00:00:38of the victims
00:00:39of the October 5 air crash. The fatal air

00:00:54of sadness over the loss of lives, praying for the repose
00:00:57of the souls
00:00:57of the victims. He laments that The incident had resulted
00:01:01in the pollution
00:01:02of the river which the community depends on for drinking and
00:01:06other
00:01:06purposes.
00:01:12We want to send our
00:01:15sincere
00:01:17of heartfelt
00:01:18of condolences to the families that lost their
00:01:22loved ones within our
00:01:24of territory. It is rather
00:01:27unfortunate, but we want to appeal to them. to see
00:01:31it as part
00:01:33of of what God allowed and should
00:01:36find time to live beyond it
00:01:40and see what nest in
00:01:42of life that they can hold to. my

00:01:57those that were with him in the plane.
00:02:01"it's going to be painful to
00:02:02of you, to your family and friends,
00:02:06but to us, he is hero within us and
00:02:10of we will celebrate him, the only luck we have is that the plane
00:02:14did not crash within the community, which would have taken lives
00:02:18within here, but even when it has not taken lives of our people
00:02:21directly, it's going to take lives eventually because our people cannot drink
00:02:25from this water now, and we do not have
00:02:27alternative. that's the water we
00:02:30fetch to cook, that's the water we drink from,
00:02:34that's the water we use for our day-to-day lives and
00:02:38if
00:02:39of today
00:02:39it is that polluted, the stench is nothing
00:02:43else, but
00:02:45of from dead bodies that are infested the
00:02:49waters as it were,
00:02:51of and the implication is that we have
00:02:55to st for some time without
00:02:59fish. without water to drink, it is
00:03:02unfortunate. The

00:06:49measures to prevent electoral violence, safeguard voters
00:06:52and ensure a peaceful conduct the elections. no
00:06:56matter
00:06:56how highly places he is, would not allow and will not tolerate political
00:07:00violence, will not uh tolerate thugry, whoever you think you
00:07:04are, the laws are there, everybody must follow and we will not
00:07:07spare anybody. in his response, the resident electoral commissioner
00:07:11Mr. she hub expresses confidence in the ability the

00:07:22local government areas to strengthen collaboration with divisional police
00:07:26officers for effective coordination and prompt response to
00:07:30security threats. the structure they are putting in place
00:07:34is such that apart from those that are posted to polling

00:07:41going to be employed differently because those ones
00:07:45are going to sleep with the our officials a day before. the

00:08:41My name. remains a major source of livelihood for hundreds of
00:08:45youth and women in plateau state, but the dangers
00:08:48associated with unregulated operations continue to
00:08:52raise concerns, following series of fatal mining accidents
00:08:56and attacks in plateau and other parts the country, the
00:08:59plateau state government says it is taking strategic steps to
00:09:03reorganize the sector for improved safety, efficiency
00:09:07and economic benefits. our correspondent Percy
00:09:11Debang reports.
00:09:15every day hundreds of youths and women troop to mine insight across
00:09:19plateau state to extract in and columbite and other mineral
00:09:23resources providing a source of livelihood for
00:09:26many. while some minors depend on
00:09:30manual labor, others use heavy equipment including
00:09:34excavators to extract the
00:09:35minerals.
00:09:40but these activities come with serious ris. including
00:09:43collapsing pets, flooding and threats to critical
00:09:46infrastructure.
00:09:50mining close to high tension electricity transmission lines
00:09:54thrighting the supporting structures invenger miners, surrounding
00:09:58communities and national assets. the dangers are reflected in
00:10:01recent reports which identified at least 29 deads in five
00:10:05mining accidents and 13 deaths in four attacks on mining
00:10:09sights across the country in the past three months. in
00:10:13Niger state, 37 suspected illegal miners also
00:10:16died in the custody the Nigeran Security and Civil Defense
00:10:20Core, although the cause their dead is yet to be
00:10:23conclusively established.
00:10:28to address these concerns, the plateau state commissioner for environment,
00:10:32climate change and solid minerals alongside mining experts
00:10:35visited some mining sit in just south local government area to
00:10:39inspect operations and interact with artisanal
00:10:42miners, we see how we should coordinate all these local
00:10:46miners so that we will prevent what happen
00:10:50in Niger state and
00:10:51then k state and also the accident happen within ra
00:10:57the accident and then the the bandit th as well too, so if
00:11:01we don't synergize with those local artisan miners, there is no how we understand
00:11:04what is going on, the government want to take charge the
00:11:08artisanship these mining people, this mining operations are done in
00:11:12localities whereby it affects the people the
00:11:15states, so when we have this synergy and cooperation, definitely
00:11:19it's going to be a win-win
00:11:20situation, the
00:11:24miners also highlight the support they need from the government to
00:11:28improve their operations. we are not finding it's
00:11:30easy, it is so difficult and later
00:11:34on you not see what you gain or you just have a small
00:11:38change which is not helpful. with the
00:11:42government being involved maybe we reduce the risk
00:11:46of uh the accidents and the mining
00:11:50sites. as the government moves to bring miners into a more
00:11:53organized framework, The expectation is that with stronger
00:11:57regulations, proper monitoring and continuous engagement, mining
00:12:00will become safer and further prevent loss of lives from the
00:12:04gudabu mining site in just north local government area of plateau
00:12:08state, percy, daban, channel's television
00:12:12news. Governor Uba Sani of
00:12:15Kaduna State is calling on northern political leaders to develop
00:12:19a common development blueprint to address the region's
00:12:23challenges, particularly the... high number of out of school
00:12:26children, maternal and child mortality and inadequate

00:12:37Foundation, who paid him a curtsy visit at the Sir
00:12:41Kashim Ibrahim government house in
00:12:43Kaduna. the challenges of education,
00:12:47health care and human capital development in northern Nigeria have
00:12:51continued to raise concerns among stakeholders with governor
00:12:55Assani of Kaduna State calling for a coordinated approach to address the
00:12:59situation.
00:13:03Receiving the leadership the Sir Amadu Bello Memorial
00:13:06Foundation, the governor urges northern political leaders to look
00:13:10beyond the struggle for political power and focus on developing
00:13:14a common agenda that will improve the lives the
00:13:17people. He identifies the
00:13:21high number of out of school children, the shortage of skill based.
00:13:25education and inadequate healthcare delivery is major
00:13:28challenges requiring urgent and collective action.
00:13:32the last time we check from the Unicef statistics, we are
00:13:36talking about 18 million people out in the whole of
00:13:39Nigeria and out the 18 million
00:13:4370% are domicide here in northern Nigeria. in
00:13:46Nigeria what all listed have done a
00:13:49holistic, we have
00:13:52accommodate holistic process in ad. with children because our
00:13:56household mapping exercise, the federal government have seen
00:14:00it and they have realized that we have reached at
00:14:04least to 600 363
00:14:08households to be able to identify 550,
00:14:12other school children in kaluna state. earlier, the foundation's
00:14:15delegation led by former Nija state governor, Mr.
00:14:19Babangida Aliu thanked the kaduna state government for its
00:14:22commitment to improving education. and primary health
00:14:26careare, urging other states to follow suit.
00:14:30how can we stop begging, particularly
00:14:33children that
00:14:34are supposed to be in school begging on our
00:14:36streets? we hope that you will
00:14:40use your usual good nature to really
00:14:44encourage and bring about
00:14:47stopping the begging so that every child
00:14:51that should go to school is attending schools.
00:14:55As the meeting comes to an end, governor Sanni says the challenges
00:14:58confronting Northern Nigeria cannot be tackled in
00:15:02isolation, underscoring the need for a coordinated
00:15:05regional approach driven by common development
00:15:08agenda.

00:16:17Welcome back, we continue in Zampara state where the government has
00:16:21defended a statement by governor Dalda Lawal that his
00:16:24administration has executed projects worth 20 billion
00:16:28naira each the 14 local government areas the
00:16:32state, the state's accountant general Mr. Ali Akilu
00:16:35Bungudu disclosed: during a budget performance and
00:16:39accountability meeting to review revenue generation,
00:16:43expenditure and the implementation of projects under the state's
00:16:462025 fiscal year. he noted that all the
00:16:50projects were reflected in the budget, adding that
00:16:5372% the budget was air-macked for capital
00:16:57expenditure, while the remaining 28% was
00:17:00allocated to recurrent expenditure.
00:17:04among the projects identified include road.
00:17:07structure, school projects, modern medical research
00:17:11center, smart city, food production initiatives,
00:17:14hospitals, the goso international conference center and the
00:17:18goso international sports
00:17:20center,
00:17:25a state like this or in every state you try to see, you make sure
00:17:29you spread projects across
00:17:33uh the 14 local governments we have, now we started
00:17:37with what, we call the urban uh
00:17:40renewal which is centered around the state capital, when you
00:17:44come your state capital should be
00:17:48intaxed then this so when we started like last year
00:17:52there was a lot of push from local government that
00:17:55are the governor the governor and government are only working in gusou we
00:17:59said yes we are not only working in gusou but we agree
00:18:03we have concentrated much effort in Gusao and that is
00:18:07just to make the capital city over
00:18:10renewal a reality, we have done that in
00:18:132025, in 2026, lot of projects were
00:18:17pushed outside the state capital, from
00:18:20bungudu to zurmi, to kawan
00:18:23namoda, to gumi, to
00:18:26mafara, to bakuura, every local government, like i
00:18:30mentioned during my speech, my boss, the executive governor mentioned that there
00:18:34is no local government that has not done. almost 20 billion
00:18:38and I want to tell people, I have records, only state
00:18:42funds, apart from works that have been done at local government
00:18:46level.
00:18:51On the foreign scene, power cuts have been reported in three Ukrainian
00:18:55regions following Russian strikes on energy infrastructure,
00:18:58despite US President Donald Trump's announcement of what he called an
00:19:02energy seizfire. Ukrainian president Vlodimir Zelenski says
00:19:06Russia strong power plant shortly after President Trump
00:19:10announced the proposal and this raises fresh questions over whether the
00:19:14porse attacks will take effect. President Zelenski says
00:19:18Kieve is ready to support the arrangement if Moscow agrees, but the
00:19:21Kremlin is yet to respond. For now, the proposed sease fire
00:19:25remains uncertain as fresh strikes threaten power supplies
00:19:29and hopes for pause in the
00:19:31conflict.
00:19:35UK prime minister Andy B says Russia interfered in
00:19:39Britain's 2016 Brexit referendum, warning
00:19:43that similar disinformation campaigns and now targeting
00:19:47France and Germany. Speaking on the podcast, Prime Minister
00:19:51Burnham said he was given clear confirmation of
00:19:54Russia interfering after entering Downing
00:19:58Street, although he provided no details about the alleged activity
00:20:02or its impact on the result. The claims come amaid wider
00:20:06concerns over Russian. linked this information, including fake
00:20:09news websites and AI generated videos. Prime Minister
00:20:13Burnham says the UK must do more to protect democratic
00:20:16institutions as foreign interference concerns
00:20:20grow across
00:20:21Europe. And back here
00:20:25on the continent, Algerian authorities say they have arrested 61
00:20:29Moroccan nationals, suspected of planning acts of sabotage
00:20:33a case that could further strain relations between the North African
00:20:37navy. Morocco's security directorate says those
00:20:41detained allegedly belong to an international criminal network,
00:20:44among them is reportedly a former Moroccan army soldier, the
00:20:48arrests against the backdrop of decades long
00:20:52tensions between algers and rabbit, particularly over
00:20:56Western Sahara, the disputed territory claimed by Morocco and the
00:21:00focus of a pro Independence movement backed by
00:21:04Algeria. The two countries severed diplomatic relations in
00:21:072021, while their land border has remained closed
00:21:11since 1994. With relations already strange, the
00:21:15latest arres risk adding another layer of tension between the
