00:00:09all this means that this potential is not being used
00:00:12to its full extent. Here I also see some danger, because
00:00:16Ukraine needs access to Patriot
00:00:19technologies. President Trump announced that
00:00:23he was thinking about providing
00:00:26such access. Now he... in order
00:00:50not to show these individual projects as competitive, we could together, Poland with Ukraine, already
00:00:54at the stage
00:00:56of preparing an offer for...
00:01:00the Americans, that we could cooperate,
00:01:03a Polish, Polish-Ukrainian
00:01:06initiative, because otherwise it could end up with
00:01:10neither of our states coming out well
00:01:14of this and not having access. Mr. Professor,
00:01:17but nevertheless, the minister, the minister,
00:01:21Deputy Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czaniecka, she spoke about this
00:01:24when she returned
00:01:27from a visit overseas,
00:01:30that it should be Poland, Ukraine
00:01:33and, of course, the States, and that
00:01:37it was probably a good direction, but after that, we don't
00:01:40see any movement. I think that now the ball is in the court
00:01:44of the American administration, but we ourselves see that
00:01:48here it's yes, yes, no, maybe, maybe no,
00:01:51oh no, and then we return to that,
00:01:54yes, maybe no, maybe yes, maybe no. The minister
00:01:58announced, she said that she was ready, that Poland was ready to participate
00:02:02in the Patriot program, production, manufacturing, but I'm not
00:02:06convinced if this was discussed
00:02:09with Ukraine. It should be a joint initiative, not
00:02:13at the level of deputy ministers, but presidents or
00:02:16government, and it seems that
00:02:19there is no such thing, because the questions were already asked.
00:02:23You offered something, there was such
00:02:26a proposal, but is it clarified, is it?
00:02:30Formally clarified, it was Ukraine that
00:02:32had, they received
00:02:35such a promise from
00:02:38Trump that they would receive Patriots. It
00:02:41is Ukraine that uses
00:02:43these,
00:02:47these missiles. I think that
00:02:51Poland is still a
00:02:54peaceful country. This
00:02:57is such competitiveness
00:03:00between Poland and Ukraine, it does not serve,
00:03:03it does not give an advantage to either Poland or Ukraine. I return to your first
00:03:07question, that a year
00:03:08after the beginning
00:03:11of Korol Nawrodski's presidency, there is still no such
00:03:15cooperation, and these disputes that arose between our
00:03:19countries, they hinder the creation
00:03:22of such proposals between our states. I believe that we
00:03:25are losing a lot by not cooperating with
00:03:29Ukraine in... Ukraine's
00:03:31experience.
00:03:36What do other countries do? Well, we see that Russian
00:03:40missiles that fly into Polish territory through Ukraine
00:03:44are not shot down by either the Ukrainian side, or we don't have anything to shoot them down with, and
00:03:47Poland, being under the law of peacetime, also
00:03:51doesn't shoot them down yet. And here the question is, is the
00:03:54Polish leadership ready to consider the issue of at least partial closure,
00:03:58at least of the western regions of Ukraine, in order to still
00:04:01secure these logistics routes,
00:04:04border infrastructure from Russian
00:04:06attacks?
00:04:10I think that going beyond
00:04:13NATO territory is not politically acceptable,
00:04:16permissible, not even in Poland, but in NATO as a whole, therefore
00:04:20this would mean involving NATO in the war, in
00:04:24actions, military actions, which
00:04:27is happening, which will end.
00:06:12means of communication and insignia. On the occasion of the Air Force Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the mayor
00:06:16of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsinkiv, together with a team of volunteers, made
00:06:20another trip to the Ukrainian defenders. This time, assistance
00:06:23was delivered to Chernihiv and Sumy regions. Another volunteer
00:06:26trip, accordingly, we are bringing those
00:06:30requests from military units that
00:06:33came to the Ivano-Frankivsk city council. Accordingly,
00:06:37these are drones, these are generators
00:06:40and communication devices. The residents of Frankivsk celebrated Air Force Day
00:06:44together with the servicemen of the legendary 114th Tactical
00:06:47Aviation Brigade. Defenders were given Matrix
00:06:51quadcopters and Chuika drone detection systems. The rifle
00:06:55company of the brigade has been defending positions on ground lines for three years, so
00:06:58on behalf of the community, its fighters were awarded awards. I have the honor
00:07:02today, on behalf of our community of Frankivsk, and also
00:07:06all communities of Prykarpattia, as I am the head
00:07:09of the association, to congratulate you and thank you. Thank you
00:07:12for your service, thank you for your protection, thank you for
00:07:16the fact that Ivano-Frankivsk,
00:07:18Ivano-Frankivsk region has the opportunity
00:07:22to be a calm rear only thanks to you. We, the soldiers
00:07:25of the Air Force, continue to defend our
00:07:27homeland. To everyone, I want to wish
00:07:31good health, health to your
00:07:35families, strength and inspiration to all
00:07:38of us to endure in this struggle.
00:07:42The next stop was Konotop. The soldiers
00:07:45of the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, who are holding the defense in
00:07:48Sumy region, were given 500 FPV drones. It is these that today
00:07:52help Ukrainian defenders destroy enemy equipment and
00:07:55save lives on the front line. The next volunteer trip
00:07:58is ending. We are returning home,
00:08:02we are returning with the fact that the community provided another aid
00:08:05amounting to over 13 million
00:08:08hryvnias for our Armed Forces of Ukraine, this is...
00:08:13and this helps us accelerate victory and
00:08:17achieve peace. The city council emphasizes that the security of rear
00:08:21communities directly depends on the resilience of Ukrainian military personnel and defenders on
00:08:25the front line. That is why the Ivano-Frankivsk community will
00:08:28continue to systematically support the units of the defense forces with everything necessary.

00:14:06Hi, I'm a smart robot based on Arduino with a camera and
00:14:10Wi-Fi. Despite my toy-like appearance, I can do
00:14:13a lot. My task is to teach children and adults
00:14:16how to use more complex
00:14:18technology.
00:14:22We are robots, and like everything created by humans, we
00:14:25have gone through a long
00:14:26evolution.
00:14:29The first mentions of mechanical automatons in China are contained in
00:14:33the Taoist treatise Liezi,
00:14:364th-3rd century BC, which describes
00:14:39the story of the craftsman Yayan, who created a humanoid
00:14:43mechanism.
00:14:47However, if many things became simpler over time, we,
00:14:51on the contrary, became more complex. Today, people need
00:14:55more knowledge to effectively interact with robots,
00:14:58computers, and artificial
00:15:00intelligence.
00:15:05This is where I live, this is the Ukrainian Catholic
00:15:08University. This is where one of the strongest IT
00:15:11schools in Ukraine operates. July
00:15:145, 2024. Here, within the walls
00:15:18of UCU, future and unusual
00:15:21applicants meet. These are not teenagers, but experienced
00:15:25computer science teachers from schools in Lviv,
00:15:27Ivano-Frankivsk, and Poltava regions. They
00:15:30are interviewed by leading IT specialists of the country.
00:15:34Why? We are happy to welcome you to the project. We
00:15:37will not leave anyone behind. We are happy to announce that your school
00:15:41has been selected as one of 40 to participate in
00:15:44interviews. Based on these interviews, 24 participants
00:15:47will be selected. Their own
00:15:50project. These are some of my friends and colleagues,
00:15:54I'll tell you about them soon, but everything in
00:15:56its turn. The project "Leave No One
00:16:00Behind Partnership" is a comprehensive program
00:16:03aimed at training computer science teachers
00:16:08in programming, education systems, and robotics. The winners
00:16:11of the project receive not only unique knowledge that they can pass on
00:16:15to their students, but also the most modern equipment,
00:16:18computers, and sets for
00:16:19robotics.
00:16:24The idea to help Ukrainian schools with modern technology
00:16:27belongs to Mykola Kniazhytskyi. He is a staunch
00:16:30supporter of technology, keeps up with new developments, and enthusiastically
00:16:34talks about them. His eldest son Leonid,
00:16:37commander of a drone company at the front, keeps his father informed
00:16:41about the latest military know-how. The project that
00:16:44Mykola Kniazhytskyi started requires considerable
00:16:47funds, almost a million dollars. He
00:16:50involved partners from Taiwan, a country whose
00:16:54existence, like that of Ukraine, is threatened
00:16:57by an aggressive neighbor. Initially, of course, we had
00:17:00the idea to help with good computers. Taiwan is a country
00:17:04that is known for its IT sphere, which is...
00:17:07leading in the whole world in the production of parts for
00:17:10computers, in the production of computers themselves, and we started
00:17:14buying computers with their money, good computers,
00:17:17and transferred them to Lviv and Poltava schools. A computer
00:17:21that a school bought 5 years ago with some Chinese grant is now
00:17:24absolutely irrelevant and outdated, even morally,
00:17:28although it can stand and decorate classrooms like furniture, so we
00:17:32naturally take modern technology, and there was no robotics at all then, and then
00:17:36we faced the question: Okay, we handed over computers, we communicate with many
00:17:40teachers and see that these are great teachers, children win olympiads,
00:17:43but teachers also want to develop, and then we came up with such
00:17:47a topic, that we will teach teachers.
00:17:51The principle is simple: not everyone receives equipment, there
00:17:54won't be enough, it's for the most diligent, for those who
00:17:58are really ready to go all the way. In schools, they
00:18:01are expected, they are supported by colleagues, students
00:18:05root for them, and meanwhile the project experts
00:18:08have already started interviews, trying to understand whether the
00:18:11teachers came only for expensive equipment, or do they
00:18:15genuinely want to? In our school we have
00:18:18gifted drones, Tello
00:18:21DJI boosts, which we program
00:18:25with Python, my children program microbits
00:18:28five pieces, we also work with them, and then children
00:18:31came to us and said, we are interested in this, we did everything
00:18:35to identify
00:18:38those children who could, who have
00:18:41talent. Vitaliy Pomaz was joined by another teacher from this
00:18:45school, Oleksandr Klunnyk. We somehow
00:18:48found, as they say, each other, because I have a slightly higher
00:18:51skill, he has a lower one, in this
00:18:54case I act as a driver, he catches up with me, unfortunately,
00:18:58we have another computer science teacher
00:19:02stuck near the TCC and will not be
00:19:04present. Vitaliy Pomaz and Oleksandr Klunnyk,
00:19:08computer science teachers of the Tereshkiv Lyceum
00:19:11in Poltava region. Let's wait to see
00:19:14if they make it to the end, if they are not
00:19:18expelled, if the teachers return to their lyceum with the coveted
00:19:21computer equipment and robotics kits.
00:19:24The competition is fierce:
00:19:28143 schools submitted applications, but only
00:19:3248 participants are to be selected. The first stage
00:19:35of the competition was that we took. when we decided
00:19:38to select 24 schools, but from each school, well,
00:19:42what if a teacher goes to the army, for example, or gets sick,
00:19:46or quits, anything can happen, so we decided to train two
00:19:50teachers in each school and announced a competition among schools, it was very interesting, because I
00:19:53myself have many acquaintances,
00:19:56teachers, school principals, after all, in
00:19:59Lviv, in my homeland, many of my acquaintances call me and say,
00:20:03well, you studied with us, or we know you, so you will help our school.
00:20:07I want to help everyone, but of course, at the first stage
00:20:11we created such an independent competition commission, the Ukrainian Catholic
00:20:15University was responsible for all this, I did
00:20:16not interfere at all,
00:20:21and this is another colleague of mine and friend, Ulyana Pak,
00:20:24project coordinator, in the regions there are regional
00:20:28managers, but the main troubles fell on her shoulders.
00:20:32One of the main tasks that she had to perform was
00:20:35to ensure transparency and fairness during
00:20:37the selection process. We talked a lot about the fact that this
00:20:40competition was transparent, honest, and there was no
00:20:44one who would say that I was helped somewhere,
00:20:48someone said. to take exactly that teacher, and not
00:20:51another, indeed, it was a commission
00:20:55that works at the Catholic University,
00:20:58and it is the choice of
00:21:01the teachers, and we are very pleased, of course, that
00:21:04the geography is quite
00:21:06wide.
00:21:11And this is Iryna Khmil, she is not applying for the competition, but
00:21:14represents her colleagues. Ms. Iryna is the director
00:21:17of the Ivan Poluy Lviv Lyceum. Such
00:21:21an honor in honor of one of the inventors of X-rays
00:21:25obliges one to maintain a high standard. Well, and
00:21:28about the project itself, why are we there? Because today
00:21:32the name of our lyceum speaks for itself.
00:21:35The Ivan Poluy Lyceum, who was a researcher, who
00:21:39was an inventor. And
00:21:42who was, as we say today, a STEM teacher.
00:21:46STEM education. STEM is an acronym that stands for
00:21:50Science, Technology, Engineering
00:21:53and Mathematics. That is, science, technology,
00:21:57engineering, and mathematics. In essence,
00:21:59it is a synthesis of key disciplines that, in the modern
00:22:03technological world, prepares children to be able
00:22:06to design, analyze, logically
00:22:09think, test, and use
00:22:12tools to achieve practical
00:22:15goals. There are many teachers, and we want to help a very large number
00:22:19of schools, actually. We purchased over
00:22:22a thousand computers and robotic complexes. This is truly
00:22:25a pilot project, so we started with Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and
00:22:29Poltava regions, but of course we want to develop it for the whole
00:22:32of Ukraine. And here is another school from Poltava,
00:22:35more precisely, Lyceum number three. And here too there are two
00:22:39teachers. Will they make it to the end? Or maybe only one
00:22:42will be lucky? Viktoriia Ivanova and Tetyana
00:22:45Koniuchenko, computer science teachers from Lyceum number 3
00:22:48in Poltava. I have been working as a teacher for more
00:22:52than 20 years and want to continue to develop in order to
00:22:56be interesting to our students and have the opportunity
00:22:59to teach them something interesting.
00:23:03These are specialized classes, starting
00:23:06from the eighth grade, we have four hours of computer science,
00:23:10and there we teach
00:23:14this course in depth, we take from different
00:23:17sources, we absolutely go through training. Very cool
00:23:21platforms that they offer us, this is such
00:23:24a platform to be able to, this is an online Python
00:23:28course. Ukraine brought
00:23:31five gold medals from the Genius Olympiad,
00:23:34and three of them were gold, this is our Vika,
00:23:38Victoria, precisely in robotics, children
00:23:42brought various constructors, plus, when we didn't have elementary
00:23:45school, they had various Lego constructors, such as they
00:23:49were given. They were lying in bulk, when we sorted them by
00:23:53colors, we got to work. I will immediately ask you how
00:23:56you are ready to support these crazy girls, because
00:23:59the training will be like on their hands,
00:24:03they will learn the lesson, do a lot
00:24:06of tasks, the teacher did not ask for
00:24:10support from the director in vain, the training course lasts almost
00:24:13half a year, it is intensive, developed by the best
00:24:16IT specialists in the country, without the support of colleagues
00:24:20and school administration, it is almost impossible to complete it, no one
00:24:24canceled classroom work, so are teachers ready to recall
00:24:27their student youth and write tests at night?
00:24:31Perhaps, if someone for various
00:24:34reasons does not find time to complete tasks
00:24:38and submit them, we also have control
00:24:41exams, everything is so serious, then accordingly
00:24:44they may not finish. Tetiana
00:24:47Zakharchenko, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences,
00:24:51head of the bachelor's program in Computer
00:24:54Science at UCU. We want to try
00:24:57to implement robotics specifically within the academic
00:25:00lyceum. This will be integrated courses, both in
00:25:04robotics for children, who, for example,
00:25:07study advanced computer science, but they can choose an elective course.
00:25:10I can't wait to find out if Nazar Krutyak
00:25:14from Brody Gymnasium will reach the final. And
00:25:17so the independent commission made its difficult choice,
00:25:21all contestants are worthy, and the best gathered
00:25:25for the first module, which is held offline.
00:25:39We return again to the Ukrainian Catholic University,
00:25:43July 22, 2024.
00:25:46The first module of the code and create program begins.
00:25:51In total, 143 schools applied to participate in the project,
00:25:54of which 40 were selected. After interviews with
00:25:58the university commission, 24 educational
00:26:02institutions remained. They are represented by 48 teachers, two
00:26:05from each school, but this
00:26:08does not mean that the struggle is over, on the contrary,
00:26:12everything is just beginning, not every one of the 48
00:26:15teachers will reach the final, not everyone will receive
00:26:18equipment, but one thing can be said for sure, no one
00:26:22will be left without the knowledge that the best
00:26:25IT teachers
00:26:26in the country share.
00:26:32The entire course is built on the principle of university
00:26:35education, only instead of sessions, there are modules here. After
00:26:39each module, a part of the participants will leave
00:26:42the project, and between modules, classes will not stop,
00:26:46they will continue remotely, and with homework
00:26:49assignments. After the casting, the first
00:26:52module starts. Here, participants get to know each other and
00:26:56the teachers, receive equipment for work, and begin
00:26:59training. The second module is already working with
00:27:03the Arduino platform and learning the Python programming
00:27:07language. The third module. This is essentially
00:27:10the final session, at the end of which participants
00:27:13take an exam. Those who reach the final
00:27:16will defend their own projects, but in what
00:27:19form? What have the organizers
00:27:22prepared?
00:27:28The excitement of the selection is over. Those who passed
00:27:32the sieve gathered for the first time. Ahead
00:27:35is acquaintance, team work, and receiving
00:27:38equipment.
00:27:40And these are our acquaintances, Vitaliy Pomas and Oleksandr
00:27:44Klunnik from Tereshkiv Lyceum in Poltava region. In the first
00:27:48module, their eyes are burning, so much new and
00:27:50interesting. I have computer science lessons, but
00:27:53I believe that these lessons today are probably
00:27:57quite, let's say, mundane, because
00:28:00everything is according to the curriculum.
00:28:03And some office programs or something else, yes, so
00:28:07my colleague strongly said that we need to study, we must
00:28:10develop. However, Vitaliy and Oleksandr also have their own
00:28:14achievements that they can be proud of. Together with their
00:28:17students, they created the "Electronic
00:28:21Canteen" program, which significantly facilitated the work of school
00:28:24staff. They say that it used to take them
00:28:27to create a report
00:28:29on children's nutrition for a month, it took them
00:28:33a good 4-5 hours, because they had to consolidate all the figures. Our
00:28:37program helps, our platform, because it's hard to call
00:28:41it a program, it's a platform that does it, well,
00:28:44how long does it take us to open, select
00:28:47a month, select a menu type and click the generate button, well,
00:28:51that's a few seconds. And this is Oleksandr
00:28:54Novoselsky from Starokutsky Lyceum in
00:28:57Kosivshchyna, he came to the project with his wife, but
00:29:01due to illness she could not come. Mr. Oleksandr
00:29:04is convinced that he will reach the final, and he will also
00:29:07personally pass on to his wife all the acquired
00:29:10knowledge. Of course, she will be on the internet
00:29:13in the evenings, I will still introduce her to the course of affairs every
00:29:17day, but at home I will fully
00:29:21tell her everything, I will tell her and show her what we learned
00:29:24here. I am a teacher, I have almost 30 years of
00:29:27experience.
00:29:30I will try, I still have it.
00:29:35Behind every teacher who came to the first module
00:29:39are their own achievements, but they honestly admit that
00:29:42they do not have such technical capabilities as shown here in schools.
00:29:45How many interesting things can be invented with
00:29:49new equipment? Each participant received a computer and
00:29:52a robotics kit, and
00:29:55one of them is being unpacked right now. What does
00:29:58it represent? This is the entire computer that
00:30:02we are used to, the desktop computer that we see,
00:30:06everyone on their own desk, this is its microscopic
00:30:09copy. It is programmed, of course, the program
00:30:12is compiled on a large computer, then programmed
00:30:15through the input, and there are different inputs and outputs.
00:30:19You recognized it, right? This is me, but not yet assembled
00:30:22and not programmed. Do you think you can handle it? And
00:30:26you have a choice. If we came here to study, then we need to
00:30:29study, this is unambiguous, we need to go to the end.
00:30:32Well, there will be exams, well, we all and and
00:30:35what, it means more, we prepare,
00:30:38we pass, we need to study, you understand, that is, we have a goal, we have
00:30:42our children, and we want to give our children more, better, and
00:30:46we are always looking for some projects, competitions, grants, because
00:30:50then we will pass it on to the children, that is, for the children, we don't just work
00:30:54at school, that is, this is, well, this is truly
00:30:56a calling. Olena Hula and Nadiya Kalmu.
