00:00:11three years of transformation
00:00:15and the story carries on in the federal
00:00:19capital
00:00:21of territory, the new chapter has
00:00:24begun,
00:00:26of every road tells a story, every school tells a story.
00:00:30Every city
00:00:31of tells a story, some stories are written in history
00:00:34books, others are written in roads that connect
00:00:39of communities, in clean water flowing into homes, in
00:00:42schools that inspire learning and in public
00:00:45spaces that restore hope, an opportunity in
00:00:49access and in the daily lives of ordinary
00:00:52people. For the federal capital territory,
00:00:56of the last three years have
00:00:58in witnessed an ambitious drive to reach. shape infrastructure,
00:01:01improve public services and expand development across
00:01:05the six area councils. this says the story of that
00:01:09journey and
00:01:10of the people whose lives have been shaped by
00:01:16of it. when
00:01:21of president chief as minister
00:01:24of the Nigeria's capital city on August 21,
00:01:272023, expectation were
00:01:30of high, road networks left incomplete, communities
00:01:34yarning for portable water, transport systems under
00:01:38pressure, growing satellite towns demanding greater government
00:01:42presence, the task ahead was enormous, must
00:01:46bring the city back what supposed to
00:01:48be, and we are
00:01:51willing and we have the
00:01:53capacity to do that. testimonials
00:01:57abound that the
00:01:59of transformation on fold
00:02:00in the federal capital territory is not a departure from the
00:02:03past, but a continuation of a proven
00:02:07legacy for many, the projects and reforms under
00:02:10Mr. Project,
00:02:12a reflection
00:02:13of the experience and track record he established during
00:02:17his two terms as governor of River
00:02:19State. No matter how you look at it, the last 10
00:02:23years, the FCT was totally dead
00:02:26infrastructurally, totally dead in terms of '
00:02:30development and opportunities, but today in this
00:02:34country, FCT rivals Legos in the
00:02:38amount of investments that are
00:02:40of going into uh both cities, that is
00:02:42unprecedented, you cannot but give
00:02:46credit to what the minister has been able to
00:02:50do here and also to the president who saw through the politics
00:02:53and saw the value he could get from this particular
00:02:56individual and brought him here to the FCT so...
00:03:00I think some
00:03:00of these facts are self-evident and um we just
00:03:04would like to commend him and ask him
00:03:07to keep trying um lot of new roads, lot
00:03:11of new flyovers, some
00:03:12of these projects have been outstanding for 20 years, awarded
00:03:16without any effort whatsoever put into
00:03:20them, and today we're seeing that lot of those projects have
00:03:23been completed and are being brought into
00:03:29of use.
00:03:33"I think um, Mr. President made his best appointment
00:03:36ever on the 21st of August 2023, that is three
00:03:40years
00:03:41a ago, and that appointment is appointing Mr.
00:03:45Projects to stare
00:03:47the affairs
00:03:47of the federal capital territory. Of course, by the end of his first year
00:03:51we could see the mirrid of achievements that he made
00:03:55infrastructurally and
00:03:57na otherwise, and he's in structure development is
00:04:01not only about
00:04:03na roads and bridges, it goes across all
00:04:05sectors,
00:04:10the impacts of this present administration,
00:04:13of particularly
00:04:14of the honorable minister has spread across
00:04:17every
00:04:18of the
00:04:20of sectors
00:04:20of the communities in FCT, let me
00:04:24start with the civil service, he when he came on board, one thing he
00:04:28did was to... the legal frameworks that was available
00:04:32and get approval to reject the FCT civil
00:04:36service and in doing
00:04:38that our people can now aspire to higher
00:04:42of positions, so it were very difficult for people to
00:04:46assent to such position to to get to such position in the civil
00:04:50service, they stay too
00:04:52in long as directors and work with an imported
00:04:56permanent secretary from the federal service and
00:05:00get retired while they are meet on subordinates of primanent
00:05:03of secretaries and and retire
00:05:05of with of those privileges and conveniences.
00:05:08now without reforms people
00:05:13uh natives that are in here, the natives of fc here
00:05:16cannot aspire and work and prepare themselves
00:05:20towards that career parts that someday they are
00:05:24likely to become permanent secretaries
00:05:27and as said that he's been able
00:05:30to also uh reject the
00:05:34entire administrative systems in fct uh we are
00:05:37now feeling as the constitution provided that FCT is a
00:05:41state. and he's running that as a state, we've
00:05:44had um, we now have head of
00:05:47service of we've had two, three
00:05:51successful persons into those offices
00:05:53and that is an
00:05:56impact,
00:06:03sincerly speaking, i will thank the
00:06:06present of federal republic of nigeria, amen
00:06:10b for appointing the honorary
00:06:13minister
00:06:15yenson wike
00:06:19to come and by lot the affairs of FST
00:06:23administration, you know,
00:06:27I had about our minister
00:06:30some years back when he was
00:06:33contesting for governorship in River
00:06:36states,
00:06:40that is an upright,
00:06:43individual that whatever he says
00:06:46it is done and how
00:06:50did i give to know that? it was true one of my
00:06:53subjects call
00:06:55senator so i was telling
00:06:59senator
00:07:00this this man is he going to win this
00:07:03election he told me that definitely is going to
00:07:07win because they've ever
00:07:10worked together with him when he was the chairman
00:07:14kujiera council our minister was the chairman river
00:07:18state in the local government and he
00:07:21said he was up and doing
00:07:24passing so definitely is going to win that
00:07:27election and when i heard about the
00:07:31announcement that it is the
00:07:35minister that is coming to Abuja he too was very very
00:07:38happy that is senator that definitely is
00:07:42coming, we are going to see lot of transformation in
00:07:45FCT,
00:07:52for him to have identified
00:07:55barristerson UK and appointed him as the
00:07:59minister of FCT, I think I was one of those who
00:08:02raised my turn for him, so when he was appointed
00:08:06minister of FCT
00:08:10and given the performance. is that he
00:08:14had in riversated as a governor, i
00:08:17had no doubt that he was coming to
00:08:20perform better and he was
00:08:24coming to take FCT to another level,
00:08:28which she has done now, everybody is
00:08:30a little living witnesses today that the man has taken
00:08:34FCT to another level, whether you are his enemy,
00:08:38whether you don't like his face or whatever, the man
00:08:42has taken FCT to another
00:08:44level,
00:08:49I got to know the minister when he
00:08:53was honorable minister of state for education and I think in
00:08:572013, as a 2013, I was the principal
00:09:01in junior secondary school, but actually was the pioneer principal of that
00:09:05school, and then I started studying
00:09:08him and I was seeing leadership, from being in the education.
00:09:12sector, I was in education too, and I saw the strides he
00:09:16was, the achievements he was making as a minister of
00:09:19state, and then I wrote an article, I introduced him to my students,
00:09:23I wrote an article in the median edition the school magazine,
00:09:27then meet the man, some wiki, I
00:09:31never had an idea, I mean this was in 2013,
00:09:35I never knew that some day I will come to work with
00:09:38him closely like that.
00:09:45In just three years, hundreds of infrastructure projects
00:09:49were initiated, revived or completed.
00:09:53Major road corridors connected communities once
00:09:56isolated by por access, water
00:10:00infrastructure expanded to previously under south
00:10:03districts, transportation received renewed
00:10:07attention through modern bus terminals
00:10:10and strategic transit corridors. public schools, health
00:10:14facilities and urban renewal projects became
00:10:17part of a broader development agenda. uh,
00:10:21Mr. Project, the FCT minister have done so...
00:10:25well for Abuja, the
00:10:27FCT, um,
00:10:30sometimes, I would say, I talk to the
00:10:34people around me and I, I tell them, I say, are you sure this
00:10:38project, Mr. Project is doing, are they real
00:10:42projects or are they AI generated projects?
00:10:46because the pace, the quality and the
00:10:50size the project which he carries out,
00:10:54I want to see... sincerly congratulate you,
00:10:57the FCT minister, our very own mister
00:11:00project, sincery speaking, not on the basis
00:11:04of sentiments, you have done so well, how
00:11:08you do what you do we don't know, you did this
00:11:12in River State, which I'm a proud
00:11:16indigent of, and that makes you our father,
00:11:19and here you are, making us proud again in the f
00:11:22city, 'there's no
00:11:26amount of thank you that we will say to you that will be
00:11:30enough for raising our heads up
00:11:33high for flying and carrying us up
00:11:37high there, you have done so well and how you
00:11:41work so tirelessly still amazes us,
00:11:45irrespective the
00:11:47criticism, criticisms are good and welcome when they are
00:11:51very constructive, but the very unconstructive'.
00:11:55criticism that are born out of hate and
00:11:58jealousy, with all that, you still keep it flying,
00:12:02still achieving giant strides, we want to say
00:12:06thank you. across every sector touched by the wike
00:12:09administration, the story is remarkably
00:12:13consistent, deliberate focus on
00:12:16transformation, a commitment to delivery,
00:12:19determination to turn plants into tangible results for the
00:12:23people the federal. capital
00:12:25territory,
00:12:30mean you can't walk with wik and then not feel, know
00:12:34that this is good governance or good
00:12:37leadership.
00:12:43what places my heart is that it does not focus on road
00:12:46projects only in the municipality, he also looks at the
00:12:50suburbs, and the LGAs, for the first time in the history of
00:12:54Abuja.
00:12:55the the suburbs, the LGS are getting um, the satellite towns and
00:12:59communities are getting serious attention, you know,
00:13:02and that has reduced you know the
00:13:05overconcentration of people within the
00:13:09municipality,
00:13:10you know, that has also increased the value of land and
00:13:13property around the area, another thing that pleases my heart
00:13:17is, the ease with which he
00:13:21signs c ofos, hear he has signed over 25.
00:13:25CFOs, which
00:13:26is more
00:13:26than all
00:13:27they have signed 13 years ago put
00:13:28together.
00:13:35The minister empowed our local
00:13:37vigilantes, he bought motorcycles
00:13:41and distributed all over the federal capital
00:13:45territory, and that is the movement
00:13:49of our local vigilanty. In
00:13:52fact, that was one the reason. by
00:13:55today, especially in council, you
00:13:59hardly hear of banditry or
00:14:03kidnapping activities injena, it was as
00:14:06result of that
00:14:09empowerment he gave our local vigilanty,
00:14:13because the minister came down and met with
00:14:17us, we discussed it over and over
00:14:20and he promised he is going to do his best, and actually he
00:14:24did.
00:14:29uh, come to
00:14:31infrastructures, there's
00:14:35a street here within Quali
00:14:38that the minister completed and named after Dr.
00:14:42Lidi, that's
00:14:45street, the contract was awarded for, I think over
00:14:4916 years and about two or three
00:14:51administrations uh worked on that. that
00:14:55street and couldn't complete it, but the minister came out
00:14:59within one month that was completed and
00:15:02commissioned. we have the yangoji sukuku
00:15:06road in the 80s and even early
00:15:10this like in 2023 you
00:15:13really could travel along that
00:15:17route without having hitches, in
00:15:21fact it became um the den for criminals because uh
00:15:25British surveillances were very difficult because the state
00:15:29the road, the local government made
00:15:32attempts to grading the road, but wassing the
00:15:36situation. but the minister
00:15:38allocate
00:15:42uh um picked that project as one of his
00:15:46um uh work to do and he completed it, you
00:15:50can go see that road, the roads we used to travel
00:15:53like 45 to one hour to get to those
00:15:57community, you cannot fly within 10
00:16:00minutes and it's
00:16:03good for everyone and one impact that... has
00:16:07created is to open weight
00:16:10for um farmers to bring out the bring out
00:16:14their goods and then improves the value the lands in those
00:16:18areas and make the community accessible uh
00:16:22to people and also provides conveniences for people to
00:16:26travel uh uh seamlessly we also
00:16:30have the pay gommeny road uh
00:16:34the pi gomini dafa roads i we say
00:16:38we awarded and and completed and
00:16:42what's that uh that job uh has done is
00:16:46to connect four political words they
00:16:49were neglected and that road
00:16:53is one the most important route to the
00:16:56denfats
00:16:58because uh tax
00:17:01collectors use those routes to assess communities to
00:17:05get tax for the den colonial administration,
00:17:08but yet nobody remembered, and one of
00:17:12those projects, the president and the
00:17:16commander and chief himself commissioned part of
00:17:19that projects sometime last year,
00:17:22so it's a
00:17:25lot that has happened concerning
00:17:29road
00:17:29infrastructures.
00:17:36i was on but as a permanent secretary of
00:17:40transportation we saw the
00:17:44rail project come to life, as at
00:17:47today, even after commissioning in 2024, the rail
00:17:51is still run free, there's no
00:17:54payment, and I know the number of
00:17:57committers that rail has
00:18:01carried since the inauguration till now, just not to go too
00:18:04far, few weeks ago we commission 31.
00:18:07projects w all around the whole of f
00:18:10city. followed up to one commissioning
00:18:14the pi gomani road and the president
00:18:18himself came for the commissioning of that project if you have my
00:18:22own lifetime growing up as a child never saw any nigerian president in my village
00:18:26never did that and so for president
00:18:29Ahmed to have come to the villages
00:18:33mean what they have done in fct is like
00:18:36bringing hope, renewing, restoring
00:18:40hope, they renewed hope, restoring
00:18:44hope, and so I think um, that's a
00:18:48good way to highlight what they are
00:18:51doing, I'm really impressed by what the
00:18:54FCT administration is doing in terms of connectivity between the
00:18:58local community and the city, before now we didn't have
00:19:02that, but with the construction of roads to local
00:19:06community, that enable people to move faster to the
00:19:10city and back again, not only people, even the goods
00:19:13also.
00:19:20i want to start by appreciating
00:19:24mr. president, the president of federal republic of
00:19:27Nigeria, his excellency, president
00:19:31Bola Ahmad Tinibu for giving us Mr.
00:19:34Projects as the FCT Minister.
00:19:41I want to specifically talk on
00:19:45the support, the empowerment this
00:19:48administration has brought to FCT
00:19:51natives, days are
00:19:54gone that lot the
00:19:58youth in FCT has nowhere
00:20:01to go and seek for empowerment, but with the
00:20:05advent of this administration,
00:20:13an organization,
00:20:15operates open secretariat for that, and that is the
00:20:19native of FCT to work from the
00:20:23adomer to that place to assess their
00:20:26empowerment. The first thing he
00:20:29does, immediately he arrab to
00:20:31FCT, is distribution of over 30
00:20:35vehicles to the... of FCT,
00:20:39as you can see behind me is one the vehicle
00:20:43distributed and it was given to us as
00:20:47the native of FCT and that...
00:20:50is our transportation
00:20:53across the villages in
00:20:55fc.
00:21:01he really assists the kuali area council by constructing this
00:21:05roads and about four five years ago even to
00:21:09to drive machine from here to to pay it will take you
00:21:13one and half hour but now is just less than 15
00:21:17minutes drive to pay there are so many villages. insights
00:21:21that used to produce their foods at times before they get to the
00:21:25market it will take them one two to three days before they get to market but today
00:21:28buyers used to follow them down to that place you see this road
00:21:32now before this road was empty the road used to be empty before
00:21:36nobody by this junction before when you pass that place it was a dust the dust will
00:21:40cover you but now you can see the the number of people that are gathering there
00:21:44they are up to 100 and and some them used to make 20,000 a
00:21:48day for as a profit some to make 30,000 as a
00:21:51profit for the benefit of this
00:21:53road.
00:21:58i want to start by specially thank his
00:22:01excellency presidentibu, the president of
00:22:05federal republic of Nigeria that have touched the three
00:22:09aspect of human life or even more than three aspect of human life in Kuali
00:22:13Area Council, security, education and
00:22:17infrastructure. so we want to say very big thank you. to president
00:22:20the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as our
00:22:24working minister, his excellency,
00:22:28barrister Nelson Wike. I want to shock you or surprise you that the day
00:22:32they were commissioning this route, the president came down himself to come
00:22:36and commission this route, seen the president renewed
00:22:40my hope and now believe that the best thing that will happen
00:22:44to Nigeria and Nigerians in 2027 is to return
00:22:47to as the president of federal republic of
00:22:51Nigeria, as such, I want to say thank you to Mr.
00:22:54President, thank you to our walking minister, and God bless
00:22:57you.
00:23:02I want to tell you that the kind of developmental
00:23:05stride that Kuje in the last two to three years
00:23:09has experience was
00:23:12massive, was unprecedented. Thank God for the
00:23:16president that brought the work and... do
00:23:20minister week he has engaged in
00:23:23construction of roads across kuje area council kuje has
00:23:27been has now been connected to other part
00:23:30the FCT and it's in line with
00:23:33the renew help of

00:23:55thank,
00:23:56we thank the president for using our minister,
00:24:00help
00:24:00us
00:24:06with water, development is measured not only by announcement,
00:24:10but by what people experienced in kwali, roads
00:24:14traveled in kuje, water flowing in buari, children
