00:02:19i'm happy
00:02:21that most of you are from northern part of
00:02:23me nigeria, where i
00:02:23me come from, where all of
00:02:25me us come from, if anybody has to work for the unity
00:02:29of net. Nigeria is

00:02:42we can build a stronger Nigeria, a more united
00:02:46Nigeria in Nigeria that will work for the
00:02:49prosperity, common prosperity of
00:02:52of the common man
00:02:53of the street, but as the party is gaining
00:02:57more members is it gaining the confidence. of
00:03:00Nigerians, as race to 2027 election
00:03:04intensifies, the government's proposed petrol price
00:03:07measures have
00:03:08of reopened of the debate over subsidy, the cost of reform and the
00:03:12relief
00:03:13of households are still waiting for. The minister gave the
00:03:16nation the new price and petroleum administration regime and its
00:03:20protocol. Pump
00:03:24of prices should not have to
00:03:27follow every swing
00:03:29of in of global. crude or the exchange rate, the
00:03:33government is negotiating sealing of 1,350
00:03:37nar a liter on the guntry or
00:03:41of landing cost of petrol to keep on prices
00:03:43stable, where cost right
00:03:46of above the
00:03:47of ceiling, refiners and importers will carry the
00:03:51shortfall and recover it later, when crude prices or
00:03:55exchange rates allow without brising the
00:03:57ceiling, this is neither is subsidy not a
00:04:01price control of course on that
00:04:05announcement barrage of responses and
00:04:08reactions have trilled it and it's coming so fast
00:04:11opposition leaders are giving their thoughts have
00:04:15criticisms on the APC governments
00:04:19of decisions.
00:04:22a
00:04:29me a how of of of of many and
00:04:32stations
00:04:33of the country? less than 1, you
00:04:37also propose a measure to
00:04:39of content of
00:04:39prices,
00:04:44but when
00:04:44me i propose targeted supports, you call
00:04:48me ignorant of economic
00:04:50policy, your government said it could not be
00:04:53done, now
00:04:57me in a desperate and cl retreat, you have sham.
00:05:02of of
00:05:11It means that is: 6,400 per
00:05:13month, are we not in trouble? opposition
00:05:17candidates are challenging president obu record,
00:05:21while disputes within the ruling party raised questions about
00:05:25his unity and readiness for the all
00:05:29important 2027 polls tonight on the program, we
00:05:33put those questions to the man with at his center of
00:05:36it all, the APC national chairman professor
00:05:40entawe, can his party turn
00:05:43political strength into better living conditions and
00:05:47make a convincing case for another mandate.
00:05:51i'm shi, welcome to the program everyone and good evening, thank you so
00:05:55much for joining us, prof, good evening, sh, it's good to see you, good meeting you
00:05:58too. how are you today? uh, great. all right, mean it's
00:06:02interesting, and we getting nearer to the election. i saw that
00:06:05you went on vacation and have you recuperated enough
00:06:09to get started for the election? not. do vacation, i went
00:06:13to plan, oh you went on retreat, yes, personal
00:06:17retreat to plan, and i came back straight to
00:06:20medi for retreat with all the working, national working
00:06:24committee the party, all the state uh
00:06:27chairman and the critical people that will play a role in 2027
00:06:31general election, i was with them for four days in three days in my
00:06:35degree and um, it was we ex-ray the
00:06:38party, we look at our strength, we look at our weaknesses,
00:06:42and we look at the opportunities are there for us to win the election and we measure
00:06:46ourself, we
00:06:47are good to go, so it was all true also that you were sort
00:06:51of inducing people, bribing them, 5 billion for
00:06:54governors, two billion for senators, 1 billion for house
00:06:58of reps, house of assembly like that, like that, I'm sure, I'm
00:07:02sure, I'm sure that's what they're doing, they said you're doling out money, that's that's what they're doing
00:07:06rather as opposition, they've done all they can to
00:07:09win even a word chairman in our party, win
00:07:12it, that's the least they would have done, they can't even
00:07:16get one person from ap to come to their party,
00:07:20so do you actually bripe people? oh, do you actually bride me
00:07:24to come here? ask you, i ask for, ask you
00:07:27also, so the people that are defecting, i'm asking, are you
00:07:31bribing them in the real sense, do you give them any incentives? let
00:07:34me, let me, let ask, let ask you lear them with anything, let ask you a
00:07:38question, when governs were coming, they said we're paying each governor
00:07:42to defect 200 billion, that's a
00:07:46figure, that's what they gave, now we moved over how many
00:07:50governors, we're taking of how many trillions that would have
00:07:53moved, you can't moved like 3
00:07:56trillion out of economy, without the economy
00:07:59shaking and without the movement
00:08:02being seen, without the trail, without the trust, are you paying them in
00:08:05inst, but that's what they claim, you see so when people make
00:08:09claims, big claims, I would have asked,
00:08:13I would have loved them to bring evidence, but the seeds people are
00:08:17just just propagandis, they made one them,
00:08:21one the sportman of ADC made one statement to tell you how
00:08:25they don't even know what's happening even in government in their country, he
00:08:28said the total amount given to the students for student
00:08:32loan is 20,000 per
00:08:34annum, he did even know that we pay school
00:08:38fees, the whole school fees the the
00:08:42students. the amount, what is 5 million, 3 million, 4
00:08:45million is paid for you, but every month we give
00:08:49them 10, 20,000 for up, the assumed because one
00:08:53them, those students that got the money and they were on air, they were
00:08:57celebrating, and they say we paid our 20 thousand, he
00:09:00assumed that is amount being given to them, they don't even study the
00:09:04document, they don't have time to for regos, they don't have time for details
00:09:08and that's why the the the the
00:09:12craft go to
00:09:13the air with those numbers and just throw them to the air, well give us an
00:09:17understanding, what evidence shows that
00:09:21these defactors reflect public
00:09:24approval of president's policies or these
00:09:28government's policies rather than politicians calculating where their
00:09:32careers are safest, because everyone politicians want
00:09:36safe haven for them, are you winning over nigerians or you
00:09:40are simply recruiting, let me let ask you these politicians, who are these
00:09:44Nigerians? are politicians not
00:09:46Nigerians? do you want to separate Nigerian into
00:09:49categories? which category going to place people that don't actually
00:09:53support, but and who told you
00:09:56that only people that people would on the policies of this
00:10:00government? of course, of course, but you listen to
00:10:04the the the statements, the
00:10:06confession, let ask
00:10:10question, me the you a let take one
00:10:14candidates, his excellency was the vice
00:10:16president, he chaired the economic team
00:10:20as 1999,
00:10:222003. he privatized most the critical
00:10:26infrastructure of this country, let me take one
00:10:29them, the aluminium spelling company
00:10:33aquibon, he caught penny, it was
00:10:37built for $3.5 billion US dollars, it was
00:10:41sold for less than 130 million US
00:10:43dollars, less than 4% the cost
00:10:47of building infrastructure, you mean that in less than
00:10:51five years the company was less was either
00:10:55it has degraded by
00:10:5796%
00:11:01in this
00:11:01are not listening and they don't know
00:11:05the the the the iron smelting
00:11:09company in in delta the iron in
00:11:13delta it was built for 1.5 billion US
00:11:15dollars it was sold for 3000 for 30 million yes
00:11:19dollars just about
00:11:223% the cost. of building construction, you mean
00:11:26has degraded in less than in about 10 years
00:11:30and accountable for this, of course these people
00:11:34are, these are facts, people are reading it, people
00:11:37know, people know, he came out and even
00:11:41confess, he said he's sorry to nigerians and we
00:11:45made mistake in the power sector, because they spent 15 billion,
00:11:49we couldn't see anything that the f 15 billion us dollars that was
00:11:52invested in that sector,
00:11:54you know, now so we you can visibly see what
00:11:58we're doing, but what are the legacy of
00:12:01articu? which the
00:12:05companies when he came in
00:12:07Toyota Pujo was functional, it was
00:12:11running, all the cars that were given national assembly members 1999 came
00:12:15from Pujo, he privatized it, today pujo,
00:12:19after privat, pujo cannot produce one i mean,
00:12:23you are sing. he was vice president, he was vice
00:12:26president, but he he chaired the privat
00:12:29company, committee, and you think
00:12:33he ch, he chted, of
00:12:35course, and for this reason
00:12:38you don't think that giving you one example, just give
00:12:41an example, mean you can't put him side by side with
00:12:45president b, how is your candidate better than
00:12:49article, far better, now i'll give you many
00:12:52factors, presidentable met
00:12:56legos at roughly about 18 about 14
00:13:00billion naira per annum roughly today we are
00:13:04talking about over a
00:13:06trillion revenue is sort of
00:13:09institution institutions to work in the rail
00:13:13the blue line the red line in lagos red line
00:13:17today they are all functional he said that lasma is
00:13:21functional institutions
00:13:25another institution build up lagos, he came today, he came up
00:13:28here, what has he done, first he set up the tax regime, new
00:13:32tax tax law, tax law has brought in has free
00:13:36in more resources for the poorest the poor in this
00:13:38country, before now you recall before
00:13:42this tax reform, if you have bicycle in the village, you pay tax for
00:13:46bicycle, you pay tax for radio, you pay tax for
00:13:50tv, you pay tax for even the chicken you are taking to
00:13:54go and sell in the market. you are going to sell vegetable, you pay tax for it,
00:13:57today your turnover must be more than 100 million na before you pay
00:14:01tax on it, it has free money for the less
00:14:04privilege for the SMEs to strive, business Nigeria to
00:14:08strive, before now, if
00:14:11you're a civil servant, if you're earning even 10 n your
00:14:14tax today, if you're earning less than 800
00:14:18thousand per annum, you not paid, me not tax, for
00:14:22any salary you earning per annum, they will deduct the... first 100, the
00:14:26first um 800 thousand for you the before they will start
00:14:30taxing you and they also give you housing the they
00:14:34defer housing this for you so you have a percentage
00:14:38also that that they dox your salary are for for also for
00:14:41for for rent so you know there are so much that has
00:14:45come to the poreest to the poor in terms the tax regime
00:14:49favoring the poorest the poor this is reform the government has done but that
00:14:53same tax have brought mom to government, it has brought more people to tax
00:14:57net, people that us don't used to pay tax before, they brought tax net,
00:15:01and it has increased tax the country without affecting the policy the poor,
00:15:05and the same way he has done for power, the new power regime
00:15:08allow for the states and
00:15:12private citizen to generate power, sell to the
00:15:16to individuals, sell to government and also they can
00:15:19generate, they can transmit and they can distribute as
00:15:23states now, this opportunity has given the state that
00:15:27generating power, of course you know that b has already commissioned their
00:15:30own has already commission their
00:15:33own, the same thing with you, no state
00:15:37administer. government inugu has already no commission uh their
00:15:40projects to, where were they before? i can go on and
00:15:44on and on and tell the policy
00:15:47defectors, yes, can you categorically tell
00:15:51nigerians that joining APC guarantees
00:15:55neither a ticket nor protection from
00:15:58investigation, and how do you explain how your party makes
00:16:02that these defectors are not holding, these defectors are
00:16:04not even holding a position in government, and they are not running
00:16:08from the law, they're running from the law, because
00:16:10like okay, the feeling is that once anybody enter into
00:16:14ABC is covered, all his sing them
00:16:17today is a professor who was running for the house of
00:16:21representative on the ADC, he opted to
00:16:25leave to join us, these are these are not
00:16:28giving
00:16:29him any ticket, nothing, you are not protecting from
00:16:32the law been closed, we can't even make the statement that once
00:16:36anybody enter in your party is protected from the law, no, all
00:16:40his sins
00:16:42are are forgiven, give me one evidence, there are there are very notable
00:16:45nigerians undergoing
00:16:48prosecution, and all of sudden once they enter into your party, there's
00:16:52some kind of quiet, give me one evidence, the the the
00:16:55allegations is actually the statement is linked to a
00:16:59senior member of your party, give me one evidence,
00:17:03should we go to delta state, yes, the former governor?
00:17:08so if and has procedusion stopped? when
00:17:12last did hear anything about that? i say has pr stopped i mean i'm
00:17:16asking sir, have you heard anything recently about? he left office which
00:17:19year 2023? how many
00:17:23years ago? it's about three and a half years ago? good. so
00:17:27he defect our the prosecution
00:17:30started which year before he left your party? no, before
00:17:34before he left office even.
00:17:38so all of sudden there is no, even before then, of course it's a
00:17:42procedure, i just wanted to get your commitment
00:17:46that anybody coming to your party is not, as soon
00:17:50as the enter your party, they are not safe from the law, they are not, they are not
00:17:53protected, nobody protected, nobody is
00:17:56protected,
00:17:59i don't
00:17:59want to mention names, but i know members of our party alsoing
00:18:02prosecution, who appear in the court
00:18:05every day? and you mean tell me
00:18:09that are they less members the APC? now you know
00:18:12anybody, as long as you've not been
00:18:14convicted, we assumed that you're
00:18:18innocent, because that's what the law says, so as as as
00:18:22APC members, we can't use strict
00:18:25prosecution to go ahead and deny people that fundamental human
00:18:29rights. you are having a lot of problems, you say you have done a lot
00:18:33of internal problems and i'll give
00:18:49to you sir, you have problem in chinas i have many problem
00:18:53also,
00:18:53as every private organization do the same thing with the party, so no political
00:18:57party and i'll point this out to you sir, yes
00:19:00um you said you've done the retreat, the internal
00:19:04ranker within your party, what mechanism have you put in place
00:19:08to reserving them, now let me just
00:19:11um put it up to you first, we put up there are
00:19:15prefault um approach that we've
00:19:18done, so we analyze them, we look at the risk
00:19:21factor, we look at the actors in each the states
00:19:25and we set up different committees to reach
00:19:29out to people based on where the risk
00:19:32factor, the people actors involved and the
00:19:36people they can listen to. and also
00:19:38we don't even
00:19:39have major issues, mean major issues like
00:19:43cattina we don't have any major issue, masari and the
00:19:46governor that
00:19:47has been resolved was family
00:19:49issue, no
00:19:53major issue really, yes a lot the
00:19:57members of your party have left and they said that now sitting
00:20:00senator the APC has gotten a ticket in the PDP,
00:20:04they said the center.
00:20:08but for the other position is against the APC.
00:20:12now when you said somebody has left the
00:20:16party, the first question as are we engaging him as
00:20:20a party? are you the people
00:20:21are engaging them? are you? of course, and there are specifically
00:20:25onkara mat, how
00:20:27are you reserving it? we we have we have mechanism the people, the
00:20:30feeling out there inquiry is that there is no way APC can win
00:20:34governorship or any, that's that's your own feeling, no, i said the feeler.
00:20:37that's your own feeler
00:20:41now let me just you know the is people like you make
00:20:44assumption there are people have assumption that only quar central can
00:20:48produce a governor and that's what your belief is
00:20:51to and because statistically believe that karata
00:20:55central bring the highest number of votes to the table and that's why they
00:20:59can always be the people that table to win the election. quar
00:21:03south produces the least number of votes in the
00:21:06state. para south has produced a governor.
00:21:10para north is the second in terms of voting strength
00:21:13of paras of quar state they may not produce a
00:21:17governor they have actually but
00:21:19not in this. public, not this republic, that was
00:21:2391, and he definition, all the governors that
00:21:27have come in from Lawal in 1999 till
00:21:30till date, only one
00:21:32person is from, all the rest are froma central, so the party in his
00:21:36own wisdom fell that they should be inclusion and they
00:21:40moved the seat to the kara
00:21:43note, the pr center people are not happy because they
00:21:47failed they should have it. but the qu not
00:21:51are very happy, mean very happy that for
00:21:55the first time a part political party
00:21:59is given in the first right of
00:22:01denial, so even when the governor at the first
00:22:05endorsed,
00:22:09now you see a governor is as an
00:22:12individual, the party is
00:22:15institution, so the institution is greater than any
00:22:19individual in the party. was your leadership that prevailed on the
00:22:22governor for you to have not s not
00:22:26a northern candidate from karara you know they have the
00:22:29stakeholders and there are there institution the party at
00:22:33the state level so we don't actually make a choice to people choice
00:22:37to to the state who they want to make their governor or the senatural
00:22:41candidate but there are stakeholders that are engaged so he wasn't the president
00:22:45or your office never it was people it was an
00:22:49engagement. engagement is costing the party
00:22:52is is
00:22:53is a threat to your party in there's nowhere that you can take a
00:22:56decision on um when you have contestant you have 16
00:23:00contestant to one position sarakid's popularity is swaring now
00:23:04no APC is as that's that's your
00:23:07thinking giving you know you are in abuja
00:23:11i'm a journalist and
00:23:13i have my ey
00:23:15your ears your ears are based on sentiment listen
00:23:19to I take
00:23:20you to, yes and the deputy senate
00:23:24president, you're late, that's a problem, you're late, I saw the meeting with the
00:23:27governor, and
00:23:31those are photos, told you that the real problem has not been
00:23:35resolved, well now is supposed to resolve this problem, is not the
00:23:39party, and we're here and we say we resolved
00:23:43it, now let me just tell
00:23:45you, there's no political
00:23:48party. "there's no political party that you're bringing
00:23:52millions of people in only one roof and
00:23:56you said you don't have little frictions, but you not look at the
00:24:00overall threat to the system and the
00:24:02party,
00:24:05all
00:24:07the all the election will be winning, in those states they may have their
00:24:10little difference all those, but when it comes to the overall interest the
00:24:14party, what matters is how we
00:24:18can go and win the election." so we have the majority
00:24:21behind you, yes, I can mention, I can go on and
00:24:24on, Ogun, Jigawa, Balchi, Sokoto and
00:24:28everywhere there are problems in your party, but the question I'm asking you
00:24:32tonight is lot of your members who are watching now and who
00:24:36are worried that some these fictions that you're talking about and you
00:24:39have uh decided on on this interview to downgrade
00:24:43those those crisis those
00:24:46are thinking
00:24:47that is major threat.
00:24:51party: naturally, when somebody is injured or when somebody is
00:24:54angry, he expresses himself, which will allow as a
00:24:58party, is a fundamental human right to express themselves,
00:25:02but the people who are comfortable, they don't come out to express
00:25:06themselves, so maybe in Karno, you have about three f people have come out to
00:25:10express themselves, they come on camera on tv and express that they're
00:25:14angry, meanwile there are millions of people, members the party in
00:25:18Kano who don't even have any problem. with what's happening and they are
00:25:21comfortable with the party, they're happy with the party, then you
00:25:25used, of course - going to do sentiment analysis based on what you hear on tv,
00:25:29you feel there's a huge
00:25:30mold in canal that you cannot even move. all right, so give a
00:25:34moment, we take a break everyone, but when we
00:25:37return, they say the APC is under
00:25:40intense pressure by his own policy, and the
00:25:44opposition is saying nigerians are suffering and
00:25:47angry. article believes that... is one
00:25:51unifying factor the voters and they will use this
00:25:55as a tool against the APC. the plans is to
00:25:58ensure that b and the APC does not have
00:26:02a place in the next election and I'll be asking the national chairman the
00:26:06APC, whether or not their party is in
00:26:09trouble and 2027 election is
00:26:13going to be a problem for them, we'll be right back after the break everyone, join us
00:26:17again.
