00:02:56Electricity markets, sustainable energy, storage,
00:03:00energy systems, and network
00:03:02energy prices, escalating solutions, in addition to distribution systems, energy
00:03:05efficiency, asset management, and performance
00:03:08improvement are the most prominent areas that the fifth edition of the Oman
00:03:12Electricity and Energy Conference focused on under the slogan
00:03:15"Empowering the Future of Energy," energy
00:03:19transition paths and network resilience in an increasingly
00:03:22complex environment, which was opened
00:03:25at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center with

00:03:3551 provinces from
00:03:38For electricity production, 9%. This is, of course,
00:03:42most important axes a number that many countries
00:03:46towns and villages in around us will not match, due to the importance of the sector and also the establishment of several
00:03:50industrial projects and also population growth, etc.
00:03:54including Of course, we expect the sector to increase
00:03:57the percentage of renewable energy.
00:04:01Sun and wind, and this, of course, comes with
00:04:04challenges in terms of
00:04:07maintaining grid reliability
00:04:09and also
00:04:11political level, a connection at ensuring the continuous flow of electricity
00:04:14to consumers, whether in the residential sector or the industrial
00:04:18sector. This conference today discusses three main
00:04:21axes, the basis of which is the issue of energy
00:04:24supply, energy security, and technology related
00:04:28to energy.
00:04:30In general, we talk about the challenges facing the sector, especially in some current
00:04:33geopolitical circumstances, securing energy supply
00:04:37chains and dealing
00:04:40with the method
00:04:42To talk more about the situation in of the electricity grid
00:04:44and its general transformations, whether technological
00:04:48changes or changes in
00:04:51that enhances the presence of the Sultanate of Oman energy demand from different types of stakeholders.
00:04:55The conference and exhibition
00:04:56least five people. review energy transition paths and enhancing supply
00:05:00security and network resilience and developing
00:05:03electricity markets, in addition to reviewing the latest
00:05:06technologies and solutions in the fields of generation, transmission,
00:05:09distribution, and smart grids, and converting
00:05:12energy transition goals into implementable
00:05:15projects. The participants in this conference
00:05:19in the Sultanate
00:05:22innovative solutions that depend
00:05:25on the flexibility of the electricity grid in general. With the development
00:05:28of electricity systems and the entry of renewable
00:05:31energy and the changing energy mix, the importance
00:05:35of grid flexibility has greatly increased. We presented
00:05:38a working paper on the topic of quality and maintenance.
00:05:42The most important thing is that we display new products that
00:05:45relate to renewable energy,
00:05:48such as battery protection systems
00:05:52and rectifier transformers, which are
00:05:55specialized for the green hydrogen project.
00:05:58On the sidelines of the conference and exhibition,
00:06:01which is hosted by Namaa Electricity Distribution Company
00:06:04in cooperation with the Institute of Electrical and
00:06:08Electronics Engineers, four agreements were signed
00:06:11to train 500 Omani students in
00:06:14the field of planning, simulation, and protection of power
00:06:17grids, in cooperation with a number
00:06:20of higher education institutions in the Sultanate
00:06:23of Oman. This agreement with Siemens
00:06:27provided a set of so that it
00:06:31can be used by students of the Electrical
00:06:34and Computer Engineering Department at the College of Engineering.
00:06:37Of course, this is also used by
00:06:41public electricity companies
00:06:44in the Sultanate. So, when
00:06:47students use this software, when they go to the job
00:06:51market, they will have a great background
00:06:54on the use of this software.
00:06:57The Oman Electricity and Energy Conference
00:07:01seeks to enhance the position of the Sultanate of Oman
00:07:04as a regional hub for specialized dialogue in the
00:07:07energy sector, which is undergoing a transformation that requires
00:07:11more resilient and reliable
00:07:14networks capable of accommodating renewable energy sources,
00:07:18which aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision
00:07:212040 and the trend towards carbon
00:07:24neutrality by
00:07:252050.
00:07:34And now to Arab and international news, starting from Iran, where
00:07:38Iran confirmed that it is still
00:07:41studying the American response to its proposal to end
00:07:44tensions with the United States of America.
00:07:47The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry,
00:07:51Ismail Baqaei, stated that Tehran will respond
00:07:54to Washington through mediators once this study is completed.
00:07:57In a related context, Major General
00:08:00Mohsen Rezaee, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council
00:08:03of Iran, said that Washington has agreed to some of
00:08:07Iran's seven
00:08:08conditions.
00:08:12Israeli authorities began demolishing the homes
00:08:15of 80 families in the village of Al-Dhaheriya in the
00:08:19Negev region. The Palestinian News and Information Agency
00:08:22WAFA stated that the demolition of homes
00:08:26threatens the displacement of hundreds of residents amid fears
00:08:29of dozens of families losing their homes
00:08:31and lands. The agency indicated that the demolition
00:08:35operations come after the Beersheba Central Court rejected a request
00:08:38to freeze their implementation, which paved the way for the implementation
00:08:42of demolition decisions affecting homes
00:08:45and buildings in the village. Demolition operations had
00:08:49significantly escalated in recent years
00:08:52and affected dozens of homes and facilities in
00:08:55Rahat and other
00:08:58the Negev.
00:09:03Three Palestinians were martyred and others were injured as a result
00:09:07of Israeli shelling targeting the cities of Gaza and Khan Yunis. Medical
00:09:10sources reported the martyrdom of two Palestinians and the injury
00:09:14of others in an Israeli drone
00:09:17shelling in Al-Mawasi, Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
00:09:21Sources indicated that an Israeli drone
00:09:24targeted a gathering near a mosque in the Al-Mawasi
00:09:27area northwest of Rafah, adding that
00:09:30a Palestinian was martyred due to his injuries in an Israeli
00:09:33raid in Gaza City. This coincided with
00:09:37Israeli artillery firing shells towards
00:09:40areas northeast.
00:09:45Israeli forces opened fire and fired shells towards
00:09:49the coast of Gaza City to the north.
00:09:54the West Bank and Gaza Strip, we are joined from Nablus
00:09:58City in the West Bank by Dr. Suleiman
00:10:01Bisharat, Director of Yabous Center for Consultations and Strategic
00:10:04Studies. After welcoming you,
00:10:07Dr., a year has passed since the ceasefire agreement in Gaza,
00:10:10but military operations are still ongoing. How do you read
00:10:14this disparity between the announced agreement
00:10:17and the reality on the ground?
00:10:21Yes, first of all, greetings to you and to the esteemed followers and viewers.
00:10:25So, if we talk
00:10:28about the Israeli methodology, it is very clear that Israel
00:10:32is dealing and interacting with the targeting of all Palestinians.
00:10:35And this synchronicity and integration in the targeting process between what
00:10:39is happening in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip and in the occupied territories in
00:10:421948 indicates that the Palestinian presence
00:10:46is a targeted presence by the Israeli occupation. And if
00:10:50we go and link that with the Israeli behavior
00:10:53and the continuous Israeli aggressions on the Gaza Strip, this
00:10:56says that Israel wants
00:11:00the Palestinians represented, in one way or
00:11:04another, by imposing direct Israeli hegemony and control. And for this
00:11:07reason, the Israeli occupation reneges on all
00:11:10the obligations that resulted from the ceasefire
00:11:14and the cessation of the war on the Gaza Strip, and Israel disregards
00:11:17everything that was agreed
00:11:20upon by not continuing
00:11:23this war. However, it is very clear that this matter
00:11:27comes within two frameworks. The first framework
00:11:31is related to the internal Israeli political situation. We know that
00:11:35Israel is approaching or has begun to approach the eve
00:11:38of elections, the Israeli Knesset elections at the
00:11:42end of this month, and therefore there is a state of
00:11:45increasing bids towards targeting Palestinians
00:11:49at the expense of electoral and political competition
00:11:52in Israel. And the second matter is very clear.
00:11:55Israeli policies are now racing against time in
00:11:58an attempt to liquidate the Palestinian issue in a comprehensive
00:12:01manner, benefiting from the continuous American
00:12:04support for these Israeli policies.
00:12:08Do I understand from your words, Doctor, that the Israeli
00:12:11government seeks to
00:12:16no war, no peace, to gain a number of advantages,
00:12:20and what are these advantages in your opinion? Exactly, this
00:12:23is what, yes, exactly. This is what the current Israeli government wants,
00:12:27and what the entire Jewish project wants, which is
00:12:30to make the Palestinians pay a complex, escalating,
00:12:34and continuous price. And this matter,
00:12:38perhaps we can go back to the history of the Israeli occupation before
00:12:411948 and even now. The Palestinian citizen pays
00:12:45the price and pays the direct bill. The goals that Israel
00:12:48is trying to achieve in the Gaza Strip in particular are
00:12:52represented by a set of goals. The first goal is related to the Israeli
00:12:56political situation. The Israeli political leadership
00:12:59now does not want to bear the consequences of what
00:13:02happened after October 7th and the Israeli failure,
00:13:05because in case of accountability
00:13:08this level, the political leadership, represented by Benjamin
00:13:11Netanyahu, will be directly prosecuted
00:13:14and held directly accountable for the extent of the failure. And the second
00:13:18matter and the second goal is related to the future of the
00:13:21Jewish project on Palestinian land. Israel believes
00:13:25that the continuation of Israeli policies and the Israeli
00:13:28targeting of the Gaza Strip comes within the process
00:13:32of rebuilding a new geography and demography in
00:13:35Palestine, where Israel has greater control
00:13:39over the geographical and demographic presence in
00:13:42Palestine. And the third goal is very clear that it intersects
00:13:46between the Israeli and American political perspectives. Let us remember
00:13:50that Kushner, the son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump,
00:13:53presented an investment project in the Gaza Strip. And this investment
00:13:57project may intersect with Israeli
00:14:00ambitions to try to transform the political and geographical
00:14:03environment in the Gaza Strip into an investment state from
00:14:06an economic perspective that benefits Israel and benefits
00:14:10the United States of America. Yes, based on what you said, Doctor, and in parallel with the continued
00:14:14violations in Gaza, the West Bank is also witnessing an escalation
00:14:17in settler attacks and the imposition of more restrictions. Do
00:14:21you see a connection between the two tracks, or does
00:14:24each one have its own field and political
00:14:27calculations? It is a complete and systematic connection,
00:14:31and it is related on more than one level. A connection at the Israeli
00:14:36the religious, ideological, and doctrinal Israeli
00:14:40level, and a connection with the Israeli colonial concept.
00:14:43And if we go back again to understand the Israeli
00:14:47equation, Israel views the Palestinian territories in their entirety
00:14:51as territories that should be under complete Israeli
00:14:54sovereignty, hegemony, and control. For this reason, there is a process
00:14:57of expanding Israeli targeting, whether
00:15:00in the West Bank or in the Gaza Strip or in the occupied territories of 1948.
00:15:04And the second matter, which is the level related to the settler
00:15:07presence and the accelerating settler encroachment in the West
00:15:10Bank, Israel and Israeli policies and the Israeli
00:15:14political and military system have come to deal
00:15:17with the settler presence and project in the West
00:15:21Bank as an executive tool for all Israeli policies
00:15:25and to impose a new reality in the West Bank. And for this reason, if we notice
00:15:28the synchronicity of the escalation of attacks by
00:15:32settlers in the West Bank, especially during the current
00:15:35olive harvest season, this means that Israel
00:15:38and the Israeli occupation want to kill the hope
00:15:41and steadfastness that Palestinians adhere to in their presence on
00:15:45Palestinian land. And the third matter, which I believe is very
00:15:48dangerous, is that the Israeli occupation now believes that it is at the peak
00:15:52of announcing the possibility of realizing the prophecy
00:15:56of the Jewish state in exchange for the process of ending
00:15:59the Palestinian presence through displacement operations. And for this reason, it
00:16:02is working to accelerate all these measures and Palestinian
00:16:06targeting. Doctor, what are the available options for
00:16:11the West Bank, given the continuation of the war in Gaza
00:16:14and the decline in opportunities for a political
00:16:17settlement? First, the central and
00:16:21primary bet is on the Palestinian citizen, and the state of Palestinian
00:16:25steadfastness and the Palestinian presence itself is what
00:16:29makes all Israeli proposals and Israeli options
00:16:32options that cannot be taken for granted.
00:16:36In other words, what has maintained the Palestinian presence and steadfastness
00:16:41years of this occupation is what
00:16:45completely frightens the Israeli vision. The second option
00:16:49is the option related to the Palestinian political level,
00:16:53represented by the political address of the Palestinian National
00:16:56Authority. I believe that there should be a movement,
00:17:00not only at the level of activating international resolutions, but
00:17:03international oversight should turn into accountability
00:17:07and imposing sanctions on the Israeli occupation. And I believe
00:17:10that we can benefit from the extent and nature of solidarity
00:17:13with the Palestinian cause and from the transformations
00:17:16at the street level and at the level of international policies. The British
00:17:20position, the French position, other European
00:17:23positions are positions that have begun to move in an opposite
00:17:27direction to Israeli policies, and therefore efforts should
00:17:30be made to capitalize on them. And the last point, I believe,
00:17:34is that there should be pressure to change the position supporting the Israeli
00:17:38occupation by the American administration. The United States of America
00:17:41still represents the real card, space, and umbrella
00:17:45for supporting the entire Jewish
00:17:48this level is affected, then there can be an impact
00:17:51on the future and form of Israeli behavior against Palestinians.
00:17:55Yes, Doctor, finally, can the continuation of the crisis
00:17:59in Gaza and the escalating pressures in the West Bank open
00:18:01a new stage of Palestinian-Israeli confrontation?
00:18:04And what are the factors that will determine
00:18:08the course of this confrontation?
00:18:11The Palestinian issue is entirely and completely
00:18:14the compass of stability or instability in the Middle East region,
00:18:18and even in the entire world. Therefore, the continuation of the Israeli
00:18:21occupation with this escalation and this targeting makes future
00:18:25escalation options more numerous. And we have all
00:18:29experienced, as Palestinians, two experiences in 1987
00:18:32and in 2000, how the pressures and the continuous
00:18:35Israeli targeting of Palestinians turned that into a popular
00:18:39confrontation at the level of the entire Palestinian cause.
00:18:42I believe what is happening today in terms of a state of impasse
00:18:46in the political horizon and the continuous escalation of Israeli violations
00:18:49against Palestinians in all their places of presence,
00:18:53this can generate a Palestinian reaction that can reach
00:18:56a state of comprehensive popular confrontation. Therefore, it has become clear
00:19:00that if this stage is not addressed, and if there are
00:19:03no controls or brakes that can curb all this Israeli
00:19:07encroachment and this Israeli savagery,
00:19:10that can turn into fuel that can lead to
00:19:14a state of field ignition at the Palestinian level,
00:19:17and perhaps completely affect
00:19:19the regional and international level. For this reason, it is very
00:19:23clear that the next stage will be
00:19:26the real criterion and measure. If
00:19:29there is, after the Israeli and American elections, if there
00:19:33is a reduction in the conflict in one way or another, it
00:19:36can reset the accounts to the concept
00:19:40of politics and the concept of political paths. And if
00:19:44there is an Israeli escalation, this can
00:19:46lead to a process of further escalation and confrontation
00:19:50in a state of political impasse, whether that
00:19:53is related to the Palestinian issue directly or in terms
00:19:57of other files in the Middle East. Thank you, Doctor
00:20:01Suleiman Bisharat, Director of Yabous Center for Consultations and
00:20:04Strategic Studies. Thank you very much.
00:20:09The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced an increase in the number

00:20:29of Health stated in a statement that the cumulative death
00:20:32toll from the aggression since March 2nd until
00:20:35today has reached more than
00:20:394,300 dead and more than 12,000 injured.
00:20:42This toll comes amid continued Israeli attacks
00:20:46on several Lebanese areas, especially in the south,
00:20:50where the past few hours witnessed shelling targeting towns
00:20:55coinciding with the overflight of drones
00:20:58and continued
00:21:00targeting.
00:21:04The foreign policy official in the European Union,
00:21:07Kaja Kallas, welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in
00:21:10the energy sector between Russia and Ukraine.
00:21:13Kallas added that the foreign ministers of the bloc approved
00:21:17nearly 1,600
00:21:20new sanctions targeting the Russian industrial
00:21:23and military sectors. On the ground,
00:21:26the Russian Ministry of Defense said that it launched drone
00:21:30attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure
00:21:33facilities, adding that it targeted a ship
00:21:36that was transporting a military cargo to the Ukrainian
00:21:40port of Odesa. For its part,
00:21:43the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said that a Russian

00:22:37and education.
00:22:43The South Korean army said that North Korea launched several
00:22:47ballistic missiles towards its eastern
00:22:50waters. Jang Do-yong, spokesman
00:22:54for the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, said
00:22:57that missiles of various types were launched from an area
00:23:01around the North Korean capital, Pyongyang,
00:23:04indicating that one of the missiles flew
00:23:07for a distance of more than 900 km
00:23:11the sea. The National Security Office of the South Korean
00:23:15Presidency in Pyongyang called for an immediate halt to the repeated
00:23:19ballistic missile launches, stressing that these
00:23:22actions violate UN Security Council resolutions
00:23:25and do not serve the stability of the situation on the Korean
00:23:28Peninsula.
