00:06:26Britain in the back of Lorries. Take a little look at

00:07:08a passer by took the video and the lorry driver and
00:07:12lorry company were actually initially investigating on suspicion of human
00:07:16trafficking, but it turns out they actually had absolutely nothing to do with
00:07:20it, they did nothing wrong at all, in fact they are the real victims in all of this as you're about to
00:07:24find out, but we know that tens of thousands of illegal immigrants
00:07:28come across the channel every single year, but we have no idea
00:07:32how many come in lorries because they're just
00:07:35scarper when they arrive, but if you look at social media, the
00:07:39illegals are very much still giving the lorries a good gun,
00:07:54Okay, I said before, I'll say it again, just deport them singularly for their taste in music, but
00:07:58anyway, it's worth noting that some these people in Lorries even have knives
00:08:02with
00:08:02them,
00:08:10so how with all the security at the... bordering
00:08:13calet are so many illegals getting through in
00:08:17lorries? well, earlier today i spoke to the owner of that transportation
00:08:20company whose lory inadvertently had several illegal
00:08:24migrants in it. now listen very closely to what he
00:08:27said, well the problem is that with
00:08:31tachograph laws now we we we can't make the trip from Spain or
00:08:35Portugal back to UK in one hit, so on this occasion
00:08:39on this occasion the driver stopped in a place called ruim. is about 200
00:08:43kilometers south of Callei um it's in an overnight
00:08:47fairly secure truck stop as secure as it can be uh and we tend
00:08:51to sort of stay far away from Calay as possible because if you dare
00:08:55stopping cale you're going to get someone in your truck so we take the necessary
00:08:58precautions on this occasion what they've done they've got top the
00:09:01roof which is 4.2 m high they've cut a slit into the
00:09:05soft roof that we have on these trucks and they've climbed
00:09:09inside the truck then left the following morning depart. to
00:09:12call did not stop until we got to cale,
00:09:16firstly uh reported at uh border forces um
00:09:19french border forces, they checked the necessary um checks
00:09:23including the rear doors, we have these locking devices on the
00:09:27doors that you can't open by any means unless you got the right
00:09:31tool uh the ceiling called that was still sealed they put dog around
00:09:34the truck we then moved 400 yards forward into the uh
00:09:38uk border force control area and they done the same checks which is usual,
00:09:42but on this time they checked the truck on two occasions, the truck
00:09:46send free to leave, he departed on the channel tunnel, rive
00:09:50Folkston, and the minute you come off that train at Folkston, you pull onto the
00:09:54M20 and it's non-stop all the way to our depot in
00:09:56morden, um, our yard was quite busy at that time
00:10:00in the evening, so we asked the driver to just to sort pull into the layby between our two
00:10:04warehouses and has his parking in the layby, you can you
00:10:08it's clear to see from the evidence from the passer by that these four
00:10:12have climbed out the hole in the roof and jumped to the ground and off they
00:10:16went. mean, this has exposed a bit of a
00:10:19flaw, has it not in the checks there cuuse they scan it or they do
00:10:23whatever they do, but
00:10:25it doesn't seem as though they they they check the roof the lorry to see if
00:10:29anyone's cut in what i can't believe
00:10:32um
00:10:33and i've not made this trip for number of years and i will be making a trip very soon but why what
00:10:37i can't believe is why don't i have a CCTV that's six
00:10:40meters a pole
00:10:42you know to check in every roof of a truck because every truck has to go through the same
00:10:46lane the ball to control it'd be so easy to have you know
00:10:49a pole with camera any signs of a hole you can't hide a hole if they cut
00:10:53a hole in that truck you're to see it and then stop
00:10:57that truck and but i don't know some part
00:11:01of me just wondering whether you know is the issue then just moved to the
00:11:05uk you know the french just waving these trucks through knowing down well there's probably
00:11:09immigrants inside i don't i don't know it's not happened to us before we have

00:11:50assumed that you were you were importing illegals yeah
00:11:54because 'you know they see what they consider is um suspicious
00:11:58circumstances, why did our truck pull in the layer by and not into our
00:12:01depot? well look, if
00:12:03was a people smuggler i'd be pulling into my depot behind closed doors and unloaded
00:12:07them there not
00:12:07in laid by down the road, i have two warehouses
00:12:11literally quarter of mile apart, the trucks pull into there, they call
00:12:15the office and say we're here do you want us in yard yard b and then we
00:12:18instruct him to do so um terms for police
00:12:22i have to say not only was they far'. that was very fair,
00:12:26they have to arrest the driver, there's four eags in the back of that truck
00:12:30climbing out, they forensically tested my truck, forensically
00:12:34tested the tachograph to show the stops and the movements and i obviously
00:12:38checked what the driver had said,
00:12:40you know he's his course of actions and it all stacked up and they
00:12:44released my driver, thank god yesterday lunchtime and i've got the
00:12:47utmost praise from, they done
00:12:49a clean job, they've done a job and you know my
00:12:52driver's free to go, but the social media side of it is
00:12:56another story
00:12:57you know um and the problem is we advertise locally
00:13:01using my mobile number when I want people when we look for
00:13:05news and everything we always go in the community I'd be thinking about
00:13:09and the future because the the the abuse that we're
00:13:12getting um you
00:13:13know I've had death threats I've had people saying if anything happens
00:13:17to their children or their house gets broken into they know where I work they're going to come and get me
00:13:21you know how can I you know I've been doing this. 30
00:13:25years, how can that happen? it's ridiculous, social
00:13:28media is so wrong, but maybe well, mean
00:13:32i think a lot of people will watch and see this and
00:13:35hopefully realize that that's this got absolutely nothing to
00:13:39do with you, that really it's been through through two different rounds
00:13:43of checks that that should have picked this up and actually what you've done
00:13:47possibly is help expose a pretty fatal flaw on the on
00:13:51the french side that now might be corrected, you might actually end up stopping a lot more as
00:13:55coming to Britain, but I mean, it's fair to say you are not,
00:13:59you are not particularly pro illegal immigration, this is the thing, isn't
00:14:02it? exactly,
00:14:05you know, what we do, we're moving people around the world, you know, and yeah,
00:14:09so we're not that, and you look, these people desperate, I've seen these
00:14:13guys with my own eyes hanging onto axles of trailers that
00:14:17are moving fast through roads in front,
00:14:20it is incredibly unsafe and dangerous, they're desperate
00:14:24people, we need to do something, but we need to stop the flow,
00:14:28because it's becoming dangerous. last night was another issue in
00:14:31mid-channel, with with this boat that caught fire. more needs to
00:14:35be done, I'm sorry, more needs to be done. all right, well look, John, I
00:14:38really appreciate you taking the time for us and I'm sorry that you had to go through what you went
00:14:42through, but I do hope that that clears a lot of stuff up for lot of people,

00:14:54don't seem to bother. scanning the tops the lorries, so if the
00:14:57illegals just cut their way through the roof, the French won't be

00:15:09well? around 9,000 lorries come into Britain every single day,
00:15:13goodness only knows how many illegals are inside them, right? let

00:15:20public conservates, Mark Littlewood, it has exposed what appears to be gaping
00:15:24floor here, security at the border, which is the French don't check to see if they've cut their way in
00:15:28from the roof, yes, I mean, I'm not an expert in the
00:15:31practicalities of border security, but I would have thought that was fairly obvious
00:15:35check, I mean the other thing I think it's is patrick is
00:15:38and i've said this again and again on your
00:15:41show, i'm not saying that the french are disingenuous, but let's have
00:15:45look at their incentives. if you're running a country and
00:15:49undesirable people are trying escape, what are you going to do? are you
00:15:53going to actually try and keep them in france? probably not, you're going to look the other
00:15:57way, if fighting aged
00:15:59men who may be criminals or they're illegally are try to exit France
00:16:03and make it to some other territory, how fast are you going to be to prevent
00:16:07them doing? that so the burden's got to fall on us, I think really quite a lot
00:16:11more, and sure we can put in perhaps better checks at Dover or
00:16:14this came in at folkston, I think I heard if I heard that correctly, but we
00:16:18have got to stop the pull factor, if people believe there is a
00:16:22pot of gold at the end the rainbow, they will keep coming by
00:16:26their thousands, and it's not a myth, we have put a pot of gold
00:16:30at the end the rainbow, so they're going to keep coming, these people just need to find some
00:16:34law enforcement officer, put their hands in the air, shout, asylum
00:16:38come up with some cock and bull story and more likely than not they will stay
00:16:41here, so we've got to put our own house in the order. i think the
00:16:45criticisms of what the french have done given given we're giving them so much money are
00:16:49fair, but think i'd probably just switch that off and make it our own
00:16:52problem. well quite, mean it did also go through British
00:16:55security uh on that side the channel as well, so we are we
00:16:59are not blameless in all of this and that is something they're going to have to have to look at,
00:17:03but i don't by the way Jamie, i don't believe that they've actually caught these people, so there are... just
00:17:07some free ranger legal migrants roaming around the S6 countryside, well I was going to say,
00:17:11as an S6 boy, uh, first of all, well done to that S6 business for doing everything
00:17:15properly, and uh, it's wrong that they are to suffer any abuse
00:17:19from that, but I think the people that should suffer the abuse are the people that are responsible for keeping this
00:17:23country safe, that lorry with those people should not have been allowed to
00:17:27enter with those people in it, and that lorry driver should have been stopped when uh that
00:17:31lorry enter the United Kingdom, I don't care what's normal or not, the biggest threat
00:17:35to national security in this country at the moment is the... legal invasion to this
00:17:38country of fighting aged men like that that were climbing off of that lorry, they're coming to
00:17:42this country, they pose serious security risk, we know there's been some Iranians
00:17:46arrested for terror charges, we've seen people raped, murdered,
00:17:50sexually assaulted by these people that come into this country illegally, and I'm
00:17:53sorry, but any illegal entry to this country should be treated as a
00:17:57criminal offence and these people should be treated in that way, but I think it goes to show Patrick
00:18:01that we look at the small boats as very obvious uh
00:18:05indication of illegal immigration, yeah remember being from Essex, we had in
00:18:09Farek 39 people found sadly dead a lory, yeah um, you this is not
00:18:13an unusual thing, and the fact that the government haven't come to grips, previous
00:18:16and current government haven't come to grips with lorry illegal immigration
00:18:20is is really worrying, i think how many other lorries on the m25 that i've seen my
00:18:24journey here today have got illegal migrants in, well well it does make you wonder, mean

00:18:33that there's 9,000 lorries roughly that come across to Britain every single day
00:18:38'yeah, mean you can do the maths on that, it's there's potentially as many coming in in the
00:18:42backaures as there are in the boats, we just don't really hear about that, because they scarper, so you

00:18:48it is remarkable to me that when you go through these lorry checks according to
00:18:52this individual got no reason to to doubt him, there is not
00:18:56a camera above the lorry, well i expect they'll be doing that next,

00:19:02that they're finding ever more ingenious ways of doing it, the business with the
00:19:06with with being' smagled a lorry or or somehow jumping into
00:19:10somebody's motor home has been going on for years and was
00:19:13it was going on way before we had the the boat
00:19:17crisis problem I mean from I mean and and I think the government has
00:19:20actually issued something like 60 million pounds worth of fines
00:19:24in the last 10 or dozen years so they're doing something
00:19:28about it but you know you are you you are you are
00:19:32checked by the French and then you're checked by the British border force in
00:19:35France so
00:19:36you you're tr and I remember we used to do booz runs, which before
00:19:40brexit you could very happily do, go across on the ferry for a
00:19:43day, go to a supermarket, buy your cheese, your wine, fill your
00:19:47boot with you, with wine and then and come back through, and i
00:19:51remember every time we did that we'd be stopped and we have to open the boot, well you couldn't, you
00:19:54couldn't have fit a mouse in because we had so much wine in there, you could the
00:19:58could there couldn't have been anybody, but there a certain play you know there was there was apparently
00:20:02read about a couple in in Essex who were find 100 pounds and then it was
00:20:06revoked, because a migrants um tucked
00:20:10himself inside bike rack cover on the back their motorh yes

00:20:42your roof rack and you get fine, yeah, but then they they they've all they've all been revoked, I mean
00:20:46nobody's going to be fine if they're in that sort of situation, but I would like to say..."

00:20:54terribly sorry, he um he said how desperate they were,
00:20:58now if you're desperate, you're hanging onto
00:21:01axle, or if you're desperate you'd have to try and find a way, would you,

00:21:13people who are genuine refugees who desperately want different
00:21:16life, they're fleeing france need, they're fleeing france 'I mean, I
00:21:20would have more sympathy for that story of somebody has sort of piloted their own way here
00:21:24from Syria right, directly from an extremely oppressive
00:21:28country, but they many them have, but they're in France at the
00:21:32moment, the the value added of being in Britain other than
00:21:35France is not, oh thank god now I won't be tortured to death
00:21:39by the political authority, international law,
00:21:42you you are allowed to go to the country of your
00:21:45children, we should end that the argument, the argument that you're
00:21:49making.' there is valid one when they have crossed the border from say
00:21:53Syria to Greece or they've come to at the first point of a western
00:21:57civilization. the argument falls because they've traveled through many
00:22:01safe countries in order to get to Britain, but here's why it's so important that
00:22:05reforms policy of Operation Fortress happens, because lot of people are
00:22:08criticizing it this week, we're trying to stop these people drowning in the channel as well, don't

00:29:08Bonehill Paine was jailed for three years in 2015, after
00:29:12promoting an anti-jewification march
00:29:16online, and year later he received a further two-year sentence
00:29:20for racially harassing then labour MP Luciana
00:29:24Berger, but in prison he underwent rehabilitation for
00:29:27extremist defenders since his release, he's campaigned against extremism
00:29:31and anti-semit. and worked with exit hate and delivered counter
00:29:35extremism training to police officers. kemy back defended his selection
00:29:39saying that the party believes in second chances. he also runs the
00:29:43crew kern gazette account on x which i think many of you will actually know
00:29:47about here's some their

00:30:02now as president the Reform Jewish Alliance, Gary Mond and

00:30:13Gary, what, what do you think about this? Do you think he can be reformed, what do you think
00:30:17the Conservative's decision to have have let him stand and then and then they
00:30:21stand by him? I think this is horrendous error of
00:30:24judgment on the part of Mrs. Badonoch, um, yes, he can be
00:30:28reformed, yes he can be contrite, yes he can show remorse and he can't
00:30:32many good deeds and there's a lot of things he can do that can help the battle against
00:30:36anti-semitism, but to actually put him up as a parliamentary candidate or a
00:30:40council candidate or to give him a senior position in the conservative
00:30:43party, which is what Mrs. Badnoch is doing, is totally wrong, and
00:30:47it creates the wrong impression and is likely to lead
00:30:50to essentially a loss of support for the conservative
00:30:54party, particularly among the Jewish community. Okay, yep, Nicole, and
00:30:58your views. I know it's meant to be a debate, but I kind of...
00:31:02really agree with with Gary that I do people think people can
00:31:06be rehabilitated, but um, I've been looking
00:31:09into the story for a piece of telegraph that I've written, and the more I've read about
00:31:13him,
00:31:14the more... frightening his story is really in what
00:31:18he did to people i men luciana burger who
00:31:22was attachly by him but uh prior to that he
00:31:26just just was kind of general troll two
00:31:30people labeled people pedophiles people lost their businesses because
00:31:34of this and i don't think he should be stood up as as a
00:31:37counselor as a politician or even really being advising
00:31:41chemy badanock and uh kemy is someone who more than
00:31:45probably any other party leader has has has support from the Jewish
00:31:49community and people had faith in her, but I think it's been a it's a massive
00:31:53misstep really to to do this. Okay, Gary, let me
00:31:57just just put the other side of this up here then really. I mean, he has actually released a
00:32:01statement in which he has unequivocally apologized for his
00:32:04past, um, it does seem to show absolute genuine
00:32:08contrition and remorse, and has said that he's actually done his very best
00:32:11to in some way atone for the error. of his past,
00:32:15he now
00:32:16you know devotes his life when he's not uh,
00:32:18you know, apparently helping out to make some these, at times genuinely very funny AI
00:32:22videos uh, he he he tries to to to de-radicalize
00:32:25people and and and expose extremism, so some people would
00:32:29say he's actually he's perfectly placed to
00:32:33advise, can we b kock on this, no, no, um, there's two
00:32:37separate issues here, there's firstly that because of
00:32:41his past he would totally create the wrong image for the for
00:32:45any political party, let alone the conservatives and secondly, there's the
00:32:48issue
00:32:49of Mrs. Badinoch's judgment. We know that Mrs. Badinoch is widely regarded as
00:32:53a good friend the Jewish community, but just looking into the history the
00:32:57matter, look at how she behaved in 2023 when Suwella Braverman was
00:33:01home secretary and how she refused to support Suela over the
00:33:05scrapping the hate marches. I get the feeling that Mrs. Badnoch
00:33:08is somebody who who's support for the Jewish community, and here Nicole may disagree with
00:33:12me, but I get the feeling she's someone who support for the... community is only skin
00:33:16deep and the moment it's politically expedient to throw us under
00:33:19a bus she will do so. well, it was pretty pretty strong stuff.
00:33:23um, nicole, are you are you the view then that that anyone can actually
00:33:27be reformed? because we talk about it quite a lot in this show normally from the perspective of
00:33:31islamist extremism. um, do do do you believe
00:33:34that that that this guy has reformed, can
00:33:37reform? i think people can reform,
00:33:41and and you mention islamists extremists and and we've seen both.
00:33:45both things happen, we've seen some them reforming and being
00:33:49amazing advocates, both against anti-semitism and and
00:33:53trying to root out um islamism in their own community,
00:33:57and they are in many ways the most powerful voices, but then we have also seen
00:34:00some them, and there's one that I have in mind who was brilliant
00:34:04and was was kind of seen as a star, had his own radio
00:34:08show and then went completely other way down another
00:34:11conspiratorial hole, so this is one the things that... worries
00:34:15me about anyone who's an extremist in
00:34:18particular that are they always going to be somewhat
00:34:22extreme and I don't know and I think the thing with um with with
00:34:26Bonehill Pain is that we it's not been long enough to know really, I mean suddenly
00:34:30we're told that he's been doing all this work on antisemitism, I've been
00:34:33working uh writing about antisemitism for decade now
00:34:37and I didn't know he was doing any of that
00:34:40so I would like to know more about what he was doing and the thing that I would like to see
00:34:44him do more than anything else and kemmy is apologized to
00:34:48luciana and the other victims that weren't spoken to
00:34:51before this announcement was made uh because they're the ones that are hurting the
00:34:55most all right thank you very much sorry sorry Gary we're

00:40:37elderly woman was mistakenly fed dog food by
00:40:40careworker who confused the packaging for a frozen
00:40:44ready meal. It was just one of many shocking failings uncovered by the
00:40:48investigation which also found staff had recorded visits that never
00:40:52happened, so I they didn't turn up to care for her, they've served
00:40:55a inedible. food as well as the dog food and left
00:40:59her wet or in darkness overnight, absolutely horrific, isn't
00:41:03it? well, is this yet another example of Britain's institutions failing
00:41:07older people? and I'm sorry, but how on earth can you not
00:41:10read the packaging a label? joining me now, as reform UK
00:41:14group leader of Hampshire County Council and member of Portsmoth City
00:41:18Council. it's counselor George Madrick. George, I saw this
00:41:22story this morning because I saw that you'd posted about it on social media so thank
00:41:26you very very much for coming on. Look, it, it makes me so angry
00:41:29this. How on earth could a careworker not
00:41:33read that it was dog food a packet?
00:41:37It's shocking and I come on radio and TV and speak with... about things and
00:41:41this one for me has really hit home and i think it's hit home for lot of
00:41:45people because lot of us know people that have either been in adult social
00:41:49care are adult social care or potentially about to go into adult social
00:41:52care and this is really serious mean this this contractor in
00:41:56particular they hired 44 supposedly skilled workers
00:42:00in 23-24 foreign nationals
00:42:04and clearly one these people were looking off this particular
00:42:08patient i'd spoke to the family today 'uh the daughter in great detail and
00:42:12she's been an advocate and she's been fighting for this tooth and nail for a couple of
00:42:15years now to to raise awareness and get justice for her mother. as
00:42:19you said in your opening report, this isn't isolated to just dog food and that's
00:42:23bad enough, but as you stay stated in you open the report, this investigation
00:42:27found force feeding, it found not feeding at all, prolonged periods of
00:42:31isolation, um the do not resuscitate certificate scrunched up and put a
00:42:35cupboard. you know, report said that there was lack of mobility
00:42:38support uh, the st'. inedible food uh failure to
00:42:42record visits. I mean, this this was not just a one-time
00:42:45instant. In this particular instant that we're talking about in relation to the
00:42:49dog foods, um, careworker, there was two careworkers in there, careworker went
00:42:53into the freezer, got out packet of dog food, which was clearly
00:42:56labeled by the way, as dog food, and microwaved
00:43:00it. Uh, this careworker fed we believe, three
00:43:04spoonfuls of this food to the lady prior to the other
00:43:07careworker, noticing that there was dog. food packaging on the table, she
00:43:11said that she didn't understand or understand the labeling, and that's even a greater concern,
00:43:15Patrick, because if you can't provide the care where you're able to read
00:43:19food packaging, how are you meant to read prescriptions, how are you meant to read care
00:43:23records, and it
00:43:24took a further two weeks for to notify the family of this incident,
00:43:28it's truly shocking,
00:43:29it is, look, I just want to be clear about some me, are you saying you
00:43:33having spoken to the family that you are very confident that the
00:43:36individual who did this was actually foreign? it wasn't
00:43:40just
00:43:41some someone who i don't couldn't read. yeah, i thought it was
00:43:45really important to speak to the family directly before talking to the media today and i spoke to the
00:43:49daughter and she confirmed that the lady was foreign national who uh
00:43:53who put the food in the mouth, that's been confirmed, and there was an english
00:43:57careworker with her, which is the one that noticed the food packaging and on the side and
00:44:00stopped the uh any more food being given to the lady mid
00:44:04service. this is this, this is very serious questions, especially in light of what Andy Burnon wants to do with the
00:44:08care uh sector. which I think broadly speaking is a good thing, we need better care
00:44:12for our elderly elderly people in this country, there can be no doubt about that,
00:44:15um, but we keep hearing, don't we, if it wasn't for
00:44:18immigration, our care sector would would would would
00:44:22plum it, oh who would care for? well, I mean, there's a serious
00:44:26problem here and question marks about who we are actually bringing over to care for
00:44:30our elderly people, isn't that? can they speak English, can they recognize dog
00:44:34food, will they actually turn up to care for them, will they leave
00:44:38them in terrible situations? all night, you know, I mean, this is the
00:44:41thing, we do need better vetting, don't we, and and absolutely, this is, there is an
00:44:45absolutely wider national question here about the suitability these
00:44:49skilled workers that come over and the rigorous testing that they're put through, before
00:44:53they're given the responsibilities of looking after those in our society that are
00:44:57most in need, equally, how the government and how
00:45:00bodies react to these situations, it took an entire year almost for the
00:45:04CQC, the care quality commission to put this particular care
00:45:08group into special measures, the... May 2025, year,
00:45:12almost a year after the first report, so there is definitely a wider question of
00:45:15here of of how councils, local authorities and the wider
00:45:19network can support people to ensure the safety the people most in need.

00:45:27contacted counselor Matthew Winnington, cabinet member for community
00:45:30well-being, health and care who said we accept the ombudsman's findings in full and
00:45:34recognize the seriousness of what happened in this case, we ended our contract
00:45:38with Radis, which is the company in question. early and we no longer
00:45:42work with or commission them, the car described in the report is not the standard
00:45:45anyone should expect, particularly at such a vulnerable time in someone's
00:45:49life, we have apologized. the actual uh company
00:45:53rares community care said a statement, the fact that dog food was
00:45:57mistakenly provided was holy unacceptable, it said that it had improved its
00:46:01services and procedures and was no longer employing the careworker
00:46:04involved, right? okay, look, loads more coming your way, we're going to be talking about

00:49:37to Professor Jason Arday, the Cambridge professor, dubbed as Cambridge's youngest
00:49:41ever black professor, who's found himself embroiled in a plajurism row.
00:49:45Well, I can tell you that he's now resigned this evening, after a string of
00:49:48allegations, many claims he's made about his life have come under
00:49:51scrutiny. "he claimed to have run 600 miles in six days,
00:49:55feat that would have placed him amongst the world's elite athletes. he later modified
00:49:59it to say it was 12 days, actually. he claimed to have personally raised 5 million quid
00:50:03for charity. now he says that he was part of a syndicate of hundred people. he also
00:50:07alleged that a pig's head was sent to his parents house as part of harassment campaign,
00:50:11but the police appeared to have no record of this investigation. he also said he
00:50:15appeared a tv show that ed 20 years before he was born and
00:50:19today it's revealed yet another porky. yes, professor
00:50:22Jason our day repeatedly claimed that he was the author of a book called being young
00:50:26black and male challenging the dominant discourse which was said to explore
00:50:30stereotypes about black masculinity and apparently
00:50:34um he wasn't so that's quite important uh it really
00:50:38is the story that keeps on giving joining us this evening to discuss this
00:50:42is Mark littlewood uh Mark thank you very much well he's resigned this evening
00:50:45actually in a statement that some people are joking on on social
00:50:49media appears to be 100% AI generated. 'yes, you
00:50:53would have thought he would have had the good grace to at least have written his resignation himself,
00:50:57perhaps he didn't even do that. this is an extraordinary
00:51:00tale, Patrick. I mean, I think earlier in the show uh, you were
00:51:04referring to lot of people saying he's Britain's biggest example
00:51:08of a Walter Mity character, but on the face of it, it looks more like deliberate
00:51:12grifft, right? I'm not sure that he believes this about himself, that
00:51:16book you referred to, I believe, it's not just that he didn't write it, it was never
00:51:19published, such a book does, it just doesn't exist.' so it's
00:51:23extraordinary the extent to which he has uh, I
00:51:27mean not embellished his CV, but apparently entirely
00:51:31confected it, but the real story here I think is
00:51:34how on earth did one the great universities the
00:51:38world full for all of this ei? um, well, I
00:51:41mean, quite,
00:51:43but it, I mean, that appears to be the moral the story, doesn't it, that
00:51:46because he's got this uh, position of being the
00:51:50youngest black professor ever ever... at Cambridge, we we, we
00:51:54mustn't actually cross-examine his academic credentials and his
00:51:57various claims about his CV, some of which you would have thought you could
00:52:01check out incredibly easily, I mean you've mentioned that running. stuff yeah,
00:52:05mean he he would be in the British Olympic team, well there's also there's also
00:52:09look, it's very important to say this that as he was facing criticism and being called out for
00:52:13some of this stuff, loads of people rushed to his
00:52:16defense, and these are some very, very prominent
00:52:20people, and even some some some other people at
00:52:23Cambridge University, and he was saying, look, this is
00:52:27racism, yeah, this is essential, I'm paraphrasing here, but this is racist
00:52:31witch hunt, yes, and actually it's not is it?
00:52:35"I mean, I think that the racial dimension it isn't racism. I think
00:52:39that you might sort of say, oh, is this bloke actually just a
00:52:43DIRE, rather
00:52:44than academic hire? So that might put you on alert, but all the questions are
00:52:48reasonable. I mean, the most extraordinary part of this case in so far as the
00:52:52authorities not associated with Cambridge University are concerned, is a
00:52:56journalist from the Times Higher Education supplement started asking questions of
00:53:00him, and Scotland Yard intervened against the
00:53:03journalist because..." "this was apparently bad for our day's
00:53:07mental health, yeah, this is just absolutely incredible, just going to
00:53:10pause mark, sorry about that, thank you for stepping in, but we're very quickly now going to be talking by the associate

00:53:29up, um, you know, his credentials were so
00:53:32clearly uh questionable and uh with every day that passed there were more and
00:53:36more questions, there were more things that we looked at uh that just turned out not to be
00:53:40right um and I think there's some serious questions as I think
00:53:43your guests have been saying there um for Cambridge
00:53:47University, why was he appointed in the first place, why did they
00:53:50ignore uh people who were telling them as long as three years ago that you need to look at this
00:53:54guy, there's something not right, um why did they
00:53:58defend
00:53:59him, why did they accuse people like me as well
00:54:01as the times are education of vial campaign to undermine his
00:54:05credibility when we were just asking legitimate questions about his
00:54:09bonafidays um what are those people going to do now are they
00:54:13going to look at themselves um they certainly need to it's it's all the
00:54:17usual suspects i'm afraid that came into bat for him as well you know people
00:54:21professors of black studies people are have got you experts in
00:54:25decolonization and all of that stuff and then
00:54:27you know they're going to have to they're going to have to show some contrition now look gordon thank you i'm sorry it's so short and

00:55:01to you this is your GB news weather forecast from the Met Office. Whilst there
00:55:05is some thundery rain across parts of Scotland at the moment, most of that will clear
00:55:09through overnight, leaving a fresher, dryer day for many of
00:55:13us tomorrow. We do still have a frontal system making its way across
00:55:17Scotland at the moment, and this is bringing further outbreaks of rain, some
00:55:20could still be heavy and thundery for a little while yet, but through the night
00:55:24we will see the rain in the north breaking up a little bit and so it will
00:55:28be turning dryer. All the time across southern areas it will be dry
00:55:32night with lots of clear sky and that temperatures are going to
00:55:36be a little bit lower than they have been through some recent nights, mid-teens
00:55:40across some southern areas, some places further north getting into single
00:55:44digits, so we do wake up tomorrow morning to a bit of cloudy start
00:55:48across central and eastern parts of Scotland and there will be some rain but
00:55:52not as much rain as we've seen through recent days and actually western parts
00:55:56of Scotland having some decent sunshine through the morning. a bit of a shary
00:56:00mix of sunny spells, shary burst of rain for northern ireland,
00:56:03cloudia across parts of and western England and Wales and few spots
00:56:07of rain can't be ruled out, but central and eastern parts will get off to
00:56:11fine sunny start. now some the cloud in the north will feed a bit further
00:56:15southwards, so there will be some cloud at times across southern areas, but there should break up
00:56:19into the afternoon with increasing amounts of sunshine here and further north,
00:56:23well apart from the odd spot of rain it is going to be much dryer than it has been
00:56:26recently, especially by the afternoon. with that though, slight change in
00:56:30our wind direction means especially in the southeast it's going to feel markedly fresher than it has
00:56:34done. late high of around 22 or 23 celsius.
00:56:38Into Friday and w much the UK will be largely dry, just few spots of rain
00:56:42here and there, towards the far northwest, there's likely to be some wetter

01:01:52headlines tonight at 10. The police watchdog has dropped its
01:01:55misconduct case against the Met firearms officer involved in the fatal
01:01:59shooting of Chris Kabber. The officer was cleared of murder last year
01:02:03after shooting the 24-year-old in South London in
01:02:062022, but he'd still been due to face possible
01:02:09misconduct action. The independent office for police conduct says it
01:02:13reviewed the case after changes to rules around police use of force.
01:02:17Met commissioner Sir Mark Rowy says that the decision ends almost four years of
01:02:21uncertainty for the officer, the campaigners for Chris Cabber's family
01:02:25say it sends a dangerous
01:02:26message. Come baby. is
01:02:30facing growing backlash tonight after a former neo-nazi who withdrew as a
01:02:34conservative council candidate was offered an advisory roll within the
01:02:38party. Joshua Bonehill Paine had been selected to stand in Somerset
01:02:42despite previously being jailed for subjecting a former labour
01:02:45MP to what a judge called cruel campaign of vile and
01:02:49racist abuse. He has now withdrawn his candidacy saying he needs
01:02:53to show the Jewish community how much he regrets his previous
01:02:56actions. But labor says giving him an advisory role. insult and
01:03:00claims it raises serious questions about Kemmy Beadenock's
01:03:04judgment.
01:03:09Cambridge University's youngest black professor has resigned after
01:03:13a row over his academic record. Jason Arday, a
01:03:17professor of sociology of education, stepped down after the university
01:03:21launched investigation into his qualifications and honory
01:03:24appointments. The inquiry followed reports questioning claims that he
01:03:28made about his career in. including a book he said he had
01:03:31published and allegations the part of his PhD thesis were
01:03:35copied from another student. Professor Arday says the accusations and
01:03:39public commentary have taken a profound toll and says his
01:03:42resignation should not be mistaken for accepting the claims made against
01:03:46him. Also tonight
01:03:50West Streating is facing questions over donations from a think tank linked
01:03:53to disgraced cryptocurrency fraud stuff Sam Bankman
01:03:57freed. Reports have emerged new defense secretary accepted
01:04:01more than 37,000
01:04:04from labor for the long-term in 2022 and 23. the
01:04:08think tank's founder had received more than half million pounds from bankman
01:04:12free shortly before its first donation to mr
01:04:15streeting. well west streating spokesman claims all donations were properly
01:04:18declared, all due diligence was followed and there is no suggestion he
01:04:22knew about the source the founder's
01:04:24funding. new official
01:04:28guidance on single sex spaces as come into force today across England, Wales
01:04:31and Scotland. The code published by the Equality and Human Rights
01:04:35Commission covers public facilities, including toilets and changing
01:04:39rooms. It says trans people should use either gender neutral
01:04:42facilities or those that match their biological sex. The
01:04:46guidance follows last year's Supreme Court ruling the sex inequality law means
01:04:49biological sex rather than gender
01:04:52identity.
01:04:56And Ed Millerband has been challenged today over his past criticism of Donald Trump. Trump,
01:05:00during talks with US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, the new foreign
01:05:04secretary, was asked whether he still stood by comments he previously made
01:05:07about the US president. Mr. Do you
01:05:11still think the president is an idiot, racist and
01:05:15misogenist? Well, Ed Miraban didn't answer that
01:05:18question, instead, smiling and saying he was looking forward to the meeting.
01:05:22Behind the smiles though, the talks focused on some the biggest global issues
01:05:26facing both countries. The pair discussed the wars in Ukraine and Iran. on the
01:05:30situation in Gaza to and efforts to reopen the straight of Hour Moose.
01:05:34Mr. Millaban says reopening that vital shipping route is essential
01:05:37to easing cost of living pressures here at
01:05:39home. Those are the latest headlines. One

01:06:06Good evening, Andy Burnham has gone to war with the police. Today, the police
01:06:10federation threatened legal action against the labour government over the early
01:06:14release of two remorseless cop killers. The two
01:06:18monsters guilty the killing of PC Andrew
01:06:22Harper. Uh, there they are, yes, just smiling away
01:06:25is uh being led away. Uh, now Andrew
01:06:29Harper was an officer with Tems Valley police who
01:06:33today came out and openly criticized the prime minister. I do
01:06:37worry about the morale, not just of my own organization, the confidence uh of
01:06:40my my 10,00 people who work uh with Tim valley police.
01:06:44So I'd urge the government to uh look again at this issue. I know it's a difficult
01:06:48situation uh because the prison crisis that we have, but I would urge the
01:06:52government to to look again because I do think there is risk of impacting public
01:06:56confidence in the criminal justice system. Pretty rare for. please force
01:07:00to come out and say something like that about a prime minister, but it does get worse for the prime
01:07:04minister. it's emerged today that
01:07:069,300 domestic abuses are said to be
01:07:10released early thanks to his government's
01:07:13decision, so how many women and children will be put at risk there?
01:07:17there's no way that you're telling me that the authorities are going to be able to keep tabs on all them, and we
01:07:21actually know that this is backfired before. domestic abuser
01:07:24Jason Hoganson was released early back in November
01:07:282024. he was then... to prison 24 hours
01:07:31later after immediately trying to contact the woman he was in
01:07:35prison for abusing has let
01:07:39down the police and survivors of domestic abuse. but now it's emerged is
01:07:43also letting down children who've been sexually abused. Initially,
01:07:47lot of people misread headlines like this, mainly because
01:07:51people wrote quite dodgy looking headlines, because it makes it
01:07:55sound that doesn't it, like any rapist or any child sex abuser won't
01:07:59be released, but that's not true. what labor has actually said
01:08:03is that only the serious child sex offenders won't be allowed out
01:08:07early. i'm sorry, is there any form of child sexual abuse that isn't
01:08:10serious? unfortunately and... Vernam can't face questions about this because he
01:08:14decided to swan off on holiday, but if I was interviewing him, I'd just
01:08:18ask him to specify exactly which child sex offenses he thought
01:08:22were unserious and it's all warped, isn't it? And if you just
01:08:26want more evidence of how mental the justice system is. Take a look at
01:08:29this.

01:08:42harbor dead after the vial armed criminal tried to drive his
01:08:46car into police officers will now not face misconduct hearing, that's good,
01:08:50that's the good bit, okay, that's not the bit that's warped, the warp bit
01:08:54really is this, um, today's decision by the IPC that after four
01:08:57years NX121 will not be facing any
01:09:01misconduct um hearing is welcome,
01:09:05but this has taken far too long, oh
01:09:09it's taken far too long, oh I've always been on the side of of. of this
01:09:12particular police officer, personally, I just think Mark Rowy and the
01:09:16man actually can get stuffed, because watch closely here, you might
01:09:20recognize the police officer in this video,
01:09:24and this was taken shortly after the shooting of Chris
01:09:27Cabber. Firstly, I would like to offer my heartfelt
01:09:31condolences to the family of Chris Cabber, I can't begin
01:09:35to imagine what they're going through at this difficult time for them, as they try to
01:09:39come to terms with the loss their loved one. I know there is...
01:09:43deal of concern out there about this instant, the
01:09:46community are hurt and there is
01:09:48trauma. that man is Alexis
01:09:52Boon, the bloke now in charge of Hampshire police and the force which
01:09:56delayed administering first aid to Henry Novac because they believed his
01:10:00ethnic minority murderer instead of him, and Alexis Boon could not issue
01:10:04anything like the same emotion over that as he did after
01:10:08Chris Carper was shot and killed, yeah he was at the met at
01:10:12the... and he was apologizing that to the family of
01:10:15Chris Carber, worried about the community, oh gosh, I know you've experienced trauma.
01:10:19Carber had actually shot a bloke a busy nightclub not long before he
01:10:23himself was killed by a police officer who was just trying to protect himself
01:10:27and others. It actually also took a jewelry just matter of hours to clear the police
01:10:31officer for murder. It has taken the IOPC four
01:10:34years now to clear his name entirely. Why did the CPS
01:10:38even charge it? I suspect simply because he shot a black man. and
01:10:42they were worried about being called racist. the justice system in this
01:10:46country is absolutely rotten to the core, isn't it? let's
01:10:50get the views of my panel on this now. mark, we'll start with you, Mark littlewood. um, look, there's obviously a couple
01:10:54of different aspects to this. um, firstly uh, the early
01:10:58release scheme, Andy Burnham appears to have have lost the
01:11:01support of Tems Valley police, I suspect wider police forces as
01:11:05well, and you know, he's accused now of letting
01:11:08down victims of domestic abuse and childs. victims
01:11:12of sexual abuse. It's absolutely incredible this. I know that
01:11:16the uh defenders the labour government will say, and it's a fair
01:11:19criticism that the conservatives didn't build enough prison places, but
01:11:23you've had two years to think through what your early release scheme
01:11:27might look like, and in rough terms I think it's about 50% the prison
01:11:31population are in there for violence or sex crimes. Well, I would completely
01:11:35discount that lot and look at the other 50%. There also doesn't
01:11:39seem to be any clarity around what the terms. of early release
01:11:43might be, I mean, for example, if you released someone,
01:11:47preferably not a child sex offender, but somebody who have been involved, I don't know, a
01:11:50robbery, and you said, well, you've actually got to stay at home
01:11:54or within a mile of your house, or if you've traumatized some innocent
01:11:58people a particular town, you can't go within 10 miles of that town, none
01:12:02these conditions appear to have been thought through either, it's absolutely
01:12:06extordinary, because the the overcrowding was a problem that
01:12:10this government inherited, but it's had two... years to think through the
01:12:14solution and Addy Burnham's making it up over his
01:12:17tea over over a weekend, it's absolutely mad, so I'm
01:12:20unsurprised that the police force are worried about this buse in
01:12:24essence their workload goes up because they know lot of
01:12:28crims are coming out of prison and will be in the community much earlier than was
01:12:31anticipated, yeah, and when it was first released
01:12:35that I think it was, it was misreported
01:12:38actually, um, the headlines were were poorly written.
01:12:42about there'll be no rapists released or child sex offenders,
01:12:46but actually when you read it, they say no serious child sex offenders,
01:12:50so just just a little bit of child sex offendings okay, but we
01:12:54we draw the line. something else, I find that really perplexing the
01:12:57government now deciding and we can't question him because he's on holiday, this
01:13:01is the thing we can't say to him, sorry Andy, which which child sex offenses
01:13:05do you think are okay? well, unfortunately we've got a prime minister that becomes prime
01:13:09minister and then avoids going to parliament, despite having the opportunity to go to parliament, chose not
01:13:13to, chose to muddle around with that, then all these horrific things are
01:13:17happening and we are getting misleading headlines of course from the establishment Westminster
01:13:21media that don't like
01:13:22to tell the British people the truths, if they do that there would be a problem in this country. 'I think if people
01:13:25knew what's really going
01:13:26in this country
01:13:27we would see civil unrest and then of course we then have uh the situation
01:13:31here where we've got a prime minister who I don't
01:13:35actually think he's that bothered about uh prisoners being released early
01:13:39what he's bothered about is that the public might start turning on him a bit quicker
01:13:43than he thought already we've seen the burn and bounce isn't a thing already we're
01:13:46seeing that he is incredibly unpopular with his choices of government
01:13:50appointments so I think what Burnham will be doing is trying to
01:13:54hide and I mean'. by the way, how on earth is that bloke on holiday right
01:13:57now? he's just become prime minister. mean, most normal people when they get a
01:14:01job don't go on annual leave within a few weeks i mean it's absolutely
01:14:04crazy. i've got nothing against people having arrest. but the point
01:14:08about um this story
01:14:09i think and i think particularly with this police officer here is we have
01:14:13serious situation in this country where the police are bothered about
01:14:17offending absolutely everybody apart from white people. that's the truth for the
01:14:21matter. heterosexual white people even worse so we've got a situation this.
01:14:25where people are too scared
01:14:26to talk about um radical islam because they might be called islamophobic which is not
01:14:30a real world - they try to - talk about the fact that actually
01:14:34we should do stop and search but all no though that's really offensive towards black people the reality
01:14:38in this country is the police and by
01:14:40the way police officers tell me this police officers and they'll get sacked if they say a
01:14:44work but they tell me essex police officers in particular and police officers in a met that live in
01:14:48essex that also my residents tell me they are so scared
01:14:52to speak the truth at work because the institute. bias
01:14:56is unbearable, but these people have got mortgages to pay, and so what we need to
01:15:00see, and I hope police officers do this, I hope we start to see them actually
01:15:04whistleblow what is really going on in our police forces, because the institutional bias against
01:15:08white people is horrendous. Well, okay, we'll focus on
01:15:12the early release thing and we'll come to the Chris Cabber police officer a
01:15:15second, but this early release thing is is is going south pretty quickly for
01:15:19Bernnam, isn't it? I mean tally police to come out today, people are trying to stick
01:15:23things to burn at the moment because... is desperate to bring him down just as he
01:15:27started, he started well, he started, he's announced um plans
01:15:31every single day since he started, and and he's entitled to a
01:15:35holiday, he the man probably hasn't slept in months,
01:15:39and you we need a prime minister who who is fresh and
01:15:42you can come back and make decisions, always is the time when most people are on holiday, this is the
01:15:46easiest time to take a holiday, if he took a holiday in the middle of something where
01:15:49it was, parliament's not sitting, how can you grudge the a
01:15:53holiday, he he needs to reach charges batteries and come back
01:15:56and anybody, I mean you're sneering, Jamie, but
01:16:00I can't keep Patrick, this times when you've been on your absolute knees and you have needed
01:16:04a holiday and you've taken a holiday and nobody's castigated you,
01:16:08we've all been also cancel my honey mood to report on the general election, well feel
01:16:12like that wasn't necessary for fatigue was it,
01:16:14no,
01:16:20so selfish
01:16:24duty. an organisation as the prime minister is head of
01:16:27government and things are going wrong in the organization you can't
01:16:30leave things things are not
01:16:34going wrong and a
01:16:37the thing rock
01:16:37is between rock and the hard place that when when labor took
01:16:41over there just 700 odd places
01:16:44and you were quite right you try to lance the ball saying that the
01:16:48touries were actually you know disastrous with
01:16:51this they they can't they you dumped 20% three
01:16:55prisons,
01:16:56you actually abol two years to work this government, well let's
01:17:00just get to the the the spending billions
01:17:03of god all well okay,

01:17:08want to fit this in nina, sorry right so you allowed them to speak for hours and hours and
01:17:12hours apparently fell asleep listening to them, oh god well hopefully the viewers didn't anyway um so

01:17:27member the met who was doing a a groveling video apology to the family of
01:17:31chriskar, if i had been that firearms officer then, i'd have been thinking, right, well there you

01:17:39disaster, mean i i think essentially what we've had, i've got some sympathy with
01:17:43what Jamie said, is the outcome, but we've basically seen
01:17:46a massive overcorrection in policing, i think if
01:17:50you go back to the 70s, 80s, possibly in the 90s, there is a
01:17:54problem, "you start looking at the statistics of what sort of people are dying in police
01:17:58custody, for example, and it doesn't tend to be white people, that had to
01:18:02be dealt with, but it's gone way too far the other
01:18:05way uh, we have got..." to instill in every
01:18:09copper um from the most junior trainee right to the
01:18:12top that their overarching priority is to

01:20:32and basically it was one these cases where when the jury
01:20:35actually watched the video, they're like, why the heck is this guy

01:20:50was essentially just say oh i'm so sorry for the trauma that you
01:20:54suffered if i came and issued a statement like that on an active court
01:20:57case i i feel like i could get done for contempt of
01:21:01court well this is it isn't it ultimately we have a
01:21:04DI rot in our institutions public
01:21:07institutions, I want police officers, especially firearms police
01:21:11officers to have zero hesitation to shoot someone, it's
01:21:15a danger to the public when they have made that assessment that they are trained to do. I want
01:21:19zero concern from them about whether or not they've got a lawyer behind them
01:21:23about to take away their life, their mortgage and maybe even their freedom. And what happened in
01:21:27this case is a police officer in the line of duty protecting the
01:21:31public has had four-year punishment by process because he
01:21:35did his job and it's the same for our arm. is same for our veterans who are worried
01:21:39about the lawyers behind them rather than the them enemy
01:21:41front in and so so you've got you got few justice stories rolled into one there
01:21:45and essentially what it boils down to is that you've got a completely innocent
01:21:49firearms officer who was very bravely doing his job who nearly had his
01:21:53life completely destroyed and then you've actually got uh
01:21:57non-serius quote i'm airquoting for our radio listeners their child
01:22:01sex offenders being released you've got domestic abuses being released and you've got
01:22:05cop killers being released early it's just where
01:22:07are they to go? if if we don't have the places, where are they to go?
01:22:11and the problem is that that when we release prisoners, the
01:22:15recitivism rate is 50 to 60%, and most these
01:22:19people are that are coming back, the places are being taken by people coming back in
01:22:22within not in prison for violence, we should be looking at
01:22:26that, we should be looking at that, but the state of our prisons is is is a they're
01:22:30supposed to be not only to to to punish people, not only to keep
01:22:33them away from the public, but they're supposed to rehabilitate them because
01:22:36what is the point of releasing them? 'if they are not fit for society and and
01:22:40and and be able to contribute and get a job. All right, I think I think with that though,
01:22:44the first bit be have to choose some genuine remorse, which some people do, but there's no
01:22:47evidence of it unfortunately when it comes to the killers of of PC Andrew Harper, the
01:22:51certainly not not publicly, but anyway that's that's the dreadful thing, and as always the
01:22:55victims are just not important in this conversation, and that's the worst thing about

01:28:14well, welcome back. so this is an absolutely remarkable story, so it's
01:28:18becoming a familiar story. from the police, I'm afraid, remember
01:28:22when telegraph columnist Allison Pearson found police at her
01:28:26door over social media post which she last week actually received apology
01:28:29and damaged for, but the... of essex police
01:28:33and then there was the couple arrested after
01:28:37criticizing their daughters primary school a whatsapp group. well
01:28:41now journalist jonathan sakadoti had the police turn up at his home
01:28:45after a tense exchange with a green party
01:28:48canvasser. the case was later dropped and no further action was
01:28:52taken. is this another example the police spending time
01:28:56policing speech instead of fighting crime? i'm very pleased to be joined this
01:29:00evening by the journalist. and Saccadoti, well,
01:29:04thank you very, very much. So can I just get something straight then? So people knocked on your
01:29:08front door, so they've turned up, unannounced, a property you
01:29:11own, and then you've had disagreement with them, and then they've
01:29:15reported you to the police, what's happened?
01:29:19So back during the campaigning period before the local
01:29:23elections, the green party did turn up to my house, as lots of
01:29:27parties do, and I told the canvaser that I didn't want them here, that
01:29:30I'm Jewish, and that I can... their party to be anti-semitic and I
01:29:34was very disturbed by the policies that the party was putting
01:29:38forwards, so when they did turn up again, um, sometime later,
01:29:42few weeks later, I was quite angry, because I had basically, as far
01:29:45as I was concerned,
01:29:47opted out, and this is something that they should record, they should not turn up at my
01:29:50home, uh, and so another canvas turned up, and I once
01:29:54again expressed my dissatisfaction uh, with their
01:29:57policies, with their views, uh, and then a conversation ensued, let's
01:30:01say, uh, "and I did go out of my house and
01:30:05discuss with this candidate down the street somewhat, because she said a
01:30:09couple of things which really did, I would say trigger me, they made me very upset, they made
01:30:13me feel quite threatened and harassed, and that was that at one point when I
01:30:17asked if she like the party leader believed that Jews were
01:30:21worried about the perception of anti-semitism, you might remember Zak Palanski said
01:30:25that instead of actually anti-semitism, despite the fact that Jews had been
01:30:28killed on Yumkipur in Manchester, that Jews had been..."
01:30:32in gold as green that ambulances and synagogues had been
01:30:35firebombed, I asked that and I asked if they had a problem with
01:30:39Jews in the party, she replied that she has lots of
01:30:43Jewish friends who are anti-zionist and that maybe there
01:30:47will be less anti-semitic attacks, fewer anti-semitic attacks on
01:30:50Jews if Israel stopped killing children, now these sorts of things
01:30:54really did make me very upset, and I argued
01:30:58back, we had a conversation, I would say we had robust exchange of.
01:31:02and then she started to ignore me uh, and for all of this,
01:31:06weeks later, once they'd one in this area, I got this knock at the
01:31:10door, we'd gone our separate ways at the end of this, and then I got this knock
01:31:14on the door from the police who insisted on coming into the house uh, because they
01:31:17said my neighbors might see if they were talking to me on the doorstep, and they
01:31:21said that there was an allegation of harassment, that I had harassed
01:31:25this woman who'd come to my door, when an actual fact they had come
01:31:29to my house when they knew I didn't want them here, it turned... from what the police
01:31:33said to me, the police woman said that they were aware who I was,
01:31:37that I was a journalist, they know I'm Jewish, I told them that, I
01:31:41also have mezuza on my door which is a Jewish item that identifies the home as a
01:31:45Jewish house, so I felt very threatened by this, and I must say that I do
01:31:49think that the green party is extremely problematic for Jews, and so I
01:31:52think it was completely reasonable that when somebody comes around to try and sell this
01:31:56political party to me, I might actually have something to question them
01:32:00about or to disagree with. Well
01:32:02I mean that it's that is a part of canvassing to an extent isn't
01:32:06it I suppose and um political debate you
01:32:10is a is a thing that should not be criminalized there just seem to be a bit of a discrepancy here between the way
01:32:14the police have handled this and the way that they've handled things like
01:32:18uh yeah pro- palestine demonstrators turning up outside synagogues,
01:32:22restaurants, cinemas uh and and actually at times
01:32:26elected politicians homes and and and and berated them
01:32:30or block people block people going in.
01:32:32I i 'I do wonder if the police forces in those areas have knocked on
01:32:36every single person's front door there and and questioned them about
01:32:39harassment. Well, you know what, Patrick, you, I, I agree
01:32:42with you, because I've called the police in the past for things that have happened in this
01:32:46street and they don't turn up, like the wind screen of my car or
01:32:50rather the window of my car got smashed in uh, my car
01:32:54had things stolen from it, and I called them as it was happening cuz I was right
01:32:58next to it, they told me it's not life or death, we're not sending anyone, I've called
01:33:02them.' "when the people in the local grocery shop down the road had been
01:33:05threatened by the regular shoplifters with a bottle they'd stolen,
01:33:09they threatened to strike the workers there, they won't come for that, but for this,
01:33:13because the green party said that I was harassing them when they
01:33:17came to my home when they knew who I was, and they
01:33:21then refused to answer those questions about their party's
01:33:25policies. I i just think that was an outrageous abuse of police time, I think it's
01:33:29really weird that the police came, and then in the end the police dropped this after..."
01:33:32sometime and after i involved lawyers paid for by the free speech
01:33:36union - they dropped it because they said there was literally no
01:33:40evidence that the allegation this woman had made happened
01:33:43so bearing in mind they had had literally no evidence, i
01:33:47don't understand why they came to my house, to my door, to my
01:33:51home. an englishman's home is his castle, and i would say that to
01:33:55turn up here and try to intimidate me, and that's what i felt was happening, i felt
01:33:59this was attempt to intimidate me, when the police told me that they knew who i
01:34:03who i am, that they know that i'm a journalist, it seemed very clear to me that
01:34:06perhaps these people disagree with my opinions generally.
01:34:10yes, well, suppose that will be the that would be the implication is that if they
01:34:14if they knew that didn't like it and they thought, well if we turn up second time he
01:34:17might he might kick off or something and then they then they they they try to kind
01:34:21of may i just say if if you got time you
01:34:25know the the the reason that i found them so triggering triggering
01:34:29is that you know deputy leader mothan alley posted on around October the
01:34:337th 2023 that indigenous people have a right to fight
01:34:37back and he later also called a leads jewish chaplin an
01:34:40IDF reservist a creep and an animal who went to Israel to
01:34:45kill women and children and that chaplin's family had to go into hiding,
01:34:48we've had the new castle candidate from the greens posting from a
01:34:52parody and frank account who called for every zionist to be killed, called them
01:34:56verman and rats, we've got this

01:35:01just it's important for me to say at this point that none of those people that you've red off here
01:35:05are are here to defend themselves this evening and and look i know that they've released a couple of statements
01:35:09about things like that and done that not that you would necessarily
01:35:13agree with what they've said obviously but they releaseed statements over the over the years
01:35:16there just trying to either clarify their positions
01:35:19or or deny certain things, but yes um, but look, I mean, for me it just seems absolutely
01:35:23baffling that we don't we don't have serious crimes being solved on our streets, but someone could turn
01:35:27up, someone could turn up there and and report you and then they end up the they end up
01:35:31sending police officers around around to your house, it just seemed like under the free speech issue and it's you
01:35:35know again it's it is absolutely boncus and it does come in light
01:35:39the fact that um some activists not from the green party well not openly from the
01:35:43green party anyway were going door to door to people's
01:35:46houses in places like I think it was Bristol or Brighton
01:35:50and and asking them if they wanted to support a boycot of Israel and the making
01:35:54a little note of everyone's addresses depending on what they said which I mean I found
01:35:58incredibly sinister and I'm not Jewish so there we go but Jon look thank you very very

01:42:49obsessed with seeing division everywhere, it's supposed what they really are, yeah you've got
01:42:53people here some high profile Cambridge university leaders who support this
01:42:57guy, lord Simon Wolly, the principal of Homerton College at Cambridge,
01:43:01prominent peer in the House of Lords, is is is one them who initially supported
01:43:05this guy, did did Lord Wooley google or go
01:43:09to or go to any the any the the
01:43:13universities is guys claim to a work for, did he do it, or did he just
01:43:16see fellow black person and think i need to support you?
01:43:20yeah, well that's the question isn't it, I mean Nina's right, nobody's died
01:43:24as a consequence of this, so that's some uh...

01:43:31hospital and said, I think this chap who is conducting

01:45:49should be accountability, the thing is, do we know whether he was a good
01:45:52professor or not, do we know whether he was a good that he taught

01:51:56stabbed uh on the west end earlier today which is uh
01:51:59devastating of course the daily start um they go
01:52:03for - it's Kent eastwood which I believe is a
01:52:06comment about how dry kent is I think it's a bit of
01:52:10pathetic stretch as all the I'm sorry but
01:52:14with this stuff all these people posting pictures online going like oh my gosh England
01:52:18isn't supposed to look like this it's not supposed to be this dry I mean there's a labor counselor.
01:52:23uh in an area where i live actually who's just posted, oh my gosh, how is westminster
01:52:27school allowed to water its own pitch when you've got people who, well actually it
01:52:31turns out that that um apparently westminster school um
01:52:34actually has its own kind of almost reservoir which
01:52:38they they they they store themselves, they they they are able to
01:52:41probably be nationalized then, they're able to manage their own water
01:52:45intake and then and then use it for their own personal benefit,
01:52:49but there no one seems to be speaking up and going, well thanks to... rapid
01:52:53population growth over the last 20 years and us doing absolutely nafor with our
01:52:56infrastructure, we now can't water our parts? no, and it's
01:53:00also thanks to the complete ineptitude and crookery the water
01:53:04boards um who have not built reservoir and
01:53:08who there's more water lost through leakage than
01:53:11ever, whatever, so it it comes down to that as well, it
01:53:15comes down to sheer greed from the water water companies, but again it's
01:53:18not, it's not all, we wouldn't be looking at these pictures now if
01:53:23you the climate could we could still have the same temperatures, we could still have the same lack of rainfall,
01:53:27but if if we were able to water things, if we built enough reservoirs
01:53:30and we we England would not be
01:53:34looking like no like the desert, and what why don't they use drones
01:53:38to see where the leaks are? that's a
01:53:41good, well it's because I mean I don't want water renationalized
01:53:45because the you you can often look at failing companies and think, oh my
01:53:49god, if the government run this country company would obviously better? really
01:53:53is it because governments make short-term or usually terrible
01:53:57infrastructure decisions that are total waste of money, but what we've got
01:54:00wrong is that we haven't got the incentives and the
01:54:04penalties right for the water company, so you just need to tell them if the leakages are high,
01:54:07if sewage is slipping in, if you haven't built you're going to be fined, if you build them you get

01:54:35to you, this is your GB news weather forecast from the Met Office. Whilst there
01:54:39is some thundery rain across parts of Scotland at the moment, most of that will clear
01:54:43through overnight, leaving a fresher, dryer day for many of
01:54:46us tomorrow. We do still have a frontal system making its way across
01:54:50Scotland at the moment, and this is bringing further outbreaks of rain, some
01:54:54could still be heavy and thundery for a little while yet, but through the night
01:54:58we will see the rain in the north breaking up a little bit and so it will
01:55:02be turning dryer all the time across southern areas.
01:55:05it will be dry night with lots of clear sky
01:55:07and with that temperatures are going to be a little bit lower than they have been through some
01:55:11recent nights, mid-teens across some southern areas, some places
01:55:15further north getting into single digits, so we do wake up
01:55:19tomorrow morning to a bit of cloudy start across central and eastern
01:55:22parts of Scotland and there will be some rain but not as much rain
01:55:26as we've seen through recent days and actually western parts of
01:55:29Scotland having some decent sunshine through the morning, a bit of a shory
01:55:33mix of sunny spells, burst of rain for northern Island,
01:55:36cloudier across parts of northern and western England and Wales
01:55:40and few spots of rain can't be ruled out, but central and eastern parts
01:55:44will get off to fine sunny start. now some the cloud in the north will feed
01:55:48a bit further southwards so there will be some cloud at times across southern areas, but there
01:55:51should break up into the afternoon with increasing amounts of sunshine here and
01:55:55further north, well apart from the odd spot of rain it is going to be much dryer
01:55:59than it has been recently, especially by the afternoon, with that though
01:56:03slight change in our wind direction, means especially in the southeast it's going to feel markedly
01:56:07fresher than it has done of late, highs of around 22 or 23
01:56:10celsius. into Friday and w much the UK will be largely
01:56:14dry, just few spots of rain here and there. towards the far northwest there's likely to
01:56:18be some wetter windier weather here, elsewhere, yes, plenty
01:56:22of dry sunny weather to be had,
01:56:24and it's staying mostly dry in the south into the weekend, and here temperatures are
01:56:28set to rise again, good chance we'll get back into the high 20s.
