The Apprised AI Disagreement Index

When two independent AI models read the same day's news, how often do they disagree on how settled the facts are? Apprised's published editor (Claude) and an independent cross-check (Kimi) each rate the day's contested events; this is the share where they made a different call, over the last 30 days. Updated 2026-06-10.

41/100
On the 34 events both models rated independently over the last 12 days, they assigned a different certainty call 41% of the time. Lower = the two models converge on what's settled; higher = they genuinely diverge.

Matched events per day

2026-05-262026-06-10

Daily samples are small (a few matched events each) — the headline is the 30-day window rate, not any single day.

Where the two models disagreed

The specific recent events where the published Claude editor and the independent Kimi read landed on a different certainty call. Pairing is heuristic (matched on shared distinctive terms), so each row is a flagged candidate, not a hand-verified contradiction — open that day's World brief to read both models' full reasoning and the source coverage, and judge it yourself.

What it measures

Most AI news tools hide which model wrote the answer. Apprised runs two: a published editor (Claude) and a genuinely independent cross-check (Kimi). This index is the share of the day's contested events on which the two models assigned a different factual-certainty call — a live, daily read on how much two leading models diverge on what's actually settled. It complements the Consensus Index (which measures corroboration across outlets, one model); this measures agreement across models.

How events are matched — and why the number is honest

We pair each of the editor's contested events with the independent model's closest read by shared distinctive terms — proper nouns and specifics, not generic words like "strike," "talks," or "missile." A pair counts only when the two share at least two such terms; matched pairs in this window share a median of 5, and 74% share three or more. Events without a confident match are discarded, never guessed. Certainty is collapsed to settled (Consensus) versus unsettled (Contested or Developing) so adjacent grades don't inflate the number. The headline is a 30-day rate; daily samples are too small to publish alone. See the full methodology.
