00:01:28Namaste, welcome to this special country? We will discuss this. program in which we will talk about PM
00:01:31Modi's visit to Tamil Nadu, which is considered very important for the development
00:01:35of connectivity and the goal of self-reliant India. Prime Minister Modi has
00:01:39gifted development projects worth more than 13 thousand crore
00:01:43rupees in Chennai.
00:01:45budget was separate and These projects are related to various sectors including Metro Rail,
00:01:48Highways, Railways, Ports, Petroleum and Education. The biggest
00:01:53a break. Stay with DD News. thing is that he called the development of the country from the development of the
00:01:55state as the priority of his government, the mantra of his government. PM Modi
00:01:59said how big this message is and how the future
00:02:04the most environment-friendly and will be built with modern infrastructure. We will discuss this today. I am Ramatyagi, two special
00:02:21guests will join me. During his Chennai visit, Prime Minister Modi has given a big gift
00:02:24of development projects. He has launched and laid the foundation stone of development
00:02:27projects worth more than 13 thousand crores and also called the development
00:02:31of Tamil Nadu as the priority of his government. Now we
00:02:41Tamil Nadu, urban
00:02:44development is our big
00:02:46priority. If transportation is good, it
00:02:50increases the ease of living of people. In
00:02:54a decade, we have done a very big expansion of the metro
00:02:57network across the country. In
00:03:012014, metro was running in only
00:03:05five cities of the country. Today,
00:03:09metro services are
00:03:12operating in 25 cities
00:03:16of the
00:03:17than any station in the country.
00:03:23The Poonamallee-Vadapalani section of the second phase of the Chennai
00:03:26Metro Rail project is going to become a convenient medium to reduce
00:03:30the daily travel time of passengers. PM Modi, during his
00:03:33Tamil Nadu visit, laid the foundation stone of various development projects
00:03:37worth more than 13 thousand crore rupees and also inaugurated
00:03:41and dedicated them to the nation. These projects are related
00:03:44to various sectors including Metro Rail, Highways,
00:03:47Railways, Ports, Petroleum and Education. The foundation stone and inauguration
00:03:50of the projects today will be very important
00:03:54for the progress of Tamil Nadu. Today, in the country,
00:03:57port infrastructure
00:04:31will be there, then the world's ultra-large
00:04:34container vessels will also be able to reach
00:04:37here easily. This will help Tamil Nadu
00:04:40become a global hub of industry and transport.
00:04:44Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Sudha Gopalakrishna
00:04:48Brain Centre at IIT Madras to the nation. He launched
00:04:51the unique global scientific mission of this center. Its objective
00:04:55is to prepare a three-dimensional cellular level map of 100
00:04:58human brains in various stages of human life from the
00:05:02embryonic stage to old age. PM Modi said that
00:05:06the central government is fully committed to helping
00:05:09in the development of Tamil Nadu. We want to create
00:05:13a Tamil Nadu that continuously
00:05:17reaches new heights, and for
00:05:19this, whatever help is needed from
00:05:23the center, we are fully committed
00:05:26to stand with you.
00:05:29We will jointly
00:05:33realize the resolve of a developed India
00:05:36from a developed Tamil Nadu. PM Modi said that
00:05:40as the head of the government, he has completed 25 years.
00:05:43Before becoming Prime Minister, he had taken oath as the
00:05:47Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001. He said that
00:05:50India's progress is strengthened by its rich cultural
00:05:53heritage, scientific achievements and modern
00:05:56infrastructure. Prime
00:06:00Minister Narendra Modi has tried to reduce the distance between
00:06:03North and South India. This is the reason why
00:06:07the development that happens in the states with double engine
00:06:10government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also starts the same
00:06:14kind of development in those states where there is no BJP government.
00:06:18The goal is the same that if India is to be developed
00:06:21by 2047, then it is necessary that the states
00:06:25also walk hand in hand. Neeraj Singh, DD News, Chennai,
00:06:29with his colleagues Ankit, Nishant Rai and Vimlesh. So what are the implications
00:06:32of the Prime Minister's visit
00:06:35for Tamil Nadu and for the
00:06:38Two special guests are with us. Anil Kumar Khandelwal ji is with
00:06:42us, former member of Infrastructure Railway Board and
00:06:45Professor Ashwini Mahajan is with us, economic expert.
00:06:49We welcome both the guests. First of all, Professor Mahajan,
00:06:53we would like to come to you. The Prime Minister has given a gift
00:06:57of projects worth more than 13 thousand crores. He has given
00:07:00a very big message that how the development
00:07:04of the states will contribute to the development of the
00:07:07country and will fulfill the goal of becoming a self-reliant
00:07:11developed India by 2047. How big and what kind of a
00:07:14signal does this give that for the center,
00:07:18for Prime Minister Modi, the development of all
00:07:21states is important, without any discrimination?
00:07:24See, the first thing is that the
00:07:28country has to develop and Tamil Nadu is a
00:07:31very industrialized state, a state
00:07:35with high per capita income and the expectations
00:07:39of the people there are also similar. For that,
00:07:43civic amenities like metro are needed. Along with this, we
00:07:47also have to understand that being an industrial state,
00:07:51there are innumerable possibilities of export
00:07:54from there and for promoting that export,
00:07:58vessels with large containers should be able to
00:08:02come there and for this, the construction of ports is very
00:08:05important. This government has given important
00:08:09attention to infrastructure. Where in previous
00:08:13governments only about one or two lakh crore
00:08:16rupees were spent on infrastructure, today almost 12 lakh crore
00:08:20rupees are being spent in a year. So this
00:08:23is a big achievement, whether it is ports,
00:08:27rail, road or metro. Today we
00:08:31are seeing such a big expansion of metro as
00:08:34the Prime Minister said that metro was running
00:08:37in only five states, today it is running in 25
00:08:41states and almost 1100 kilometers of metro has been
00:08:45established till now. These are signs that are
00:08:49telling that in the future, we are moving
00:08:51towards a developed nation. What is the difference
00:08:55between America and India? And we are seeing that
00:08:58the metros of America or other countries have become old,
00:09:02they have not been improved, and in our country,
00:09:05new and new metros are being built, and citizens are also
00:09:09getting facilities. So on one hand, facilities for citizens
00:09:13and on the other hand, to promote global connectivity
00:09:17for industrial development, all these efforts
00:09:20that are being made, in that, the projects
00:09:24that have been dedicated to the nation
00:09:27today will have a very far-reaching
00:09:31impact, I think. Exactly.
00:09:34Khandelwal ji is also with us. Sir, we would like to understand
00:09:37from you, as we talk about roads, we talk about
00:09:41railways, we talk about various connectivity-related projects,
00:09:45the Prime Minister clearly stated that Tamil Nadu has to be made
00:09:48a hub of transportation and industry, for which this is
00:09:52very important. How comprehensive and far-reaching an impact do
00:09:55you see of this? Namaste ji, as
00:09:59the Prime Minister said, the infrastructure
00:10:02that develops is not just a transport system,
00:10:06it does not just provide transportation facilities,
00:10:10but it also gives a big thrust to the economic
00:10:13development of that place. The economic and social development
00:10:17there happens very rapidly. The
00:10:21metro rail is very
00:10:24important for urban transport. Just as
00:10:29lifeline for the country, similarly, metro rail is
00:10:32the lifeline for urban infrastructure, urban transport.
00:10:35And this gives a great thrust
00:10:38and boost
00:10:42to the
00:10:44economic development of that area. Metro in India started
00:10:48being built first, the first metro was on October
00:10:5224, 1984. Today
00:11:25it is the third largest metro network in India
00:11:28and will soon become the second. And
00:11:31regarding quality, as our colleague mentioned,
00:11:35I had recently visited Germany and our metro
00:11:38infrastructure seemed much better than theirs when
00:11:42we compared it. So modern infrastructure is
00:11:46developing very rapidly. And
00:11:49currently, work is underway on almost
00:11:511000 kilometers in 29 cities.
00:11:55So we are going to become the world's
00:11:59second largest metro network very soon and
00:12:02this will accelerate the development here and
00:12:06will play a strong role in laying the
00:12:09foundation stone of our developed India by 2047.
00:12:25Santosh, be a little careful. Sir, be a little careful.
00:12:29The bank never asks for OTP, PIN or your personal
00:12:32information. This is fraud. RBI says if
00:12:36you get a call or message for OTP or PIN, be a little
00:12:39careful. When
00:12:43the earth is torn open and iron stone comes
00:12:46out and meets with Mongia's enthusiasm,
00:12:50then it heats up, melts
00:12:53and becomes steel. Now it becomes rebar with
00:12:57Mongia
00:12:59Steel, strong country's
00:13:01strong
00:13:08rebar. Welcome back after the break. Two special guests are with us.
00:13:11Professor Mahajan, as you were telling that the quality
00:13:15is also of global standard and when the whole world
00:13:19is struggling with challenges, India is presenting a solution.
00:13:22Prime Minister Modi also said in one of his speeches today
00:13:25that all the countries of the world now look
00:13:29towards India for solutions. So how big a change
00:13:33is this and how important is its role in this change,
00:13:36as we are constantly talking about infrastructure? If we talk
00:13:40about today, how much will it affect the economy of Tamil
00:13:43Nadu and how much will it help in boosting the economy
00:13:47of the whole country? As I said earlier
00:13:50that Tamil Nadu is such an industrial
00:13:53province where there are huge export possibilities.
00:13:57Already a lot of export is happening and
00:14:00we are seeing that there are many districts there
00:14:04like Tirupur and other districts from where
00:14:07a large amount of export also happens and
00:14:10in many cases Tamil Nadu,
00:14:14whether it is in the field of small MSMEs
00:14:17or other fields, is continuously making progress.
00:14:20I would like to say one more thing here
00:14:24that the way we are implementing large scale
00:14:27infrastructure projects, our companies and mostly
00:14:30our companies are doing it. We usually
00:14:33avoid Chinese companies and companies of other
00:14:37countries are not so capable of building infrastructure
00:14:40in our country. So in such a situation,
00:14:43our companies, whether it is L&T or many other
00:14:47companies, are building infrastructure all over the world
00:14:50and sometimes some opposition parties say
00:14:54that they have given too much importance to a particular company,
00:14:58but the same companies
00:15:01are building infrastructure on a large scale all
00:15:04over the world and are also pushing China out
00:15:08of it, because today's situation is that all
00:15:12the ports that are being built are being built by
00:15:15our own companies all over the world and China is being
00:15:19pushed out of its tendering.
00:15:23So our point is that we are
00:15:26achieving a big
00:15:29milestone in the field of infrastructure and our companies
00:15:33and our government's PV companies are also doing
00:15:37great work at this level. So whether it is
00:15:40ports, railways, roads, today we have such a large
00:15:44road network and in Tamil Nadu, roads are already
00:15:48very good, and when more roads are being constructed
00:15:52there, we can see its effect that for a
00:15:55developed nation, a developed state is necessary, and
00:15:59it is very important for us to showcase
00:16:02the already developed states. That is why it has
00:16:06also been seen that whether it is a government ruled
00:16:10by any party, despite that,
00:16:12seeing everyone with the same eye and trying
00:16:16to develop equally everywhere, this is also a big
00:16:20quality of the central government. Exactly, it is very important
00:16:24that every state participates in the race for development
00:16:29the development of individuals. Khandelwal ji, we would like
00:16:33to understand from you, as you gave a figure
00:16:36earlier, earlier, projects used to be delayed many
00:16:40times, promises were not fulfilled many times or they
00:16:43used to hang for many days. Now, as
00:16:47we talk about railways, all new projects, all
00:16:51modern infrastructure and the level of quality
00:16:54we are maintaining at a global level, what
00:16:58big vision is behind this and what kind
00:17:01of government policy has given speed and strength
00:17:04to these schemes? For the economic development
00:17:08of any country, its infrastructure, its logistic
00:17:12arrangement must be strong. This government has given
00:17:15special attention to this. Especially if we talk about
00:17:19railways, earlier the railway
00:17:23the capex that we could spend on projects
00:17:26for infrastructure was around this much. After the budget
00:17:30was merged in 2017, this capex kept
00:17:32increasing and today it has reached 3 lakh
00:17:36crore for railways. And railway is considered
00:17:42economic mode of transport, because the carbon
00:17:45dioxide emission in it is 1/9, roughly
00:17:4911 grams per ton kilometer compared to
00:17:53101 grams per ton kilometer in road transportation.
00:17:56Similarly, the transportation cost, its cost of
00:18:00transportation is also less than half. So
00:18:04thrust has been given to railway infra so that
00:18:08transport facilities can be provided and when logistic arrangements
00:18:11are good, industrial development will happen, economic development
00:18:15will happen. The logistic cost of India is roughly
00:18:1814% right now. Compared to developed
00:18:22countries, it is very high, it should be in single
00:18:26digit, work is being done in that direction and
00:18:29now end-to-end infrastructure is being
00:18:32developed so that a link can be created from where
00:18:36production happens or where raw material is produced
00:18:40and where the final product is made. Transport corridors
00:18:44have been built for that and the main
00:18:47corridors of railways which are almost 11
00:18:50thousand kilometers, all of them are being
00:18:53made four-lane and six-lane. Just like the
00:18:57Golden Quadrilateral of roads was built,
00:19:00now the Golden Quadrilateral of railways is
00:19:03being strengthened, because in this Golden Quadrilateral,
00:19:07which is almost 16% of the entire network,
00:19:10more than 40-42% of matter is transported,
00:19:14men and material. So this is being strengthened
00:19:17and when infrastructure is strong, economic
00:19:21development will happen because the money spent on infrastructure
00:19:25reflects in the economy as a multiplier
00:19:28in six to eight or ten years. So
00:19:31when we look at India becoming the third and
00:19:34fourth superpower, a developed India, infrastructure
00:19:38development has special importance in it and India
00:19:41is working in that direction. We are spending
00:19:44almost 12 lakh crore which used
00:19:48to be one or two lakh crore as mentioned
00:19:51and this will definitely make us
00:19:54the third superpower and
00:19:57a big economic power in the world.
00:20:00We also have Ashwini Mahajan ji. Professor
00:20:04Mahajan, we would like to ask you, as Khandelwal
00:20:07ji talked about logistic cost, how important
00:20:11is it for it to be low and how much
00:20:14will today's projects reduce it? If it
00:20:18reduces, how much strength
00:20:21will it give to India's manufacturing capability and
00:20:24global competitiveness? See, in
00:20:28developed countries around the world, logistic
00:20:31cost remains up to 5-6%. Earlier,
00:20:34it was up to 14% here, but now it
00:20:38was 9% till last year and this year
00:20:41it has come down to 8%. And there
00:20:45are many things that contribute to this, in which
00:20:48infrastructure plays a very
00:21:20important role. And in terms of competition, when you
00:21:23talked about it, when our logistic
00:21:27cost will be 14% or 8%, you can
00:21:30understand that if we have come down from
00:21:3414% to 8%, it means our competitive
00:21:37power has increased by 6%. Our goods
00:21:40are 6% cheaper, meaning we are in a
00:21:44position to sell cheaper than before, due to
00:21:48which our exports can increase. And this logistic cost
00:21:51is not only in the field of goods, our logistic
00:21:55cost also makes our other economic activities
00:21:59much better and if our competitive
00:22:02power increases in the country, then imports
00:22:06from abroad decrease. Not only do we increase
00:22:09exports, but we also create a power to
00:22:13reduce imports in our country. So overall,
00:22:16we are seeing that our infrastructure
00:22:20is improving both quantitatively and qualitatively, and
00:22:24our infrastructure, as mentioned earlier, is becoming
00:22:28better than global standards. And currently, only
00:22:31China is the only country where the railway line is
00:22:35more than ours, but even there, the railway
00:22:39line is not as useful as in our
00:22:43country. So, let's get a reaction from
00:22:47Khandelwal ji on this as well. Khandelwal ji,
00:22:50we would like to understand from you, as we are
00:22:53talking about all the infrastructure, especially railways,
00:22:57and connectivity, how much quality and simple
00:23:00facility have passengers got from this, and how
00:23:04much has this infrastructure increased employment opportunities?
00:23:07See, when the railway is
00:23:11working specially for the convenience of passengers,
00:23:15you saw Vande Bharat, which we have recently
00:23:18launched, the Vande
00:23:20Bharat Express, it competes
00:23:24world and the comfortable journey in it, perhaps
00:23:28many people have appreciated it after traveling in
00:23:31it. And the other two things are for
00:23:35the comfort of passengers, one is that the station
00:23:39should be improved and the other is that when we board the train,
00:23:42the rolling stock of the train should be good,
00:23:46clean and smooth running. So all the Indian
00:23:50Railways have currently launched the world's biggest infrastructure
00:23:53project at more than 1300 stations, in
00:23:56which roughly 600-700 stations have been completed
00:24:00and work is going on others. So these
00:24:04stations are not less world. Rani Kamlapati, and
00:24:08you must have seen that five stations have
00:24:11already been completed and Vande Bharat, around
00:24:15180 services are running. Along with this, how
00:24:19many employment opportunities have increased, all the
00:24:23small industries that have come up along with
00:24:26it? Exactly, whenever any project
00:24:30is sanctioned, economic development takes place in that
00:24:33area, employment opportunities increase. If we sanction
00:24:37any project, when work happens
00:24:40in that area, local people there get work,
00:24:43get employment, and that develops that area.
00:24:47If we look at the USBRL project,
00:24:50Jammu and Kashmir project, where we all know
00:24:53the situation earlier, and today when
00:24:56our train project has been commissioned,
00:25:00there is a day and night difference
00:25:02in the economic, social and employment
00:25:05situation compared to
00:25:07before. All the young people there have
00:25:10now done welding, carpentry and engineering
00:25:14work in different places. They did
00:25:17it in that project, learned from there,
00:25:20and now they are doing it elsewhere.
00:25:24Whenever a project is sanctioned, local
00:25:27employment increases, demand increases there, steel,
00:25:31material, raw material, lorry workers, everyone
00:25:35develops and the employment situation improves. Exactly,
00:25:39it is very important in itself. A small
00:25:41reaction from Professor Mahajan, we would also
00:25:45like to take from you, how important
00:25:49is the Prime Minister's visit today from the
00:25:52perspective of a common man, if we look
00:25:56at income, employment and improvement in living
00:26:00standards? See, today we are
00:26:03talking about infrastructure, and through infrastructure,
00:26:06not only direct employment is created, but
00:26:10also if speed increases, more comfortable
00:26:14journeys happen or our goods
00:26:18can be transported easily, then due
00:26:21to that, the multiplier effect that was talked
00:26:24about earlier, that multiplier effect comes, and
00:26:28infrastructure has the most multiplier effect
00:26:32because through it, not only direct
00:26:36employment is generated there, but indirectly
00:26:40industries are built there, different
00:26:42types of service institutions are established
00:26:46wherever rail reaches, wherever roads reach,
00:26:50wherever infrastructure is built, employment and
00:26:53you see that it's not just infrastructure.
00:26:57There's also optical fiber infrastructure.
00:27:01In the old days,
00:27:03it was said that civilizations settle around rivers.
00:27:08are settling around roads, railways, optical
00:27:12fibers, ports. So, in essence,
00:27:16more people are settling
00:28:39Thank you very much Professor Mahajan and Khandelwal ji
00:28:42for joining us and participating in this important
00:28:46discussion. With this, this special program
00:28:50ends for now. Please allow me to
00:28:53say Namaskar. Prime Minister Narendra
00:28:57Modi laid the foundation stone of development projects
00:29:00worth more than 13 thousand crore rupees in
00:29:04Chennai and also inaugurated and dedicated
00:29:08them to the nation. These projects are related
00:29:12to various sectors including Metro Rail, Highways, Railways, Ports, Petroleum
00:29:15and Education, which will
00:29:20make the lives of local residents easier. Prime Minister called the development of the country from the development of the state as his mantra. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the metro service. He traveled from Porur Bypass Station to Poonamallee Bypass Station and back in the Chennai Metro. During the journey, he interacted with AI, startups and fintech professionals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai. Jay Gopal Garodia Hindu School
00:29:24Matriculation Higher Secondary School's Golden Jubilee celebrations,
00:29:27the Prime Minister attended and inaugurated the school's innovation, AI School Lab
00:29:31and Atal Tinkering Lab. The Prime Minister said that today
00:29:35the world is looking for solutions and the youth of India have the ability
00:29:39to provide these solutions. The PM said that this is the time for the youth
00:29:42of India.
00:29:45India has strongly objected to the comments of the United Nations Human Rights High Commissioner's
00:29:49Office OHCHR regarding the incidents that took place in Delhi yesterday.
00:29:53The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement calling OHCHR's concerns
00:29:56inappropriate and unacceptable interference in India's internal
00:30:00affairs. India said that
