00:01:04United States where Senate Committee has voted to hold former
00:01:07director
00:01:08of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases,

00:01:13of Contempt of Congress after he refused to answer questions during the hearing
00:01:17examining his handling
00:01:19of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fchi invoked his
00:01:22constitutional right against self-incrimination more than
00:01:26hundred times during his testimony last week, drawing the are on.
00:01:30of republican lawmakers, former
00:01:32of president Joe Biden gave Fautiy a preemptive pardon on his
00:01:36last day of office in 2025, protecting
00:01:40him from federal prosecution for his actions between 2014

00:01:51department for potential prosecution for failing to
00:01:54comply with the congressional subpina. faulchi could however
00:01:58still face charges for any thing out of that date, including
00:02:02contempt of congress, additionally, he could still be subject to
00:02:05state or local charges that are not covered by the
00:02:12of pardon. let's begin now, channel television's washington

00:02:21for joining us on the program, so what are the law makers or what were the
00:02:25law makers hoping to get out of fichi when he appeared before congress
00:02:29considering that this? not the first time he was having to answer
00:02:32questions about his handling
00:02:34of the COVID-19
00:02:35pandemic,
00:02:40of
00:02:44we know now uh that uh the Republican party has been very
00:02:48clear um that they
00:02:50of were looking to further
00:02:52of investigate uh this and they would be questioning bounty on again and this is what we're
00:02:55saying as of now we know that he uh played the fifth amendment 100%
00:03:00times during the uh hearing
00:03:02we know that uh there was so many things that he could not necessarily
00:03:05discuss or was not comfortable discussing hence forth
00:03:08in his uh fifth amendment declaration throughout uh but
00:03:12of this was something that we definitely expected could happen um as many
00:03:15were not happy with the way in which the COVID-19 uh
00:03:23of pandemic

00:03:27of do see they were specifically not happy with the way which uh he was
00:03:31uh
00:03:32of handling that specifically dealing with some
00:03:35of the way in which the vaccine was carried out and some
00:03:37of the other pandemic rules and
00:03:39of regulations. there was a lot of reference to his
00:03:43diary Maria uh and would didlin some very impersonal
00:03:47things about fichi, the conversations that he had with
00:03:51celebrities, his thoughts, his musings,
00:03:54of he's received some backlash for those, even his handling
00:03:56of the pandemic the shut down the world, but these were all of his
00:04:00and private
00:04:01in thoughts, was this an, wasn't this not invasion of his
00:04:04privacy and can he pursue legal action over
00:04:07this?
00:04:10of yes, we we know that falchi has had, dr. fouchi has
00:04:13had uh legal advisement throughout
00:04:16in this process and so, as
00:04:18a result of what he experienced during the hearing, we can guarantee that this
00:04:22legal advisement will provide uh some of that advice to him as
00:04:26to how he can carry forth, which is why he obviously was. really
00:04:30advised to not expose things that were w within the confines of
00:04:34personal
00:04:35in information, but again, often times uh the legal system is able
00:04:39to uh
00:04:39of require that uh
00:04:41in personal information is exposed if it is deemed uh to have some relevance to
00:04:45the case, and I think that is where uh the um congressional
00:04:49members were leaning toward, they felt as if some
00:04:51of the things that he had expressed and exposed um
00:04:54of in of his diary could have um some impact on the hearing and
00:04:58could have had impact. the way in which the pandemic was
00:05:02handled by Dr. Maria also
00:05:05observed he was asked repeatedly about the origin
00:05:09of the
00:05:10of coronavirus, what have we learned so far? about
00:05:12this? well,
00:05:15you know, it's very interesting that we are now um still continuing to
00:05:19discuss the origin the coronavirus, um, because that
00:05:23obviously was something that was spent uh quite a bit of time focusing
00:05:26on uh during the uh the pandemic time period when
00:05:30Dr. Falchi uh was serving uh in the Biden Administration and
00:05:34so I think there's nothing further uh that has been
00:05:38um exposed. I think that what we'll probably see is that there will
00:05:42be uh further written documents that will provide further insight
00:05:45potentially, but
00:05:46I don't know if there was anything new learned that specifically would change
00:05:49any the initial thoughts um in the way in which uh
00:05:53the the virus was expressed to have uh began here in the United
00:05:57States. He also received a pardon
00:06:01from former president Joe Biden, will this protect him from
00:06:05the lawmakers? This will protect
00:06:09him up until now, um, it it does protect. some
00:06:12portions, the question is really around what additional
00:06:16information and what additional um areas they begin to
00:06:20focus in on and so what we've seen is that we believe that it
00:06:24could uh be protecting most areas that he could see indictment
00:06:28and and potential um charges brought against him,
00:06:31but there could be some potential others, which is why you're seeing further
00:06:35investigation around this uh how the virus uh began here in the United
00:06:39States see if there's some additional information that was withheld. because that
00:06:42could be considered uh to have been a a break in in law
00:06:46um if there was information withheld, which is why you're also seeing investigation
00:06:50around his personal diary and requirements that he exposes and
00:06:54shares some of what was written in the diary um and is questioned on those items
00:06:58and so that is where potentially we could see fine
00:07:01line of where his pardon does not protect him from some of those
00:07:05areas uh that were not uh brought forth and that uh the
00:07:09former president had pardon him from and This is not the
00:07:13end, wel hear of this, Maria. Thanks again for joining

00:07:42know who doesn't want it? the politicians, because they'll never get elected

00:07:50strong elections, you would, they would lose 25% their
00:07:53base. they would never be elected

00:07:59I'm trying to explain that to Republicans, but some them don't
00:08:03quite understand
00:08:04it. they don't
00:08:07understand it, because they're good people, they're good people. they don't know how
00:08:11crooked these." people are, i've dealt with lot of crooked people in my
00:08:15life, they don't how bad these people are, we got to get the
00:08:18republicans to be

00:08:27senate, got to get the senators in there, they got to be
