00:00:00trusted manager on the outbound side, and if the US and
00:00:03its partners quietly help oversee
00:00:06of implementation, I can
00:00:08of imagine a temporary arrangement that restores traffic and gives everybody
00:00:11enough time to negotiate something
00:00:14of more durable, but there's a strategic downside here,
00:00:18if the deal is written
00:00:19in a way that effectively ratifies Iran's authority to
00:00:22control skipping, then
00:00:25in you're edging away from the traditional
00:00:28in idea of an open international... waterway and toward a more
00:00:31Iran centric maritime regime and for
00:00:35Washington that's that's a red line, any temporary
00:00:39of fix has to be framed this crisis management, not a
00:00:43of permanent transfer of power to Iran where Iran
00:00:47basically gets to in the future what happens in
00:00:51the straight of horms in terms
00:00:53of the ships going through right
00:00:56now much
00:00:58of diminished from the normal pattern on. on the
00:01:01of US side, sam is pretty clear, the southern
00:01:05of route running through Omani Waters is open, and
00:01:10a of American forces have helped more than a thousand vessels transit that corridor over the
00:01:14past the months, that's Washington's way of saying, this
00:01:18remains an international waterway, we're still
00:01:20guaranteing freedom of navigation, on the Iranian
00:01:24side, the revolutionary guard is used the war to rewrite the
00:01:27rules, tanker traffic has... collapse from
00:01:31130, 140 ships a day to
00:01:34a tiny fraction of that now, many
00:01:36of the vessels that do move are
00:01:38of operating under government to government arrangements or
00:01:41ad-hawk deals with Iranian
00:01:44authorities. tiran insists that any route not
00:01:48explicitly approved by Iran is illegitimate, and it
00:01:51backs that
00:01:52of claim with checkpoints, with vetting with selective harassment by its
00:01:56forces. so who controls Hormus today?
00:02:00legally, the straight is governed by international
00:02:03of law and shared Omani Iranian territorial
00:02:07seas. Practically, Iran has successfully
00:02:11leveraged its geography and naval presence to become a
00:02:14gatekeeper, while the US and its partners keep a southern
00:02:17of lifeline open and try to prevent that gate keeper
00:02:21role from hardening into something like permanent sovereignty
00:02:25over
00:02:43describes its talks with Oman as positive, but it insists that they have
00:02:47nothing to do with the United States. Is theran genuinely refusing direct
00:02:50engagement with the US or is Oman
00:02:53of quietly calling messages between both the sides? Also Iran says an agreement with
00:02:57Oman would not automatically reopen Hormus. that US violations
00:03:01must first end, what specific American action would Tehran need
00:03:05to see
00:03:05of before it allows normal shipping to resume in this
00:03:08of area? well, what Iranians i'm
00:03:11assuming would need to see is for the United
00:03:15States to honor the
00:03:17of contracts of that they sign, and as I mentioned earlier, they're
00:03:21not very good at that, obviously they cancelled the JCPO, and
00:03:25now they
00:03:26of entered very hardly,
00:03:30of in a very, very of hurried matter, they entered into an mou back in June 17th and one
00:03:34of the articles, I think is article number four or number five does
00:03:38talk about Iran having some sense of control or being
00:03:42allowed to charge some sort
00:03:43of of a fee that your other guess just mention also for
00:03:47in environmental in for pilotage and so
00:03:49on so on and so forth services so in
00:03:52of that aspect Iran uh for all intents
00:03:56and
00:03:56of purposes not approving what it does domestically but internash.
00:04:00it appears that
00:04:02it is following with what the negotiations led to, which is the
00:04:06Islamabad mou. going back to whether or not Oman
00:04:09is playing an active role in
00:04:12diplomacy
00:04:14of or in indirect diplomacy between Iran and the United States, I would
00:04:17of be surprised if that were the case, because that was happening also
00:04:21in
00:04:22of secret during the
00:04:23of George W. Bush
00:04:25of administration and Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad administration,
00:04:29several. years ago, so in that aspect,
00:04:33of Oman, I'm assuming is doing that, and at the same
00:04:36time, United States, because of
00:04:40its behavior and because
00:04:42of the way it supports the state of Israel, cannot
00:04:46be an ultimate partner for Iran, those people
00:04:49who are basically doing the negotiation
00:04:53of on of the Iranian part know that, so they have to be very quiet, very,
00:04:56very careful about this, and that's why you... don't see an
00:05:00advertisement that we are dealing with the United States again. One
00:05:04of the things, before I finish, one
00:05:05of the things that mentioned time and
00:05:09again and it has proven historically to be true. is that
00:05:13he uh warned everyone that they have to be very careful how they deal
00:05:17with the United States, because the United States essentially doesn't
00:05:20respect its own signature when it's a piece of
00:05:24paper, let alone ideologically, it's a colonial
00:05:28power that wants to bring the whole middle east under its
00:05:31control, and the Iranian revolution in essence in
00:05:341979 stands to make sure that that doesn't
00:05:37happen, so we are truly again a historic
00:05:41period, where by huge miscalculation
00:05:45by United States and Israel on February
00:05:4828th by attacking Iran and by seeing the
00:05:52kind of defense that Iran has, as we say the cat is out the
00:05:56bag and putting that genie in the bottle, it's going to be extremely different, so
00:06:00United States might have to come up with some
00:06:04sort of a unbelievable reality
00:06:07that it needs to face and that is accepting Iran as a
00:06:11local. superpower that has proven to
00:06:15be able to be quite violent against his own neighbors to
00:06:19realities that need to be face and the genie that is out the bottle. these
00:06:23are of course statements that you've made and of course we see we will
00:06:26see how that goes as far as this conflict is
00:06:45Seven years after India's illegal actions of August 5,
00:06:482019, the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir
00:06:52remains under military siege. New Delhi may have scrapped articles 370 and
00:06:5635A, but it cannot eraice Kashmiri identity, nor can it extinguish
00:07:00the right to self determination. Pakistan stands firmly with the Kashmiris on
00:07:04the other side the border, and the world must finally move beyond empty statements
00:07:08and hold India accountable as far
00:07:24us to sir, thank you very much to have joined us, sir, seven years after
00:07:27India revoked articles 370 and 35A, why has the
00:07:31international community failed to confront an action that
00:07:35has violated united nations resolutions and has attempted to change the
00:07:39status of a disputed territory.
00:07:57of Jammu and Kashmir was to be resolved back in the 1950s when
00:08:00the United Nations Security Council mandated a plebiscite to
00:08:04be held under the supervision the United Nations, and from that
00:08:08point till August the 5th, 2019, there has been no
00:08:12action, no meaningful action and the reason is not the
00:08:15international community, the reason is India's
00:08:18intrancigence and
00:08:20obduracy, the state of
00:08:24Pakistan was ready for a plebissit, so over the people of Jammu and
00:08:27Kashmir, and the United Nations at that time had
00:08:31made elaborate preparations, but India
00:08:34first included this this illegal
00:08:38article in its constitution in violation the United Nations Security.
00:08:42council resolution, the article called article
00:08:45370, it was hoke, as matter of fact, it were, it gave
00:08:49some conditional autonomy to the
00:08:53state of Jammu and Kashmir, to the occupied part the Jammu and
00:08:57Kashmir, and then
00:08:59appointed a president and a prime minister
00:09:02and gave separate constitution to the
00:09:06territory, but then it resorted to what you would call
00:09:09colonialism, naked colonialism or settle. colonialism
00:09:13and when this article out
00:09:17370 was resinded in 2019 it
00:09:21was already an empty shell
00:09:24and all the powers the legislative assembly
00:09:28of Jammu and Kashmir had been
00:09:31robbed and the writ
00:09:35the the federation was complete there and therefore
00:09:39they dismantle the autonomous structure that was the semi
00:09:43autonomous or qu autonomous structure that was
00:09:45there, but your question is different, why
00:09:49has the international community failed to take notice,
00:09:52as matter of fact, if you would go back to 2019, there was
00:09:55a ground swell of support for
00:09:59the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the international media at that
00:10:02time supported the people of Jammu
00:10:06and Kashmir, also think tanks, human rights organizations, they
00:10:10called out India for its egregous violations of
00:10:13human rights and international law and
00:10:16everybody was surprised by
00:10:19this step that India had taken by
00:10:22occupying the already occupied
00:10:25territory and setting in motion
00:10:29pervasive lockdown and the media block out
00:10:33and then people were almost starved to death, there were
00:10:37enforced disappearances, young men
00:10:41and women, particularly young men and the boys in
00:10:45their teams were imprisoned and sent to the most
00:10:48notorious prison houses in India in different parts
00:10:52of India so '
00:10:55but at that time I recall that Pakistan had taken up
00:10:59this issue at the Security Council and there was
00:11:03support for Pakistan stance and there was
00:11:06concern that this move by India could
00:11:10prove to be catastrophic because Pakistan and India are two
00:11:14nuclear weapon states and any war, any clash between them could
00:11:18escalate to the nuclear level, at that time China stood by
00:11:21Pakistan and then of course I and the other
00:11:25veto wielding pass, particularly the United States, United
00:11:29Kingdom and France did not support any action on the
00:11:33reference made by Pakistan, because we wanted resolution or statement coming
00:11:37out of Security Council deliberations. You must
00:11:41also remember that in 2019 President
00:11:44Trump before August 5 had offered
00:11:48mediation which was rejected by India, Narendra Modi, prime minister of India
00:11:52rejected it, but even last year after
00:11:55Mark and there were many human rights violations which were committed
00:11:59by Indian forces, immediately after the balgam
00:12:02incident, they incarcerated many young men,
00:12:06they demolished their businesses, their houses
00:12:09and so there was
00:12:13again this draconian
00:12:17actions that were
00:12:19taken, and what I'm pointing out
00:12:23here is that in october last year, five
00:12:27special rapporteurs comment commented on
00:12:31those depredations and those actions, illicit actions taken by India, they said that
00:12:35they were in violation of international law, international humanitarian
00:12:38law, and they designated them as crimes, crimes against
00:12:42humanity, all those incarcerations, torture and
00:12:46killings, but they said something more profound, and I
00:12:50want to share it with you, they said that India's
00:12:54allegation that Pakistan was involved
00:12:57in the pahalkham incident were not
00:13:01table and it also said
00:13:04that India's decision to attack
00:13:07Pakistan on the 6th of May or
00:13:11the night of sixth and 7th May was also illegal
00:13:14ilisit because India could not hide itself
00:13:18behind its it's reasoning or argument that it was
00:13:22doing so in ' self
00:13:25defense, because if it was self defense, it would have invoked article
00:13:2951 the charter and would have intimated the United
00:13:33Nations Security Council about his intent to attack
00:13:37Pakistan, so I would say that these are
00:13:40two indictments against India given by United Nations
00:13:44special reporteurs and they have not been widely
00:13:48circulated, but
00:13:51well the evidence is there, butud sah, what you trying to say is that... th
00:13:55these reports have given the evidence as to where the situation is, as far
00:13:59as the Indian Hill Valley is concerned. now Masud Sab,
00:14:03India has issued domicile rights to outsiders, it has facilitated land
00:14:06acquisition and has tried to weaken Kashmir's Muslim
00:14:10majority identity, could this demographic engineering eventually make a
00:14:14just settlement far more difficult for the people the occupied
00:14:18valley? you the agenda is the agenda
00:14:21the BJP and Russia swayam sevak sang is to...
00:14:25amalgamate the people of Jammu and Kashmir,
00:14:29occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the territory
00:14:32itself in the Indian federation, they have
00:14:36so far failed to amalgamate artificially this state
00:14:40into the federation, so this is backed
00:14:44by the Hindutva doctrine, they want saffronize the
00:14:48whole of India, in fact the whole the subcontinent, and they would not
00:14:52succeed because Kashmir has... majority
00:14:56population is Muslims, you have 68%
00:14:59today, but in back in 1947 the population
00:15:03of Muslims ranged between 80 to
00:15:0685%, so I think that
00:15:10this should not make the
00:15:13movement for the realization
00:15:17the right to self determination the people of Jammu and
00:15:19Kashmir kind
00:15:23of... an unattainable
00:15:26objective, so I would say, I would argue that you
00:15:30know this is a forced union, this is an legal union, this is against
00:15:34the law of nature, had there been...
00:15:37natural complementarity between the people of
00:15:41Jammu and Kashmir and India, then they would not deploy three
00:15:45cores and one million security
00:15:48forces in this territory, because they perceive it to be enemy
00:15:52territory, otherwise you do not concentrate
00:15:55such large,
00:15:59large scale operative operational forces a
00:16:03territory like that. Let me also point out that you would...
00:16:07recall that after Mark president Trump in his truth social
00:16:10post
00:16:11had suggested to
00:16:15India and Pakistan to meet on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir because everybody
00:16:19realized at that time that this was nuclear flash point not
00:16:23only for South Asia but for the entire world and then
00:16:27this secretary Rubio had suggested to Pakistan that Pakistan
00:16:31and India that they should meet in a third country Pakistan is ready for any form of
00:16:34diplomacy whether it is bilateral whether it is to third party
00:16:38mediation or whether it is through the United Nations, the
00:16:42agency the United Nations or a group of countries, but I think that we must
00:16:46move to the negotiating table and must engage each other and the
00:16:50international community important sir, that is extremely
00:16:53important, any kind of process that could lead to the
00:16:57plebit in the Indian Hill Valley and the people finally deciding for themselves as to what
00:17:01they want in the Indian Hill Valley is what is extremely important, that is
00:17:17Thank you very much Dr. Gilani to have joined us. India claims its August
00:17:202019 actions brought development and normally yet
00:17:24Kashmiris still face militarization, arrests, media
00:17:27restrictions and political repression. What is the reality behind New Delhi's
00:17:31carefully promoted
00:17:52let me put out some facts to you, one the most major
00:17:56important branding factor is the economics
00:17:59and the economics the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and
00:18:03Kashmir post 2019 immediate
00:18:06after the... propagation of both the articles, the Kashmiri
00:18:09economy suffered more than two billion dollar loss,
00:18:13that was just because after the blanket curfew that India laid
00:18:17upon the total valley, both Kashmir and
00:18:20Jammu. Not only that, we must also
00:18:23consider the trumpet that was beaten by India about
00:18:27employment, about development, but today the fast and figure
00:18:31say that Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir
00:18:34places around 21
00:18:36to 22%. unemployment, which is by
00:18:40far the greatest number or the larger number as
00:18:43compared to the mainland Indian dominion. so when we talk
00:18:47about development, when we talk about employment and the opportunities, we
00:18:51must also consider the domiciles that the Indian authorities are
00:18:55handing over to anyone who has spent five years or 10 years in
00:18:59Kashmir making them or labeling them as far as the documentation
00:19:03is concerned as kashmiris,
00:19:05so they get the opportunities now as comp to the Kashmiri who is
00:19:09actually living inside Jammu and Kashmir as compared to
00:19:12kashmiri who has been there for generations and who
00:19:16is a true kashmiri in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and
00:19:20Kashmir so the educational opportunities that were reserved
00:19:24only for the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and
00:19:27Kashmir are now being handed over in the plate
00:19:31Biharis to non kashmiris to people from the
00:19:34mainland Indian dominion and lastly I was mention the
00:19:38household and the land grab that has
00:19:41been impassioned by the NIA and the SIA
00:19:44lately, the land, the properties and the houses
00:19:48of Kashmiri is living there since decades have been
00:19:52essentially used by NIA and we are being
00:19:55handed over to
00:19:57non-resident Hindu,
00:20:01Hindus and Hindutva guns, they are being
00:20:04facilitated and encouraged to return back. to
00:20:07kashmir and in fact harbor the houses
00:20:11in which the kashmiris had been living. this is
00:20:15a question that i have asked recently as well, but i want your opinion on that, dr.
00:20:19gilani. faruok abdullah questions why killings continue if India
00:20:23has eliminated militancy and sealed the border borders and why such incidents
00:20:27coincide with demands for statehood. he has also questioned
00:20:31why violent incidents occur whenever demands for restoring indian
00:20:35illegally occupied jammu and kashmir statehood. momentum, do his remarks
00:20:39expose serious contradictions in the Modi government's claims of any kind of normalcy in the
00:20:43region? absolutely,
00:20:46absolutely, and it's not just, I must say, in
00:20:50fact with the whole opposition, the whole, in fact even
00:20:54fark abdullah or mufti, both i as
00:20:56them consider the puppets the delhi delhi
00:21:00sarkar, but lately we have seen that
00:21:03both these faruk abdullah or abdullah and the family
00:21:07ofti, her daughter mufti have been speaking a little
00:21:11bit truth about what's going on on the ground, and we
00:21:15have seen that the people over there have come out on the
00:21:19roads. previously for even the civic rights as well, that
00:21:23is for electric meters, that is for the
00:21:26encouragement drive, that is for the overflow the water
00:21:30canals that are running through Sirinagar, the mainland
00:21:33city, so we must understand the fact that
00:21:37whenever the people come out on the road, India has to give something,
00:21:41India has to do something to show that, oh no, Kashmir is
00:21:45integral part of India and so the people need to be taken care of, and
00:21:49how does India take care of it by
00:21:51essentially dismantling the
00:21:55barkarwals, by essentially dismantling the kashmiris
00:21:58living on their properties in Sirinagar and
00:22:02on the mountains by essentially doing
00:22:06false flag operations so that the people would be diverted
00:22:09towards something else and this is where India gains this
00:22:13momentum that oh no Pakistan is at the back
00:22:17of each and every miscreation that is taking place. inside
00:22:21the India illegally occupied German and Kashmir and therefore Indian forces need
00:22:25to be there for the so-called protection the
00:22:28people living inside the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
00:22:32Dr. Dr. Gilani, I'd like one last answer because we b short of time and I
00:22:36wanted your opinion on that as well. The all parties Huriyat conference says seven
00:22:40years of siege have failed to crush the freedom freedom struggle. What
00:22:44message that does today's black day sent to India and
00:22:48to an international community that? continues to ignore the Kashmiri's
00:22:52right to determine their own future through a
00:22:53plebis. Absolutely, absolutely
00:22:57ever since 5th of August 2019, more than
00:23:01one thousand Kashmiris have been put to jail, and not only that,
00:23:04I must mention the Kashmiri Huriyat leadership that is behind bars for
00:23:08more than 10 years now, in fact people like
00:23:12Shabir Shah, Dr.
00:23:13Kasim, and all
00:23:17these have been harbord in jail for more than 15 year. so even
00:23:20today, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are standing up,
00:23:24resisting, resisting, because that is what their existence depends
00:23:28upon. I believe this resistance in itself should be
00:23:32quoted to the world across to the movers in shakespeare so that they would
00:23:35know that Kashmir is not frozen in time, that
00:23:39the issue of Kashmir still exists, that the humans of
00:23:43Kashmir are still there, not waiting for genocide, but
00:23:46rather waiting for the world to hear them out. for what
00:23:50is their birth right, right to self
00:23:53determination, and I think that is very important for the
00:23:57world to realize the role the United Nations, the OIC and other important bodies
00:24:00becomes very important, Pakistan has taken this case so many times to all these
00:24:04fora, but isn't is more important that all these bodies now
00:24:08at least unite in order to exert the necessary pressure
00:24:12on India so that if nothing else a plebiscite happens in the Indian
00:24:16Hell Valley. see one the
00:24:20most important things in Kashmir is the choked life, when you don't have
00:24:24the right to religious freedom, you cannot go for decide your prayers, you cannot go to
00:24:28the market without being pressed and harassed, the girls, kashmiri
00:24:32girls cannot go to their colleges or pharmacies without being checked a very
00:24:36irregular and a very demined manner,
00:24:40i think we really need to talk about this on the international
00:24:43coura, that plabicit is our ultimate goal, but bringing
00:24:47life to the people living inside. occupied Jammu and
00:24:50Kashmir, but
00:24:51you know
00:24:51I think I think the responsibility or the owners also relies on
00:24:55important major global powers and important bodies like I said the
00:24:59United Nations, the YC, Pakistan has done as much as
00:25:02it could continues to do that and will be doing that in the future as well, but it is
00:25:06also the the responsibility these important bodies do the needful. Dr.
00:25:10Mujahid Gilani, thank
00:26:09Pakistan has done human work, it's been
00:26:12absolutely remarkable what Pakistan, what Islamabad
00:26:16has been able to bring about? Well, I think the countries that
00:26:20are mediating have to keep plugging away and trying to find a
00:26:23modus, solution. I think the first thing that has to
00:26:27happen is there has to be agreement on the straight of Hormus,
00:26:31because that was the cause. of this latest war, most
00:26:34important part is going to be dialogue, and I think the
00:26:37Pakistan back door diplomacy uh Qatar
00:26:41also is essential. India is not only
00:26:44destabilizing the region, India has, I think it's look at
00:26:48this ambition, it it was involved in terrorist acts in
00:26:58problem, systematic persecution the Muslims there, not only.
00:27:02the Muslims but also the Christians on forces
00:27:06are police and devies and scouts rangers, they
00:27:10are doing the very
00:27:11best.
00:27:22I happen to be Shazad Hisan Khan and with me, I'm really lucky, I've been joined by my
00:27:26wonderful colleague happens to be Miss Isha Rahan, there are couple of stories
00:27:30that I brought and then there are couple of stories which ministry of
00:27:34agriculture, the government of Punjab played role
00:27:38in resolving a longstanding issue which was
00:27:41impacting the export of Pakistani potatoes.
00:27:44Pakistan, first of all, I am very happy that the
00:27:48government is now leading on this issue. I would like to say
00:27:58at the numbers. Okay, numbers is not the issue many, many famous
00:28:01companies. coming here and everybody so
00:28:05you know feel so promising of doing the local
00:28:08production and
00:28:09you know to get to build the uh confidence for the
00:28:13long-term partnership. this is much more to do
00:28:17with the really deep lack of trust between the United States and Iran,
00:28:21obviously that's something that goes back nearly five
00:28:35around 8.6 million children are in situations of
00:28:38child labor, and that of course is very high number. those incredible
00:28:42efforts made by Pakistan and in particular by his excellency prime
00:28:46minister Sharif and his excellency field marshall are
00:28:50incredible and commendable in the entire
00:29:14one seat to go to
00:29:15war.
00:29:21Only Congress can actually undo the sanctions, so
00:29:24whatever Trump says, it has to go through Congress. One the
00:29:28key weapons that Iran is using the straight of home moves for is leverage against the US.
00:29:32"Having a US presence on your territory has made you more likely
00:29:36to be attacked. Realignments taking place to counter the Israelis
00:29:40and that includes your country, Pakistan, along with uh
00:29:44Saudi Arabia and Egypt and
00:29:46Turkey.
00:30:35Let's take a look at the headline the
00:30:36hour.
00:30:55Prime Minister Shabba Sharif will be paying visit to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia from
00:30:59these.
