00:00:0217 people died as a result of a Russian strike on Ukraine.
00:00:05The military claims they could not shoot down a single missile. Kyiv speaks of
00:00:09a lack of air defense and asks allies for help. This is a live
00:00:12broadcast channel, Current Time. Here's what else we'll tell you about
00:00:15today.
00:00:18After the strikes on Russia, the oil refinery in Kad Wilders is burning again. We'll tell you about
00:00:22the consequences of such attacks for the environment: chemicals
00:00:25enter the air and water bodies. In Yekaterinburg, the car of the head of the plant that
00:00:28makes... drones was blown up. On the same day, Vladimir Putin
00:00:32announced reshuffles in the sphere of unmanned
00:00:34systems. In Volyn, Polish and Ukrainian specialists
00:00:38discovered the remains of more than fifty victims of massacres during World
00:00:41War II. We'll tell you how modern excavations affect
00:00:45relations between Kyiv and
00:00:46Warsaw.
00:00:50Tonight, Russia launched 24 ballistic missiles at Ukraine.
00:00:54The targets of the strikes were warehouses and logistics
00:00:57centers. During the attack, 17 people died. Boris Sachalka is with us live from Kyiv.
00:01:01Borya, hello, tell us
00:01:05about the strikes and their
00:01:06consequences.
00:01:10Hello Igor, the attack on the Kyiv region began around 1 AM,
00:01:13and lasted for an hour and a half. The Russian army did not use
00:01:17cruise missiles, only ballistic ones. Here's how
00:01:20residents of the region
00:01:22describe this night.
00:01:26Unclenched, the desire to hide not just in some basement.
00:01:30but to leave Kyiv as soon as
00:01:33possible, so that this horror, nightmare
00:01:36would end, because it's impossible neither
00:01:38to sleep, nor to work. The night was
00:01:42so scary, difficult, but you can't
00:01:46read it scary, because these are people, and we
00:01:50are already getting used to waking up with the thought that today we were
00:01:53lucky, and that's very scary, we haven't slept
00:01:57for 5 years now, we have no dream, nothing... people have
00:02:00fear, constant fear, constant fear, we just live
00:02:04for today, and that's it.
00:02:08The main targets of the attack were warehouses
00:02:11and logistics centers. This video appeared in the morning, this is a
00:02:15railway platform, Unusentilamy, these are employees of
00:02:18one of the warehouses who were waiting for a train at the time of the attack. A total of
00:02:22eight people died on the platform. The destruction of the
00:02:24warehouse was reported by several large
00:02:28Ukrainian companies.
00:03:00and unfortunately, it will never work again. On the other hand, not a single person was injured
00:03:04during this attack, all people were in shelters,
00:03:07yes, we suffered very heavy losses, these are billions
00:03:10of hryvnias, on the other hand, Rozetka has long been
00:03:13a marketplace, we give tens of thousands of
00:03:17entrepreneurs the opportunity to work on our platform.
00:03:20Military analysts state that it was obvious that
00:03:23Russia would strike
00:03:26at these centers, and the main goal of such attacks is the
00:03:30largest taxpayers of the country.
00:03:34the absence of active advances from absolutely both sides, so
00:03:38a big war of targets began. precisely because
00:03:41we set certain trends regarding
00:03:44strikes on various enterprises on the
00:03:48territory of Russia, those enterprises that actually finance
00:03:51terrorist acts against Ukraine, and
00:03:55the Russians in this regard...
00:03:58are trying to raise the stakes as much as possible in order to
00:04:01undermine our economy, and we have largely
00:04:04seized the initiative, and that is true, but here we are now
00:04:07playing on the story of whose
00:04:10economy will be stronger,
00:04:13The Prime Minister of Ukraine urgently organizes
00:04:17meetings with business representatives to understand how logistics centers
00:04:21will work in the future. Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Beskresnov stated
00:04:24that such strikes will continue, because Russia
00:04:28manufactures about 100 ballistic missiles per month, and the Ukrainian
00:04:31president wrote that deliveries of air defense missiles to Ukraine
00:04:35to combat ballistic missiles have decreased threefold compared to last year,
00:04:38precisely such missiles could have saved people's lives
00:04:42today, Zelensky wrote.
00:04:45It is very important that partners realize that delays in their
00:04:49supply or unwillingness to transfer anti-ballistic missiles leads to
00:04:52such terrible casualties and destruction, partners
00:04:55who are not ready to help more actively.
00:04:59According to the Ukrainian Air Force,
00:05:12not a single ballistic missile was shot down today.
00:05:16Igor. Thank you. Our correspondent Boris
00:05:19Sachalka was live from Kyiv.
00:05:22Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine's
00:05:25allies have the necessary interceptor missiles, but
00:05:29political decisions are needed to transfer them to Kyiv. At the same
00:05:32time, specific promises to urgently strengthen Ukrainian air defense
00:05:36were not made today. Whose support does Kyiv primarily
00:05:40count on? We will ask our European correspondent Zoryana
00:05:43Stepanenko, who is also joining us live from Brussels.
00:05:46Zoryana, hello, how is the European capital reacting to today's
00:05:50strike?
00:05:51Hello, Igor. European politicians
00:05:55condemn another shelling of Kyiv. The Head of the Latvian MFA is currently
00:05:58on a visit there. Baiba Braže spent the night in a bomb shelter. She
00:06:02said that Russians can destroy buildings, but they cannot
00:06:06destroy Ukraine and its spirit. The Head of the Italian MFA expressed condolences to the
00:06:09relatives of the deceased. He recalled that strikes on civilian
00:06:12infrastructure violate international law. Andriy Sebyho,
00:06:16commenting on tonight in Kyiv, said that Russian strikes have no
00:06:20holidays, so pauses in support for Ukraine from partners
00:06:24are unacceptable. Obviously, this is a reference to the dead political season in
00:06:27the European Union, in particular.
00:06:30Every interceptor missile matters, these are tools that
00:06:33save lives. And I once again call on all partners
00:06:37to accelerate the adoption of all relevant decisions.
00:06:41Volodymyr Zelensky insists that
00:06:45partners have missiles and is waiting for political decisions regarding supplies and
00:06:49production. The most effective countermeasure against ballistic missiles are
00:06:53Patriot interceptors. The Ukrainian president, American media
00:06:56reported last week, asked the US president for hundreds of such missiles
00:07:00before winter. The Financial Times found that Donald Trump refused
00:07:04Zelensky. According to sources from the publication, the US president
00:07:07cited a shortage of interceptors and said that they are needed
00:07:11in the Middle East. At the same time, Trump publicly said: "The US
00:07:15has more ammunition than anyone else in the world, and much more than is needed."
00:07:18The American television channel CNN, citing sources, reported yesterday that
00:07:22about half of the Patriot interceptors have been used up. The level of
00:07:25stockpiles in military warehouses, which the media does not disclose, is described as dangerously
00:07:29low. Pentagon chief Pete Hexett rejects
00:07:33this assessment. This banner is not true, CNN,
00:07:36shame on you, we do not hate fake media enough.
00:07:40Our sources in NATO could not
00:07:44confirm or deny CNN's report, saying such discussions within the
00:07:48alliance are highly classified. Similar information, but slightly different
00:07:52figures, were also published by the Reuters agency. Kyiv wanted
00:07:55to borrow Patriot missiles from other allies and pay for them with missiles from
00:07:58future deliveries. The Ukrainian leadership does not name specific
00:08:02countries, but in Europe, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Greece,
00:08:06Poland, and Romania are armed with Patriots. I wrote
00:08:09to all capitals today, asking if they would allocate their
00:08:12interceptors to Ukraine after it failed to shoot down a single missile. Only Berlin
00:08:15replied, but there is no real answer. We
00:08:19are forced to decline to comment on specific issues concerning military
00:08:23support for Ukraine. This confidentiality policy
00:08:26is aimed at ensuring military operational
00:08:30security, as well as preventing conclusions about
00:08:33the capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces.
00:08:36How are negotiations with
00:08:38partners progressing? Will Ukraine receive them in the near future? Igor, thank you, our correspondent Zoryana
00:08:48Stepanenko was live from Brussels, who spoke about the European Union's reaction
00:08:52to today's strike on Ukraine.
00:08:55Vladimir Putin announced
00:08:56Украине.
00:09:00reshuffles in the Russian army. Against the backdrop of Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on Russian
00:09:03supply routes, a new deputy will appear in the Ministry
00:09:07of Defense who will be responsible for logistics.
00:09:10at the suggestion of the Minister of Defense,
00:09:14a decision was made to consolidate
00:09:18all rear services in one pair of hands. I want to emphasize
00:09:21that in modern conditions, this is also
00:09:25a combat, quite a combat job,
00:09:28and for the position in this
00:09:31direction, I have made such a decision,
00:09:34Solachuk, Valery,
00:09:36has been appointed.
00:09:38Nikolayevich, please.
00:09:42In addition, the Russian President appointed
00:09:44new commanders
00:09:47of the East and Center troop groups. They are participating
00:09:50in the invasion of Ukraine and are conducting combat operations, particularly in
00:09:54the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. Putin also
00:09:57appointed a new commander of the unmanned
00:10:01systems forces. This branch of the military was created a year and a half ago,
00:10:04although Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that its formation
00:10:08is complete. Today, Putin again expressed
00:10:11hope that the new commander would bring this work
00:10:15to completion. In Yekaterinburg, a car
00:10:19carrying the General Director of Ural Wagon Za
00:10:22Ural-drone-wagon Ural-Drone-plant, I apologize,
00:10:25Vladimir Tkachuk, was blown up. This was reported by the state news
00:10:28agency TASS, citing a source in the operational services, as well
00:10:32as Telegram channels close to Russian security
00:10:36forces. According to Kommersant newspaper, Tkachuk
00:10:39received severe injuries, and his driver died.
00:10:42Ural-Drone-plant produces Upyr drones for
00:10:45the Russian army, which are used in the war against
00:10:48Ukraine. It also became known today that
00:10:52Daniil Perediy, the son-in-law of the Commander-in-Chief
00:10:56of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Alexander Chayko,
00:10:59probably died in the explosion near the Moscow
00:11:02restaurant Baltsey Rossi. The Agency publication
00:11:05studied records from the state register
00:11:08of entrepreneurs, which states the termination
00:11:11of activities due to death. Earlier, Verstka
00:11:14reported that among the injured was Alexander
00:11:17Chayko's daughter. According to a source close to the
00:11:21restaurant's management, she suffered an open traumatic brain injury.
00:11:25The explosion near the Blatsia Rossiya happened on August
00:11:281st: five people died, and 19 more
00:11:32were injured. A homemade explosive device, which a courier
00:11:36was trying to carry in, detonated at the entrance to the restaurant.
00:11:39A security guard stopped her, after which the bomb was detonated
00:11:43remotely. Russian authorities are investigating the incident as
00:11:46a terrorist act. Media suggest that the target of the
00:11:50attack was General Chayko. However, the
00:11:53authorities did not officially report
00:11:57who exactly died or was injured.
00:12:00The Russian Ministry of Defense claims
00:12:03that air defense forces shot down 475 Ukrainian
00:12:07drones overnight. There is no independent confirmation
00:12:10of these figures. After the attacks, fires broke out at an oil refinery
00:12:14in Ufa (the Wildberries logistics center in the Tula region) and
00:12:18one of the facilities in Tatarstan. Residential
00:12:21buildings and industrial enterprises were also damaged.
00:13:04This is the fourth attack on the Bashneft enterprise in the
00:13:07last month and a half. Local residents complain about
00:13:10air quality, but the authorities deny this. I see
00:13:14information stuffing that due to this, the air in Ufa
00:13:17is allegedly poisoned. There is no cause for concern. Mobile
00:13:21laboratories control the environmental situation.
00:13:25Tula was attacked by Ukrainian drones today.
00:13:28I have never seen such a fire in my life.
00:13:31In the Tula region, after an attack by Ukrainian drones, the
00:13:35Wildberries logistics center caught fire. According to the governor,
00:13:38residential buildings and two industrial enterprises
00:13:42were also damaged. One person
00:13:44was injured. They stated that employees
00:13:47were evacuated in advance, and firefighters are working at the scene. The
00:13:51scene is currently a warehouse.
00:13:56plastic
00:13:59stinks throughout the district, local
00:14:02entrepreneurs complain that it is impossible to retrieve their goods
00:14:05from the warehouses,
00:14:07you watch your goods burning, something new burns
00:14:11every day, it burns, burns, burns, and it's impossible to take these
00:14:15goods out, there are no compensations, I understand
00:14:19that there simply won't be any.
00:14:22The authorities of Tatarstan reported
00:14:27a fire after a drone attack. According to their data,
00:14:31in the Zelenodolsk district, one of the facilities caught
00:14:34fire after debris fell. Large logistics centers, including Ozon and
00:14:38Wildberries warehouses, are located in this area. The authorities do
00:14:41not specify which particular
00:14:43building was damaged.
00:14:50Ukrainian authorities claim that Wildberries logistics centers are
00:14:53used to supply the Russian army with drone
00:14:56components and other equipment, and therefore consider them
00:15:00military targets. The Kremlin and the company's management deny
00:15:03this. According to Forbes, even before this attack, about
00:15:0720% of Wildberries' warehouse space
00:15:21that air defense forces shot down 10 drones heading towards
00:15:24the Russian capital. Kyiv explains the strikes on Russian
00:15:27territory by the desire to reduce Russia's military potential and its
00:15:30ability to continue the war. The Russian Ministry of Defense claims
00:15:34that air defense forces shot down 470 drones overnight.
00:16:07with people in the Ministry of Defense, I spoke with the President about the importance of working with
00:16:10Ukrainians, because it's impossible not to respect and admire what
00:16:14they are achieving. I don't think many believed that Ukraine would even
00:16:18survive, let alone move this war onto Russian territory
00:16:22and the Russian people, that is, for quite a long time, Russians had
00:16:25practically no inconveniences associated with this war. Now there are costs
00:16:29for the Russian economy and for Russians, and this happened because
00:16:33of what Ukrainians were able to achieve. The difference is that
00:16:36Ukrainians are not just killing...
00:17:11Strikes on oil refineries and logistics centers are increasingly leading not
00:17:15only to fires, but also to air, soil, and water pollution.
00:17:19The scale of the consequences is often impossible to quickly assess, because
00:17:22the Russian authorities do not disclose what substances
00:17:25were stored at the affected facilities. Andrey
00:17:29Shilov will tell us about the environmental consequences of the war. The river that
00:17:32flows after, is black.
00:17:36As local authorities confirmed, these
00:17:46are the consequences of a spill of chemical detergents from the Southern
00:17:50Gate warehouse due to the fall of Ukrainian drones shot down on July
00:17:5320. I dare not lower the camera at all,
00:17:57I'm afraid my phone will dissolve.
00:18:00On August 3, a state of emergency was declared in this
00:18:03Domodedovo district. The next day, an official reported
00:18:06that he had visited the contaminated site, that
00:18:10boom barriers were promptly installed, and that specialists
00:18:13were thinking about how to restore the water bodies. But
00:18:17neither officials nor specialists will say what exactly was spilled
00:18:21and what the real damage to nature is. Especially
00:18:24effective this year are the retaliatory strikes by Ukrainian drones on
00:18:28Russian oil infrastructure. That's one thing, but strikes on
00:18:31various warehouses are something else entirely. What's burning
00:18:35in Wildberries? They don't even know what?
00:18:37It burns so quickly, everything burns for them, I think no one really knows what it's
00:18:41made of, well, in general, that is,
00:18:44well, perhaps the closest thing to it is a burning
00:18:47landfill, only
00:18:49unfortunately, for some reason,
00:18:52they have much more
00:18:55combustible materials. The great war has been going on for five years now, but
00:18:59Russian authorities only started talking about its consequences for nature
00:19:03in 2026. The latest example is
00:19:06the strikes on energy facilities in Tuapse,
00:19:10which could potentially cause serious environmental consequences.
00:19:13The April environmental disaster in Tuapse, when the local
00:19:17oil refinery was ablaze, was literally too noticeable
00:19:20to remain silent. Smoke stretched for hundreds of kilometers, and
00:19:24the polluted sea and coastal strip affected the upcoming
00:19:28tourist season. If before, let's say,
00:19:31any consequences on the territory
00:19:33of Russia were weak, pale.
00:20:07Apparently, the authorities decided that they could also talk about
00:20:10this aloud, because here, at least, it won't be compared
00:20:14to what they did in Ukraine, you see? Many organizations
00:20:17involved in monitoring the environmental situation, from
00:20:20regional to global, are banned in Russia, and monitoring
00:20:24of the growing environmental problems from the Black Sea to
00:20:27the Gnilyusha River is largely carried out by people on social networks.
00:20:30The war is starting to be unpredictable in this sense. When strikes
00:20:34begin on such a wide variety of objects, which are
00:20:37themselves heterogeneous, then it's over,
00:20:41goodbye. That is, it's either necessary to have very good
00:20:44measuring instruments on the ground, which, of course, are not there,
00:20:48so, so to speak, based on
00:20:52the affected object, to say what flowed where and what to do about it, is very
00:20:55difficult. Thus, in the fog of war, another problem
00:20:59has emerged, and its real scale will not be able to be assessed
00:21:03anytime soon.
00:21:06The Russian Central Election Commission has determined the places on the ballot for the State
00:21:09Duma elections, they held a lottery. As a result, United
00:21:12Russia got the first number, Yabloko will be second, and New
00:21:16People last under number 11. The broadcast was conducted by the TV channel
00:21:20Russia, so even you didn't spin it,
00:21:23actually. Why did you decide not to spin
00:21:26the lototron? Because all the numbers that remained suit
00:21:30me. Well done, and
00:21:33moreover, I drew what we wanted, because the real choice in the elections is either United
00:21:37Russia or Yabloko, our number two.
00:21:40Oh, number two.
00:21:43Now we know that the citizens of our country have the opportunity
00:21:47to vote for peace and freedom, for people's lives. Two.
00:21:51The current election campaign is taking place against the backdrop of war and the absence
00:21:55of independent media and restrictions for the opposition. Despite
00:21:58the registration of the Yabloko federal list, the party has already
00:22:02encountered problems in the regions. In St. Petersburg, the election commission
00:22:05denied its registration for the list in the legislative assembly elections. In
00:22:08Karelia, the court canceled the registration of the party list.
00:22:12At least 10 party members became defendants in various criminal
00:22:15cases before the elections. At the airport
00:22:19of Leipzig, Germany, a drone with explosives
00:22:22was discovered next to a Ukrainian An-124 transport
00:22:24aircraft. The German prosecutor's office reported that sappers
00:22:28disarmed the explosive device on the runway
00:22:31with the help of a remotely controlled robot. Almost simultaneously,
00:22:35a second incident occurred. A DHL cargo plane
00:22:38aborted its landing, going around for a second attempt,
00:22:42and collided with an unidentified object. The aircraft was diverted
00:22:44to Hanover, where damage was discovered during inspection.
00:22:48German authorities are investigating both incidents as possible
00:22:52sabotage. The case is being handled by the counter-terrorism and
00:22:55extremism unit.
00:22:57In western Ukraine, Polish and
00:23:01Ukrainian specialists are searching for and exhuming the victims
00:23:04of massacres in Volyn during World War II.
00:23:08Researchers have discovered the remains of more than 50 people, but
00:23:11they assume that hundreds more victims may be located in this
00:23:15area. Joint work is taking place against
00:23:18the backdrop of growing tension. Archaeologists carefully
00:23:29extract
00:23:29human remains from the
00:23:37earth, then thoroughly clean them,
00:23:41then examine and describe them. This is how
00:23:44the joint Polish-Ukrainian mission to find the victims of the Volyn
00:23:48tragedy, one of the episodes. More
00:23:55than 80 years later, specialists are establishing
00:23:58the circumstances of the victims' deaths and their burials. Then they will try
00:24:02to establish their identities and find their relatives
00:24:05using DNA, whether they are military or civilian
00:24:08residents, and establish the time
00:24:12at which it was carried out after the death of these people.
00:24:15It was possible to note that the remains were in such
00:24:18a chaotic arrangement. Most of them were, let's say,
00:24:22brought to the burial pit and thrown in there,
00:24:25and most likely this was done some
00:24:29time after death, let's say, from 12 to 36
00:24:33hours. According to the Polish Institute of National Remembrance, before
00:24:36World War II, approximately 660 people lived
00:24:39in the village of Ostrivky, mostly Poles. Most
00:24:43of them died in August 1943.
00:24:46At the site of this temporary... here, we still lack almost
00:25:20300 people, and we, of course, will continue our
00:25:23search. We want to restore their names
00:25:27and surnames to them, we want to fulfill the duty that lies on us, as the
00:25:31heirs of those who were killed here. This summer,
00:25:34excavations are taking place against the backdrop of growing tension in
00:25:38Ukrainian-Polish relations. Kyiv believes that some Polish
00:25:41politicians are using historical memory of the Volyn tragedy as
00:25:45a tool in political struggle. Because of this,
00:25:48not only official contacts between countries are deteriorating, but also
00:25:51the attitude of Poles towards Ukrainians at the everyday level. Therefore,
00:25:55joint search efforts and mutual assistance during their
00:25:59conduct can become... Such work needs to be continued,
00:26:04and what is important, I would like to see a certain symmetry
00:26:08in this kind of work as well, so that work can also take place
00:26:11on Polish territory. I would very much like search work,
00:26:15including exhumations, to take place on the territory of modern
00:26:19eastern Poland. Equal treatment of victims, regardless of their nationality, is precisely
00:26:23what can and should defuse this difficult
00:26:27atmosphere, which is unfortunately being exploited.
00:26:30Different views on the Volyn tragedy
00:26:33have complicated relations between Warsaw and Kyiv for many years. In Poland,
00:26:37it was called the Volyn massacre and genocide. In Ukraine,
00:26:40it was emphasized that both sides were to blame. Earlier, Volodymyr
00:26:43Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian side intends to open all
00:26:47archives of special services concerning the tragic events in
00:26:50Volyn. According to the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory,
00:26:53the names of approximately 30 thousand Poles
00:26:57and about 1000 Ukrainians
00:27:01have currently been established.
00:27:32Thanks to this, the burden on our resources will decrease, and
00:27:36the Czech healthcare and social security systems will be
00:27:39relieved.
00:27:42The new rules apply only to those who apply for this status
00:27:45for the first time. Ukrainians who already have temporary protection in the Czech Republic
00:27:49will not be affected by the changes. Prague took such measures, the first in
00:27:53the European Union. Currently, almost 400 thousand Ukrainian
00:27:56citizens are in the country. According to the Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs,
00:28:00for the first time since the beginning of the war, they will demand
00:28:03documents from
00:28:12men regarding the fulfillment of military
00:28:15duty. Currently, more than 4 million
00:28:18Ukrainians benefit from this status in
00:29:36No measures of coercion, neither physical nor moral
00:29:39order, should be applied to protected persons,
00:29:43in particular, for the purpose of obtaining information from them or from third parties.
00:30:20The citizens of our country have the opportunity to vote for peace and freedom, for people's
00:30:24lives. 10 parties are for war, one
00:30:28is against. The Central Election Commission drew lots for the serial
00:30:31numbers. The real choice in the elections is either United
00:30:35Russia or Yabloko, our number two. Yabloko, by the way,
00:30:38was admitted to the vote, you can vote for it. I urge
00:30:42you to become independent observers, to watch so that there are no
00:30:46falsifications, to vote for
00:30:49the Yabloko party. Who and how supports
