00:00:01to the leaders, is the leaders that know how to talk to the people? let a
00:00:04leader, whether is
00:00:05of the leader that help me to pay my children's feed my children or
00:00:09transport me to work,
00:00:10in the dad come and tell me who to vote for, so
00:00:12and that's why i say
00:00:13it is the people versus the APC, they are in delusion, so they keep
00:00:17telling the say oh win five stays, they are still looking at this, you see
00:00:202023 was was um was
00:00:23of like a primal election because people were looking at was baseline election and the
00:00:27three candidates none
00:00:29of them had that... being government being government, mean at that
00:00:32level was not president, um peter b was not
00:00:35president and bola was not, they were all candidates, but we've seen
00:00:39presidentubu in the last three years, we've
00:00:41in seen what is capable of doing and we say we don't like it, it has ruined our
00:00:45lives, it has not made our life better and we need a change, we need to
00:00:49go in the different direction, so if i can
00:00:51understand thinking that everything is fine,
00:00:55he just bought
00:00:56of gereguso, he doesn't he doesn't, he's
00:00:59of okay. Okay, but should go to, we should talk to the people in town and you see what
00:01:03they are, what they are, what they
00:01:08of are going, we're totally out of time uh, maybe if we can do this in
00:01:08of just one minute, because I'm literally out of time, the
00:01:12issue
00:01:13of the cour road, we understand there has
00:01:14been a realignment, what do you make of it, and this issue
00:01:19of of of uh, what do you call it now, price modulation as well, imagine
00:01:22discount
00:01:24non that is saying that the federal government copied from him, just your quick thought on these uh
00:01:28three things I've just raised or two things in one minute please, well I
00:01:31mean, I mean, the the the Calava
00:01:34Coastal, we can see call it
00:01:37of me coastal, I mean this is why we continue to say transparency, the rules about
00:01:41transparency in relation to procurement exist for
00:01:45of a reason, when you bypass that you pay, now nobody knew the terms of
00:01:49agreement, how they signed the contract, how they awarded the contract, the what
00:01:53in what the delivery deliverables are, now we don't know what they are going to do, how are they going
00:01:57to go, they say oh they
00:01:58in suddenly of found that they can no longer go along that road, but where did we do
00:02:02any competitive bidding for that contract? is the most
00:02:05in opaque contract ever awarded in Nigerian history, the most
00:02:09expensive per kilometer road ever awarded in Nigerian history, now they are
00:02:12turning around to tell us it cannot be done, so it is characteristics of this government to
00:02:16do this kind of thing, but let's see how they come out of it in the coming days. then on the
00:02:20issue of 30 days discount, well i we don't even
00:02:24know what to make of that, because since they have announced it, because sometimes when you find
00:02:28yourself
00:02:29of
00:02:29of in a
00:02:29in a ditch. the least you can do to yourself is to stop digging, what by
00:02:33making that
00:02:33of announcement, prices, even at the NNPC filling stations have risen up to
00:02:371,400 and more, because you when you read the details, say it was
00:02:41NNPC doing promo, and you ask yourself, if NNPC is doing promo,
00:02:45then what is the business
00:02:46of the government getting involved in that and using that to
00:02:49of to to disturb everyone and giving the impression that they are finally doing something about
00:02:53the heartship the people are going through, so is the is the
00:02:58in is their falsehood and their deceat catching up with them and and and they can't get out of it, Nigerians know
00:03:02what they are doing, they can't get out of it, I must thank you so
00:03:06much uh for coming through as always when we call on you, appreciate so much, we're happy
00:03:09that at least uh for this election we're going to be talking issues not muslinging, we're going
00:03:22does not adc does not do much slinging, we talk
00:03:24of about of issues, we still have three months to the election, let's see how that plays
00:03:27out but uh uh
00:03:31national publicity secretary, thank you so much, we appreciate, thank you sir,
00:03:34of appreciate, thank you, thank you, and we take a
00:03:38break, and when we come back after this break, we talk about what happened in Enogu state, did
00:03:41anybody die due to incident at the airport at the canubeam
00:03:45international airport over some campaign related issue
00:03:49of of the NDC, the government is speaking, the people are speaking, we'll find out details
00:03:52when we come back in just the moment, still with
00:03:55us

00:11:12Welcome back, let's switch guess now to what played out in Enogu state where we understand there was an
00:11:16incident at the akanu biam international airport w some persons from
00:11:20the NDC as part their campaign went to the airport maybe to welcome one
00:11:24their - persons, the guests and things turned uh a
00:11:28bit chaotic, and um,
00:11:32there were comments in fact there was another incident at the NDC secretariat
00:11:35to learn where someone was reportedly shot and died, but
00:11:39the government is saying none of this or not, nothing of such happened in
00:11:43terms the death, try to explain that it's not the only state government that
00:11:47had the, if you will fraka at the airport, but it is the airport
00:11:51authority and the NDC members, well we have the
00:11:55uh SSG of Denugu state government right here with us in Alego studio professor
00:11:58Chile Prof, thank you for coming on the program, thank you so much for having
00:12:02as i saw your release
00:12:05uh that they are insisting, in fact what is out there in terms of
00:12:09perception is that there's
00:12:12hostility against descent, there is not a
00:12:16level playing field for opposition to thrive augu
00:12:19state, is that what it is? so um
00:12:23again thank you for having me. "this is false
00:12:26narrative that is being occhistrated by uh
00:12:30some elements within the opposition group. Enogu
00:12:34states at no point in time is demonstrate
00:12:38any pushback against the
00:12:42opposition expressing themselves, interacting. In fact, the
00:12:46governor has been very clear that inugu
00:12:49states, one thing that we're very clear is that we're going to ensure
00:12:53that there no criminality. you know conducts that may
00:12:56undermine the security the state, but the governor is
00:13:00never had any issues about people interacting and
00:13:04engaging. uh, this incident again uh goes to
00:13:08point to that, incident that happened between the NDC and
00:13:12fan, and the NDC uh
00:13:16uh turned it around to make it into your thought, what really
00:13:20happened from the accounts you have? okay, so from our findings, because
00:13:23we also heard... but at that point in time we were at the ara
00:13:27square where over 10,000 teachers had
00:13:31gathered to endorse his excellency Dr. Peter Nube Simba, so when we
00:13:35started hearing this after the rally, we wanted to check
00:13:39to find out what happened, first we looked at the police uh
00:13:42release uh, what we gathered was that
00:13:46the uh supporters the candidate the
00:13:50NDC had uh gone to the
00:13:52airport for a the commencement of
00:13:56a state uh campaign rally,
00:14:00so at the point of entry into the
00:14:03airport, the airport authority pushed
00:14:07back, and it was that pushback that now
00:14:10engaged a joint security outfit to be able to
00:14:14disperse the crowd, and in that whole process there were
00:14:18bits of misunderstanding of course uh with police uh
00:14:22with the air force and airport authorities pushing
00:14:25people uh, some people ran off and he created that whole
00:14:29persona that there was an issue any state
00:14:32government does not run f and state government does not
00:14:36determine what a federal agency
00:14:39does so it's
00:14:41not an enable state so why why are they pointing in the direction the
00:14:44government so this goes to the pattern that they're trying to create
00:14:48fal narrative to come across as if they are the
00:14:52victims we believe an issue. based
00:14:55campaign where people present their own
00:14:59manifesto, their approach to governing and
00:15:03state that is outside what the govern is currently doing,
00:15:07issue based campaign or discussion, it's not something that is the governor
00:15:11is adverse to, is not something that we push back at,
00:15:15but if you look at what happened in all bfia earlier again
00:15:18a fraction the opposition had a
00:15:22frack and got into and incident, very violent incident,
00:15:26the police is now investigating and the individual who
00:15:30is a part the NDC is being held now reminded for further
00:15:34prosecution, again they turned around and said is the... abc
00:15:37led government and the governor that is also perpetrating that,
00:15:41so what we found out is that they are planning the
00:15:45opposition to bring in talks into the state to
00:15:49create this to to now support this force narrative
00:15:53that they put in there and enable state is invested significantly as
00:15:57you know into security and keeping our safe our state safe for
00:16:00everybody with a 30
00:16:03billion million dollar uh
00:16:07invest. ments that we're looking at bringing into inuugu state to build
00:16:10- gdp to 30 billion, the last thing we will do after all that
00:16:14significant investment is to now okay straight
00:16:18criminality a state so so so let's talk about something we read over the
00:16:22news, you can correct me if i'm wrong that because we're talking
00:16:25about giving everybody a level playing field yes uh we've seen
00:16:29and this is not unique to any state looks like
00:16:32i don't
00:16:33know is a nigerian thing where the dominant party seem to if you for instance
00:16:37it goes legos you see the president's uh bill
00:16:40board advatorials for the governor uh
00:16:43the the the candidate the the APC in the state as well
00:16:47as the president, I'm sure if you go to other states whose candidates of other
00:16:51parties similar things happen looks like they dominates and literally so where
00:16:55i'm going to with that is we understand that 150 million na
00:16:59is being charged as outdoor advertising uh
00:17:03bill for political campaign is that correct
00:17:07yes? It's correct, isn't
00:17:08that to, isn't that discrimination by price? Okay, so
00:17:12I'd like us to put it in context, yes, so the other
00:17:16states around, this is not an recently we also saw
00:17:20the one uh from the FCT, theogo is
00:17:24charging 150 million,
00:17:27million for the whole the party, for all the
00:17:30candidates the political
00:17:34parties that will be contesting any state and...
00:17:37state is charging about 250 million for
00:17:41candidates are you paying
00:17:42the are is the government paying that as well? the parties are going to pay, the
00:17:46government is not the one, this is APC, is APC going to pay
00:17:50that as well? so the APC uh government, the f5c
00:17:54party, if it is going to put up there,
00:17:57it is not, prof, prof, the governor is going to campaign for this election
00:18:01right or wrong, his posters and billbard are going to be all over the place, so
00:18:05his party has to pay every other person has to pay. Yes
00:18:07and we have not said that
00:18:11APC will get a free ride, we said that NSA,
00:18:15which is the agency that statutarily uh in charge of
00:18:19billbs and advertisement have set out a price for
00:18:22political parties, and this is not unique to any state like you pointed
00:18:26out, it's just that this again is part of
00:18:29that false narrative that we're trying to make things
00:18:33difficult for the opposition uh to play any
00:18:36state. don't you think that if your party also comes out, i don't want
00:18:40to say part because you're in government, you're not really a politician, but
00:18:43say are you a politician prof, or you're not a politic, i'm a product
00:18:47of a political process, exactly, so if don't you think
00:18:51that if the government also comes out to say this is the receipt that we are also paying this
00:18:55as a party, not as government, because if
00:18:59parties are paying then the the party that is also fielding
00:19:03candidates which is in the incumbant should also make that payment as well, wouldn't you think
00:19:07that? to ds a bit of this narrative you talk about, so
00:19:10i don't think with this, yes, i don't think that the
00:19:14issue that's the opposition is pointed out is that the
00:19:18APC or any other party is not paying, i think
00:19:22what they are talking about is the uh the high
00:19:25nature the amount of money that's placed in, so are you considering reviewing
00:19:29it? isn't that so much? i am, i am saying to you, if you check
00:19:33your research, you will find out that innu states and
00:19:37about the lowest across the southeast and in
00:19:41some some states even higher than
00:19:48looked at very, very carefully and said that price, so it's not
00:19:52all discouraging anybody, because it's quite disturbing when they say uh, because
00:19:55congratulations again, i saw the world bank report, the NDU that
00:19:58Inu and Lagos State, I think the only two states that can be able to fill uh
00:20:02sort out their recurrent expenditure via the
00:20:06IGR. so that's commendable from the state, however this issue of
00:20:10being nostal to the opposition is a great concern prof, just moment, let me
00:20:14bring in professor is the DGNdu governorship campaign
00:20:17council, he joins us virtually uh prof, welcome to the program, I don't how
00:20:21much time we have, uh, thank
00:20:25you, thank you for coming on the
00:20:28program, yes, I'm happy I have two professors, I'm privileged
00:20:32today, so talk to us, the the the the SSG said
00:20:35here that the accusation or the literal indictment put
00:20:39on the state government
00:20:41is is false because they are not fun, they are not
00:20:45the police that the fracker or the chaos that happened at the
00:20:48airport was... between NDC
00:20:52and airport officials and then the one that happened at the secretariat the
00:20:55NDC was amongst yourself, so
00:20:58how did the government come into all of
00:20:59this? i thank you
00:21:03because professor respect so well so
00:21:06much, of course you know that the
00:21:09SLG which I respect my senior brother is not the
00:21:13sposeman the f, we made payment to use
00:21:16that in line with international civil.
00:21:21aviation organization, standard
00:21:23and recommendation, the validity of a payment to use the
00:21:27airport last only one year, and what
00:21:31do have a non ticketed personality or
00:21:34persons who make payment to the airport,
00:21:37you need to notify them, is any point where
00:21:41they f, think that will be security
00:21:45bridge to the country that you not be able to use the airport, what
00:21:48the is for them to say okay, they use their own
00:21:52security and security would notify us to
00:21:56stop, what will
00:22:01i need to tell you what happened, we are there to receive
00:22:05our governorship as
00:22:07candidate, we have made payments as a non
00:22:11ticketed recipient, of course you should know the
00:22:14aeronautical fees and charges is
00:22:18source of income to the government. because we are dealing with government of
00:22:22taxation, of course we did that, all what we
00:22:26supposed to do have done them ready to do what to
00:22:29do, and as we approach the
00:22:32airport we saw against violation the own
00:22:36rules, they found rules, they found
00:22:39their own rules with sub policemen who came into the airport
00:22:43and also military person to stop us, what does that mean
00:22:47shows? it means that somebody saw was given information
00:22:50authority, we don't with that, okay fine, we
00:22:54need to leave the airports, we need to go to our own campaign
00:22:58office, i have to tell you what happened is
00:23:02quite and it is not good for democracy, we came
00:23:05out our principal boy citizen who doesn't
00:23:09want to have issues, i hate when people don't do the right
00:23:13thing and they started, we
00:23:17left the airport drove out the airport
00:23:21airport
00:23:21in asking was the the person we said okay let's
00:23:23go to
00:23:23our own place on coming out of airport
00:23:27what was so
00:23:31people there all vehicles which was stopped from
00:23:34entering to the airport the vehicles over 20
00:23:38to 30 v broken
00:23:40down but just moment because of
00:23:44time so you said you left the airport you were head because
00:23:48uh said the government had nothing to do this and a fan uh
00:23:51NDC issue and whatever happened at police issue and then
00:23:55whatever happened at the NDC was within you between yourself
00:23:59so when you say the government is involved one way or
00:24:03the other let's talk about what happened at that secretariat how was the government
00:24:06involved because i don't think
00:24:08i kind of caught what
00:24:09you said okay let tell what happened
00:24:13we came to the airporting
00:24:14what i did when we were in
00:24:16the airport in the secretariat to start our programs in line with a
00:24:20plan what happened that after before after the speech
00:24:24the g candidate we just have people shooting
00:24:28outside the compound sp shooting
00:24:31people
00:24:32start scing
00:24:33we were all scattered there to make
00:24:37factory vehicles where all people were
00:24:39there yes i think you made your
00:24:43point let me come back within the time we have just a limited time prof
00:24:46yeah you heard him i'm sure you heard what he said yes have denied that the
00:24:50government is not involved, yes, but he said they left the airport, they went
00:24:54to their secretariat, and even
00:24:56at the secretariat they did not have peace, because some people started, do you are
00:25:00you saying that it is members the NDC that started shooting at
00:25:04their their members, because that's what they are saying, they have been shooting themselves,
00:25:08so what I'm saying is that the matter is under investigation
00:25:12by Navian police force, there were no state officials
00:25:16branded as in state officials that were involved. in
00:25:20the frackers that occurred there, just like there were no inugu
00:25:24state actors sitting at the airport, pushing back
00:25:28at the membership of NDC, whatever happened is
00:25:31between NDC and the f authorities,
00:25:35whatever happened in the at the secretariat is matter that is under
00:25:39investigation now, so it will be a bit
00:25:42premature for people to uh assume a
00:25:46conclusion when a matter is currently being investigated. by the
00:25:50police, I can't associate with a
00:25:53conclusion that is not an evidence-based, so we're going to
00:25:57find out what the police investigation is all about, but what we are
00:26:01concerned about is that... we see this again as a false
00:26:04narrative trying to create an impression so that they people can
00:26:08perpetrate an activity that wondermine the peace and
00:26:12security augu state all right let's go to one minute
00:26:15gentlemen so why would you say
00:26:18that any good state for instant the government is giving you level playing
00:26:22field uh to
00:26:23you know campaign and and uh do your politics in one
00:26:27minute how how do you think that we had at the
00:26:31world people were short? you sayid giving
00:26:34playground to campaign,
00:26:38how do
00:26:38you think that when our secretary to do a frag off
00:26:42we all had and lot of people set in the
00:26:46hospitals? how do you say that? mean i become so worried
00:26:50if we cannot really say that
00:26:52we are. all right, so let's come
00:26:56to prof your last thought on this, so dr. they have
00:27:00maintained their position. very clear,
00:27:03we welcome free
00:27:06association, we welcome free engagement, we welcome
00:27:10issues based campaigning, all this comments that
00:27:14seem to distract from the kiss issues, which is candidates should be
00:27:18free to present their view about how they want to rule
00:27:21any state differently, and his excellency Dr. Peter is
00:27:25very clear when the time comes, we engage issues, so the and
00:27:29a single incident does not equate. to a general comment that
00:27:33anyway is not given a plane field in 10 seconds if
00:27:37any the man who has always been the eye the son is
00:27:41coming to your state just like um governor alias
00:27:44government or the government of a those state asks
00:27:48for adotsy he needs to inform them does he need to does any
00:27:51candidate need to inform your governor that is coming to the state i
00:27:55think uh mrp has been
00:27:58coming uh and he has a
00:28:02very good understanding of how enus process, we
00:28:06he's not had any issues augu state prof, thank you
00:28:10for coming on the program, well the early day still early days, the elections are still
00:28:14far away, we want peace across but
00:28:18the SSJ uh secretary to state government of thank you so for
00:28:21coming also professor is the
00:28:24DGNDU governorship campaign council, prof, thank you as well for
00:28:28coming on the program, thank you very much
00:28:33All right, and that's it on the program, thank you so much for your time and company, I'm
00:28:37Jeffrey Ozonga,
00:28:37bye-bye.
