00:00:22Welcome along all of
00:00:23a Tomorrow's newspaper front pages tonight now with late edition I'm breaking right
00:00:27now open to
00:00:28a discussion about. relationship with the EU in the
00:00:32longer term. All over Tomorrow's newspaper
00:00:35of front page is this. Andy
00:00:37of Burnam of has announced yet another post-brexit reset. The strongest
00:00:40indication yet that Britain is about to get dragged back into the
00:00:44EU. He says he's ready
00:00:45of to sign deal next month.
00:00:49of Surely he's got to go to vote on this. And I asked the
00:00:52in question coming into Downing Street, "Well was there interference in
00:00:56the uh 2016 referendum from Russia," and I've had
00:00:58the clear answer that yes. was: I implied
00:01:02no such thing in my
00:01:04of comments on the rest is politics
00:01:07podcast. Look, is that really true?
00:01:11I
00:01:11of mean, we all heard it, didn't we? He's rode back on his comments after claiming that
00:01:1417.4 million people essentially voted for
00:01:17of Brexit because of Russia. In other news, we will end
00:01:20the asylum system for up to five years.
00:01:24We literally have no idea who
00:01:28of is here, and we frankly. can't afford to
00:01:32take the risk, we're following on from Reform UK announcing
00:01:36total and complete shutdown
00:01:37of the asylum system for five years if they win at the next general election, the Daily
00:01:41Mirror have chimed in, they say horrifying outrage as reform
00:01:44a big wig
00:01:45gemerics as the party would order royal marines to use lethal force
00:01:49against migrants, is he talking about illegal migrants though or is he
00:01:53talking about human
00:01:54of traffickers,
00:01:55of either way, are you in favor of that or not, and they are attacks on our
00:01:59values and our way of
00:02:02of life, so home secretary has announced
00:02:04a review into MP safety, it's made the front page of
00:02:08tomorrow's guardian, that followings the latest developments in the killing
00:02:12of and widockam, and everything is
00:02:15of
00:02:15of free uh, the best when it comes to
00:02:21of benefits, just saying the quiet part
00:02:23of loud now, we i think the times is welfare inquiry that they put on their
00:02:27front
00:02:27of page, of disability benefits for 120, and teenagers cost the
00:02:31taxpayer
00:02:33of 1 billion
00:02:35of of pounds a year, it's an astronomical amount of money, isn't it? and let's be honest, that's just the ones
00:02:39we know
00:02:40a
00:02:43in of about.
00:02:51of well, joining us this evening, got the top team of daily express
00:02:55columist, Carol Malone, journalist and broadcaster Benjamin Butterworth and GB News
00:02:58in contributor and comedian Leo. curse, but first let's get your headlines with
00:03:02Bethany
00:03:06of Elsey.
00:03:06of Patrick, thank
00:03:10you,
00:03:10a good evening, your top stories from the GB News room at two minutes
00:03:14of past 11. The prime minister has told MPs it would be a dereliction of
00:03:18duty to not seek closer ties
00:03:20of to the EU, insisting the current status quo
00:03:23of is not good enough for Britain. The key summit next month, the two sides will seek
00:03:27to sign new
00:03:28of food and drink agreement, a... youth mobility scheme and
00:03:31pact on emissions trading, which the PM hopes could
00:03:35provide a 10 billion pound boost to the economy. addressing the
00:03:39commons, Andy Burnan promised the
00:03:40of British public will be the boss at every stage of
00:03:44of renegotiations. The foreign secretary says Britain
00:03:48of won't tolerate
00:03:49in threats on our soil following last month's suspected terror plot at RAF
00:03:53Fairford. Ed Milaband has summoned Iran's ambassador to the
00:03:57UK and sanctioned two other senior. Iranian
00:04:00officials, the prime minister says the incident at the airbase in
00:04:04Glostershire was highly likely coordinated in
00:04:07Iran and almost certainly
00:04:09of directed by the IRGC. The home
00:04:13secretary Shabana Mahmoud has
00:04:15a announced there'll be an urgent
00:04:17a review
00:04:17of the security provided to MPs and other public
00:04:21figures following the death of Ann Widdicam. Police support will be
00:04:25expanded to include leaders of political parties who aren't
00:04:28MPs as as well as peers, former MPs and
00:04:32former members of devolved parliaments. vote
00:04:36of no confidence in Northern Ireland's first minister and three other shin
00:04:40ministers has been dismissed. they've all
00:04:44of faced
00:04:45of of criticism over their handling
00:04:46of the orange order parade. the march was given permission to go ahead for
00:04:50the first time in nearly 30 years, but
00:04:52of after fierce
00:04:53of protests of was canceled due
00:04:55of to fears it couldn't be safely policed.
00:04:58residents on the Falkland Islands have invited the US president to
00:05:02of visit to see for himself how proudly British they are. In
00:05:06recent weeks, Donald Trump has seemed less than supportive of Britain's claim over
00:05:10the Falklands. Meanwhile, the... an president Xavier Melé,
00:05:14key ally of Trump, has threatened legal action in
00:05:17international courts over the island's sovereignty. GB News's home
00:05:21and security editor Mark White spoke to legislative assembly
00:05:25acting chair Stacy Bragger. Of course, yeah, we'd welcome anyone,
00:05:29and um, no, I think um, we have lot in common with America, in terms of our
00:05:32self-determination and wanting to be able
00:05:34to decide your own future, so I think we got a lot common in that way, um, a couple
00:05:38comments be made by the president, but um, Secretary Rubio confirmed.
00:05:43that the American position hasn't changed, so from our point of view there's been no change
00:05:47to to their stance. The invitation is there th, if Donald Trump wants to come
00:05:50here, yeah, of course, yeah, and Breaking bad actor
00:05:54RJ Mitter has died at the age of 34, he played the
00:05:58son of Brian Cranston's drug dealing character, Walter
00:06:02White in the drama, his representative has described him as a beloved
00:06:06actor, philanthropist and passionate disability rights
00:06:10advocate. see your latest headlines, have very good
00:06:14evening.
00:06:20okay, welcome along to later edition, let me get with you all of tuesday's newspaper
00:06:23front pages and we'll discuss so the eye paper, burnam ready to sign
00:06:27new EU deal next month as he attacks Brexit
00:06:31damage, the Metro, we'd be ready to fight tonight, that's NATO's warning to
00:06:35Russia or I think anyone he wants it really, the sun homes
00:06:38under the shamers, this is another Manchester City story, it's not going... away
00:06:42all of this obviously, fury at prem cheats, they say city help
00:06:46flog pads in the gulf, apparently earling harland has got a fantastic
00:06:50home somewhere in the gulf, so uh there you go, mean i think
00:06:53look the second you scratch the surface with this kind of money from that kind of
00:06:57region you find stuff like that don't you? the daily mail, burnham in retreat
00:07:01over russia brexit lies, we played you a couple of clips on that earlier on strongly
00:07:05implied anyway that was certainly my takeaway from it and i think most people's which
00:07:09is that he basically alluded to the idea that that russia swade.
00:07:12Brexit referendum, now he's gone full reverse ferit on that, the
00:07:16daily mirror, horrifying, outrageous reform big wig gemerick says
00:07:20that the party would order the royal marines to use lethal force against
00:07:24migrants, we're going to discuss this, it follows a bit from something that's
00:07:28the usuff has said, usuf I think was more specifically talking about about human
00:07:32traffickers, um, I mean how how would you feel about the idea the
00:07:36roll marines being told to use lethal force in the channel, the guardian
00:07:39PM says that Britain's relationship with the EU is not good. enough, the
00:07:43independent, burnham says he'll let voters decide to rejoin Europe.
00:07:46That this is a,
00:07:47this is very, very vague development here now, unless I'm
00:07:51missing something, which wouldn't be for the first time, how are you going to do it? Is it going to be a general
00:07:55election,
00:07:55is it going to be another referendum? It's keeping stum on this at the minute, the times, cut
00:07:59screen time in class for the sake of people's health, but the the big one at the top
00:08:03the front page there is the disability benefits for 120,000
00:08:07teenagers a costing taxpayers 1 billion pounds a year. I'm hoping there's someone
00:08:11who's much better. last than I might be able to work out exactly what that equates
00:08:15to per disabled teenager, but certainly lot of money isn't
00:08:19it? per year as well, let's focus on on what's
00:08:22what's what what's doing the rounds across multiple different front pages, if we bring up the daily express,
00:08:26deriction of duty, bid to betray brexit vote,
00:08:30the express go for furious, prime minister confirms he will seek closer
00:08:34ties with the European Union and this idea that he
00:08:37seems like he's he's he's ready to to sign deal. okay,
00:08:41firstly carry. does he have a mandate to be
00:08:45renegotiating any kind of he has no mandate at all, this
00:08:49is a man who got you 20,00 votes in
00:08:52makerfield a time of which he was campaigning and talking
00:08:56about rejoining the EU and said he wasn't going to Brexit is done he said
00:09:00at the time and you know he he said that a constituency that voted leave
00:09:03a big make feel was a big vote leave constituency so he's lied to those
00:09:07people and he's lied to the rest of us because time and again he has said Brexit is
00:09:11done we're not going to back there and here he is talking about going back there and
00:09:15it's it's not a der he says it's a dereliction of
00:09:18duty um to to to to to betray
00:09:22Brexit his duty is to respect the biggest
00:09:26democratic vote this country has ever had 33.6
00:09:30million people voted of and and and and and the final result
00:09:331 million people more voted to actually leave um
00:09:37does that ever expire um no it doesn't expire and why should it expire how can you
00:09:41possibly say that? you must have a communist regime so what people vote for something once
00:09:45you the biggest vote for prime minister was
00:09:49furious question like that so when when people vote for labor when they voted for them
00:09:53two and a half years ago does that vote expire don't do very
00:09:55well it hasn't general
00:09:59election yeah every
00:10:04kind you the might point get one that's by law but no we well you think we get sorry one
00:10:05i but think think that that's is literally the point that that we're making
00:10:08it no sorry but is the so but it says
00:10:12here on burn and ready to sign new EU
00:10:16deal next month, so he's not putting it to the public again, is it? he's just
00:10:20signing it, he says he promised a serious dialogue with who, who's going to have the
00:10:24dialogue with cuz it's no? asked. I mean even at party conference, he was
00:10:27talking about this in the longer term, he was talking about this at the next general
00:10:31election, all that. This says is ready to sign deal next
00:10:35month. Well, fingers crossed. I think that,
00:10:37you know, I don't think that we should have new referendum, I don't think we should rejoin the
00:10:41EU. Uh, those would throw far more questions than answers, but
00:10:45his responsibility, any government's responsibility, is to deliver what we've
00:10:49not had for 10 years, and that's economic growth. You're
00:10:52talking rubbish against, stop
00:10:54saying that. Britain has had more economic growth than the top five countries in
00:10:58the EU, stop saying that, I'm glad you're doing fabulously, but I think most people
00:11:02would say doing fabulously, it's not that,
00:11:06don't say we've had no economic growth, we have
00:11:08had more than Italy, we have
00:11:12had more than Germany, the only person the only country that's had
00:11:16more than us is France, and that's by a half a percent, stop saying there's been no
00:11:20growth, do you know how much trade we do with the EU, what percentage
00:11:23it is, do you know how much?
00:11:33do you know how much trade we do with Japan with the Gulf states how much
00:11:36we do
00:11:37you don't Mongolia we could go on forever the fact is that when it comes to the EU
00:11:41which is the actual question that Andy Bernam is putting forward
00:11:4441% of our trade is with the EU
00:11:48block it's 380 billion pounds a year now the fact
00:11:52is there is far more opportunity for growth with the r countries on
00:11:55earth right next to us and we have put barriers in the way okay,
00:11:59well so so so just just bring you up on this, i actually kind of almost want to zoom out a little
00:12:03bit here and talk about the absolute utter betrayal by the
00:12:07establishment on brexit right from the start, cameron cameron went
00:12:11immediately as did Osborne, then incomes Theresa May and Avid Romaina
00:12:14who never believed in the thing with the party where I think it was 56% of her own
00:12:18MPs in a parliament where 75% of all MPs
00:12:22voted to remain in the European Union. didn't manage to get
00:12:26any kind of deal, Boris comes in, gets something resembling
00:12:29deal and then uses that as an opportunity to import load of people from
00:12:33India really and Pakistan and places like that,
00:12:37and and we've not taken, they never, the establishment never wanted it to
00:12:40work, and the culmination of that is that you end up with a bloke who has been
00:12:44elected by 0.036% the population, who is doing
00:12:47everything to get as close to rejoining as possible, so that
00:12:51probably in about 10 years time we just rejoin fully, yeah we
00:12:55will
00:12:55do it'll be death by a thousand cuts, but I've got to say, I've got to say the the sort the
00:12:59impatis and the argument to to stay away from Europe would be stronger
00:13:03if the architects, the flagwavers for Brexit hadn't absolutely
00:13:07thrown everybody who voted for Brexit under the bus, the bus that had
00:13:11320 million written on the side of it, like Boris Johnson, Boris Johnson
00:13:14was was on that bus cheering saying vote Brexit, we'll take back control of our
00:13:18borders, what's the what's the first thing he does, opens the borders to to
00:13:22millions of people and not not culturally similar. not not
00:13:25Spanish, French, Polish, Germans, these are people from
00:13:29far-flung, distant, alien, medieval
00:13:33places that are obviously letting millions of people in like that is going
00:13:37to cause huge amounts of social friction and huge amounts of
00:13:40economic problems, so I mean I think pragmatically we kind of
00:13:44need to be a bit closer to Europe economically, I don't think that means we
00:13:48have to give up our sovereignty or or control of our borders,
00:13:52but the the economics the situation makes sense. we we join
00:13:56in any way shape or form, all the trade deals that we have done since
00:13:59we left the EU, we'd have to scrub, and we've done some stunking trade deals since
00:14:03we left money, why don't you
00:14:07say we're not going to scrap them, why don't we, why don't we
00:14:09out like Britain,
00:14:10we should like Britain gutless
00:14:13acted like and 200 who
00:14:14years will not say he's already crawling on his belly now and saying that he
00:14:18want this is how we want to get in, he's saying this is what's going to happen, he will be
00:14:22told what he has to do, because that is that is Andy b, if
00:14:24it was another leader, if it was a Farage or a kemy banock, they might not take
00:14:28orders from the EU, but Andy Burnon will. I think it's quite disingenuous for him to say that
00:14:32we that we need to rejoin the EU or do whatever we're doing with the
00:14:36EU, now to sort out illegal immigration, so he's he's talking
00:14:40about it,
00:14:40we need it for the economy, all right, you can say there's some kind of economic case for it, you can
00:14:44say
00:14:44that there's actually economic case for going further deeper into Brexit
00:14:48and and
00:14:49and and maximizing our opportunities elsewhere in the world, which we seemed unwilling to do, so you can
00:14:53make the economic case for both sides, but illegal immigration thing I find super
00:14:57disingenuous, we are now sovereign country completely, we
00:15:01could do what we want, the solution to stopping illegal
00:15:04immigration is not to enter into a quota system with the European Union,
00:15:08because all that takes is for one these countries to have some absolutely
00:15:12mental policy like Spain with the amnesty,
00:15:16and we're now on the hook for all of this stuff as well, part
00:15:20the reason that we have problems with immigration now is is because because
00:15:24of you, because we've... and because they can't control their own borders because lot the
00:15:27people we're getting are people that are coming through their b
00:15:30the eu started again started this she threw
00:15:33arms syria and now it's like oh how do...
00:15:37the migrant crisis, well you started the EU started the migrant crisis, it's not a
00:15:41mystery, but the the smears though, Benjamin, the
00:15:44smears about you, this Russia game, I mean he's on the front the the the
00:15:48daily mail tomorrow, burnham in retreat over Russia Brexit lives, we
00:15:52played the clip earlier on, he went on the Russiis politics and and look,
00:15:56most people take away from what he said there, in fact the Russi's politics tweeted
00:15:59words to this effect, Andy Burnan becomes the first prime minister to
00:16:03confirm that Russia will try to infiltrate or whatever it was that the...
00:16:07the EU referendum,
00:16:09you know, and now he's on the back foot over that, he's coming out trying to clear up go, well, didn't
00:16:13mean they swayed it, I didn't
00:16:15mean it had material, material impact, but the inference here is that
00:16:19anyone who really back brexit or or like Nigel Farage or any
00:16:23these people, they are agents for the Kremlin, and this is what he's trying to
00:16:27get out there, isn't it? no, he is saying that he has learned as prime
00:16:30minister, there is evidence that they tried to interfere in our democratic process,
00:16:34now I think it would be absurdly naive to... think that Russia,
00:16:38which we know, spends 1 and a half billion pounds a year on
00:16:42interfering other democracies through things like fake bots on the
00:16:45internet to sway opinion and sense of opinion, it would be ridiculous to think that they
00:16:49hadn't tried that and that they weren't trying to interfere with our democracy. now Andy
00:16:53Burnham also said in that interview, no, he doesn't think it
00:16:56decided the result, he was clear about that, but I have
00:17:00to be skeptical, I have to ask people like you, you to that
00:17:03advocate for your fantasy, your failed fantasy. of
00:17:07brexit, why is it that you're so reluctant to listen to people in
00:17:11positions of authority telling you that Russia was trying to sway the result? why are you so
00:17:15sympathetic to these people? I'm not, who says I'm sympathetic to them, but you you
00:17:19got reaction is to defend because our
00:17:23prime minister said categorically that the Russians
00:17:26interfered with the Brexit vote, so he was trying to provide any
00:17:30evidence and didn't provide, but but was try to suggest that all of us were
00:17:34influenced by Russian bot to votely absolutely. and then
00:17:38within 24 hours when his advises at number 10 and says he
00:17:41should have said that god you can't say that he came back and tried to pretend he hadn't
00:17:45meant that the leader of reform UK in Wales
00:17:49has been convicted after the brexit referendum yes but that is prime evidence
00:17:53the fact that they try to interfere and that they do it directly and
00:17:57indirectly i absolutely 100%
00:18:00agree that any nafarious power whether it's China or Russia or anyone who
00:18:04doesn't like us is desperately I mean I think that's china,
00:18:08I mean Russia for example, has huge hand to play in the illegal migrant crisis, China
00:18:12does, China supplies lot the bows, the Russian with their vagner forces helped
00:18:16at certainly one point anyway, to move literally millions of Africans
00:18:19through the continent of Africa into Libya and then across the Mediterranean, we know
00:18:23all of this stuff, the only thing I will say is do we not think that we do try to influence the
00:18:27results of elections elsew, I mean we fought wars in the Middle East to try to influence
00:18:31the entire entire countries over there, we
00:18:35also to much lesser extent admittedly. but we we sent labour staffers over there
00:18:39to go and campaign for com to campaign for Donald Trump, exactly, but
00:18:43this is my point, it happened, but you never mentioned that, you always go on about 100 random
00:18:47labor party members, farage literally goes over and gives speeches, he
00:18:51wasn't even going to run for our parliament so that he could campaign for the US
00:18:54presidents actually might have interfered in the the result the general
00:18:58election two and a half years ago, i'm sure they
00:18:59did, i'm sure they
00:19:03did that if the russians are picking a party it would be
00:19:07so we should now, so we should now say, okay, we think the Russians interfare the general
00:19:11election, so labor shouldn't be in power, let's have another vote, I mean there is Carol, I don't know which
00:19:15bit of democracy you don't get, we have new vote every couple of years, that's how it
00:19:19works, you seem to think there's a unique exemption
00:19:22exemption for brexit, there shouldn't be, there should be the right to change
00:19:26our mind, there should be the right to chall after poll
00:19:30shows if no, it doesn't, 30% of people think breaks it went
00:19:33well, hello, says 50%
00:19:37really right, keep on talking seen over how
00:19:41that much i've it annoys you definitely vote leave, but this is, but this is the other interest,
00:19:45so so the independence from page, yeah, they go, burnham, i'll let
00:19:48voters decide to rejoin Europe, he says he'll use the brussel summit next month to push for
00:19:52reset, promises the public will be the boss, so that's got to be some kind of
00:19:56referendum, it's got to be the election, but if to to tires in with
00:20:00what he's saying, be saying was all about the russians and stuff, the the follow up the what he said on the
00:20:04rest politics, if you was trying
00:20:06to wish a warning to the people of Germany and the people of France, Germany's on the
00:20:10cusp of potentially electing the AFD, France is potentially on the cusp of electing Marine
00:20:14Lepen, obviously France was a leading figure, not the
00:20:18but a leading figure in the Brexit, and what he's trying to do there is basically
00:20:21say to buy into this argument that if you are anti-establishment or you are
00:20:25right-wing in Europe, you are an, you
00:20:29are an agent the creamlin, that is what he's trying to say, and
00:20:33it is, it is smear, yeah, although there is there is some evidence.
00:20:37for
00:20:37it with the the AFD are more you know Russia leaning than than other
00:20:41German parties, I think they've they've uh they've proposed
00:20:45you know suspending aid to to Ukraine and Marine Lepen I know like once
00:20:49people get in to power um like like Georgia Malone, they they tend to sort
00:20:53of moderate their views, but Marine Lepen in the past has been
00:20:57you know cosier with - with Putin, but what I don't understand is is
00:21:00why
00:21:01you know Benjamin says well reform would be the party that Russia that
00:21:04Putin would support, Tys, Richard Tyce has has taken
00:21:08aid, he's driven vehicles to Ukraine
00:21:12to what what crap argument,
00:21:14Richard Ty
00:21:18Richard Tyce is on record. repeatedly defending the fact that Ukraine
00:21:22should give Russia some of its land, that's no wonder they'd support Richard
00:21:26Tyce. Richard Tys has taken aid to
00:21:29Ukraine
00:21:31to to to give to Ukraine to help them
00:21:34in the fight against Russia, this idea that reform
00:21:38is somehow in the pocket of
00:21:40Putin.
00:21:44They would ban women fleeing Ukraine from coming to Britain, they would die at the
00:21:48hands of Russians back home potentially.
00:22:00go back on holiday to Ukraine, I'm not saying it's a nice thing, I'm saying I'm
00:22:03not saying there's no risk attached to it right, but what I am saying is that there are plenty of other
00:22:07avenues as well that they can take, they don't have to come and permanently settle in none
00:22:11eaten, and there'll be there'll be an exemption for attractive women, don't
00:22:14worry, okay, and there you go, right, okay, well there we are, um,
00:22:18but anyway, this is I think.
00:22:20we'll "We've managed to perfectly encapsulatate the multitude of different stories going on about the
00:22:23EU and Brexit, what Andy Burnham's have got to
00:22:26plan, wait and see. coming up in just moment. We will
00:22:30end the asylum system for up to five years. We
00:22:33literally have no idea who is here, and
00:22:37we frankly can't afford
00:22:41to take the risk. Well, reform UK has announced that total and complete
00:22:44shutdown the asylum system for five years if they win at the next general
00:22:48election, but the mirror..." their front page has teed off on Robert
00:22:52Jemrick for comments about using lethal force to stop the
00:22:56migrant crisis, would you be in favor of that? that's
00:22:59next.

00:26:11Okay, welcome along. We'll bring up the mirrors front page, which is
00:26:15horrifying, outrages reform, Big Wig Jemeric says party would order royal
00:26:18marines to use lethal force against migrants. Let's
00:26:22take a listen to what he actually said, here is the
00:26:25clip. Oh, okay, the clip is coming shortly, don't
00:26:29worry. Uh, but yes, Robert Gemerick has said that if Nadal frage becomes...
00:26:32p.m. the marines will be able to use lethal force to stop the
00:26:36small boats. here it is. what we are going to do and we're the only political
00:26:40party that has the courage to say this is deploy the raw
00:26:44marines into the channel. if they need to use lethal force then they'll
00:26:48be able to do so. that's obviously not our uh, that's not what we want to
00:26:52see happen. we want to see these individuals picked up off the boats a
00:26:55uh you
00:26:56know sensible and reasonable way and taken straight back to
00:26:58france. right now my underst.
00:27:02of that is that he was echoing remarks that were made by Zia Yusuf
00:27:06which was directed about lethal force towards the human
00:27:10trafficers and the people smugglers yeah now by the way some people might still think that's
00:27:14i mean i don't think that's impalitable to uh be
00:27:17willing to use lethal force that goes to human trafficker personally but some people
00:27:21still might think that's be on the pale i don't know i don't think
00:27:25as the mirror front page makes out he is saying he would
00:27:29just take a machine gun to boat of illegal the English
00:27:33Channel, yeah, I was quite disappointed when I when I found out that
00:27:35that wasn't the plan, but we've seen this, we've seen this, is obviously a joke, we've
00:27:39seen this else where in Europe Greece has used live fire, Greece
00:27:43has has used swamping where they use their their big boats, Greece
00:27:47actually uses its border force boats to stop the migrants
00:27:51instead of helping them get a shore, it's incredible concept, might catch on,
00:27:55or we could deploy NHS receptionists to the English channel, they'll
00:27:58stop anybody getting in, they'll just be shooting the ball, you're supposed to...
00:28:02call between 8 a.m. and 8:01 a.m. you can't just rock
00:28:06up uh so i don't know think i think this idea
00:28:10that uh i don't think royal marines will be keen to
00:28:13use um live ammo on on uh on people
00:28:17smugglers given that the next government will probably then prosecute them for
00:28:21doing that because we're seeing we're seeing servicemen and service women getting
00:28:25prosecuted now for for well they have they'd have to have a law on absolute
00:28:29castiron immunity which you don't know how practical that is.
00:28:32'I do think that there are members the all marines
00:28:36who would be more
00:28:37than willing
00:28:39to slot to pick off human traffickers whether it's on the beaches of
00:28:43Cal or whether it's
00:28:44or or whether it's in the boat.
00:28:45I don't think it's a good look,
00:28:47I don't think we should be shooting mid-channel, but I do think exactly what Leo says
00:28:51our border force, what would be revolutionary and and very controversial
00:28:54as if the border force stop the boats and send them back, that that
00:28:58would be the best solution, then nobody dies, you just gets sent back to France, but it's
00:29:03are our government and I said it earlier in the program, they seem to feel the controlling air
00:29:07borders is a morally repugnant concept, they don't think that at all, yes they
00:29:10do, well why aren't they controlling the borders cuz they're not, they are the numbers are
00:29:14down, you keep on these numbers are
00:29:17down, do you not think if they deported as many people say they
00:29:21had that be having photographs of people getting on planes the be showing us,
00:29:24they have no they have not, the biggest ever deportation flight took
00:29:28part took place under labor, leo, i have good news, when when when?
00:29:3218 months ago, no, you're this is, you're just making this up, we literally
00:29:35did it as a debate on this show, uh, I have good news, Andy
00:29:39burnam's mom was a GP receptionist by Korea, so uh,
00:29:43he's got it in the blood, good at,
00:29:45good at dealing with people, so I just just need to
00:29:48point out that the actual percentage of small boat migrants
00:29:52being deported does not appear to have risen, so it's it's an average of
00:29:564.3%, I think it is, of smallbat China
00:30:00migrants have crossed the have been. have been successfully
00:30:04deported, well the number that's coming in is falling, the number that's being
00:30:07accepted
00:30:11uh lots of good news, i don't think that's funny how the perception is it's not
00:30:15good news, the funny is the funny thing is people like you spin it, think we have
00:30:191700 last week, yes exactly, yeah was that good is that
00:30:23reduction week before that it was the same thing, the perception in the
00:30:26country in the communities around this country, they're now protesting in the streets
00:30:30everywhere because the... but the mars are getting put into their community
00:30:34so to them,
00:30:36i don't think to go to the story we meant to be discussing, taking a gun and shooting vulnerable people in
00:30:40the channel is a wise idea, no
00:30:44we could not, leo, he's joking, but the rest of us have said that we
00:30:48don't you have to cav at it, look the fact is, there is
00:30:52danger, the idea that the state, that any arm the state could have a right, even
00:30:56the people smuggers who are the evil behind this to just
00:30:59without trial or identific. or
00:31:02certainty to just shoot someone is obviously not a line the state
00:31:06should cross, and I would suggest if they're close enough and confirmable
00:31:10enough that they are a people smuggler, then there are probably ways to deal with
00:31:14them other than... shooting, you're talking, but you're talking tosh
00:31:18because he's identified people smuggles on this show, he's given the details
00:31:22to the cops, that is what should happen, not to
00:31:26murder them in cold blood, and also you'd be asking -
00:31:30you know people in our armed forces to go and kill these people or seriously wound
00:31:33them, that could then turn out to be a mistake, and they took the orders, it is wrong on
00:31:37every, these people smugglers, these lovely people smugglers who don't
00:31:41who don't get people killed in the channel't
00:31:44help to chuck. babies out of boats, all of that, these wonderful people evil, but I
00:31:48don't think that you should be shooting people dead without assessment, right? that's not
00:31:52how we behave as Britain, and that's not what we make our armed forces do in
00:31:56France or in Britain. for once, I'm I'm sort of two-thirds agreeing with you, I don't
00:32:00think we should be sureing people in the channel, but I do think we should be stopping them in the
00:32:04channel and taking them back to friends, and in recent last three months 16
00:32:07people were convicted for people smuggling, so that is happening, thank
00:32:11goodness, yes, but then the problem with that is that they end up serving prison in this country. and st
00:32:15three months in jail
00:32:17yeah that's it's like oh we caught one them he's do it few years in
00:32:21prison and then we just give my house we got a new british person then we
00:32:24got eligible for a passport now so that's great isn't it's so
00:32:28it's like yeah great all right well identify what we what are we doing with the uh yeah all
00:32:32right well mean that's that's that's that's the mirrors front page there for you um
00:32:36look coming up we are going to be discussing
00:32:38this is everything is
00:32:41free uh the best when comes
00:32:45to benefits,
00:32:49cosmic, so uh, yes, that's a lady who says the best thing about Britain is of
00:32:53course the benefit, but the Times is welfare inquiry continues and is
00:32:56revealed that disability benefits for 1, sorry,
00:33:00120,000 teenagers costs the British tax
00:33:03payer 1 billion pounds a
00:33:07year, how can that be the case, and that is just the ones that are zoned in on here, it's
00:33:11staggering number, we'll discuss that when we come back.

00:36:24All right, welcome back. Let's bring up the Times's front page. for
00:36:28tomorrow, which is of course Tuesday, they go for disability benefits for
00:36:32120,000 teenagers, cost the tax payer 1 billion pounds
00:36:36a year, there's an ongoing thing happening now in British media really, which is seems to be a big
00:36:40big big focus on benefits rightly so um
00:36:43and where people maybe are
00:36:46overclaiming and where there's some some potential waste, it's
00:36:49obviously not to say that um everyone
00:36:52on benefits is some kind of benefits cheat or anything like that, it's not what I'm saying, but this this one billion
00:36:56pounds figure divided by ' works out about
00:36:59800 sorry 8,333 quid - a
00:37:03month uh per person uh which
00:37:06is uh six sorry
00:37:09per year sorry i should say which is 694 pounds a
00:37:13month per person um so that's
00:37:17quite a lot isn't it mean the thing is suppose it depends how
00:37:20disabled you are doesn't it well if it's the're talking here the're saying it's
00:37:24about kids with autism and HD conditions and
00:37:28mild depression and so you okay, you get 694 quid
00:37:32on, but how does that help your condition? it doesn't at all, what you should be getting is
00:37:35help, not cash, and and the point is, you get given it, and what do
00:37:39you do with the kids who have got these conditions, they sit at home all day doing what, not
00:37:43mixing, becoming socially isolated, no one's getting any help, there are
00:37:47forms, there are forms of autism where I can see obviously
00:37:51look and I'm just sure we're all agree with that, you can't work at all, but there are lots where
00:37:55you can, yeah, yes, yes, exactly. many people, many people on the
00:37:58station have forms of autism, and and they they do a brilliant
00:38:02job, yeah, in every workplace, in every workplace there
00:38:06is absolutely, and and but ADHD, and I think this is the thing as
00:38:10well, the mild depression aspects of it, yeah, I've I'm very
00:38:14sympathetic towards,
00:38:17it was such an car, such random commenting anyone everyone
00:38:21in every, there are people in every workplace got a form of autism, it's not, it's not a big
00:38:24deal, but um, but look, with with the
00:38:27with the... ADHD thing in the
00:38:28and the kind of mild depression, whilst I am sympathetic towards these people, I'm
00:38:32sorry, I don't think tossing 695
00:38:36quid a month at them
00:38:38is right, also it's incentivizing people to have those conditions to go and
00:38:42get diagnosed with ADHD or autism or whatever, I've
00:38:45got i've got a lot of, I
00:38:46mean it seems to be fad a trend amongst comedians to to get
00:38:50yourself diagnosed with autism or ADHD so you've got something to write a show
00:38:54about so you're not just like some boring white guy you've got
00:38:57like a thing. that makes you victim and I've got friends who've got themselves
00:39:00diagnosed privately with ADHD and they then get the
00:39:04prescription medication from the NHS which
00:39:07is I mean spade it's yeah essentially it's drugs you
00:39:11know it's it's quite it's quite it's quite powerful stuff
00:39:14so I think if you put tax on ADHD and
00:39:18autism instead of giving people money to have it
00:39:22then people would suddenly stop having it. I suppose it ties a bit
00:39:25Benjamin with with the fact that we
00:39:27did a story earlier on in my previous show, which is that there are about two million people currently
00:39:31on on some form of welfare benefit for disabilities who have just not been
00:39:34checked like since COVID, see whether or not they've even still got these disabilities,
00:39:38one block
00:39:39has been waiting 16 years, I mean um is clung
00:39:42on, but you this is this is the thing which I think when people see these
00:39:46headlines they have a right to think that actually there's a lot of fraud going on here,
00:39:50well you know one the problems of COVID is that people were checked without having
00:39:53in-person consultation which made it easier to exploit. the
00:39:57system and then they have just been on, repeat prescriptions
00:40:01essentially, repeat payments for years and so obviously that's a flaw. i think
00:40:05logistically the problem is hiring the people in the time to get
00:40:08round such a scale, but i was just going to add sorry that you some with
00:40:12autism or depression clear that can be serious enough that you
00:40:15need help, but i do think this is completely wrong, the number of people claiming pip
00:40:19is unsustainable and it means you don't have the money for people that need it when
00:40:23it's out of control, and then also
00:40:26you know if someone's depressed. and they're not going to work and they're not making social
00:40:29connection, they're going to stay depressed,
00:40:32there was a pole recently
00:40:34of of gps, hundreds of gps who were asked about giving
00:40:37you sign off notes
00:40:39to to to kids with all these things, to people with all these conditions, and they all said they had
00:40:43never refused sick note to anyone,
00:40:46i think
00:40:46it was 72, i think
00:40:47it was 72% of gps and you can see why because they they're covering their
00:40:51backsides in case the one person does comes to them and does something
00:40:55terrible, but you can't you can't have that. got thousands of people shouldn't be
00:40:59on, should i sort of also just just clarify that ADHD medication is not
00:41:03literally street speed, yeah there is a there is slight difference
00:41:07um which my producer seems to lot about um uh yes this
00:41:10is it's obviously a more pharmaceutical grade and is therefore significantly
00:41:14safer on that note uh let's go stateside
00:41:18now for - late the late show live which
00:41:22is uh hosted from midnight until 3:00 am by our wonderful tom harword
00:41:26tom fantastic to see in the hot sea over there,
00:41:28I hope you're settling in nicely. What's on your agenda this
00:41:31evening? Patrick, before I told you about the show, I
00:41:35thought I would just want to say a big thank you to your wife, Emily, because she's helped me settle in
00:41:39here, she brought. me some everyday tea and even
00:41:43um and even some marmites, which I'm sure we're allowed to say the brand name of, so I'm
00:41:46feeling right at home here in Washington DC with some the best of
00:41:50British, but lots coming up on the show today, we're of course
00:41:54going to be talking not just about that new story in the times the
00:41:58disability benefits you've been discussing, but frankly the amount that has been spent on
00:42:02working age benefits in total over the last 20
00:42:05years, it's a trillion pounds, yes I said trillion, not
00:42:08billion, a...
00:42:10astonishing had out this million more pounds more than we've spent on infrastructure like
00:42:16money uh roads, railways or even housing. I mean it's an that extraordinary we're spending on benefits rather than the long-lasting
00:42:20pro-gowth stuff that might actually affect the country. Also
00:42:2429 we've country statement from the uh foreign
00:42:28secretaries the United States, Canada, France,
00:42:31Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, lots of countries
00:42:35all coming together to say yes, we agree with the United Kingdom's
00:42:38assessment that it was the IRGC that it was Iran most
00:42:42likely behind the Fairford incident, huge show of
00:42:46international support there for that statement. What does that mean for our
00:42:49security in all these countries, quite frankly, if the
00:42:53IRGC is willing to operate well outside the immediate
00:42:57theater the Iran war. We're also this evening going to be speaking about
00:43:01the budget, because there's a massive black hole, 35 billion pounds that the
00:43:05chancellor now seems to have to find. It's extraordinary that every
00:43:08single budget is either... more spending cuts or more tax, take us back to
00:43:12the ages when actually budgets were moment of giveaway rather than
00:43:16take back, but ultimately there is so much more to discuss and we'll be
00:43:20diving into it all here on the late show live. i should also say the new
00:43:24press secretary for the white house, remember Caroline Levit, she left the White
00:43:28House over the summer, well now Katie Zachariah, she's got a first
00:43:32press briefing tomorrow, it should be a storming one.
00:43:35fantastic, tom, electric stuff, thank you very, very much, Tom Harword
00:43:39there. he'll be taking the reigns for the late show live from midnight
00:43:43until 3 am and yeah, mean look the elephant in the room there
00:43:46when it comes to the fact that he's 29 countries have all signed a thing to say that they believe that the
00:43:50Iranian regime was behind - what w not rafford is
00:43:53you know what is milliban going to do all about this mean supposedly he
00:43:56some the Iranian ambassador and previously was shaking hands with the Iranian
00:44:00foreign minister the UN thing wasn't it oh don't you don't do
00:44:04anything to us all they mugged him right off by the looks of things didn't they but anyway we'll be talking
00:44:08about uh yeah something very very important when we come back this: they are attacks
00:44:12on our values and our way of life. so this happened in the
00:44:16house of commons today, it's made the guardians front page, home secretary shabana mahmoed has announced review
00:44:20into mp's safety following the latest developments after the
00:44:24killing of am Widdiker. last

00:48:26'Okay, welcome back. The final newspaper we're going to cover this evening is the
00:48:30Guardian, and they've got a big story about what Mahmoud said in the House of Commons
00:48:33earlier about MP's safety and security. It's going to be
00:48:37review. Look, what level of security do we realistically
00:48:41think that MPS should get? Should it be constant close
00:48:44protection for all 650 them? So what should it be? What
00:48:48should it look like? Well,
00:48:50you know, we've got to look at the parties and the people.' the MPs that actually get the abuse
00:48:54and lot them happen to be reform people and so
00:48:57so you know and and a long time ago last year Farage asked the
00:49:01government to look at his security and he asked for
00:49:04it to be funded and it was just they were taking notice them
00:49:07none at all and now suddenly someone has been murdered and
00:49:11now they're taking notice it's a little bit late frankly you know
00:49:15farage gets since February this year he has had
00:49:191,700 threats nearly 600 of those ' credible death
00:49:23threat, so people like him would obviously require
00:49:27more security, so you would do a so what you're saying, i think is you do it a case by
00:49:30case basis i think so, yes i think so, someone someone who's below
00:49:33the radar probably doesn't need 24-hour protection, somebody like
00:49:37farage does, so to have 24 hour protection you basically need a team of six
00:49:41people which is incredibly expensive and we don't have the police
00:49:45resource, you don't need a team of six people for 24 hour protection,
00:49:49you need a team of two maybe for someone like faroj?
00:49:52the note Faris turned down a team of six people because he said it wasn't
00:49:56anything like enough um but look one the problems is that
00:50:00you know joe Cox and David Amos who were brutally
00:50:03murdered most most people had never heard them so
00:50:07I mean David Amos had been around for a while Joe Cox was brand new to parliament was very
00:50:11low profile and yet she was targeted and so well I don't think that it's
00:50:15practical to have this for every MP actually the problem is that any
00:50:19MP is victim of this or people outside. certain
00:50:22practical things you can do, so MP surgeries, yeah, you could
00:50:26have basically a something level up from bouncer on the
00:50:30door, well they do, some i was talking the weekend and
00:50:34they have security guard outside the door their surgery and
00:50:38so anyone who comes into the surgery is is frisked and that's brand
00:50:41new, that's in the last year,
00:50:43i know
00:50:44so you can do that, you can have
00:50:46i don't panic alarms in your home, you there's the
00:50:50things you can do without having close
00:50:53protection all the time, but
00:50:55then i suppose some mps do need that. what what would
00:50:59you? what is the what is going to be the outcome of this review? what do we do? well, i
00:51:03think it's a it's a real problem and not just for MPs but for for everybody, and
00:51:07if you look at where the threat is coming from, it's coming from the far left,
00:51:11the far right, and it's coming from islamism. uh, so you
00:51:14know, joe cox was was killed by somebody from the far right, uh, David Amos by
00:51:18an islamist, and then we've seen more, more recently the the far
00:51:21left. so there's been a huge amount of work done by the government by the
00:51:25authorities to to clamp down on the fire right, make sure nobody's reading any
00:51:29Douglas Murray books or anything like that, anybody who does that gets referred to prevent
00:51:33if you so much as look a constable painting or or enjoy lord the
00:51:36rings, but there's been very little work done on the
00:51:40far left who from my experience are far
00:51:43more, far more violent and far more almost
00:51:47self-righteous, so so
00:51:49that so I suppose that then is is that we are treating the... some not the
00:51:53cause if you gave if you gave MPs 24 hour
00:51:56protection all that stuff you're not necess you're preventing them maybe being you
00:52:00know murdered which is a good thing but then you are not actually
00:52:04maybe jumpping down on the ideologies behind it, even the guardian that
00:52:08reports on this, if you read any copy the guardian, there will be dog whistles to
00:52:12the far left in there that you know, i'm not saying that it it
00:52:16causes, it's almost this sort of stocastic terrorism, it
00:52:20creates an environment where people feel it's acceptable to to do
00:52:24horrible violent things okay, well well there you go um right, look we uh going to give
00:52:28you the round up tomorrow papers before we hand you over to america the ipaper burn and ready to
00:52:31sign new EU deal next month the metro we be to fight
00:52:35tonight, says NATO, the sun homes under the chamas, another
00:52:39Manchester City story there about some the perks, I think they've been given some their players, the daily mail,
00:52:43burnum in retreat over Russia, Brexit lies, the Guardian
00:52:46PM says Britain's relationship with the EU was not good enough, the Times cut
00:52:50screen time in class for the sake of pupils health, the independent
00:52:54Andy Burnam says that he'll let voters decide to rejoin
00:52:58Europe, okay, well when and how supposed to the express, der election of
00:53:01duty bid to betray Brexit vote at the daily mirror horror outrageous reform,
00:53:05big
00:53:06wig, jemerick says the party would order royal marines to use lethal force
00:53:09against migrants. okay, thank you to my panel, thank you to you. over to the late show live
00:53:13in Washington with Tom Howard. from
00:53:17welfare to warfare. this late show live is going to be a
00:53:21conquer, a stormer. we're also going to be talking about P. diddie who's
00:53:25been sent to hospital after being in prison. what's gone on
00:53:29there? also Ilhann Omar, the controversial uh US
00:53:33uh member the House of Representatives she's had her DC
00:53:36home reided in the early hours of this morning, what's all that about? so
00:53:40much to cover, not least, what is Iran, up to in Fairfold and perhaps
00:53:44beyond all on the late show live after
00:53:46this?

00:53:59on GB News. evening, welcome to your latest weather update from the
00:54:03Met office here on GB. news very mild tonight, also
00:54:07very windy for some
00:54:08and the mild blustery weather continues tomorrow, there'll be some sunshine, but there will
00:54:12also be a spell of heavy rain moving through thanks to this little area of
00:54:16low pressure, it's intensifying developing as it moves up towards the northwest, that's
00:54:20where the strongest winds will be getting quite gusty and windy this evening
00:54:24across Northern Ireland with a spell of heavy rain moving through here and turning very
00:54:28windy indeed across the highlands of Scotland and particularly the western is
00:54:31through the early hours that spell of rainal sweep through the central belt and entually turn up
00:54:35in western parts of Wales, so much of England and Wales though, just a dank,
00:54:39murky, drizzly old night, but very mild temperatures hauling up at
00:54:4214-15 degrees, so it won't be a cold start to Tuesday, could be quite a
00:54:46wet start, however, the spell of rain edging its way through,
00:54:50generally dry over the midlands, much of eastern England, but there's that
00:54:54area of rain, it could be quite heavy in places, this rain, particularly over parts of
00:54:57Northwest England, the wet and windy weather sweeps through Northern Ireland, but then we're left
00:55:01with showers coming in for Tuesday morning, the rain... by the time we
00:55:05get to Russia should be pulling away from the east coast of Scotland, so skies
00:55:09brightening pretty rapidly here, but then more showers packing into western
00:55:13Scotland a brisk wind, the winds will be as strong as they will be overnight, but
00:55:17nevertheless quite noticeable, that spell of rain then works its way across east anglia and
00:55:21the southeast, doesn't bring a huge amount of rain, doesn't last all that long,
00:55:25and look at that, the afternoon largely sunny across the south, further north there'll be sunny
00:55:29spells, but there will also be some blustery, gusty showers,
00:55:33still mild temperatures in the... to high teens, maybe over 20
00:55:36celsius across the southeast, turning a little cooler Tuesday
00:55:40night into Wednesday morning, a little bit fresher first thing, but generally dry
00:55:44fine day across much the south, some early morning mist and fog, but then more
00:55:48wet and very windy weather, potentially coming into the northwest, need to
00:55:52keep an eye on that, again elsewhere generally dry and bright and
00:55:56still quite mild with temperatures perhaps up to 20
00:55:58celsius, today clouds
