morning,
00:04:38morning, but there is a real appetite
00:04:41appetite within Israel to continue
00:04:43continue the war with Iran. That
00:04:47That is something that under pressure,
00:04:49pressure, Israel stepped back from from the United States clearly wanted
00:04:53wanted to de-escalate, do a deal deal because of the damage that conflict
00:04:55conflict was doing on the global global economy. We've not had any
00:04:59any specific statement from Israel
00:05:01Israel this morning that I've seen.
00:05:04seen. But obviously Israel in the
00:05:06the last years and months has sustained
00:05:09sustained direct attacks from the the Houthis firing towards Israel.
00:05:13Israel. We're going to have to wait wait and see if there is any response,
00:05:16response, be it verbally or in militarily
00:05:20militarily from the Israelis. Jon Jon Donnison reporting the deadliest
00:05:23deadliest strike on Saudi soil in
00:05:25in more than a decade comes as energy energy ministers from the world's
00:05:28world's oil and gas producing countries countries are due to meet in Riyadh
00:05:32Riyadh for the International Energy
00:05:33Energy Forum. John Sfakianakis chief
00:05:36chief economist and head of economic economic research at the Gulf Research
00:05:40Research Centre, is in Riyadh and and told me about the mood there
00:05:43there following the airport attack.
00:05:45attack. Well, of course the mood
00:05:48mood for several days now has been
00:05:50been one of angst and concern because
00:05:54because Houthi attacks have been
00:05:55been taking place throughout Riyadh.
00:05:58Riyadh. The city has been under alert
00:06:01alert for several days. In fact,
00:06:03fact, for several weeks now. Because
00:06:06Because the drones and rockets have
00:06:08have been coming in. Fortunately
00:06:10Fortunately not hitting any civilians,
00:06:13civilians, but this time at the airport, airport, we had some horrible news,
00:06:16news, as we've seen. So the mood
00:06:19mood is one of concern and how there there is going to be resolution if
00:06:23if this is going to escalate. Unfortunately, Unfortunately, everybody kind of
00:06:26of thinks that this is going to get
00:06:29get worse. And you know, let's see
00:06:31see where we go with this. But it's
00:06:33it's a horrible news that at the
00:06:36the airport, a lot of, you know, know, people have died. And this
00:06:40this is not the first time that we've we've seen attacks on the airport
00:06:43airport itself. Yeah. And Saudi Arabia's Arabia's Vision 2030 strategy is
00:06:46is all about. Well, in part about about diversifying the economy. But
00:06:50But clearly oil remains a really,
00:06:52really, really significant part of
00:06:54of that with these Houthi attacks attacks both in the capital and then
00:06:58then what they're doing on the Red
00:07:00Red Sea coast impeding Saudi Arabia's
00:07:04Arabia's ability to export oil. What What does that doing to the economy?
00:07:06economy? What does that mean for
00:07:08for Saudi Arabia? Well, of course,
00:07:11course, Saudi Arabia has been Readdressing
00:07:15Readdressing vision 2030 prior to
00:07:17to the attacks and prior to the February
00:07:19February war. So that is something something very important to note.
00:07:23note. But of course that will have have an impact. All of this will
00:07:26will have an impact on Saudi Arabia's
00:07:29Arabia's image and view. And of course,
00:07:31course, tourism as whenever we see see an attack in other parts of the
00:07:35the Gulf, be it in the UAE, Qatar,
00:07:38Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait that has an
00:07:41an impact on the GCC, the Gulf's Gulf's credibility. So I would say
00:07:45say that yes, there would have to to stay take a step back and see
00:07:49see how is this diversification taking
00:07:51taking shape? But obviously that that has to be addressed at a later
00:07:55later stage because now they need need to deal with the Houthis. And
00:07:57And I think the US will have to step step in and I believe they will step
00:08:01step in to help Saudi Arabia. And And John, finally and briefly, what
00:08:04what do you think this winter will will bring in terms of energy supplies
00:08:08supplies and prices and how does
00:08:11does the US., Russia diesel deal
00:08:12deal fit into all of this? Absolutely.
00:08:16Absolutely. I think the Russia deal
00:08:18deal is is a deal, but it's not going
00:08:21going to be making a dent in the the international market. Even in
00:08:24in the US market. It's not going going to make a dent. I'll give you
00:08:27you an example. The US consumes about
00:08:30about 4 million barrels of diesel diesel and Russia the Russia deal
00:08:34deal is going to provide about 2 2 to 3 million barrels of diesel
00:08:38diesel per month. So that in itself itself is not going to solve the
00:08:41the problem. I think it will be the
00:08:43the resolution of the war. As President
00:08:46President Trump said, and stoppage stoppage of the attacks on Russian
00:08:50Russian refineries, but also and
00:08:52and more significantly, find a solution
00:08:54solution to the Gulf crisis, the the war, the Strait of Hormuz and
00:08:58and opening up of the Bab al-Mandab. al-Mandab. So there has to be more
00:09:01more of a step in from the US to
00:09:03to find a holistic solution to the
00:09:05the end of all this so we can have
00:09:08have crude oil coming out of the
00:09:10the region. John Sfakianakis there.
00:09:13there. Well, Ukraine has continued continued to target Russian infrastructure
00:09:16infrastructure with another drone drone attack on a data centre belonging
00:09:19belonging to the Russian tech giant
00:09:21giant Yandex operations at the facility facility in Vladimir to the east
00:09:24east of Moscow have been completely completely halted. The strike comes
00:09:28comes after President Trump accused accused Volodymyr Zelensky of prolonging
00:09:31prolonging the war, and said it was was time for Ukraine to elect a new
00:09:34new leader. Mr Trump appeared to
00:09:37to blame President Zelensky for the the diesel crisis, adding that he'd
00:09:41he'd quote better damn well stop
00:09:43stop attacking Russian oil refineries. refineries. Downing Street says Andy
00:09:47Andy Burnham has spoken to President President Zelensky to reiterate the
00:09:50the UK's support for Ukraine in its
00:09:53its war with Russia. Joe Inwood reports.
00:09:58reports. It is a slow and painful
00:10:01painful process. Buried under the
00:10:05the rubble of their apartment is
00:10:07is Yana, Anton and the body of their their daughter Liza. At least 12
00:10:1112 people are now thought to have have been killed in a single Russian
00:10:15Russian strike in Zaporizhzhia. At
00:10:16At least three were children. May
00:10:22May all Russians die. Anatoly says
00:10:24says as he digests the news of the the death of his granddaughter. Much
00:10:28Much of Russia's war on places like like Zaporizhzhia has been funded
00:10:31funded by the sale of oil and gas. gas. Diesel is at the centre of a
00:10:35a major diplomatic row. That's a a war that should have never started.
00:10:38started. And I think it's time for for Ukraine to get a new president.
00:10:42president. It started with the announcement announcement that President Trump
00:10:44Trump had done a deal with Vladimir
00:10:46Vladimir Putin that would see about about 100,000 barrels a day enter
00:10:50enter the global market. That was was met with disbelief in Ukraine
00:10:54Ukraine and anger from President
00:10:58President Zelensky. All that money
00:11:00money goes towards the war against against people, against Ukraine,
00:11:04Ukraine, against all of us. In my my view, this is a weak decision.
00:11:08decision. Unfortunately, a weak decision
00:11:10decision by strong partners. The
00:11:14The United States is currently seeing seeing record diesel prices and growing
00:11:18growing voter anger ahead of crucial crucial mid-term elections. Many
00:11:22Many blame President Trump and his his war with Iran for the rising
00:11:25rising costs they're seeing at the the pumps. But he said that the real
00:11:29real cause of the problem were these
00:11:33these Ukrainian strikes on Russian Russian oil facilities for Ukraine.
00:11:37Ukraine. They've been a key part
00:11:38part of their military strategy for
00:11:41for President Trump, a cause of his
00:11:43his problems. He wants to make problems
00:11:45problems for our farmers, our ranchers
00:11:48ranchers with diesel fuel because
00:11:50because Russia supplies a large portion portion of the diesel fuel throughout
00:11:53throughout the world. You're in no no position to dictate. For more
00:11:57more than a year, President Zelensky Zelensky has been carefully and it
00:12:01it seemed successfully rebuilding rebuilding his relationship with
00:12:03with Donald Trump left at rock bottom bottom by this notorious bust-up.
00:12:06bust-up. Seems much of that has been
00:12:09been undone while undoubtedly falling falling Russian exports have played
00:12:13played a role, the real cause of
00:12:14of the rising cost of diesel lies
00:12:17lies here in the Strait of Hormuz
00:12:19Hormuz and in the war with Iran. Iran. The consequences of the failure
00:12:23failure to end that war continue
00:12:25continue to ripple around the world.
00:12:29world. Joe Inwood, BBC News. Some
00:12:32Some breaking news now from Nepal Nepal and the authorities there have
00:12:36have called for the evacuation of
00:12:37of villages on the banks of the Gandaki Gandaki River after severe flooding
00:12:41flooding in the centre of the country.
00:12:43country. Nepali officials say they've they've rescued 24 people from areas
00:12:47areas affected by the flash flood, flood, which has washed away bridges
00:12:50bridges and damaged a hydropower hydropower facility. Five people
00:12:54people are missing. It's believed believed the flash flood was caused
00:12:57caused by a landslide. Upstream, Upstream, the country remains on
00:13:00on high alert after devastating floods floods swept thousands of people
00:13:04people away seven weeks ago and to
00:13:07to India now with the leader of the
00:13:09the Cockroach protest movement has has been released from detention.
00:13:12detention. It comes as police in in Delhi say they'll restrict access
00:13:15access to the city centre as the the party threatens another day of
00:13:19of protests against revisions to to the electoral roll. The Cockroach
00:13:23Cockroach Janta Party said its founder founder Abhijeet Dipke, who began
00:13:26began the movement in May after India's
00:13:29India's chief justice likened some some jobless young people to cockroaches,
00:13:33cockroaches, was detained with other other leaders shortly after landing
00:13:36landing in Delhi. The Cjp and other
00:13:38other opposition parties are calling calling for the election commissioner
00:13:41commissioner to be sacked over revisions revisions to the electoral roll,
00:13:44roll, an accusation denied by the the authorities. Arunoday Mukharji
00:13:48Mukharji is our correspondent in in Delhi and sent this update. You're
00:13:52You're still seeing sites like these. these. You're seeing big barricades
00:13:56barricades in key areas leading to to parts of central Delhi. This is
00:13:59is a key road which is going in, in, but this is shut. You can see
00:14:02see the traffic can move from there there into other parts of Delhi.
00:14:06Delhi. But this is barricaded. If If I could just show you there's
00:14:10there's a paramilitary presence. presence. These are central forces forces who have also been brought
00:14:13brought in to boost the Delhi Police's Police's presence. But if you look
00:14:16look here, it looks like any other other day in Delhi you've got a lot
00:14:19lot of traffic. And this is also also a glimpse of what other parts parts of Delhi look like. While central
00:14:23central Delhi continues to be seeing seeing a significant police presence
00:14:27presence because the point is that
00:14:29that they're still expecting protests protests in sort of impromptu protests,
00:14:33protests, as we've seen yesterday. yesterday. So what we saw a lot throughout
00:14:37throughout yesterday was people, people, wherever they could find find a place to sort of congregate
00:14:40congregate and gather, they would would start protesting before the the police would take them away in
00:14:44in different vans. The entire intention intention of the police yesterday
00:14:47yesterday was to try and stop them, them, intercept them wherever they
00:14:50they could so they could not go towards towards the intended place of protest.
00:14:54protest. This is again just the other other road. As you can see, you've
00:14:57you've got a heavy police presence. presence. Paramilitary forces as as well. You've got the Delhi Police
00:15:00Police as well. You can see the difference difference in the uniforms, which
00:15:02which also gives you a sense of the the combination of forces that really
00:15:06really has been brought in. You've You've got signs there as well talking
00:15:09talking about restrictions behind behind are the forces you can see.
00:15:13see. So essentially this is a reminder reminder that the issue has certainly
00:15:16certainly not died down. And we're we're expecting the Cockroach Janta
00:15:20Janta Party to outline their next next strategy at a press conference
00:15:23conference that's been called in, in, say, the next two hours or so,
00:15:26so, that news of a press conference conference came in shortly after
00:15:28after news came of the release of
00:15:30of Abhijeet Dipke and the two other other senior faces of the Cockroach
00:15:34Cockroach Janta Party. What they they do next is going to be the real real question. Now the Delhi Police
00:15:38Police says all those who were detained detained to the tune of about 2000
00:15:412000 a little more have now been been released and they have continued
00:15:44continued to justify saying that
00:15:47that they had to ensure that security security is maintained. Safety is is maintained in Delhi, but they've
00:15:51they've also come in for criticism criticism from the people who've
00:15:53who've been trying to protest, saying saying that this is essentially an
00:15:56an attempt to trample their fundamental fundamental right to protest. Aruna
00:16:00Aruna Iyengar in about 30s, if you
00:16:03you would, our viewers may remember
00:16:05remember that the Education Minister
00:16:08Minister resigned over the exam leak leak scandal, and that was after
00:16:11after protests by the Cockroach Janta Janta Party. So do they feel that that they are on to something here
00:16:15here that they can really affect
00:16:17affect political change? Because
00:16:21Because they were able to put considerable considerable pressure in those protests protests the last time and force
00:16:24force the government to go ahead ahead and sack the education minister.
00:16:27minister. They tasted success. So So they're hoping that if they can
00:16:30can build similar momentum, similar similar pressure, they could yield yield results because they've managed
00:16:34managed to do that once. They need need to figure out if they can do do it again. But in this case, the
00:16:38the government seems to be in no no mood to relent. The Election Commission Commission has denied all charges
00:16:41charges of any kind of alleged irregularities, irregularities, and the BJP, which
00:16:45which is currently in power in India,
00:16:48India, has also said that this essentially
00:16:51essentially these protests by opposition opposition parties are politically politically motivated and they're
00:16:54they're just trying to create an
00:16:56an anarchic situation in the country. country. Arunoday Mukharji in Delhi,
00:17:00Delhi, at least four people have have died in the southeastern United
00:17:03United States after a hurricane battered battered the Gulf Coast, bringing
00:17:06bringing torrential rain. More than than 500,000 homes were left without
00:17:10without power in the states of Florida,
00:17:12Florida, Alabama and Georgia, with
00:17:14with trees down and houses damaged damaged as Hurricane Isaias made
00:17:18made landfall. The storm, which is
00:17:19is now heading north, has weakened
00:17:22weakened to a post-tropical cyclone. cyclone. Meanwhile, Hurricane Simon
00:17:25Simon is bearing down on Mexico, Mexico, bringing torrential rain
00:17:28rain and sustained winds of up to
00:17:32to 240km an hour. The category four four storm is expected to make landfall
00:17:35landfall near the port city of Manzanillo
00:17:38Manzanillo in a few hours' time. time. Residents on the coast of Colima
00:17:42Colima and Jalisco have been warned warned that eight metre waves could
00:17:45could bring storm surges and flooding. flooding. People have been boarding
00:17:48boarding up homes and businesses businesses ahead of its arrival.
00:17:52arrival. Simon is the latest in a a busy hurricane season in the Pacific,
00:17:55Pacific, where the powerful El Nino Nino ocean warming phenomenon is
00:17:59is allowing the storms to gain in
00:18:01in strength. And our lead weather weather presenter Matt Taylor is
00:18:04is with me. So Matt, I know that that you are keeping a very close
00:18:07close watch on what's happening with with Hurricane Simon. Just tell us
00:18:11us exactly where it is right now now and remind us of how big it is.
00:18:14is. This is an exceptionally powerful powerful storm. As you said, it's it's a category four. Hurricanes
00:18:18Hurricanes are measured on a scale scale of 1 to 5. This is right at
00:18:21at the top end of four. So one of of the most powerful hurricanes you
00:18:24you can get winds gusting sustained sustained winds I should say 250km
00:18:28250km an hour. It's 155 miles an
00:18:30an hour. But gusts way stronger than than that. Let me just show you satellite
00:18:34satellite imagery of where that is is at the moment. You can just see
00:18:37see that really well defined eye.
00:18:38eye. It's around that we've got the
00:18:41the strongest of the winds. Now it's it's getting closer and closer to
00:18:44to the Mexican coast. There is a a Pacific coast, sorry, the Pacific
00:18:47Pacific and the Pacific side, but but it's going to we're not quite
00:18:51quite sure where it's going to make make an exact landfall or if it's it's just going to track parallel
00:18:54parallel to the coast for a little little bit longer. What that will
00:18:57will do will have a greater impact impact on keeping the winds stronger
00:19:00stronger for longer along that coastal
00:19:02coastal strip and a greater emphasis emphasis of coastal flooding keep
00:19:05keep on piling the waters up along along that coastal strip just to
00:19:09to the east of that hurricane core. core. It's also going to be piling
00:19:13piling rain in over a very mountainous mountainous region around Colima,
00:19:16Colima, and also across the storm
00:19:19storm itself. Just show you the track track is going to move its way eastwards. eastwards. As I said, we think parallel
00:19:23parallel to the coast it may just just make landfall, but piling in
00:19:26in the rain as well. And along these these districts along the coast we
00:19:29we see the white colours there. We We could see as much as 30in, 750mm
00:19:33750mm of rain in the space of a short short space of time on mountainous mountainous ground. That's a real
00:19:37real risk for life threatening mudslides mudslides and of course, flash flooding.
00:19:40flooding. Yes, big, big worries about about the possibility of flooding.
00:19:44flooding. Well, the almost certainly certainly the flooding and those
00:19:47those deadly mudslides which we've we've seen in the past with hurricanes.
00:19:50hurricanes. And then we've also been been looking at Isaias, haven't we,
00:19:53we, which is in the United States.
00:19:55States. And tell us where it is now.
00:19:58now. Well, Isaias the centre of what
00:20:00what was that is now across Tennessee Tennessee crossing into Kentucky
00:20:03Kentucky as well. So just show you you the radar chart though, because because you've taken it away from
00:20:07from the warm waters of the Gulf
00:20:09Gulf of Mexico. You've got it just just fragmented, broken up. You can
00:20:12can see there's batches of rain. rain. There are flash flood warnings
00:20:15warnings out across parts of North North and South Carolina, but that
00:20:18that whole system is moving its way way eastwards, not going to cause cause too much issues other than
00:20:22than some heavy rain for a time, time, including New York, Washington Washington and also Philadelphia.
00:20:25Philadelphia. OK, Matt, thank you
00:20:26you very much for that update. Matt
00:20:29Matt Taylor now Manchester City travel travel to Anfield later to play the
00:20:33the for the first time since the the club was found guilty of breaching
00:20:35breaching the Premier League's financial financial rules, their opponents, opponents, Liverpool are one of the
00:20:39the clubs that feel aggrieved over over their losses during the season's
00:20:43season's in question. And joining joining me now are two Manchester
00:20:46Manchester City fans, Vivian Paterson
00:20:48Paterson and Niall Webb. Welcome Welcome to you both. Great to have
00:20:52have you with us Niall. I know that that you are going to the game and
00:20:55and Vivian you're going to be watching watching from home. And I want to
00:20:58to ask you both how you feel ahead
00:21:02ahead of this game given all of the the controversy there's been around
00:21:05around the club. Vivian, I'll begin
00:21:08begin with you. Well I feel. Morning.
00:21:10Morning. Good morning. How are you?
00:21:12you? I have mixed emotions as a fan
00:21:17fan and but I'm watching it to support
00:21:20support the team and the players
00:21:23players and whatever goes out around around happens in the background.
00:21:26background. It doesn't bother me. me. I'm there to support my the players.
00:21:30players. OK. And Niall, same question question to you. Yeah, yeah, we've
00:21:34we've been here before haven't we?
00:21:37we? Obviously going to the game. game. It'll be just one of defiance
00:21:40defiance for myself and I think a a lot of the city fans, I think we
00:21:43we need to get behind the team. It's It's been a difficult time for the
00:21:46the club but we've been through more more difficult times. You know, looking
00:21:49looking back to the late 90s when when we were in administration and
00:21:52and the club nearly went bust, you you know, Manchester City have been
00:21:55been in tough times before for people
00:21:57people who didn't know that before. Yeah. I mean, I get what
00:22:01what you're saying that there have have been tough times before, but but when you say we've been here
00:22:04here before, not quite like this
00:22:06this now obviously the club has been
00:22:08been found guilty of more than 100
00:22:11100 breaches of the Premier League's League's financial regulations. The
00:22:14The club says it's innocent and as
00:22:16as we've been reporting, is appealing appealing those verdicts. But it's
00:22:20it's not quite the same as previous previous times, is it, Niall? No
00:22:23No it's not. It's unprecedented what's what's happening at the moment. It's
00:22:27It's a confusing time for us as a
00:22:29a fan. It's confusing because on on the one hand you've got Manchester
00:22:32Manchester City are absolutely adamant adamant that they are innocent until
00:22:36until proven well. They have been been proven guilty by the independent
00:22:39independent commission. But until until the appeals come out, which
00:22:42which is going to be another three three and a half months yet, we're
00:22:45we're going to have to sit tight. tight. But I think as a Man City
00:22:48City fan today, you've just got to to get behind the team, get behind
00:22:52behind the club because there is is going to be a barrage from Liverpool
00:22:55Liverpool today and we've been called
00:22:57called cheats for a long time. We've We've been from opposition fans but
00:23:00but it's going to be on a different different spectrum today and we.
00:23:03we. This is the time to just get get behind the players because it's
00:23:06it's not their fault. Vian we are
00:23:09are as Niall was suggesting, expecting expecting the Liverpool fans to absolutely
00:23:13absolutely make themselves heard heard today. Do you get where they're
00:23:16they're coming from? Do you get what what where they're coming from their
00:23:20their position? There's been reports reports about that. They're going
00:23:23going to actually attack the Man
00:23:26Man City bus and the police are on
00:23:29on high alert because of this. Well, Well, we don't know obviously where
00:23:32where those reports are coming from. from. But obviously there would be
00:23:35be a lot of security around a high high profile game. The security like
00:23:39like this, a person who works in in security, the security is going
00:23:42going to be very heightened. And
00:23:46And do you get weather? Do you get get where the Liverpool fans are
00:23:48are coming from though in terms of
00:23:50of the sense of they feel aggrieved aggrieved because they're wondering
00:23:53wondering whether any of this could could have had an impact on previous
00:23:56previous seasons in which they were were playing and in contention for
00:24:00for titles? Yes, they are. They are
00:24:03are very annoyed and I think they're they're going to make themselves
00:24:06themselves heard today. The Man City
00:24:09City fans are all going with bananas
00:24:13bananas two and a field today. It's
00:24:16It's a tradition that they've done
00:24:19done since the late 1980s and they
00:24:23they really want to support their
00:24:24their club. And Niall, how do you
00:24:27you think the players will handle handle the scrutiny today? Because
00:24:30Because yes, they're used to high high pressure situations. Of course
00:24:33course they are. But do you think
00:24:37think there will be extra pressure pressure on them today? Listen, if
00:24:41if you look at the two teams Liverpool Liverpool and Manchester City, Manchester
00:24:44Manchester City have got the better better team. They've got the better better quality in the team. If Manchester
00:24:47Manchester City turn up today and and quiet the crowd down by their
00:24:50their quality and play them off the the park, that is all the players
00:24:53players can do. The fans can sing, sing, get behind the team but the
00:24:57the players on the pitch today are are key to quieting down that Liverpool
00:25:00Liverpool crowd because they've saved
00:25:01saved city go 2 or 3 nil up, then
00:25:05then I don't think there will be. be. I think it'll just be a very, very, very quiet Anfield. Apart from
00:25:09from the city fans. But it is down down to the players in pressure.
00:25:12pressure. You know situation. They They will prepare for this and know
00:25:15know the team are back at the training training ground on Thursday. Enzo
00:25:19Enzo Maresca had a meeting with the the players to try and get them prepared.
00:25:22prepared. He came out with his press press conference on Friday saying saying that the players are ready
00:25:25ready for this and he's ready for for this and it's business as usual
00:25:29usual within the club until the appeal appeal comes out. So that's the way
00:25:32way that the club have got to approach approach it because we've had a magnificent magnificent start to the season and
00:25:36and I hope that continues today.
